A Refuge in the Storm: The Promise of Psalm 91:2-4

Welcome to the Recovered Christian Podcast.
This is Susanne, and today wedelve into the comforting words
of Psalm 91, 2-4.
"This I declare about the Lordhe alone is my refuge, my place
of safety.
He is my God and I trust Him,for he will rescue you from
every trap and protect you fromdeadly disease.

(00:37):
He will cover you with Hisfeathers, he will shelter you
with His wings.
His faithful promises are yourarmor in protection.
This entire Psalm was my go-toduring the pandemic.
I absolutely love this Psalm.
We'll be covering more of it inthe coming days.
Every verse is so full ofpromise and comfort.

(00:58):
It's a Psalm of protection.
Life can be hard.
Recovery can be hard.
It's easy to feel overwhelmed,to encounter traps and
challenges that seeminsurmountable.
But in these verses we findassurance that the Lord is our
refuge, a safe haven where wecan seek shelter.
Our trust in Him is notmisplaced.

(01:19):
In the arms of our HeavenlyFather, we discover a refuge
like no other.
The Psalmist says he alone ismy refuge, my place of safety.
He is my God, and I trust Him.
What a profound statement offaith, acknowledging that our
trust in God leads us to asanctuary where we find peace,
security and divine protection.

(01:41):
Our God is not just a distantobserver.
He is intimately involved inour lives, ever ready to rescue
us from the pitfalls that seekto entangle us.
And aren't there just so manyof those?
His love is our shield and Hisgrace is our safeguard.
Have you ever felt trapped,caught in the snares of life?

(02:01):
Maybe it's a struggle withaddiction, a broken relationship
or the weight of a burden past.
The words of Psalm 91 resonatewith the promise of rescue.

Picture this (02:11):
Under the protective wings of a mother
bird, her chicks find safety andwarmth.
That's what the Lord does forus.
He covers us with His feathers,offering a refuge where we can
experience His love andprotection.
In times of trouble, we're notalone.
We are sheltered, cradled inthe arms of a God who cares so

(02:32):
deeply for us.
When I'm feeling stressed orscared or unsure, I picture
myself tucked up under the wingsof my Father, warm and safe,
covered and protected.
He will battle for me.
I need only to rest and let Himtake care of me.
And then I pray.
I ask the Father to help mefeel Him.

(02:53):
I ask Him to make His presenceknown.
When I'm feeling lost and needto know that he's got me, I ask
Him to let me know He's there,and I cannot tell you how many
times I felt an overwhelmingpeace just flood my heart.
He wants us to reach out.
He wants to come into our lives, in our hearts, and he's just a

(03:14):
breath away.
Let's hold on to the assurancethat God's faithful promises are
our armor and protection.
In a world filled withuncertainty, His promises are
stead fast, unchanging and asource of strength.
We find safety not in ourcircumstances or our abilities,
but in the unwavering promisesof our loving God.

(03:36):
Let's pray, Heavenly Father, wecome before you with hearts
full of gratitude.
Thank you for being our refugeand our fortress In the midst of
life's challenges.
We trust in your promises.
Rescue us from the snares thatentangle us and protect us from
the trials that seek to harm us.

(03:56):
Cover us with your feathers,lord, and shelter us with your
wings.
May your faithful promises beour constant source of strength
and assurance, today and everyday.
