Speaker 1 (00:31):
What up, everybody? Welcome back to another episode of hopskeeek News.
You're home for comic books, movies, TV shows and typically
we do feature a beer of the week. I'm Matt
with me as always is Lauren. Today we are just
going to talk about a special episode on Ironheart. The
show is wrapped up, we haven't really talked about it.
We want to give it its due moment to shine,
and so that's what we're going to talk about. Say
spoilers ahead. We are talking about that, So go ahead, like, subscribe, share,
(00:52):
follow on hopskeeek News, any social media, any podcasting platform,
help us grow, help the algorithm, all of that good stuff,
YouTube threads, all that good jazz, Patreon, dot com, slash
hop speak news where you can find us. And we
are up in here, Lauren. I'm not drinking. I'm Superman.
(01:14):
So did you just pour something?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
I did finish full glass of a burial. So these
will be full spoilers for iron Heart. So if you
haven't seen it yet, leave immediately. But I have it
in my sidewards little demon looking glass, and I thought
this looked beer looked a little demony, because we know
(01:37):
we're we're selling souls in this show Man.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
We are selling souls.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
We go go to the crossroads, the devil will find you.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
No, we're not talking supernatural. See, I'm I'm sleepy today,
so I didn't get a second beer because I'm already
not ready to go to sleep. So but this show Man,
I do want to talk about. It was six episodes.
We've waited it. It's been filmed, you know for a while.
It's it's Dominie Thorne as re read She's back from
Wakanda Forever. You know Anthony Ramos is Parker Robbins, you
might know him from Hamilton. Lyric Ross plays Natalie, Matthew
(02:09):
Elam plays Xavier, Angie White is Ronnie, and then you
know Alden Einrich plays Stayin who I love that. Eric
Andre even makes a surprise appearance. But Sonya Denny is clown.
Jaren Merrill, who you might know from RuPaul drag Race
is Slug, who is an actual comic book character. But
in the comic book Slug is basically the name a
(02:31):
giant fat slug, so very different look in this show. Yes,
Slug is an actual comic book character, and Slug is
a very gross, grotesque being. So it was really cool
seeing how they brought this together so off the rip.
I liked this show. I really did. I wasn't sure
what to expect, but I knew Ryan Coogler was you know,
(02:53):
involved in some shape or form because he did Wakanda Forever.
I liked reread in Wakanda Forever. And this has been,
you know, in the works for a while, and honestly,
I six episodes, I was fine getting more by the
time it was all said and done. I was really
excited for this to see where it went. I want
to get some of his fresh faces in Man and
my fresh you know spoiler, you know my initial thoughts
(03:16):
on the show. I should say, well that this is
a It's got a lot of themes in it. It's
got a lot of heavy tones to it because she
loses her best friend to a drive by and her
stepdad Gary, you know, Natalie and Gary died in a
drive by shooting. She's had to deal with that, she
gets expelled from MIT, She's gone through a lot. She's
from the you know, she's broke. She's from Chicago and
(03:38):
not a glamorous side of Chicago. And so it has
a lot of these tones and it's not nice. I
don't want to say the term nice, but we're going
back to when superheroes struggled again because I think the
MCU has grown to a point where superheroes don't necessarily struggle.
I mean, for as much as I liked Brave New World,
Captain America didn't really struggle with Read can't.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Even see he struggled his outfits.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
But he doesn't struggle because did you see the ladies?
That man pretty well?
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Uh yeah, the last girl was a m.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Struggle time, you know, yeah, obviously, but Matt Murdoch, he's
a pan all right, That mad don't struggle.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
He does not skipped Heather.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
He could have skipped Heather, but yeah, no, it was.
It's really good to kind of see them dialed back.
So what were your what are your We watched the
first three episodes together, two episodes, three episodes. Uh, when
we were in Asheville together. That was pretty sweet. You know,
we got to watch a MTU show together and we've
all that good stuff. But what were your initial thoughts
as you finished the series or season?
Speaker 2 (04:40):
I should say I very much so enjoyed it. I
think my main reaction was I was surprised how much
it surprised me, Like I never really fully knew where
the show was going. Obviously we had our rumors, but
we hear rumors every time. With Mephisto, we had heard
and had been cast, yes, but I didn't know how
they were going to do that. And honestly, at the end,
(05:03):
I was shocked with her decision. I thought it was
going to be your typical superhero.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
We got Fisto in this show of all things.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Solo like very meanly calls her a selfish child, and
at the end of the day, the decision she made
was a very selfish young child.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Run his life. Man. You know he was Joe.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Because he understood I love I Love the Obadiah, same thing.
But like, if he had killed her, I would have
been like, Okay, this is no Well obviously he wasn't
going to kill her, but but I he kept his humanity, like,
yes he was angry, He's allowed to be angry, Like, yes,
they you know everything he's worked for whatever. But again,
the show just continued to surprise me.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
So yeah, it really did. It kept it I really enjoyed.
Initially because I there were rumors. I think it even
came out that al Ninrich would be playing Zeke's stance,
but I forgot all about that Joe, you know, And
I love the live laugh love signs all over the
place was hilarious.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
One on his.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
It was amazing. I loved that because even when they
went to the secret Bunker, they had the Neon sign
of it, the doormat the sign behind him. I thought
that was amazing. And not for nothing, I really liked
their friendship. The chemistry that Dominique Thorne and Alden Einrich
had together in their screen time. I thought it was excellent.
And he was a dude, not for his his dad.
He knew the truth about his father, but they the
(06:36):
world at large did not know that Obadiah Stein tried
to kill Tony Stark and do all of that stuff.
So to them, he was killed, you know, he died
for X Y and Z. Nobody knew the truth and
so he kind of hit who he was. Yeah, he did,
And so to me that was it was a really
good layer there. And then when go ahead, So how
(07:00):
much do you.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Think though Obadiah Stein's death was covered to protect his
family and how much was covered to protect Tony Stark?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
And I truly think they covered his death more to
cover her Stark Industries. Okay, I don't think because Tony's selfish,
let's be honest, Especially Tony Stark after iron Man one.
Look at his character development through iron Man two and three.
How selfish he is. I mean he says, you know,
come and find me to the terrorists, right and iron
(07:29):
Man three.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
PTSD and stuff, and he had a good part. He
was still.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Selfish right at the end of the day. He's still selfish.
He doesn't think about anybody else. So I don't think
he was thinking about because if he was thinking about
that family, he would have I'm sure they would have
tied it. Maybe he would have visited him or talked
about them at some point, but he never did. And
so I think it was one hundred percent to protect
Stark Industries had to have been.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yes, so actly. No, I mean we went all the
way back to two thousand and eight.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Did that was? It was a way to connect the
m considering this was the end of phase five, it
was fun way to connect it with the beginning of
Phase one, which kicked everything off.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Comments how he's thirty eight now, which means when that happened,
like he was eighteen, younger than rear.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Yeah, oh no, he wasn't he was a little older
because he wasn't twenty quite twenty years yeah, two and eight, No,
but Rear.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Was nineteen and Waconda forever, So I got to assume
she's a little.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
They're right, they were probably you know which, You're right,
they are, They're very much And I love the Uh,
who's this middle aged man? Who's I'm thirty six? He
said he was thirty six? He said thirty six, so
oh yeah, okay, so he was he was twenty years
a year nil.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
I was middle aged till we started this podcast and
you start talking about middle aged white woman, and I'm
like doing math and mic phone.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
I'm middle age. Every middle aged white dude gets a
freaking microphone, gets a podcast, and then every middle aged
person goes and starts running long distances, and guess who
runs long distances?
Speaker 2 (08:55):
I do so, But see, I'm so old now I've
passed that middle age and I stopped running in my
stopped hurting. So I don't know if that makes you feel,
but to be.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Fair, I'm very much an old soul because I go
to bed wicked early and you stay up forever.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
So that's true. But I just got bifocals.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
That's true. You you can't uh without your glasses, you
can't hear. So you know you took that picture without
your glasses. It was always blurry, you know. Yeah, dude,
he was because you know it's the khakis. That was
a fun bit. I love that she made when he
(09:33):
was in jail. That was that was cold man.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
But she didn't. She was genuinely trying to like break
the tension.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
I and also let's talk about how she killed, you know,
his cousin.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
She did not kill him.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Okay, she didn't kill him. He was trying to kill her.
She she batmanned him. I'm not going to kill you,
but I don't have to save you. She batman's ass.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
There's no way she could have survived if she had
saved him, and she made an intentional effort to save
other people. I so, again, this is a child, this
is somebody who is my daughter's age. So I'm going
to obviously look at it with skewed glasses. But she know,
but look at it with vocals. But she is she's young,
(10:23):
she's naive, she doesn't she has a lot of life
experience with her trauma. Yes, but she's still very young,
and I loved her mom in this.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
My mom was very A lot of patients, God, a
lot of patience.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Is a fantastic mom with a fantastic wardrobe. However, they
changed her outfit one too many times where I was like,
how many days have they been working in this garage?
Or does she just change outfits every three hours?
Speaker 1 (10:45):
She's like my daughter then, who changes outfits every three hours? I,
for yell, used to do that. She trives me nuts.
Why is there so much laundry? You have worn nothing?
Speaker 2 (10:54):
They were seventeen outfits in one week, but she looked
every outfit. It was fantastic, And I like child and
her decisions are brought into that that she is still
a child. Yes, Savior was great, but I felt like,
is he living in his mom's basement? Is he on
his own?
Speaker 1 (11:11):
I don't know what he's doing, But that's Natalie's brother,
and not to you know, suddenly take a left turn
into a different character. But I liked them together. They
had a lot of chemistry together as well. And you know,
he made that mixtape and she expected when she inadvertently
fell asleep, you know, and Natalie downloaded from her consciousness
and everything that he would understand. But he reacted in
(11:32):
a very visceral way, and I can't say that I'll
blame him on that.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Way either, context behind it at all.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
AI is freaky enough. And then let alone Ai, that's
your dead sister. Mm hmm, that is pretty crazy.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
I will say that was the one part that I, uh,
you expected to happen. She even said like he's going
to get upset and like there wasn't context behind it.
So that was a CW moment of like good though I.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Will say there wasn't a whole lot of that drawn
out drama of course her six episodes. You can't draw
it out for however long that CW or things would have, right,
And so I liked that and they move past it,
and I love the family aspect of everybody came together
to help build that suit, which brings me to Zelma. Now,
Zelma is you know, a very powerful sorceress if you will.
(12:18):
She gets brain maggots and the comic books, and she
goes to see Doctor Strange and they go on fun
strange adventures together and she becomes really powerful, and you know,
I'm wondering if that's going to lead into a Strange
Academy because I much prefer the magic side of the
Marvel cinematic universe to this multiverse mess I will say
(12:41):
that interesting, And so I do hope we get her
with doctor Strange. You know, I loved her. What did
you think of the way they showcase her powers? Because,
for one, when they go to visit her in the shop,
I love how they turned upside down and different things
that they even alluded to the brain maggot it's and
she because she loosely mentions it and then her mom
(13:03):
tells her to shut up and things like that. So
what do you think about Zelma?
Speaker 2 (13:07):
I actually really liked how they portrayed her. Obviously, I
think of Thelma, you go straight to Scooby Doo. Yeah, yes,
and everything. But I liked that they made her young,
so she was still learning things. You know, she was
fifty seven whatever percent sure that it was dorm mum. Obviously.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Do you love that they kept thinking it was dormamu.
I do like that because that's a call back to
you know, doctor Strange one.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Well and then thinking it was you know, or mentioning
she had learned things from TikTok witches and then she
mentions the sanctum, and so there was a lot of
callbacks to different things, so I thought, yeah, it was
really cool. And I actually this morning I watched Megan
from Vigilante Vibe a little short on YouTube about Helma
because I really didn't know anything about the brain maggets
or any of her comic origin. So I thought that
(13:48):
was a great little video on her. And I know
you had obviously done research on her before, but I hadn't,
so I thought that that was very interesting. And I
liked how the mom shut it down too, because I
feel like so often in these stories parents are just
like whatever, me getting prosecuted for child in dangerment, I'm
kind of okay with that, like, come.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
On, dude, they be wrong in that case exactly.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
So to see the mom being like, we're stopping this,
and then at one point I'm seeing Rey's mom, and
I'm like, Reuy's mom's friends with her mom and her
mom's night here, but she's doing whatever she can to
protect her daughter.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
So it was but she even got mad that you
left all this important information out. You took me to
my friend's place, and this is the ship you pull,
and so she justifiably got upset. Yeah, and it but
at the end of the day, she did help her,
So she she had that both sides. You know, she potentially.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Endangered this other child though to protect her.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Child, right exactly. And so there was that very real
moment of that which I thought was cool, you know.
And then going to Mephisto. So I actually, before we
get to Mephisto, I initially liked the aspect of this
heist crew. I liked everybody's the hight crew. I thought
that it was fun. You know, I love a good high,
and you don't feel the same, Like, what are your thoughts?
Speaker 2 (15:04):
So for one I thought was that John was the
guy that died. Yes, I don't think he was a
great actor. I did not like him. I don't know
if he was trying too hard or what it was. Maybe,
I mean, I know he was supposed to rub me
the wrong way, but I don't know if it was. Yeah,
you're not supposed to like him, I know that, but
I still I don't know what. There was something just
with that guy Parker I thought did a great job.
(15:25):
I was driving me. Not how I knew him until
I looked it up. He's from Hamilton.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Yeah it was.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Yeah, yeah, I think we figured that out when we
were recording. Actually we might have.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Actually, you're right, it was we're recording.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
We were together. I figured it out.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
No, we were watching the show together. That's why, because
I was you were sitting there, because we were trying
to figure out because we're at the cabin and we
were trying to figure out where we saw him. And
so I looked up and I was like, oh, he's
in Hamilton or whatever, and I knew that's one you
had seen and I hadn't. But I knew him from Transformers,
which is how I knew him. But you kne him
from Hamilton.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Yes, yeah, because I shut off Transformers halfway through that Marky.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Mark It wasn't one though, it was.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
It was the one with the dinosaurs.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
No, it was the newer one.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
No, I never after Bumblebee, and I did watch Bumblebee.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
It was the one after Bumblebee.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
There was one after Bumblebee.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yes, it was good.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
I have the first one on DVD. Okay, so the crew.
I liked the crew at first, but I didn't like
how quickly they turned on re Read with zero explanation.
I thought that was too much. And then when they
when the one girl came back after she saw that, yeah,
Hans so yeah, when clown saw that, Han Solo did
not kill re Re and she was okay with that.
(16:37):
I was like, okay, I'm respecting her a little more.
But they were so adamant and just ready to just
straight up kill her.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
They were ready to cold blood and murder her, especially
the Australian twins there, uh, which she held her own
pretty well in that fight. First of all, she did
a great job.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
I love a surprised or like, wait, you killed whatever
the other guys was, Yeah, that does stand kill John?
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Oh oh Rampage.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Yeah, y'all are so attached to Rampage. You're all pissed
at him and you're going to turn on him for
murdering him. But you were like straight to blood with Rear,
a burger, a.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
White Castle, and that was you're right, because they did.
And I guess it was that that loyalty. They didn't
really know re reversus you know, having worked together and
these other jobs.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
For young and you're just going to show up.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
It's a gang mentality though, you know, in gangs, that's
how it goes. That's why I guess they didn't seem.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
That emotionally unintelligent to me to where then all of
them are just snapping and ready to I do get that.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
I don't disagree with that at all.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Maybe I will say the benefit of the doubt is
maybe there was something with Mephisto somehow, being like, I'm
you sold your soul to have this control, so you
have like this hipno over them.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Maybe okay. But also that Parker's defense his dad was
an a hole who kicked him out.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Oh my god, I saw that coming beforehand. But part
of it was because they cast that dad so perfect
it looked like it could be his death.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
It literally did. Yeah, and then he goes works out
like that sold me out at twelve years old or
whatever it was, and which that's a child. Listen, he
had a point. Okay, I don't think he was going
there at all, going and getting his However, Mephisto, let's
talk pizza. Mephisto is a lover of pizza.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Man, He's like death.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
I say, yes, it makes me think of death. He
loves food. And I thought Sasha Baron Cohen did a
really good job. I like the way they changed his
voice and then in the reflection, it's these little details,
like I said, is the red and he gives him
the hood and he, you know, I'll give you whatever
basically with his hood. And then things got out of
(18:50):
control and he says the deal was the deal man.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
I mean he's taken advantage. You look at Parker and
re Read. These are both kids who got shit, who
have trauma. Yeah, taken advantage of.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
It, which you know. At the end, Rere essentially makes
the deal to bring Natalie back, and which I I
can't blame her.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Though at no point does he say you're selling your soul.
He says, you're selling something you won't.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Miss, which that's right, which we think it's soul. But
I'm wondering if it's something else that we just don't's.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Got to be sold because a soul, Once a soul
is gone, you're not going to miss it. Maybe that's
just my supernatural brain going into the world.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
I think the same thing, but it's you know, you
never until they explicitly say it, it could be anything.
I do think it's sole. It's I'm pretty sure it's
implied soul, but that brings up that makes me think.
I wonder, then is Mephisto If we do finally get
a Champions, finally get a Young Avengers, is Mephisto going
to be the big bad that they have to face off.
(19:50):
It's re re realizing she can't fight Mephisto because she
made a mistake on her own, you know, needing to
go in form this crew, which she gets Zelma who's
the magical side. Maybe she brings in Kate Bishop, you know,
America Chavez because we still got them out there. I
wonder if they come together to fight Mefisto in some
(20:11):
way or something like that, Like what if at this
point maybe we did get that, and what if Miles
Morales is introduced even and now he can kind of
get in this Young Avengers. Who knows?
Speaker 2 (20:22):
That'd be awesome if Miles Morales on my pants maybe
it's a song.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Yeah, it would be cool. Because a lot of people
were essentially there's no need for Mephisto. Why would they
do it in there? It's because I think it's setting
up something bigger.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Obviously, yes, and people being like, oh, this is what
you're going to introduce him, and you mother efforts because
that was the whole thing you wanted it to be
a surprise surprise to quote Doakes, Yeah, yeah, And I
thought this was fantastic because I did not expect it.
I thought it was going to be all tech, and
now you're bringing in magic.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
You bring magic, but.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Magic and she Hulk and Doctor Strange and Wanda and
and we.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Thought Mesta was going to be in you know, WandaVision.
We thought Mephisto was going to be a multi versus madness.
Mephisto finally shows up and everybody's no, not like that
on Iron. That's good storytelling, first of all, that's really
good storytelling, you stupid heads. Yes, I'm ten years old again.
But we're never happy. I swear to god. People are
(21:22):
never happy.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
You can every happy.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
But I liked it, man, I did, and I really
can't wait to see where it goes. I hope we
either get a season two or they need to just
pull the trigger on a freaking young Avengers or Champion
storyline already, because they're not bringing America Chaves and all in,
Kate Bishop and them. They're not going to go fight
Doctor Doran. You're just sitting on these characters.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
Disney Destiny. I know there's some Mickey boat that has
like some of the young I'm gonna have to look
it up.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
I don't remember.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
I have to look at you know what I'm talking
about that.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
Yeah, yeah, but like Yolena, she's could be the leader
of I don't know, because again they're they're not going
to go off and they're not going to fight doctor Doom.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
There.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
I come on, they're too young and inexperienced. And also
there's no mentorship either right now in the MCU. So
I think that's really interesting. So it'd be cool to
have if you get a Hawkeye too. Maybe Hawkeye is
the mentor to these young Avengers.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
H I don't. Oh my god, La caning.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Well, they're trying to work out a deal. They they
low bald, old dude.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
They're oh they low bald yeah Clinton.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Yeah, but they're talking, well, you're going to pay me.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
They offered him like half. I did not read the
full article. I did not back to me just as
soon as they sit yeh headlines. Yeah, so take this
with a grain of salt. But they had offered him
season two of Hawkeye at half the pay, and he goes,
what because I got injured, I'm worth half now?
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Yeah, don't. I don't disagree. The guy's been around since
thor dude, Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Was before Avenger, you know, twenty eleven kids.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
He's been around the longest. And I think you'd be
a perfect mentor to these. And then again, Laura Kenny's around.
We have this Fox universe now that could multiverse travel.
The TVA just needs to Why not bring her into
the Young Avengers. You know.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
That she is completely underutilized.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
I think Keen is amazing, she really is.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
So yeah, you got a great casting, and she's familiar,
and it's consistent and what they're doing in the commic
shelt is doing in the comic book, Flora Kenny, it's phenomenal.
Start calling Bucky the revolution. He's not the Winter Soldier,
He's not brainwashed anymore.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Again, like I also liked in this there was no
world ending stakes for once. It was very small contained,
so it felt refreshing in that regard that it wasn't
the whole world's at stake. It was no, dude, her
whole world. And I really liked the armor, the way
she used the magic with the armor in the apartment
up there and there their fight, that was really sick
(23:54):
that those graphics were dope I thought the graphics in this,
the CGI and everything was the effects were really well
done in this show. But it felt nice to take
a step back and have it be a small low
steaks all things considered in the Marvel cinematic universe for
once happening to you. Yeah, but compared to Century, you know,
(24:14):
vanishing all of New York City, this was, you know,
really low stakes Marvel, which was nice, and it was
kind of a refreshing take, I think, which is why
I liked it a lot.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Didn't hypnotize the whole town for months.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
No, No, So overall, I really liked the show. I
wanted season two, I want more. I like, I love
Reevey Williams also Ryan Coogler. Just give that man Blade
already as well. Lauren will get it after she watches
Sinners finally, but you know, give that man Blade, give
him everything.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
My only hesitation ever with Blade happening was that he's
he's a snake Marshal.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Lee ye oh yeah, yeah, No, I I don't think.
I think that's because they sold off the Sinners. A
lot of their clothes were from the Blade, were made
for Blade, and.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
They said it was true, but I heard it.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Which I I'm you know, that's a whole other thing.
But I do want more. I need more.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
I liked it Ryan Coogler supposed to do Blade.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
No, no, I just Ryan Coogler could turn water to wine.
He's he's basically a cinematic Jesus with the things that
he does with cinema. So all in all, I liked it. Lauren,
safe to say that you also enjoyed it. Do you
have any final thoughts?
Speaker 2 (25:29):
I did my final thoughts where I felt this This
show was very grounded. I know it was very magical,
but it was very grounded. They focused on how like
she can't be iron Man without the funds, which is
very very much so relevant in everyday life. Lack of resources. Yeah,
that's going to make her break you at times. I
love that they pulled her out bullshit immediately at MIT
(25:51):
with like nobody's asking you to be small. I thought
that was fantastic. I feel like she is her own
worst enemy, but she had a lot of yeah one hundred.
I love that they mentioned shurry, they did not ignore that. Yeah,
very clear, Like what am I supposed to do? Call
her and say this? Those were fantastic points, like Surrey
is a Princess Kanda. She's not her b'.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Got time for this. She doesn't care to that level.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
You know, yes, I and I, but I love they
acknowledged it because so often they ignore those things. But
I think they did a great job of mixing science
with magic, agreed, combining whole bunch of different things from
the SCU and uh, you know, introducing Mephisto, and that
Mephisto is taking advantage of younger kids that are major creaky.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
And really smart storytelling.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Man.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Yes, he's not going to go after Wanda, who's powerful witch.
He's going to go in there and go for the uninitiated,
the naive, the stupid, the immature, all of those things.
It makes sense. He's the freaking devil. Man, I'm the devil.
I love Metal. Thanks you quote like Mephisto very nice,
(27:02):
very nice when she says, oh, let's make this deal.
Very nice.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
