Megan Huntsman's Infant Murders

Megan Huntsman, a Utah mother, was involved in a gruesome case of hidden pregnancies and secret infant murders. Over the course of a decade, starting in 1996, Huntsman gave birth to and killed six of her newborn babies. She would typically kill the infants immediately after birth by choking or smothering them, and then store their bodies in plastic-wrapped containers in her garage, which she converted into a makeshift mausoleum. Huntsman managed to hide her pregnancies from relatives and neighbors, who only noticed a slight weight gain. At the time of her arrest in 2014, she had three living daughters, two born before the killing spree began and one born during it. Huntsman claimed she was under the influence of methamphetamine and unable to care for the babies. The bodies were discovered by her estranged husband's relatives while searching the garage. Huntsman pleaded guilty to six counts of first-degree murder and was sentenced to six life sentences, three of which are consecutive. She is currently serving her sentence in a Utah State Correctional Facility and will be eligible for parole in 2064 when she will be 89 years old.
