Speaker 1 (00:01):
it's Tuesday.
Yay, we're so glad you're heretoday, because everybody needs a
little.
Pick me up on Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Tuesday.
We specifically chose Tuesdaybecause Tuesday is kind of a
lousy day yeah, is there any daythat's really a great day.
Oh yeah, yeah, okay.
So I don't mind Mondays toomuch, because I like my job.
I don't like Monday morning, right like, because I like my
job, I don't like Monday morningright Like oh, I got to get up
and go.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
No, getting up on
Monday, but like starting the
week.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
It's always fun to
see the kids Like I don't mind
Mondays too much and of course, everybody loves Friday.
Yeah, that's fair.
Okay, on Thursdays, my familygoes out for a beer, so it's
pretty great in our house for abeer.
So it's pretty great in ourhouse.
Yeah, that works.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
But tuesday, like
nobody celebrates tuesday, like
there's nothing special abouttuesday.
That's true.
Did you know that in schools, statistically speaking, the
highest day for referrals as inlike kids being sent to the
office is thursday?
Because people are so tired ofthe week that they're just over
it by thursday and then on fr,even though the behavior tends
to be worse, people are in abetter mood.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
So they tolerate it
better.
That is so interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Wild right Anyway
welcome.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Oh yeah, sorry, let's
, let's do our show.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Welcome to how to be
a grownup.
This is the show that teachesyou the things that grownups
need to know and this episodespeaking of starting things off
on the right foot.
This episode is all aboutstarting your day off on the
right foot, but with realisticand normal human things that you
actually have time for and notlike I spend 45 minutes
(01:38):
journaling and then I sketch thesunset or sunrise, whatever
it's not stuff like that rightbecause nobody can handle that.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
So but first, okay,
I'm gonna introduce my partner
and it's gonna be a little pg-13.
Oh, we can call her the snoozebutton, because I'd hit that yes
(02:08):
.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Oh, that is my
favorite one of all time.
Oh, I played with that.
I was like, can I go there?
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Yeah, I can.
Yes, of course, you can, ofcourse you can.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
That's Jenny.
She's my vibrant bloomingorchid and I adore her, and
that's high maintenance, though,sorry you're not high
maintenance.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
No, it's okay.
Um, I was talking to someonejust this week who, like, does
orchids, like for real, andshe's like oh yeah, you know, I
just I keep them in my shower sothat they get the steam that
they need, and then I justrotate them in and out and I was
like, yeah, no, um, I can'tgrow grass, so right.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
I killed my cactus,
so I multiple cacti.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah, oh, it's too
bad, because I really do love
the only cactus I ever keptalive was one that a friend gave
me and I put it in myhydroponic thing.
Oh yeah, and it grew in thehydroponics and then it died Too
much moisture, but no, it gothuge.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Oh yeah, Mine got
really big.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
And then it just like
.
I guess it like couldn'tsustain, I don't know, but it
just died.
And then I was like, wow, Ikilled my friendship cactus.
It's like our love fern.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
I know I did that too
, you let it die Okay, let it
die, okay.
So today again, talking aboutstarting things off on the right
foot.
Hopefully our banter has helpedyou have a few laughs this
morning.
I full disclosure.
I think a lot of the times, these topics that we choose come
from things we want to learnourselves, and we've talked
(03:39):
about New Year's resolutions onour show.
We've talked about self-care onour show.
So these are things that Idon't particularly enjoy because
I think they set unrealisticexpectations and there is a
literal national like holiday of, like resolution quitting day,
so I think that it's unrealisticto expect those from yourself.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I have a friend who
said that the bakery in her
small town closes until January7th when all the resolution
dieters are done.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
That's amazing.
I love that.
It's smart.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Sure, like it's
probably that they have a very
busy Christmas season and thenthey take a week off in January.
But the idea that that's whatthe sign says is hilarious.
That's really good.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
So I was on Reddit
because, of course, right, and I
love the self-care threadbecause it's really.
There's just always such greatideas in there and none of them
are, like you know, weird andunrealistic.
So the OP on this is new coffee, 8836.
(04:43):
But the thing that they talkedabout was things you do in the
morning to set the tone for agood day, and I loved that
because I think that that is inline with intentions.
(05:04):
And a spare five minutes, aspare 15 minutes or 30 or 45 or
more, okay, okay, so let's startwith it.
If you have five minutes, Ialways like to start my day
personally with a greeting frommy person or a greeting to my
person, right?
So if you can get a little hugin the morning, do that.
(05:27):
It feels good.
We know that hugs arescientifically proven to help
you have a better day.
Yes, right, so do that.
Greet your pet and let your petout Go potty.
It's a good way to start yourday on the right foot.
If you have medication, putthem near where you get ready
for the morning so that you takeyour meds.
This was one of my favoriteones from the whole Reddit
(05:50):
thread.
This poster called Hidden Curlwrote.
I drink a good glass of waterin complete silence.
Brush your teeth.
Yes, we brush at night to keepour teeth.
We brush in the morning to keepour friends.
We splash some water on yourface.
(06:11):
I have this um, it's like anaerosol not aerosol, but it's.
It feels like aerosol spray andit's a veen thermal spring
water spray.
It's not expensive, it takestwo seconds to like spray this
on your face and it feels soluxurious to do it this way
instead of just like.
I hate splashing water on myface because I hate when the
(06:33):
water runs down my arms.
It's just like a sensory thing.
It drives me crazy.
So that's a way to like treatmyself.
If I have five spare minutes, Ilove it, and then just take a
step back and take a few deepbreaths in through your nose,
out through your mouth, trysquare breathing, where you hold
for four seconds and then letit out.
It's, it does really make a bigdifference for calming yourself
(06:55):
down for the day.
Okay, okay, if you have 15spare minutes, include all the
above, right, because those arepretty much the basics if you
have five minutes, but I sawsome really nice ones that I
liked.
Morning affirmations, even ifit's just like thank you for
(07:15):
letting me wake up, and todaywill be a good day.
That's all you have to do.
It doesn't have to be anythingmore than that, or you know.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
I can do hard, good
enough is good enough.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Right, good enough is
good enough.
I can do hard things somethinglike that right um open the
blinds or the curtains.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Okay, I love this one
, yeah, and I wake up first in
my family due to the nature ofmy job.
Employment, yes, um, I have tobe at school before the kids,
which you know, makes sense thatthe administrators would be
there before the children andthen also, most of the time,
also before the teachers.
There are some teachers whocome in very early, but for the
(07:54):
most part I'm before all theteachers do.
So I can't open the blinds orthe curtains in the mornings on
weekdays, right, but on weekendsI love opening the blinds and
letting the sunlight in.
It completely changes how Ifeel.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yes, it's a big deal.
And if so, if you have theoption to open even if it's in a
different room, where you canget some natural light in the
morning, even if it's still darkwhen you wake up just that a
little bit of real lighting isso nice.
It feels really luxurious to dothat too.
Another one I saw and I do this, or my husband does this every
(08:37):
day which is make the bed.
It sounds really weird, but itdoes give you an early sense of
accomplishment.
You're like at least I did thatright.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Yeah, it gives you a
nice place to come home to too.
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
There is that nice
piece of it.
It makes the room look morepulled together always and I
like to do this while I'm stillin it, which I realize sounds
counterintuitive.
But if you just get in themiddle of the bed and then pull
everything up and then kind ofarrange the side that you are
going to not get out on, andthen when you get out, it's just
(09:10):
mostly done.
All I have to do is throw somepillows on the bed, that's nice.
Yeah, have an easy breakfast.
This could be.
Grab a protein bar or a proteinshake or the left, the remnants
of your child's toast, whateverit needs to be, just put
something in your stomach.
I'm an intermittent faster so Idon't always do this, but I do
(09:34):
a big, big glass of water and ithelps with me being hungry in
the morning.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
I'm really bad at
that.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
It's not easy.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
My breakfast every
day is two cups of coffee.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yeah, it happens, but
if you can, I normally eat
around like 10 o'clock.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
I'm like, oh, I'm
kind of hungry.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Oh, that's because
all I put in the last five hours
is coffee, exactly.
Yeah, get your daily to-do listtogether.
That's a nice one.
I personally am not a morningto-do list person.
It does not work for me.
I recommend doing this beforeyou leave work or before you
walk away from your desk or endwork for the day, so you don't
(10:13):
forget stuff.
I have a notebook next to mydesk.
I go through it, I write downall the things that haven't
gotten done or I update myselfon the status.
Even though my company has adigital task management system,
it just helps me to have thepaper one so that I see the work
, and it also helps me keeptrack of the work between the
(10:35):
work which sounds kind of weirdto say, but there's always work
between the work, right?
I also am someone who keepssticky notes in as many places
as possible, so that when anidea comes to me, I have an
option to write it down, andthen I will go stick it on my
keyboard right, so that it's ina place I have to look at it,
(10:56):
and then I move that sticky noteonto that notebook page and it
stays there, and then I have towrite it on the notebook page
later.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
I have started
texting myself because there's a
commercial where the guy's like, why are you texting yourself?
And or like it's him answeringhimself.
And he's like, oh, because Ihave an idea and I want to
remember it.
And they're making fun of that.
Yeah, because they are sellingsome kind of organizational tool
which, of course, like I, wouldbuy and then not use.
So I've just been textingmyself and putting it on unread
(11:28):
and I'm like, oh, I got amessage, oh, it's me.
Oh it's me, hi, leslie.
It was reminding me to pick upsomething.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
You're doing great.
I love you.
Bye, yeah, okay, so that's ifyou have 15 minutes, if you have
30 minutes, this is not 30minutes to get ready, this is 30
minutes to spare.
I want to make that very clear.
This one was one of myfavorites.
A five-minute stretch they saidstretching, I said.
Five-minute stretch.
(11:55):
Yeah, listen to a loved podcastor playlist Moments of
meditation or prayer orgratitude, whatever that looks
like for you.
This one was smart.
Take dinner out of the freezer, defrost your protein if that's
what you're going to do.
This one I thought was awesomeDingle Bear.
(12:20):
I don't even want to talk aboutthat name, dingle Bear.
I like to lay out my comfyclothes that I'm going to put on
at the end of the day in a niceway.
Something about choosing theitems and visually seeing the
clothes laid out gives mesomething to look forward to and
work towards during the day.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Okay, that is amazing
.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Right.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
So now that I work
from home, I don't necessarily
need to put out comfy clothesfor the end of the day.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
But even just like
throwing your bathrobe on the
bed, right you?
Speaker 1 (12:52):
get it Right.
Exactly that's actually whatI've been doing is making sure
my robe is like in plain view,so that I'm like, oh my gosh,
Pretty soon I get to put on thatrobe, it's going to be so great
.
Okay, If you have 45 minutes ormore to spare exercise Cannot
(13:13):
emphasize this enough.
Something about getting it donein the morning before you go
and do other things feels reallygood.
Now, I hate waking up early, but I will wake up early to go
for my walk.
You know I do this.
I get up at like five so that Ican get up, go on my walk and
then come back and then I do theother things.
(13:35):
It just it's crazy, but it itfeels so much better to start my
day that way.
Yeah, Tidy or clean.
One small thing Unload thedishwasher so you don't have to
do it tonight when you get home.
Start or move a load of laundry.
I am notorious for starting aload of laundry at night and
then people tell you like it'sokay to leave clothes in the
(13:58):
dryer overnight they're notgoing to get bacteria overnight
and then just move them into thedryer in the morning.
What I really like to do ishave them moved into the dryer
the night before and then I kindof tumble them for like 10 or
15 minutes just to get thewrinkles out, and then I like to
have my husband fold thelaundry and then I can do.
If the dryer is empty, I'm morelikely to start another load.
(14:20):
I don't know what it is, but I,just I.
If the dryer has stuff in it,I'm like no, forget it.
I'm not doing it right now.
It's the completion of the task.
I hate it.
Forget it.
I'm not doing it right now.
It's the completion of the task.
I hate it.
Okay, Enjoy a shower, Not takea shower.
Enjoy a shower An extra fiveminutes in the shower.
That might feel really good ifyou have an extra 45 minutes,
(14:40):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Now, if you're 13,
how many 13 year olds are
listening to this?
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Do you need the extra
45 minutes?
Or because I'm not convincedthat abby has extra time?
No man, she enjoys a shower.
Okay, this is tips for adults.
I don't know how many 13 yearolds are listening to this, but
but if you are listening, take ashorter shower, abigail.
So like every once in a while, just just just like turn it off
an extra three minutes early.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Take a 35 minute
shower every day.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
That's not just my
eight year old likes to do stuff
like that too, and I will likepeek in and I'm like, are you
washing?
And he's like, yeah, nine timesout of 10, he's sitting on the
floor just like feeling the hotwater.
Yep, um, I liked this one.
Oh wait, let me hold on.
Let me go back to this showerthing.
What I mean by enjoy a shower?
do something like put like ashower steamer in there like
(15:42):
those, just something else thatmakes it feel a little bit more.
I like the word luxurious.
Today we're using that word.
Okay, Okay, this one fromAutomatic Parsley 833.
The names that come up.
I know people just like letReddit generate the names, but
they're just ridiculous.
Savor my beverage of choicewhile journaling Now.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
I want to go back to
the name thing, because this is
not automatic parsley, it'sautomatic parsley 833.
Does that mean that there's 832other automatic parsnips?
Speaker 1 (16:15):
There very well could
be, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Okay, sorry, all
right, I'm just thinking.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
Yeah.
So here's the thing thatbothers me about this.
I am a terrible journalerbecause I don't know what I'm
supposed to write about and Ineed a prompt, and the same
prompts, over and over and, overand over and over again, get
really boring for me and then Ijust lose interest.
So I would need some other wayto manage this.
(16:40):
I do like the savor, mybeverage of choice, because the
number of people who have toldme that they will get up an
extra 15 minutes early just tosit and have their coffee in the
quiet, where they just stare atthe wall and drink their coffee
and love it, is an infinityloop.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Like everyone, talks
about doing that.
So this is what I do.
I wake up at enough time for meto go downstairs and we have
the automatic coffee pot.
Go downstairs, I pour myself acup in a mug.
I drink my coffee from the mugon the couch alone While it's
hot.
While it's hot, and then whenI'm driving to work, I have it
(17:24):
in a travel tumbler and that'smy second cup.
So what I said, I've had twocups of coffee for breakfast.
That's pretty much it, but Ialways have or I try to always
have one cup by myself.
It takes about five minutes tojust sit there and drink it
quietly on my own.
Nobody's awake yet.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Yeah, I love that.
Something about the alone pieceis just really, to me, the best
part of that, right, okay, sothose are some tips that are
time related.
Here are some other things thatI took from the list and added
to myself that might help youstart your day off on the right
foot.
Lots of people recommendedlistening to music or podcasts.
(18:07):
Um, I, if you're a music personand not a podcast person, I
highly recommend creatingplaylists that are the same
length as the amount of timethat you have to spare, or
otherwise.
Right, oh, that's cool.
So if you know that when thiscertain song comes on, you've
got five minutes left, like that, that really is helpful.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
I mean, that's what
like people who lead exercise
classes do.
Yes, exactly Like they knowwhen this song comes on, it's
time to start cooling down, orwhatever.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yep, exactly.
I also would highly recommendprogramming whatever AI devices
you have in your house to beable to play them and start them
as soon as that time starts, asin like hey, Betty, play my 45
minute playlist.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
That's cool.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Notice.
I'm saying Betty, because I dohave those devices in my house
and I don't want it to triggermine or anyone else's, so that's
why I'm calling it Betty.
Hilarious.
Okay, from Broken Penzels witha Z.
I take away all my decisions asmuch as I can.
Breakfast is planned, mine isready to go because I eat at
(19:20):
work, I have my outfit pickedand then when I wake up, I have
time to stretch and do somethingI love for 10 minutes Word
games, geography quiz somethingthat makes me happy.
I love the idea of taking awayall your decisions in the
morning by preparing them thenight before.
I'm a night before person, sojust saying that this person
also said I like to prep thenight before by wiping down my
(19:41):
kitchen and starting thedishwasher, so my morning cup of
coffee isn't stressful andcluttered.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
I agree.
I agree.
I hate it when I comedownstairs and the living room
is a wreck and the kitchen is amess.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
That doom pile of
crap on my counter.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
We are lots of throw
blankets people.
Our coffee table has storageand it's just full of blankets,
but the deal is like I want themfolded and put away after the
evening and my children arechildren and sometimes that just
doesn't happen.
Yeah, so I'll come downstairsand there's like 19 blankets all
(20:21):
over the couch and pillows areeverywhere.
I'm like but yeah, if you takea five minute, tidy everything
away the night before and I comedownstairs and the house is
tidy, it feels great.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
It feels really good
this one severalemergency26.
I'm not a morning person and ittakes me a while to adjust to
bright lights and noise, sowhile I'm getting ready for work
, I light a candle and use lowlighting in the bathroom along
with playing a chill piano musicstation.
It's a much more peaceful wayto start the day.
That I thought was very, veryhelpful this person.
(20:58):
I like to shower in the darktoo.
Showering in the dark feels good.
Why, I don't know why, but itdoes, I love it.
Yeah, I don't need to seeanything.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
I got a headlamp
because I miss spots when I'm
shaving my legs.
Stop it, and he's like.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
I got you a
waterproof headlamp so you can
still shower in the dark butwhen it's time for you to shave
your legs, you can get all ofthe hair.
This is marriage, folks.
This person Eel the Boat.
Hi, I have a baby.
So a bit different, but I likeour routine.
We're up at seven.
Nappy change I love nappy.
Why didn't nappy catch on inthe States?
Nappy change and feed.
(21:36):
Go downstairs.
She sits in the bouncer andwatches me empty the dishwasher
and clean some bits in thekitchen, make my breakfast and
coffee.
I love this time to clean whileshe happily watches.
It gets us off to a good start.
I feel like cleaning thekitchen in the morning cleans my
head.
It's just something about liketidying just feels good for a
lot of people and I love that.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
she's like there's a
baby here with her baby, I know
like, but like but my morningwhen I have a baby was like,
okay, try and figure out whattime of day it is Right and what
day of the week um, make suremy shirt is pulled down because
I'm nursing right.
Feel around in the kitchen tosee if I can find an empty mug
(22:18):
and fill it with coffee, right?
Speaker 1 (22:21):
plead with the, with
the great spaghetti monster, to
give me more sleep and, uh, andhope the baby's not screaming.
Okay, okay, I liked this one alot.
Easy Platform 6963 wrote.
Shower before screens has beenmy mantra for the new year.
What?
Why is that one so great?
(22:45):
I love that one Love.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
I want this for my
entire family shower before
screens.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
What an interesting,
amazing way to start your day
that you've done all theself-care hygiene things before
even considering picking up yourphone.
I love that yeah, I think it'sgreat.
And then this is my last one.
This is from super g j I.
(23:13):
I hope that's how you say it um, I don't think it matters
whatever I don't, I'm justgiving credit where credit is
due, okay, no, that's what I'msaying, is you?
Speaker 2 (23:21):
just read the name
out loud.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
If we said it wrong,
they'll correct us they're not
listening um achieve a win ofany form.
It could be either mental, physical or spiritual.
Make the bed Some sort of winfor yourself, something that
helps you feel accomplished thatearly in the day.
Well, and name it right.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Yes, here's my win
this morning.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
And that can be your
affirmation.
Here's my win this morning.
Why not?
Who else?
It's like when you write onyour to-do list something you've
already done and you cross itoff.
It feels good.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
My mom always starts
her list with make a list as
soon as you finish a list.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
You get to cross it
off.
That's amazing, hilarious andamazing.
I love it.
Okay, so that was more than 20something tips.
I'm going to list all these outon the blog so, if you want to,
you can take them, copy andpaste them, add them to a
checklist.
I don't know what you want todo with them, but they'll all be
on the blog post for thisepisode, so go check it out

The best part of
waking up is Caitlin in your cup
.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
You are not drinking
me, I am Nevermind.
There's something inappropriatethat I could say right there,
but I'm just going to say I'mbetter than Folgers.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Wow.
That's amazing, so good.
Okay, you are not drinking me,okay.
So let me talk about what I amdrinking.
Lately, and it was an accident,so we spent a lot of time
talking about coffee in themorning.
It's a big part of my day, yes,um, and we use the um grocery
(25:34):
order tool okay, yes, I love, sure, every once in a while
we'll run in and like, grabsomething that's I don't tell.
I'm not like, oh, I never go inthe grocery store like that's
not it.
But we, I order for the week ata time, mostly because I'll buy
less if I do the curbside order, because then I'm just, I'm not
in the store, I'm not seeingthings, I'm not throwing things
in the cart Right, and I take abetter advantage of what's on
(25:58):
sale, because I start by goingthrough the flyer and say like,
oh, we can have this becauseit's on sale.
Okay, so anyhow, we neededcoffee beans, and the last time
that we needed coffee beans theysubbed them with decaf.
No, and not.
Okay.
You know, they send you a textlike hey, we had to make some
(26:19):
substitutions.
I was like x, no, no, no no, no, we don't.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Who would do that to
someone?
We don't put that poison in ourhouse.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
So anyhow, I marked
the next time do not sub with
decaf.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Who would Like?
Why would that?
Speaker 2 (26:38):
ever be okay.
I don't know who did that.
I don't know who did that.
I guess the bag looked the sameand they're like, oh, this is
the same stuff they want theflavor.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
They don't want the
caffeine.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
No, I'm like guys no,
I need the drug Right.
I said do not sub with decaf.
Well, they did substitute it,but it wasn't decaf, so I was
like it's fine.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
It's fine.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
It's just another
kind of bean.
I'm okay with it.
What I didn't see was that theysubbed it with espresso roast.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Okay, you do not need
espresso and John and.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
I have been drinking
full size mugs of espresso for a
week, full-size mugs ofespresso for a week.
It is my first week back toschool when we are recording
this after the holidays, so it'sbeen fine, because I, because
you need it, I need it, so it'sbeen great.
I'm like, oh, this has beenback to school, it's been so
(27:33):
easy.
I'm kind of tired in theafternoons, but that's fine.
In the morning I'm good.
Oh good, yeah Well, and John'sbeen having a cup in the
afternoon like he normally does,oh no.
And not being able to go tosleep at night, oh, okay.
When we refilled the hopper, helooked at the bag and he was
like Jen, we've been drinkingtumblers of espresso.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Oh, that's literally
the last thing you need you, oh,
that's literally the last thingyou need.
You do not need tumblers ofespresso, right, right, isn't
that funny, don't did I tell you?
So my dad, my dad is a sticklerfor a deal.
I think everyone's dad is astickler for a deal, right?
And then if they get the deal, they'll tell you, like, I only
paid this much money for it, forthe entire existence of the
(28:15):
product, right?
So my dad somehow, through, like his years of service at his
job, where they gave him somesort of monetary bonus and
discount codes, managed to get abreville, those, those high-end
coffee machines.
Um, he had like four cups ofespresso in the morning and was
(28:37):
like my mom goes, he's bouncing, like he's my dad already like
has ADHD and is like a veryactive person and he's like
vibrating, like okay.
So that's my dad drinking fourof those.
I'm thinking about you and Johnhaving your mug in the morning
and a tumbler of it, right?
Oh, y'all, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
So we've been cutting
it of it, right, oh y'all, no,
no, no, no.
So we've been cutting it withwater, yeah, because like it's
still coffee, right.
So we're now drinkingAmericanos.
We're so fancy, but really like, for the first three or four
days this week I was like man,I'm feeling good, back to school
, everything's oh wait.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
I've been drinking
espresso by the tumbler uh, my
heartbeat is that of ahummingbird right now, but
that's okay, I'm fine, it's allgreat, oh man, okay.
Well, mine is my sister's newkitten.
So first of all, I have sisterswho have these most adorable
pets.
My sister's dog name is nokie, like the pasta that's a great
name for a dog and he's like anitalian water dog or something
like that.
(29:40):
He's really, really cute and hehas like curly little hair.
He's adorable.
My other sister just got a newbaby eight-week-old scottish
fold kitten.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
I don't even know
what that is.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
It's the kind of
kitten that has the ears that
are folded down and he alwayslooks sad, like he just has like
this little like, like, likesad eye expression.
I'm obsessed.
My entire sister chat on myphone is just like pictures of
cats pictures of cats andpictures of puppy, and I'm
obsessed with all of it.
I'm like what is the kitten'sname?
(30:12):
So she hasn't settled on a nameyet.
We thought it was was going tobe Larry, as in Larry David,
because old man names suit thiscreature.
Oh yeah, that's lovely.
Then we thought about Frank.
Okay, she wanted to end with anE.
I kind of thought the nameMonkey would be really cute
(30:33):
because he just looks, I don'tknow, monkey just made me happy.
But it might end up beingGeorge, so that she can call him
Georgie.
Okay, yes, but he needs alittle old man name and he's so
cute, he's so cute, okay.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Tell her to like look
up famous gangsters Right Like
a lot of them have like Tony.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Yeah, he doesn't feel
like a Tony, he feels like a
weird.
No, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
I would not go.
Tony, that's what I'm saying.
Look up famous gangsters, because you could probably find
one that the whole name could be, you know, frankie the blah,
blah, blah.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
And then she can just
call him Frankie or whatever.
Yeah, you're right, I like thatidea.
Okay, what about gems?
Speaker 2 (31:17):
Okay so my sister is
also an assistant principal at a
middle school.
Amazing, it's really funny.
Our careers are so similar.
We taught together for fiveyears.
She went off and became aprincipal before me.
But, like we, we really do havea lot of parallels in our
(31:38):
teaching lives.
And so she texted me on mybirthday and said happy birthday
.
And at our school we have arule that if it's your birthday
you don't have lunch duty.
So I hope that you had a dutyfree day.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Nice, I like that and
.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
I texted her back and
said it was actually better
than not having duty because theweather was so mucky.
And said it was actually betterthan not having duty because
the weather was so mucky.
We had indoor recess and I gotto run trivia for a prize that
the kids all want the privilegeto wear sweatpants.
Yes, trivia for sweatpants.
Instead of having the lunchperiod off, I got to be the
(32:15):
center of attention perfect.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
That's exactly what
you wanted for your birthday.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
That's exactly what I
wanted, and my rock star
husband sent me flowers duringlunch, so the receptionist
brought them down to thecafeteria and presented them to
me in front of all the students.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
It was great.
Did they sing happy birthday orlike cheer or anything they did
?
Speaker 2 (32:36):
They sang happy
birthday to me on three separate
occasions during the day.
I love it it was wonderful, butit was too funny Like oh, I had
even better than off.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Yeah, that's amazing.
I got to be the host for theevening, right, okay, well, I'll
make Trivia for sweatpants.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
Yeah, I like it.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Walking to middle
school in a uniform.
Uh, everybody move your feetand feeling naughty.
That's not the words, that'show my son sings it.
That's hilarious.
So if you haven't heard, moveyour feet by junior, senior in a
while there you go.
That's not the right way.
You're better off listening tothe version in trolls.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
So whatever, Anyway
that's it.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Y'all set your alarm
back five minutes.
Make some good choices, takecare of yourself.
Yeah, that's.
I don't have anything else tosay.
We'll see you later.
Bye.
