(00:01):
So I reiterate here, the bill isdead.
The story of this great city is about the years before this
night. Hey everyone this is Ho Ho Hong
(00:23):
Kong finally with me, Vivek Malvani and my Co host who is.
Oh my God, we're back in the studio.
I'm Muhammad Nagdi. I can't believe we're actually
doing this. Yeah, this is, this is crazy,
man. Like I, I have to admit, like
Muhammad was away as well. And I really, really did try to
say I'll record a episode by myself and snap a man.
Dude, it did not work out at all.
Like I literally, I kid you not,I literally did not have an hour
(00:45):
and a half continuous. I've been sleeping time.
Yeah, I literally did not have 11/2 hours.
That was continuous. I could be in this room, yeah,
without an interruption. No, I I can't imagine because
your injury as well like injuring.
The one also like all of that. Oh man, I, I let's recap
everyone's like, well, tell us what happened.
First of all, before we recap, Ilooked at the record and the
(01:05):
last episode we released was October 13th.
So that's actually almost a month ago.
Above a month ago when it was November 16th.
I guess I'm so. Sorry.
Oh, yeah. We owe everybody a big apology.
We did not stop the. I got a bunch of messages.
Yeah. What happened to the podcast?
Did you stop it? No, we did not stop it.
We, yeah, our schedules completely went haywire.
Yeah. And we were both not at the same
(01:28):
like we're just not in Hong Kongaround the same time for a whole
month. Yeah, for a whole month,
literally, like. Yeah, yeah.
But you went, it's so funny because you went like W
basically with Western world. I went Middle East which is also
West of here. Yeah, kind of.
Yeah. Yeah, it's all Western ish.
You just stopped halfway. It depends how relatively like
where, where you are. But now we're both here at the
(01:48):
same time. You're about to go away again.
Yeah, but let's get into that later.
First of all, what? Going in order from mid-october?
What the hell happened to you? Where did you go?
Dude, so basically I had my comedy tour.
I decided to add, so OK, OK, letme recap.
Vancouver, University of BritishColumbia.
They have a Cantonese program that was celebrating 10th
(02:09):
anniversary this year, and I'd worked with them in 2019.
I've been there before. I did a Cantonese comedy show in
Vancouver my first time there with them, and they were very
happy. The response was really good.
It promoted their Cantonese programs.
That's to do. Like with our 10th anniversary,
let's do something. I was like, I'm more than happy.
I have my show. I've been touring in Australia
this and that. I think it would be a perfect
show to family show and all thatstuff.
(02:31):
So Long story short, they turn it into a fundraiser to raise
money for the Cantonese program.Nice.
And I was OK, perfect. You know, let's try to work
things out. So we already locked down the
Vancouver days and I was like, OK, you know what, I think I can
fly out on like Tuesday, Hong Kong time.
I gain time going to Canada because you know, you ain't gain
gain the whole day of course. So you actually fly from Hong
Kong to land at the same time. Yes, right.
(02:52):
So I was like, well, I could do a show in Canada on Wednesday,
fly to Vancouver on Thursday anddo like the workshops.
And stuff doing yeah show in Canada.
What do you mean in Canada? Vancouver is already in Canada,
so. Toronto, Sorry you're.
Flying into Toronto, yeah. Yeah, I see.
OK, so this is what happened, right?
So I had some work, some stuff going on Monday.
Yeah. And when I say work and stuff,
it was actually physiotherapy that had to do, right?
So that's not work. That's not really work.
(03:12):
But like, yeah, that was the thing.
And Tuesday I would fly out of Hong Kong.
OK, so Tuesday I fly out of HongKong.
I would fly and land into Toronto Tuesday night.
Yeah, that was the plan. Flights are all booked.
Everything's good. Yes.
I found some good deals where I would fly Hong Kong to Seoul,
then Seoul to Toronto, right. I'm like that's fine, you know,
because it's like it's an extra 1 hour or something.
Layover, no big deal. Let me enjoy Seoul airport
(03:33):
ticket. Yeah, yeah, All right.
So. Airport is great.
But yeah, yeah, yeah, it's really all right.
I only had an hour. Yeah.
So here's where the drama begins.
All right, so I have all my flights and everything booked,
all good. And I do online check in and it
says, oh, you're sold to Canada leg.
You have to go to the airport todo online check in.
I'm like, yeah, cuz it's like anAir Canada Co chair, blah, blah,
blah, whatever. Shit.
I'm like, perfect, let's do this.
I don't care. So I leave my house that morning
(03:55):
with Gloria as well, because shewas like, I'll be with you in
case you need help with your legs.
Because back then I was still, I'd still needed like a little
stick. I'm still limping a bit, right?
So taking the suitcase and then I'm like, yeah, OK, come with
me. We get in.
I was like, we got to get a taxito the airport Express.
We get in the taxi. I'm looking at time.
There's a bit of traffic. I'm like, man, you know, this is
getting tough. Taxi driver hears me say this
stuff. He's like I he's like, let me If
you're really worried about time, if you want for 300 bucks,
(04:18):
I can take you straight to the airport.
And I was like, let's do it. Yeah.
I mean, let's just get there in peace, right?
Yeah. So now I'm like, OK, great.
We can get there in time. It's all good.
Cuz I my check in. So he wants to take you to the
airport from Central as opposed to dropping you off at the
Airport Express? Yeah.
Wouldn't that like take more time?
No, no, no, because it's much faster by taxi.
(04:38):
It's like 30 minutes, Airport expressed by the time I get in,
get on the train. I feel like I feel like you're
running a higher risk taking thetaxi because taxi can get can
run. Into traffic.
So actually what happens, because I'm in central side, you
go straight onto the western tunnel, right, and you're on the
highway. I'm just saying that, like,
you're running a higher risk of having like, a tire blown out
and on the highway, you know what I mean?
(04:59):
Like, yeah. Yeah, I know.
Yeah. Even the Airport Express, it's
almost guaranteed. Too, but I was, I was running
quite tight, so I, I my time wasquite tackled.
I woke up a bit late. I was retired this night and I
literally packed that morning, dude.
Yeah, like I was that busy and everything.
OK, so here we are in the taxi. I'm chill.
It's 11:45. My check in time closes at 12:10
PM Yikes. And I'm like, it's cool, we're
going to get there. It's all good. 11:50 we get to
(05:21):
the airport. I'm like, this is perfect.
They drop you off right outside the departure terminal.
I go in there, I wheel myself toAsiana Airlines, the counter
over there. Are you on a wheelchair?
No wheelchair I didn't have, like I didn't bring crutches or
whatever. I was like, I don't want that
shit, sure, but I did have the stick with me because I wanted
to. Make sure I have one suitcase
as. Well, yeah, one big suitcase as
well, right? And I had my hand carry which I
put on my suitcase. All good.
(05:42):
I go to the counter, they checked me in for the Hong Kong
sole line and I'm like, oh, I need to do the sole to Canada
line as well, right? I couldn't do it on.
They'll get to them. There's like, where's your ETA?
And I'm like, shit, I haven't done my Canada ETA and it's so
unlike me. I was like this is okay.
So ETA for people who don't knowis basically Canada's visa like
clearance. Visa on arrival kind of a thing.
(06:02):
Yeah, yeah, right. This is such a privilege that
you would even forget that it's a thing or whatever because
from, from my like, from my experience, yeah, the first
thing I look at from for anywhere, yeah, let alone
Canada. Like I definitely know Canada
needs a visa. Yeah, yeah.
But if I'm going to like I went to Vietnam recently and Vietnam
(06:25):
is like open for most people or like visa online or whatever.
And I still needed to like triple check.
Yeah, do you need it right? Do I need it?
And it turns out I did need it, but it's online and you know,
but you apply and you get it like descended by me.
Like, pretty fast, whatever. Yeah, yeah.
But like, I wouldn't not, I wouldn't just pick a country and
go without thinking of no, no, no, like.
(06:45):
This is The thing is that you can't do this too early in
advance, right? You have to do like 3 days or
two days in advance only. Yeah.
So I had on my To Do List. However, due to maybe too busy
whatever, I put the wrong date on my To Do List.
You know, I supposed to buy 14 and put 16 by mistake.
Sure. So it didn't remind me.
OK, I'm at the airport. It's 12:04 PM I'm like, let me
get the ETA done real quick. We still have six months, but
good. The council lady was very nice.
(07:06):
She's like going to take your time.
You know there's no line behind you all good and then it's
twelve O 4 PMI go to the Canada ETA website and it keeps giving
me errors. You know what the fuck is going
on? You know it keeps saying our
site doesn't load. This is that.
But you already you wouldn't give you the boarding pass to.
Canada until you get ETA. Yeah, they wouldn't do it right?
No, no no, no dude. Check this out over here on that
(07:28):
day of my on 14th October. You took a screenshot.
Screenshot 12:00 AM to 5:30 AM. The ETA website is down for
maintenance. Oh no, and it's 12 hours
difference in Hong. Kong Yeah, yeah, so.
It's 12:04 AM, Yes. In Toronto.
Yes, 12:04 PM in Hong Kong. Yeah.
It's exactly, exactly the time it starts.
And that's why I couldn't get the ETA.
Sure. And I kept trying to try.
It's not working. Yeah.
(07:49):
And they're like, look, we can'tissue the tick your boarding
pass. But you can get to Seoul and
they're. Like, yeah, yeah, you can try it
now. You can have a risk.
You can basically go to. Yeah, but what you're gonna have
to do, you're gonna have to get out of immigration, this and
that and go to the counter and get a boarding pass printed
there, right. If you get Aeta in time.
Yeah. So I'm like, fucking losing my
shit, right. I'm like.
And they're like, either or elsejust stay in Hong Kong, Yeah.
(08:09):
And get ETA and then buy anotherticket.
Yeah, you can't. It's like, it's too late.
The flights go on the subway, like.
Yeah, get another flight. Yeah.
All right. OK.
So I'm like thinking my head, I'm over there but.
Then the airlines, they're not feeling responsible that they
wouldn't let you on the first leg anyway.
No. For example, if you're going,
yeah, they're going to Canada without a visa, Yeah, the
airlines knows that it's their liability to bring you back.
(08:31):
No, but I can go to Seoul. Right.
That's the thing. So and like, then you can just
go into Seoul. Yeah, yeah, I'm just going to
Seoul. That's all they care.
Yeah. Yeah.
So Seoul was all clear. Sure, sure.
All right. So I was like, you know what?
Let me take the risk. Fuck it.
Let me do this, right? I'm like, worst case scenario, I
come back from Seoul because my show's on Wednesday in Toronto,
right? I have to get there.
I'm screwed otherwise. You look at other flights from.
Seoul, I didn't have time at that moment.
(08:52):
I didn't have time all right, SoI go through immigration,
everything security and I go straight to my gate because I'm
running time on time right and then I checked this out.
I forgot to take a USB cable formy phone however.
None of this is like. It's so not I mean I.
Had a fucking whole episode. Yeah, you're weighing SD card
exactly. You're like maximum.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. And what happened, the fact that
(09:12):
I packed my bag in the morning already tells you I was really
backlogged this and that. And because I was, the injury
slowed me down a lot in general,Right?
OK. Apparently slowed down your
brain. As well.
My brain as well man, you know it's all connected.
That brain balls connected to that foot bone Anyway, So here I
am at the airport. I'm like oh shit.
However, I have one of the USB battery packs that has like the
connected cable to it. I'm OK, that is still at 75%.
(09:34):
I have spare battery if I need to right?
So I'm walking around, really. Quick and let you charge your.
I can't charge. Yeah.
So I'm running out on that, Right.
OK. I'm like, I still have that
backup because I need my phone alot now to do online.
This is not what I can. All right, OK.
Does the plane have Wi-Fi or? Not let me get there, I'll tell
you that. OK, so I'm walking around Hong
airport. I'm like quickly trying to go to
Samsung. Hey, do you guys sell cables
with the charger only? Like fuck that dude, Yeah, you
(09:56):
don't, don't scam me into yeah, I'm like, I don't need damn
chargers all this. I'm like, it doesn't matter.
I'll be fine there. Is there is a a shop but I think
it's outside the air like it's in the air with.
The cables and stuff with the cables and everything, but I was
already inside and I didn't havetime to search around.
Yeah. OK, I get on the plane now.
This is, I believe, barely 3 hours flight, so.
Oh no, this is a three hour flight.
Yeah. OK, Seoul to Seoul.
(10:16):
OK, we get on. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Into on whatever it's called, right.
Yeah. And it's like the old school
planes where there's no USB power plug, which again, is
fine. I'm not gonna charge myself.
Screens. They have a screen, but you
don't get to choose your entertainment, all right?
It's the they have 6 channels. Communist.
Yeah they're playing six different movies and you just
watch. When you watch, you get it like
it's like 16 minutes into it. That's when you started.
(10:37):
It's one of those right? I mean that's fine.
It's all cool. And I'm on this plane, all
Koreans. Yeah and I'm sitting down like
OK and I'm before we take off, I'm messing Gloria, my
girlfriend and I'm like, what we're gonna do right here's my
passport details is that I want to keep trying the keep trying
while you're on land for you. Yeah 'cause there's no Wi-Fi on
the plane for you for sure right.
And I'm like, that's what I can do, all right.
I I know you're telling the whole story, but I would really
love it if there is a scenario where you land and you do it as
(11:01):
soon as you land. But she had also done it here.
Dude, for some reason. Wait.
Wait for the twist, man. Yeah, yeah.
And they're like, yeah, the ET. No, now you know.
But no, you did it. Yeah, you must be a.
Scam right all right OK so so this is it I'm on the plane I
send her all the details we're by the take off I'm trying to
because I'm using data now rightOK I'm messaging everything I'm
(11:22):
like here's my password if you need this information this is my
phone so I was like whatever I can think of that you might need
for me right my. Blood type.
Everything I'm like, how much I love.
Exactly. Yeah.
All that. Exactly.
Yeah, Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
You know all that shit. You know all Canada put the
letter O before it. You know everything you put like
put the A after it. You know all that shit.
Hockey is the best sport. Whatever.
All shit, right, So then we're about to take off and then I'm
(11:43):
just messaging until the moment I lose my Internet because I'm
on the on the yes in the sky. I'm like I.
Always do that now. Yeah, yeah, like I text until I
no longer. Yeah, you're like, oh, too bad.
A lot of the times it's like in the air.
Actually, I'm seeing like. And yeah, you still can kind of
get it. Yeah.
You still kind of get it right. Yeah.
OK, so I'm on the plane, we takeoff, I lose data and I'm like
sitting there and I'm, I'm in somuch unease.
(12:06):
Yeah, where I'm like, first of all, I don't wanna watch
anything on my phone 'cause I wanna waste my battery, sure #2
I'm like, I don't wanna watch this movie, 'cause they suck,
yes #3 I'm just sitting like, sohere I am planning every
scenario. I'm like, OK, if we get on to
Seoul, I look for flights. Yeah, I'm like, and then I got
to think about OK hotels. Their layover is only one hour.
1 1/2 hours, 1 1/2. OK, Now the problem is the
(12:28):
flight is only three hours long.Yeah.
And the, the the technical thingis 4 1/2 hours worth of
maintenance, which means my flight leaves just when the
maintenance finishes. OK.
OK. And I was like, please get a
delay on this flight because it's a it's a connection flight
is a, is also an Asian airline kind of code share.
Yeah. So they'll know I have to
connect. Yes, yes.
So they're going to delay the other flight?
(12:48):
Right. You know, all right, so or not
or not, you know, we'll see. OK, so I'm flying over there,
and that's OK. You know what?
Let me just read my Kindle. Let me just read a book, you
know, stay calm and everything. Then they start serving food and
they're like, oh, do you want the chicken rice or the beam
bop? Yeah.
And they're like, do we like chicken rice or beam bop?
And she's like, oh, we're out ofchicken rice.
I'm like, why do you give me theoption?
(13:08):
Why'd you mention the option? Yeah, yeah, I.
Mean, but they have to, I guess. And the BBM Bob, right?
They give it to me and I'm like,I have to mix it up on the plane
and I have these two Korean ladies next to me who are
getting the BBM Bob like this must be a good choice.
Yeah, right. And so I get the stuff.
I'm like, dude, it was. The Korean they had to get.
Yeah, they had to get. Yeah, exactly right.
So I'm eating this stuff. I'm like, this is actually damn
(13:29):
good. It's actually very tasty.
Nice for a plane. But I was like, this is like
barely any meat, and I'm like, this is not going to keep me
full for a long time. Doesn't matter right now.
I have no appetite anyway, right?
Just stressed out. That's that right?
So here I am planning every scenario where I'm about to land
and you know how the screens show you like the terminal, This
is where you are. This is where you get.
I take a photo of that. I'm planning my route.
I'm like go out, turn left. You have to pass 4 grates and
(13:51):
the right side is going to be baggage clean.
You get that. You got to go over this way.
I'm like memorizing all. That too, yeah, you have to
exit. Basically, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You're not in the. Transfer area anymore.
Exactly. OK, So now we land.
Luckily, I have one of these SIMcards that covers a lot of
different regions. Yeah.
And Seoul is one of them. Yeah.
So you're back online. I'm online now.
I'm messaging Gloria and she's like, oh, the website and I'm
trying the website. And she said the website's just
(14:13):
come back online, right. So she's signing up.
I'm signing up. I'm like, whoever does it first,
you know, we message each other and we stop.
Yeah, OK. She's doing.
I'm doing. She's like, I just submitted it.
Yeah. OK.
I'm like, OK, cool. I'm going to keep you pause.
Let me open my e-mail and see. Within a minute, ETA arrived.
Yeah. I'm like, I got the ETA.
Oh. Damn.
Yeah, OK. That.
Was too quick. That was really quick.
I'm like, that's fine, OK. Then two minutes later, while
(14:34):
we're waiting to get off the plane, you know how they have
that? You line up and wait everything.
And of course, smart, the guy over here books always the
furthest seat nearest the back of the plane because I like that
and I want to give first back. But you hadn't anticipated all
of this. Mess.
Yeah, yeah, of course. And I was like, it's cool, it's
cool. So here I am.
I have all my stuff and the moment the seat belt side goes
off, I'm like, pick this other. I'm already zooming in front as
(14:54):
much as I can, right? I'm standing there with the
waiting for them to get off and all that shit.
And then I have my phone on. I'm like OK, OK, I'm messaging
Gloria. I'm OK, I have ETS here.
Let's see. I'm going to try to mess my best
to get my suitcase. We'll see.
Right? And I'm already, like, going
online to search for other flights.
Yeah, I found a Korean Air flight next morning that will
fly that I can land just in timeand then go straight to the gig.
(15:15):
I'm like, OK, I'll get a hotel. Whatever it is, I'm going.
To shit doesn't matter, yeah. Now, Korean arrival card, you
have to like fill in like where you're going to stay.
And it's really annoying becauselike, you have to literally
choose a place. Have you, you mean is it online?
Yeah, online. Oh, I was going to say because
it's like. Paper.
Yeah, yeah. I don't care.
Yeah, right. Garbage.
Yeah. Yeah, so I just, I just randomly
put say I'm like, whatever it is, let me get out of here.
I'll just say. So yeah, I'm playing and staying
(15:35):
in that hotel. Who gives a shit?
Sure. All right, so I have everything
planned. OK.
And we're waiting to get off theplane and I get a phone call and
it's on my my second SIM card, which is the international SIM
card I've got. And that's the number from
Seoul. I'm like, what the fuck?
This must be one of those bullshit, you know, scam things.
Welcome. Yeah, whatever thing, I pick it
up. I'm like, hello.
Like, hello. Is this Mr. Money?
I'm like, yes. They're like, oh, this is Asiana
(15:57):
Airlines. I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm
actually in Seoul right now. I'm trying to get off, but I
have to get out over here. I don't know if your accountant
can wait for me, You know that. And they were like, oh,
actually, So we just noticed that your ETA has arrived.
Yeah. And first of all, I was like,
how the fuck? How?
Do how do they know? Yeah.
Maybe they've been keeping an eye on my passport number?
Or maybe like the Canadian authorities notified airlines in
(16:18):
case you produce a fake one. Yeah, some of that.
Yeah, they're waiting. Yeah, they.
Verify something, right? Yeah.
And I was like, yes, yes, yes, yes, I just arrived right now.
I just got it 'cause the site was maintenance, maintenance and
all that stuff. And yes, we understand, Sir.
And they were like, Sir, do not go through immigration.
Yeah, but I need to get my boarding pass and everything.
They're like, Sir, listen to me,don't go through immigration.
We will try to get your luggage right and come straight to the
(16:40):
gate. Oh so you will get the boarding
pass for you at the gate and theand the luggage.
Now, luggage, they were like, we're not sure.
Yeah, because legally we're like, we're not transferring
time and everything. Right.
Right. And if it doesn't, they do the
next flight. But the next flight, I won't
make it in time for my luggage. It doesn't matter.
I'll perform in shorts. I don't give a shit.
Yeah, right. T-shirt shorts.
I'll do it. You know I'll freeze this.
For you, let me get on the. Flight.
Exactly. I'll buy a jacket if I need to.
(17:01):
I don't care. Right, I was OK.
So I'm limping myself to the other gate.
Yeah. And by the time my feet were
tired, the snack and. There is no.
There is no way you thought thatcaller would have been like
scam. No way, dude.
Like, I, I didn't know. Yeah, it's I was in this in this
scamming me. Yeah.
I'm like, they did. They did.
Yeah, good for them, right? Yeah, Yeah.
So here I am. I'm going there.
I go into the gate. I'm like, it'll be so hilarious
(17:22):
if I missed that flight because I'm limping too long.
Yeah, you know. Yeah, they give you the wrong
gate and there's some guy going like, ha.
Ha ha, yeah, yeah, yeah. Go.
Did you? I'm like, that's a Japanese, but
sure, whatever, you know? Anyway, so I I get to the gate,
yeah, I go to the counter on my high and and OK, so here's 11
benefit thing is that I actuallybooked myself business class for
the soul to Canada part because that's like 10 hours, right And
(17:42):
I was like when I was booking the fights, I'm like, I think my
leg will not be in good condition.
You can find me for So I'm like,I'm going to splurge a little
bit for that one, right? Yeah, OK, I believe it's because
I was in business, therefore they called me Wow, that was an
economy. I'm pretty sure like this guy,
you know, he's not, we don't sayabout who cares exactly.
Right. So I get to the counter and the
lady's like, excuse me. I'm like, I, I, I have to get my
boating pass. I'm like, oh, you're the guy.
(18:02):
OK, go, go. And I go there to get my, my
boarding pass. And I'm like, oh, my luggage.
You know, what's the status of that?
Yeah. Like what will happen is if we
don't get your luggage when you get on the plane, we'll come and
tell you, right. So as long as we don't tell you
anything, we got your luggage. Right, OK.
I'm like, that is fucked up. Yeah, that is, that should be
the opposite. Should be the other way, right?
You know, like once you get it, let me know.
Yeah, come tell me the good news.
(18:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't be like, yeah, they're
like Mr. Bob. I'm like, no, I'm not the don't
tell me that shit. Yeah, I mean, OK, so then I get
that stuff and I quickly have a bit of time playing.
Not yet. I quickly go and find the
cables. Yes, I find some cables.
Nice. Let me remind everyone Korean
one and yeah. Exactly, so here's the guy who
has boxes of USBC cables I buy from Shamshire PO quality ones.
(18:47):
Yes. I'm at the Korean airport buying
ten U.S. dollars. Yikes for one cable girl.
Like I can't believe I'm buying this bullshit like 65 Watt
rubbish cable. I'm like I can't believe it
dude. You know, I'm like, what?
All the money you have saved on the cable for.
Years I know I can't even buy and I got to put this cable in
the box again now, you know, I was like, whatever I need it, I
need it. OK yeah, I get on the plane now,
(19:08):
luckily because I was business class.
Oh, the treatment is way different.
You know, you walk. In that's still Asiana Airlines
the second. Now it's Air Canada.
Oh, nice. OK, that's a good one too.
It's a. Good one.
It's a big nice one and everything I get on and I they
see business class. Oh, so this one's all time now.
First things, if you've ever done business class, you'll
realize that when you sit on your seat, they always had that
welcome pouch. Yeah.
And every airline has a different some bullshit brand or
(19:31):
whatever, right? Every airline will have some
fancy brand. So the best one so far has
always been I believe is Emirates with a Bulgari.
Yeah, it's it's one of. These over the top.
And like, Qatar will probably belike Giorgio Armani, some of
that, right? Yeah.
So I get to be sure. These guys, I forget what it is,
but it's also one of these fancybrands, right.
But I I was like, it doesn't matter to me.
Sure. It's just a pouch whenever I am.
Yeah. And then I sit down and give me
(19:54):
the welcome, drink everything. And I'm like, don't approach me.
Don't fucking approach me. I want my suitcase to be there
with me, right, Right. And then they're like, OK, I'll
staff close the doors waiting topick up like.
Yes. Yeah, all right, it's all good.
I we get on all that stuff, we fly, we get to the Toronto.
Actually, no one came for that. No one came for that.
Nice. All good.
I'm like, yes. You're like, yeah, yeah,
(20:14):
luggage. Me, I made it all.
Yeah, I made. I messaged my friend Colvin,
who's gonna pick me up over there.
Yeah, I'm like, dude, I'm actually gonna make it.
It's all good, All good, right, OK.
I go to the airport and we're atthe luggage belt and I'm like.
So the way the flight business class, was it relaxing?
It's pretty alright. It's like full flat, Full flat.
All business class has to be full flat.
This one, Air Canada, oddly enough, had a massage function
(20:34):
on the thing. But it's a very light massage,
right? Yeah.
But I was like, and it's like 30seconds.
It's still cool. It was 30 seconds long.
Yeah. And you have to keep pressing
and start, start. I'm like, fuck you.
I'm going to keep pressing the shit.
Right. Yeah.
And the weird thing is that you keep massaging until you land.
Yeah. I'm like, this is good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right.
So I believe I remember, but I was.
I was pretty much working the whole time on the flight.
I barely slept. Wi-Fi.
(20:55):
Yeah, yeah, They had Wi-Fi. I had to pay for it, but it's
one of those, right? And I had to do a lot of work
and everything. I'm like, and I was like annoyed
at myself. I'm like, I'm not lying down to
do this. And if you've ever seen my
Cantonese show, I had this wholebit about how I was lying down
to work even though it hurts my wrists, right?
But I had to lie down, yes. I was like, I need to make the
best of this, this flatbed issue, right?
Of course, I'm trying to work and everything.
And I decide I got to sleep for two hours, man.
(21:17):
And of course, they come up to you.
We'll have some snacks and everything.
And I went in business last. I'm like, buddy, yes, yeah.
What snacks do you have? Do you have So I'm Sushi?
Do you have caviar? They had, like, poke bowls.
Yeah, that kind of stuff. I got like two of those.
Yeah. And I remember, like, before
they were gonna serve breakfast the next day.
They were like, I was like, can I have this book about that?
We're gonna serve breakfast. So I'm like, I'm very hungry.
Yeah, yeah, I'm having some mealand.
Breakfast, Thank you very much. And what I would do.
(21:38):
Yeah, exactly, you know, and thetoilets were all the way in the
front. Yeah.
And you pass by the snack basket.
Yeah. Now air kind of does a really
good job where they put a littlelamp over the basket.
Yeah. So you kind of see what the food
is, right? Right.
So every time I pass around, like, oh, let me get a snack.
Yeah. Oh, is that a granola?
I feel like granola and a gingershot.
Let me. Oh, I gotta treat myself to a
Kit Kat. Yeah.
So I'm taking three or four of those in my plan.
(21:59):
A banana. I'll take that as well.
So I'm getting all that shit. It's all my.
It's just out there like for anyone.
Isn't a yeah, it's a basket. It's like, you know how you have
little snacks that you have chips and everything, but this
is like kind of fancy. I'm like, oh, this is pretty
good, you know. So I got some of those and we
finally landed. I go to the airport now, we land
one hour early, and I was so pissed off.
Yeah, that's one hour. That's one hour less of me lying
(22:20):
on that fucking bed that I paid for, man.
You know, I'm like, why are we landing?
Why are you rushing so much? Yeah.
Because I had to actually wait for COVID to pick me up.
He was only fishing to work at 9:00 and.
You're standing on your two legslike a like a hobo.
Oh my God. Damn it.
Yeah, right. I should be chilled.
I should get him more snacks andeverything.
Yeah, we landed at 6:30. We're supposed to land at 7:30.
Covid's going to pick me up 9, and I'm like, fuck.
OK, fine. Yeah, I go to the airport.
(22:42):
That's 9:00 AM. Nine PM. 9:00 PM Yeah.
OK, OK, so we we, I get over there and I'm at the luggage
belt and I was like, wait, I've never actually picked up my
luggage from a moving luggage belt.
Can I do that? Like I'm at legs stable.
Your legs, Yeah, yeah. Oh my God, I've never thought of
that. Yeah.
And then parting, it was like, Iwouldn't mind if the luggage
doesn't make it now, yeah. 'Cause like they can deliver it
(23:04):
to you the next day, yeah. I was like, maybe they, I I
wouldn't mind if it doesn't makeit.
Yeah. And luggage is coming through.
This is that and everything. And I'm like, OK, stop mine.
OK, stop mine. First time ever, man.
I'm like stop mine. I hope it's.
Not yeah, it's not mine. Oh, that guy's not mine.
And I see him like fuck, that's mine.
God damn shit right now I pick it up, I look it up, OK is.
It what, 23 or? Something it was, it was 23
(23:25):
kilos, Yeah, yeah. No, no, I actually took 17 kilos
only right 'cause I try to be asempty as possible.
Sure. So I can come back with a shit,
yeah, but I can also come back with I only have some space to
buy shit when I come back, right?
OK, so I get my suitcase and I got to sit and wait.
So I'm sitting over there. First of all, there are no plugs
around that I could plug my laptop in, right #2 I was
running low on batteries on my phone and I'm like, God damn it,
(23:46):
you know? Yeah, what?
What about your fancy cable? So I use it on the plane.
I did. I did.
I charged that. But like that, it's a slow
charge, you know, it's one of those.
Yeah. So I'm sitting over there.
I'm like, Oh my God, what am I doing?
I'm just sitting there. And I was like, how long before
I'm suspicious? Yeah, I'm sitting over here for
a while. They're like.
Yeah, this guy landed. And he should.
He should be leaving now, you know.
But you are outside of immigration and everything.
Outside immigration, yeah. Now it's just I've got got the
(24:08):
suitcase. Yeah, I just gotta go through
the last customs exit. Sure.
Where they kind of look at you like anything.
You have. Yeah, yeah, You know, so that
happened and then finally I was sitting and COVID messaged me,
hey, I'm here, come on out. OK.
I go out, all good. He picks me up, Everything
happens. Toronto is awesome.
I do the show in downtown. Yeah.
Great crowd. I've never been how?
How is Toronto? I mean, honestly, it's just
(24:28):
traffic. Yeah, that's what it is.
Yeah, Yeah. So that busy like busy.
It's kind of busy. There's a lot of traffic and
everything. So that the Wednesday morning
before the show that day, COVID said, hey, you want to go to
Niagara Falls? I'm like fucked Jet.
Like, let's go, dude, you know? Like on the day of the show.
On the day of the show, is it like a day trip?
It's a it takes like 2 1/2 threehours to drive over there.
We left at like 9 something in the morning.
(24:49):
I'm like, let's do this, man. Yeah, Cool.
I'm like, this is supposed to bea big deal.
I want to be like, you know me, I'm not impressed by all the
beach I got. Yeah.
Yeah. We get there and on our way
there. First of all, Niagara Falls is
brackets like USA. Yeah, USA have like.
Wait, wait. What?
Yeah, we're going to America. Yeah, I'm like, yeah, 'cause I
was worried. I'm like, maybe two of these
guys still common. They don't think twice.
Yeah, it's like, you know, in Hong Kong.
You're like, you still need a visa, yeah.
(25:09):
Some sort. I don't have a US visa, dude.
Yeah, yeah. So we're driving.
These guys all come. I'm like, OK, this is weird.
Yeah. And at some point I'm like,
maybe I should say something in case we get to that.
I'm like, hey, guys, I just wantto say like I Niagara Falls in
the US, like, 'cause I don't have AI, have my passport, but I
can't get into the US They're like, you can't.
I'm like, are you shitting me, Dude?
(25:31):
What the fuck? Yeah.
And then they were like, Oh no, we're just getting you in like
a. Piece of shit.
No, yeah, I believe that. I know, right?
It turns out Niagara Falls actually is.
Literally it's like as if you'reon Hong Kong Island and Kowloon
is the US. Right.
Yeah, is. That close?
Is that close? So the US can also see it?
Yes, like the US, people can go and see the same thing.
Yes, yes. You're on the other side, right?
(25:51):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And she's like an American flag
and all that shit. And I was like, this is so
bizarre. Yeah, yeah, that is and you can.
See it like you can see nearly. That's OK.
Yeah, you can see it. You can see.
Distance win here and and Kowloon basically.
Wow. Like that, you know, But of
course a huge Niagara Falls thing happening, of course.
Alright everyone, this one impressed me.
Niagara Fall. Dude, nature impressed you.
Dude, what? Maybe you're.
Growing up, finally. Dude, man, let me say it's one
(26:13):
thing seeing videos of this, butthis one you need to be there
like just the just to see the the the the level of the depth
of the water going down. Like God damn, that is deep,
dude. Yeah, that's the long fall over
here. There.
I like literally there's no, no,I've never seen that kind of
height for water to fall. Right, Right.
This is fucking impressive. Man, I think the the biggest
(26:33):
waterfall I've seen would probably have been in JoJo,
which is the natural, natural valley in northern Sichuan.
It was really, really big, but it's not as big.
I kind of knew it was going to be somewhere in China when you
would describe that JoJo, you know, like he went with the
accent Valley 9, Valley something.
Yeah, yeah. I mean like The funny thing is
like Valley, the The funny thingis like growing up I was always
(26:56):
told never go chase, don't go chasing waterfall, even if they
the phrase I forgot the lyrics already.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, So, yeah, I can't
remember. Yeah.
Someone. Right.
So we just saw. You saw.
You're impressed? I was impressed.
Did you buy any souvenirs? No, no, no, I didn't because I
was like, I don't need to. Oh, Niagara Falls.
I'm like, it doesn't help. Yeah, I need that.
(27:17):
And I was like, Maple syrup. Not right now.
I'll get the Maple syrup later on.
Right. I'm always.
Out of Canada, Niagara Falls, isit easy?
You think it's an easy suicide jump?
It kind of is, yeah, Yeah, Yeah,it actually is.
Yeah. You could definitely suicide
jump, right. And I was quite.
Always on the lookout for the best.
Yeah, just in case, you know. People blocked off the What's
(27:41):
the bridge in San Francisco? I have no idea, but I know what
he's talking about. Yeah, like people kept jumping
from there that they actually have like Nets and like wire,
whatever now. And they have people who are
like standing there sometimes tohug you, talk.
Yeah, yeah, to talk you out of. It man.
Yeah, like it feels like yeah. Yeah, yeah, straight up like
that. So that's something I would say
definitely worth. Yeah, I would recommend a good
(28:03):
spot for. Yeah, yeah, definitely.
No matter how you're feeling, maybe if you're suicidal and you
go there, you might not be so suicidal anymore.
Like wow, this is really. So it's actually.
Beautiful, not just impressive like the whole and but obviously
it's very cold. Cold, right?
Like when you are. Too cold at that time because
the sun was really out. It's really nice weather that
day, like we were really lucky it was a beautiful weather.
Yeah. This is impressive as hell, but
yeah, that. And then we walked around a bit
(28:24):
I had we had some Jamaican food and everything nice and it was
just fun yeah. So then we we had to go drive
back because I had a University of Toronto Scarborough event and
it was 2:00 and we get in the car like 2 something the.
Event is at 2. Oh yeah.
OK, so where the car like 2 something?
Yeah, Coleman gets his GPS. He's like, oh, we're going to be
late. I'm like, huh?
Yeah, yeah. Because it says that with the
(28:46):
traffic will take us 3 hours. I'm like, I don't understand
this concept. Yeah.
Because like in Hong Kong, 3 hours is impossible.
Yeah. To go from A to B, it's like
you've literally. Got a circle left, yeah.
You've got in circles, dude. Yeah, You can't take that long
to go anywhere here, right? And then so we're driving in my
head, I'm like, I'm sure I'll befine, whatever.
And we're driving. I'm doing the math.
Yeah, OK, OK. No good speed.
(29:07):
When the traffic hits it's like,oh shit, this is what he's
talking about. Yeah, and you're just on a
weekend. It was a Wednesday.
Oh, that's weird. Terrible traffic.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And, and they were like, yeah.
Toronto's traffic is just, Oh yeah, bad.
They're famous for that kind of brochure traffic, right?
So we get to the event, we're like 20 minutes late, which is
fine. But you're you're not the main
speaker. I'm one of the, yeah, I'm the
main speaker, but it was also kind of like a pro bono
(29:27):
community outreach. Like I do all those whenever I
travel, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So we get there. It's all cool.
It's basically a bunch of Hong Kongers trying to talk about
Hong Kong identity and stuff like that.
Yeah. And I get there and I was, I
just want to say, first of all, man, like you guys were not
lying about the traffic. Yeah.
Like, this is impressive. Nice.
Like like I can't. Not in a good way.
Like you. Have so much fucking traffic.
Exactly. And I was like telling them I'm
(29:47):
like, dude, like I have never had Agps tell me you're not
going to make it in three hours.I'm like, I could make it in
three hours for sure. Yeah.
I've never in my life I've had something I could make in three
hours. Exactly.
Yeah, He's going to say like outside of a plane.
Yeah. Like when you're in a car for
three, are you like, I can go? Anywhere.
Yeah, yeah. Three hours, whatever the
destination, I was going to makeit.
Yes, You know, Yeah. And so we did.
The whole thing was all good. We finished and we quickly went
(30:08):
downtown to the venue. Went to the venue.
Very cool place as well. And this is 1, one of those ones
where people are quite low down,so they're sitting down, you're
on a stage, their heads are justbelow your kneecap.
It's one. Of those, yeah, a bit too high.
Yeah, you're quite high, but it's a comedy club.
It's a national comedy club, right?
Yeah. And so it's pretty cool.
They have drinks and stuff like that.
(30:29):
You have a few people with snacks so it doesn't matter.
Do you have openers? I don't know.
I have an opening there. Yeah, I was just so.
It's just a Cantonese show. Just Cantonese show for an hour.
Yeah, for an hour. Yeah.
My show that I'd normally do anyway.
I do that. It's awesome.
We do the photos, all good. Yeah.
And we're in downtown and the whole street is like a little
Bangladesh. Yeah.
So we're trying to look for foodafter.
Yeah, it's pretty fun. And we find a good place, really
good food. I'm like, this is pretty good,
(30:49):
you know? Yeah.
But then by that time, my body was like, I am tired.
Yeah. It was midnight crash.
Yeah, right. And the next day at my flight
was already 11. To Vancouver, Yeah, yeah. 12 So
I had to be at the airport by 10.
But Toronto, you kind of got a taste of it like through just
like the like the traffic obviously like like looking
around and then the venue. Yeah, You just did the show that
(31:10):
it's. Yeah.
OK. Toronto.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was like, it was like it
could be anywhere. I wouldn't know the difference,
you know, Calgary, it's just. A western kind of like city.
Exactly, yeah. And then so we do Vancouver, I
do that thing that was pretty cool as well.
I mean, there's nothing, no longstories to talk about that one,
but I just did the gigs of very cool.
Then I fly to UK, everything wassmooth.
I go to UK state with my sister and came bridge.
Yeah, we do the. OK, there is a show there as
(31:33):
well. Yeah, the week after, yeah, I do
the London show over there. That's pretty cool as well.
I saw a few familiar faces. I'm like, oh, you guys are here
that like, yeah, we moved here. I'm like, Oh my God, I can't
believe there some of my friendsand stuff.
I'm like, Oh my God. From Hong Kong.
Yeah. Oh, wow.
They showed up like comedians, non comedians.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was. You hear that Like, Oh yeah,
they. Came to your show, yeah, to say
hi. OK, OK.
Hi and just, you know, enjoy theshow.
It's so weird. So you think like there is more
(31:55):
people from Hong Kong have movedthan you would have imagined.
Yes, yes, yes, yeah. So we had that, but I mean, it
was pretty cool. And then, yeah, UK was all
right, London, the usual stuff, yeah.
Then I was in back in Cambridge and everything.
I got to go to my sister. My sister does a lot of research
and everything with the body parts, right.
And so she previous guest. Yeah, right.
In the podcast, you can go find an episode about heart
(32:15):
transplant. Oh, yeah, yeah.
So she took me on Sunday before I was going to fly that day to
her workplace because we got a donor for a pancreas.
Oh, so I gotta see. Someone a donor as in dead
person? Dead person.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. They managed to get it and it
was sent over, so she had to kind of deal with it and cut a
few pieces in that. One and you're watching.
I'm watching, man. What?
Yeah. Yeah.
But I mean, to be very honest with you, it's like go to the
(32:38):
the Hong Kong markets and just seeing a butcher chop us up,
Right, Right. You don't have the context of
this is a human pancreas. Yes, yes, it's just a pancreas.
Yes. There's no content.
What's the color? It was like a pinkish color,
Yeah. And then you had a lot of fat,
the yellow fat around you. Know sounds like and you're like
really close to it. You're right next to it.
She let me slice a bit of it as well.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, I guess it's not for medic,
(32:59):
it's for research, right. Research.
Yeah. I thought it's like no, no, no,
no, no, no, no. She wasn't going to transform
that. You mad?
No, dude, it's a bit too casual for that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Come on here, man.
Yeah, yeah. Squeeze it.
Yeah. Right.
Exactly. All right, let's put it.
Here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Put it in. Put it.
In. Yeah, Put it in gently up,
upside down. You're done.
Shit. Yeah, Well God damn it shit
through his mouth now. Yeah, let you slice a bit.
(33:21):
Yeah, you keep it. I don't know keep it is the
samples, but when I was slicing I'm like, okay, yeah, I get what
you're doing over here, but. You get it that it's fun.
I mean, I could clearly tell youthis was not to belittle it, but
it would definitely wasn't something of my interest.
Right. You know my point.
Yeah. Yeah.
I mean, comedy is way cooler. Yeah.
Yeah. And no.
Part of this made me go this is cool.
(33:42):
I was just like no I'm not interested in this right?
In the same way I'm sure my sister would have 0 interest on
like riding a silly idea it's. Like, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, You know, so we did that and then fly back.
Now this is the thing, right? So I fly back to Hong Kong and I
would arrive Hong Kong Monday night.
Tuesday, I had a gig at 12:00 PM, right?
(34:02):
OK. Yeah.
And I was like, I'll be fine, I'll suffer a little bit, right?
However, I hadn't done physiotherapy in two weeks and
the physiotherapy is like, you should do it as soon as
possible, right? Are you available on Tuesday
morning, 1130 gig? My gig is at 2:00 PM, right?
So 11:30 to 12:30, I'm like, let's do it.
Yeah, this. Is would he come here or?
No, no, I'll go there. I'll go there.
Right. And like, The thing is, this is
(34:24):
where I was Like, this is me before even flying.
Yeah. And when you haven't flown in a
while or jet lagged in a while, you're like, I can.
I'm yeah, yeah, you. Know like.
Yeah, standard. Yeah, put it on the schedule.
Figure it out. No gain.
You know what I mean? So it's Monday night.
I get back. I'm like, OK, I'm, I'm all
right. I could.
I'm going to sleep now. You know, I sleep.
I wake up at 4:00 in the morning.
(34:44):
Yeah. Can't sleep till 7:00 in the
morning. I'm like, shit, yeah, this
fucked me over, right? I thought I'll, you know, concat
be done. Yeah.
All right. I go to my physio, I'm half
awake. Do physio 1230.
Done. I go to go to Kitech for my gig
115. I'm there setting stuff up. 2:00
is my gig. Yeah, it's a bilingual gig.
Oof. I'm speaking.
They're both. So you need you need even more
brain power. You can just run autopilot
(35:05):
exactly the languages. Yes, so I I do the gigs for an
hour and everything. What's the Kitech gig?
So this was like in a company they have like DEI Day and they
had me as a guest speaker. We're doing comedy and sharing
what's for an hour for a whole hour.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we do that.
I've done before but bilingual is like tough and you gotta just
juggle. Why are you doing bilingual like
why did? It's a mixed crowd audience,
yeah, but you. Can all speak Cantonese them?
(35:26):
No, no, You have a lot of Frenchpeople there and all that, so
they do. English.
So I do English, but also they want because also part of the
whole thing was like to show inclusion where you got like
we're gonna include the language.
Not how inclusion. Works.
No, no, no. Like it's just to make people
comfortable because you have some of the staff who are like
the the janitors, this and that who are like, you know, not that
proficient English. Yeah, I was like, you know,
we'll make it work. Sure.
So we do the gig and then by that astronomic man, I'm.
(35:47):
I'm struggling now. Yeah, this hurts.
However, this is just the beginning of my long week that I
had booked for myself, right? Because I was like jet lag.
I'll be fine. So here I am Tuesday afternoon,
and I'm now have to go to West Kowloon Cultural District
because I'm doing the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge race, the
relay race on Thursday. Yeah.
So they want me to do a site visit.
Yeah, I better do it because otherwise I'll be a you're MC.
(36:08):
I'm MC. Yeah.
So here I am, half awake, finishmy one hour thing.
Brain cells at like minimum. I'm going to West Kowloon
Cultural District. I go there, I go to walk around,
absorb the whole space. Remember again, my foot is still
exhausting. Yeah, we're walking around the
whole place. So I get a feel for the whole
thing. I'm like, I get, I get, I get
now, right? I finish that, I go home.
I'm tired as hell, OK. That evening, I'm OK.
(36:30):
I'm just, I'm so tired. I'm just going to sleep and
power through. And then the next morning is
Chongyang, which is a holiday inHong Kong.
Yes, but I have to go for a meeting with JP Morgan, right?
Luckily the meetings in Central,so that morning was, I remember
it's like 10:00 AM now I'm sleeping more.
It's 12:00 PM meeting. I can make it.
I can make it, right. Yeah, it's 10:30 AM 10-40.
I'm like. And you're snoozing more.
I'm snoozing at 10:45. I'm like, I'll get up now.
(36:53):
I'm gonna walk over. Yeah, walk over is all good,
right. I I'm brushing my teeth and
everything. Had my breakfast and I'm like, I
haven't shaved. Yeah, shit.
I was like, well, I could kind of get away with that shaving.
Yeah, it worked me before. What does it matter?
I'm like. You shave before the event, too.
This. Yeah, you know.
This is just the meanest, but I was like, ah, you know what?
No, I don't know man, 'cause I worry certain heads will be
there. I'm like, I should shave, right?
Yeah. So I quickly shave and
(37:13):
everything. Now shaving takes, you know,
10-15 minutes, of course, and I forget my feet don't walk the
same speed they do before. So my 5 minute.
Walk has planned to walk over. I have 'cause it's in shader
house. Yeah, it's really close.
It doesn't make sense. It's a holiday even worse,
right? So I'm going down.
I'm like, Oh, my powering through and this is what the
fucked up thing is like if you know, there are certain
buildings you can take, like thethe what's the Wyndham, the the
(37:36):
building near like we found where there's like the there's a
lift that goes down that one floor.
Yes, yes, you know, and they hadthat block down.
I'm like, God damn it, I gotta go downstairs.
I guess like no one is working. Yeah yeah, yeah, you know, so
I'm running late. I'm like I'm getting late Slim
58, slim 59. I get there 12 O 3:00 PM yeah, I
walk in the room there. Already started the meeting.
I'm like. Oh yeah, yeah.
I'm like, it doesn't matter. I did the gig last year.
(37:57):
They liked me a lot. I got brownie points to burn,
right? We do the whole meeting, it's
all good. Done and done. 1:00 PM I'm out
and I go back home and that day I'm like half awake but that's
the only time I can do my work right?
Because Thursday I have the fullday gig with you guys right
Alright Wednesday I'm working atthem.
Wednesday night go to sleep. I'm like 11:00 PM I'm asleep
done 5 AMI wake up like. Fuck.
(38:19):
Right, so everyday one hour delay.
Dude, it's, it's, I don't know if that's like just Thunder, jet
lag or whatever, but that's exactly what happened with me
when I went to. It's exactly the same exactly
waking up at Hong Kong time. Yeah, like for me obviously
being the opposite and exactly every day adding one hour.
Yeah, it's just one hour. Yeah, I don't know.
It's just just like just. Like, yeah, exactly right.
(38:40):
Yeah. So here I am at Thursday, JP
Morgan gig. I'm in charge of the finish
line. Yeah, last year I was in charge
of the start line and everything, the start and finish
with the same line. This year they got another lady
doing start and I do finish which is great.
So meaning like you just like hide people up like.
When they're, when they're crossing the line, All right.
Yeah. However, I've also go to do the
opening stuff for like, telling them rules and everything.
Yeah, but no one's at the finishline.
(39:02):
Yeah. I'm talking to an empty room,
empty crowd, empty space of justpasserby.
Like what? Why is this guy talking?
Yeah, right. And I'm like, all right guys,
let you know the rules. I'm using my full on energy and
stuff. Race starts and then the people
start coming through and for thenext 1 1/2 hours, horse racing
level coming. Now we've got Fidelity,
everyone. Whoa, that was blue.
(39:23):
This is so good. I love the energy over here
because HSB just zoomed right through the pitch line.
Yeah, I'm doing that for like a whole hour and a half.
Damn. Just non-stop horse being like
just excited about everything, right.
And sometimes you get some people with different banks and
everything where their logo is so tiny.
I have no idea. And the guy in the purple shirt.
Yeah, you know. Yeah, I'm doing that.
We and there's a big crowd, big crowd, lots of people, man.
(39:44):
They're like 4000 runners, dude.Damn.
Insane. Yeah.
Wow, that's crazy. Yeah, right.
Everyone who works in banks here.
Basically, they were in man. Yeah.
It was. It was a huge one.
Yeah. They finished it.
It was like 10:00 PM Then Chris Polanco, one of the
percussionists that is very famous in Hong Kong, he had to
do a set. And I was supposed to introduce
him. Now what happens is, you know,
like how you have these events where everyone's really there to
mingle. Yeah.
And so when there's a live band,no one's really there to listen
(40:06):
to them. Yeah.
Yeah. So Chris did a set.
Barely anyone was there. Yeah.
And I was, hey, I could introduce you.
Hey, could you somehow pull people?
Yeah. I'm going to do my best, dude.
And I've had these situations, you know, of course, you do what
you have to do, right. So I go into the crowd.
Literally with the mic in the crowd going into them, sitting
on the table stacking like, hey, everyone, why don't you come
over here with join me for some live music.
Yeah. And I'm calling them out.
(40:27):
The Wells Fargo over here. You're looking really good.
But you know what? You've been eating a bit too
much. Why don't you join me?
And they're like, we will. We will, right?
Yeah, I'm like you said so and Igo hang sing over here.
Come on, guys. You know there's good music at
that. Yeah, I'm trying to call them
out. They're like sure, sure, sure.
So I walked back to the stage. I'm like, all right, well, come
on over, come on over. Don't give.
A shit no one cares, Yeah. Sitting over there, I'm like,
you motherfucker, God damn it. Yeah, and Chris is playing by
(40:48):
himself. Chris is over there waiting for
me to say, like everyone. Chris anybody?
Yeah, he's, I'm hostile. Everybody's busy eating.
Eating, networking, all that shit.
Because in networking, I get it right, Of course.
Yeah. And I'm, like, trying to try.
Come on one last time while you're going to miss out this
guy's family. Yeah, not many moving.
A few people came, but that was it.
I said alright, well it is what it is, Chris Will and they start
playing and he finished the set.I go up to him, he's like, dude,
(41:11):
I totally get it. Yeah, he's like 2 days ago.
I'm doing this big crowd, 2000 people insane.
Two days later. Hey, you guys want to come over
and hear me playing? Yeah.
And I'm like, dude, you get it, man.
You get those gigs right? Of course.
And so that finishes. I finished the gig.
I'm exhausted. I leave over there, I go home.
That's really nighttime Thursday.
Yeah, this genius over here. Yeah.
(41:32):
Did a full day training with MTRon the 12th of September. 11th
September if I like. Were you riding the MTR like
driving it? No, I wasn't.
So remember 11th September was when I would do my X-ray to get
the doctor's thing to see if I my feet are good. 12th September
I had an MTR training gig where I wore the boots to the MTR.
Yes. Remember I told you that I did
(41:52):
that game right? I remember they liked it so much
that like can you do the sessionagain?
Nice. OK, why wouldn't I?
Yeah, of course do it right. So here I am.
I finished the JP Morgan. My voice is like cracking like
it is now, and I have to go 8:30in the morning till 5:00 PM.
Where? At the headquarters in Telford
Plaza in Kowloon Bay. Yes, yes, this genius.
Like, yeah, I go the whole day, the whole day, I go to sleep.
(42:15):
Thursday night, 6:00 AM, I'm awake.
I'm like, damn it, here we go again, you know, but.
I'm even. You're just waking up, Yeah.
But this works to my favorite because I got to wake up early
anyway. I'm like, I beat the clock over
here, right? So I go do my training and
everything. It's all good.
I finish it off 5:00 PM. I'm like, Oh my God, yeah, I'm
so tired. I just want some ice cream or
something, man. No ice cream.
(42:36):
Just want. A treat just.
Want a treat, right? Yeah, I finished that.
OK. I go home, I'm exhausted, and
this genius over here decides why stop here?
Saturday, I do the Bloomberg that I do every year.
Yeah, Saturday, full day. That's a rock'n'roll.
Yeah, I finished my MTR gig. I've got to do a site visit.
I go to the venue, wait on on. Friday.
(42:56):
Friday I'm doing site visits until like 7-8 PM.
And the Bloomberg gig is where? It's an Asia society.
Yeah. Not too bad.
Yes, Yes. But still, I was like, I'm over
there, right? Yeah.
And there's and you've done it. Like, you know, it's a lot of ad
hoc stuff. Of course, so much improvising.
Improvising, yeah. You play by ear, all that stuff,
right? So Saturday, first of all, I
must say Bloomberg. I love working with them because
they love me. And they're like, dude, we trust
you. You do this thing.
(43:18):
I go this Saturday, obviously improvise this, improvise that.
They told me, hey, come at 2:00 PM You'll be fine.
We don't need you in the morning.
I'm like, thank you. I need to sleep, right?
Saturday I wake up, I'm feeling miserable.
I'm like, oh, dude, this is not good.
Yeah, I think I'm really tired now.
Right, right. Your buddy's like.
Yeah, my buddy's like, dude, I'mand I know by the every time
when I do gigs for four days, 4th day, I'm struggling, man,
you know? So here I am, I'm like, I'll be
fine, I'll be fine. Have some lunch.
(43:39):
I go over there, we start the whole gig.
It's all good. Now, the good The thing is that
they, it's like a it's like a open day for all their staff,
right? Bring a friend and everything.
And they get very good catering. The caterers are usually the
same every year. They all know me.
Yes. And these guys are like, hey,
man, come here, try this, try this, try that, try that.
Sometimes even ask me for like tasteless.
What do you think? Is it good?
Yeah. You know, do you think they'll
like it or something like, Oh myGod, I don't work here, man.
(44:00):
Yeah. So we do the whole event.
Everything goes really well. Fantastic.
And also, we're done by 9:00 PM and I say my goodbyes.
I go home. I'm walking home slowly through
Hong Kong Park. I'm exhausted by the time, but
I'm so, like, wound up. I'm just, I just gonna walk.
I just gonna walk home. Yeah.
Yeah. I get home Saturday night.
So you walk from Asia society basically Admiralty.
Yeah, I'm multi all the way home, right?
That's a good 2025 minutes with my limping 30 minutes, right?
(44:22):
Sure. I needed to walk to wind down.
Yeah, I get home. I'm zoned out.
I don't even know where I am anymore, Right?
I'm out and I just lay in bed. I'm tired.
I'm like, whatever, I get to bed.
So I was like, you seem a bit warm.
I'm like, I'm just tired from the whole day.
Doesn't matter. Sunday's my only day off.
Yeah, OK. I do.
And I was supposed to do a charity gig on Sunday, but I was
(44:42):
like, I can really tell you. I I knew I was like, I'm not.
Going to be doing that. I'm going to get sick.
In sick, yeah, Sunday morning, bam, fever straight up.
I'm like, Yep, I knew it. So my whole Sunday's out.
I do that. And then the next week on when
things start again, yeah. However, I'll be honest with you
things I even though I look backnow and I know that I'm like,
man, that was crazy. But now I look, I'm like, that
(45:03):
was pretty awesome. Yeah, yeah.
The fact that you pulled it off and didn't basically didn't
cancel anything. Yeah, I didn't cancel it.
Man, Yeah, yeah, you showed up. Yeah, you.
Did it all. There was no like, hey, guys,
whatever. I'm like, I'm giving you all in,
man. Of course, let me run on
adrenaline. I don't care.
Yeah. So that was pretty cool.
And one thing I'll say is the week after I got to speaking
with a guy called Isaac Harvey, which is basically a person who
(45:25):
he was born with no arms and short legs and, you know,
scoliosis, all that kind of stuff.
Yeah. And he is from the UK.
Yeah. And we were at Manulife and we
were talking, I was facilitatingthe whole thing.
And it's really I was like, these are the most when I'm
like, oh, I'm sorry, am I too tired?
Yes, yeah, is. This my big problem now you know
where I'm like, dude, this guy'sstill enjoying life and who the
hell am I? Oh, jet lag.
Is that your big issue now you know?
(45:46):
Yeah. So yeah, all these things
you're. Talking even about jet lag,
because I also complained about it.
Yeah, I was reminded very quickly that, you know, people
who are like, most people live and die without visiting like, a
couple of countries. Yeah, like the fact or being on
a plane for like. Some people have never
experienced like. Yeah, that's what I mean.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like, the fact that we're,
like, complaining about it, like, as it's such a privileged
(46:09):
position of like, oh, yeah, I went to do comedy across the
world and got paid. Yeah.
And like, went on business class.
Yeah. And it came back to my own
apartment in Hong Kong. Yeah.
And they're like, Oh no, I'm so tired.
Yeah, Boo. Oh, no.
You guys don't understand the struggles.
Yeah, really, I don't. Dude, no.
Yeah. Like I remember, like you were
talking to this Isaac guy. I remember when I was teaching
(46:30):
at in China, I was, I was showing the students that you
know who Nick Voytich is? Oh yeah, yeah.
Also, yeah. He's the original like no lip
guy. Basically, yeah, yeah, yeah, the
LG. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And he's like, you know, I thinkin the later years he became
like, weirdly like very Christian or whatever.
I mean, he has always. Been like, you know what The
funny thing is that when I thinkabout all stuff, like I could
think of like so many cool titles for him, like, you know,
(46:52):
no arm, no foul. Yeah, yeah.
So yeah, he has like AI think half like 1/2 a foot or
something attached to his leg and he talks about how grateful
he is to his chicken like he calls it.
Yeah, because without that he really wouldn't be topple.
Himself. Topple over.
So the fact that he has that little thing and he's like, so
(47:15):
like grateful for it. Yeah.
And again, it's like, dude, how how fucking positive you can be
that you find like this to be like the same.
Yeah, yeah. But so yeah, you have no.
Exactly. Yeah, and that's what I mean,
like that Tuesday when I did that thing, because I knew I had
to like, rush for others. I said OK on Tuesday, I did his
gig at like 9:00 in the morning. And then I went to a hospital in
which I want to do a gig after that, which again, I was like,
(47:37):
that morning. Yeah.
Made me go, like, shut up with your complaints, dude.
Yes. Like, life is great, dude.
Like, I got to do a gig with this, with, with Isaac, hear his
story, talk about it and be like, this is so empowering.
Yeah. I then get a get to go perform
for hospital staff in Taiwan, make them laugh.
And I'm like, dude, like this. Is great.
This is. Great, like my karma is just
like over the roof right now. Like what am I fucking
(47:58):
complaining about you? Can walk into traffic.
Right now exactly. Like things are great.
And I was like just feeling great about myself.
I'm like, dude, what? This is what life is meaningful
now, you know? Exactly.
And I was like, this bizarre thing.
I'm like, yeah, one week ago I'mlike, I'm so tired.
I have a whole week ahead. But now I'm like, dude, let's
rock'n'roll. And I think that's the problem
because I booked my gigs with this positive mindset, yes, but
I do my gigs with the negative where I'm like what the fuck am
(48:21):
I doing? Dude, you know, yeah, that's so
funny. Like when you're booking them,
you're like, yeah, I'm going to conquer the world.
I'm like, oh Isaac hard being. I'm like this guy's no arms.
He's still smiling. What the fuck you complaining?
I do that gig and you know what? You do physiotherapy before that
and then do a side visit. Fucked you like you know you're
asleep, you know, and you can sleep when you're dead.
All that shit's happening And ontop of that motivation spot
Castle, of course, I'm like, that's are.
(48:43):
They actually playing the motivation.
Yeah, I'm like playing in my head all the time, right?
And I'm doing all that. You don't.
Need to actually listen to the podcast anymore?
Yeah, yeah. And I found this is a recurring
thing. Whether it's me booking gigs,
thinking I can somehow make it happen even though I will, the
process sucks. Yeah.
Or picking up a 37K coffee machine.
Yeah, going down slices and going, oh, you know, I'll be
fine. You know what's going to happen?
(49:03):
Break my legs, You know what I mean?
I mean, and break my legs. I'm like, what's what Motivation
was that? Yeah, yeah.
Where was it? I was laying on the floor like 2
legs. I.
Mean that guy has a chicken foodthat works.
I have two feet that don't. So you know what positive that
shit man? You know what I mean?
Yeah, yeah, try. Speaking of, I will on the part
(49:25):
on the Patreon. You can join us on the
patreon.com/a whole part. I will tell a story about like I
will get to my travels and my stories in the next free
episode. But when I came back to Hong
Kong, which actually were recording on Sunday night, I
came back yesterday, yeah. And I came back from Egypt, from
Egypt directly like to to Hong Kong through.
(49:45):
Did you? Did You did?
You fuck was I? When you came back from Egypt,
did you bring a people as well? Did you, like get away, lead the
people through Egypt? Yeah.
Yeah, I did. Yeah.
I LED a plane of 400 people. Did you part the seas?
Yeah, I parted the the skies of of Beijing did.
You fly with locusts with the frogs on the plane.
Yeah, no, they tried to follow US, but they got stopped with no
(50:07):
visa because they have, they're Egyptians.
There we go. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, they're like, you can't leave.
The border ETA not an EGY. P Yeah, exactly, yeah.
So yeah, I came through Beijing.I remember now where I was.
And then I landed in in Hong Kong and Egypt.
Beijing, then Hong Kong. Yeah, Cairo, Beijing, Hong Kong.
Nice. It's China.
Air China. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, and I landed like I came on that day Saturday, because we
(50:30):
had a show at night and we actually had to pull it.
And for a very unfortunate reason.
That's what I get on. Yeah, you didn't even.
Know because you know. Yeah, I will have, yes.
This is yesterday. Yesterday, last night, and I
can't talk about it in the free episode.
That's when we get to the page. Something not very good happened
and I had I mean, it sucks for many reasons. 1 is that like I
(50:53):
had land, I could have stayed more because obviously my work
is mostly on weekends. Yeah, but the the more sucky
thing is that I landed with, youknow, from such a long trip
straight to like emergency mode.So that sucked, but yeah.
Well, I mean if you want to knowhow it sucks for Mohammed, just
like every other episode. Patriots.com/hohoblood.
(51:14):
I know we're about to do the Patreon right now.
I promise you, if you're not in the Patreon, the next episode
will be my fun part of my fun trips.
We'll also recap my last month. Basically, that involves a lot
of stuff, you know, Vietnam, Shenzhen, flying to Egypt
through Emirates, and you know, there is weddings, there is
diving, there's a whole other ofcool, cool stuff.
(51:36):
I did have a great time in Egypt, so stay tuned for that.
But yeah, you can join us on thePatreon.
It's one way to keep supporting and all of this.
Thank you, everyone. We're sorry for coming back so
late. This is the longest break we've
taken basically since we startedthe podcast.
Not going to happen again. Not this long anyway.
Actually, no, we did take another break when we had other
issues that we right, that doesn't count.
(51:56):
That doesn't count since we're running the podcast regularly.
We don't just like, like a holiday.
Of course, just want to throw that in the case we have like
die half like no that's true, this graph shows us.
That is true. We were told at some point to
just go dark, which we did. Let's not say go dark.
I responded Already we are already dark.
Yeah. Oh, there you go.
Hey. But thanks, everybody.
(52:20):
We'll see you and the Patreon. Otherwise, next week, come to
the live shows. They're still going.
And yeah, see you. Bye.
(52:52):
Music.
