From 1875 until his death on July 14, 1881, one young man stirred up more controversy and eluded the law in his short life than any other outlaw. Many say his killed twenty-one men—one for each year of his life, others say it was closer to nine or ten. It was after all the wild, wild west. When all was said and done, the young expert horseman and gunslinger was taken out in the dark without a weapon on his person. This is the story of the teenage outlaw, William Henry McCarty, Jr. Better known as, Billy the Kid.
