Barbara Shor, DVM became an animal communicator after she encountered elephants in Africa. They became her mentors and teachers and gave her a new understanding of themselves and how they view humans and their value to the planet, their unconditional love and what they suggest should happen to make the planet flourish. She has also learned to communicate with whales and listened to their view of humans, and her experiences on how spiritual they truly are. She advises us how to think when visiting a zoo and how much support all animals need from us emotionally and mentally and how to achieve that. Barbara Shor is the author of Soul of the Wild: Book II, The Wisdom of Elephants and her first book is called Soul of the Wild: Intimate Messages from the Hearts and Souls of Elephants & Whales.
Guest Bio:
Barbara Shor, DVM who has a life long passion for and dedication to animal advocacy, conservation, and welfare, demonstrated by more than 30 years of international work in veterinary medicine and zoological research but left that world of domestic veterinary medicine to pursue her true calling as an animal communicator for pets and wildlife. Starting to talk to animals did not happen right away, it was a journey, starting with a degree in biology, then training dogs professionally, graduate courses at Purdue University on wild animal behavior while working with wolves and coyotes, volunteering at the Denver Zoo hospital, and doing field studies with wildlife. In 1983 she graduated from Colorado State University as a veterinarian, with a residency in non-domestic animal medicine at UC Davis & the California Department of Fish & Game. She has served as zoological and wildlife veterinarian at several zoos and wildlife facilities in Africa and the United States with a focus on neonatal care; diagnosis; treatment; medical management; capture and re-locations; immobilizations; and necropsies. But what changed her life came in 1989 when she spent a year in Africa. In 1992 Barbara started a new career in animal communication. She wanted to get to the root cause of an animal’s emotional and physical issues, and get to know who animals are as spiritual beings and what they want to communicate to us. Barbara is the author of Soul of the Wild: Intimate Messages from the Hearts & Souls of Elephants & Whales. Her other book is titled : “Soul of the Wild Book II: The Wisdom of Elephants.”She has a podcast called Animals & Us: Voices of a New Paradigm.

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
