It's not a new phenomenon for local residents of a place with high tourist traffic to be annoyed by the inconvenience tourists cause sometimes; it's normal. What is new is tourists in Hong Kong not really caring much for Hong Kong's world-famous skyline or its beautiful nature and instead going to some random coffee shops and posing for photos for long photo sessions, all doing the same poses, just because it was mentioned on an app.

(00:01):
So I reiterate here, the bill isdead.
The story of this great city is about the years before this
night. Hey everyone, it's Ho Hong Kong.

(00:24):
Mohammed Vivek. Yes, Mohammed is still fasting
and still kicking. Now you can see after a week of
Ramadanning, I'm adjusted, full of energy and.
He gets it strong. He gets it.
He's like, yeah, I see how this works, man.
I'm not. I'm not.
Surprised I lost half my weight, but you know, what are you going
to? Do what do you want that for the
attachment you know exactly the attachment.

(00:46):
I practice the attachment to myself.
To your fat, Exactly. Yeah, yes.
Get that away from me. I don't need that muscle mass.
Don't need that either. No, I never needed that.
I'm good you keep that one as well.
It is hard actually with certainthings like yoga because like,
you know, you want to like, try to like have sip of water
wherever in the middle. So now it's yoga and stuff has

(01:08):
to be like in the evening. And a lot of the time in the
evening there's shows. So it's still a bit difficult.
But yes, the Ramadan in Hong Kong is a success.
Yeah, well, I mean, I mean, justbe glad at least that you don't
need to like you're not Ramadan, let's say, while you're
traveling. Yes, actually.

(01:29):
Funny enough, if you are traveling you can actually get a
pass to not. Yes.
So what definition of traveling, like commuting to crossing the
harbor? To be honest, no, because the
rule is since back then the traveling was on the back of a
camel or a horse for like a week, that's when you're
supposed to like, not fast. So actually a lot of people now,

(01:51):
even though you have that pass, they don't do it because
traveling is so convenient now that you're like sleeping on a
plane for four hours and then you're fine.
So you're not really supposed todo it, but you have the pass if
you're really like, if I'm travelling now, I'm actually not
sure. I think I would probably not
fast as well. Yeah, just because like, I don't
want to be. Tired or whatever, man.
Like, yeah, yeah, exactly. You can't.

(02:12):
Yeah, on a plane and stuff you are dehydrated and stuff, but
you have that past. But then again, I'm not really
doing it for religious reasons anyway.
Yeah, but not we did already Ramadan last week, not to, not
to go back. Again, same thing.
No, but there's like certain things that a whole group of
people do at the same time. Yes, called tourist then.
Oh my God. Yeah, tourist things like.

(02:32):
That's the new thing, man. Like.
I don't actually think I ever joined a tour group, have you?
Like the ones where they tell you where to go and stuff.
Yes, or like follow someone witha with a flag.
I've no not with the flag. I've done exchange programs.
Me too. Yeah, that.
Actually, you're right. Yes, yes, we've done change.
Program, yes. So in a way, it was kind of a

(02:52):
tour group. Yeah, yeah.
But. It wasn't like, oh, now look at
this thing. OK, we saw take a photo, take a
photo. OK, OK, we'll just go here and
buy some jewelry. This yes, you know.
Yeah, yeah, you're right. Like I remember, but I did an
exchange in Germany and Stuttgart and yeah, we had like
a program for every day, but, you know, kids like we're like
15 or whatever. And then yeah, like every day.
Like one day we went to the Mercedes museum, which was like

(03:15):
super fucking cool. It's like the main Mercedes
museum and it's designed in a way that is actually like kind
of a race track that is going like a long, like not a long
like it's in the in the inside the museum, but it's going up
like that. So every is spiraling upwards.
And that track has like the different models from like back

(03:36):
in the day. They have like the first car
that has like and all of that. And that track goes up all the
way up to the future models. And that was like already like
almost 20 years ago. And I still remember this as one
of the coolest things I've seen, man.
Stuttgart, Mercedes-Benz Museum,if you have the chance.
Yeah, I'm sure it's like way cooler now too.
Yeah. But like, even the design of it

(03:58):
is so cool because every floor basically can see that like kind
of 2 tracks, basically one on what side on one side is like an
older model than the other side.Yeah.
But yeah, you're right. Like here now it's kind of
rammed with. Yeah, especially like in Soho
area, you can sell every single day.
You've got tourists and I get it.
I'm not, I'm not, I'm not like anti tourist, you should not get

(04:18):
out my country kind of thing. But like, it's what I'm getting
annoyed by is the repetitivenesswhere it's like literally the
same thing's happening on a different day.
And I it's not that I'm just like, well, it's fair enough
because it's like, yeah, but that happens everywhere.
Like you look at the Eiffel Tower and tomorrow the same
thing is happening. I get what I feel bad is for is

(04:39):
the the youngsters who are doingthe social media post and
everything and doing the same exact not the the the the
experience is one thing yes eating the things are nothing
but the worst is like to do the experience in the identical way.
Yes, and it's like you're 100% right and I don't want this to
come off as too old people complaining about tourism or

(04:59):
whatever, but the lack of creativity.
Yeah, in doing that thing. Yes, there is no shame.
Like there's no problem I think with going to a place and saying
I've been to this place because that's the point of travelling
and posting about it is also OK.It's like the leaders have like.
Hey, at school I went to Hong Kong.
And to be honest, it's also an expensive place.
Some people probably like especially from mainland,

(05:22):
probably save a bunch of money to come here.
So there's nothing wrong with that to even come here and be
like, hey, I made it to Hong Kong, that's cool.
But you're right. Like to come all the way to take
the same exact photo and try to be as close as possible to
whoever. Influenced the same exact photo.
We don't mean like, you know, back to the like, like you're
back as the harbour. Yes, that's fine.

(05:42):
Yeah, that's fine. Yes.
But like to, let's say, buy thatfood item and take that same
photo of you sitting in front ofit looking down at a certain
pose. This is we come in like I get it
that everyone says that you got to try this thing.
You're like, I have to go to try.
I get it. Yeah.
You have to see the harbour viewto see it, of course.
But like to have to go there andto take strike that pose where
it's like, oh, that's the point now, yes.

(06:03):
We have to do the idea and it's like, yeah.
And you know, also it's not about.
I'll tell you an experience thatI've seen first hand, literally
like just before Ramadan started.
And it's like to your point as well.
So I was at fine print in Peel St. on Peel St.
And if if you have been there anytime in the last year,
anytime during the day, it's completely rammed with tourists

(06:26):
and it's because someone or Cha Hongshu made it famous.
That's really the simple answer, because there is a bigger fine
print now in Saipun and there isanother fine print in Kennedy
Town completely. Fine, Oh my goodness.
Yeah, it's just the PO St. one. Yeah, so the sign .1 is quite
successful. It actually took over the the
shop in front of it, so now it'slike double yeah, yeah, yeah,

(06:46):
bigger and everything and fine print is a solid brand, but the
PO St. one particularly. So anyways, I'm sitting there, I
had my coffee and I actually bought a bag of the and the
filter coffee and have them likegrind it for me.
So I'm sitting there and as I'm waiting for my bag of coffee and
they give you a free coffee witha bag.
Oh yeah, yeah. So I'm just sitting there
waiting for my coffee, just me and my dog.

(07:08):
And coffee comes. And as the coffee comes, I can
see three Chinese girls. I can see Chinese because they
are speaking Mandarin. So I'm not being crazy.
They're speaking Mandarin. So they're coming in, but
they're also looking at me. Just ignore them.
Maybe they're looking at the dogand then one of them came out
from out from inside fine print and kind of stoned, like really

(07:31):
close to me. So I was just starting my
coffee. So I got on, ignored her, and
then realized what were you? Aware that where you were
sitting was like the challenge hotspot?
No, you didn't know that. No, but I picked up that do you
want. Do you have a manual?
Not a manual camera like a digital like an old school
digital. Camera.
Yeah, that's. Like a cyber-shot and.
That that has become like the new trend now, Yes, everyone
wants to go to the old school digital like the the one that

(07:53):
the dummy camera ones. Yes, yes, yes.
And like this is the thing that I I just laugh about it.
I'm like, OK, let me let me explain to everybody here.
I get it. You want to have that low fi
yes, kind of shot. I get what you're doing.
You know that you also can have that on your phone Yeah, you can
just you can have an app or you can have a filter Yeah, you
don't need to do that. You don't need to do the
Cyber-shot camera and then take the SD card and then put it.

(08:15):
You can do the same exact. You know you have more options
now on your phone. You want to know what else can
blow your people blow people's mind if you do your homework and
all stuff there are extremely high quality apps yes that like
on the reputable yes you can replicate the grain.
Yes. OK, I have.
Like a film. Camera, yes, I have all those

(08:36):
things as I use those, yes. And I was like, look at them
like kids. Yeah, why you Oh my God.
Like you can literally replicatethat way better and have way
more options. Yes, but I get it.
You have to be seen with that little thing.
I I get it. So this the point click I get it
I. Get it?
So the three, the three girls, that's when I started getting
really annoyed. And again, nothing visible.

(08:57):
I just sitting there. I'm just watching them because
they're like too close to me. So the three guards ordered one
like that toast with the cream cheese and blueberry, which
again, I know already is the thehottest item at fine print
because I go there to pick up mycoffee and that's usually what
the Chinese stores are ordering for some reason.
Again, the reason will have to be.

(09:18):
The Xiaohongshu, I'm gonna guess, I'm gonna guess what must
have happened. Someone put a post on
Xiaohongshu and they said how they went to fine print, got
this thing because they were having a bad day.
They took a bite into it and allof a sudden their eyes opened up
and the world started singing. And like, I had a certain
feeling of I feel comfortable. And then after they bumped into

(09:40):
this person on the street by mistake, dropping their little
toast. And then that person picked up
the toast saying, Oh yeah, I think I fall in love with you.
Yeah, yeah, you're right. You might have even like made
like a shitty video or something.
Sure, one of those things. And then like after that, jump
to two months later they're dating.
Three months later she's pregnant.
Four months later they're married.
Yes, you know 5. Months later, she has a baby.

(10:01):
Yeah, it's not adding up, but sure, who cares, right?
And then now you have this new triangle like that is the toast
of love that will find me my spouse.
What? I toast, Yeah.
Whatever. Yeah.
That's it. I love bread.
Yeah, exactly. And then, like, the good thing
is it doesn't discriminate whether you like white bread or

(10:23):
brown bread. It's still just bread, you know?
Yeah, and and there's, and everyone goes here like I need
to do this. And the only way the magic
works, according to the Xiaomi post, is you must do the exact
same pose. Yes.
For the for for the your Prince Charming to show up.
Well, I, I sure am. Was not their Prince Charming
because the three of them. So again, this is when I was
getting annoyed because I saw now that the photo session

(10:45):
started. Yeah, three of them have one
toast and one coffee. That's when I just went fuck
you. Yeah, Yeah.
I am not. You're not going to enjoy this.
You're not going to enjoy. I'm not going to ruin it for
them. But they wanted my spot because
my spot is the popular spot where the fine print logo word
is like on the wall because you can't have the wall sit.

(11:06):
Cool. On the sheet, I'm like, oh look,
I'm casually sitting. Yeah, just sipping.
Sipping Yeah, Yeah. So they now have to sit on the
other side of it, in front of the restaurant next to it and
take photos. They're still trying to get the
fine print word to show, but I'malso right next to it.
Oh, man. And that's what I'm like, time
for my book. Just hold off my book.
And I'm just sitting there. And then every now and then I'm

(11:28):
just to fuck with them. Just.
Like ironically, like you know how just now you're saying that
you saw them with 11 toast and the one thing and you're like
fuck you. Yeah, the moment you took your
book out there, probably like fuck you, yes, yes, you piece of
shit. You were not going to read that
book. Yes.
So I take photos you like. Oh dude.
I swear to God that I'm not kidding.
Yeah, a friend, like a random friend of mine haven't seen for

(11:50):
a while. Pass bar.
She just had a baby not long ago.
So I was, I stood like had like chit chat with her, like, you
know, small talk or whatever. But she's actually a film
producer. Yeah.
So I wanted to tell her about the documentary we made because
she's not on social media. So I ended up like, hey, can I
buy you a coffee and tell you about the documentary?
She's like, sure. So I swear to God, I want I went

(12:11):
into fine print, got 2 copies, one for me, one for her and sat
her down. And that was the intention.
It's great that I caught up withher, but it was also the
intention to prolong my time there.
I'm like, I'm going to have a work meeting now and I'm not
watching these guys. We are literally 45 minutes into
this whole thing. I'm talking to Crystal, my
friend, and the three chicks. 45minutes into it, no one has

(12:33):
touched the the the food or the coffee.
And then eventually Crystal left.
They're still going. And then after about 55 minutes
to 60 minutes, they finally given up.
And they given up because one ofthem started eating the toast.
OK, I'm like, it's over. Once you see that first bite and
you're like, time to pack up. Exactly.

(12:56):
I'm like, it's over. And the sad part is so one of
them had a toast and then I think one of the like, one of
the three guards had another bite and you're like, and then
they had like three of them had half the coffee left, both of
them on the pavement and left. And I'm like, oh, just all kinds

(13:16):
of like, you don't care for the money.
You don't. You just came for the photos.
You didn't even enjoy anything. You're now eating stale toast.
And yeah, like. That that that's The thing is
that I think that's maybe the age of us because we're like no
longer worried about, but we have to let people know we had a
good time. Yeah, you know.

(13:37):
Do you remember, did you ever doSquarespace?
And no, fuck, what is it called? It's.
The one before Facebook, right? No, it was like, yeah, it was
like you you do it and then you connect it to Facebook.
No, it was something square thatwhen you like check into places.
Oh yeah, yes. Yes, I was saying Squarespace.
That's like whatever website builder.
Yeah, yeah, it's something square.

(13:58):
Like it's so long ago that everyone probably screaming the
name now. So that's when you go like, you
know, a coffee shopping. Checked in, checked in.
Yes, yes. Did you do that?
I did not do that. I'll be on social media from the
day one. It was never my thing.
And I wasn't like, oh, I got to check in.
The people know I was because, like, remember social media for
me was when I was in, yeah, whenI graduated.

(14:19):
Yeah, OK. So yeah, because yeah, I'm
obviously a bit younger than you.
So for me, it was like when I was like, no, I wouldn't say
high school. I was just when I went to
university. Yeah, So, you know, you still in
that I got. Hey, what were you doing in the
old one? Did you see my feed?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I, I get it again.
I I keep saying I get what you're doing, but what I feel
sad for is that. Yeah, but.

(14:41):
Four square. That's actually.
Four square. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 4 square.
So like, what I feel sad is likeyou're missing the point here.
Like I get you're impressing your friends.
I get it. But like, why not impress your
friends and also enjoy this Yes.You know, like, yeah.
You're right. Like, even when we were due for
square back in the day, that's really good.
Yeah. It's not just the goal.
Be like, all right. It's like, I'm doing the thing.

(15:03):
Yeah. And I'm like, OK, let me tell
people that I'm doing this cool thing.
Yeah. But it's also like there is no
pretentiousness to it. Like right now, again, it's all
about like, yeah, it's three people sharing one thing, taking
photos with it. It's like this is just like.
It's also disrespectful for so many reasons.
Yeah, the barista made the coffee.
You're like. Barista made the coffee.
You are also deceiving your followers.

(15:23):
Yeah. Because each of them are doing
the photos individually. Yeah.
So now they're like, oh, she went and took this, took, you
know, ate the thing. Which is genuinely not true.
Yeah. Because the three of them shared
one. I didn't even eat it.
Yeah. So it's just like, yeah.
It's all kind of just like, yeah, it's and then on top of
that, it's the layer of now the locals, not particularly fine

(15:43):
print, but big house. It's over, it's over.
Yeah, it's. You cannot go inside.
Anymore, unless you're like 7:00AM or 8:00 AM or.
Whatever 7:00 AM good luck getting an egg tart ever.
Yeah, and it's like, yeah, in inmy neighborhood and I don't want
to go back into typing shine a lot, but you know, there is a
cool neighborhood. Hang that.
Thank God. Cool beans, cool beans.

(16:05):
But also it's still very much local, like local I, I think.
The audience, Yeah. The audience are local and
actually I, I haven't yet come up with like an exact theory to
why it's not that appealing to because you're there.
Oh, yes, yes, no. No, but I feel maybe it just
might be a little bit too off from like the the escalators and

(16:26):
everything. No.
Well, not really, because peoplestill come around, take photos
with the graffiti walls and stuff.
Yeah, yeah. But they see it.
But that's the thing that that's, that's to genuinely
appreciate it, you know? Yes, yes.
There's no like I'm I got to enjoy this.
True, true. Yeah, Yeah.
I mean, I'm happy it's that way.I hope it stays that way.
And again, it's nothing against particular group of people as

(16:50):
much as it's like, I'm OK with you enjoying the thing you got
there 1st and you enjoyed it. OK, good for you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like in front of me, in the
line of a thing, and then you took the last, the last act art
or whatever. I'm like.
OK, too bad. Next time I'll go there early.
Yeah, but for you to grab the last act Art.
That's exactly what it is. I.
Think this is I didn't even eat it took the 20 photos.

(17:11):
I'm like. And then you would literally
throw it in the bin in. Front of me, that's.
Exactly what it is. Yeah.
Now that we're thinking about it, Yeah.
You took the last actor, took 20photos, pretended that you were
followers, that you ate it and then threw it in the bin in
front of me, and now you didn't have it.
I didn't have it. Yeah.
And it's just like, what the fuck, man?
What are we doing? Here.
And that again comes down to that thing of there's a

(17:34):
psychological thing where peoplesay, like when you see someone
drive a nice fancy car, yes, theperson in the car is like, oh,
you're looking at me. Yeah.
And you're actually not looking at it, you're looking at the
car. Yes, right.
Yeah, the same. Thing as that you're looking at
for like oh I'm so jealous of her No, you're not you're just
like oh that looks tasty yes, but I want to tell people to be
jealous of me They're not going to be jealous of you.
They're going to be. That's it.
They don't care about you. Well, there is also the
economics of like the the food fucking bloggers, right?

(17:57):
That's another reason of it is like, I think a lot of them
would hope to be the next influencer.
Yeah. But then that also goes to your
point earlier, which is like, you're not going to be the next
influencer if you're doing the exact same thing.
Yeah, exactly like. Go if you want to be influencer
in the world, Yeah, You're supposed to do something new to
influence. To influence.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, don't be like, oh, that

(18:19):
influenced me, so I'm going to continue influencing.
No, it doesn't. Why would I find you then?
Exactly. Yes, why don't you?
And that actually goes to our main point here.
Why don't you actually go find like, the real Hong Kong?
Yeah, You know, why don't you gofind stuff that actually no one
has been to correct? Yeah.
And then if enough people do that, then first of all, you're

(18:41):
genuinely seeing something that is unique, but also you're
spreading that, you know, the, the, the.
The mass. The Mass.
Yeah, exactly. And you're benefiting the
economy and all of that. Yeah.
So where would you, where would you recommend people like aside
from obviously all the hotspots here that you don't want people
to go to? Well, I mean, the first thing
that you would do is that wherever is a bit away from the

(19:01):
most convenient mode of commuting.
So the so escalator is great, but then you must know the the
immediate block next to is goingto be packed already, of course,
right? You want to go look, look for
the nook and crannies and stuff like that.
So I would recommend using #1 typing Sean Rd.
Hey, hey, OK, delete. OK, editing this out.
Go there. Go to Cool Beans.

(19:23):
No, no, do not do any of this. Sit next to the logo yes and if
you see a guy with a beard goinglike what time is it is 7:00
yet? Yes, this 7:00 have this.
Well, actually you can go withinthis month because I will not be
there because I'm fasting. So you're welcome to go there
until exactly end of March, and then if I see a tourist there, I
might make my dog bite you. Yeah, you have that, but in

(19:47):
reverse. I would say like you you get
away from the West side, go to the east side.
Yes, go to a charm because like that whole area is empty, like
Shankey one. OK, All right.
So if you've, you know, egg waffles, right?
The one of the more popular bands Mommy.
I love mommy pancake. They're very good, yes.
You want the best one, The absolute fucking best one?

(20:08):
It's. Actually not the egg waffles
themselves, it's the waffles. No, I like Manny Pancake, but
I'm saying that's not the waffles.
Waffle, waffle. Oh, with OK, yes, OK, let me
tell you, tell me the best 1 andI can tell you a lot of people
agree with that. It's in Shaaki 1 station.
You get out of the exit, it's called in.
It doesn't have an English name. It's called Taidu goes out and

(20:30):
it's right outside the exit. I believe it's B1 or something.
They have a few. Booths.
These guys legitimately, yeah, the fucking best.
Really better than Mammy becauseMammy is really solid.
Really solid yes guys are legit.Solid.
Wow. Is it like the like the the
classic egg waffles? They also have the regular
waffles. They have the regular like the

(20:51):
bubble one yes they have the eggwaffle with like the peanut
butter all yes, yes, yes they have their own variation of the
chocolate. So nice.
Go to the classics, man. Yes, OK, dude.
Like the I'm telling you, man, they were literally the best.
Yeah, Mommy's convenient becausethey're all over the place.
Yes, these guys have them. OK, OK, that's actually like
that makes me want to go like genuinely.
Shopping one, definitely. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

(21:11):
You'll see. It's like $28.00 for like the
bubble egg waffles. Yes.
And they are really legit. Good nice #2 there's another one
if you go to if you want to havesomething nice and stuff at
Black Sesame ice cream in PrinceEdward.
Outside the Prince Edward station there's a road walking
towards Champs Chapo. I believe it's exit D1 I think.
You come out and you'll walk andyou'll see the store that sells

(21:33):
nothing but black sesame stuff. That's so cool.
Dude, it is insanely good. Yeah, buy the black sesame
paste. Yeah, mix them with like vanilla
move and pick ice and whatever and you'll be like oh shit.
Yeah, OK. This is I love how like, yeah,
the recommendations are like outof the center.
Here out of the table and. They're local things, Local
things. And they're not, Yeah.
Not your typical like the Arabica, yeah.

(21:55):
We get it. I know that the craziest part
about the Arabica coffee shop isthat it's in mainland, it's
everywhere. It's just people are going to
that particular one. For that angle.
For that angle. And the stuff and the Kennedy
town one, that's like you're going to the same 1 you have
that. That's kind of like going to
like a Starbucks. Yeah.
When you're like American, it's like, yeah.
Difference. Yeah, yeah.
But yeah. Keep going with the local

(22:15):
recommendations because I would actually also benefit from this.
Those two are good. There's, I'm trying to think of
like other stuff that's kind of more locally.
Yeah, you could go to like, yeah, just go to Shamshapo.
They have a whole street of different things and just try
different stuff like that over there.
I would say there's also one place that does really good
Chung fun. Yeah, that's a bit more popular

(22:36):
with tourists as well. Yes, but it's something near
Apple St. Yeah.
And it's like the old school kind of travel where they're
just root is healthy. Yes, yes.
Well, we went together once to athe clay pot place and they're
also not the nicest. They were not the nicest.
But the food was good. Food was good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But no, this is like good
quality, like like legit stuff. Nice smooth rice rolls.
Yeah. That it's in your Apple St.

(22:57):
If you I believe it should be exit D, No, exit CI.
Think the Apple St. exit one. Yeah.
So you go to the exit C and thenyou it's in, it's in the corner
somewhere. You'll see people lining up all
the time for that. I have a recommendation also the
mango mochi in on Changchao island.
Oh yeah, the big ones there. Is one particular one like there

(23:18):
is like on Changchao I guess I don't know if it's like what's
the origin or the history, but it is like a few of them.
But there is one that is like already popular.
But mochi because the service isso fast, you can still like have
a queue and it moves quickly. But there is one shop, I don't
know the name of it, but you would know where it is.
And the mango mochi there is just phenomenal.
It's way better than any mango mochi I've had.

(23:40):
Any mochi I've had because you have different flavors, but the
mango mochi is like the classic one.
And yes you it's literally worthgo to Changchao Island just for
the mango mochi. God damn dude, so good.
Like I'll tell you this though that I believe that brand might
be around Hong Kong Island as well because I've seen like the
Changchao mango mochi brand somewhere in the shops like.
But I because I like really enjoy it.
I had it in different places. I had it on Llama Island.

(24:01):
I had it. There is like a stall on Temple
St. and stuff. It's still different there, I
think maybe because the turnoveris so high so that it's super
fresh. Yeah.
And actually the ladies inside there is a sign that says don't
take photos or videos or whatever.
So they're like, and they're alllike, it's very traditional.
They're all like a bunch of middle-aged women.
Yeah. And it's just like very manual,
very like, you know, keep it moving kind of thing.

(24:23):
So that place, that place is legit.
Yeah. I really.
Really enjoy it. I mean something like hence what
I'm trying to say is when I see a lot of the youngsters and
they're doing the same one and again I'm I'm so tired of that
same old crossing the road halfway, midway you.
Got what is going on with that, but I don't know how did that
even. Start it's just like clearly
it's one of those things walkingyes you know like yeah, yeah 1

(24:46):
foot in the air about to put my foot down.
You got that moment you got thatmoment I'm like yes.
It was great for the first Photo.
By the 20th, it's like we, we, we.
Get was it great for the first photo?
Because I'm also, I genuinely like you say, you get it, I
don't. I mean, OK, it's like, is it
like that picture with The Beatles cover?
Is it that that's what I was? I don't know if it's that, but I
think that same concept, people want to do the same pose.
Now, if there was some sort of big celebrity that did that

(25:07):
thing that became the pose, I kind of get it.
But like if it was such a big deal, I'm pretty sure like let's
say The Beatles, like, I mean, everyone seen that.
Exactly, so I'm just like who could have?
And maybe it's just what and maybe it's also those short 2
second clips. Yeah, this is how the phone does
the pre photo. Videos.
Yes. Yes.
Maybe that's what it. Is.
Oh, I see you want. To get that pre photo video.
Yes, yeah. Now all phone cameras do it like

(25:28):
that, like they call it the LivePhoto or whatever.
Yeah, yeah. Have a little moment.
I'm like, yeah. Just just take, Just take.
Yeah, just yeah, yeah. Couldn't even finish that.
Just. There is another one that you
will probably the name of know the name of on typing Shannon
St. itself. There is a small cha cha we.
Went together. With like Tim Chan and them, and

(25:49):
actually even back then it was busy and we couldn't eat.
Yeah, but that was just like a regular busy.
Yeah. Now it's impossible.
Yeah, it's over. I know it's completely over.
I'm sure they're loving it. Oh yeah, yeah, the ladies are
really nice and they're typical Hong Kong service.
They don't care. But actually those ladies
particularly are nicer than the average cha cha thing.
But like now, and I used to pickup from there like once a week

(26:11):
or whatever. So you can either go literally
at 10:30 or at like 2:00 PM between there then because it's
already relatively popular with like office workers and stuff in
the area, which again is completely fine.
Yeah. But now, unfortunately, it's got
Xiao Hong shoot and it's. Over.
I got Xiao Hong. Shoot, man.
Yes and then that was it like I have not eaten there for the

(26:32):
last like 3 months. Yeah forget it because I just
there is no yeah, I can't I can't find the spot.
The best you can do is to do take away.
Yeah, yeah, but it's not the same, man.
You won't be sitting over there to do it.
Now. Let me ask you this, though, OK?
Now, if we were to basically be the next Xiaomi influencer, yes.
And we have the power to create a command, a new trend, yes,

(26:54):
that people are going to just follow without asking questions,
Yes. Is there anything in your mind
that you can think of that you would like everyone to?
Absolutely. Go to a comedy show.
Yeah. Yes.
By I was. That's one cue I don't mind.
People, you know what I would like them to do?
Yes, go to the comedy show. Yes, go there before the show
starts, take a photo sitting in the audience and leave so

(27:17):
Watkins can buy a ticket and go.Sit in the same seat again, Yes,
I have no problem with that. If they buy a ticket, come take
a photo with backstage logo and on stage and leave.
Yeah and then walk in. Can actually come in and enjoy
the show and by absolutely no problem.
With that and by always in your social media post that enjoy the
English show. Yes, yes.
Oh my God, that's. Such a genius.
Idea. Okay, yes, hilarious.

(27:39):
Look, I will throw in this. You can do a VIP ticket and take
photos with the comedian. Sure, Yeah, and pretend that you
just enjoy the show. And if we do enough of that, we
can probably go do a collaboration matter to saws.
If you wax statue of us, it's a photo after all, they wouldn't
know that was just a wax statue.Yes, and the truth is because

(28:00):
that wax statue would be doing the exact same pose.
Yes, that would help them take that exact same photo.
Correct, right. So we'd do that for.
Free move, Yes. Yes, exactly.
And if anything, people like, we'd rather take a picture with
the wax version of you. Yeah, Because we guarantee we
know the pose. Yes.
You know, the same pose again. Exactly.
And I'm like, that works. That's a win, win thing.
Oh my God, that's genius. I would love, yes.
Someone in either Xiaohongshu oror, you know, new influencers,

(28:24):
reach out. We'll have a special deal where
you come to the comedy show, buya ticket.
Yeah. And then come in, take as many
photos of the venue as you will.Even let you step on that stage,
yes, kind of stand in front of the mic, be like, oh whoa, try
some English comedy. Yes, we will say do it.
Look, you are allowed to say youheadline the show, OK, sure.
Just headline the show will giveyou 30 minutes before the actual

(28:47):
Showtime starts. Yeah, take photos all you want.
We will. You can have you can have your
friends sit there as if like they're.
Laughing, yeah. Yes, laughing.
We will take the photos for you. This is how far we'll go.
We'll take the photos for you. We'll line up all the comedians
before we get the wax statues. We'll line up the actual human
comedians. You take photos with all of them

(29:07):
and then you leave. Yeah.
And then that's it. Yeah, That's the deal.
And then you can say that you'reyou actually jumped on stage
during the show and you hijackedit and you were better than the
comedian. Sure.
And we will go and comment on the thing.
We're like, oh, my God. Thank you.
So cool. So cool.
You were amazing. Thanks for jumping on our stage.
Yeah, we'll give mutual commentswhere it doesn't justify we

(29:29):
agreed or disagree. What?
Yes, yes, yes. We're like, whoa, wow.
No, actually, what we'll do is fire emoji.
Fire emoji. That's.
It. That's it.
Yeah, it will do what a lot of boyfriends after the third year
together we start doing. Like, really?
Yeah. Oh.
That's crazy. No cool.
It's a combination of yes, exactly whatever reactionary 1
exactly. That's OK.

(29:51):
So yes, comedy show is one idea.Your turn.
I would say what I would like them to do is try to take photos
walking downhill backwards because it's just entertaining
for the non tourists to be like OK they're doing it again man.
Yes, yes. But also I see that you are also
saying that as it would probablybe the last photo in Hong Kong

(30:13):
because the next photo is going to be at the hospital.
Yeah, yeah. Or, or the new trend is
basically that if you can get that snapshot of just before
your body hits the ground, yes, I know don't don't hit your
head. Yes, we're not trying to cause
damage, but I fell down Yes, yes, that thing and you like you

(30:34):
were taking taking a selfie, butoh, I fell.
Oh yes, by accident. Falling into the the fun of Hong
Kong. Yes, yes, falling in love with
Hong Kong. Exactly, Yeah.
With the T-shirt that says I don't know.
That would be the trend, fallingin love with Hong Kong.
You have to take pictures of youfalling down.
Oh my God. So good.
Yeah, yeah. I've been holding for a Hong.

(30:55):
Falling for Hong Kong? There you go.
Oh my, there you go. It is Kitech someone.
Where someone started? Yes, exactly.
Yeah, exactly where. Is that falling for Hong Kong?
Falling for Hong Kong or way better than Hello Hong Kong?
Yeah, that or the other option is, you know how the
government's trying to push withthe pandas and everything,
right? Yes, All right. 2 Two ways to
pandastic Did you see that? Oh, I haven't seen that you.
Literally have like on the Airport Express and a bunch of

(31:17):
other places, it just says like, yeah, Hong Kong blah blah blah,
pandastic, yeah, Oh my, this is where we are right now.
Yeah, we're pandastic. Pandastic.
Let's do this. All right, so this is my other
thing the government consider other than falling for Hong
Kong, which I think is goddamn genius.
It's really good to do. This is that's so good, which I
know they're gonna never use it,but OK.
The other one is this you want to do a panda trend, right?

(31:38):
The trend is no eye makeup, onlyeye bags.
Yeah. All right.
Yeah. Staying up all night in Hong
Kong. Yes.
You know it. Never.
Hong Kong never sleeps Hong Kong.
And the trend is you come here, take a photo with you with your
eye bags, you can do that party all night, right?
Like a panda. Yes, yes, yes.
OK. And then and then the next day

(31:59):
you deserve to get your coffee from fine print and your ex Art
from Big House. From Big House, Yeah.
Other option is this is Hong Kong is all about the attitude,
everyone's rude and everything. We embrace that.
Yes, we embrace it to the point again the panda and inspired
version is that get into a fightin Hong Kong.
Yes, I love that idea, right. Actually he I will one up you

(32:22):
and say you your your new challenge if you come here is
you try to make it to Hong Kong meltdown.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. There you go.
So if you are, if you make it toHong Kong Meltdown, you win.
Yeah, Yeah. That's your new challenge.
So yeah, Hong Kong meltdown is one of those options if you're a
night person as well. The other one like Jose is like

(32:43):
the The thing is you come to Hong Kong, your objective is,
you know, like how the there's atrend now where you have that
the hair curler stuck in your hair.
The one you don't have, they have the little hair curl.
Oh yeah, yes, on the front of the head.
Yes, right. That's a that's a trend, right?
Is it? I guess I've seen it enough to
make it I've. Seen it as well, but yeah, I
guess you're. Right, I really don't think that
that many people who forgot. You're right.

(33:03):
Yes, yeah, it is like it looks like you just left the shower.
It's probably one of the. Trend, Yes, yes, so.
Busy. No time to do this, you know.
OK, so the trend is you don't leave Hong Kong unless you have
at least one black eye. Nice.
Like you got to you got to do something yes, you're like, I
left Hong Kong and have a panda.Yes, I mean, that's another
trend. You get that black guy.

(33:24):
Now I know what's going to happen now that's going to get
the same problem that people hadabout licking the the toilet
seats. Yes.
It's like, no, dude, don't encourage that stuff.
Hence why again, my encouragement is this falling
for Hong Kong. That's I've still been in my
hands. I think that's a good one.
I don't expect you to. The idea is not to actually
fall, is to create the illusion of I'm here falling because
we're so many slopes on Hong Island.

(33:45):
Yes, you do the whole thing. Actually really good idea, yeah.
Right. And you take photos where you
put your, it's as if you're toppling over.
But actually on a flat Rd. you take it on a slant.
Yeah, you pretend you're fallingover.
Yes, you get it. Yeah.
What is it called? Illusionary.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. The illusion angle thing, right?
Yeah. So same thing.
You're on a slope. You take a photo with the angle,
so it seems like on a flat Rd. but actually you're just leaning

(34:05):
forward as you normally would a slope.
Yes, Right. So that's one.
The other option, as I said, is stay up all night partying until
you look like a panda, then you did Hong Kong.
I have a couple couple more recommendations.
One is instead of all clutteringaround the mid level escalator,
there is another escalator in sign point with the center St.
one. With the Market 1.

(34:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So next to it is actually a
blocked off part from traffic and it's quite wide.
It's way wider than the part here.
So that's a good slope. Exactly.
That's a really good slope. And actually some people do go
there because if you stand at the top of it by second or you.
Can see all the way down you. Can see all the way down.
You can actually see the the ocean as well.
So it's a cool photo and I thinkit's still underrated.

(34:49):
So why don't y'all go there? Or at least divide.
Yeah. And then, yeah, just go there.
That's actually a genuinely coolanother cool spot instead of
everyone doing coming here and doing exactly the same.
Thing and I think I think actually what you can do is
basically make that into a trendwhere the idea is that people
take a video of themselves goingfrom the bottom all the way
walking along to the top yes andbe like I made it yes see it's

(35:11):
good for your health. It's good for your health.
And if you are lazy, that particular escalator going from
1st to 2nd street is the slowestescalator.
Yeah, it's, it's actually already like it's very narrow
and it's so slow. You can't overtake anyone,
right? You can't.
Overtake anyone. So that's already kind of a
tourist, a funny tourist attraction.
I don't know why. I think it's because there's a

(35:32):
lot of old people. Yeah.
So that's probably the reason. But it's like so slow.
And it's quite funny, really. Yeah.
Yeah. But I wouldn't that be cool to
have like the slowest escalator in Hong Kong somewhere and that
becomes the truest attraction. I think that would be the
tourist. Attraction.
Yeah. This one, Yeah.
That itself, yes. Yes, I agree.
Yes, again, different. You go down the slope and you go
back up and go down. Yes, yes, there you go right

(35:53):
there man. There is actually a scale I
think like a public scale for like the way like vegetables or
something when you, when you like go shopping in the actual
wet market. Yeah.
So I will add to the challenge and say like you can just bring
random stuff to put on the scaleand try to achieve like a
certain. Number or something, right?
No, no, no random stuff. No good.
You take whatever your wallet isput on the scale.

(36:15):
That's fine. That would be then you, that's
that's your your number. Yes, yes, yes, yeah.
Everyone goes and takes whateverthe wallet and the and the rule
is you can't fill it up. That's sheet right, of course,
but whatever that moment of the day, yes, and the game is to try
to see. Can you take a photo of the
morning wallet? And then fun, yes.
To see how much of the day spending in the.
Yes. Well, I will say that if your

(36:38):
mainland tours, that doesn't really work because they're
using WeChat and Alipay. OK, OK, OK.
OK. So that's the idea to encourage
you to cash. Yes, that's true.
Yes, right. Yeah.
So you wouldn't though because it's just way more convenient,
which actually I kind of agree with as well too.
Sometimes it's. Just easy.
All right. OK, then we'll do that.
Or your backpack. Yes, that's better.

(36:58):
Morning time is empty, yes, yes and you have to show yes, yes
how the way changed. Yes, exactly.
If you picked up snacks, did youdrink a lot of water?
Yeah, yeah. Did you buy something fun from
the Cat Street or whatever? Or here's another one.
I think this may be a cool thing.
Okay, you have two scales. One is a item scale, the other

(37:20):
is a human scale, right? Explain.
Right? Yes, you start the morning.
Your total weight bag plus U is equal to this.
Well, that's already I I can already see that this is not
going to work because no guards are, ever.
Going to Yeah, Yeah. So you make the boyfriend do it.
You make the boyfriend. Yes, you make the boyfriend.
Do it and the idea is this is that at the end of the day you
must have the same weight. After eating all the snacks and

(37:42):
everything, that's fun, that's. Really fun.
Yeah, you know, and you have to somehow bounce it off with
either like you've. Give it away or something.
Yeah, yeah, you know, then you saw you've eaten and bounced it
off just right. Yes, you went and if you didn't,
then you have to go up and down that that slope.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes. And there's a clock there that
you can't tamper with and that tells you exactly the date and
time. So you can't cheat.

(38:02):
Oh, it's actually this morning. Like.
No, no, no. It's right there, like the
newspaper that you hold on, you know.
Oh. My God, someone yeah put take
some of these ideas falling. For Hong Kong people.
Falling for Hong Kong, we built an entire campaign just off off
the top of our heads with no preparation whatsoever.
You're welcome actually, if anyone from the government takes
this and adopted. I hope they don't listen to this

(38:23):
podcast but go on. I will say here on record that I
will not. I allow them to take the ideas
for free. We're not going to claim any
rights to any of this. Yeah.
Just use them. Yeah, just, you know, just.
For the sake of Hong Kong, man, just for the sake of Hong Kong,
for Hong Kong. And it's also for the sake of
decluttering the the very congested areas of of the

(38:45):
tourists in the Hong Kong islands.
Yeah, tell me the other. Slopes you can go to.
There's other slopes you can go to.
There is also another one that just went to a couple of weeks
ago around the, it's not really a slope.
It's more of like a cool hike that I hope more people
discover, which is the Thai TimeReservoir area.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it's like, actually when

(39:06):
you go around there, like you just go off the Thai Tham
reservoir, there is actually a bunch of waterfalls there that
you can just discover. And if it's warm enough, you can
literally jump in the waterfall, just go.
And how cool is that? Yeah.
It's like AI ought to say way better hang, but it's like a
different hang than, you know, coming to Hong Kong and then
just eating big house or whatever.
It's like, you know, get it. Yeah.

(39:26):
Yeah. It's like, yeah.
Where else will you find, like waterfalls?
Pretty much in the middle of thecity.
Yeah. You know, Crystal Time Reservoir
still like really close. And yeah, it's it's pretty cool
thing to do. Yeah.
So I know you, you're generally not on board.
I have waterfalls in the shower, but go I mean like, I like how
I'm also in the middle of the city.
I don't think you have waterfalls in your shower.

(39:47):
Well, my water does fall in my shower.
It does fall by definition. I have waterfalls.
Yes, but I've seen it. Unless you really come even
close to replicating a waterfallI'm going to disagree.
Like when you say like oh I can't I don't want to be in the
park because I can just look at the sun from my window.
I kind of understand. But you do not have waterfall in
shower. Well, technically, you know,

(40:09):
you've never showered in my house.
I have seen the shower, I don't.Need that might be the.
I also turned it on one time just to see that water pressure.
He didn't. Even know that that might be the
decoy this I might have like a special bat cave yes you know on
one floor below that you haven'teven mentioned to anybody OK and
that's where like I slide down apole just to go for showers you

(40:29):
don't know that if. You have that I will tell
everyone on Home Shoe to find it.
Come up here and take a floor the two.
Floor. Yeah, that's good to have a man.
So, OK, let's give recommendations to even like to
go to Kowloon. Yeah, because again, Kowloon
actually has a similar problem, which is around the Tim Tarto
area. Oh my goodness.

(40:50):
Yeah, it's obviously madness. It's always been madness.
But then I feel like once you step, you know, go away from
that Tim Tartoi to Jordan area. Yeah, you can probably find like
also like cooler stuff that people just don't bother going
to do you have anything that. I mean, like there are the ones
that people like the jade marketand everything, but that's just

(41:11):
another market. No, that's just shopping.
Yeah, no, I would say if you're willing to walk along the sea
front and go all the way to HongKong side and just keep going
there to, let's say Wimpo and all that, Yeah, that's pretty
nice over there. Yeah, it's far enough where it's
like, it's not touristy enough where it's like all tourists,
but it's a beautiful way. You get to have another angle of
the the harbour side. Yeah, that's pretty good.
Nice. Otherwise, I would say this.
Make an adventure where you picka food item and your goal is to

(41:34):
find five different places in five different districts.
Wow, Fun. Yeah.
So even like if it's like fish balls or whatever, you just want
to try like it has to be snacky, obviously.
Snacky Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like it could be some sort
of trend, like because like the number 5, like as Crispino said,
like 5, it sounds like the number, which is like 5.
Yes, yes, yes, like 55. It was quick, right?
OK. Yeah, it could be a quick 5.

(41:54):
Yes, see another idea. Yeah, exactly.
So you have so many good things. But now let's go with lion
dances at the Kitex Stadium. Oh, I do.
That kind of stuff. But hey, you know, it is what it
is. Man, yes, it's all good.
Well, I mean, what? What is the origin of live line
dancing? I'm guessing some lion was
having a seizure and the owner didn't want to admit it.

(42:15):
I was. Asking you as an actual local
but as soon as you said I am guessing I'm like Nope he
doesn't know shit. Lion is having a seizure.
He's like jumping on poles. There's no fucking wrong with
your lion. Dude I saw there was a video of
a lion dance. Fuck there was something really
cool that happened but now my Also I think one thing that

(42:37):
happens with the fasting is thatyour blood sugar goes like
crashes, especially at the end and when you're addicted to
sugar like. Me again, no doesn't.
Happen so yeah, yeah. So there is a video of a line
dance that something happened. It's not that's OK, it's.
Information we don't need to know no one's life has been.
But I promise you, as Mitch Hedberg used to say, sometimes

(43:00):
people don't laugh at one of hisjokes.
And he goes, if you get in my head and go in my head and tell
me it's not funny. That's true, actually.
Yes, exactly. I promise you.
Yeah, you're going to my head. Your notes was very funny.
Man. But you are about to head to to
Melbourne, you have the charity gigs we talked about last week
and then you're heading to Melbourne.
What are you excited about the most this time around?

(43:22):
Honestly, it's just going there and trying to see can I go even
bigger? I'm doing the Art Center
Melbourne for my shows over there and it's going to be like
prestigious. Wait, the Art Center is
different from the the trade hall?
Oh, very. Different.
It's on the other side when you're at the town hall side
now. Wow, it's cool.
It's like more prestigious I believe.
I could maybe even say it's equivalent to, let's say,
Cultural Center, City Hall. Wow.

(43:44):
You know, like have that kind ofdeal to it, yes.
Yes, I was like, OK, we're doingit there, right?
Let's see what happens now. Fingers crossed it goes well.
Yeah, well, we have a bunch of listeners and followers in
Melbourne, including our friend Bruce.
Shout out Bruce, I'm sure he would come to the show but it is
exciting that you're like now after how many years you have
been. Man since 2015.

(44:05):
Oh my God. Almost every year, except for
the yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, wow, yeah, yeah. There is a bunch of people I
would recommend now that like we're getting very close to the
Melbourne Comedy Festival. Season 1 is an Urbandas Gupta,
who was just here a couple of weeks ago.
Fantastic. He has a run at the Melbourne
Comedy Festival. Our friend Rizal van Giesel is

(44:26):
also at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
Go check out his friend, his show Arrested and Kevin J is
also going to be there. You should check him out.
Do you have anyone that you haveon your recommendation?
List for this, but like just honestly go down there and if
you see comedians hang out, yes,go watch all the people hanging
out over there. Like if you hang out, let's say

(44:48):
with cabin of results, whoever'shanging with them, go watch
their show. Yeah, that's that's a good idea.
And I would actually I am biasedand I would say go support the
Asian team, like the, you know, the South, the comics from SE
Asians. Not only that, you know, they
might not have a lot of fans there or whatever, but also, you
know, for them, they would really appreciate the locals if
you're Melbourne local locals coming out for them and be like,

(45:10):
hey, you know, yeah, I came all the way to to see you
particularly. Yeah, it's just like such a big
boost because a lot of the localbased artists, they already have
fans. Yeah, it's always a good time.
I will plan to go next year for that.
But here in Hong Kong we have Jiao Ying summers coming in
mid-april. So that's in a month from now

(45:33):
jogging summers is Internet sensation basically and she'll
be at base hall on the 15th of April and I think by the time
this comes out we'll probably added another show.
So check her out and then we areworking a couple more tour dates
for bigger artists as well. So check out backstage comedy.
Also, when I apologize this, theepisodes for this month are

(45:55):
probably going to be slightly shorter than usual because of my
fasting and energy level, but I promise we'll make it up to you
When? Right after Ramadan, but we're
going to keep it at the 45 minute mark.
So thanks everyone for tuning in.
If you see, here's my last advice.
If you see a tourist doing something in your neighborhood
that you know is like just typical and boring and just like

(46:18):
everybody else, just please, please photo bomb them.
Just stand in the back and make sure that you ruin as many
photos as you can. Maybe that becomes a new trend.
Yes, exactly. If you just stand in the back of
the photo, just be like what? I'm standing here.
It's public area. All right.
Thanks everyone. Fuck Chao Hong Chu.
Bye. Bye.
