Holy Sexuality 1: Why Sexuality? Why Now?

Welcome to the Hour in the Word Podcast, a ministry of Village church of Lincolnshire.

I’m Casey Dwyer, one of the pastors at Village Church, and I’m thrilled to bring you this new podcast we’re calling the Hour in the Word Podcast. This podcast takes our weekly lessons during our Bible study time, calledHour in the Word, and distills them down for you to enjoy while you’re eating your lunch, working out, talking a walk, driving to work, or whatever else you might do throughout the week when you want to be encouraged, challenged, and energized to live out God’s Word in your everyday life. We tackle tough topics from a Christian perspective, and we take the Bible seriously as God’s wisdom for us in every sphere of our lives.

To start us off we’ve got for you today the first lesson in our new series called Holy Sexuality: living as Creatures in God’s World. I’m so excited for you to hear this engaging conversation between myself and Bryan Just, one of our pastor/elders at Village Church, a great friend of mine. Bryan and I are bringing you this series because we want you to catch a glimpse of the exciting, exhilarating truth in the Bible that sexuality is sacred, that it’s a holy thing. Often times Christians are thought of as prudes and hypocrites when it comes to sex, but when we look at the Bible we see that God’s design and promise for sexuality is more intricate, holy, and spectacular than we can imagine. Today we start off by talking about why we need to talk about this important part of life, and how our perspective as followers of Jesus differs from those around us about sex and sexual matters.

To fill you in, this podcast is a recording of a live lesson at Village Church on Sunday morning. Because of this, at points you’ll hear Bryan and I respond to people in the audience, but we’ve cut their responses for their privacy.
