Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to
Homeopathy at Home with Melissa.
Hey Melissa, hey Bree, it'sgreat to see you.
Always good to be here.
It's been a little bit since werecorded, yeah, so this is fun.
Yeah, tonight we are followingup with our we were calling it
summer encouragement series.
I think we were Summer or justencouragement.
(00:23):
Maybe we threw out calling itsummer because we started in the
summer, but it's not summeranymore, so this is just the
encouragement series.
We're working through somepoints that I had gone over at
the retreat, which we've beentalking about and planning for
for next year.
So if you're listening to this,I think it'll be January,
(00:47):
february.
There's still plenty of time.
Yeah, um, may 2025, it was sucha good time last year.
I can't wait.
Um, and this is some stuff wetalked about.
So do you want to say anythingbefore I just go ahead?
Speaker 2 (01:05):
You're going to.
Are you going to recap thefirst, just okay.
Perfect.
Nope, that's good, go for it,okay.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
So I will recap just
basic outline of what we touched
on the first five, but they are.
You can go back and listen orwatch on YouTube or however you
prefer the other five points andthey don't really build on each
other, so you could listen inany order you want.
But I want to preface withsaying this is not at all to
(01:32):
equate homeopathy with biblicalstandards or truth or the Lord
or anything.
This series to me was how Godhas used homeopathy, just like
anything else in my life, toshow me himself and show me some
spiritual truth or just remindme of some of these.
(01:53):
So for me these have been veryencouraging as I'm using
remedies for my family andremembering what true healing
looks like.
All of these points came tomind and I was just jotting them
down, so hopefully they'reencouraging to you guys.
Number one was healing comesfrom the inside out and in the
(02:14):
same way our spiritual growth isabout internal heart change,
not just external.
Number two stimulating thebody's healing takes time and
the way homeopathy stimulatesthe body to do that doesn't
always look linear, and so inthe same way our spiritual lives
(02:34):
can feel that same way whereyou don't maybe feel like you're
making a lot of linear forwardmotion or growth.
Number three was everyone hastheir unique healing journey and
homeopathy and in the same way,our spiritual journeys are
unique.
Number four it's reallyimportant to celebrate the small
(02:59):
victories and recognize thosealong the way and in the same
way that we can see that in ourspiritual walk and how important
it is to have those, you know, stones of remembrance to remind
us of how God has been faithfuland that it's going to just keep
going.
(03:19):
Five was that we are investingin our future, our future
physical health with homeopathy, but also investing now.
Like when you think ofinvestment, you're doing
something now, you're paying nowfor something that will come to
fruition later.
And that's exactly what happenswhen we are disciplined in our
(03:41):
spiritual life and Bible study, prayer, being with other
believers.
So number six is about patienceand making wise decisions.
So my thinking here was how inclass, melissa, you're always
reminding us to be patient withremedies.
(04:03):
Give them time in acutesituations at least 24 hours,
and pick a like, be wise in yourremedy choice so that you are
giving it a good opportunity towork.
So then you wait your 24 hours, see how you do and chronic
conditions, as long that phonecall you have with clients
before is a lot about that, likejust being prepared for I mean,
(04:26):
this is not a quick fix and ina world where, especially in
Western culture, we are used toquick things all around, I mean
so when it comes to physicalhealing, pharmaceuticals, I mean
they don't really, but we feelbetter for a little while
quickly.
I mean they don't really, butwe feel better for a little
(04:48):
while, quickly.
And so, similarly, in ourspiritual lives, decisions that
we make in haste or decisions wemake in anxiety are often not
wise.
And it makes me think of thetimes I have been the mom like
my kids are sick and I'm pickinga different remedy every 30
minutes Cause I'm first of allanxious and I'm just moving
(05:09):
quickly.
I don't feel like I have timeand I'm jumping around to every
remedy and then I go to Melissaand I'm like I've used these 12.
What should I do now?
And so there was just not, not, there wasn't a time that I
would sit and take a second.
(05:30):
I now have learned, like Iasked God, like give me wisdom
in choosing to care, whateverremedies, to care for my family,
so that I can make a betterchoice and, spiritually speaking
, taking the time to seek God'swisdom and guidance from the
(05:51):
Lord and wise counsel leads tonot only peace in our spirit but
more fruitful outcomes.
We have really great mentors inour marriage, in our life, who
are also in ministry, so that'sbeen really encouraging.
They told us one time when wewere just had a lot of fear, a
(06:13):
lot of anxiety.
Their counsel to us was you'regoing to have to wait either way
.
Wait for whatever is next, waitfor this outcome.
So you can either choose towait patiently and make that
decision in wisdom or you canjust make a decision to get rid
of your anxiety.
And that has sat with me sincethen.
(06:37):
Because how many decisions dowe make to just not be anxious?
We're not making a decision tobe wise, we're just making a
decision to not feel anxietyabout not doing anything.
But they're not well thoughtout all the time.
So with homeopathy, we haveresources to do that Well, we
have protocols.
Somebody's already done thework for us.
(06:59):
You just do the protocol.
Um, we have other homeopathswho are more seasoned.
Melissa, in my life I literallyI mean, why don't I?
Now?
I do, but for some time I wouldtry to just spin my wheels and
my anxiety, and not just texther and say will you tell me
what to do or help me?
We have books, the repertory, the Materia Medica.
(07:22):
We even have, like Google thesedays Might be a little censored
, but you can find something towork with.
And these are things, melissa, that you do.
I mean, you spend hoursteaching your students how to do
this, well, well, and we also, spiritually speaking, we have
(07:53):
resources for our spiritualgrowth in the same way.
So we just need to use them.
Ask God for wisdom, seek wisecounsel, be patient, don't be
hasty.
You may end up with the samedecision, but you will have made
it well and in wisdom and inpeace.
So, to wrap all that up, I havea few scripture references.
And then, melissa, I'd love tohear any thoughts you have.
(08:15):
I know you have to have some.
James 1.5 says if any of youlacks wisdom, you should ask God
, who gives generously to all, without finding faults, and it
will be given to you.
Proverbs 14, 15, the simplebelieve anything but the prudent
give thought to their steps.
And then Proverbs 12, 25,anxiety in a man's heart weighs
(08:37):
him down, but a good word makeshim glad.
So I'm sure we can unpack thata lot, but that's what I got.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Thank you for that.
I love it.
You know what Patience is suchoh, it sounds so whatever, but
it really is a virtue.
I mean, it really is somethingthat we, you cultivate.
We're not born patient, noright.
And then we live in a microwavesociety that has taught us that
(09:07):
everything needs to be rightnow.
Right now, right now I can getgratification, right now I can
go to my phone and orderwhatever I want, and it can be
here tomorrow, um, and so wereally, as a society, have to
learn how to be patient again.
(09:27):
But also we, you know, as aspeople I don't think we're just
naturally good at being patient.
I mean, I know we're not.
There's so much in the Bibleabout patience, so much, and not
just patience.
You know, and you know, likethe scriptures that you quoted
(09:49):
and other scriptures that aretelling you to be patient.
But also you know what Ithought of is do not despise
small beginnings, and ZechariahI believe it's Zechariah 4.10.
So I mean, that's true in allkinds of things, but that
requires patience in your life, and including in homeopathy,
(10:13):
right.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
I wonder.
I see it even in more of thenatural realm.
We even do that right, Like wethink we're better.
I don't like to say it, thatwas bad terminology but we feel
better about our decisionsbecause they're not
pharmaceuticals't like to say it, that was bad terminology but
we feel better about ourdecisions because they're not
pharmaceuticals, which is notuntrue.
But I do think a lot of ourdecisions can still be.
(10:37):
We come to them similarly or weapproach it the same way, when
I even, you know, I'm justobserving and as I go to the
store more over the past fewyears.
On one hand, it's beautifulthing that we're seeing all
these great homeopathiccombinations and remedies, like
they're all coming up for stuff.
But I also do think there issome of that perpetuation of if
(10:59):
we combine a bunch of stuff,we're going to see things work
faster or better, or we're goingto do a bunch of different
things at once because we'regoing to speed up the process.
That I mean, I even do this, soI'm not trying to give our time
, but we we like slow.
As much as we try we slowly fallback into.
(11:20):
It's not gonna hurt, we canjust go a little faster yeah,
well, I've done it too, especially with pain.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
So I would say I'm
probably the biggest baby on
earth with when it comes to pain.
I will not tolerate it, I won't.
I mean, pain is like theabsolute big fat.
No and um.
And so you know I have donethat combined four or five
different remedies too, becauseI was like, no, I cannot do this
pain.
But I will say I am verypatient.
(11:50):
In a cold call flu, I'll takeone remedy and I'll wait.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Well, okay, let me
ask you this because I wonder
like we can still end up at thesame place with two different
hearts.
So, let's say, are you throwingfive remedies at it Cause
you're like I am desperate, which may be like I'm desperate
for this pain to go away, andthese are all the pain ones I
can think of.
Or I know there are times I'vethought through pain or
something and thought, okay, some vitamin does this,
(12:17):
hypericum does this, where youmight still have five, but
they're on purpose, not becauseyou're throwing a cocktail at it
out of anxiety.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Yeah, well, I mean,
just think about my most recent
experience, right, it wasn't outof anxiety that I, that I took
five for probably, I think itwas like five it, um, it was
literally because they were onyou.
They were all really good forthe different.
I mean, it was an ankle, so itwas bone tendon joint, right,
(12:46):
you know all the things that um,and and, and I was a little bit
desperate because it was 10 outof 10 pain.
Um, you know, I was like thisis worse than labor because
there was no break, it didn'tstop, you know.
So, um, I, I see what you'resaying.
So, you know, but with coldcough, flu, I get that a lot
(13:08):
with acute consultations wherethey'll say, um, you know, we're
, we're taking, or I'll tellthem, take HEP or Sulf and
they're like that's it, yep,yeah.
And it's hard if they feel likethey're not doing enough.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
I get it.
Yeah, yeah, it's just so, it's.
It's very, I mean, I can getreally philosophical thinking.
Why do we make the decisions wemake?
And even counseling like Iremember counseling young girls
in high school and or in collegeum, as they're navigating like
(13:45):
dating, and of course I'm on theoutside, like no break up with
him, like what are you eventhinking?
But also my heart was for it towalk them through godly
decision-making and wisdom.
And here's how you can presentthat and here's how you can work
through a decision using theword of God and what God has
already said.
And then what wise people inyour life are saying and um,
(14:07):
because that's what's going tostay as they move forward.
So what if they break up withthe boyfriend but to have no
conviction behind it or nogrowth, or they haven't learned
how to have come to that?
So I see that and I feel like Ihave seen that transformation in
myself with remedies fromrepetition I mean just sitting
in classes for five years likebecoming more and more confident
(14:31):
in how to do that.
It's second nature now to thinkthrough it in a more
clear-minded way to come to agood decision, and it brings a
lot of peace Like I don't havethat anxiety like Like I used to
sometimes with headaches.
Headaches are mine, yeah, likeI.
(14:53):
I haven't probably cause Idon't get.
I didn't get them untilrecently.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
I have a big baby?
I didn't either.
I never had headaches until inmy thirties ever.
I remember my mom, mygrandmother, and I was like
what's?
Speaker 1 (15:07):
wrong with y'all?
I don't do it.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
And then in my
thirties I started getting
headaches and yeah, I meanthat's big fat, I mean it's pain
, you know, but also you can'tthink.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
No, it's.
I don't know how people livewith these.
For you, like I, have so muchmore compassion on people who
have chronic Yep, yeah, sothat's what I wanted to say.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Next was when you're
dealing with the chronic, you
know.
So, really, talking aboutpatients, man, talk about
patients.
So if you look, you know, if Ilook back over my hormone health
and gut health journey, it hasbeen a slow back and forth.
I got really good and because Ihad avoided gluten for so long,
(15:56):
I went a little bit crazy and Iate all the things I had missed
and it was just a bad idea.
I mean, obviously, if you goback to eating the junky stuff,
you're going to get back in thesame situation that you were in
before.
Right, hopefully I didn't getthat bad again.
I mean, it didn't go all theway back.
(16:16):
But yeah, I started havingsymptoms again.
I was like, okay, rein it in.
We need to have, you know, homemade or locally made
sourdough with some real butterand it's going to be good and
I'm not going to have troublewith some healthy choices.
But you know, healing any partof your body that's a chronic
(16:40):
condition absolutely takespatience and everybody comes
into this saying, oh, yeah, yeah, I've got patience and I've had
this for a long time so I canbe patient.
But then once they get into itnot right away.
Most people are patient, butsome people really they think
they're patient but they'rereally not and they let go and
(17:02):
they quit or they change toofast.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Yeah right, yeah,
it's not easy, but I mean I
guess that kind of does go backto some of the other points the
investment pays off.
Celebrate the little stuff, like all that whole process is
worth it and so many things inlife.
I really think, like homeopathyhas just done so many wonderful
(17:26):
things, like this journey intothis world has helped my
perspective on life so much moreand I'm so thankful.
I'm so thankful that thatchallenge is always there.
But then I see it also work andthat's what I mean it keeps me
going.
Like I see it do crazy stuffthat I mean a lot of people are
(17:48):
expecting to never heal from andit's amazing.
So I mean that can even be awhole spiritual thing, right,
like these things we think wecarry and we live with for years
and years and years and you canwalk free of those.
So I mean maybe that's anotherpoint.
I don't know, maybe I get therelater, but that's a whole other
(18:08):
one.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Yeah, um so every
time I do a free 15 minute phone
call, I talk about patients andum, so it's again, it's
something to to cultivate.
And so how do you do that?
How do you if right now youwould say I'm not a patient
(18:32):
person at all, how do you becomepatient?
What does that even look like?
I mean, I had to walk intopatients.
I wasn't always patient.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
I okay, One.
This probably connects toanother point too.
I would say before it is apractice in your life, you
absolutely need a community ofsome type to hold you
accountable to that, to remindyou, because I don't believe
that you can do that well aswell completely on your own.
(19:06):
And also like set up I don'tknow the right term like set up
markers for yourself, like Ithink of committing to.
I'm just as far as homeopathygoes, let's not even talk
spiritual sitting in class overand over and over and over, like
it's not that I'm just going tothe class, but the terminology,
(19:33):
the learning things, when Ifeel like it's you think you
know enough already or I neveram going to understand this.
I remember feeling that way, like I just never going to feel
totally confident.
I would just do the thing youjust commit to.
I would just do the thing youjust commit to continuing to put
yourself in positions whereyou're learning, where you're
(19:53):
hearing the things again, andthen have people, if one or two,
I mean I had you, you wereliterally the only one who was
regularly in my life usinghomeopathy, who would just
remind me all the time the samewords and, like you know, feel
with me you can relate to.
Yeah, this is not easy, andstill be patient, do it.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
So that's a really
good point, that to be gentle
with yourself, Okay.
So think about if your friendor your family member, um, or
somebody at church or you know,uh, um, a neighbor, were to be
trying to learn something andthey messed up or they made a
(20:42):
mistake or they went backwardsor you know, they just didn't.
They didn't do it well whilethey were learning.
And so if you, you think aboutwhat you would say to them.
You would encourage them oh,it's okay, Keep going, you can.
You know what it's, you know, whatever, whatever you, the way
you encourage people, encourageyourself that way too.
Don't beat yourself up.
(21:03):
That gets you nowhere.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Yeah, that's really
good.
And I, I think of you.
I look at just what I know ofyour life.
Um, you are really good at thechoice.
Like I'm going to choosepatience, that's true.
I'm going to choose joy, I'mgoing to choose whatever.
And I, I mean, I sit here likeI hope one day.
(21:27):
I'm good at choosing, like likemaybe it just comes with time
and wisdom, but I it doesencourage me, so thank you for
that.
Maybe you have other people inyour life who are better at it
than you, who you can you knowbe encouraged by that.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yeah, I think, um, I
think I just learned the hard
way that not choosing orchoosing the opposite was
getting me nowhere.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
It doesn't make you
go faster or better.
You just can do it reallyimpatiently or do it patiently
and end up in the same place, right?
Speaker 2 (22:02):
You get tired of
feeling the way you feel and you
do something about it.
Yeah, love it.
Great conversation, yeah, thisis so good.
Patience is just high on on myencouragement list that I like
to encourage people in.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Yeah, I mean, you are
very good at it, so it's
impacted me.
Um, and I know you.
You do talk about that a lot indifferent courses that you
teach.
Just that reminder in life andin homeopathy.
We have three or four morepoints that we'll cover over
(22:38):
time.
So stick around, we'll keepgoing.
We might get a little.
No, I don't think they're goingto get too repetitive, we'll
just keep building on thosethings.
Thank you for letting me sharethese.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Thank you for sharing
and you guys, I hope you'll
come to the next retreat.
Have a great night.
