(00:01):
So I reiterate here, the bill isdead.
The story of this great city is about the years before this
night. Hey everybody, it's a new

(00:24):
episode of Ho Ho Hong Kong. Feels like we haven't seen each
other since. Forever.
It's been like what, 2 weeks? The audience doesn't know.
Yeah, this is. Another another day that's into
another podcast. Oh, yeah.
But this one, oh man, a lot has happened.
A lot has. Happened, man.
It's like it's, it's still surreal.
Slash registering slash. Yeah, I know.
I acknowledge it. Let me let me just remind you of

(00:47):
the last time I saw you in person.
Yeah, before today. The last time I saw you.
Yeah. You were standing on one of the
biggest stages in Hong Kong. Oh yeah, In front of a lot, a
lot of people. Yeah, it.
Was like 7000 some people. And you were talking.
Yes. That's the last time I saw you.
Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, right.
That's. Yeah, why were you up there?
So apparently the Hunger Coliseum needed someone to do

(01:09):
comedy for them and I'm like, I fine, yes, I'm available.
And I was like, what do I have to do with that?
So you. Have to cancel your gig at the
the what is it called the hive at the?
I cancel my gig at my home whereI sit at my computer and be like
finally catching up on emails. I was like, guys like, you know,
I can't be doing this stuff. Scheduled work to, you know,
work at home and everything, like find it's Hong Kong

(01:31):
station, I can go. There wait, so back story here a
little bit. I found out about this like
maybe two or three days before SO.
You're not. Yeah.
OK, so this is what happened right?
Now we can talk. Yeah.
Now we can talk about. Yeah.
So basically MO messaged me and he said, hey, we have this guest
who can do the podcast. Yes.
Can we do this Saturday? Yeah, Right.
You messaged me and I was like, I'm going to be busy this whole

(01:53):
weekend. Yes.
And like MO was like, is it whatI think it is?
Yeah. And I was like, I can't remember
exactly the word, but I was like, I can't.
I can't tell. You.
I can't tell you. Yeah.
Something like I can't tell you or like I can't tell you why I'm
going to be busy. Yes, yeah.
But I mean, it was so obvious you're saying it just you didn't
want to confirm. What was the word?
So funny. I will find it.
Oh yeah. Yeah, cuz it was weird cuz when

(02:15):
you messaged me they had just confirmed it I believe that
morning that I was like okay, yeah the day before.
Okay, yes here's you know we're talking about oh, you know
here's we have this guest whatever yeah and then you
respond with hey man, I just found out I'm going to be busy
this whole weekend. I'm not officially allowed to
get into details. You're so bad at this.

(02:36):
I'm not officially. I mean, I've been an honest
little boy my whole life. I mean, this is lying thing.
I'm not good at it, man. And then I respond with an all
uppercase. I know what that means.
I'm yelling because that's uppercase.
I can guess. Oh my God.
And then you respond with don't make any guesses, slash
announcement, etcetera. And I respond with yeah, and
then you go literally confirmed last night.

(02:57):
So you're already telling me. Yeah, I'm like telling I'm gonna
be busy this weekend. But yeah, don't tell anyone,
please. I'm like, I won't tell anyone.
You know me. Just give me a goddamn.
Ticket. Yeah, exactly.
And I'll say let me figure it out and relax.
This is just all like suddenly happening, right?
So, so basically what happened was I did get contacted, but it
was very ambiguous. I was like, I don't know who
this person is. I don't know what's going on,

(03:18):
but there was like. Was it an account that says like
Jimmy A Yang? He has one of the Jimmy Yang 2.
I'm like, yeah, you know, this guy, basically the organizer, he
contacted me on Instagram. He's like, hello?
And I was like, hello? And that was it.
I was just like, OK, I'll leave it at that, you know?
Anyway, no Long story short, they finally confirmed that I

(03:39):
believe one week before the shows happened, right?
And I had I actually kept that weekend on hold in my schedule
because I wanted to go watch theshow anyway.
And I was like, you know, it seems ticket seems crazy and
everything. I don't know which day I can
watch it so. You have it.
You didn't have a ticket? I didn't have a ticket.
OK, so because what was your original plan?
Oh, wait, no, sorry, sorry. So this guy, so William, he was

(03:59):
very nice guy. I had helped him before with
some of his charities and everything.
And he had told me that Jimmy's coming to Hong Kong, right.
Would you like. And I was like dude, yeah, I
mean of course, can you reserve 2 tickets this before tickets
were on sale? Oh, I see, I see.
And I was like, I would really be appreciated if 2 tickets and
I was like, you know if I can't find I'll go buy my own tickets,
no big deal. But I was like, I'll pay you
back for it. I don't want to do the whole
free ticket thing. Sure, sure, sure.

(04:19):
He's like no problem, I can reserve 2 tickets.
He had the whole lot pre sale tickets.
He. Reserved.
I see. Way back, way back so.
You were gonna go buy from him, basically.
He had kept 2 aside for you. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. So initially it was Saturday,
but he was like, I'm not really sure which night it will be.
I'm like, no problem, I'll just keep my schedule open.
So you let me know which night it is.
Whatever. OK.
And when ticket sales got all started, I went crazy.
I was like, oh, shit, OK, this is insane.

(04:40):
And I told him I'm like, hey, I will definitely take you up on
that thing. And I'll, you know, keep it
flexible. I have my weekend open.
So just which I let me know, yeah.
It's available, I will. Talk.
You know you do what you need todo.
Whoever your friends you want togive to them, they give me the
whatever you have left the 2. Tables.
What was his relationship with the gig like?
Why does he have like a? Family, I believe he knew some
sort of like connection with theAmerican side organizers.

(05:01):
OK yeah, yeah. So he had that, you know, so
basically he had told me becauseI'm, I remember, remember when
Rizal Van Giesel was here? Yeah.
And I told you, like, Jimmy's inHong Kong.
Yes. Right.
And he, Jimmy's already posting online.
I'm in Hong Kong. Yeah.
William actually messaged me that.
Hey, what shows are that that weekend, Right.
Jimmy wants to know. Yeah, I told him that this and I
told Rizal Van Giesel doing the show I'm hosting.
I remember and I told you right in touch, yeah.

(05:24):
Yeah, and I told you I was like, hey, reserve a booth just in
case. I remember that.
But that was the same night Jimmy O Yang decided to have
dinner with Dao Wong, right? And I was like, fair enough.
OK. Of course.
Yeah, fine. You know, I, I would do the same
thing either as well, right? So that was when everything went
crazy, when I was like, Oh my God, He had been with Dale and
everyone's like, OK, this guy's getting speculation.
Yeah, you know, All right, so basically, Long story short, the

(05:46):
whole time William had kept 2 tickets reserved.
I wasn't really sure which nightit'll be.
It might be Saturday, Friday. I don't know if that's cool.
I go with that. And then I did get contacted by
organizer. I wasn't sure at the time, but I
was like, wait, I'm putting two and two together and this guy
seems to do concerts. I'm like, maybe it might be, you
know, and. Did you know the organizer from
before? No, not from before, OK, But I
did after he had not replied me for a day.

(06:07):
I was like, let me see who this guy is, right?
Checked out his Instagram. I'm like, wait, he's taking
photos with Nicholas Tan and allthese guys.
I'm like, he seems to be like a show organizer.
Maybe just maybe he does this stuff.
OK, right. So and then I was like, OK, what
the hell? Why is why do I get like my
phone is losing? I'm losing my mind.
My God, dude, it's buzzing at this hour.

(06:28):
I'm like, who the Hell's callingme?
It's not stopping. What is it?
Apparently some video call thing.
I'm like, it doesn't matter. Okay, so basically I checked.
I'm like, okay, this guy seems to be a concert organizer.
Maybe this might be by the JimmyO Yang thing.
And I responded back and he messaged me the next day.
Hey, what's that? Me.
OK, this guy seems to be something right?
So then I'd message him, but he he's a slow responder.

(06:49):
I could imagine he that deals with so many things.
Of course he'll reply me when hereplies to me after 2 days and
get a response to my ad's fine. You know, I'll, I'll follow up
in a couple of days and see. So Long story short, I believe
it was like the Saturday before the shows happen.
He confirmed. Yeah, we're interested in having
you open, but it wasn't clear ifI'm doing 1 show or all shows.
Right. And then I replied it to him.

(07:09):
I'm like, hey, no sure thing. Just letting you know, I'm
actually, I'm available the whole weekend, right?
Let me know which show. It's all cool, right?
I'll work around you think I'm happy?
It's my my pleasure to help out,you know?
No problem. And then they got back to me
saying, no, we'd like you to open all five shows, right?
And I was like, so all. Yeah, it was 5, but yeah, five
shows. Yeah, it was 5.
And I was like, yeah, OK. I was like, what?

(07:30):
You know, and I was like, how long do you want?
You know, do you want like and Iwas like, hey, I'm happy to talk
to you. Then they gave me the contact of
the the pharma guy seek one one of the the the shorter guy,
right? Yeah, the got me his contact.
He he wants to talk to you, to get to know what your will.
Be playing to the listeners and the audience who pharma are.
Okay Pharma is a Hong Kong rap group that also does comedy and
like fun concerts, that kind of thing.
So think of it as like like likea parody song group, like a like

(07:54):
a duo. And they do like the, the, the,
the, the double talk, the song, same thing.
They do that the dual talk thingas well.
So in other words, I wasn't evensure what the details, you know,
what the arrangements and everything.
I didn't know. So they told me.
So organizer wants you to talk to the other opening acts
basically. And I was like, I guess that
they're going to be opening, right.
So I contact the C1 on WhatsApp and we had a quick call.

(08:16):
He said, I just want to get an idea what you talk about so we
don't overlap. I'm like I'm telling you we
won't overlap because I'm. Because you don't.
You're not Indian. Yeah, you're not Indian #1 And I
was like, and I was like, you know, the fact that the
organizer told me, hey, we want to do some English mixer with
the Cantonese a bit. And I was like, we have an idea
what bits will kill. And I was like, I'm doing 8
minutes, let me rock it with these strong bits and

(08:36):
everything. And I told them, yeah, I was
joking about how you speak in Cantonese.
Hong Kong people don't assume I don't do it.
Or like learning Cantonese doesn't really make sense.
And they're like, OK, that's fine, but it won't overlap.
Because I figured, like farmer, what they would like to do, talk
about Jimmy or talk about being in the Coliseum.
I'm like, sure man. I'm all I'm not roofing, not.
Roofing yeah so I was like okay cool and then so I wasn't really

(08:57):
sure about my set but I kind of like thought about it I'm like
do I wanna do this bit that bit I was timing stuff to see what's
solid. Will this be canto enough?
Is this too much Canto stuff like that?
And then by I believe that Thursday I had a gig at night at
6:00 PM All right, so I totally organizer, I can be there
Thursday the whole day. I got to leave by 5:30.
I get there. So before Thursday, before we're
going. To call SO Thursday.

(09:18):
Is rehearsal day? Yes, exactly.
One day. Friday is the first show, right?
Yeah. So this is me, this little kid
who's only been to the Colosseumas an audio spectator.
I go there and I show up, right? And I'm like, OK, I guess we go
to the staff area. Empty.
It's empty. I walk in and I get there around
2:00 for rehearsals, right? I was, in case they do it, they
wanted me to be there at 2:30. I'm like no problem, I'll be
there, you know, whatever we getthere.

(09:39):
I'm looking at the room going whoa, this is insane.
And I was just filming like Oh my, and till that time I wasn't
allowed or was told don't post anything yet.
Of course I'm like a fair, you know, no announcements, no,
nothing, right? Sure, fair enough.
All right, So I'm over there just like losing my mind.
I'm like, wow, this is so cool. This is very cool, right?
Did you, did you already like light up the screens and
everything? They had the screens lit up.

(09:59):
They were doing their testing, this and that, right.
And at 233 o'clock and nothing'sgoing on.
And that's cool. You know, you take your time.
As long as I leave by 5:45, I'm good.
Yeah. All right, so then I think about
3 something Jimmy shows up. He's like they were probably
filming some other stuff. Now, oddly enough, once I was at
the venue, everyone was super nice.
Dude, let me tell you, compared to like what's that message and

(10:21):
everything dude way nice. Like I was like, dude, these
guys are really nice. I thought sometimes it's.
Just like, yeah, the ones I was like, they don't want to.
It's Hong Kong, right? Dude, they're very straight.
Like, yes, that's it. Yes, there's no like but.
In person they're like, Oh yeah, yeah.
Super nice dude. The guy was like telling me, hey
man, you know I saw you. Interact with him like
backstage. Very nice, super nice, super
nice guy, right? And I was like, he was, he's
been nice. To me, he doesn't know me.
He doesn't know. He's just nice.

(10:42):
Yeah, right. So he was basically telling me
he's like, you know, sorry the artist is busy with filming
something. I'm not wrong.
You know, I'm here to 5:45. It's all cool.
Yeah, we all know he'll be by 5:45.
We got it on a schedule. Cool.
So we're waiting. Jimmy shows up.
He's doing his thing. At the time I met Jimmy's uncle
William, who if you see the photos with him and and Dale
Wong and everything, he's the uncle behind over there, right?
Right. So William, where does he live?

(11:02):
I'm not sure, but I think Hong Kong OK, right, so.
He's like the Hong Kong. He's like, yeah, He's like,
yeah, in a way. Or he's like the uncle that's
I'll take care. I'll.
I'll give you comments. You know, sure, sure, sure.
Yeah. So at that time I met William
and he was very nice and everything we're talking.
And then when we're doing the sound and light checks and
everything, at some point I was like this, this doesn't seem
right. This light, you know, they put

(11:23):
OK, you know, concerts, you havesmoke, right, to get that
lighting effective, right? So they tried all the stuff and
I was watching. I was like, it seems the smoke
doesn't work because like, the smoke's distracting.
It's in the background. It's, you know, the light's
shining on it and it flattens the whole thing.
And I was like, you know what? I don't know if I if I'm the
person who's saying exactly. Yeah, you know what I don't
think is good? Maybe Jimmy, maybe Smoke is

(11:43):
like. Jimmy's paper, right?
Yeah, yeah, you know, and. Now it's like, hey, this smoke
is dumb. Yeah, yeah, You know, And I was
like, you know what? I don't know.
It's just visually is not right. And then I was like, hey, uncle,
like I just feel like. He does he speak Cantonese?
English and Cantonese, but he's speaking English Yeah, he's very
fluent in English, right. And I was like, hey, you know
what the smokes making it seem it's very distracting because
I've seen the smoke, not Jimmy so much right And I've seen.

(12:04):
Oh wait, so you're sitting from the audience.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, I see.
I'm watching as well at the time, right?
Because I want to, I want to seewhat it's going to be like.
And I'm like learning how the production works.
But I also was like, I was really as a nice guy.
Like dude, it's just, it was good without smoke, man.
And I really, really want this show to be epic because I'm
like, dude, I went home and be like, fuck, comedy is great.
Yes, yes. Yes.
And I was like, hey, Uncle I I really feel that smoke is
distracting because I can see the textures and it's flattening

(12:26):
the whole thing. All I can see is just one flat
layer. Yes.
He's like, you're right, You're right.
He's like, hey, Jimmy. And then they were like, oh, OK.
Wow. And I was like.
Oh damn, OK, it's a team effort.Yes, yeah.
All right, you know, nice then. Then I was like.
There was smoke, but I think they put it up.
Much less. Yeah, much.
They had way more in rehearsal, testing everything.

(12:48):
It was there because you need the smoke to see the light
beams. Yes, yes, yes.
So I'm over there. And then I was like, OK, OK.
And the room. And then they were testing the
lights and everything. I was like, I was like, the room
lights are very bright. And I was like, is this going to
be the Showtime light? Because it's quite bright.
And I was like, you're right, it's too bright.
Yeah. He's like, how can we turn the
lights and everything but the house lights?
Yeah, house lights, yeah. Well, then it was.
Brighter because I had thought already it was very bright

(13:08):
during the show. Because they were filming the
show. They went to show the audience.
Yeah, OK. But during rehearsal, even
Bright and I was like, this is this gonna be crazy?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's a bit of that.
And OK, I wasn't gonna be the time.
Listen to you. Yeah, like a couple of things.
But like, if I was genuine, I was like, dude, I really, I'm
not saying this just to say someyes, but I was like, dude, I'm.
You want Hong Kong to look, I want.

(13:30):
This to be like the best fuckingshow, you know right, right.
I mean, look, put aside all the stuff you don't mean, right?
If I'm on it, it's really that quality of.
Course, Yes, yes, yes. So we do all the stuff,
rehearsal every day. I'm watching clocks like 5:00 PM
OK, yeah, OK. I'm still here, I'm fine,
whatever. But Jimmy had to do a lot of
rehearsal and he had to bounce up and all that stuff.
So he was doing that. Already he's got to learn how to
how to jump up and. Oh my God he watched him jump up

(13:51):
like 100 times. No, no, no, no.
A few times only. OK, but still he's like, oh, I
get it now, right? Was whose idea was the whole
jumping? Was it his it?
Must be the concert guy. OK, I'm sure the guy, the
concert guy is called Alex, right?
So yeah, it must. He must have been like, dude,
let's fucking do this. Right, right, the.
Fireworks, that all that stuff. He was like, dude, let's make
this the best. Right, right.
Yeah, and I don't. Make your jump from yeah, I

(14:13):
mean, dude, I, whoever was the marketing and PR and everything
did a fantastic job. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, of course. They went all in.
Yeah, they built the hype well. The hype was so well done.
I'm like, man, you, whatever it is, I hope to see your your
flagship on your portfolio. Yeah, yeah.
And I'm sure it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
So all that stuff happened, right?
It's 5:00. And the coolest thing is this
like during at 4:00 PM, you know, rehearsals happening.

(14:35):
I'm standing over there, Jimmy'sdoing his thing about whatever,
right? And then.
So the whole time Jimmy's just like mostly doing the whole
jumping. Thing he's don't say dude
whatever. I walk around seeing this.
But obviously no mic action, so you're not really hearing what.
No, no, no, but you can kind of hear the talking.
It's so quiet for sure. Right?
So this is, this is where a loopout of me was like, whoa, right.
Two things happened #1 he's doing his stuff.
And then I was just walking around, be like, let's see what

(14:57):
it looks like from this. I was trying different seats,
the front rows. This is a side seat.
I get it, right? And then I do that.
Now, Jacqueline, the other main person who I've been dealing
with also, dude, it's crazy how nice these people are, right?
Jacqueline is Jimmy's team. No, no, no.
She's a Hong Kong team, right? Super nice and everything.
Then she throws me my lanyard with the pass thing right?

(15:18):
Sure. I look at it AAA.
Wow. AAA dude.
Full access, Full access, Yeah, yeah, yeah, right.
So it's me and Gloria. Yeah.
AAA passes. I'm like, whoa, AAA.
It's amazing. I thought, it'll just be me,
right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Fair enough. In case, because, you know,
being an assistant, whatever, Incase you should go backstage.
Yeah. And I was like, oh, cool, cool.
Cool. Right.
Yeah. And then Jimmy's doing his thing
and he's. He's talking to the guy.

(15:38):
He sees me. He stomps.
He's like, oh, Vivek, hey. He walks over to me, shakes my
hand. Wow.
He's like, love your stuff, man. Thanks so much for helping man.
I'm like, no, my pleasure, dude, you know?
You do Cool so. Very nice.
Very like, like, yeah, saw your stuff.
Like, yeah, yeah. Yeah, he must have seen the
videos in it too. Approve it, right?
Yes. So very nice guy.
Then went back to his thing. I'm like, no worries.
You do your thing, you know, I just want to help out.
So that's when I was on his uncle.
I was giving comments. All right, so 5:00 PM comes, and

(16:00):
I'm just like, OK, I guess we'lljust wait.
It's cool. Yes.
We'll do the rehearsal tomorrow if we have to.
Man, I respect this. It's all by Here now 5. 45.
Yeah, yeah, Yeah, exactly. All right.
So it's 5:00 PM on my right, 5/10, 5:50 and 5:20.
And I'm like, OK, all right, it's fine.
Yeah. I mean, what is that to
rehearse, to be honest. I walk out, take the mic.
That's it, right? Right, right.
Yeah. For you it's like actually not

(16:20):
much. Nothing to rehearse, but it's
just. And obviously they're not going
to, like, fuck up the sound after.
Yeah, yeah. They know what to do, right?
I'm like, I'm like, buddy, it's just play, walk on, fade out.
That's it, right? All right, So finally around
like 535, Jimmy went back to rest or whatever and, and they
were like, hey, we can do a quick rehearsal.
I'm like, no problem. Yes.
You know, I just want to make sure the queues.
I know what to do. Sure.

(16:41):
So the first rehearsal, they told me they're like, you're
opening. You're the first act.
The farmer's after you. Sure.
And we decided instead of. Because it was going to be me.
Go out there, thank you very much.
And I leave. Yeah.
Then they get another voice over.
Then fire comes out like, no, no, no.
Jimmy wants to be faster. So you're going to introduce
Farmer. OK.
All right. Sweet.
No problem, you know. And Farmer was there.
They were there as well. Yeah, because they were going to

(17:02):
rehearse after me. Sure.
Fair enough, man. So I go, they play the and I
walk out and I imitate the wholepoint at the crowd, you know,
make some noise because I wantedthem to see.
I'm like, I'm, I'm planning on doing that.
Of course I don't want to just walk up like the fuck, you know?
Yeah. And I was doing the whole thing
to an empty room, which is bizarre.
Every time I have to do that like I can't.
Hear you? Yeah, No.
One's in the audience are. You actually talking as well.

(17:23):
No, no, I'm doing the whole justlike, you know, the whole Hogan
thing where I'm like, what? What?
I can't hear you with my with myears.
Yes. All right.
I do all that stuff. I go out there.
Oh, hello. Everybody there speaks English.
How's you can be. I'll do.
I'm doing that. I skip to my last bit, which is
again a little Chinese tag that I do and my thank you very much.
All right, our next your next opening act is a local act that

(17:44):
you definitely should know. Please welcome Long.
They come out. I go back down and Alex comes up
to me like, hey, you're going todo English, right?
I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Doing just the beginning and the
end has canceled everything in the middle.
Which is the parts that you did at the rehearsal?
Yeah. Right.
And then I was standing there with them and I was like, do I,
do you want me to run by run this by you and everything?

(18:04):
William, Uncle William was over there and I saw him doing him.
I was like, hey, he's like, OK, you know, I'm like, don't worry,
man. It's going to be mostly English.
Yes. And then I was like, I tell you
what, let me give a quick summary so you have an idea.
So I tell them about the bed that are there.
And then Williams laughing as well.
They're having the time. They're like they're like, OK,
all right. We're like this good.
Approve. I'm like, yeah, good.
Because I was my main thing. I was like, I just want to make

(18:25):
sure they kind of have an idea. Of course you don't want
surprises. I don't want surprise for that
surprise. And I want them to know what to
expect. And I'm like, look, I like, I
don't know how to tell people. It's like, for me, something
like this, I want this to be fucking ridiculously good.
When people are like, dude, I'm ready for a show.
Of course, Right. Yeah.
And they were happy with it. Great.
Yeah. So then I went back, did my gig
at night. All that stuff went well.

(18:46):
And so this is The funny thing. When I go to the gig, I'm at
Renaissance Hotel in one job, all right?
And this gig's a Chinese gig, and I'm working with one of the
other Chinese comedians. She's an old lady, or I think
her 80s, called Lily. Right.
Lily too in the 80s. In the 80s.
Comedian. In Chinese, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's very cool. She's been featured in some
interviews and everything. People know of her, right?
Yeah. And in my head, I'm just like,

(19:06):
dude, this audience has no idea that just now I was in the Hong
Kong Coliseum. Yes, yes, they have no idea.
In 24 hours, I'm going to be on that stage.
Yes, they have no clue and a lotof the audience people will
probably be at the gate maybe maybe when I'm over the weekend.
You know, and I'm just like, do you have no clue?
Yeah. That's so insane.
Yeah, right. So I do.
Think so? Funny because I saw you that
night. You came to give me the tickets.

(19:29):
Oh, I met you, right? Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, yeah. That night because I was the
same guy. Yeah.
So I do like it, yes. Exactly the the giddy part I
there are messages between you and I when I'm like, dude, I've
known you for so years. You're always just like, you
know, a grumpy. Yeah, I'm like, that's a sport.
Do with the man you know. Yeah, yeah.
And this is the first time I seeyou like, actually like

(19:49):
bouncing. Dude, I was like, I was ready
because I was. So cute it's.
Cute, right? It's OK.
Like, Oh my God, tomorrow's big day, right?
Yeah. So this is bizarre thing, right?
I do the gig, everything is good.
You know, Lily, actually, she's old.
And So what happened was she wasin her dressing room, she got it
was a bit cold, so she did her. So basically I go up there, do 3
minutes, whatever. I introduced her.
She does like 2-3 minutes. Then we do this interactive

(20:09):
thing, we finish, she goes and sits on the side.
It's the end of the whole performance.
Yeah. And she's like shivering, right?
And I was like, is she OK? Maybe the adrenaline rush,
whatever. No, turns out she was really
cold. She's 80.
She has no adrenaline. Yeah.
Yeah, exactly. Right, so this is The funny
thing. Like we did the thing.
She's shaking and everything. I'm trying to warm them up.
We give her some warm water, everything to the point the
organiser was like, hey, is there any way you could take her

(20:31):
back, you know, help Just we, wedon't feel safe.
I'm like, I couldn't, I couldn'tleave her like this.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got to the Uber taxi, went all
the way to like Champ 100. My God.
Walking with her, go there, dropped her off in her house,
came back. I did nothing.
I'm like, put her in bed, right? You know, And I'm in my head and
in my head, I'm like, dude, I was just in three hours ago at
the Coliseum. They'd be like, all right, come

(20:52):
on. Yeah.
I'm like, I'm Osima. OK, go, go home.
OK. Hold on.
Stay warm, All right? Does she?
Live by yourself. I think so, yeah.
Yeah, right. Because I was like, dude, I have
to make sure you're OK. I cannot, I will not sleep well
with this. Yes, Yes.
And then I get a get an Uber, taxi back and everything go home
and I'm like, all right, OK, That just happened.
Then I contacted you said, hey, where are you?
I have your ticket. You're like, I'm in Ebenezer.
I'm like, I'll come down and getyou.

(21:12):
All right. So I go down there and I'm just
like, I'm like, dude, this is a fucking what is going on, man?
Just a few hours ago. I'm in the call, then I'm
dropping off an old lady here I am meeting you at Ebenezer like
no big deal. 2 Saudi guys, right?
Yeah. What the hell is going on?
Right. I go down.
There, the games haven't even started yet.
Haven't started right and that is like this is so insane.

(21:34):
So I go there, I meet you, give you the tickets, talk to your
friends and everything. And this other couple sees me.
He's like, oh. I saw this.
And then he's like, oh, yeah. And of course you're going to go
Jimmy Show. And that was the first time, as
you saw, I was like, actually I can't say this, but I was like,
dude, at this point, yeah, I'm just gonna open frame.
But he's like, I can't get together.
Like I in my head, like, I'm sorry, dude.

(21:55):
What you want to do? Right.
Yes. And then, yeah, I remember going
back home. And yeah.
So again, this is one of those things where I was at home.
I'm like, alright, man, this is Gloria.
I was like, if you don't go, I should tell you the same thing,
right? So the few days leading up to
it, I'm trying to think of my setlist, Sure.
And maybe this bit, maybe that bit, this bit.
Do you want me to use the bit? Because once you do it, you
can't get it back or whatever, right?
Yes, yes, I remember. This is again, this is all that

(22:16):
fucking motivation tapes and everything, right?
Yes, I'm thinking of a stuff andI go up to Gloria.
I'm like, Gloria, go big or go home.
This is it. This is fucking it, you know,
And I'm like going my whole site, it's go big.
This is why I'm doing this. I want people to be like, what
the fuck? You know, that's up.
I wrote it down on a paper. It's on my.
It's literally on the little note wrote.

(22:38):
I have a big or go. Home.
Oh yeah, yeah, it's amazing. I have this notepad, this
waterproof notepad in the bathroom when I shower and get
good ideas, right, It's written down.
Go big or go home. All that shit.
I'm. I'm going to what?
You're writing with. Pencil, pencil, pencil.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was say man, I was like, I'm
going to. I do not want to be like maybe.
I know, I don't know. Yet I could know.

(22:58):
Yes. Yeah.
We're doing this. Let's fucking do this, right?
OK, so Friday happens right now,to be very honest with you,
everybody, I was extremely nervous and anxious.
Yeah, the whole day. I told my mom we were having
lunch and everything, and I was,you know, the last time I was
this anxious was back in 2007 when I did the comedy
competition. Wow.
Yeah, the whole day competitionswere brutal for, for just like,

(23:19):
like anxiety and stuff. It was just so stressful.
And this is every time. Yeah, I've done it a few times.
And you're like. It was always so fucking
stressful. Like, yeah, you know what I
mean? So you know what I mean?
Yeah. And The thing is I remember this
feeling because I was like back then, there's no experience.
And I'm like Oh my God. Like just just yeah, it's not
it's not self doubted, sad worryof like, oh man, this is it.

(23:40):
This is it. This is what it's you know,
yeah, I go there. I think the show was, I believe
7 something. I got the.
It was at 8:15. Some of the yeah, I got that
five they wanted to run through.Whatever.
I'm like, I'm there, no problem.I can be there early just for
safety. Let's get it done.
So you have your own green. Room.
Yeah, I have my own green room and everything.
I go there, I'm settled, I'm comfy, and then we go out there,
do one more run. I won't go quickly film the room

(24:02):
before things fill up. I'm like, let's film it while I
can. Right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then that night things are
happening and then it's raining outside and everything.
And so. OK, OK, I forgot to say this
right. So in rehearsals, they were
doing like an A voice of God intro for Jimmy.
And they had like, I think some Hong Kong local guy, like, Are
you ready? Yeah, please welcome Jimmy.
You know, that kind of. Yeah, that's all right.
And I told Jacqueline like, hey,if you want a voice over, I'm

(24:24):
more than happy. I love doing this stuff.
Yeah, you're, you're a professional voice over guy, I
mean. That's what I do, right?
Yes. Say OK, we'll think about it.
I'm like no, no, the offers on the table take the it's totally
cool. Yes, right.
That night. OK, so yeah, yeah, yeah.
OK, OK, so. That night, actually, funny
enough, you had done the announcements with.
The rain. So OK, let's go back.
We're gonna get delayed. Yes, yes.

(24:44):
So I leave the Colosseum on Thursday after rehearsals I came
to my gig and Renaissance. I take the MCR.
Of course. This is like so anti Rockstar
yeah took the. MTR take the MTR and no one has
any idea. No one has any idea.
Like 35,000 Hong Kong people. Was gonna watch me soon, right?
Yeah, whatever. Anyway, so I go to the gig and I
remember leaving Exhibition Center Station and I get a

(25:05):
message from Jacqueline and she's like, hey, actually, could
you just record that intro with your phone in a quiet place
without echo and everything? That's actually I got to listen
to that at Ebenezer. Yeah, yeah.
So you want to know the crazy thing?
I, I and she's like, can you do before 7?
I get there at 6:00. I do the rehearsals, whatever
before people come in, right? Sure.
So we do the rehearsals, lighting, everything.
I all good. I go to the dressing room.
The dressing room has carpeted floors, right?

(25:27):
However, I'm like, I need the acoustics to be good carpet.
Fantastic, right. No bounce back.
But I need like some wood or something that it doesn't it,
it, you know, it's warm enough. Of course.
Yeah. I'm literally crouching down in
a corner facing the floor like Are you ready?
Make some noise and I'm doing the I don't give a shit.
I'm sending this in right. I got it sent it to them that I

(25:48):
use it whatever, but however, atthe end Jimmy was like the
timing is not perfect. I was like, dude, I'm I'm
recording this blind. I don't know what the video
whatever is right, So he said no, he'll do it himself like
sweet, no problem. That's.
You're bringing himself. Up he'll yeah, I'm like fair you
do you whatever you like it's. Your show.
Yeah. However, first night shows about
to begin. It's running late because the
rain's really strong. Yes, people are.
Ready. So I was in the audience.
You. Were in the audience right Yeah

(26:08):
OK so rains have happening on stuff that like hey could you
make the announcement that due to the weather live due to the
weather right yeah all right so I always go like ladies and
gentlemen due to the weather ourour the show will be put
slightly delayed you know if youneed to use the toilet please do
so now so sure enough we can enjoy the show do the candidate
like did. You write that like.

(26:28):
Did you just come up with? That I wrote it down real quick
because I do not want to ad hoc like yeah, I want to write down
and also with Chinese I'm like, so I ask where is this the word
and why? She say, OK, cool, I do that all
good right And then the show show stars.
They have AI believe in AI or some prerecorded thing.
Please welcome Honko's very own that AII believe.
So they got it the night before. So I don't think they got some

(26:49):
guy to record that. Right, right.
OK. Which is fine.
Yeah, I go up there. Now.
This is where it gets crazy, right?
Yes. People are cheering because the
lights go out. They're like, oh, it's Showtime,
right? Immediately, please welcome
Honk, because I wrote it for that.
My please put like, you know, please welcome Honk.
Kong's very own Yes, I always like to say.
Honk so when they ask you what intro you want.
I wrote it down and I told him Iwas like, Honk very own.
I like to say that it's our own, right?

(27:11):
Yes. And then I go out and now people
don't know me as Vivek Owl Bunny.
They know me as Avi. Right, generally the Hong Kong,
especially the local. The local right, so if they're
like Mel Bunny and they're like you could you could sense the
clapping. OK, Showtime right and I
probably some foreign act whatever you brought them with
whatever right yes, I go out there.
I don't know if you notice it like the the cheering was like.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. People like, oh shit, that guy,

(27:34):
yeah. Yes, Oh my God, that roar.
I was like, whoa and so. What did?
Yeah, what did it sound like foryou?
Dude, it was in because. Obviously there's no rehearsal
for it. I've never done that roar in my
life. I've done 10,000 of ZS, of
course, but no, so I've done 3000 ZS.
I've never done like 10,000. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And that roar was like raw. Now, the thing in me, first of
all, let me clarify everybody. That was Pantera, 5 minutes

(27:56):
alone, my favorite intro becauseit's just like, I'm not walking.
I'm like, yeah. And I'm doing my whole.
I used to with the whole like, raise your hand like come.
On yeah, yeah, yeah, right. Which is actually smart because
you're walking out. This stage is huge.
Huge. I got to do something.
You're walking for like 20 seconds.
Yeah, exactly right. So long.
Yeah, I'm doing the whole thing.I can't hear you.

(28:17):
I'm pointing at this side more that over there, all the stuff.
So I'm acknowledging the crowd. I'm like.
Are you seeing? Yeah, your it seems pretty lit
up you're seeing, but you. Can kind of see everyone.
Yeah, you can. Kind of.
See upstairs too. Yeah, everybody.
Yeah. And I and I had I'd been on the
stage to visually kind of get inmy head in case I can't see
nothing. So I know what to expect.
Yeah, but I'm up there like. Yeah.
I mean, we talked about this before, but I would much rather

(28:39):
see nobody and have very, very blinding lights.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Than seeing everybody.
It was, it was different. It was different for sure.
Seeing everyone, I'm seeing thatnumber of people, yeah, dude,
that's insane. But to, to see they're like, oh,
this is, oh, it's soaking it in,right.
Yeah, yeah, of course. I go out there, I'm like, and I,
I remember, I'm like, yeah, what's up?
You feeling good? You know I'm doing that, right?
And I was like, if I before I continue that, I'll do my set.

(29:01):
I get the laugh and all that stuff and I'm upstairs doing my
thing. And then this is the bizarre
thing. They had a little clock, a timer
on stage, on stage, right? And I'm doing my set and I timed
this and I was like, this is a good 7 1/2 minutes, yes, with
the last 8 minutes, boom, done. I'm not over it.
I was 8 to 10. That's what I was, yeah.
Anytime anything between 8:00 to10:00 is happy days.

(29:22):
Yeah, exactly. And I timed it.
I'm like, I'm not going over. I want to respect it.
I want to show them that I will get this done right.
Yes, and I'm doing my my last bit about the MTR with the phone
call thing let. Me actually try to guess you
went short. No, their timer was wrong.
Really. I.
Actually felt this is the only show I've seen.
I felt like you went short. No, no, no.
I really, I timed on my on my watch because I was timing and

(29:43):
everything I recorded because. I was like, you're doing so well
that actually what, do you just zoom more?
Yeah. And it zoomed by.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But I actually thought like you
did like 7 1/2 minutes or. Something it was basically the
with the lapse was 8 minutes. I haven't recorded everything
but my I was watching. I was like why are we at only 5
minutes? Oh, shit, that's, that's scary,
man. I was like, fuck, yeah, yeah,
yeah. This can be right, And they're
like. So their timer showing is it

(30:05):
count up or countdown like? Count up count up going towards
8 minutes Yes yes and my 5 did it just.
Oh, so it's still running? It's not like running broke.
But I didn't see what time it started.
Exactly. You know, like so maybe someone
fucked up and started it late. Yeah, you know, with the whole
what's up and they probably thought, oh, now we is the thing
like oh dude, I started talking. You should start counting from

(30:27):
the moment I walk on, of course, right, whatever right.
OK, so I do the thing that. So wait, so you're about to wrap
up. You already got your last.
Laugh. I'm in the middle of my last bit
right? And I'm just watching like I
have another minute and 1/2 at least.
This doesn't. Make sense?
I'm like, dude, you know what? No, I had to trust myself.
Yes, yes. Yes, there's no way I went this
and I was talking even slower than I normally do.
Yes, you were. You were right.

(30:47):
Yeah, yeah, I remember all the stuff.
Which is obviously smart given how big yeah, like how much the
sound travels. I knew, I knew.
I was telling myself like, no, slow it down.
I was like, there's no way I timed it at home.
There's no way. I'm not fine.
Yeah, maybe. Did you have a thought of like,
fuck maybe I'm so nervous like Iskipped a bit.
No, because, because I've I've really practiced the one.

(31:09):
Yeah, yeah, dude. So you already know the bits
that came out of your. Face I didn't mess things up, I
didn't reverse anything it was all dude.
This is the first time I have literally written out the whole
set you. Know what I would have done?
What I would have actually paused and asked the audience?
Did I do this one bit? Already, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Let me test you. No, man.

(31:31):
Like like this is how much I want.
I do like, I have not wanted this to kill so hard, of course,
in a long time because I was like, I'm going to write to set
up word for word. I want to know this.
I want to get it right. I'm signing.
No, honestly, yeah, it was so tight.
It was really, really. I took everyone and also the
even the closer that you had hada very organic applause.
Yeah. It wasn't like, oh, I'm closing.

(31:51):
It was like very like it came. Yeah.
And it got like an applause and then you left on that like high.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. You know, I timed it because I
was like with the whole why I'm gonna laugh at the watch this.
Yes, exactly. I knew it right.
OK, so I finished everything I So now our next opening act is a
local artist that you may also know.
Please welcome. Oh, yeah.
They come on, I do the little huggy thing, and I leave.
And I was like, whoa, that just happened.

(32:13):
That was crazy. And I immediately, quickly ran
out to go to the side of the room.
I'm watching everything by the show.
Yeah, But I remember I had to goto the dressing room and drop my
stuff off and everything. It was a bit like, whoa, all
over the place. Right.
So that's the craziest thing because, like, all right, we did
that thing. Long food did it.
I think they did all in Cantonese.
The pacing was definitely slowerthan me.
Yeah, I'm way faster. Way, way more laughs punch.
Here, Yeah, Punch. Here and then they did it then

(32:35):
they they left and then they played the video for Jimmy and
he's yeah no show which first ofall, it was as expected show
thought. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
People went nuts. Nuts.
Absolutely nuts. OK, so that the.
Show so Jimmy obviously, which is funny because I didn't even
no one knew that he's going to do like the popping from stage.
No, he knew, right? But I actually have it even from
the first time because he had this goofy thing when he's like,

(32:58):
oh, I paid so much money for this, I'm going to go back in.
Sure. Yeah, that's a new one.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But then I actually have it from
the first time when he went up because I was just filming.
I thought he was just going to walk out.
So I have this radio and that first pop was crazy, Yeah.
Yeah, that was really whoa, yeah, yeah.
But that's like a Michael Jackson kind of boss.
Yeah. Yeah.
All that stuff. Yeah, really cool.
Yeah, yeah. So that night he did it.
He just all set a lot more Cantonese than the other nights

(33:19):
as well. But they also knew like more
Cantonese speaking audience and also maybe because long.
There was a lot of celebrities in the audience.
That was not most celebrities. Yeah, most celebrities, right?
Obviously, first time. Why not?
So let me see it first. But fair enough right now,
however, I believe he probably did more canteen in the
beginning, maybe celebrities or press, whatever, but because
also farmer long food. The second act did Cantonese
only. So he played because like he was
like I can't do straight all English have to transition

(33:42):
slowly. So he did a set.
Everything's good. It was awesome and he finished
the set and that was an Ideo Wong was there, right, yes,
which obviously is the first night.
Why wouldn't you have him? Of course, yes, finished
everything he got. He got like a nod, obviously
from Jimmy, but also from Lung Fu guys, Yeah, like, you know,
I'll give him. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah,
because like they they call uponhim yeah yeah, they were like

(34:03):
this place we have to say the sothere's some key phrases like,
you know, we saw which is refundand also try if we would just
take away fast, which is something people shout out when
Dale wanted the show but right so obviously they're like what's
the things we have to say yeah and obviously the camera will
cut to Dale and they're like yab, yab we know right, yes,
which again, great for them right yeah, all yeah when I was
on stage I knew Dale was there, but I told myself I'm like I.

(34:24):
Don't try to find them. No, forgetting finding him.
I do want to look at him. I was like, I I have one
mission. I'm an opening act.
Yeah. This is not about me.
It's. Not about you.
Yeah, this. Is about this show and making
the honest go like, yeah, get ready, motherfuckers.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I told myself I this is again,
one of those things I psyched myself in the in the in the
dressing room. I was like, this is not about
you. Yeah, this is about making Hong
Kong love comedy and going out there and showing that yes,

(34:47):
comedy is awesome. Yeah, I went out there.
I was like, I don't care about the celebrities.
I don't care who the fuck you are.
I'm going out there with the slaughtering just to get ready,
right. OK, show finishes.
I'm at the back area because I'mI don't know what's going on.
It's it's a chaos, right? And then lo and behold, I see
once you are Deo Wong, I'm like,Oh my God.
And me and Gloria over there. And then the doors open.
You did you have any interactions?

(35:08):
With not yet, not yet not. Yet so he like he probably knows
you whatever, but. He must have heard of me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But direct interaction?
No, I've never had that. How I?
Was there for that first moment.Yeah, so I'm over there.
I see Dale Wong and I see him. I'm like, hey, oh, thanks so
much for coming tonight. Yes.
Then the doors open to all celebrities come out.
Yes. And alright, now I know some of
them, like the Check family. I've done the Newsy party.

(35:31):
Very nice people. Yeah.
Bob Lam, the big guy with the round, that guy with a bald
head. Yes.
He's ATV celebrity. He's on comedy as well.
And oddly enough, in City University in the orientation
camp in my first year, he was my, what they call the group
father. Yeah, that's how we met each
other. Yeah, right.
We were like the craziest guys in the group at the end.
All right, So him and his three daughters, they were talking to

(35:51):
me. I saw you and Graham were like
taking pics with Dale Wong and all that stuff, all that stuff.
I got a picture as well. And then I was talking to Bob.
And this is a crazy thing, right?
His three daughters. I have been to their school to
give a talk. I was like, what?
They're like, yeah, you're crazy.
And then like, it was so crazy. They're like, they're talking to
me. They're like, can we take a
picture with you? I'm like, of course, no problem,

(36:12):
right? And it was just bizarre seeing
celebrities. Daughter like their.
Children, their kids saying thatyou guys are too.
But I'll be honest with you. Like this one.
I have to admit, with my ego, the respect I got from all the
celebrities, yeah, like, they know of me.
Yeah, I've been enough TV and everything, guy, right?

(36:33):
Yeah, it's easy to know the Indian guy.
Yeah, I know the guy, right? But dude, like, I got
compliments from Bob, from all these guys, and it wasn't a good
job, right? They were like dude.
Yeah, that was awesome that. Was awesome, right?
Yeah, they were happy and. I mean, yeah, again, the set was
like 10 out of 10. Yeah, Yeah, it was.
It was for sure. I hope you know.
That, he said just like, Oh yeah.

(36:53):
The night. Maybe you bombed the other
nights, but the first? Night, yeah.
Every night was good. Every night was good.
That was amazing. Yeah, yeah, I had, I had the
good right mindset. I had all that stuff ready.
But I told remember time Gloria.I was like, I think the thing
that really sealed it for me wasafter the set, people were
happy. They were, you know, grateful
and everything and they enjoy themselves.
They had a good night, But the respect I felt from them, they

(37:14):
were not being polite. They were like, dude, that was
great. Yes.
Even Dao Wong. So this is what happened, right?
After everything, everybody left.
Yeah. I had taken a picture with Dao.
Gloria helped me take a photo. She didn't get a photo with him.
Yeah. And I was like, didn't you want
a photo? She like, I actually did, but it
was too chaotic. I didn't want to bother him.
I was like, I totally get. And I was like, in my heart.

(37:36):
And Gloria knows this. I was like, I need you to get
that photo, Dale. Yes, he said.
No, it doesn't matter. I'm like, no, no, no, no.
We. I Yeah.
I would not live myself if I have a picture and you don't and
you and I was like, no, I let's.I need him go.
Right. I walked around.
I was like just in case he's there.
I don't know dude, this is how crazy it is.
I was walking through the other the long way.
I was like, in case, you know, whatever.

(37:57):
I see him walking towards the exit.
Wow, I see him there and I'm like.
Just by himself. Walking.
Leaving. He's leaving, right?
I go to, like, this is all autopilot.
My brain just went to. I'm like, hey, in Cantonese.
Like, thank you so much for coming.
This is really, like, surreal for me.
Yeah. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
My girlfriend really likes her stuff.
I know I don't bother you, but it would be alright.

(38:17):
Take a photo. Yeah.
He's like, no problem. Yeah.
Very nice, right? I mean, he saw me on face.
Fair enough. Yeah, you're fine takes a photo
and everything I'm like in my heart.
I'm like, OK, thank you. I needed that.
I would sleep well tonight. Of course, yes and I remember
saying to him I was like, I actually been to the show
before. I really appreciate it.
I I I admit I didn't grow up watching her stuff.
Yes yes, but you have definitelyinfluence Of course enough
right. The guy I was saying no is very
good. It is well done, Yeah, and I

(38:40):
think I raised my hand or he didwhatever and high 5 me.
Wow. Right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was.
Like, thanks man, this really means a lot too much.
Have a good night. Thanks so much.
Right. He left it now and and that was
the. Moment I was like the seal,
yeah, seal the night. For you, Yeah.
SEAL approval. I was like, you know, he he
approved it. He wasn't just being.
You could tell this wasn't this politeness.
Right, right. Yeah.
Like he gave me the the nice job.

(39:01):
Yeah. I was like.
Wow, it's also like one of thosecool moments of like the older
generation like. Yeah, the new generation, you
know what I mean? Yeah, You know, getting there,
you're like, OK, shit, you know, nice.
The the the the superior. Respected.
Exactly. The master and the student all.
Kind of thing, right? Yeah.
And I remember that was the moment I took around like two
things just happened #1 your photos done.
I can sleep well, I the whole time walking like, dude, this is

(39:22):
how crazy it is. Yeah, she was like, no, no, no,
it's not that. I'm like, no, you don't
understand. This mattered to me.
Yeah, that this is like 1. Of the not even about her
anymore. Yeah, yeah.
This the principle of the matter, yes, that this is a rare
Hong Kong celebrity, that. You definitely he's not, he's
not that like public. Like, he's not, he's not public
at all. You don't seem all over the
place. No.
Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
You know, so, All right, so all that stuff happened.

(39:43):
And then you think the MTR whichis.
Hilarious. Did we?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, Yeah, I left you.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
OK, so, so this so we finish ourstuff.
I sat in my dress room. I I calmed down, been on my eye.
This just happened. It's all good.
And it was, I don't know how to just put it this way.
It's like it was just that moment of there was I, I OK,
this is, it's hard for me. Explain this.

(40:04):
You know how you had that momentof like, I fucking deserve this.
Yeah, you know what I mean? And I sat there and I looked in
the mirror. I was like, there's nothing to
do with. I just got lucky and I lucky.
I was like. No, you earned this.
I earned this. Yeah.
I I've put my pain in my dues. There's no like, oh, this guy
just fucking knows people. I'm like.
No, yeah. This was it, No.
And in many weird ways, again, put the ego side of everything.

(40:25):
I was like, if it wasn't me, whowould be appropriate?
Right In the Hong Kong scene. Yeah, You know what I mean?
Like, I'm not trying to say I'm better.
I'm. Just saying no, no, no.
This seems like right. This was the right choice.
Yes, it's the right choice. Yeah, You know, to really
represent the right choice, you know what it means.
I was like, OK, then that momentI was like, you know what?
I I I made the scene proud. Yeah.
All this stuff's all good. Then we left the fucking.
I'm high. I'm like, fucking great.

(40:47):
Fucking see you outside. And I'm like, oh, I guess that's
my fan base. Right, yes, Yeah, you're
expecting the adoring fan. They're like, Oh my God, yeah.
You're gay. I'm like we waited here.
You're fucking smoking. Did you fail?
Like I'm like, oh, OK, I guess. This is it, yeah.
Where the fuck is all the? Groupies.
Yeah, Nobody. Outside, there were people.

(41:08):
Standing outside where they normally hope the celebrity will
leave. Yeah, Nobody acknowledged me.
I'm like, that's cool. Yeah, whatever.
Right? I see you guys were talking
like, no big deal. Just happened.
Like I'm like, yeah, whatever, man.
You go this way regular game. Like, OK, you know, we're gonna
get some snacks, whatever, right?
And I leave. But no, there were a couple of
people who I did take pictures with.
They were nice enough with the MTR.
No, no. On my way over there there was
like a lady or something. Oh yeah, that's right.

(41:29):
Yes, I did see that. Yes, I was like, hey, I'm happy
to go. I know how it feels like, you
know. Right.
Yeah. So I'm just like you.
Yeah. You know.
But no, seriously, when there was those young, like this young
boy was hanging in the picture and I'm like, of course, dude,
what would I say? No, you know?
So, yeah, then we left and I remember taking the MTR and this
is what I mean. I sound Gloria.
I was like, this is so weird, like here I am just now at the

(41:49):
Colosseum. Yes, fucking rocking on.
Stage with your name. Huge.
Huge. Name, dude.
Oh my God. Yeah.
Which again, all props to Jimmy. He is just like bigger than
taller than you. Actually, yes, it was going to
be there. But I remember Jimmy at
rehearsal was like, no, let's put their names up, you know?
I'm like, let's respect, you know?
Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't you?
Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And his name is bigger anyway. I'm like, everybody knows what
it's like. Why would he not want that,

(42:11):
Right. Yes, yes, right.
So. And yeah, I go home.
And I remember I was like, it was a really weird feeling where
I was like, wow, I get to do this four more times this.
Is crazy, you know. But I like at that moment, there
was a certain, there was a, there was a, there's a feeling
of satisfaction of, OK, so Jim Carrey has, if you've seen Jim
Carrey's interviews, right, he would say he used, he wrote

(42:32):
himself like a check of $10 million and kept it in his
wallet. I don't remember that story.
And he's like, the day will come.
Yeah. And I'm not trying to make this
all like, oh, my God, but like, I have in my notebook written
stuff. Like, again, you see my notebook
like, I deserve too funny. Yeah, yeah, Yeah.
And I've written for years. I'm like, greatness awaits me.
And in the recent years, I've changed to greatness this year.

(42:52):
Yeah. And I remember coming home and
I'm like, that was it? Yeah, that was.
Great. That was it.
That was greatness. That was when when I'm I'm not
Jimmy, I'm not expecting all that.
Yes, yes. But I was like for what I was
given and I was like that. Was for.
What were you working with and how much do you how far you have
come? Yeah, Yeah.
You know, Yeah. It's incredible.
Yeah. Yeah.
So that was cool. And I was like, all right, well,
you. Get to sleep and all that, I

(43:14):
thought. That like I think like 3 or
something. Yeah, I can imagine just that.
Oh dude, no way. No way, dude.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I told Graham that I need to be.
I can tell you we're not sleeping till three.
Yes, It was like 11 or 12 or something.
Yeah, I know this feeling. Yes.
This is not another. Yeah, it doesn't. 3 hours.
At least. Yeah, even if you're not looking
at your phone or whatever, you're just like, just like,
yeah, just. Like that, just like, just do

(43:35):
this, you know? Yeah, but that was really cool
and it was just overwhelmingly surreal.
And and I think Leah, the biggest take away was just me
being so happy that comedy of this level, yes, of this style
is is. Also, yeah, can happen in Hong
Kong. Yeah, and it was appreciated.
Yes. People left happy.
Wasn't like, oh, it was a good show.
They were like, dude, we were happy.
I don't know. I was like, dude, I was.

(43:55):
That was the show worth it? Yeah.
And Jimmy, all props to you for making the prices, like decent
prices. Yeah.
Yeah. Appropriate price.
Yeah. Now he could have charged him
account prices. Stupid.
Yeah. Didn't.
The Yeah. And I'm like, dude, respect.
Respect yeah, he could honestly, everything could be 00
everything can be double easily given the demand it's just
market supply and demand yeah, everything can be double

(44:18):
absolutely yeah even when he started adding shows and
realized he could have been likehey, yeah, now it's.
Not the Hong Kong shows. The account shows.
You could be like, yeah, you don't screw it.
Yeah, yeah, it's because it's a new venue.
You can't blame me. Exactly.
Yeah, different thing. No one knows the economics.
Yeah, yeah. I was like fair respect and all
that stuff. And I was like, I was like, you
know, that that's one thing I. Respect.
You get to like outside the formalities.

(44:38):
Did you get to hang out with himat?
All after the last show. We did have the after show
celebration dinner thing. Not at the venue.
No, no, no. At a restaurant.
Yeah. Yeah.
So we went there. I got to meet him a bit.
I actually wrote him a thank youcard.
I was like, I really meant it. I was like, you know, I really
appreciate this stuff. I'm going to write a little
thing. Yeah.
Visa doesn't read it. I don't really care.
Yeah. Yeah.
I did what I used to do. If he read it, great.

(44:58):
If he doesn't read it, great. If he read it and threw it away
again, totally don't care. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's. Just like it's for you as well.
For me, yeah, I want to say likeI sent the message, received it,
whatever. Yeah.
And then so we were there. It was nice.
And then it was cool to see the crew, the main crew.
Not like just all the crew, but like the main ones, yeah.
And so it's like his uncle the the promoter Allen.

(45:19):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, his. Promoter and also like the main
guys like the the the main legalguy this that and it was cool.
Then they left early and there was just a few of us.
And so, so Alex, so obviously this kind of crew, this is about
drinking and stuff. Of course.
Yeah, and like they had champagne, like whatever, right?
Then they got out a 15 year Glenfiddich whiskey.
Oh, wow, because I remember saying something else.
They like, you should be drinking more.

(45:39):
I'm like, you know what? We're all about the.
Whiskey, right And. Then we have I'm like, oh, fuck
right. They get it out.
And the lawyer, the legal guy, he's all about drinking, right?
So he's like, you gotta have a drink with me.
I'm like, I fine. You know, Dude, it was smooth.
My God damn. That was good whiskey.
Yeah, and then to the point now this is the problem.
It's like when they see you enjoy it, they're like you're
fucked. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

(46:01):
So you can. Hear more?
Yeah, right. I'm having a good time.
I'm like, you know what? We're all in good spirits.
Yeah, it's good. This is drinking.
Every time someone cheers you, you got to drink it.
Fair enough. Sure.
Alex comes over. This fucking guy fills my glass
half full. Oh my God.
Sticks it to my mouth and just like, pushes it towards you.
I'm like, no, I'm like, yeah, whatever.
Right, Yeah. And then we do that and then it.
It was fun. However, I did get like tipsy,

(46:24):
yeah. And all that stuff.
I got home and I was like, I could feel the dizziness.
I'm like tipsy. I'm.
I'm not. Yeah, you're not, but you're not
the tipsy like you're. I'm not the drink you.
Don't get, yeah, I don't get tipsy.
I don't get right. And I remember like it was like
5:00 AM before I got into bed and I was still a little bit
dizzy, but I was like, I whatever, it is what it is,
right? Wow.
But I was like, wow, I. Wish I've seen that, yeah.
Yeah, yeah. No, I wasn't tipsy cross eye.
Oh no, no, no, I wasn't. Not like, no, I was like very,

(46:47):
very, what's the word like? I knew what I was doing.
Yes, yes, fully like the word spinning a little bit.
Bit of that you know one of those right you know my eye you
know this is the cool feeling you know what for tonight fair
yeah fair, fair no but but in all honesty I have to say it's
been very cool I'm very gratefulthis and every now and then on
the streets I go hey we saw yourshows great stuff and I'm like I
thank you I. Appreciate it.
Yeah. So you're getting a lot of like

(47:09):
like responses. From responses from people,
yeah. Yeah, even I'm getting messages
about you. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, my God, that guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So it's very cool. And I all I can say is that I'm
genuinely grateful this opportunity.
I'm glad that I got a chance to do it.
And also I'm honestly just stillregistering it.
Yeah. But for anyone else, this is one
of those things where I'm like, dude, I feel that.

(47:30):
I hope Hong Kong now has more faith in comedy or homegrown
comedy, whether it's English candies, whatever to go.
Like, dude, you know what? Like, we're feeling inspired
now. But dude, man, Hong Kong's a fun
place, man, you know? So yeah, that's been awesome.
I mean, that is, that is amazing.
And honestly, like you're not going to hear me say this a lot
on especially on the podcast, but no one more deserving.

(47:51):
Thank you, man. No one more hard working than
you and no one should be on thatstage opening for Jimmy.
No offense to on anyone else. You are the most.
Deserved. Yeah.
Thanks man. It could be maybe people who are
less deserved. Maybe you'll be there if you're
retired. Yeah, Yeah, sure.
But as long as you're working ashard as you are now, you should
be up there. Yeah.

(48:12):
Thanks, man. And that, that, yeah, it just
makes sense. It just makes sense.
It feels like, you know, I can think of a few people if they're
up there and be like. They will still kill.
Wait, what? No, no, I would.
Be mean. So yeah, you're like, how would
you get? Why would?
You get this guy. Oh yeah.
Yeah, yeah, that's for sure. Dude, relax.
I have names on my body. Come on, man.
There's no way. What are we doing?
You may own a comedy club, but no.

(48:33):
Yeah. I mean, no.
Oh Lord no. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
But absolutely amazing. Very proud of you.
