(00:00):
Let them come.
(00:03):
This is their fate.
Get my bird man hands in there.
All right.
All right.
Welcome back to the House of Wolves podcast.
I am your host Deontay here with my near and dear friends Jalen and Josh.
(00:24):
Today we got quite to talk about.
We had some unfortunate sicknesses over the last week, so we couldn't get together to
speak to you guys.
But we are back.
We are in full effect and we got more and more topics to discuss.
So thank you for tuning in.
But before we get started, per usual Jalen, Josh, tell the people how you been, what you've
(00:51):
been up to, what you've been doing, how's life going, what you've been playing.
Any updates that need to be said?
Talk to the people.
Yeah, I've been.
Well I was sick for a bit a couple days ago and I don't know if it was just the influenza,
(01:16):
whatever it was, it hit hard and quick.
So I was out of work for a couple days just feeling real bad and around that same time
my daughter had got sick as well.
I think she actually got sick first.
You know kids it can happen like suddenly and they eat and just grow up.
(01:36):
It was like what's wrong with you?
So yeah, we were both I guess back to back sick.
So that was about a whole week for us.
And then after I got better, she got like a little fever again.
It wasn't like any strong symptoms, but she had a fever for like another two or three
(01:58):
days.
So she stayed out of school and my wife took care of her and I went back to work.
So yeah, for the last two weeks, we mostly been spending it sick.
And unfortunately when I was sick, I was getting headaches or migraines, I don't know.
So I didn't do a whole lot.
(02:21):
I mean I was bored so I played some games, I watched some TV a little bit, but it was
in shorter spurts because I just wasn't feeling it.
What we end up doing with the little time that I was up, I finished Agatha all along
and actually enjoyed it.
(02:42):
It was a pretty decent show.
It leans.
It's still like a Marvel show, but it leans more towards the horror stuff.
And what I will say is I like that they didn't, I don't feel like they copped out on any stakes.
Like if they said something would happen if you didn't do this and it happened and it
(03:06):
was real.
But that was good to see because a lot of Marvel stuff, there's not a lot of stakes.
They fight against Ultron and everybody wins, everybody good.
Even Thanos, like most people came out clean, except for one or two exceptions.
But yeah, I'm happy that they were able to set up some stakes and it was real that made
(03:30):
the show feel more significant.
Not for long term stuff, but just the stuff that happened in the show.
I appreciate it.
Yeah, and that being said, after Agatha, I was going to start Arkane, but I haven't actually
had the time to sit down with the wife to do it because also the issue is we want to
(03:53):
sit down and watch TV and Mira wants to jump and scream and stuff like that.
So we got to put her to bed first, but then it's hard to put her to bed at a decent time
where we still feel like, OK, now are we going to sit and watch an hour long TV show?
Even though Arkane is shorter, I think it's still like, you know, TV time is cut out because
(04:16):
we tired.
Don't worry, it's worse.
But go ahead.
Yeah.
And as far as any other games, didn't play much new, put a little bit of time in the
metaphor.
I'm still pretty early, just taking my time with that.
(04:36):
I'm enjoying it.
But it also being an Atlas game, I know it's going to be super long.
Yeah, just messed around on a couple of free to play games, did my dailies.
It was a funny.
I guess feeling that I had because I start playing what's the game Vampire Survivors?
(05:01):
Like I already know I already had the game like from two years ago on Steam, but I never
booted it up.
And I played it.
It was fun.
I can see like how people could really get into it.
I was like, I like it and it's fun.
I'm unlocking new characters and stuff like that, but I'm not in love with it.
(05:21):
So I was like, let me try something else.
I tried a couple of other games.
But what I end up finding out is that I know that there was a game I played a long time
ago as a kid, they gave him the same feeling as Vampire Survivors.
And that was Samurai Warriors, aka Dynasty Warriors.
It was like, oh, that's why people play these games all the time.
(05:42):
Because just like Vampire Survivors, you literally you just want to hit something and see the
number go up and unlock stuff.
And so I was playing Samurai Warriors too.
It was like, oh, yeah, I remember playing this in middle school with my brothers and
it was fun.
And it literally has no meaning or depth to it, but we just played it all the time.
(06:06):
But I guess I can appreciate those games for what they are, but then they come out with
like a new one every year and throw a new skin on it and charge full price.
Then it becomes a problem.
Whereas like Vampire Survivors is what?
Four dollars.
Four dollars.
Yep.
(06:27):
Yeah.
I think that's the similar scope to Hades, but a little bit different.
Vampire Survivors is kind of like it has like this this almost casino effect of like winning
and getting additional hits and being able to be more powerful and run around and just
break stuff.
(06:47):
But it's like a constant thing.
Well, the Hades is a little bit different, but the premise is the same where you kind
of go in, get loot, get better, rinse and repeat.
So yeah, I actually jumped into the Hades again and started beating that up not too
(07:07):
long ago and well over the last couple of days to just playing out on the side when
I when I feel like it.
And that's been good.
So definitely in the same boat of just trying to find a game that's small, but can make
some you can make some progress in short bursts.
(07:28):
But that I don't know if it would be that big of a game because like, is those games
pretty run pretty steadily or do we have Dynasty Warrior games on PC?
Yeah, I think they've been out for a couple of games now.
But like, I don't I don't know, like what they do with the series.
(07:50):
Like some of them, they say like, oh, they got strategy elements so you can build bases
or something like that.
I don't know anything about any of the new ones, but they do come out on PC nowadays.
I know that Samurai Warriors five and at least two Dynasty Warriors.
But they also now they got like 100 pages of DLC whenever you look at those games on
Steam.
So I don't even bother with them.
(08:14):
Like I rather just the PS2 version with 50 characters and everything in the game.
Like I'm not buying DLC for Nobunaga or Lubu.
Gotcha.
Yeah, I was more so trying to figure out if they run well on Steam Deck just to play one
and see if it's like, you know, something I'm interested in.
(08:37):
Because they do seem pretty cheap.
I'm looking at one right now, Extreme Legends, Dynasty Warriors, whatever.
And it's not that bad of a price.
You know, maybe something to pick up or maybe Humble Bundle.
Give it to me for free one of these days.
But yeah, that's that's cool.
(08:57):
Cool.
So did you enjoy your time with the Samurai?
Yeah, that one was cool.
I like that one just because like I've never been into Dynasty Warriors because I don't
know anything about Chinese history.
So like I can get it where it's like these these people are fighting, but they're supposed
to be like kind of a reference in real events and stuff that I don't know about.
(09:21):
Whereas like Samurai Warriors, I know more about samurai or like Japanese history.
So I at least recognize like, oh, they're fighting in Osaka Castle right now.
Like I know where Osaka Castle is.
I know who Nobunaga is.
So I like that one.
And plus, I guess back in the PS2 ones, they were more simple.
(09:43):
So like you still have like flashy moves and stuff like that.
But it was more simple, simple and not grounded.
But it felt more like real history, just like I guess spiced up.
Whereas like as they go on, you know, people got they get throwing dragons at each other.
So I guess that's just my impression where it just started getting crazy.
(10:07):
Which one are you playing?
Three, you said, right?
I was playing Samurai Warriors two.
Oh, two.
OK, gotcha, gotcha.
OK.
All right.
Well, I mean, that's interesting.
That's interesting.
For sure.
For sure.
Anything else before we pass it over to Jalen?
Take it away.
(10:29):
JBZ talk to the people.
Oh, I shall take it.
No, just why?
How much money you spend on that Pokemon card game?
Oh, my goodness.
You're playing Pokemon?
How good are you?
I still haven't played that game.
I should have lowkey downloaded it for just to see what the mode is for.
(10:50):
And just do something different.
I played a mobile game a little bit of time, actually.
But no, I haven't.
I ain't been doing much per usual.
I'm just working, trying to work out.
I've been kind of slacking in the gym for a little bit of time.
So I've been trying to get back to that and then trying to do like some running and stuff
like that.
I lowkey, I still haven't played that game.
(11:11):
I probably told you all that.
I ain't hooked in a minute.
I still ain't hooked.
So it's been an even longer minute.
So I was like, you know, I think next week I'm going to try to get back into the gym
and try to get some consistency going with what I'm doing.
Especially with the winter coming.
And then I got my AK coming up too.
And I'm going to fly to Dallas to go do.
So that's the weekend.
(11:33):
I like the 14th.
So catch me doing that.
Stay tuned.
Not just fly.
But so other than that, I feel like it was something else going on with my life.
But I can't really think of anything that caught in my head right now.
Gaming wise, I mean, it's still the same.
I've been playing Call of Duty.
(11:55):
I've been working on that.
That's C9.
You better get y'all one.
Still be on the Call of Duty.
I was trying to do the Easter egg with the 101 of the zombies maps.
But I was playing my boy and y'all can probably empathize with him.
He's like, I got to change my daughter diaper.
It ain't working in zombies, man.
I'm working like, that's it, bro.
(12:17):
I'm like, thanks for wasting 45 minutes of my time just for you to go down, bro.
I was like, I ain't got no more motivation, bro.
I can't.
He's going to come back and around, you know, like 15 or something.
And the zombies, they made them way more like you can't trick the game like you used to be
in the old Black Ops.
So I haven't played zombies, like I said before, I got told y'all.
It's probably a repeat since like Black Ops 2 for real, for real.
(12:40):
So these zombies, they just, they were like, hey, bro, we know this trick.
And I probably see the most difference or a huge difference because of how much time has passed
since our last play zombie.
So we trying to do that.
We fighting the boss.
I got a ray gun and stuff.
And I'm just like, yeah, bro, it's over.
And I think it's only like three of us.
I went down, almost, almost said, hey, bro, pick me up.
(13:03):
I got a ray gun.
But I was like, I ain't going to say that, bro.
I did.
I want to.
Come on, man.
Don't leave me with my ray gun, man.
I got the ray gun.
But anyway, we ended up dying anyway.
So it had been for naught anyway.
But other than that, playing multiverses, they didn't nerf my boy fan.
I'm heated about that.
They didn't nerf fan bad, bro.
(13:25):
Like y'all played the smash like type games and stuff.
They bro, they nerfed his range on his initial jab attack.
You know, the little basic little two, three, four hit combos people be having a little
spam that you don't got to bro.
They nerf that man.
He got mad ending lag and they shorten the range.
So if you miss, he got in the lag on his little initial attack.
(13:47):
I'm like, bro, they didn't.
I'm like, what is this, bro?
Like they didn't.
They didn't gut it.
My boy, man.
He ain't got his rising level two no more.
He ain't got his, they nerfed his spam or his little jab attack with all the ending lag.
So I ain't been having the greatest time on that game.
And then I think since they reset a lot of people's rates, everybody's trying to go back up to their rising rank.
(14:10):
But my rank was kind of high when they resetted it.
So I think I'm coming across players who was like top hunted and all that type of stuff.
Because there's some people, they do like they have platinum and stuff and they dog walking me and see me.
I'm looking like, bro, who is y'all?
I'm trying to life.
Like, come on.
I'm just so hard working nine to five, man.
Just wanted to come play some games.
And my boy, y'all were scraping me and sending me messages after whooping me.
(14:34):
So, but other than that, man, on my corals, everything smooth.
I haven't really been playing anything.
I low key was pondering.
I know I said I was going to get metaphor.
Still ain't did that.
I ain't even beat the Necro Master Spoiler Award.
But I was low key, again, impulsive.
I was like, I want to go get this shadow or Sonic Cross Shadow Generations or whatever.
(14:56):
But I probably need to be a little bit more tactful on my strategic and my buying and stuff rather than just go to the store and pay full price for it.
So that's probably the next thing I'm going to get.
I consider getting that Dragon Quest III Remake, the 2D HD one.
But I ain't going to get that, bro.
So I think I heard pretty good ratings for it though, but I ain't going to get it.
(15:17):
So, but that's pretty much it.
You ain't going to play it?
Basically.
And then I don't like they battles, bro.
Like the way they do their battles, like in Dragon Quest XI, they changed it where you can actually choose who you want to attack versus the...
I noticed in Dragon Quest VIII when I was playing that, you attack, you choose a group that you want to attack.
So like if there's one dog and there's one cat, you can choose to attack one dog or one cat.
(15:41):
But if there's three dogs in a group and then two cats, you can choose to attack the three dogs.
But they're going to randomly pick one of the three dogs, if I remember correctly.
So I didn't like when you do that.
I always thought that was kind of stupid when I first played Dragon Quest.
But I think whether you can actually pick which enemy you want to attack.
So, yeah, yeah, I didn't notice that when I played XI, but yeah, that makes sense.
(16:04):
Because I was thinking about either playing Dragon Quest.
Is it eight?
Which one got the one with like the long coat and the red bandana?
The Goku dude?
Well, they are Goku dudes.
He got the squirrel one day, he got that green little troll thingy with him.
(16:25):
And then he got...I think that's right.
I think the companions is a girl with like pointy pigtails.
White hair dude?
Yeah, so I think that one is eight.
I was just thinking about either playing that or somehow playing Dragon Quest III.
(16:49):
I mean, I will play eight, but the only problem is with eight, you only got the 3DS version or the PS2 version.
And the PS2 version probably won't hold up that well because they don't got it.
I mean, you can probably do some times two speed on there or like increase the speed, like, you know, some way, shape or form.
A lot of people said the 3DS version was straight because they had extra content.
(17:14):
That and you can speed up the thing on the battle pace.
Oh, it got a little...
The only reason the PS2 wasn't so long because I was slow to battle with it.
I mean, it's still a long game.
You'll spend at least like probably like 40 hours on there and stuff like that.
But I mean, that's not bad compared to people saying it's like 80 hours, but the battle pace is slow on the PS2 version.
So I like the 3DS version, cool though. So, I mean, I'll play that one.
(17:40):
OK, OK, OK. Anything else?
Oh, that's it for me. Cool, cool, cool.
All right. Well, for me, I mean, I was same old, same old.
I got a lot going on, but not too much at the same time.
(18:01):
I was playing Dragon Age, Veilguard, put about 15 hours into that now, and I'm still enjoying it.
I don't really have any problems with the game. Combat feels good.
The characters seem OK.
Actually, I kind of like like I have no problems with none of them.
So storylines seem good.
(18:23):
It seems like there's a lot of stakes with some of the side quests that I'm going to be going on.
And then some of the main stuff already has some big moments.
So I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I'm not really having an issue with the combat.
I'm not having an issue with like the level of detail or the character designs.
(18:46):
I'm following along and I think it's it's does not feel like a charge.
If someone says that, that's totally fine.
Nobody you don't have to like it. You don't have to care.
Or I guess I guess that sticks to me because it's kind of like the.
I can say the same thing about God of War playing every time the Kratos would try to be mean.
(19:12):
You know, but your son's right there.
Be careful. Like that would be the same thing of me saying the Dragon Age is bad because of the limitations of something.
But I think that it's just a different type of writing that went on.
And for me, that writing is still it delivers well.
So I like it. But overall, I've been playing Hades.
(19:35):
I've been playing Dragon Age and I've been playing Black Ops.
Not too much of the Black Ops.
I'm hearing a lot of good things, at least coming out the Black Ops camp about or Xbox, essentially.
Now that they're doing well, got good numbers.
People are buying it mostly on PlayStation.
That's obvious because Game Pass exists, but more people are playing on Xbox.
(19:59):
So overall, both of them are wins.
I don't really see the point of debating whether or not it's better that someone another console group is buying it more
because that money is still going to Microsoft.
So at least that change or at least that that attempt succeeded.
(20:23):
I don't know how I feel about a bad Call of Duty game coming out like that,
because at the end of the day, you're not going to be able to get those upfront sales initially,
which then can tinker into like, OK, you got this game out here.
It's making you you made it cost a lot of money, but you're not recouping that because everybody tried it and fell off it.
(20:45):
And now you don't have anyone wanting to play it and buy DLC for it.
And it's just kind of one of those things where you may lose money.
So they're leaving themselves open for a wound of making a bad game because if Modern Warfare 3 came out with this Game Pass thing,
people would stop playing it and it would be just a dead game for with no real sales generated.
(21:10):
So there is a there is a risk there.
So but overall today, at least it's doing well.
Dragon Age 2, I think it's selling well as well.
So that's really good, too. Another one that's selling well is the PS5 Pro, which nobody nobody expected.
But I expected that.
(21:32):
I felt like regardless of what Sony does, Sony is the best at marketing.
So all good when it comes to the the highlights, the real big players in some regards anyway.
But we'll see as the gaming community and the gaming industry continues to shift,
(21:57):
which we're going to be talking about the game of the year stuff as well.
But outside of that, family's good.
I'm good. A lot of good stuff happening personally.
So, you know, it's just all good over here, Jean.
Not no, no complaints, no notes.
But, yeah, let's keep it short.
(22:19):
Let's move on into our first topic here.
And not sure where we want to start, but I can talk about the game awards, talk about the nominees,
see our thoughts and explain what's going on here.
I wanted to do this live, but I'm technically still doing it live.
(22:45):
I didn't I didn't want to see this before we recorded.
So first time seeing what the game of the year nominees are and seeing what happened.
All I know is that I'm for sure believe that.
Elden Ring DLC got into the game of the year category
(23:06):
because they literally announced that, yes, DLC can be considered,
which means they have to clarify why it's going to be there.
So I believe that is a game of the year contender and we can go from there.
So but, yeah, let's talk some games, guys.
Anything you think should be in the game in here right now?
(23:29):
If you haven't looked at the list. Give me one.
I know you got one, but go ahead.
Oh, shoot.
I didn't I didn't look at the list.
Don't look at the list. I'm saying, what do you think?
Over the year. OK, what about you, Josh?
(23:53):
I've already seen the list.
Oh, my God. Thanks for ruining the fun.
All right. Well, let's move into the games.
Game of the year starting big.
We got Astro Bot.
We got Bellatro. If you don't know Bellatro is it is the card
rogue like game.
(24:14):
I loved it when I played it earlier this year.
Black Myth Wukong by Game Science.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Urchery.
Oh, it's there.
Final Fantasy seven rebirth.
And Jalen got it right.
Metaphor, Riffon, Tazio.
(24:35):
He almost didn't make it.
Oh, I didn't put it on the last year.
Just was suspense.
So we got Astro Bot Bellatro.
I think this is an alphabetical order, to be honest.
Astro Bot Bellatro.
Black Myth Wukong.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Urchery.
Final Fantasy seven rebirth.
Metaphor, Riffon, Tazio.
(24:57):
Anything you think is a clear winner on this one?
For me, it's Elden Ring because I think people are
unfortunately biased towards from software.
But also I think that that DLC was just so good that I kind of
get why they're putting it up for game of the year because it
(25:20):
for me is the best content I play all year.
OK, OK.
Yeah, I would have to agree with that.
Unfortunately, I did not play Black Myth.
Astro Bot seems great.
I did not play Final Fantasy and Metaphor recently came out and we
played it, but we did not.
(25:42):
I mean, I played these games.
I didn't beat these games.
The only one that grabbed my attention like crazy was Elden Ring.
And that's because I already had a deep respect for the game already.
So.
But anyways, I think that my my initial thought would have been
(26:05):
Black Myth Wukong simply because people have hyped this game up
a lot.
And I'm not saying that I like it or think that it's good, but I think
that people just have hyped it up a lot and it'll be a good tale story
for the it's a good storyline.
You know, storylines make the make or break it.
(26:27):
I'm not saying that the DLC ain't a storyline because literally it's
giving chance vibes at the Grammys when you got a mixtape eligible.
But I think the storyline fits more Black Myth Wukong.
And I'm a conspiracy theorist.
So any any any guesses on Game of the Year, Jaylen?
(26:55):
Oh, sure.
I probably say Stanky.
I mean, Elden Ring.
Just I mean, just based on the hype and stuff around it.
I heard all these good things about it.
I haven't heard one bad thing about it.
I think it'd be on our.
Yeah, I know they don't do votes for the Game of the Year, but I would
(27:17):
think that the popular choice is Final Fantasy just because that's the
game that people.
That's the game.
It's a popular game.
And I think there are a lot of people who are happy to praise it and there's
a lot of good stuff about it and they're happy to ignore the issues with it.
So I think that is the one that is the popular choice other than Elden Ring.
(27:43):
If Elden Ring wasn't there, I would say it's a default for Final Fantasy.
Personally, I'm surprised Black Myth is there.
Not that I don't think it's a good game, but I think it's a it serves more of
the stellar blade like action role and less of the Game of the Year where,
(28:04):
you know, Game of the Year could be just as good at one thing, but they tend
to have multiple things that people are praising.
And Black Myth looks good as well and plays good, but I feel like it lands
more in the stellar blade tier, which is an action, best action adventure
game, I think, along with Black Myth.
(28:25):
So I'm surprised to see that one there.
Astro Bot, I think it was a fun game.
I don't think it will win, unfortunately.
And yeah, metaphor, I kind of I think you have to put Atlas in there, but I
haven't played enough to say whether it's like Game of the Year or not, but
(28:47):
it could be like the runner up, I would say.
Best game direction, literally a copy and paste of the Game of the Year.
This is our runner up Black Myth, Wukong, Elden Ring, Final Fantasy, Rebirth
and Meta and metaphor runner up.
(29:10):
I'm still going to have to give it to.
I'm still going to say Black Myth.
I think they're going to sweep.
I ain't going to.
Elden Ring might sweep, but I just think that they're going to put Elden Ring
there and then say Black Myth, Wukong was better game, which is crazy.
Talk to me.
But I think that the amount of people that are that have enjoyed that game
(29:36):
probably it's just it just it just shows.
Well, it's significant.
It's significant.
I'm not saying that Elden Ring couldn't kill it, but I'm saying that I think
that that's what the storyline will be.
What y'all think about the game directions?
Yeah, for me, I think Final Fantasy and Elden Ring are interchangeable.
(30:00):
Like Elden Ring Game of the Year, Final Fantasy, best game direction or reverse.
I think that would be the less controversial version where they want to give
Elden Ring like the props so they get best direction and then just give Final
Fantasy the Game of the Year.
Yeah, I don't think I played enough a game of.
(30:24):
Yeah, I don't think Final Fantasy deserves Game of the Year, but I don't think
we live in a world where gamers will let Final Fantasy seven not win.
Oh, they hate it.
What are the parts?
They hate the parts.
They hate the people that they're making the direction where it's parts because
that is like a big deal.
(30:45):
I did not expect it to be such a big deal.
But when I started to realize that they're not only making it parts, but they
change in generations while making it part like that game does not did not come
out on the PS4.
So you have to buy another PS5 just to play it.
So people are upset with that with the company.
(31:06):
But I mean, rightfully so.
But that's that's that's another part of it that, you know, from software just
got that on their name right now.
They put that still they put they still put that shadow or a tree on on the PS4.
So. OK.
(31:28):
Best adaption, arcane fallout knuckles.
This is the movie.
This is like TV shows and things like that arcane fallout knuckles like a dragon.
Yakuza. I don't even know how that got in there.
Tomb Raider, the Legend of Lara Croft.
I don't even I haven't seen that game.
I haven't seen that show yet.
(31:49):
That show come out yet.
Yeah, that's the animated show where people were complaining she got too many muscles.
But it looks straight to me.
I didn't see that yet.
But out seeing them all.
I would still give it to fall out.
That's probably still my favorite show I watched this year.
(32:10):
But, you know.
Did you did you finish fallout or no?
No.
Both fallout and arcane are on my list.
I personally would vote fallout just because I think arcane is kind of is still an adaptation.
Like it's still obviously comes from a video game world, but it's kind of doing its own thing.
(32:33):
Like this is like it's not related to anything with League of Legends other than we got the character names.
Whereas fallout is kind of world building in the same like setting.
Like this is fallout five.
We made a TV show.
Gotcha.
That makes sense.
That makes sense.
Have you seen any have you seen Knuckles or anything of these Jaylen of all five of these shows?
(32:59):
Because I wouldn't think so.
But I've seen a little bit of all and I don't know much about the fallout universe, but I was enticed by the show.
I've seen a couple of episodes.
Gotcha.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The fallout one was probably like I said, when you're talking about bringing a world that's difficult to life, I think that's a difficult one.
(33:21):
And I think they did that well.
So best narrative.
And we got Final Fantasy seven rebirth like a dragon infinite wealth metaphor refunt asio son was saga hellblade to that's an interesting one.
I think that I think that's gonna get in there and then silent hill to.
(33:48):
I'm a betting man. I'm gonna have to go with Xbox paying off a what's the name to get hellblade away in so that's what I go with.
Any any guesses here.
Narrative wise.
(34:11):
Honestly, I don't really agree with any of the choices. Maybe I went hill just because it already had a good story, but it's a remake.
So I personally don't throw much to wait on that.
Final Fantasy seven.
Unfortunately, I think it's narrative.
It's as weak point like the characters agree.
(34:33):
The story is not.
So I don't know what is there.
I didn't play like a dragon.
I think it might be a lot of fun metaphor.
Who could win, but I haven't finished it.
Yeah, I don't think help late. I enjoyed it. I don't think it's like the strongest narrative.
It was a good story, though.
And but I think silent hill might have a stronger story than hellblade.
(34:57):
So I think that's why I think so.
That makes sense. I think the knock of being a remake is probably what's keeping me from putting it up there.
But that makes that makes total sense.
Art direction.
We know you all love smart.
Take them JPEGs.
(35:19):
Black myth.
Black myth. Elton Ring, Shadow of the Earth tree metaphor, we can't. And never I'm not giving it to metaphor because they have terrible anti-aliases.
And so I don't care what art they had at that point.
I hate it.
Every time I look at it, I'd be like, bro, why did they not use any type of TAA or any type of solution?
(35:42):
It's just atrocious.
But that doesn't change.
I guess I don't think we can or whatever, but it's a ugly presentation to me.
Yeah, I wouldn't I wouldn't fit metaphor either.
I would say Elden Ring art.
Oh, 100 percent.
Those landscapes that they created the ability to kind of.
(36:10):
The scale of a world, the way they use the terrain and approach to their world just seems so.
Above above the level of it just seems it all seems top tier to me at some point.
(36:31):
So I don't even I feel like they have to lean on their art direction because they don't talk much.
That's why they do it so well, so I always give it to them for that show.
So I don't disagree with what you said, but Black Myth has to win something.
So this is going to be they win.
Oh, OK. I feel like I put a little money on that one.
(36:54):
I don't know. Maybe not.
But I think they're going to take game of the year.
I think they are.
I guess that's going to be a good narrative.
Best score in music.
I'm a reserved judgment.
We got Astro Bot.
I think Astro Bot going to get this one because or maybe maybe best platformer.
(37:19):
But Astro Bot, Final Fantasy seven rebirth metaphor, refantasy, silent hill two and then stellar blade.
That's interesting. That's how the blade got in there.
So I'm going to be playing Final Fantasy or metaphor.
Yeah, I would definitely do Final Fantasy over metaphor.
(37:43):
Yeah, fun fantasy or metaphor.
I think they both are maybe not the strongest in the series.
I think stellar blade is actually good because it's the same people that did the near music and the near music really good.
But yeah, between those three, I would say probably Final Fantasy is that this is typically their category.
(38:05):
Yeah, they got the best metaphor.
I made it that far to really explore.
I mean, I know you always complain about the battle thing.
But when when that dude start seeing rapping or whatever he doing chatting that be hitting in the middle.
Like I was fighting that dragon. He was like, oh, do do do do do.
(38:32):
I think about the LSD.
I was like, let me see, bro. But you know, I'm game.
They don't change the music much to be like, they got like five variations or 10 variations of the same main song.
Yeah, I was very sued by stellar blades demo with the music.
I don't like Nears music, but like they always put me in the same.
(38:57):
They have this. I have the same feeling like I'm floating on a sound is making me literally float through a place, an area like it doesn't feel like I'm truly listening to something.
But I know it has elevated the presentation.
(39:19):
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know if that makes sense.
Yeah, they bring out the violins and ladies be hitting them high notes.
Yeah, yeah. Floating. Floating.
That's what I feel like when I be listening to that music.
I mean, I said, I mean, I can do anything right now.
I feel good. It feels like I feel good.
But then I think about it.
Music is the music is tough.
(39:41):
Best audio design Astro Bot Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Suana's Hellblade 2 and Silent Hill 2.
I guess that's audio design. I was happy to get that to Hellblade.
Yeah, I think like Call of Duty and stuff always does a good job.
But Hellblade, they they were doing the thing with the audio.
(40:05):
Yeah, they have a necessary reason to win audio design because they had to design a game to audio.
So I feel like they're there just based off of how the game is made is elevated.
And definitely felt that when I was playing it with all the voices.
So best performance, we have Rihanna White and that's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
(40:35):
We have Hannah Tell, which is Life is Strange, Double Exposure.
We got Humberly Gonzales from Star Wars Outlaws.
We have Luke Roberts from Silent Hill 2.
And then we have Melina Dragon from Hellblade 2.
Yep.
I don't have a I don't have a choice here, to be honest.
(41:01):
I think Hellblade is only when I play some I'm defaulting to it, but I don't know.
I think she did a good job.
Eris, Brianna White, and I think people love the character.
So I think that's the reason to give it to her.
(41:22):
I haven't played all the other games, but I think, yeah, maybe hers is like the most memorable or something.
OK, Innovation and Accessibility.
We got Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Diablo 4, Dragon Age the Velguard, Prince of Persia Lost Crown and Star Wars Outlaws.
(41:44):
I have a hard time judging these, but it's nice to see Dragon Age.
Could I hint?
Did I not?
Anything on that?
Yeah, OK, let's move on.
Games for Impact.
We got Indica.
We got Neva.
(42:05):
We got Life is Strange Double Exposure.
We got Hellblade 2.
We have Tales of Kinsera.
And then we have Closer the Closer the Closer the Distance.
Closer the Distance.
That's an interesting name.
I mean, give it to Hellblade.
I think they had the best presentation, but I don't really know.
Life is Strange always does well in regards to people really picking in on it and like feeling like it's a lot of meat there.
(42:34):
But honestly, I didn't play enough of these games or see enough of these games to really be able to judge that category well.
Well, this is the category for I mean, unfortunately, they call it DEI nowadays.
But this is the category for something unique that we haven't necessarily seen before in traditional games.
(42:56):
And I have unfortunately I'm not that familiar with most of these games.
Like I've never played Life is Strange.
Like I know the Close, no, Tales of Kinsera I think might have been made by a studio out of Africa.
But yeah, I'm not too familiar with them.
(43:17):
Fortunately, I don't know what Hellblade is kind of pioneering other than like the, you know, the mental like closest thing.
But I feel like they did that with the first game.
So I don't know if like if that's the same message or like what they're bringing this time.
I was just saying I don't know what what is like makes that one as innovative versus all these other games.
(43:45):
So I guess the presentation of trying to create that in game is probably the most difficult.
That's probably why I'm doing it.
I don't believe I don't have enough information on the rest of them either.
So that's the problem.
So really, I couldn't judge this, like I said, couldn't judge it because I'm basing it off of one experience.
(44:12):
But what about best ongoing game?
We got Destiny 2, Diablo 4, Final Fantasy 14, Fortnite and Hailed Divers 2.
Diablo 4 for me, but what do y'all think?
Destiny probably.
(44:33):
Ain't just the name of our product.
Real support.
Oh, my God.
Anyways, I would say why Destiny on that list?
They didn't have a rough year.
Hailed Divers had a rough year.
Hailed Divers has only been out one year and they've had ups and downs, but a lot more, I guess, ups than like Destiny.
I agree.
(44:55):
I'm just saying that for some reason it became cool to not like this game or at least I don't know what happened to the point where the credit, the public reception of the game kept shifting.
I think that has got to do with Sony and how they were running the PC stuff.
And then then some of the stuff on the developers with bad part patches and things.
(45:20):
So they've been having a rough year.
Diablo had a little bit of a rough patch as well, but they kind of got out of it quickly because they kept breaking stuff and just saying, we're not going to fix it.
Y'all have fun.
And then I was kind of like the whole situation with Diablo and the vessel hatred right now with the new character being so broken.
They just they say have fun for now and then we do it later.
(45:42):
So I think that there's a way to make a game balance and then there's a way to make sure you're you know, players are actually enjoying themselves.
They just I think a little bit of what Helldivers to what people may thought was fun like the ragdoll effect started to become a nuisance when he started up in the difficulty and not really the mechanics not being there enough to be so.
(46:09):
How do you say tight on tight mechanics to kind of go along with the more heavier difficulty.
I mean, I probably say Final Fantasy 14, though.
But yeah, yeah.
I mean, I didn't hear him certain things about Helldivers, but maybe as people talk about like the difficulty and they won't fix certain things or stuff too hard.
(46:35):
And then you got fire tracking tornadoes and stuff like that. Yeah, that's pretty much.
I think some of you know, I makes like some people like it's supposed to be hard just to have a third and the people that's having fun with the difficulty.
It's like a polarized group. And then some people like don't fight the robots. It's too hard.
Like, you know, I don't find the games on keep dying.
That's just a person.
Yeah.
(46:58):
OK. Best community support, Baldur's Gate 3, Final Fantasy 14, Fortnite, Helldivers 2, No Man's Sky.
I think it's going to be between Baldur's Gate 3 and Helldivers.
(47:23):
OK. He hit me with the what? He hit me with the what's his name? Waka Flocka.
OK. Best independent game.
Animal Well, Bellatro, Lorelei and Laser Eyes, Never, UFO 50.
I know Bellatro and Animal Well. Well, the other ones I do not know.
(47:45):
So I don't really got it. I don't really got one for this one. I think Bellatro probably close neck and neck for me. I'm liking them.
Yeah, I think Bellatro just because of the impact is had is very popular.
UFO 50. I haven't played it, but that's literally like you pay fifteen, twenty dollars or something on Steam and it's fifty different games.
(48:08):
They're not all like ten hours long, but they're like two to four hours, some of them eight hours of fifty different genres.
And a lot of people have liked that because it's pretty good. I think it's made by somebody.
Maybe they made Splunkie or something like that. So they're good at making games, but it's literally fifty games.
(48:31):
So I would say UFO 50 or Bellatro.
Best debut indie game, Animal Well, Bellatro, Manor, Manor Lords, Pacific Drive and the Plumkey Squire.
I know all of these games. So I'm going to give it to Animal Well.
OK, Plumkey Squire and Pacific Drive had some good showings as well.
(48:57):
Manor Lords, too. So honestly, that would be a that's probably the toughest category I've seen so far.
And that's and that's saying something about the industry is that the indie games are punching up well above what the, you know, game of the years could do.
So best mobile game, we got AFK Journey, Bellatro, the Pokemon Trading Game, Weathering Waves and Zenless Zone Zero.
(49:33):
I don't know which one Josh got. I don't know.
It could be that last one. Triple Z.
What would you give? I don't really have much to say on this one, honestly.
I don't really got that many.
I'm just if I'm a gambling man, I would say it's going to be Zenless Zone Zero.
(49:57):
Yeah, I personally don't play most of these. Bellatro, since it's on Steam, I don't think it has to win the mobile category.
So if it gets the other one, maybe it doesn't get this one. Pokemon game is popular, but I don't know how much impact this has.
Weathering Waves, I don't think is as popular as like Genshin.
(50:18):
That's basically just another Genshin style game.
And then Zenless Zone Zero is also on PC. So that might that's like the biggest budget game on the list.
So it could win. Got you. OK.
Best VR and AR game. So we got Arizona Sunshine, Asgard's Wrath 2, Batman Arkham Shadow, Metal Hellslinger, Metro Awakening.
(50:51):
I would probably give it to Asgard's Wrath. Best action game.
Black Myth Wukong, Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade and then Warhammer Space Marine.
I'm really surprised Space Marine only got one character category, but that makes sense to be the best action game.
I'm going to give it to Warhammer.
(51:15):
Any thoughts on around that one before we move to the next?
I am surprised. For me, it's a three way tie. Warhammer, Black Myth and Stellar Blade.
I don't think Stellar Blade is the best one of that list, but it was at least fun and I think it has good gameplay.
But again, I think Black Myth and Stellar Blade are direct competitors.
(51:43):
So whichever more people like is going to win. Warhammer, I think it was a good game, but maybe it doesn't have as much
hype behind it as Black Myth.
Best action adventure game. Astrobot, Prince of Persia Lost Crown, Silent Hill 2, Star Wars Outlaws and The Legend of Zelda.
(52:07):
Why is Zelda here?
I have no clue. I'm going to give it to Prince of Persia.
I think it's probably my best Sky Scroller, but at the same time, it's pretty up there when it comes to great games in my opinion.
RIP Ubisoft. What's this? Montaplier?
(52:29):
Yeah, man. Crazy.
Best RPG. Oh, go ahead.
No, we can move on. I agree.
Best RPG. Dragon's Dogma 2, Elden Ring, Shadow of the Urch, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Like a Dragon, Infinite Wealth, Metaphor and Fantasio.
(52:52):
Elden Ring.
Dragon's Dogma is not getting anything.
It is like a dragon or metaphor for me. And I guess Ertree. I don't really think Final Fantasy is that much of an RPG.
(53:16):
This will be crazy if this game won in this next category.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, Grand Blue Fantasy Versus Rising, Marvel Versus Capcom Fighting Election Arcade Classics, Multi Versus or Tekken 8.
You know how bad this category is?
(53:37):
Yeah, I know what I'm going to say.
Man, don't say it. You know how bad this category is?
This is a bad category. There is literally levels to fighting games. And if anything other than Tekken 8 wins, I would be insanely like, what have we become?
I don't think any of those other games should be even close to Tekken.
(53:58):
I don't think any. I don't think it's a point in having this category.
They should just give it to Tekken 8. But I understand that these games should be somewhere.
But I don't think when you say best, you mean above the rest, you mean technically, you see something that has skill, that has variety, has the ability to capture an audience.
(54:21):
And I just feel like these never mind. I capture audience puts everything back into the category.
So what do you think, Jaylen?
Yeah, I mean, it might start with an L.
Nah, that game, Tekken for sure should be there.
(54:43):
All biases aside, I know that DBZ had a Dragon Ball, had a lot of hype and stuff like that because it's like the American State Technique had other Tenkaichi's.
But that's like the technical definitive Budokai for Tenkaichi.
I mean, that one won't get the hype, but the technical actual fighting game non-flashy just fully encompass what fighting games truly are for the extremists for fighting either.
(55:07):
They truly are. It will be technical.
Yeah, this category is botched for me.
The multiverses should be in there. I don't know what they're thinking with that.
They just like, hey, bro, just put some in there, bro.
They need more. They need more.
Just throw it in the bag, bro. Just throw it in the bag.
It'll be insane.
You know what? I think just because people are crazy, they would literally give it Dragon Ball.
(55:29):
It is crazy.
Best family game Astro Bot Princess Peach Showtime Super Mario Party Jamboree The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom and then a plucky Squire.
I would give it to Astro Bot.
But also Super Mario Party is a jam of a time always.
(55:52):
I would give it to Astro Bot. Is that game even co-op?
Yes, I thought it was.
It is? Like on the same system or are you going to add two?
Uh, I don't know. Is it local co-op?
No, it doesn't. It features both a single player as a multiplayer mode. You have to have another game system.
(56:25):
Oh my God.
Super Mario Party. Super Mario Party idiots. That is not a family game.
Come on, guys. What the heck is wrong with them? They could not put that in there. That's not a family game.
I could have sworn they had co-op. That's not a family game, guys. You got to understand what a family game is.
It's not where you got to hook up five different PS5s to play together. Jesus Christ.
(56:49):
You ain't got two PS5s?
Oh my God. Best Sim slash strategy game.
Age of mythology, Frostpunk 2, Path of Goddess. I'm not going to try to spell that first name. Manor Lords or Unicorn Overlord.
I actually had a chance time for Unicorn Overlord and I did like what I played, but I don't got no. I ain't really got no opinion on this one.
(57:21):
Any thoughts?
Yeah, I don't know how tough they're going to judge, I guess, the strategy elements. Personally, I think Unicorn Overlord is a good balance of easy enough to understand, but still strategic.
But Frostpunk or Age of Mythology might be more challenging. Personally, I would vote for Unicorn Overlord.
(57:43):
Gotcha. Okay. Sports, fighting, racing. Don't care. I would give it to WWE because I like that.
Best multiplayer Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Helldivers 2, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Tekken 8, and then we got Warhammer Space Marine 2.
(58:06):
I would probably give it to Helldivers.
I would probably say Helldivers. I would probably give it to Helldivers.
Yeah, I mean, I find myself enjoying Black Ops 6, but I think Helldivers 2 just gave a different feel of...
It's the first time a game got us to play any type of PvE that didn't have to fight another player. I think that's different.
(58:33):
I feel like you got a decent amount of depth to it and it's doing something different. I mean, obviously, you got the first one, but Black Ops is more or less the same thing.
And I mean, let's be honest, the way we was playing Black Ops, I don't know if I was... I think I was talking to you or I was talking to Seahorn.
I'm like, I got five games. Let me run them off. Maybe that. Maybe not that.
I told you, give it some time. It always happens.
(58:58):
I mean, I can play like 30, 40, 30 minutes to an hour and then I got to get off my heart. That's not fair.
But most anticipated game, Death Stranding 2.
It's just GTA 6. I don't know why they made this one.
Yeah, there's a super category. There's nothing that can even come close.
(59:20):
GTA 6, you're right. I don't know any of these content creators, so shout out to them.
Shout out to the eSports teams. There are a lot of eSports games.
Best eSports athletes. Shout out to them.
eSports team, shout out to them.
(59:41):
But yeah, that's what it is.
Honestly, a lot of these categories are boring.
The only one I didn't think was boring was the indie one.
They seem to be pretty much front runners. It doesn't really have any excitement in it.
But we'll leave it at that because we spent a lot of time on that.
(01:00:06):
Let's move on and do it quickly.
Phil Spencer, my boy, Philly Phil.
He basically was trying to let us all know that we got an Xbox handheld coming.
We got more paper, more paper, more inches.
They got more stuff coming that people want to see, people want to hear about.
(01:00:31):
He kind of was telling not only that we smart enough to realize or I wouldn't say smart enough.
They think that their process or their philosophy is the best philosophy moving forward.
They feel like council exclusivity is dead and they feel like everything is an Xbox.
Boy, did I hate that campaign ad.
(01:00:55):
But I understand it, I suppose. I'm not I'm not going to hate on it because I understand it.
But what do you feel about Phil Spencer and his take right now?
Obviously, we cannot say they're not doing well.
They literally just dropped Call of Duty on Game Pass.
They're making plenty of money.
They have plenty of games coming out.
They still got games coming out this year.
(01:01:16):
They got games announced for next year.
They're not losing in the traditional sense.
They're losing and their Xbox console sales.
And the fact that the brand just doesn't feel like the same.
That is where they're losing. It is not monetary.
It is not engagement. They're not losing there.
(01:01:40):
What do you feel about Xbox today?
Yeah, I think it's the brand that is not necessarily going to become diluted,
but they're giving up their share in the market where they had footing for the last 20, 30 years.
(01:02:02):
So I think that is just the biggest issue for me.
I think the Xbox games being available in more places is nice,
but consoles are expensive and I can't see them justifying making an Xbox next generation and then generation after that.
Eventually, they're just going to stop making the boxes because how are they going to justify it to people who are going to buy it?
(01:02:32):
And then how are they going to justify it to their own overhead?
Why do you need an Xbox and just put it on the PlayStation?
So I think that's the not scary part,
but the unnerving part where you don't know what the future of the actual Xbox is going to be.
(01:02:53):
Because I think that they've done a lot of good stuff in the hardware space.
They were the backwards compatibility leader when even Nintendo wasn't doing it with the Wii U.
So yeah, I think that's going to suck to have them stop making or them stop focusing on the hardware.
(01:03:15):
Well, on the software side, yeah, they're making money, so you can't really knock it on that sense.
Yeah, it's definitely one of those things where it is just an evolution of the brand and how they try to treat it.
I don't necessarily have to like it, per se.
(01:03:40):
I am still stuck in my ways of having a traditional council where they try to put all their best work and effort into that council.
But at this point, it has become blatantly obvious that having my games wherever I want them is so much better than not.
(01:04:05):
So the PC has slowly become my place of choice, because if I want to play them on the go, I can.
And if I want to sit down and enjoy them on a bigger screen, I can.
And now with my setup, I can now enjoy it even on the couch experience.
(01:04:28):
But obviously, it's not that type of feeling of just putting a council in Xbox still kills it in that regard.
So as they continue to build out their play anywhere spaces, they already have to do is create a handheld that is sufficient enough to run and operate on its own.
(01:04:49):
And it only makes sense for them to continue to leverage the PC space that they have always been embedded in.
So what I see in the future Xbox is better hardware, better PCs, better software and the ability to kind of change and shift as you go.
(01:05:12):
I don't see that the council is going to be a standalone thing where it does not have some form of operating system that connects to the PC.
I don't see it anymore for them if it the unification of what they're trying to do with.
Like if they can create that unity type approach like you see on the Steam Deck.
(01:05:37):
Where you're literally the council experience can be had on the PC and vice versa. And there is no stopping them at that point, because how do you solve a problem when nobody wants to buy into your brand anymore?
You put it on the you put it on the bigger brand, you allow yourself to become essentially another PC with a dedicated headset set of software and just paying people.
(01:06:08):
Hey, you're already making a PC version. Just optimize it for these set of settings.
I think that that Steam Deck has showcased that people have an appetite for that type of stuff. I just think that that's their role. That's their that's their go ahead. That's their North Star, so to speak.
And I can get behind it because simply enough, I would just I'm totally fine with sticking a PC in my living room.
(01:06:34):
I think that that is that's the goal. And that's the that's where they want to go. But they're putting that in the best wrapper possible.
I think that is the that's the that's the that's the triumph. So I don't know how that's all going to work out.
But to me, there is no need to battle with the competition when the competition could never. That's where I feel like they're going. They just go into a place where, you know, someone you just can never compete.
(01:07:07):
They could never have that immunity. They could never say notice Microsoft, because at this point, it's kind of like a.
It's a no brainer, regardless of what you try to do, you're playing your games on PC. They technically can work on Xbox.
So I just feel like. There is.
(01:07:31):
A drastic shift coming maybe in a year or two, maybe in four years, maybe not this generation, but.
There is. We they are making you comfortable with this list stuff.
So he did to himself, to be honest, because Microsoft couldn't get away with half the stuff they did if Sony wasn't doing the same thing.
(01:07:57):
But they're making it comfortable to not have a disk drive.
They're making it comfortable for you to not necessarily own your games and they're making it comfortable for you to to also.
Have to be online. So it's kind of like a.
(01:08:18):
It's kind of one of those things as they continue to build themselves out to be what they truly want to be.
It is kind of a. It's killing the other guy softly and hopefully, hopefully they adapt.
I don't think the PlayStation is going to go anywhere. I think people are is too beloved.
(01:08:39):
I just think that is Sony continue to make bad decisions and become and gets beat out by price.
Because they nobody go pay and ain't nobody paying for that no more.
It becomes scary when Microsoft can provide PC experience bundled and wrapped in a console presentation,
(01:09:03):
but also target you at the lower prices because they never are going to or at least as to what, you know,
Phil is stating that he never go to the higher price point because they have the series as they have the ability to kind of.
Keep hitting them where they hurts and where people really don't want to spend that much money or something.
(01:09:27):
So from what I was hearing from him, all I could take away from it was basically they have a plan.
It's just waiting for them to execute. I didn't really get the sense of someone that was incompetent
and didn't know what they were doing with the business.
If I was anybody smart, I would probably buy some Microsoft stock because they do tend to.
(01:09:52):
The the shift in gaming is drastic.
It's drastic enough to understand that it may not be the big three anymore.
It could just be end up being somebody in their own realm.
We still got two players out here making great games, but this other player is just simply a conglomerate.
(01:10:16):
So if I was anybody smart, I'll be buying, you know, I'll be buying some stock.
I'll be buying some Microsoft stock, to be honest with you.
They don't got to wait on no game to be good. That's the point.
It's like the generally the point. I ain't got to wait no game to be good.
I just got to be I just got to have your mind share.
(01:10:40):
That's what you can get when you when you got to own the biggest PC platform out there.
And there's no other platform like it.
So that's what you return to a monopoly.
So but anyways, that's my thoughts around the PC and where it tends to read this Phil Spencer conversation is going with the additional handheld with the addition to the.
(01:11:09):
With the talks about the games coming anywhere, I don't really see them back and down from that approach.
So any who's I guess let's move on as well.
Just so you guys are aware, Josh did have to drop.
(01:11:30):
It is a significant time difference between us and him.
And see, I get the day started.
So unfortunately, that means he has to get Mira together so they can hit the town, get the daycare.
But he did mention Overwatch Classic Jalen in that I think I think it's two modes right now.
(01:11:57):
It's Overwatch Classic. And then there is a pace legends classic.
Which one would you prefer to play right now?
I'm not going to lie to you. I did hop on.
I don't know Overwatch Classic or Apex Classic entails, but I probably have my Overwatch based on everything I've been through Apex.
I'm taking away my alternator.
(01:12:19):
I mean, I wanted to say Apex, but it's really Overwatch, man.
So I really wanted to say Apex, man, but they let me down.
So I got to say Overwatch.
I think they're going to drop the bar for us.
Yeah, I think that they I think the Overwatch one would probably be ideal because I want to see how I felt and how broken it was.
(01:12:44):
I play both because I want to see how broken it was when it first came out and like all the little changes that we take for granted.
But I think I would have more fun with Overwatch because it's just like a different type of.
(01:13:06):
It's a different type of skill hit and it's a different type of skill level like the gap for skill is a little bit different.
It's kind of way more polished and team oriented to the point where you can still have fun and not be the greatest.
But I feel like Apex Legend, you just don't have a chance if you've got a movement guy coming at you or if you try to mark.
(01:13:32):
Yeah, man, it's just like it's not really.
It's not a newbie friendly game.
Yeah, man, it's just never it never has been.
It always has been that nobody knew about how to do certain things, so it just wasn't in there.
But after people have come accustomed to a movement or a style of play that shifts the meta and shifts the game, it becomes the norm in that game more so than Overwatch.
(01:14:03):
So I feel like that Overwatch.
Yeah, I mean, if we just speaking on like new styles and stuff like that, like is a 50-50. I mean, theoretically, there's a 50-50 chance you'll win because you're on a team.
Even if you do play bad and stuff like that, you got like I want to pass skill based matchmaking and stuff like that.
(01:14:24):
But you have a you have a better chance of winning versus playing a what is it 60 people on a three on three on three battle royale.
So, I mean, you need to know what you're doing, especially when it come down to it. And let's buy the you know, God's what you or God's grace that you you trapped with somebody who's going to basically get killed by the ring or something like that.
Or they just don't know how to play to and y'all both got lucky to be there.
(01:14:47):
So I mean, that's like that's a bad chance. Right.
You ain't getting that. Yeah, they're they're they're the philosophy of the game is to create a space of constant competitiveness.
And that is the that is the it's the it's the purpose of the type of game mode it is.
(01:15:10):
So it's a little bit different in Overwatch where, yeah, you could become the best you could be and push yourself solely.
But there is still a team objective game. You still have to do certain things to kind of build that team.
And you're only battling five other people versus, you know, it becomes like, you know, it just doesn't feel the same that that level of that how how how quickly they expedite the skill gap and the level of skill in that game is crazy.
(01:15:44):
So, yeah, I think I'd probably pick Overwatch over anything.
So Overwatch classic it is I'm definitely going to jump into it and give it a shot.
I think I've seen something about it when I hop in. Wait, did they have it out on Saturday because I was playing on Saturday.
I think it is. It's been out for it's from November 12 to December 2nd. So, yeah, all right. I had to try it out.
(01:16:14):
I did see another game type, but I was like, when I couldn't have done what that makes sense.
Yeah. So.
And no limits is basically where you can you can pick who you want to pick you. There's no limits to like the remember how you can have like 45 Winston.
(01:16:38):
Yeah.
I wouldn't either. But that's what people that's what they they have that on there as well.
OK, let's talk about a little bit of your multiverses for a second.
Multiverses and.
(01:17:01):
Harry Potter's Quidditch champions, which I expected to flop.
They lost WB 100 million.
And then, you know, you know how we already saw 200 million loss and suicide squad.
So that's 300 million. That's a crazy number to say out loud.
(01:17:22):
But, uh. Huh.
That's a crazy number to say out loud. It's just it's too it's too drastic.
300 million for.
And it's not even been that long.
But anyways, suicide squad was bad.
(01:17:45):
Harry Potter Quidditch, I knew that was not going to do well.
I was not expecting multiverses to not do OK.
I thought that was going to kind of break even at anything just due to the fact that.
There was a lot of hype around it when it initially launched and I had a significant like I would still play that game today.
(01:18:06):
There is nothing that would stop me from playing that game today.
And I throw a little couple of dollars on it to get the battle pass.
I don't have a problem with playing that game.
So I just didn't feel like most people will be so, you know, I didn't think people would be so indifferent.
I think maybe people would just play it and the people that like it like it and the people that don't don't.
I didn't think it was going to be like one of those things where it wasn't really getting enough players on it.
(01:18:32):
So I mean, I thought that same exact seven matches in a row or seven hits in a row.
I'm like, bro, this game is only got 82 players on here, bro.
I'm going to be running and I bought bro and he's still popping back up.
You see on my bro and he's still popping back up.
I'm like, come on, gang. How many people playing?
(01:18:54):
Yeah. So that's what it kind of basically is saying. And I know that when I was looking at this article by IGN, it basically stated that right now,
the player count is like 1700 on Steam when it used to like have a time peak of like one hundred and fifty three thousand.
So it's definitely a difference.
(01:19:17):
So do you feel like when you're logging in and you try to look for matches that take long now or is it still like the same snappiness?
No, it's still the same snappiness. I'll be having to get ready.
So I'm doing something more. I'll shoot the match starting.
So they put you on a match as quick though. You might be fighting the same people where you're going to be in there.
Well, I mean, at least that's a good silver lining. I'm just I don't really want them to go away
(01:19:45):
because I know that it is it's mostly versus can continue to elevate and get better.
It's the other games that I kind of like. Yeah.
Don't spend your waste your time on playing making a Harry Potter Quidditch game.
That should have been DLC for Hogwarts Legacy.
Like that should have been things that you all did that was smart versus trying to sell another game
(01:20:11):
and thinking that the level of expectation for Quidditch in a game would be will translate to Quidditch as a standalone.
Like nobody just want to play Quidditch all day.
But that had been a great DLC to be purchased.
Fifteen bucks, twenty dollars and saying that this got a league now.
(01:20:33):
And I think nobody would have bad eye. You already got the copies out there.
You know, I just think that they make important decisions that's causing them to actually lose money.
Not necessarily that the game suck.
You know, also with Mortal Kombat one, Mortal Kombat being really good game didn't really do successfully.
(01:20:55):
And I think that's simply due to the fact that it came around Street Fighter stuff like now, bro.
Please move over, man. It's a real fighting game here. That's pretty much what happened because that's that's not like a.
It's not like one of those things where.
I don't know. I'm not saying that they imitate. I think Mortal Kombat has a lot of history and everything.
(01:21:18):
But I think that those two challenge in each other, it did probably hurt both of them when they could have kind of had like.
Lots of different times that gave more people more time to kind of play both because it wasn't the fact that Mortal Kombat didn't have a good showing.
It's the fact that when they had to choose which one are you going to put some time into the more mechanically sound one one day.
(01:21:43):
And that's usually what happens. So.
But yeah, multiverses and Harry Potter delivering heavy losses, unfortunately, for WB Games.
And I'm really hoping that they get back on their feet because it's unfortunate, super unfortunate.
(01:22:07):
But yeah, that's pretty much it. I mean, I know I wanted to speak on Dragon Balls sparking zero in the player count dropping 90 percent.
I wonder what the steam count is today.
Let's look, let's look. You still trying to go.
(01:22:28):
They're trying to go slander on the game.
You're going to buy it, right?
I don't know, man. They like when I be saying a little scene, not saying the little.
Not cuts, I guess they kind of like cut scenes.
I mean, the game be looking kind of stiff and I'm just like, I don't know if I pay that much to play that game.
So, you know, and they just be showing like with the battle intro is like, I'm glad you're here to fight, you know, whatever they say to each other.
(01:22:55):
I just look like I look kind of stiff.
Why is it not let me see the player count?
That's weird.
(01:23:16):
They try to hide something.
Oh, OK. 3000.
And that's it. Yeah, there are. But that's just for steam, right?
That's just for steam. Yeah. OK.
They get one twenty two, right? One hundred and twenty two thousand. Yeah.
(01:23:38):
It was something pretty high.
Geez.
What is the people steam?
Player count.
(01:24:05):
Yeah, a month ago, they had like eighty thousand. Their peak was at one hundred and twenty two thousand.
And yeah.
Well, now it's saying they have about seven thousand somebody capping, bro.
Well, that's the minute they go to. OK.
Yeah, they were. Yeah, they say that seven thousand right now is team DB.
(01:24:31):
But I was looking at the actual in game on.
And it's saying that is three thousand. So.
I don't know where to get an extra five from right now, but I mean, most of the players probably.
Well, I mean, I don't know. I can't really speak on the day and age.
I probably a lot of people probably on console. But I know that one.
(01:24:52):
Yeah. I mean, that makes sense. I wouldn't.
I mean, it's still a large job, regardless of any. Yeah.
Yes, significantly pretty big one, actually. It's like, hmm.
How did that happen? But overall, though, I mean, fundamentally, I think that people like the game.
I think that people started playing the multiplayer and started to realize it has no depth.
(01:25:16):
And at least the depth that they think they have there is kind of broken.
So I think that's what happened. Yeah.
I'm seeing a lot of mixed things, too. So I really know what the make of it.
Like people we have, I mean, seeing memes about different groups of people, like teams and stuff like that.
And they like it's insider because I played a game of people. I hate these teams when they just were these.
(01:25:42):
You know, how do you catch the people or whatever, because they all have something in common and.
So he got her bills, basically, what they get.
Well, yeah, I mean, that's.
That's pretty much what I would expect from that game, though, so no surprises, I would say.
(01:26:04):
But yeah, pretty much it.
I really got much else to talk about. I think we covered it all.
We will be back with more topics and more conversation next week.
But overall, yeah, I think we got it all.
Nothing else I wanted to cover off on, I know Phil in their handhelds was pretty big one.
(01:26:28):
I'm just hoping that I'm hoping that they they do it right.
I feel like it's just a it could really go wrong.
I feel like they are a little too big to make mistakes, but we will see for sure.
But I want to thank you guys for listening or watching if you got to this part.
(01:26:51):
The real OG, I want to thank you as always.
I really appreciate you taking the time to take a listen to what we have to talk about in regards to gaming.
And we're going to try to bring you more topics, more news, more big things.
But as always, you are appreciated.
(01:27:12):
I should have like that was that song you are appreciate.
I forget what the song is called.
But dear mama, dear mama, there we go.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't think you know what? No slander on to buy name.
(01:27:34):
I'm not talking about our people.
But all right, thanks for listening. We will talk to you next week.
Peace.
