(00:01):
So I reiterate here, the bill isdead.
The story of this great city is about the years before this
night. Hey everyone, this is Ho Ho Hong

(00:22):
Kong with me, Vivek, Mabu, Bani and the other dude that you all
should be familiar with by now. Who is?
Who is Muhammad? Yeah, that's right.
Now, for those of you who had seen him like me a couple of
weeks ago, you were like, the fuck is wrong with your face?
He's like revealing too much of his.
Face so that that happened like actually I think since the last
recording we had we had a typhoon like AT10 by the way we.

(00:45):
Yeah, we got talking about that. No, we first T. 10 in a.
While we had the first black rainstorm as well in Hong Kong
for a couple of hours. Yeah, that was what?
Sounds a bit racist because I looked at the sky, it wasn't
black. Yeah, I mean, let's just say, I
mean, black is a shade that we all decide on our own, you know?
Yeah, I, you see black, I see people.
That's up to you dude. What is actually?
So there is black and there's. Amber.

(01:07):
No amber, amber. Red, black.
I don't think it's higher than black.
I thought, oh amber, what's the difference between amber and
purple? Amber and purple is a different
color. Yeah, I know.
But which one? Like I know.
Purple. Is that purple?
No, no, amber is like yellowish.Yellow amber is yellowish.
Yeah, that's what it. Is yeah, so Amber is kind of
like, oh, there's a lot of rain,by the way.
It's like, yeah, buddy, we kind of know that already.

(01:28):
Yeah, Red is like, there's a lotof rain, man.
Like, do you seriously want to go out there?
And that's the time when you cantell your friends like, hey man,
we're not that good of friends. It's raining a lot, so my shoes
are not going to get wet for you.
Yeah, I know the actually. So the black rain part, which
was I believe was it was a Friday night and I was doing a
show or whatever and I just likestopped by PL.

(01:48):
St. to say hi to a friend. Wait.
No, no, the black man didn't happen on Friday night.
It happened on like a morning. It was 910 AM.
Was it? Yeah, Yeah.
But it was like a Friday, just last this last Friday, there was
like a crazy rain like. I think that was like the red or
maybe the pre typhoon. 10, Maybeyou're right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was so crazy that
actually and nobody could even move on the street.
It's not the wind, but just like, just, yeah, the heaviness

(02:09):
of like, the showers, yeah. Was crazy and everybody was just
like stuck for. I know I have no idea because
like, I was, yeah. I was in Hong Kong.
I was in Singapore at that time.Yeah.
Oh, nice read to me about like potential hail or something.
Yes, yes, yes. That's what it was.
I remember people like reading. I'm like, wow, that must be
intense. Yeah.
Yeah. So that's what it was.
So while you were doing that, I was probably having like a roti
yet like. That looked fun by the way.

(02:32):
Yeah, it was, dude. If you're not following Quebec,
you should follow him at the funny Vivec, just simply because
on your travels you like, you have rituals, Yeah.
And you are a very yeah. Ritualistic person.
Yeah, very much so. Yeah.
And by ritual, I don't mean, like, superstition, whatever.
It's just like, if I go to KualaLumpur, I'm eating all the
fucking high cholesterol, all the buttery, all the sugar, all
the worst things possible because I'm like, I'm gonna get

(02:53):
it there. Right?
Yeah. So this is the one that people
have now realized about me. Like, hey, man, I noticed that
you never post stories on your social medias.
I'm like, yeah, He's like, well, suddenly when you do, you post
like crazy. I'm like, there's only two
reasons I post stories. One is I'm out of Hong Kong.
Yes, right. It's only when I'm out of Hong
Kong because when I'm in Hong Kong, I have no time for that
kind of stuff, nor is my life that interesting.
But hey, guys, check out the City of Library Man.

(03:14):
Let's check out somebody. But no, I'm not doing that
right. The other option is obviously
when I have shows to promote, obviously I'll tell people
that's fine, but the travelling is 1 on the eye.
This one, I don't mind telling people, you know, it's a rare
thing. Yeah.
So that's usually what happens. Or if I get like some sort of
cool gift or some sort of weird product that they'll like, hey,
try this out. Yes, so so I I got gifted A
shaving cream. I'm guessing they just randomly

(03:38):
sent it out to random gentlemen that they.
OK, OK. Who is who is they and how did
it? How did they even run?
They contact me on on Instagram, right?
It's. Literally a random company or
whatever. Some some some lady, sure.
Like she messaged me. She's like, hey, this.
Is why you should watch the video by the way, because you
are we are we are holding Vivek is holding the box right now and
the video if you don't know people new listeners, old

(03:58):
listener on YouTube yeah, so youcan watch as well.
Exactly. So right now I got I got the
gift. Now the truth is in my hand
right now you have this white box right with just like blue
text on it. So when I actually, when I
walked in here, you know, we helped like set up or whatever.
Yeah, so and I walked in and this box was like sitting on a
chair and I moved it and actually moved it.
Not didn't look at it, but because how plain it looks.

(04:19):
Yeah. And how medicinal the whole
thing is. I actually thought it was one of
your cancer medicine. It could be my life didn't
relapse the stuff. Yeah, I'm like, hey, man.
Yeah, apparently. You have a bunch of like.
You also have the injection stuff I'm.
Like, it's just one of these. Yeah.
And it does look like one of those.
Yes, exactly. I'm like, should this be in the
fridge? I know, right?
Should we hold this in the heat of summer?
Yeah, So what? So what is it exactly?

(04:40):
Shaving cream. Now, I got it in a nice little
pouch. Obviously, they didn't give it
to me like a boss like this, butopen to the pouch because
finally I had a time to look at it.
Oh, yeah. Oh, shaving cream.
Cool. And, you know, I was like, oh,
it's one of these fancy. It's it's Melon and Gullitz.
You know, I guess that's how youspell it, Right?
It's from New York. Exactly.
Oh, that's the brand I guess. Melon and gullits.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Barely two people.
Or they couldn't fund enough money on their own.

(05:01):
So they were like, hey man, could we work together?
Well, that's the origin story ofJohnson and Johnson, right?
It's like, yeah, you guys. Johnson.
Johnson A company? Yes, Johnson.
The funniest thing is like everycomedian that has a joke about
like, you know, in the office meeting.
Jay Johnson, what should we do? Johnson, you know, and like
oddly enough, the company is like that.
We're running joke. Yeah, we are the right.
We are Johnson and Johnson, we are actually every punchline.

(05:23):
Yes. Yeah, we invented that.
Yeah, exactly. That's.
So Madeline and Go to were not as creative.
No, they were not as creative. They got a little white box.
I must say though, like what gotsuspicious that at the back with
the instructions, it has English.
Yeah, it has French, French, it has Hindi, It has, I believe
this. Is Arabic actually Aloka Bill?
Yeah. Bullbong.

(05:43):
Bullbong is. Yeah.
I'm saying it wrong. Whatever.
Like the chamomile? Yeah.
It's like the official translation.
I've never seen that word before.
Yeah. So I mean, The funny thing is
like, look, if you look at all this, I've got so many different
translations of basically what it is.
However, it does show you the level of priority to give you
like you know, in English, it's like our shave creams formula
with amino acids, glycerin to create and in Chinese, just like

(06:04):
2 sentences, yes, that's it. That's all it is, and you can
tell you. Most efficient?
Yeah, they clearly started running out of gas.
So like, that's it, That's it. Yeah, yeah.
So they have like two or three lines in English and then as
the. Translation.
Translation. Go.
They're like just saving credit.Yeah, yeah, they clearly ran out
of budget. So here's a question that I feel

(06:27):
like you should have asked me. Run past me.
Did they pay you to post it? They say this on the podcast.
Not did not pay me. I got to be fair.
No, if they did, I would be veryclear about that.
It was just a free gift. However, I was looking at the
box and I finally, for the firsttime this morning, I used it.
Now I'm normally just like, whatever, just a gel shave I
want to get in my life, right? I'm not gonna sit, but I need
to. So you do the same like kind of
like. Beer for years.

(06:47):
Yeah, exactly same deal, right? And so I think I understand why
they've run out of budget eventually with the translation
everything because they probablyput it all in the R&D department
because I have to say. So that means it was really
good. It was.
Pretty good. Now I have to say why is good
because they had like the they had the chamomile blah blah,
blah, whatever, yes. But I think the menthol thing
that they did now, you know, a lot of shame creams have that
little mint tea. Keep it cool, right?

(07:08):
Yeah, this was like literally cold to the point I'm showering.
I'm like God damn, dude, my faceis still cold.
Oh, yeah, I was like, that's fine, yeah.
For in this weather, that's. Perfect.
Yes. So I'm just saying I was going
to say like what you should do, right?
Literally everybody, because youshould get this.
And if you're hairy like me, yeah, this is for the full body.
Wow, you don't shave your body. That's.
No one said shaving cream must. Oh yeah, true, they do say shave

(07:30):
cream. Oh shit, I was going to say
shaving cream. Yeah, I know.
But this got shave cream. They should tell me like, shave,
shave the cream. Yes.
Shave. Yes, the shave.
It's very expensive. Exactly.
Yeah. Shaving.
Yeah, exactly. They literally tell you like,
dude, this cream is not just body cream.
It's not moisturizing. It's shave cream, not shaving.
Shave as in like, do it. Yes, exactly.
Not doing but do it. So OK, so this is is available

(07:51):
in the market Again, this soundslike a plug.
I genuinely didn't know about this before.
Yeah, honestly, I don't know where you can get this from, but
I'm sure if you find us somewhere, you know, something
like that, I'm sure. And you guys, the company after,
after we do this, they're welcome to actually sponsor us.
Yeah, you know, we're two hairy guys.
We could definitely. Appreciate.
Actually, yes. Yeah, it would work very well.
So the lady who messaged you waslike she represented?

(08:14):
Is she an agent? Like who?
Who is she? I honestly, I have no idea.
You know, while we're over here, let me just quickly see online
because I think she probably is just the person who works there
or she's the PR firm person, right?
Yeah. Because it seems like it's just
any random person. Yeah, just a random person.
So. Oh, this is a random person who
probably. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, OK. Hey, by the way, you know, we
thought it would be good for youif.
You. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

(08:35):
OK. So she, oh, she saw me at the
Jimmy O Yang show, that's why. Oh, there you go.
As you didn't even remember the business opportunities you get
when you are you grow up on thisbig stage.
Did you get anything else like this?
Like, hey, come on, this stuff, come sing for my my son's
birthday. I got exposure.
Yeah, no, I know, but. No, not, not too much.
Not too much. Yeah, I think this will.
Oh yeah. Cuz like in my in my gymnang

(08:55):
opening, I had this bit about how I was on the M tract taking
the M train and I was like, I'm going to go buy shaving cream.
Yeah. Oh, wait.
So do you think maybe now that we have the full picture, do you
think she doesn't even work there and she thinks it's funny
she sends you? I don't think so, because she
said she's helping a New York brand, helping a New York brand,
and they just launched a new shave cream.
So that's what they I want to gift it to me and try it and you

(09:17):
know, I see what I see. That's probably what it maybe
it's just one of the things which one test the market.
Yes, yes, yeah. So I have to say that like to
all fairness, I've really not really investigated or tried a
lot of different shame creams. Yes.
So I'm comparing like just basicGillette.
Yes. So therefore, if this is like,
let's put it this way, like I'vealways had, let's say basic
supermarket cookies and I had bake house, I'm like, dude, this

(09:40):
is the best thing ever in my world, which again, I'm finding.
Just in comparison. Yeah, just comparison.
So this may not be the best thing, but right now what I've
had in my face before where I was like, hey, this is pretty
good. That's why I was like, I'll give
it a little plug. I'm sorry if it sucked.
I'm like, thank you for this, but thank.
You block. Yeah, and I have to tell you
that, say this little tube, it'sfancy enough that you know how

(10:03):
you only when you have toothpaste, right?
You undo the the cap and you. Yes, yes, I'll pay you this one.
You undo it a bit and there's a little hole that spouts out the
cream. Yeah, I didn't know I'm used to
the hole. Yes, I'm like.
Oh, did I break something? Yes, yes, I know.
It's one of those, right. And I was like, man, I clearly
I, I'm so used to using the mainstream shitty brain dead.
These guys won't know how to useanything or fancy, so let's just

(10:25):
have a button for them. Yeah.
And then you can fancy for the spot.
Yeah, you know, you can fancy. I'm like.
Well, on the same, on the same thought I had like you're just
saying toothbrush and toothpaste.
I just remembered. So I had a really weird.
It's it's like one of these things are like, oh, is this is
this really where Hong Kong is at or has, oh, actually you can
answer that question at the end or has oh, has Hong Kong always

(10:47):
been like this? Here's what happened quickly.
I had the electric toothbrush. Yeah.
And the brown one that kind of like everyone has like the basic
one. Is it brown or brown?
I don't know. I don't know.
I read it as Brown. Brown as.
Well, write in, tell us, maybe I'm a peasant and I'm saying it
wrong. Maybe it's brown, brown, brown,
brown, brown. So I had the brown slash Oral-B,

(11:08):
like the whatever. And it's like that basic model.
I've had it like. Three years toothbrush.
Yeah, the extra toothbrush I have like basically, yeah, 2-3
years, I don't know. And it crapped out like I just
like dyed the button. But were you like brushing?
No, it's like, you know, from how many times you press it has
one button. Oh yeah, it's just the button
went all the way. Deep.

(11:29):
Oh, it broke the whole button. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I thought it would be so cool, like, let's do brushing your
teeth and like this one particular tooth that says, you
know, always been a bit stubborn.
Yeah. And then you're like, thinking
like, shit, I brush my left sidebut not my right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. And then do you like, manually
use the brush or not? Yeah.
Mitch Hedberg has this bit abouthow the the there is a sign by

(11:51):
the electric like by the escalators.
Oh yeah, this is out of order. Yeah, it's not out of order.
Because everyone of his best lines is like, sorry, we are now
staying. Exactly.
Sorry for the convenience, Yeah.Exactly.
Oh, boohoo. Yeah, yeah.
So is it not electric? It's manual.
Exactly. It just becomes a manual
toothbrush, which is kind of what happened.
Like because yeah, like I was about to brush my teeth.

(12:13):
It's the only toothbrush I had. So now it doesn't turn on.
So I just became a manual. One, but the problem is did you
honor the tooth like with these electric toothbrushes?
They don't they don't do the zigzag zigzag no, they do the
rotation yes. Did you honor the designer and
rotate it in your mouth? No.
Oh, you just did exact God damn it, dude, the designer's way
like they're like the fuck man, you know how hard it was.

(12:35):
So you convinced Johnson and Johnson?
To you the round it has brown. Yeah, exactly.
And like I was like, dude, make it round and rotate.
They're like, no, I would the wheels on the bus go round.
You're definitely right, becauselike the the brown in the head
doesn't really work if you're like brushing.
It doesn't. Yeah, exactly.
Yeah. But then you lose.
Yeah, yeah, that's weird With your own hand.

(12:56):
Yeah, but I mean, what if you just like, you know, like how
you can use your own hand and dothese like really good, like you
shake your hand really fast. Yeah, you can do the same Sonic
vibration holding the electric. I think your, your your physic,
anyone is physically possible tomimic the same vibrations.
They're so quick. Yeah, on an electric toothbrush,
you can't do it. What if you watched a horror
movie while brushing? Yeah.

(13:18):
What is what? You know what you should do.
I got it. Yeah.
This shaving cream makes you feel very cold.
Put it on your head. This whole episode is secretly
sponsored by Mr. Brown and whatever grits or whatever.
Now it is good. Good.
Yeah. So.
So, yeah. Have you had like, oh, it's so
quick, cold. Yeah, my teeth.
Yes, I brush my teeth right in front of the air conditioner and

(13:39):
like make it extra cold. Yeah, that's Shimbrane, Yes,
right. And on top of the shiver, you
add your own muscle vibration thing.
So that double S it. Yes, you're getting one step
close to the Sonic vibration. And then if you can have like,
you know, if you have one of these like, like higher opera
singer, yeah, like another little and she's shaking your
whole body from the pain of. I have my friend Joyce Wong,

(13:59):
who's a soprano, and we do the stand up opera show with her.
Yeah. Yeah, I can maybe just get her
to come over and be. Yeah.
Hey, can you sing? Like, you know how like the echo
in the bathroom is? Like the bathroom is always
echoey and. The bathroom is extra.
Echoey, I'm like you stand here and just go full whatever they
have words for like the high pitched like.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or tenor and dog.
Or whatever. Yeah, no, that's, that's a

(14:20):
coffee. Whatever.
Anyway, yeah. No, we did a so-called no tenors
allowed. And I didn't know what a tenor
is. Yeah, yeah.
And tenor is basically the, the pitch that is pitch whatever the
level that usually men achieve. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And that's like that's yeah, like the the vocal.
Everyone is like you fucking present.
I thought I thought they were like, much like all Humble Bee,

(14:40):
we hate the $10 note. Not a tenor.
Not a tenor. Tanner is also like when you
call like some checkers like a. Yeah, that's a Tanner.
Yeah, No, that's why you go and say, yeah, it kind of makes
sense. There's no tenors allowed here.
Tanner, TENOR. Yeah, I figured that, yeah.
You just had like 4 different topics.

(15:03):
So what I'm suggesting is you'rein your bathroom then like
breaks, right? You can call your friend, come
over, turn on the icon, put the melon and go.
It's clean by yourself and add your hand vibration and you've
pretty much replaced your toothbrush.
Or yeah. Or you could simply go out and
get another one. Yes.
Well, I think I feel like the first one is way more

(15:24):
entertaining, especially if we add to the mix an actual tenor
like someone who's a 10, becauseI would also be trembling if I
see them. Yes, exactly.
Oh man, that'd be so good. Someone, you know, one day, like
some, there's some nerds out there who like, make like
animated bits of stuff. Yeah.

(15:45):
Someone please make this just some.
Play man, the day will happen, you know?
Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
So anyway, So what I did do is exactly your logical option
which is just buy another one. So because this.
That night or did you just like? No, I ordered it on like I went
online and I just searched for like the new model of that
because it served me for a long time and I'm like, I like the

(16:06):
electric one, blah, blah, blah. So I actually had to order it
online and it took like a day. In fact, I ordered it like that
night and I messaged them. It was one of those
likeyouknow.com. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It wasn't a price, it was something simpler.
And I actually messaged them like right away.
I'm like, can you please deliverit tomorrow?
Because my. 20 in the SF Expressdelivery.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm like, just deliver it
because it's free. Like the delivery is free.

(16:28):
So they're like, oh, the next day I'm like, can you please?
I really need it. And they did, which was really
nice. Yeah.
Anyway, so now I have this electric, the old one is just
thrown away like there's nothingto it.
So, but I had all these toothbrush heads, you know, you
buy them in bulk. Actually I bought them in
Australia because. What the currency dipped you're
like. Yes, and I'm a Chinese tourist

(16:48):
at heart, so I definitely mentioned this on here.
If you know anything about Australia, the best place in the
whole country is Chemist Warehouse.
It's just the best. It's just nothing compares.
Fuck their kangaroo meat or whatever they do there or the
beaches. Just Chemist Warehouses where
that's where it's at. Yeah.
So when I go to Chemist Warehouse, buy all of my stuff,

(17:09):
I'm just a Chinese tourist. I'm just a full rice hat, like
rice farmer hat, the whole thing.
I. Just like waving like R&B at
them and. Take my money.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
So I had like extra toothbrush heads.
Now the new one is not compatible anymore.
They're upgraded them so much that the new toothbrush head is

(17:29):
now and you know, it's one of these things I'm like, yes, this
is a nicer tooth, nicer toothbrush.
But like they had, they just changed the design a little bit
so they can make people buy new.Yeah, of course.
Because like situation like me must have happened before when
you're like haha now you need tobuy new.
Yeah, Yeah, we knew. We put it on bulk sale.
Yes, yes, exactly. So just one of these things like

(17:49):
a fucking, you know, the iPhone, when you like change the thing,
they're like, oh, here's a new charger.
Yeah. And now you're like, oh, I can't
use my old charger anymore. It's like.
Yeah, there we go, man. Bill Burr is whole bit about
like, you know, yes, about beingbig, big Gandhi is like, Oh
yeah, new phone can't fit the old charger.
Yes, yes, your guy. Yeah, exactly.
So that's your SO. Yes, that's exactly what
happened. Fuck you, Mr. Brown.

(18:09):
Brown. So I have 10 of them.
Like I have many because of Chief.
Yeah. Now they're just useless.
I bet you like the the everyone's listening to like the
jokes on you. Because if if you're trying to
save money back, then you've actually ended up wasting more.
Money definitely wasted more money.
And here's something I'll admit for the first time because I
told this story a couple of times to friends and I started
doing it on stage. Here's something I did not

(18:30):
mention, which I first put them up on carousel.
Yeah, he tried to sell. Them second hand second.
Hand, No, but they're not secondhand.
I didn't like like new pack but cast of 10 bucks or whatever.
Yes, yeah, I'm like, just take some money.
You know, money is money, right?I'm cheap as well.
So the carousel got no response.Yeah, yeah, I'm like, OK, let
me. My first option was not to be a
good person. My first option was to make

(18:51):
money. Yeah.
And then that didn't happen. So I actually I'm like, OK, I'm
part of this WhatsApp group as the time of recording it's it's
growing a lot it. Has way.
There's a WhatsApp group that like if you have stuff you want
to just. Give yes, which actually I
invite you to because it's you are genuinely like you are.
You have been doing a lot of stuff.
It's for Hong Kong Island particularly so that the group
is called Hong Kong Island Free Cycle and it's very, very strict

(19:14):
on like only, only free stuff. So a couple of people were like,
oh, I have this thing for sale and the the admins just jump on
them and don't sell anything andit's really good.
OK, OK. OK, so as a time of recording,
it has 686 members. OK, it's it's nuts.
And you know, Hong Kong Island as a general thing, Yeah.
It's like people who are like generally well off, right?

(19:36):
Like, Hong Kong Island is expensive and all of this.
So I take a photo of my little toothbrush heads and it's very
clear that they're like, you know, sealed, individually
sealed, like, no harm there. And I even like addressed by
saying like, of course they're sealed.
Like :) like case. People think it's fucking.
Weird. Don't.
Yeah. So I just posted them like, hey,
I have these like toothbrush heads.
I upgraded my my toothbrush. I have those.

(19:57):
I'm happy to just give them away.
Yeah, and I'm like, I, I followed up by saying, you know,
first come, first serve. I'm not going to like bother
messaging everyone. Individual is not a fucking
couch. So I'm like just whoever comes,
I live on Shanghuang and whoevercomes, just take all of them.
So where do you put the Outside your door or like they have to
open it? Whoever messaged me first
basically was going to be like, I was actually, I was going to

(20:18):
put them in my mailbox, yes, right.
So but then the thing took a turn because I posted that and
first come first serve I want togive them to one person.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's easier, yeah.
I got so many messages in the next like next 5 minutes, like
individually people are just like immediately messages.
I'll take them, I'll take them, I'll take them.
What can I have them? Where do you live?

(20:39):
Where can I pick them up? As if I'm saying I'm picking,
I'm giving away like excess likebags of coke and I just stopped
using. Yeah, exactly.
And I'm like, what the hell is going on here?
So I just wanted the first couple of people going like, oh,
I live here. But there's just the messages
kept coming. And I think one of the funnier
things to me is like, because they don't want to show

(20:59):
themselves in the group. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There is a couple of people I respect the more who message on
the group. It's like, really?
Yeah, it's like, I would I'd worry that, you know, if I put
it on the group, then you'd missit.
This And they'll bombard the group of people who are not
interested. I would want to tell you that I
was like, oh, this is me. Like there's no need for me to
tell the whole group that I wantbecause other people in Group
like this not information I needto know.

(21:20):
Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. But they're kind of like, I want
people to know I'm so cheap. Yeah, yes, yes.
I mean, you are in that group, dude.
Like the fact that you're in a group, like what's the next free
thing to get away so. Fucking funny and actually like
that group genuinely like if yougo and like how how like stuff
people give away, it goes all the way from like actual like
just a whole house furniture. Basically like everything, I get

(21:41):
it. Everything needs to go.
I mean, Stanley, like I'm movingmy landlords kick me out, blah,
blah. And then like you need to pick
it up like today. And it's like, well, this is
this is basically $100,000 in furniture that someone is just
giving away, which is crazy. And that is what this kind of
group is for. And at the same time people are
like, hey, I have two extra dog poop bags.

(22:03):
Yeah. Really, it's like, I would think
it's. Just one, I mean fair enough.
I get it. Like you just feel like I don't
want to just, I, I can't understand the logic, but I'm
sitting like, Oh my God, just somuch work.
Yes. It's so much work.
And it's also like, are you likeif you are picking up an extra
dog dog poop bag, are you wait for recycling?
Are you just that cheap? Yeah, It's like I'm gonna go all

(22:25):
the way to another building to pick up something that is
absolutely worthless. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So I get it. Yeah.
I can understand people go like, come on, man.
Really. Yeah, yeah, come on.
Exactly. And when I told that story to
somebody else, they actually pointed out such a good point.
In Hong Kong, obviously people are busy and like, it's
expensive, whatever. And they're like, by the time
they actually engage with you and like texting and being like

(22:47):
figuring out when to pick it up,they're like, you could have
worked a little extra. Hard that money back.
And made that money back so quickly.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, dude, this is the
running thing of the person who will actually waste an hour
going from one supermarket to the other, Yes.
To save $2.00, yes, yes. But I got.
We have to also remember there are some people who actually
maybe are just so. Damn, retired.
There's nothing better to do. They're just hanging.

(23:08):
They're like, what's the next thing to do?
And this again brings the thing. You have all these interest
groups for LD elderly that like, yeah, they literally have money
to burn. Yeah, yeah.
Like when I was younger, when I built computers like the full
desktop and everything, I'd be in shampoo walking from one shop
to the other with a sheet of paper.
And right now this is like $110 cheaper.
Yeah. Something about my hardest from

(23:28):
shop #7 Yeah. My heart you.
Know you get bargain and you're like I got so far.
It's this, yeah. What they do, they list their
prices on on a sheet of paper after their their shop and
they'll be OK. This shop sells cheaper hard
disk. That shop sells the procedure
and I will literally waste two hours.
Yeah cuz come on when you're I. Mean knowing you as well, like
like that's your percentage as well in terms of like you can

(23:50):
you can get really obsessive about like what's the best Oh
yeah possible or like what's thebest combination.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, but also, you know, when
you're younger, you're like, dude, I have time.
Yeah, of course. So I'm guessing with a lot of
these people that for all, you know, the kind of like,
literally, oh, I start my job next week.
Yeah. I have nothing new this week.
I'm trying to minimize my car and you came in the picture like
this is perfect. I just say $10 here.
Yep, it could be that. But there's and of course, at

(24:12):
the same time, there are all people like you do know that 24
hours is expensive, right? Of course.
And like they're like, we'll travel all the way from Chung
Chung just to come down and spend 50 bucks on train.
Yeah, 24 hours is definitely not.
Yeah, yeah. You know.
But yeah, I know, I know. But.
Yeah, like going back to so I got so many messages and I'm
like, you know, I'm checking like whatever.
Like people have their little profile picture.
Some of them are like, you know, expats with kids.

(24:33):
Yeah. I'm like, they can't be like,
they can't be like someone who'slike a hobo, yeah, or whatever.
Yeah. And so here's what I decided to
do because I had said originallyin the group like, oh, it's just
like, I'll give them to whoever.I ended up.
I just I decided to have fun andI started giving individual ones
so. When they show up, you're like,

(24:54):
you get one. Yes.
Wow. You.
Yeah. Dick.
They come all the way. They're like, how many do you
have left till like one, yeah. Oh, OK.
Yes, exactly. Were they disappointed with?
Okay, great. Thank you.
Well, a couple of people were like, so the rest were gone.
I'm like, yes, that's it. Wow.
I had more but I just wanted to.Have fun.

(25:14):
That sucks man. I met somebody outside and give
them two. So I was just having fun.
You're, you know, I, I genuinelyhad a lot of fun that day just
because just to see people all the way come here, I'm like,
it's also kind of almost punishing them for being that
cheap. Dude, you know.
Oh my God, dude. Someone might be listening to

(25:35):
this. I'm not joining that group, man.
Yeah, don't. Yeah, don't out me on this.
Yeah, yeah. And the craziest part about this
is that actually somebody sent their helper.
That's why I'm like, Oh no, like.
Like you have all that ability of you.
Have all that ability. You came.
They sent their helper the all the way down.

(25:59):
They live on mid levels, by the way, like they live on mid
levels. They send the helper down all
the way to San Juan, of course, on her feet on a hot day.
And then and I had, by the way, Wendy said I'm sending the
helper. I did say I only have one left.
Yeah. And he still sent the helper.
Well, I guess, yeah, they kind of.
Well, she's not the help, is there?
You know, Sporting. No, she wasn't.

(26:19):
I I wanted to see the check. It was also my own, like, let me
see if they would still go for it.
Yeah. I want to be like, while she's
at home. I'm like, hey, by the way, I
only have one left to go. Yeah.
OK. Help her.
I don't know. So here's my original question
based on this whole story. Has Hong Kong always been like
this or is is there? Is there something?
Wrong with this with everyone inSingapore or Hong Kong, you've

(26:41):
always got those like, for example, when I go to Singapore,
yeah, you'll see people's habitsare like why really you're going
to like argue about this yeah and yeah.
I think it's just you're going to every city like this, but 7
million people percentage wise, you all you need is like 50
people who are this cheap Yeah, but they don't represent nor is
it it's an anomaly in the statistics.
So yeah, I I think yes, definitely Hong people have
always been this cheap because again, Asia itself we've we've

(27:02):
come up from not abundance and Ialways this like explains to a
lot of people like when I go over see through Western
everything I'm like, do not understand like we were not born
into abundance yeah. So the idea of like, oh,
there'll always be money there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There so that's what the tips and everything like no you know
so it's the same with like the kid who was always born with
like oh parents will cover me they start throwing the money
away he's like oh you know anything I'll just call dad yeah

(27:23):
yeah yeah so I think we've always had that thing and
especially when you're around people it's all about you know
look at the bargain look what I got of course Jimmy's right yeah
it's. Like guess how much?
Yes. Yeah, you're right.
It's like. That's why it's so relatable,
because basically, and funny enough, it's like he makes it
like an impression of his mom, but he basically makes it about
an Asian mom. And it's actually not true.
Yeah, my mom is exactly the same.

(27:44):
Yeah. It's basically all the
immigrant, kind of like slash, like third.
Word exactly yes. Because my mom would literally
call me and send me a photo on WhatsApp.
She's like, we bought this curtain hanger.
Yeah. And I'm like, oh, it's so nice.
And then she goes, guess how much?
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, of course.
That's why he's the one who who made it a point.
But we all experienced it. Yeah, we all.
Experienced that, yeah, yeah, yeah.

(28:04):
So I think that's the thing withHong Kong's well, that every
time we save money, we're like, yeah, I won.
Right. I would like to make an
announcement now and then we're gonna.
Yeah, yeah, I have two more, oneand one.
Yeah, look at this. It's the cameras right here.
I have two more Oral-B toothbrush heads, actually two
different, like 1 is like soft bristle and the other one is

(28:25):

man Yes, yes, yes. Or if you are coming to a comedy

No, no, there is. I'm saying like you can just put

It will be fun. But from the Patreon, message us

(30:15):
This is the toothbrush heads. The new ones are not compatible

Super fun. Oh, man.
Well, there you go. I mean, we're trying to save a
lot of money. We're trying to help everybody
out, you know. Yeah, and the environment and
all of this. Yeah, you know, Yeah.
So, yeah. So Speaking of the environment,
man, the I believe the Hong Kong's going to get shaken up
real soon. Oh yeah, you know.

(30:35):
We have, yeah, we have. You know, we planned the back
story a little bit. It's actually kind of started
from the Jimmy O Yang shows as well, because when those
happened, like you hear that a lot in Hong Kong before, like in
general, the last like few yearsafter COVID, like, oh, the
economy's like really struggling.
Like the F&B is like, like, you know, the retail and all of
this. And it's definitely true when

(30:57):
you see like some sectors, like you're looking at the shops and
there's a lot of stuff closing. Coffee shops open for like 2
months and then they close and all of the stuff.
And then I always thought, like, historically, when things like
this happen, as long as not too bad, like a war, there is
definitely always a need for comedy because it almost
counters. That pressure Good times or bad

(31:18):
times? Exactly, Good times and bad
times. Exact counters that pressure
people like find as release or whatever.
And I thought Jimmy O Yang really showed that when it came
to how many people turned up. Because this is not if the city
is struggling. And yes, some some of the
tickets were cheaper. Yeah, but if the city is
struggling he wouldn't sell like35. 1000 tickets.
It just doesn't make sense. Yeah, yeah, right.

(31:40):
And I'm like, oh, so we we happen to work in the same
sector. Like why don't like people are
attracted to a story? That's what I genuinely believe.
People follow a story. People follow Jimmy.
He's super funny. He's everything but the like her
story and people follow you for your story as well.
Like people just, you know, likeit's either inspiration or

(32:01):
they're relatable and stuff likethis.
I'm like, what can I do to maybedo something like this to give
people in Hong Kong a story for when it comes to our comedy,
like the the comedy scene? Yeah.
I'm like, why do I? Then I started researching.
So how did the the Melbourne Comedy Festival started?
There is the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, the Edinburgh Festival

(32:21):
in general. And then I actually landed in
the Middle East, ironically, where I'm like, oh, both Abu
Dhabi and Dubai that are kind ofcomparable there.
It comes to the size of the comedy scene.
Yeah. Have been having their own.
Dubai is called Dubai Comedy Festival.
Abu Dhabi calls it Abu Dhabi Comedy season.
Yeah, it's kind of the same thing.
None of them are like festival, like competition.

(32:43):
There's just different branding. But those cities for the last
few years have been choosing a time of the year usually like
summer or whatever, where they just, it's this is the comedy
season. Yeah, this is the comedy time,
right. It's the same as Melbourne, same
as Edinburgh. And they just started like a few
years ago. They started with like one or
two headliners, Yeah. And now the if you look up the

(33:06):
Abu Dhabi comedy season, which is just wrapped up, they
basically went absolutely mentalwith their budget and how much
like how how how many headlinersthey can get.
They had the lineup for this year.
Off top of my head, there's more.
It's Gabriel Iglesias, Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle, Bill
Byrne, Gadel Mala, just off top of my head.

(33:27):
And then it's like, this is likefucking so many more.
Pete Davidson was there. It's just like, it's so mental.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'm like, OK, we will never
get, not never. But like we, we, we don't have
the infrastructure and the demand.
People will just get exhausted if you do that to them here.
But we can have the seed of this.

(33:49):
I'm actually going back to Hong Kong.
That's also, I believe, how Clock and Flap started.
Yeah. It was just like Justin, like
those guys in the beginning, they'd.
Like to put a joke, Yeah. Made the whole thing out.
Yeah, yeah. Just made the whole thing up.
It's like, yeah, this started from nothing.
Nothing this big. Just lame.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not like the aliens don't
just give you clock. And flap this is.

(34:09):
It everything started like this.I'm like, well, nobody's doing
this. Why don't I do it?
Yeah, it's literally I I have a production company.
This is what I do. Why don't I just do this?
So I just created Hong Kong Comedy Season.
Yeah. So when I started talking to,
like, business people in Hong Kong and, you know, I started,
like, running my ideas past them, they all kind of agreed.

(34:30):
Like people have different opinions, but I was told kind of
the same points that I need to consider. 1 is like, good idea,
which is good. Like I was encouraged to keep
going, but I was very clearly told one, you have to do it at a
scale that is convincing when you are talking.
Like if you just have call it whatever, because you can call
anything. Anything.
Yeah, Yeah, right. You can call like, you know,

(34:51):
universal comedy. Ha ha ha.
Yeah, yeah, whatever. But then it's like 4 shows at
bar 109, right? Like you can do that.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, but then people will know.
People are not stupid. They're like, you need to do it
at a scale that is convincing, like how you can scale this up
and #2 you have to take the riskon the first one.
Yeah, that's something. I was actually offered some

(35:12):
assistance, like some backing from friends or whatever.
They're like, we can help you, which I said no to because if
I'm gonna take the risk, I'm just gonna take the risk all.
The way. But and they're like, you don't
ask people to help you with an idea.
You do the idea. Yeah.
And then you show a proof of concept.
Yes. So that's what I'm, that's where
we are now. Is that like that's obviously

(35:32):
these conversations happened over the last few months.
Yeah. And I'm like, OK, so on that
scale, what do I do to make it like, yeah, make a proof of
concept big enough? So I decided to go for a Chinese
American name. Yeah.
Because that's also, we talked about this on here as well.
We're like, who are the big names that can sell a lot or
whatever? And Jimmy Wang again, proved

(35:53):
that. Yeah.
And I'm like, I'm friends with Joe Wong.
Yeah. Like, he's a personal friend of
mine. We work together so many times.
He's obviously a big name. Why don't I just message him?
And I was just like, I just, I'mso lucky to have a Direct Line
with him. Yeah, when I'm just like,
literally message him on WeChat,I'm like, hey, Joe, yeah, I'm
thinking of doing this thing. I actually when I booked him in

(36:14):
the beginning wasn't a conceptually the whole comedy
season thing. Yeah, but just like his show,
maybe, right? His show, and I'm like, I would
kind of build around it, but I didn't really have a clear idea
back then. Yeah.
As as clear as it is now. Yeah.
And I just went, hey, Joe, you know, we haven't worked together
for a while. He was here 2019 when I was
working for Live Nation. Still.
Yeah. And I'm like, do you want to
come to Hong Kong? And he goes absolutely.

(36:34):
Like, I would love to come. Yeah.
Do the show and everything. Yeah.
Yeah. So worked out like, first the
dates and everything. And his availability for Hong
Kong was 13 or 14 of August. And then after that, like, you
know, worked out all the details, the PNLS, we found the
venue and then Joe's. Joe's Shows became the anchor
for the festival. Yeah, right.
And in a an ideal situation, andthat's also one of the things

(36:59):
that you kind of like learn and whatever, I would have the
biggest headline at the end. It's kind of like the yeah, the
the, the, the celebration, the finale and all of that.
But because of Joe's schedule, he's only available for that for
that window. And it's also too early to have
the rest of the, you know, any big shows before it's actually
Joe ends up be opening the season, which in its own way,

(37:21):
it's pretty. Good people come and that.
Oh, what is this thing? Yeah.
Yeah, What is this thing? He obviously attracts audience
that some of them might have notheard of us and whatever.
So it's actually in its own way,it's really good because we can
be like, hey, we have we have this thing and here's 15 other
shows. Yeah, right.
And then I'm like, OK, this is good.
Joe is now on sale. Let me actually try to do a

(37:43):
bunch more theatre shows. Yeah.
So again, the stronger the proofof concept it is, the easier it
would be later to be like, I executed all of this.
Yeah, let's make this the next basically my idea, like as
simple as there should be a clock of flat for comedy.
Yeah. And I will do it, yeah.
Yeah, Yeah. That's it.
Yeah, yeah. That's I will do.
And actually, it's the most realistic thing and the best

(38:06):
timing is September, Yeah. Which is actually again, like
it's earlier this year just because of Joe's a schedule for
from next year onward. I also, I peed comedy season,
Hong Kong comedy season, designed the logo, had my
designer do a logo, and we just.I peed the thing.
Yeah, the Hong Kong comedy season.
And from this next year onwards,it's going to be all of
September, and it's going to be very strict about just

(38:28):
September. Yeah.
And so when people are coming back to Hong Kong, they now
know, you know, they're excited about, like, the things
happening. It's also far enough away from
clock and flap. Clock and flap is almost always
in December. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
In the. Year and yeah.
And the year and actually aroundthat time, there aren't like, of
course there's always something happening in Hong Kong, but
there isn't like a mega event inthat time.

(38:49):
And we wanna be that, yeah. And every year we're just gonna
scale it up. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right. So now after we booked Joe, Joe
is on sale now. He also wanted to do a Mandarin
show. I'm like, let's do a Mandarin
show. So he's doing Mandarin on the
13th, English on the 14th. English, Yeah.
Of August, English is selling out, Mandarin still lagging
behind, but we'll get there. But if you know Mandarin

(39:10):
friends, obviously mainland Chinese friends or, you know,
people who prefer to watch comedy in Mandarin over English,
come to Joe's show. English is running out.
You by the time you listen to this, you would still have
tickets, I think in the stage category, like upstairs is sold
out. Yeah.
So, yeah, just get on that. Joe would be fantastic.
I would be opening. It would be super fun.
You're doing the voice of God. You didn't even know.

(39:32):
That I didn't know. OK, sure, I'm telling.
You right now because you're on the something.
Like that? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yes. So yes, you will get the Vivek.
You will. You'll hear Vivek doing the
voices. And gentlemen, welcome to the
show. Yeah, yeah.
It will be super fun also with our own little man.
Yes, yes, and. Muhammad.

(39:53):
Please welcome the host of the world's best podcast.
Wow. This guy's funny than Seinfeld
and our headliners, so please welcome.
You're like what? So, yeah, after that I'm like,
OK, let's actually one of the ideas that I, I really believe
in is that they like how diverseHong Kong is and how special

(40:13):
that is for us. Because actually even including
like Dubai or Abu Dhabi or whatever, it's like the people
there, it's almost because there's way too many expats.
Yeah. So even though it's diverse, it
almost feels like it's, there isno identity.
Yeah, sorry, friends there. It's just like, I've been there
many times. It feels like it's just like a a
weird combination is like who iswho?
And it's like, yeah, but it's noreal like, like people like

(40:37):
yourself, for example, is like 345 generations.
Oh yeah, you know what I mean. It's just like, it's just people
from everywhere. And So what I like about here is
like, you know, you can have, wehave our French shows every few
months. Yeah.
And the French shows are, you know, sell out every time.
Yeah. And we have like, you know,
obviously Cantonese shows, Mandarin shows and stuff like
this. I'm like, let me also go on the

(41:00):
idea of like, hey, how many languages we can do?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So actually, we spoke to you and
Tim Chan, and we added one of his shows to the calendar.
And I reached out to my French Co promoter.
Yeah, who is originally scheduled to do her headliner at
Base Hall. Anyway, I'm like, let's just
create a calendar where all of these shows are under one thing.
Yeah. Yeah.
And it's just basically for the last few months, all I've been

(41:22):
doing is to work on this comedy season as basic kind of a music
festival lineup. Yeah, Yeah, yeah.
And then I reached out to our friends, my Trey and Ben
Quinlan. We have been separately in
communication with both of them about producing theater shows
for them. Yeah, because they both
absolutely deserve it. You have done a couple.
You have done one at the Ocean Park pretty much.

(41:43):
I have done that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So like, for like, you know, there's only a few guys on scene
even like commercially viable that would sell this, this, this
level. You are obviously one of them.
I would say 400 seats plus. Exactly.
I would say, yeah, really not many people.
Ben and my tree definitely fit that bill.
So let's just do that. Spoke to Ben separately.

(42:05):
Spoke to my tree. My tree, funny enough, had a a
dream venue which she really liked, which is the Tucson
Theater. Oh yeah, she just.
Loves that theater and she produced something there before.
She's like, I've always won but.In I told country or something.
Yeah, some of those, yeah. Yes.
And she's really wanted to do it.
So when we started the negotiation, she's like, I
really want that venue. But like, you know, I understand

(42:27):
Hong Kong venue market is difficult, so whatever you find.
Yeah. So.
And it just happens that I have a friend who had booked that
theatre for show. Yeah.
And that artist, like the booking fell through.
Yeah, on the artist side. So she was like, hey, I'm about
to give up the date. Do you want?
It they were like, Yep. And I'm like, and I just called
Maestria and she couldn't have been happier.
Yeah, about. She's like, Oh my God, you got

(42:48):
the shoes on. Like, I've been trying for a
while, everybody. I'm like, yeah, it just.
It just happened. Yeah.
And here's the venue. So we of My Tree on the
September 23rd, she's filming basically our special, and it
would be so much fun. Yeah.
And this is My Tree is the uncontested, tough female
comedian in the city. Not even like no one even close
to this, you know, and also and in her own right, one of the

(43:11):
best comedians in the city, period.
But especially if you're like, you know, a female flavour
comedian. Yeah, she's she's the one.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, in Hong Kong, the female
comedy, I mean the females in comedy to be like that duration,
that headline. Yeah, my tree is the only one.
I can't think of any other female comedian that can pull
over an hour. You can tell me yeah, exactly
you are wrong in the scene longer.

(43:31):
No, I don't. I know.
A full hour. No, I don't think so.
No. Yeah.
Yeah, My tree is the only one that can do it as well.
And she'll have her own take as well.
I mean, that's also the refreshing part of it all that
she'll have jokes and everything, but like coming from
a ladies angle, she can say a lot of things where like, yeah,
I never thought of that. Yes, she's really clever.
It's actually like one of these things.
Like sometimes I watch comedians.
I'm like, you are almost like darker than.

(43:52):
I don't know if it's on purpose or not, but like, there is
something like almost sinister in a really good way.
I'm like, your writing is so funny, but it makes you think.
And sometimes it make you think about, like, fucked up things.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you're like, how did you
make me do? That Yeah, yeah, God damn it.
And it's so. Clever.
Yeah, exactly. That's one of the things I like
about her is like, you know, andshe's like, she's just has No

(44:13):
Fear whatsoever about her writing about, like, how honest
she is. So.
And then of course, there's our friend Ben Quinlan, who again,
one of the I, I would say the Ogs.
It's been there here from the beginning.
For a long time, yeah. I wouldn't say OG because OG is
like way OG, but like, I think enough for him to have
established a name that people, when they think of comms like,
oh, yeah. Ben Quillen.
I've heard of him. Yeah.
I'll put it this way. Like there's certain names that

(44:34):
in the Hong Kong scene, when yousay comedians, Yeah, people,
it's not surprising. We go, oh, have you heard of
this guy called Ben Quill? Oh, yeah.
There we go. So you at that level.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
And also Ben, because of obviously his connections, the
business world. And I got to learn recently that
Ben is basically most famous than all of us, not just in in
person. Yeah, on LinkedIn, Yeah, he's,
Ben has so many followers on LinkedIn.

(44:56):
That is like what the fuck? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He's super connected in that sense.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like, genuinely an
influence. Ben is an influencer on top of
everything. I'm like, how could he be this
successful, this rich, this funny, and you're also this
famous? What the fuck?
Yeah, what the Hell's going on, man?
Yeah. So he should have no problem
solving, because I'm sure it wasLinkedIn, the people.
I wouldn't want to see this sideof him.
Yes, exactly. So, Ben, so that might sound

(45:19):
almost overwhelming because on top of these three theatre
shows, I also had a bunch of headliners already booked for
September. Again, September just being a
good month. Yeah.
So on top of these three theatreshows, the French show, I also
have Gagenat coming from Malaysia on. 6th of September.
6th of September, Gagenat. If you don't know him, he's on
Netflix. Qindian.

(45:40):
Yeah, Qindian. Exactly.
And the name that Yeah, the, the, the name of his new show is
called Global Chadian Community Citizen.
Or something. Yeah, something like that, yeah.
I have Gadjan coming on the 6th of September, I have Elena
Gabriel coming on the 13th of September.
Yeah. And I have myself headlining on
the 27th of September. Yeah.
And we have Tim Chan's show in Cantonese, if you want that, on

(46:05):
the 13th of September. Yeah, same night as Elena
Gabriel as well. And then there's a bunch of
other stuff I'm genuinely forgetting, like you can just go
to comedy season dot HK and we'll leave that link behind.
But here's here's what I need your support or I think what you
should get behind. It's going back to the beginning
of an idea, right? The idea is like we need to show

(46:26):
the the, the capabilities of what the stand up senior can
can, can do and how awesome it is that we can execute this in a
way that can show everybody like, hey, for the next years,
let's just. Expect something like that,
yeah. Expect something like this, this
is going to be a stable like oneof the coolest things when I
started tapping like, you know, contacts and companies and stuff

(46:48):
like this again, people got behind an idea.
So I have, for example, Ozcham is officially one of our
supporters. Nice.
And you know, once I explained to them they're like, yes, this
is a good idea. We would like to support you.
Macquarie Bank is on board. We have the Australian
International School is on board, we have the American Club
is on board, we have the Asian Society is on board.

(47:11):
Yeah, we have this new cool membership based group called
Tova. And Tova is basically a
decentralized so house. Yeah.
And it's so house without a premise.
Yeah. And people pay a subscription
and Tova gives them access to different stuff.
So they got, they collaborated with us, they are supporting us
on this. And there's so many other other

(47:32):
entities like I'm forgetting actually.
And not to pat myself on the back, it's my job, OK?
So it's just my job to do all ofthis, but to go around and
hustle this much to feel like, oh, I'm actually getting
somewhere with this. It's just like you're raising
something from an idea and now you have like when you're just
looking at the poster and supported by blah blah blah.

(47:52):
I'm also completely not even tapping into my relationship
with Clock and Flap that is helping me execute some of these
shows, which simply means I'm paying a fixed fee for them to
execute. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They'll make sure the lights areworking.
The lights are working you also handle all the communication
with the venue and you manage mybudget like this is my budget
I'm like and you give me ideas of like where to allocate this

(48:13):
for example, one St. posters OK,you talk to the street poster
guy. Will you help me with the
design, blah, blah, blah. But this is a whole other thing.
Clock and Flap is also on board. And they're happy to support.
Yeah. And it's just like, it's just
I'm really proud of it before iteven started.
I genuinely am just like, the fact that it's becoming
something, it's like, this is like, it's also like, at some
points almost growing so fast. Yeah.

(48:35):
You're like, OK. This is fine, yeah.
Exactly when you're just lookingat the theater shows.
And then I started do a show count the other day.
This is 17 shows. Yeah, driving us in a month.
Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is like it's going to happen in like a week or
whatever and it's just so cool. So here's what I want you to do
is just get behind it. Like that's all.
That's as simple as that. Tell people that we're doing a

(48:57):
super cool thing, you know, backstage comedy, us, Ho Ho,
Hong Kong, Vivek and I, there's those guys are just doing
something from scratch. It's just like nobody's helping
us in terms of like, you know, there's no bigger picture.
There's nobody who's like, OK, you do this for us and you some
money. No, just me.
And also 1000% of the financial risk is on me.

(49:20):
It's actually. So just very quickly, without
going into like crazy details, you know, the financial risk on
this scale is basically artist guarantees, production, venue
and other things like execution, production execution and stuff
like this. Basically, I just had to front
everything. Yeah, because it's the only way
it works. Yeah, you can get a bank loan or
whatever. I don't do that.

(49:41):
Yeah, I mean, I would if I'm like homeless, but I'm like, I
don't do that shit. Like I just want to just use my
own money. That also means any risk I take
is just like I'm not bringing anyone else.
Down with me. Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, it's. Just what I want to do, yeah.
So, and I don't wanna say in return, I hope if you understand
this and you would like to support just come out to the
shows. Yeah, that's it.
Comedy season dot HK. Tickets are on sale for the

(50:03):
shows already, right? Everything is on.
Sale actually just go there. What you should do, right, Do
basically Russian roulette, Yeah.
Just like any random show, just just pick one random show, Yeah,
come watch that show. Or like, buy a ticket for that
show, right? And then the other shows then
read the description. I always drank the microphone,
yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
If you can't even drink water, can you do a whole season of

(50:25):
comedy? We'll find.
Out yeah, we'll actually very quickly on the comedy season dot
HK not I'm not going to read thewhole thing but you're saying
yeah, come to our end. So when you're looking at it
it's like a calendar basically yeah yeah like there's so many
shows but also like you can literally come you want but you
can come to all of them they're all so freaking different yeah
if you're looking for example, just.

(50:46):
And I'm sure our listeners have seen my tree.
I've seen Vivek. Yeah, if you're coming to these
two shows, there is nothing. Yeah, they're very different.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So different. Yeah, they're both comedy.
Very different styles. Yeah, yeah.
Exactly. I mean, if it's up to me and I'm
choosing, like if you're asking me so Mohammed, you mean this
whole thing, who do? Should I come come see Joe Wang?
Yeah. The simple reason is not because
he's the biggest or whatever. He is the one who's not from

(51:09):
like he's. From like you, you won't get
like you won't get someone to show up.
Yeah. Last time Joe Wang was here was
2019. Yeah, just FYI.
Years ago, man. Six years ago.
And he is obviously very busy. He spends so much time between,
like, the US and China, working in both countries, and his
profile just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
So that's the one I would recommend.

(51:30):
Number one. Yeah, everything after that.
I like your idea. Throw a dart at.
What we do like comedy festivalsin Australia and everything.
Just like, go watch one random show.
You're like, I don't know what this is, Go check it out.
Yes. And you'll probably be pleasant
surprise. Or you'll be like, OK, turns out
I don't like this, but now you know, OK, this is not my style.
I'm looking for something else. You know, it's like that random
restaurant. We'll go out for a date.
Now where do you want to go? You know what?
Let's go random. Yes, you're going to eat the

(51:51):
meal no matter what. Yeah, exactly.
Must go for just random one. See, you never know.
You like. Oh, it turns out I like
strawberry ice cream. Yeah.
And the the one thing I have to point out is that.
And if you enjoy a show, go check out like and see similar
comedians, even ask like, hey, you know who's something similar
to this person? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Way to watch one show completionand to see all the different

(52:12):
diversity that you have in there.
And if you don't watch a show, you are not a diverse, inclusive
and equity person. Yes, you're adi hater and you
you don't like people to succeed.
Yeah, exactly. That's the that's what we're
telling you now. So think about it.
Look at the mirror. And the next time you actually
look in the mirror and think to yourself like I'm a good person,

(52:33):
just remember there's going to be 1 seat at that show.
Yeah, it could have been yours. It could have been yours.
Yeah, yeah. I mean, genuinely from the
bottom of my heart, I don't wantto stop it.
Like this is like, we couldn't do this without, you know, even
people just listening. If we're if we're doing this
every week and there is 0 listeners, we just shut it down.
But the fact there's two of you or 100 or 500, I was also like,

(52:57):
we're running out of time. But very quickly I was reminded
the other day, very weird. It was such a weird, surreal
moment. Always made me, like, consider
some stuff as like, I didn't know how impactful this podcast
is. Yeah, I have no clue.
I have no clue either. Like, genuinely, because people
like random, I know it sounds stupid, yeah, but random people

(53:19):
listen and they're like, they pay attention.
Yeah. I in different occasions I was
reminded with stories we have told.
Yeah. And I was also reminded that
like, Oh no, when on this episode you have recommended to
do this. Yeah.
And I went and did. It it's pretty cool, yeah.
Yeah, it's so cool, but I'm like, OK, I don't even know what
to say or like how to react. Yeah.

(53:41):
And it's just weird that it's just, you know, I'm because to
us it's just like. Yeah.
You know, we just talk. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But it's so cool that you guys just like, it's so cool that you
even listen. So thank you.
And yeah, it's been like our what, 5th, 6th year.
We'll also do a live recording of this podcast as part of the
festival of the season, and we'll announce that date like in

(54:03):
a week or so. And yeah, and last thing is
obviously the Patreon. You guys have been absolutely
amazing. Yeah, we'll continue on the
patreonpatreon.com/holopod. Yeah, on top of that, go to
comedy season dot HK. Yeah, and if you need like your
teeth are just not getting brushed properly, join the
Patreon. You might get yourself like 2
brush heads. Yes, 2 brush heads, which

(54:23):
actually you can use manually. You can, yes, if you can, if you
without a tooth, without the actual toothbrush as well, you
can just hold like have one of these for emergency, Yeah.
And then you. Yeah, there you go.
Like you could like put next to your floss in your pocket.
Yes, yes, go brush your teeth inthe bathroom.
You have no idea. And then and then and let's say
for some reason, you kind of feel like, you know what, I'm
just not getting the good. Like, I don't know, I'm feeling

(54:45):
very hot in summer time. Melon is good.
Yeah. So you can do that on your face.
You can do that. We love you guys.
Thank you so much. We'll see you at the live show.
