Today’s podcast is a joint interview with Carol Hasse (“Hasse”) of Port Townsend Sails and Barb Trailer of the Northwest Maritime Center in Port Townsend, WA. Hasse moved to Port Townsend in 1977 and started her sailmaking business in 1978.
She was part of a small group of enthusiasts who were instrumental in planning and starting the very first Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival in 1977. Hasse discusses how the festival got its start, who was involved, and why it is such a special event year after year after year. Barb Trailer has been co- director (along with Carrie Andrews) of the PT Festival since 2011 and has logged many miles at sea on vessels such as WN Ragland , a 101’ wooden Baltic Trader; Sea Angel, a 88‘ ketch; and MY Evviva, a 160’ power boat. During the interview, Barb discusses some of her favorite memories at the Festival and what to expect at this year’s Wooden Boat Festival on September 5-7, 2014.

Intentionally Disturbing
Join me on this podcast as I navigate the murky waters of human behavior, current events, and personal anecdotes through in-depth interviews with incredible people—all served with a generous helping of sarcasm and satire. After years as a forensic and clinical psychologist, I offer a unique interview style and a low tolerance for bullshit, quickly steering conversations toward depth and darkness. I honor the seriousness while also appreciating wit. I’m your guide through the twisted labyrinth of the human psyche, armed with dark humor and biting wit.
