(00:06):
How? Many.
Licks. Now, the making of a good
compilation tape is a very subtle art.
Many do's and don'ts. First of all, you're using
someone else's poetry to expresshow you feel.
This is a delicate thing. You got to kick it off with a
killer grab attention. Then you got to take it up

(00:27):
enough. I don't want to fill you up, so
then you got to cool it off a notch.
There are a lot of rules. Have you seen the?
Can you recite the whole thing? Of course I have.
Can you recite it? I can't recite the whole thing,
but I know a lot of them. I say, I say hell yeah, dude,

(00:48):
all the time. And nobody ever knows that I'm
referencing banana bread becauseit's a pretty, I mean, it's hell
yeah. Pretty.
Pretty basic thing to say. Fucking Cubs or itching your eye
and it's still fucking itchy, dude.
But when you go to work and there's banana bread.
At work, bro. Hell yeah.

(01:10):
Made banana bread today. Is that good?
Banana bread. Dude, it's a cinnamon sugar
banana bread. I had some bananas that were
past our prime, so we made some banana bread today.
It's like a cinnamon sugar banana bread.
Outside best time to make it, It's the best time to make it.
Those over at Bananas. Yeah.
Absolutely incredible. How's your weekend, Ben?
It's been good. I mean, a lot of working on the

(01:32):
podcast, a lot of work I just kind of been working.
Went to went to a Lord of the Rings BBQ last night which was
just. Go on.
It was just a the weather's beennice.
So bunch of friends were like, I'm going to we're going to have
a cookout and then we're going to watch one of the Lord of the
Rings movies. Which one?

(01:52):
It was the third one, So return to the King, but I guess it's
because they had another get together a while back where they
watched Fellowship and then and What's.
Your favorite of the three? Either Fellowship or two towers.
The second one. Yeah, I.
Think it's the second one. Well, that's what they did
during the Super Bowl while we were Did we record that day?

(02:14):
No, we didn't. No, we were going to.
But that that fring group they all went to like there was a
movie theater in town that showed 2 towers so they all
dressed up as Lord of the rings characters and went.
Sure they did to it. They did.
I mean, into it, man, into it. It was a good time, though.
Like, you know, kebabs and burgers and sausage balls and.
For the Lord of the Rings. I made some, I made AI made a

(02:36):
Mordor cocktail, and I made a Shire cocktail.
Oh tell. Me about the Mordor cocktail.
It tasted like fire and smoke. Oh yeah, and I put like
activated charcoal in it so it was black, you know?
You know when you know I don't half ass things over here, Don.
Don't half ass only hold us. A couple of things.
When Game of Thrones was all therage I would do Game of Thrones

(02:58):
parties and I made night night king cocktails with blue
kool-aid. I don't drink, but I had a hell
of a time making them. Did you get the color just
right? Yeah, it was pretty good.
And then I made Sansa's lemon cakes.
Sansa always had a big She's a big fan of lemon cakes.
You ever get in any collectiblesoutside of vinyl?

(03:22):
I mean, I have in the past I, I never really got into like the
vinyl toys and stuff like you did the pop, the pop things,
right? Yeah.
This is going to be my tie back to that.
Yeah, it's been a while. Like I I I have the collecting
bug but I know it and so I only collect like one or two things.
That's a smart move. So when Game of Thrones was that
it's peak popularity is when I first started collecting.

(03:47):
Well, actually when Game of Thrones first started, I started
pretty early on, maybe season one or two per Reno and Runge's
suggestion. I started pretty early and
started collecting Funko Pops pretty early on into the Game of
Thrones and then I was smart enough to sell the Funko pops.
At the peak Game of Thrones I had a a shit ton.

(04:08):
I probably had a hundred OK, andI think I ended up selling the
whole collection for close to 10grand.
Whoa. Yeah, I had one specifically
that was worth about $3000. Wow.
Yeah, it was bananas. And then I did a bunch of shit
to my truck. Like a real fucking bro really

(04:30):
brought it up. Yeah, no, I like, I, I collect
vinyl and then, I mean, nobody talks about it like it's
collecting, but let's be honest, like I have a clothing addiction
and that's no different than collecting stuff.
Like I don't like getting rid ofstuff even though I don't wear
it. I just got rid of a bunch of
shoes. I bet you got a lot of kits, you
got a lot of jerseys. I do.
I do. And I hardly ever wear any of

(04:51):
them. But I do collect.
Yeah. So I do collect the well, I
don't want to get rid of them like, because.
Yes, because they're like collectors items, you know?
I really, I'm going to commit this spring to a declutter, like
I have got to declutter my placebecause it is just, there's just
shit everywhere, dude. It's, it's more or less like I

(05:12):
am a grown adult man that lives in a 20 year old man's apartment
that now has access to adult money versus 20 year old kid
money. So it's just bullshit.
It's just full of bullshit. Yeah, I moved around the country
like three times and then then got a divorce.
So that was there was a lot of natural.

(05:33):
Doubt. A lot of natural times to get
rid of that you don't need anymore, but it does feel good.
Yeah, I can't wait for spring warm weather.
We got a taste of it in Chicago last week and then this weekend
was fucking brutal. Dude.
Did you get real cold this weekend?
It. Didn't get real cold but it
dropped like 15° in one one night and got real windy and

(05:55):
stuff but it was. Like 19 in Chicago yesterday.
It's so frigging cold. No, it's like 30.
Mid 30s here now but it was likeupper 60s all week.
Hell yeah. So spring's peaking its head
out, you know. Peek at spring sprung out.
Spring sprung. It's it's trying to sprung.
It's trying what? About you.
What'd you do this? I mean, I made banana bread, but
did you do anything else with this weekend, with your weekend

(06:16):
adventures? What other?
What else? I mean, Lord of the Rings BBQ,
what else? Yeah.
I mean, I went to like one of those.
Do you ever go to the makers markets around like Chicago and
stuff? Oh, hell yeah.
We've got a couple of great ones.
Christian has been to the one uphere a couple of times.
And I mean, he, he always like, you know, shows up to impress
every time. Yeah.
Crushes it, but yeah, we've got a couple of great makers markets

(06:37):
in Chicago. You went to one.
Tell me about. It, yeah, I went to one.
It's there's a lot of them here, every brewery in town.
And there's like 40 breweries inthe city built, you know, they
kind of cycle through them. But yeah, I met a couple of
friends and hung out at the Makers Market that day.
No, I almost did, but I caught myself.
I was responsible. I was like I do I need this

(06:58):
though? What were you out for?
Do I need this? I wasn't out for anything.
I was just kind of like, you know what's there?
There was a candle. There was like a local candle
maker. There always is.
But this guy's candles, he was, he's on to something.
He's on to something. He's on fire.
Yeah, he's on fire. Yeah.
What I liked about his candles too, is like, they were in

(07:19):
really nice, like really nice vessels.
So like, in my mind I was like, oh, once that's candle's gone,
if I can clean that up really good, that'd be a really nice
little like coffee cup. Or something.
You know, but. We've got some great ceramic
makers. In.
The Chicago makers markets greatceramics.
There's a dude that makes plywood cuckoo clocks that are

(07:42):
so frigging cool. And every time I see them I'm
like, I'm going to buy one of those cuckoo clocks next time.
And then I walk in. I'm like, oh, I don't want to
spend that much money, right? Now, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I I've actually had my eye out for some good ceramics lately.
I've got some new furniture thatI need need to decorate and I've
been looking for some like nice ceramic pieces, but it's it's
expensive man, rightfully so that's not like a quality like I

(08:04):
just it's a commitment to buy like large ceramic pieces.
I'm. Going to send you some good
local Chicago ceramic. Ceramic tears.
Ceramic tears please. Ceramicists.
Sure, people that I'm going to send you some nice people that
make ceramics. Potters.
Some nice people that make ceramics in Chicago.
Yeah, what about you? What'd you do besides make

(08:25):
banana bread? Yesterday was Saturday, kicked
off the day with a five mile run.
Cold as shit. Came home with a frozen beard
trying to get back into like thethe run cadence for sure.
But like I was I running inside his torture.
Treadmills suck but I love running outside so I'm trying to
get back into like an outdoor running cadence and it's fucking
cold and so that sucks. Got my taxes done.

(08:46):
Nice, I got that done this week too.
Me and Joni, we'll go get our taxes done together.
We got a guy, it's adorable, an accountant.
Then we celebrated with Mexican food after we got our taxes
done. Fantastic.
Which was absolutely lovely. The local taqueria.
And then I did I tell you I'm watching ER?
Yeah, you said you're re watching ER dude.
It's so fucking good they were on to something back in 1995.

(09:10):
Yeah, yeah. Well, there's a reason it was so
huge. And last, they were on to
something. It's in like it like, you know,
some of those 1995 TV shows do not withstand the test of time.
ER absolutely holds up. It is very good.
I'm watching. I'm so I've gotten back on the
on the horse of working out, too.
I worked out five times this week.
And I didn't watch you. I'm.
Watching right now I'm watching the the new Lord of the Rings

(09:34):
movie The Animated. Movie.
Theaters, the war or whatever, it's all right.
It's like anime style. Yeah.
Yeah, it's cool. So I've been watching that.
And then you're watching some new catching up on some TV
shows. But I'm watching so many TV
shows right now. Did you watch the Pit?
Nope. That's all the rage.
OK, no. I just watched that 11000 blow.

(09:56):
1000 blows. It's like a, it's like 19th
century England, like London. And this is like Jamaican
brothers who immigrate there. They think they have a job and
they don't. And then they end up having to
like box to make money and like underground boxing rings.
But then also it's a. Show and.

(10:19):
Then I also have to do a little bit of crime, you know, it's,
it's, it's like, it's like Snatch meets Peaky Blinders.
Oh, cool, that sounds good. Yeah, today's the Golden Globes.
Oscars, I thought. Academy Awards, Yeah.
Academy Awards Oscars Academy Awards are the same thing.
Yes. OK.
Have you watched any of the movies?

(10:39):
I honestly the best picture nominees, I have not watched a
single one this year, dude. Which I need to, I need to.
And I really I've had Conclave on my list forever.
This afternoon I watched Substance.
Did you and dude, dude. It is something else.
What an incredible storyline fora movie kind of sci-fi kind of

(11:02):
thriller kind of gore flick is the best way I can describe it.
sci-fi thriller gore. It's a fucking it's 1/2 hour too
long. It kind of goes a little
Nosferatu E where it's it's definitely longer than it needs
to be. And it takes some, really,
there's a bunch of pretty big plot holes where I'm like, wait
a minute, this is not allowed. And then like, based on the

(11:25):
rules that the movie has outlined, what is happening is
not allowed. But man, is it, it is a crazy
fucking movie. Holy shit, it was crazy.
Not a Sunday afternoon watch, that's for sure.
I take that back, I saw, so Bestpicture nominees, there's
123456789. There's 10 movies nominated for
Best Picture. I didn't know there were that
many. I did see Dune Part 2.

(11:45):
I did see Enora and I did see Wicked.
So I I saw, I've seen three of them.
Oh hell yeah, I haven't seen Wicked yet.
Still waiting. It's gonna be on.
It's. Great.
It's it's on Disney Plus right now.
I just saw it today. Do you have Disney Plus?
I do. Or maybe it was on Peacock
today. I was on something today and it
was already up. So yeah, I wanna, I wanna see

(12:06):
the Brutalist and I wanna see Conclave comments.
The Brutalist is supposed to be incredible.
That's the one that's supposed to clean suite.
What movie should we? I haven't seen the new Nosferatu
yet. That's streaming too.
People need to comment and let us know which ones are worth
watching 'cause that's The thingis like I love like an artsy
movie. I love like a deep movie.
But I what I, what I don't like at this point in my life, like I

(12:29):
have anything better to do. This makes it sound like my
everything I do is so important. But what I don't like is when I
get 2 hours into a movie, I'm just like man, I'm just not into
this. I'm just really into this, you
know? So I need people to tell me what
to watch. Just tell me.
All right, anniversary episode. I haven't finished it yet.

(12:50):
Yeah. Are you enjoying it though?
It's good. It's very good.
It's a weird question to ask somebody who is a part of
recording it, I guess. Yeah, that's true.
I feel like it's good. I I, I feel like it's good
because of the people's contributions.
Not, not anything that we fucking did. 100% but we were
asked some really good questionsand we got some really good like

(13:10):
audio clips from people and had a fun time with it.
I had a great time. So I, I hope people keep
enjoying the podcast. And with that said, we're going
to set a milestone tonight. So let's get the.
Let's get the guest in. Oh yeah, yeah, milestone.
Set the milestone. Do you like little gimmicks?

(13:32):
I can make that happen for you. How was that?
No, we need to know like what isit?
So I make stickers for people and companies alike.
Been working with tattoo shops and clothing brands making their
stickers for them. So if you have a small business
or a tattoo shop or a clothing brand or a podcast that you want
to advertise for, there's big things from little gimmicks and

(13:54):
the fact that you haven't used that once.
And the tagline for the Instagram is a fucking
abomination. See, I'm purposely not doing
that. I don't want you to have any
stamp on what I'm actually trying to accomplish here.
What a Dick. Doug, if they mentioned how to
make a mixtape podcast, what do they?
Get they get 10% off their order.
There we go doug@littlegimmicks.com.
That's the best way for me to see your request.

(14:16):
Big things from little gimmicks.Buy some stickers, maybe B
minus, sometimes good, sometimesmaybe shit.
I've loved our stickers. I slapped those things on a lot
of urinals and they they've. Been fucking great.
Hold up, hold up to piss. Great.
There's your average. There's your new tagline.
That's the that's the advertisement.
That's that, That's the tagline.Little gimmicks they hold up to
piss great. How to?

(14:42):
Make mix tape. Second year in first ever three
time guest Jessica Wilson. She's back.
Are there costume changes for this?
Yeah, the same way there were inthe last one.
No, it's just one costume changeand.
Yeah, but do you know that it was like my favorite moment of

(15:03):
the pod ever of the last one? What?
The last one. Of the last one you were on was
my favorite moment of your second time being on the pod.
Yeah, no different dynamics thistime around.
Big guy? Yeah, you look, I said.
You look like you were dressed for success.
You look like you're ready to shoot a LinkedIn profile
picture. It's a chore coat and you look

(15:25):
like. You're scoping out a bank to rob
it next week. Thank you.
I mean and I look a bit of. I I haven't given burglar vibes.
You are given time burglar vibes.
Big time burglar vibes like likeyou've got like a super zoom
camera with you, then you're you're hiding and you know

(15:46):
building I. Look like if you were to play a
theme song for me right now, it would be International Super Spy
by the Backyard against Rod. Will you find a clip of that and
put it into the? You got it, buddy.
Yeah. I I I live to put clips in these

(16:12):
these shows. Yeah, that's what this is
actually really good. So I didn't send in a question,
but I have been watching your anniversary episode and then I
just watched listen to the one with Meg.
So I've been listening to you guys a lot and I didn't send in
a voice clip. I did just want to check in

(16:33):
first year in like just touch base, like on the relationship
side, you know, like I've been spending a lot of time with you
guys separately. Maybe this is a good time to
like talk about your this relationship.
Jess and I went and had a delicious pasta dinner the last
time I was in Vancouver. Yeah, I think Rod maybe feels
how come he's not getting past the dinners, you know, and
that's what I want to address. Wait, what?

(16:55):
Dine out? That was the call.
It was dine out. Dine out.
We went out, we went out for fucking dine out and then what?
Did we do? Like always, he dragged my ass
to the casino with what he callsfunny money.
Yeah. And I've never, I've never had a
a pasta dinner with you. See, this is what I've never.
Been to the casino with you? Yeah, I think he's.

(17:17):
Jealous. We did.
We did make plans to get tattooed.
Well, we did not even plans we we've theoretically talked about
the possibility. So you guys are going to do it.
I love that. Maybe prisoner of love?
We got really excited about it. Amazing.
Yeah, Prisoner of Love holding the cassette.
Nailing it. We've got we're you're coming

(17:38):
out for that murder by Death show too, so we've got some
mandates. Oh yeah, I should probably put
that on my calendar. What are the dates I should?
Yeah, yeah. Don't forget to put it on the.
Calendar. It's because we've been here
before. You said you were putting it on
the calendar and you didn't. Paper calendar.
Look at him What? What's on the calendar?
Don, What's on the calendar? Like.
Like what theme is like what? Oh, there's no pictures?

(18:01):
I thought it was going to be like one of those like cute
puppies. No, no, it's a desktop counter.
Disc golf or. Murder by death with Rod.
The men of disc golf. 26. Down.
There, yeah, happy that he's locking it in, putting dates and
information down. By death.
Planning. Just too dear.
I appreciate the relationship counseling, Jess, it's you guys.

(18:22):
Are welcome. It's nice to hear you.
Know some say that the first year is all.
We're out of the honeymoon phase.
Sunshine roses, you guys out of the honeymoon phase we're.
Past the honeymoon phase, yeah. Guys had a first big fight yet
no. No.
It's it's, it's looming. I got a text.
I got a text from Shane yesterday.

(18:43):
He was listening to the love songs episode and he said, I
just got to tell you, I don't know why they gave you shit for
that Iconopop pic. You're dead on with that thing.
So. Oh, what?
The Charlie XCX song? Yeah.
You want to know why? See, I got people coming to my
defense, Don. Because it ain't that good.
Look at this. Well, let me tell you what is
that good? It's the list of songs that I

(19:04):
have for today's episode. All right, what's, what's the
theme? What's the theme, Jess?
Well, in honor of me being the best feature.
I wish you would have just stopped in honor of me.
You know, and the 3P best features, but I'll tell you what
I I didn't sleep very well last night and I've reconfigured what

(19:27):
I was going to do today and I I still don't feel good about it.
I think every single like theme that I've picked has been too
big so. Every theme is too big.
Except for songs with the word red in the title.
Every theme is too big. Just like every I thought.
You guys. But there was a million songs.
There was a million songs. That was love in the title.

(19:48):
Hey, I loved it. It was a fun one.
Bad. It was bad.
Great episode. So wait, did did you say what
the theme is you just said in honor of you?
That's all you. Yeah, I said in honor of me
being the best feature of this podcast.
The theme is best features on any song.
There we go. Taurus, how could it not be?
It's a three piece. Rods, rods, real rods, real

(20:11):
bunched up about what a feature is versus what a posse Trek is
and. I think that that's good and I
think that there may, there may be points of contention in this
because what is a feature versusjust like a duet?
How do you, you know, is it could a feature just be like
music? Could just be somebody playing
like a guitar ref? Is it a Muppet saying?

(20:34):
Like a funny little line? Like featuring Oscar the Grouch.
I have opinions. Do you have that?
Do you have a Sesame Street song?
No. Because my list is too big.
I don't know what's allowed. I don't know what's not allowed.
So we're gonna here's. Here's what I'm worried about.
I I am confident that all mine are true features.
I'm not confident that Donnie's not gonna try to pull out some

(20:54):
kind of like an entire band and another entire band together.
That's not a feature. That's, that's like a
collaboration. Uh huh.
So Jess knows exactly what I'm talking about.
You're a rule stretcher and and as a as a friend.
I love that about you. Fight Am I here for the first
big fight? As a friend, I love that about
you, Don. But as a, as a, as a podcast

(21:14):
counterpart. I would say, I would say so I
have 4 songs, absolutely all four features you're.
You're an ES, you're an ESTJ, aren't you?
So you shouldn't be a rule stretcher.
And yet you are. I have. 5 honorable mentions,
four of which I'm confident are features OK with.
The fifth one I'm not confident about, but we'll see.
Hopefully I don't even have to use any of my animal vengeance.

(21:36):
I think the other thing that I ran into is I feel like
traditionally just even the wordfeature makes you go or
gravitate towards like hip hop. So even finding other genres was
crazy hard for me. Yeah, I also thought something
that we really funny is that thetitle of this episode was We're
in Defeat, but it's spelled FEAT.

(21:57):
That's a really funny, I just laughed at it actually.
So amazing to me too. Tromboners, Donnie Good.
Right. So good.
I was walking my dog and I like heard it and he was like Oh my
God. It was so.
Funny. It was, it was good.
But then when he said he wanted to be a dancer and that dancer
has to be called the boner, thenI was all aboard.

(22:20):
Then I was all. You can't tell me that the
Tromboners isn't a great sky band name.
It's amazing. Especially.
So Sinatra, and I wish I knew itas a burn to call my sister when
I was younger. You.
Can start using it now. Way too old to be calling each

(22:41):
other stuff like that. It might try and let it RIP, you
know I. Don't know, the fact that you
guys are older and she's got kids now might make it funnier.
Like that's pretty. Good.
Yeah, I wish I knew it. You know what, here's the thing,
Skank Sinatra might be the most genius thing ever.
Because now somebody needs to doa ska themed Sinatra curve and
just because that name is so good.

(23:01):
Like the name doesn't exist. Creating the band makes that
name incredible. Do you want to start a Scott
cover band called Skank Sinatra? We got we got way too distracted
here, which is fine, but I just got to say here's the I I think
this just might be be an episodewhere if you feel strongly, we
can potentially veto somebody's pick.
I hope. I don't think it'll happen

(23:21):
because we're all too nice, but.Whoa, there is a skank Sinatra.
Is there? Yeah, well.
It's my sister. No, it's not.
It is a drag performer. Oh shit, that's good.
That's good. Oh, that's really good.
OK, I see what she did there. Skank Sinatra.

(23:44):
I feel like if there's more thantwo featured performers on a
song, then you're getting into posse posse track territory.
So I guess mine shit all. Right, keep on.
We'll see. I think it's debatable.
I think it depends on the. I think it depends on the genre
potentially. We'll see.
But OK, we'll see. I got rid of one on my list
'cause it was, it was too borderline.

(24:05):
I was like, I'm not gonna risk it, I'm gonna save it for a
different episode. So.
Yeah, that's kind of stuff. Has me pretty stressed out.
OK all. Right.
All right, You will show Jess, you wanna go over the rules?
Yeah, third timer and you're an expert.
Yeah, there's a lot, right? Yeah.
There is right number one, you got to have a killer opening
track that grabs listeners attention.
Did you fucking song? To each song should so slow

(24:28):
smoothly into the next, creatinga seamless listening experience
#3 The mixtape should have a good balance of different
genres, tempos, and moods. Bride keeps things interesting
#4 The mixtape should tell a story or convey an emotion.
It should take the listener on ajourney #5 it can't be obvious,

(24:49):
it can't be too obscure either, unless that's the theme.
Number six can't double up on songs by the same artist and
last name #7 the closing track should leave a lasting
impression and make the listenercrave more.
I did not send those to her and I've never been more proud.
Well well done, Jess. Like nobody's had nobody's

(25:09):
thought of it up to this point do.
You read it off the back of thatshirt.
She read it off your shirt. That's.
Like my shirt? Look at the look at the
advertising. Look at look at this.
It's a comfy shirt. It's a great.
Shirt. It's a comfy shirt available
right now on how to make a mixtape.com, you know.
What don't forget? Your secrets too.
That's one of the most impressive things anybody's done
on this podcast ever. So shit did you do wait until

(25:32):
you see my next? Well we got 2 new stickers so #1
is going to be the. Don't give it away.
Well, we talked. About the black metal font on
the last one. Yeah, we've got a surprise
sticker. The other sticker that I came up
with today? Well, we reference, we kind of
referenced it in the anniversaryepisode, but didn't call it a
sticker. We'll, we'll don't give it away.
Let's surprise people. Just gonna go first, second or

(25:52):
third. I'm gonna go first.
Shit. I'm confident you want to take
my one that I'm working. On, I have one that I think is
going to be somebody else is going to take.
So OK, Yep. All right, bring it on.
OK, I'm going to I'm going to start here because I feel like
that'll help me. This is one that like has been
on the list for pretty much the whole time.
So it's going to be what's Love Fat Joe featuring Ashanti.

(26:43):
That's a great song. That's a great one.
That's a great one, that. Was your first choice.
Just that I wanted to like, really lock in because I think
that it's a song that everybody loves.
It's a really great party track.It's a perfect time in people's
lives. Like that came out what year,
2000? It's a good time.
What happened to Ashanti? Listen to this.

(27:04):
I don't know. I'm the pop culture queen, OK?
He self-proclaimed. Go ahead.
David Nelly, which is also, you know, this realm of music,
Passover lapping for a while andthen stop dating.
And now 2023, they got married and had a baby.
They were like the. Yeah, it's like the real Yeah,

(27:28):
they're. Antiquing.
That's what it's called when youdate somebody that you dated and
then you don't date them for a while and you date them again.
It's called antiquing. Also how are you just going to
shout out that it's Ashanti and not also Ja Rule?
Yeah. Are you afraid that there's too
many features and it wouldn't qualify?
Aussie territory. It's only two.
No, it's only two. I think we we said more than
two. I think you're good here.

(27:48):
It's not a posse trek. I always thought did Nelly not
ever date Kelly Rowland was. I know they had the the song
together, but I was there was always.
She texted him in Excel. That yeah, she texted him in
Excel. They're just classic.
Classic moment. They're just that good of
actors. Yeah.
I mean, she she made everybody think she was texting when she
was actually in. Celtage on our sidekick.

(28:08):
So. I'd fucking kill for a sidekick
right now. Best phone I ever had.
But you guys aren't talking about Fat Joe, Joe Roll and
Ashanti. Sorry.
Yeah, sorry. What's Fat Joe up to these days?
Is he still doing his thing too? He's less fat.
He, oh, he, he, I, he was in thenews recently because he was
getting involved in the KendrickDrake beef.

(28:29):
Like not, not actually doing anything, just like talking, you
know, talking about. It he lost a bunch of weight.
He did. He looks good.
Look at him. Look at him with his mom on
Instagram here. You know, she's an audio podcast
and you can see what I'm seeing. Is he just Joe now?
He's. Just Joe.
It's still Fat Joe on Instagram, but.
OK, Slim dim. Oh, that's.

(28:51):
Slim Joe, don't look at that post.
Don't look at that post. Don't look at that post.
It's a great song. You're right.
This this takes you right back to like Y2K era.
This is that like every every big hip hop artist had like that
love song that they had to have an R&B singer on and that that's
not why don't they do that so much anymore?

(29:13):
I miss those days. I miss the R&B singer on the hip
hop songs. Yeah, you know.
Yeah, this song is going to comeback.
I I see a lot of people. What?
It's. Going to come back big time.
I don't know if you know, but like I have a 11 year old nephew
and he tries to tell me and maybe it's just the age we're at
and what we're experiencing. All of these like come back

(29:35):
around trends. But like, he's showing me music
that I listened to when I was inhigh school, and he thinks it's
brand new. Yeah, there's a couple TikTok
people that like that's their whole thing is like their kids
telling them music that they're well aware of because it's stuff
from like the 90s or the 2000s. So it's that all that stuff is
coming around. Yeah, what's gonna happen?

(29:58):
What's he shown you? Like, what are you trying to
teach me? Yeah.
It's just like he'll be like, have you ever heard of Mac
Miller? How was that?
Yeah, have. You ever heard of?
Mac Miller No. That's fantastic.
Who's that? There's two versions of the
song. One of them is featuring
Ashanti. One of them is featuring Ja Rule

(30:21):
and Ashanti. The Ja Rule and Ashanti 1 is
better but I just said Ashanti because I want to stay out of
posse territory because I wantedto stay on but you want to go
radio edits terrible because youneed.
To go with the Ja Rule and Ashanti 1 though.
Yeah, and everybody knows what song it is when he starts that
song because how does he start it?
You know how he starts it. No.

(30:42):
Why don't you sing it for us? Because said enough explicit
language on this. No, you can say it.
I'll bleep it out. Yeah, you, but I get it.
I'll bleep it out for your nephew.
It's my favorite thing. I was surprised nobody asked
what I said. Yeah.
Oh no. People asked what you said.
Oh, I'm in on your anniversary episode, but I'm glad it didn't

(31:03):
come up again. Yeah, what does he say?
How does he open the song? What the fuck it mic on mic?
Is on. Crushed it.
Crushed it. I can't wait for that to ruin.

(31:25):
Crushed it. Yeah, that's going to.
That's going to be fun to edit, but crushed it.
Jump on that well, second song, Rodrick or.
It's me. It's me.
Shit, that means I'm at the riskof losing this one.
Go ahead. Losing which one?
The song that I want to throw out first.

(31:45):
What decade is it from? Late 90s, early 2000s.
No, no, you're not at risk of all.
Right, isn't it? I'm going to go with the one I
think somebody else might have, right?
That's the thing to do. I.
Don't know is it supposed to feel competitive because it
always does. In fact, well, no, it's, it's
there's strategy though, and maybe I won't pick it because if

(32:07):
somebody else does pick it, thenI get to pick one of my other
ones because I like some of my honorable mentions.
No, I'm going to go with a different one.
I'm going to start off with gorillas.
Featuring. Del The funky Homo sapien Clint
Eastwood. God be useless, but not for
long. The future is coming on, it's

(32:27):
coming on, it's coming on. It's coming on, is coming on.
Finally someone let me out of mycase.
Now time for me is nothing because I'm counting no a no.
I couldn't be there now. You shouldn't be scared.
I'm good at repairs and I'm under a snare.
Yeah, great call. I have two on my list that don't

(32:48):
technically say featured, but like they are like it's gorilla
like Dell only did 2 has done 2 songs with the gorillas.
So he like he's not part of the group, but it's weird that it
doesn't say it's featuring him. I had to do AI did all the
research into this, though. I, I know way too much about
gorilla's lore now. Like I was never, I like
gorilla's music. I never gave a shit really about
the, the whole universe that they've created.

(33:10):
Like that's cool that they did that.
But now I know too much about itbecause like, well, I was
worried. I was like, is this a feature?
Is it not a feature? And so I looked into it and I'm
like, man. And it did make me appreciate
the song better because if a bunch of Dell's lyrics are about
the like, this was the first ever Gorilla singles too, so

(33:31):
nobody knew who they were. So Damon had to have gone to
Dell and be like, hey, here's the story I've got, we're all
animated, here's the band members.
You're going to inhabit the bodyof the drummer and rap for him.
And so like, he incorporated allthat shit into his lyrics, which
is really cool that. Is cool.
But I watched a interview with Dell where he got the offer to
do the feature and he didn't know who Blur was, He didn't

(33:53):
know who Damon Albarn was. And he didn't know the gorillas
cuz they didn't have any music. And he was like gonna say no.
And then his mom talked him intodoing.
His mom was like just don't turndown, don't turn down creative
opportunities or something like that.
And so he did it. So thanks Dell's mom, I guess.
Yeah. Have you seen the clip that

(34:15):
Clint Eastwood is literally the pre program of that one
keyboard? There's so much about the song,
like. That's crazy.
Have you seen that, Jess? No.
So do you know how like keyboards come with pre
programmed tracks? You know, you hit the demo
button and then the keyboard plays a song.
Clint Eastwood is literally the demo song on a specific
keyboard, and they literally just ripped the entire thing off
and just changed it to be louderso that it's not a demo track.

(34:40):
It's the exact same song. It's awesome.
It's. Really cool.
So Zane Lowe, do you know him? He does like the Apple Music
interviews and podcast stuff. He was Damon was taking him on a
tour of their new studio and they had this little white Casio
keyboard sitting there like as they were talking to in the
studio. And Damon was just like, you
want to hear something crazy? And he just like hit the demo

(35:01):
button and hit another button and just started playing Clint
Eastwood basically only like a MIDI version of it.
And yeah, that's they just ripped it off of a demo.
Demo song on a keyboard unlike aCasio.
Maybe I did see somebody talkingabout that, actually.
There was like this long thing Iwatched with LP where he was
playing around with the keyboardlike that too, and maybe he did
say that. The other The other thing I

(35:23):
found interesting was that the the character Russell or Russ,
who's the drummer in Gorillaz was based on ice T and that's
why Damon went to Dell for the first like feature for Russ's
character because he's ice TS nephew or cousin.
I can't remember. I can always get I can't ever

(35:43):
remember which one. So that was cool too.
But yeah, like they've done likethey lost souls been that
character before and other hip hop artists have done it before.
But that all the Dell verses on Clint Eastwood are just so good.
Yeah, it's just. It's great.
It's good, it's good stuff. Yeah, that's a great call.
It belongs there. I'm taking the lob ball.

(36:03):
My first pick is a lob. OK.
And it's not late 90s, early 2000s.
I lied in hopes that you would pick something different,
thinking that it was the wrong one.
It's 19901991, Public Enemy in Anthrax.
It's actually Anthrax featuring Public Enemy, and it's Bring the
noise, please. How low?

(36:25):
Can you call what a brother knowonce again back it's the
incredible run animal the untenable D Public Enemy number
15463 and I got young Jenna two never really never had a gun
but. It's the waste that determined
they didn't run the Everybody says this is the start of rap
rock. And then there's the argument
whether it was that or whether it was Aerosmith and Run DMCI.

(36:48):
Think it was far more Anthrax. Such a cool thing to have those
two like pretty big bands in their genre.
Meet up for this into your Flavour Flav scream.
Yeah boy, over Anthrax is prettyexciting.
Scott Ian's a badass. But like, this is probably of my
songs that I have on this mixtape, the songs that I have

(37:09):
heard the most times. Roderick.
Or just do either of you know why?
Can you pinpoint where specifically the song comes from
other than the album? What movie is it in?
It's not in the movie, it is in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2.
Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah.
And it is OK. It is in two.
Yeah, that was. I've heard that the most times

(37:29):
as a result of that. Yeah, it's that.
I mean, I can, I do have like a vivid image of Tony Hawk and
just that bring the noise. Yeah, going over there.
Exactly so many times. Were you in debate whether it
was going to be the Run DMC and Aerosmith or this, or it was

(37:49):
always this? One, it was always going to be
this for me, but the debate is like what started the rap rock
craze. And I think this is probably
more influential to bands like fucking Limp Bizkit and Corn and
all of those rap rock bands. I guess it's more new metal.
What would constitute a rap rockband?
Limpus, did you already say LimpBizkit like?

(38:12):
Limp Biscuit is more rap rock than they are new metal.
Rage Against the Machine. Yeah, I would think this would
influence rage more than run DMCand Aerosmith.
I mean, Aerosmith isn't metal. So if you're talking like rap,
when people say rap rock, they're kind of kind of like.
Rap that rock, you know? Yeah.
Yeah, but all the all it was like Run DMC already sampled
that in one of their songs. And so it was just like APR

(38:35):
thing. It's to say, well, let's do a
song where they at the band actually plays the song and
we'll do a music video together. So it's not like they made a new
song. So you're saying it's not a
feature? Are you trying to debate is it a
feature or not? I'm defending your take that the
Anthrax 1 was the original 1. I thought you're already trying
to like pull out this. What did you call it in the
beginning? You're trying to yellow card
beer or some bullshit. No, it's just.

(38:56):
It's weird. You can veto a song.
Like what's the difference, especially in hip hop, from like
a feature to a sample? And if somebody's going in to
just do their portion of the sample, that gets blurred lines.
Yeah. Or what if it's like a remix or
a remaster and someone's just adding like a verse?
Can we add yellow cards to season 3?

(39:18):
You mean 4. You keep saying season 3.
Season 3 is almost done, can we add yellow cards to?
Season 4 Can we add yellow cardsand red cards to season 4?
I'm down, you know I'm down. You're the one.
Just make it like a buzzer so like an X can come up and you
guys can veto the guests or other Co hosts suggestion.
Yeah, so. I'm going to buy, I'm going to

(39:38):
have custom I'm going to have custom how to make a mixtape,
yellow cards and red cards made and I'm going to ship you some
Don so we can physically. I can't wait for that.
There was also there's new features in Riverside where Rod
can do more stuff. He can add applause.
And last, there's also there's sort of stuff that Rod can do.
There you go. Too long.

(40:04):
It was going to keep going. I stopped too long manually.
And I am working on trying to get him to add the prices right,
losing horn to our Yeah. So we're trying to add those in
there as well. That's great.
Yeah. But yellow cards and red cards
might be the move for Season 4. Yeah, that's fine.

(40:25):
I I like how you got really combative when I was defending
your stance. Yeah, I thought you were trying
to get in my trying to get in myshit.
It's fine. I both of these were on my radar
and I know I didn't have either of them on my list, but they're
they're both really great features.
So. All right.
Back over to you just. Back to me.
This one, for me, is one of justmy favorite songs.

(40:47):
But I also think that part of this should be about maybe
teaching people about music. And I'm sure a lot of people
have heard this, but I don't think it's maybe as wildly
listened to as it should be. But it's Francis and the Lights
featuring Chance the Rapper. May I have this dance?
May I have this dance? Can I say something crazy I

(41:14):
love? You.
Get it both your hands and inside you.
You've got your your mother's eyes.
You've got your grandmother's ring.

(41:37):
Francis and the lights. I know this song.
You do. Is it good?
I do, yeah. It's really good.
Yeah, I. Don't know this song?
So, Francis and the lights. Maybe I do know this song.
He like legally changed his nameto like Francis.
Farewell, Starlight. He's a very like, obscure
creative dancer, producer, workswith like a lot of really big

(42:02):
names. But this is solo project and I
loved almost every single song that he's done.
There's a few other ones that would have fought to get on this
list for me, but Voldemort's usually attached to those.
So I decided to go this route because I love Chances Features
so much. I love the lyrics.
I think that and the video is phenomenal.
He always like, makes whoever he's working with do these

(42:25):
really wild, wacky dances that are really fun to watch.
Whatever. They intentionally wacky dances.
Or is he just like a very talented dancer and so it makes
everybody else look wacky, but he's very good?
No, they're really wacky. They're like, it's like me and
my sister and the kids like do it all, all the time at the
house is like a fun thing to do.It's really, really like joke.

(42:45):
I knew, I knew I had seen Chances dance in this music
video before I'd ever actually heard the song or knew this
because it went kind of viral because of what you're saying.
Like I remember it going around because it was Chance always is
kind of a he's OK. He's comfortable doing some
like, weird dancing anyway. He did really well.
He actually got like Justin Vernon to do it in like the

(43:07):
friends music video, which is crazy because doesn't really
seem like Justin Vernon loves being in the spot line, let
alone acting a little silly. I think it feels like like a
prerequisite to work with Francis so and it's wacky, like
it's so funny to watch. I love it.
Wacky dances I. Don't want to watch that video?
Yeah. Yeah, it's just really special.

(43:28):
I like lyrics and the chance feature really clever.
Do you agree with the Chantel isone good album?
It was like a pretty big debate that he was like a pretty
serious sophomore slump album. Is that his first album was
fantastic and then everything post that has been.
I kind of do feel like that, yeah.
It's a bummer because he's probably one of those dudes

(43:50):
where his features are better than his second album.
Kind of stinks. He was doing a lot of really
cool like live shows and stuff during COVID, which I watched
and I was staying pretty attached.
But then, yeah, I just kind of fell off as a fan.
But this song has always been really important and special to
me. And I think his verse is really,
really awesome. Yeah.

(44:13):
I'm excited to get this to listen.
It's a beautiful song. Yeah, it's a beautiful song.
And Chance, I also think Chance has fallen off.
But he, I mean, he's still capable of like, I mean, when
did this come out? I mean, he's, he can still do a
great verse, you know? When did this song come out?
Yeah, When did this song come out, Jess?
I don't know, I didn't write down 2. 1017 OK, so he was kind

(44:34):
of in his prime anyway, but chance just kind of like
disappeared from the. Public.
The thing was is that his first album came out and it was
insane. His second album came out and it
was kind of a gospel album, you know?
And then it's kind of been weirdsince, you know, the dude still
sits at almost 9 million monthlylisteners.

(44:57):
Yeah, we're just kind of waiting.
You know? What's crazy is that two of his
most listened to songs are just songs that he's features on.
They're not his own tracks. Who knows?
I mean a. Good ad he's a good addition.
You're right up the song a little bit.
It's not like he just like big day was still really big though,
and that was 2019 because it hadthose big singles on it, you
know, so like right, like had hot shower and stuff, which I

(45:20):
which is fantastic. It's also.
Good. It's so good.
Yeah, Mom. Who knows, maybe he'll come up
with something amazing. Let's hope the Chance puts out a
great album. Yeah, let's hope he comes.
Back fingers crossed. Fingers crossed.
Chance put on a great album. Part of Chicago all.
Right, that's it to me. Under Pressure Queen featuring

(45:43):
David Bowie. Yeah, I think it.

(46:18):
Was going to be on there. Did you put it on there just
because it needed to be on thereor?
That big and because it's great,I, I don't, I'm not a big, I'm
going to back myself into a corner saying this because I'm
sure there's a ton of songs thatI do like that fit in this, but
I feel like I'm not usually a big fan of duets between two men

(46:40):
for some reason. I think two women can sound
great together. I think a man and a woman sound
great together. I think men's voices don't tend
to blend great together. Like they fight a lot of times
Is not not these guys like Bowie's voice and Freddie's
voice, like playoff of each other really well.
It's just a really fun song. It was within the last few years
where somebody had isolated their vocal tracks and it was

(47:03):
just the like literally there's nothing other than their the
tracks of just their vocals. And it is nuts to listen to.
To hear those two singing back and forth, like to some of the
parts of the song, like just isolated vocals of David Bowie
and Freddie Mercury, is like, oh, OK, I get it.
Nevermind, I'm good. I'm gonna just sit here and

(47:24):
digest this for a bit. So cool, really good sound.
Yeah, you have so many YouTube videos to watch, Jess.
You got to watch the stolen track from the keyboard for the
gorillas. We got to watch Chance the
Rapper dance and now we got to watch isolated vocal tracks,
Queen and David Bowie. Took a little group of things to
do. I don't.
Know. I mean, this this is one of

(47:46):
those songs, like it's on all kinds of lists of like the
greatest songs of all time, likethe 100 greatest or the 500
greatest or whatever. But it's really interesting that
like I tried to find some info on how this came to be.
I mean, which I guess there doesn't have to be a big reason.
Like I'm sure they were they knew each other or were friends

(48:06):
or whatever. So it could have just been like,
hey, let's do something together, but I can't find much.
It does seem to be that. It seems to be that they were
like, let's just do a song together.
Like, hey Dave, come into the studio and they just kind of
like figure. It out.
Call him Dave. I hope they called him Dave.
I I hope they called him Dave, Yeah.
I'd be so intimidated. Davey Bean or.
Or how different their like, creative processes might have

(48:27):
been 'cause they're out there, you know, or how ego was in play
at that point in time. Or I was just thinking about
that, especially on trying to determine what's a feature
versus what's just like a collaboration.
Like a lot of these people maybedidn't know what they were going
into or did they write their feature or did somebody else
write it? Or were they just like I need

(48:48):
you on this? How does that work?
Yeah, so that that was what's soon the same album, he sang
backing vocals on another song, but it doesn't say which
happened first. I guess it's likely that he came
in to do backing vocals and thenwhile they were in the studio,
because it does say that the song started with a jam.
So I guess the story that's playing out here is he went to
the studio to do background vocals on a song and then they

(49:10):
just started jamming on something and then it came a
song came out of it. That's AI mean.
If that happened and what came out of that was under pressure,
then that's pretty incredible. That's pretty incredible.
But just so you're. Typing on a 5 gallon bucket, Is
that what you're typing away on over there?
Yeah. It literally sounds like you're

(49:31):
a bucket kid in downtown Chicagoright now.
A. Little bit bucket boys are here.
Featuring the bucket boys. Jess Wilson featuring the Bucket
Boys. It's a musical conservation.
Yeah. It was Jesus.
I could tell. I could hear it.
There's no echo mode that's cancelling that that's blocking
that one out. Just take it completely out.

(49:52):
The bucket. No, I typed.
We'll see how it goes. Oh, OK, got it.
Rod, I just go ahead and take out all of Jess's bucket.
Banging. I'm on it, I'm on it.
Is it me? Is it my turn?
Yeah. It is you.
The featuring artist of this track said that the vocalist
that they were featured on was the greatest vocalist that

(50:14):
they'd ever heard and unfortunately part of I believe
the 27 Club. And the song is going to be saw
red by Sublime featuring Gwen Stefani.

(50:53):
And Gwen Stefani has gone on record saying that Bradley
Knowles. Bradley Knowles was one of the
greatest vocalist she's ever performed with.
And now that his son is killing it, it's still is a little sad
to see what would have become ofthat band had he not died.
But I can't wait to see what that band is going to become new

(51:14):
music wise with his kid because there's.
Also an incredible singer. He's also an incredible singer
and I hopefully songwriter like when they were doing Sublime
With Rome, like Rome's a pretty good songwriter.
So he's doing his own solo shit now and was prior.
But I'm hoping that they put newmusic out because I would love
to see what that sounded like. But this is a great song.

(51:35):
It's a really fun up tempo reggae song and it's a baby Gwen
Stefani like singing her heart out old school.
This is like early, no doubt. This is like pre this pre
tragic. Kingdom, this pre tragic Kingdom
for sure. Yeah, this is like self-titled.
This is like when this is like Eric Stefani era No doubt still
where she was like high energy, high vibrato.

(51:55):
They were doing like legit old school ska songs that were
right. The no doubt stuff is not great.
This this is better than probably any of those old No
doubt songs, I think, but I don't know if you've ever heard
that self-titled. It's OK, It's OK.
I mean, she it's cool of her to say that because she stands out
in this song big time because her voice is so unique,
especially in the 90s, like whenshe was doing that full on crazy

(52:17):
vibrato Gwen Stefani thing that she does.
Like her voice just stands out, killing it too.
So unique. So cool.
Yeah, she was so cool. You know, part, I've had a hard
time and I understand that people grow up, but like the
change for her. You didn't with No Doubt, who
did not grow up with No Doubt. Like I can say that, Ron, I've
talked about this. We've grown up with Saves the

(52:38):
Day. Like a Saves the Day has changed
and evolved. So have we.
And like, we've kind of grown upwith Save the Day until the
newest album, 9, which is terrible, but no doubt Tragic
Kingdom, Return of Saturn and everything else has been, yeah.
Her life, the last like 10 yearsor so is.

(52:58):
Strange. It's not my business to care
about somebody else's personal life if they're not doing
anything like bad. But I do miss old Gwen Stefani.
I miss like, rebel Gwen Stefani.I miss fashion icon prior to
appropriating other cultures. Yeah.
Actually, I don't know if there was ever a Prior to
appropriating other cultures, she had the.

(53:19):
Just a girl wasn't too. Bad she had the bendy and the
spider webs video or no that wasthe just the girl video like.
Well, you know, but yeah, that'smy.
Song she was fucked back then though.
It's like, like this whole song was cool as fuck.
She was cool as fuck. It's.
Funny that you called baby goingso funny.

(53:41):
Featuring baby going so. Funny, did I say featuring baby
Gwen Stefani that happens. But yeah, so I read.
I mean I sublime featuring. 9494, she would have been 25.
She's 25 in this song, dude. I probably recorded your.
Let's say she's 24. Yeah, amazing.
It's crazy. I.
Don't know. Wow wow I didn't.

(54:03):
I thought she was younger when no doubt got big.
I didn't realize she was mid 20s.
That makes sense. Tragic Kingdom came out in 95,
so she would have been 25 when they recorded that, like 20-6
ish. I meant to say this.
So I when I was listening back to the anniversary episode, you
were talking about like the highschool venue.
Remember that, Don? And I I remember thinking like,

(54:26):
I want to say this, I want to say this, and I just forgot
about it. There used to be a show on him.
Yeah. You were, you were.
You just wouldn't stop talking. Makes sense?
There used to be the show on MTVand I think they only did a
handful of episodes of it, probably because it was really
expensive to do. But it was bands going back to
their high school, like bands that had been a band since high
school and going back to their high school and doing a concert

(54:48):
at their high school. And then MTV would film it.
And I remember I'm pretty sure Green Day did one, but No Doubt
did one and they went back to their high school in like Orange
County. And I just, I just have a like a
core memory of that that I had forgotten until you said
something about high school venue and just like rushed back
in my head. Like this image of the stage
outside this high school that looks like a mall because it's

(55:11):
so Cal and crazy and no doubt just playing in front of a bunch
of high school kids and being like, man, that.
Show is called taking the stage.I want to be in a band that goes
back in place at their high school someday.
I think that was my thought at the time, but.
Crazy. Yeah, it's awesome.
Yeah. Thanks.
Was this the one you were worried about having picked
before something? Is that what you were looking up
earlier? No, I.

(55:31):
Prior to the show. Oh no, I I have picked a Sublime
song previously, but I know I didn't pick this Sublime song.
Yeah, Santeria was on maybe 90s songs.
All right, we are back to Jess. Moving right along, sisters are
doing it for themselves. Annie Lennox featuring Aretha

(55:52):
Franklin. I don't know this song.

(56:27):
Yes, you do. It is feminist anthem.
It is. You've heard it.
There's no way. No, you haven't heard it.
There's no way. It's impossible. 2 white men
haven't heard this song huh I. Mean.
Are you that surprised? It's a really cool song.
I'm not sure if the Eurythmics wrote it or if Annie Lennox
wrote it, but I read, I was reading about who she originally

(56:49):
wanted to feature. She wanted Tina Turner to do it,
but Tina Turner said no, It was like too feminist.
And then Aretha Franklin signed on to do it, which is really,
really cool. But she adds a lot to the song.
I think it sounds really great just with the sound of Annie
Lennox's voice. There's no way haven't.
Heard it. He's heard it, though.

(57:09):
Doesn't look like he's heard it I.
Don't know that I've ever heard this before, Jess.
Wow, really? Yeah.
It's always nice when I hear music for the first time on this
pod. I feel like it's probably maybe
just like been, you know, maybe in an anthem for things that me
as a girl or woman at any point in my life has heard because it
might have been attached to something that they were trying
to move in my direction, probably.

(57:32):
It's really good. Your table as much.
It's really good. I just, I really don't think
I've heard this before. Yeah, I just think it's a cool
mash up. I think it's the right people to
sing the song. I think it's a really cool
story. I like it and it's like a little
ahead of its time. Did you pick a Eurythmics song
last time you were on? You know I did, yeah.

(57:52):
You did. That's why I did you.
Doubled down the Eurythmics, huh?
It's. Fine, different, different mix
tape. Different mix tape.
That's great though. She's so cool.
I'm I love Annie Lemon. She's cool.
She's Aretha. Franklin's a badass too.
Yeah, I was, you know, I recently watched that.
We one of you guys were talking about watching sad movies on
planes and I watched Aretha Franklin's, like, biopic, which

(58:17):
was a bad choice because it's incredibly sad, heartbreaking,
very sad. Did.
You cry on the plane. Oh yeah.
Yeah. Did any of the fellow passengers
ask if you were OK? No, because I hide, you know, I
pull up the hood, I make. Were you sadness Window Window.
Middle aisle. Window so you get a little bit

(58:37):
of. Right.
Oh, you get to hide a little better, Yeah, Yeah, you can
definitely hide better window, yeah.
For sure. Who called it?
Was it was it built in screen ordid you have like an iPad, your
iPad? I was watching it on my phone
actually because it. Was a really budget.
Air Canada Flight. Brutal.
I had. I was luck.
It was me and it was one of those built in TV ones where
nobody else can see your screen too, which was nice because I I

(59:00):
did feel a little more private, I felt like.
How can nobody else see your screen?
Yeah. Who are you?
Who are you fine with? You guys haven't been on this
flight. Like if somebody's like right
behind you, they could see what's on your screen.
But and like, if you look at theperson's screen next to you, you
can't. It's just black.
No, that has been like. There's a lot of flights.
That I wish there's been so manyother times too.
And I'm sure this happened to you where you just put on a

(59:22):
movie and there's like, an unexpected, incredibly long sex
scene that lasts for way. Yeah.
Well, the last flight I was on with TV screens that did not
block out, did not have that feature, was when you and Doug
were telling me to watch in Nora.
And I watched it on the flight home and it was the first like

(59:42):
half an hour of that movie. Somebody behind me could have
thought I was just watching pornbasically, even though like
obviously you can only watch what is on the airline's list on
those things, but still that wasnot airplane safe without the
privacy screens. Sorry about that for you.
Sorry. About that for you, the second

(01:00:03):
time Menorah has come up on this, on this episode.
My turn. No, it's not your turn.
No. Your last It's my turn.
All right, go ahead, like the song titles because I'm writing
the title, the artist and then also the featuring artist.
Yeah, usually it's a song. Per a line on my post.
Its 2/3 of the way through my paper and we've only done what's

(01:00:24):
fucking 5 songs. Roderick, go ahead.
Yeah, you got some place to be, Don?
Like. I obviously have a paint to rob.
God damn it, I've got some burglary partake in.
I've got some burglary to burgle.
Burglary. I've got burgling to do.
You're. Going to go burgle.

(01:00:46):
I have some. I have to go burgle.
Are you Hamburgling tonight? Is that is that the single?
Of burgling, Wait to burgle. Burglary.
Burglary. Have you seen these videos?
There's like this crazy videos where people's brains short
circuit and like there's a womanthat's like, yeah, you know,
like she's like filming a video for herself.
She's like match up and custard, match up and custard.

(01:01:10):
And she says it like for match up.
Wait. She can't figure that.
She knows it's wrong, but she cannot figure.
It out and then she goes and pulls it out of the fucking
refrigerator. Ketchup.
Yeah, metrup and custard. She she really has a hard time
with that one. But what is?
Spoon and pork. What is that?
I can't even. For food and metrup and custard.

(01:01:31):
Food and. Food and pork.
Food and pork. Food and pork.
Food and custard spoon. What?
You got that? Sounded right.

(01:01:51):
No. Magic in costume.
Foon and spork. Rod, will you tell us your next
fucking song? Sorry, I yeah.
Pork and foon. My next song is close Your Eyes
and count to Fuck by Run the Jewels, featuring Zach de la
Rocha cases we're. Facing the cop please when we

(01:02:13):
see it in the pop. The only thing that closed
quicker than our casket. Speed of factory.

(01:02:40):
Great call. Awesome song.
All three of them fucking murdertheir verses on this song.
Incredible music video, which bythe way, has the dude, the dude
from like Atlanta and Dope and Get Out and Sorry to Bother You.
Like Keith Stanfield is his name.

(01:03:01):
You'd recognize him. He's awesome.
He's in that music. Like a young hymn is in that
music video and then then the cop is like the dude from
Boardwalk Empire and he was in all kinds of shit.
What was he in Fast and Furious and Spider all kinds.
And anyway, it's cool to see like big actors, like before
they were big doing like music videos for Run the Jewels.

(01:03:22):
I don't know, I just love that stuff, but it's.
A great song. It's a great song and this is
probably not an opener, but thiswould be a great second song
when you try to take it up a notch.
Yeah, there was a few who run the Jewels features, not by any
Killer Maker LP, but like just they have so many good features
on all of their albums that I just eventually had to like stop

(01:03:43):
looking at it 'cause like you can't.
How do you pick? So if you love the album, it,
like Big Boy's album, was reallyhard for me there too, because
there's a lot of really good features on there.
Did you pick a big boy song? It's not looking like it's going
to make it, but they're going onmy list right now, that is.
Which album? Boom Averse.
It's boom averse. It's not boom averse.

(01:04:04):
I love every killer mic feature on a big boy song.
Yeah. They've got a good they're fun
to listen to, great song Rod, good choice.
I love Run the Jewels me. Too.
Same and and and you're right, Jess, they have a ton of
features. I just.
Have you seen them? No.
I had tickets, ironically, to see Run the Jewels and Rage

(01:04:27):
Against the Machine together andthen COVID happened.
I mean. COVID happened.
And that never that concert never happened.
So maybe they would have done this song because they would
have been in the same fucking building together.
But I just they they have a ton of great features, but Zach de
la Rocha just has that unique voice.
He just has that like mix of like hardcore rap thing that he

(01:04:50):
does and it just fits. It just fits so well.
And props to LP because LP crushed it on this song and
like, sometimes, I mean, he's great.
He's a great producer, He's a good rapper.
Sometimes his verses are kind ofthe weak points and run the
drool songs not in the song. I mean, they are like, I mean,

(01:05:10):
look, he's awesome and I'm not saying he's weak.
I can't do what he does. Sounds like I'm just saying dude
he's rapping with Killer Mike. Killer Mike's like top 20 rapper
of all time. So it's not a knock on LPI.
Just think everybody crushes it on this on this song.
Sounds like you think you can kick LP's ass and I don't think
you can. Sounds like you're trying to

(01:05:31):
fight with like. In a physical fight or like 100
meter dash, what are we talking here?
Let's let's say, let's figure this out.
What series of events would you beat LP in?
Rapping. No.
No. Physical fight No.
Probably not. 100 yard dash yes I like how.
Quickly, you guys both said no though.

(01:05:52):
Like you've ever seen LP fight somebody you don't know.
He could be the most uncoordinated motherfucker ever.
Like you don't know at all. So he can't beat LP in a fight.
Like, First off, I'm taller thana fight.
Like I'm not taller than a lot of people.
I'm taller than LP. Who's going to win?
Who's going to ride our gorilla?Go, you know.
What I'm going to go with me, I'm I'm going to fucking back

(01:06:13):
myself in this fight against LP.Or a gorilla.
The animated gorillas or Damon Albarn.
No, Johnny is saying an actual primate.
Oh, actual gorilla. I thought we were going back to
my first pick. Yeah.
OK so me and a buddy of mine were going to create a series of

(01:06:35):
events called the bro Olympics where there would be physical
activities like 100 yard dash orlike arm wrestling.
But then there would also be other random competitions like
all you can eat pancakes and IHOP and whoever eats the most
pancakes that IHOP would win onewould be like a game of Madden
whoever won in Madden. So if you have any contribution
of events for the Bro Olympics, let me know.

(01:06:56):
Have you talked to Reno about this?
And one should be. Now Reno had.
Yeah, he had. Whatever.
What did they call those? Man not man days.
What was it called? I don't remember.
I figured you would remember. If I think about it, I'm sure
it'll come to me. Yeah, but the Pro Olympics was
far lower stakes than Reno's thing.

(01:07:17):
Much lower stakes. Reno actually, I think just
Arena told us all about. Yeah, yeah, something like you
got to smoke a cigarette and sawdown a tree at the same time.
My my father was a Carpenter. You have to saw 2 by 4 while
smoking a cigarette as fast as you can.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
All right, now, is it my turn? Yes, now it's your turn.

(01:07:39):
Jesus Christ. OK shit, let me get back to my
original list. This is a turning point I.
Know I feel so. We're gonna do Rods.
We're gonna do Rod Stewart, featuring The Temptations, the
Motown song. We put the speakers in the
window and we'll go on the loop and listen to the miracle and go

(01:08:07):
to the island. Oh yeah, They wish us luck, but
they think we're just dreaming. Let's prove them wrong, baby.
Oh hell yeah. Rod Stewart featuring The
Temptations. The Motown song.
Amazing. It is.
Right now, you guys haven't heard a clip of it yet.

(01:08:29):
You have now if you've listened to the podcast, and
unfortunately, this song is stuck in your head for the rest
of the day. This song is like a fucking
virus that you just cannot get out of there.
I love it. Maybe because my mom loved Rod
Stewart, so he was like playing in the house a lot when I was
young. She actually would say like
often she'd be so mad at me for saying this, but like she used

(01:08:50):
to tell me like, that's the man I'm going to leave your dad for.
Jesus. And I love that it's the Motown
song. It's just the name of the song.
It's called the Motown Song, andit's featuring the Temptations
and it is so fucking catchy. Got it.
That song is an ear worm that isstuck in there for the rest of
the day. It's crazy catchy.

(01:09:12):
This song was on the radio like crazy in like the the mid 90s,
like adult contemporary radio. Like I remember driving around
in my mom's car and the song playing.
My mom also had the definitive Rod Stewart or the greatest hits
for whatever in the song was on there so.
I don't know why. I don't know why, but I you were
going to say, I thought he was going to say my mom had the Rod

(01:09:34):
Stewart haircut. I don't know why, that's why I
thought. Yeah, not far off, not far off.
And Tammy, if you're listening, can can you attest to this?
I mean, to be fair, though, Rod Stewart did like, at the time,
it was a fashionable dude's cut.And then it turned into like,
it's it's leaning a little bit, Karen.
It's leaning a little Karen. Yeah, a little bit hasn't been.

(01:09:55):
Hey, Don, you want to know Rod Stewart's official, like, birth
name? Roderick Sure is Roderick
Stewart. Big fan of football as well.
He sure is. Do you know his team, Roderick?
I used to know his team is at West Ham.
I don't know. Like couldn't.
Couldn't possibly care less. My guess is West Ham.
My mom took me to a show when I was probably like 17 or 18.

(01:10:19):
So like pretty too old. I'm too old, too cool for this.
Was it at the PNC? PNC.
Oh, was it? An arena.
It was an arena show. And.
You know, I spent a lot of time like observing people, 'cause,
you know, it's a really great time to be there with my mom,

(01:10:39):
but I don't know that I, like, you know, would have picked it
for my own. He kicks soccer balls into the
audience pretty fucking hard. And it's like you guys all been
picking up his audiences. So it's like women like my mom.
And he's kicking soccer balls, alot of them as hard as he can
into the audience. Like it's dangerous out there.

(01:11:03):
Like just a bunch of like mid 4050 year old women just getting
zoned with the soccer balls. Can you do that at the next this
repeat? Show Rod.
I will a 100% do that. Yeah, order a bunch of mini this
repeat soccer balls and just start drilling.
I like that, but I like he couldhave just gotten like in like in

(01:11:25):
like cheap inflatables beach balls that look like soccer
balls. But no, he's got actual socks.
Like those things are heavy as shit.
Like that would hurt. Yeah, people getting Dome.
Just 'cause you tell us about the white wine part again.
No, just think about the audience.
There's like, you know, women, middle-aged women just drinking
2 short full glasses of white. They're like, they're like tin

(01:11:48):
Chardonnay soccer ball. From like the love of their
life. It's like such a weird dynamic.
They're like tin chardonnays deep, and they're just like
trying to catch it and miss it. Oh shit, that's fantastic.
He's a Celtic fan, which if as is for Scottish.
No, really. For Scottish football, that's
the right choice. They're the anti, they're the

(01:12:10):
anti monarchy team. So oh.
Good. Yeah.
Who's the bad team to like in football?
It depends on the country, I mean, OK.
Who's the bad team that you? What's I'm?
Sorry if I'm going to piss anybody off, but in Scotland
it's Rangers because they're like super pro monarchy and
that's it's a fucking weird, it's weird that football teams
have political opinions, but they do a lot of them.

(01:12:30):
So, Rod? Is getting salty?
Who's your team that you like the least?
Manchester City. Oh yeah, fuck Man City.
Sound votes on the pod for sure. No, wait.
Oh, wait, is. Wait, are we going to get hate
mail from saying fuck Man City try?
To be careful, but. Ron, am I losing guests?
Are we losing? Are we losing it?
Nope, Nope. We're good.
Trust. Me, we're good.

(01:12:51):
All right, we're good shit. I have a couple Man City friends
but they wouldn't stop listeningbecause of OK.
They know. They know what they they they
know who they root for. OK, Jessica, your 4th and final
choice. So torn now.
Is it fat Mike? I mean, they said Big Boy
featuring Fat Mike. Killer.

(01:13:13):
Mike, Killer Mike, Fat Joe, Fat Joe, Killer Mike, Big Boy.
We got them all. Killer Joe.
Everybody's killer. Killer.
Did I say Killer Joe? Fat Mike and Killer Joe Fat Mike
from No Effects is on a big boy song.
That's the collab we've all beenwaiting for.
Yeah. OK, I'll I'll do it.
I'm going to do it. I'm going to I'm going to.

(01:13:35):
It's going to do it is going to be objective sexuality from
vicious lies and dangerous rumors by Big Boy featuring
Phantogram. You like it or not, I'm Nixon.
I got the time after that and the time after that because the
time and time again I got to turn around and tell him I said
rebell him get way more deep wood than these other feathers.
Not only about shut up but what about the seasons never change

(01:13:57):
and the weather stay the same. We can come together but that
might be lame. Could learn some peak game.

(01:14:18):
OK, so this is Big Boy featuringPhantogram, not Big Grams
because they did the whole out that whole album.
Together, this is just on vicious eyes and dangerous
rumors. OK, you going to yellow card me?
No, I'm not. I I just wanted to clarify
because you're right, this is ona Big Boy album because they did
an album to get like an entire album together as Big Grams.

(01:14:40):
Remember we talked about that. We did talk about it.
I would listen to it. It's fucking awesome.
It's so good. I wonder if this came.
I wonder if this happened first.I wonder if this is what like
spawned that. Well, I don't know when the big
grams think about so. Looks so good but now I hate
that there's a whole album of it.
Feels a little bit like a waste.Have you listened to the album?
No, I never have. Oh shit, it's fantastic.

(01:15:01):
Listen to the album. Yeah, you will love it then if
you like this song. Hang on, I'm still hung up.
What is the singular form of burglary called?
A burgle. Is it?
Is it called the burgle? There's no way it's called.
Yeah. What is it?
What are are you the victim of burglary?
I'm. Going to go do a burgle.
What's the difference between a burglary and a robbery?

(01:15:23):
The outfit. So which one are you wearing
right now? Burglary.
Feels violent maybe there was like a burglary feel like I'm
going to sneak in I'm going to sneak out and no one's going to
ever see me I. Think you're right?
International super spy. Down.
I'm violent. Get down.
I'm violent. That's how I that's how I go in

(01:15:44):
all my burgles. So it says robbery is stealing
from a person using force. Burglary is just entering a
building to steal something. Yeah, I'm a burglar.
Yeah, instinctually I knew the answer.
Yeah, you nailed that. And this was before Big Gram, so
this is the first. This is the OG Big boy

(01:16:05):
Phantogram thing. Good job.
It's crazy. They just make they just works
well really well together. It's not AI don't know what's
like a food combo that sounds weird but just is delicious
'cause that's that's. And pretty much French fries.
Peanuts and candy corn. There, peanut, this is Midwest
Trail mix right here if I've ever if I've ever heard any.

(01:16:26):
This one's going to be. It's going to be hard for me to
put these. Just also, just so you guys
know, the singular of burglar burglary is burglary.
Plural and singular at the same time.
Yeah, singular of burglary is I'm going to stick with Burgle.
That's not fun. I don't like it.
I'm a singular burgle. Don, do you remember when we saw

(01:16:48):
a big boy and he had a broken leg?
Yep, you sat a throne the whole time.
Where he belong. And he just had like a he just
had a bodyguard standing next tohim like a buddy of mine.
Was responsible for a buddy of mine was responsible for moving
him around while that was happening.
Like you know, from the hotel tothe venue that he performed at
and from the venue back to his hotel, him and Sleepy Brown.

(01:17:08):
And he did it in his like 2001 Saturn Vue.
Could you imagine Big Boy being ushered around in like a 2001
Saturn view? No, that's crazy.
With a broken leg. Yeah, I have.
I have a friend and I was telling him about this and we
were talking just like hip hop features and was telling him
about Ghostface being one of my favorite rappers.

(01:17:30):
And he was like, yeah, I got in a car accident with Ghostface
one time, said that he was like promoting shows at the time when
Ghostface was in the front seat and they got T boned on his.
Side Oh my God. That's crazy.
Crazy. We can hear these, like, random
stories like that, Yeah. The the the features on this
album, which I know you already said this, Jess, I'm just, I

(01:17:51):
guess just seeing them written out.
The the features are wild. On on the bit aren't that
vicious size. Yeah.
Like, yeah, there's a song with waves, there's a song with
Little Dragon, 2 songs with Little Dragon.
Those looking. Good crit.
Yeah, sound like Kelly Rowland. TI Ludacris, Sleepy Brown.
Kelly Rowland. Multiple little dragon ones,

(01:18:14):
Multiple Phantogram ones. Do you not know of like Big Boys
featuring situation Roderick? Do you not know like he?
There is rarely a big boy song that doesn't feature people.
I I guess I mean, I did know it like I had Sir Lucius left foot
and I like I've had some of his solo stuff.

(01:18:34):
I guess I just never really thought about it.
Like, I guess it's just like kind of what he does.
Yeah, that's his thing is he's like got features on damn near
everything. Like I was hoping you were going
to something off of Boom verse. Boomer verse is just littered
with awesome features, a lot of killer.
Verse is actually the one I knowthe least.
When Go listen to Kill Jill. Go listen to Kill Jill.

(01:18:58):
There's some Adam Levine on heretoo.
Yeah. Roderick, what do you got?
Give me your give me your home run.
Give me your number four choice that you got.
It's me again. It's you for your last song, I.
Don't know if I call it a home run.
It's just a good song. OK.
Well, it's the fourth, so it waslike I.
Saved it for last because I knewnobody would pick this one for
sure. I'm.

(01:19:18):
Just going to pick any of your. Fuck you all.
Right I you you want I could audible to something you're
going to hate you want me you Isthat what you want do.
What you do? Is that what you want?
Do what you do all right. Do what you do.
It is let forever be Chemical Brothers, featuring Noel
Gallagher. It's just an awesome Chemical

(01:20:00):
Brothers song mixed with fuckinglike Brit pop.
It's better than half the Oasis songs out there and people
probably know this song. It's.
Just no. It's just no.
Gallagher, just no Gallagher, Just no Gallagher.
I think this was no, this was Oasis was still together.
The reason I know this song, I mean, I was into Chemical
Brothers, but Michelle Gondry, like Eternal Sunshine of the

(01:20:21):
Spotless Mind and like those movies, directed the music video
for this. Yeah, and it's like a mash.
It's like a cross between Eternal Sunshine and like around
the world, the Daft Punk video where it's like fully
choreographed the entire time tolike the song and just, it was
such a fucking cool music video. And so I've always loved the

(01:20:41):
song. Since then.
I, I don't know, like I've, I'vealways been into like electronic
stuff like this, like Big Beat and house and stuff like that.
But what I liked about this era, like The Chemical Brothers era
and like Crystal Method and bands like that, is they would
do these features. I don't know that you hear that
as much anymore. I mean, Daft Punk kind of did it
with their last record with likePharrell and stuff.
But a lot of the singles off these albums in like the late

(01:21:04):
90s, these electronic albums hadreally awesome features on them.
And I wish, I wish they did thatmore.
When you said the name of this song, I had no idea what song
you were talking about. Now listening to this, I am.
What was this in? I feel like this was in a fight
on Volkswagen commercial or something like that.
Probably like an unescapable song in like the late 90s, early
2000s. It was probably everywhere.

(01:21:25):
Yeah, well, it was on it was on Surrender, which is like their
massive record and and there were Chemical Brothers songs and
all kinds of car commercials andand shit like that.
So yeah, the song would have just been around in like 99 two
thousand era and it's got like that, like Brit pop.
It totally does. Quasi Beatles sound but like
electronic. Yeah, it sounds like it would be

(01:21:45):
the outro of a Beatles song. What were you seeing, Jess?
I'm. Sorry.
Well is Brit pop more your thingnow or has always been your
thing? Is it just because you I?
I not really like I was. Because you spent so much time
over the pond. Yeah, there was no, there was,
there's, there's always been like 2 Oasis records that I
absolutely loved and there's always been a like 2 Blur
records that I like. So I can't say I'm a Brit pop

(01:22:07):
fan because I'm. That's pretty much it for me.
There's like 4 Brit pop records, but there were like other bands
that like I'm not a Stone Roses fan, I'm not really into, I
don't know who who the other Brit pop bands were, but I mean,
what's the story? Morning Glory is like a S tier
album to me and definitely maybeit's great and there's a couple
Blur records too. So no, it's not like I'm

(01:22:28):
obsessed with Brit pop or anything.
It was more that I was really into The Chemical Brothers at
the time. I just think, I think what this
era of electronic music sufferedfrom was it was too a little too
repetitive. Like Daft, when Daft Punk,
Injustice and like that French house stuff came along, they
made it so much more interesting.
This era suffered when you go back and listen to it from just
a little bit over repetitive. So these songs that had features

(01:22:51):
where they actually like vocalists doing stuff worse,
we're just so much better. We're so awesome.
Like 3 of my honorable mentions are this kind of the same genre.
It was hard for me to pick one, but I just think this one's the
Best Song of of the of the ones that I had on here all.
Right, my last song has the 10thmost featured artist of all

(01:23:12):
time. Do you guys want to take a crack
at who the number one most featured artist of all time is?
Mine is number 10. Is it a rapper?
Yep. It's a Jay-Z.
Jay-Z #7. Is it Nicki Minaj?
Nicki Minaj does not make the top ten.
Wow. That's a she.
Has one of the. She has some of the best
features though. She's like a feature master.
Almost put beauty and the beat online.

(01:23:34):
Justin Bieber, Nicki. Minaj oh great fucking song.
It is. Yeah, so good.
Great song. I don't know of all time feels
hard. Most featured artists of all
time? Number one has been featured on
583 tracks and #10 has been featured on 197.
I'm sorry. It's not Jadakiss who is.
It Jadakiss is not in the top 10.

(01:23:56):
OK. Q-tip.
No, Q-tip's not in the top ten either.
All right, so #10 is T Pain is number 10, the artist is The
Lonely Island, and the song is I'm on a Boat.

(01:24:31):
Yeah, Dang it, I'm going to be so fucked up.
List. Really.
Really. Yeah, I wasn't going to let the
list escape one of the most. I don't know that we have any of
the most featured artists of alltime on the list, except for T

(01:24:52):
Pain. I didn't even think to look up
who the most featured were. I kind of just, I don't.
Most featured 583 features. Snoop Dogg #2 any guesses?
Lil Wayne is number two. 430 features that's.
Crazy. That's so much in their career.
T Pain's number 10, 197 featureshis best one being I'm On a

(01:25:14):
Boat. Mother fucker.
That Lonely Island album really was like a sweeping comedy album
that was just, it was like what everyone needed at the time.
Do you remember when that album came out and you couldn't escape
those songs? It was so much fun for like 3
months and then they kept doing like the featurettes with SNL

(01:25:35):
and then you would wait for likethe next song to come out.
There's the there's so many of them, there's so many features
on that. Michael Bolton is on the Cathy
Barrow song. But yeah, it's just so much fun
they had. 2 they like because this was on Incredibad but they
had like the turtle or no turtleneck and chain too.
Is is that where Dick in a box falls or no?

(01:25:57):
Or is that just SNO? I just had sex and Jack Sparrow
are on turtleneck and chain but I'm on a boat is on incredibly.
Incredibab. So they too, they'd like
back-to-back massive comedy albums.
This is the first comedy song we've had on the podcast ever.
Oh no shit. Yeah.
I feel good about that. You should feel good.
It's a great song do. You think little Dicky is comedy

(01:26:18):
or no I. Think what?
Lil Dicky is a rapper. Is he serious or is that comedy?
No God he's so fucking talented I don't think he's comedy like
it. I guess it depends on the song
because some of his songs are very funny but some of them are
pretty I guess. Is any of Little Dicky series?
Are you asking if he thinks it'sserious?

(01:26:39):
Just like, is that a comedy album or is he being serious?
That's so hard to judge because yeah, because even his show is
like super tongue in cheek stylecomedy.
I would God, that's a hard question.
I'm leaning the. 5th most listened to song is called
Professional Rapper and guess who it features?
Snoop Dogg there, Snoop. Dogg.
Snoop Dogg. I think Lil Dicky would be

(01:27:02):
considered comedy. Yes, and we haven't had a Lil
Dicky. On the.
Podcast slut yet? I I I would lean toward it being
comedy too, but. Respectfully, Pillow Talk is so
good. Pillow Talk is absolutely
fantastic and hysterical. I still I I like probably once a
month some random video of him doing like a freestyle just come

(01:27:24):
up in my feed in my. And just crushes it.
And just murders it every singletime.
Have you guys seen this? Has nothing to do with I'm on a
boat. Sorry but have you guys seen
that guy that has his entire mobile sampling rig?
Yeah, I just walked around all over the.
Place, Yeah. Because that they're all pretty

(01:27:45):
good and he's had some like big artists do it, but he just did
1. I don't know if I just saw it or
if it's a new one, but these dudes, it's like these four
games in Brooklyn and they just it is like that.
It needs to be AI. Hope they release it as a
single. It's fucking incredible and it's
all legit freestyle. It's not like, oh, is it

(01:28:05):
freestyle or did they just have these bars memorized?
Like the dude is rapping about what's happening at that exact
moment, about the fact that thisguy just sampled.
Like it is just incredibly impressive.
There's another guy named Harry Mack that does that.
Have you ever? Seen his name?
Yeah, Harry Mack. That does it.
And Harry Mack is bananas. That asks for four words from
the people that are watching him, and then he throws the four

(01:28:26):
words into his freestyle. Yeah, Harry Mack's ridiculous.
Well, should. This was fun.
So none of us picked #1 feature guy who diversified his
portfolio the most, Mr. Snoop Dogg, best friend of Martha
Stewart. Snoop Dogg or Snoop Lion, which
also would have been some great features.
Snoop Lion has some Miley Cyrus features.

(01:28:48):
All right, honorable mentions. Jesus Christ, just go ahead,
I've got a laundry list honorable mentions I have.
A lot too. Rattle.
OK, I didn't do Bob Marley because there was the whole Bob
Marley thing the last time. I felt like that would have been
a lot, but turn the lights down Low.
Featuring Lauryn Hill. Oh yeah.

(01:29:08):
Beautiful, really, really beautiful fantasy.
Mariah Carey featuring ODB Oh. Oh my God, that's such a good
song. I know.
And as soon as I didn't say it, I looked at it at the top of my
list. I was like, I've made a great
mistake. ODODB had some of the best
features. Yep.

(01:29:29):
Got your money. Featuring Kalis too.
Would have been so good, sorry. It's OK, here I go.
Oops. Oh, my tweet featuring Missy
Elliott. That's a great fucking song.
Yeah, tweet didn't. Do much after that.
That was like tweets. Every single.
I don't know anything. Awesome tweet.
Accept that song. Oh, it's such a good song.
Just that, hate it or love it, the game featuring $0.50.

(01:29:53):
You did lean heavy hip hop huh? Yeah, the only the only other
one that I really felt like thatwasn't was stop Dragging My
Heart around Stevie Nicks, featuring Tom Petty, Tom Petty
Pickers, but felt like. Fibrous.
That feels like a duet, not a feature.
Yeah, so I didn't. I had that same thought and I
was like. Then I've got a duet, another

(01:30:13):
feature as well. And then it was the same thing
with Leon Bridges and Krangben is I think that they were
working together. That wasn't a feature.
And then the other one I had that I really wanted, which is
crazy because of the Charli XCX controversy between the two of
you. She redid the Brat album and
called it Brat. Same thing but BRAT but

(01:30:34):
completely different. And she redid the song Apple
with, which is right now my favorite musician of all time,
the Japanese house. And it's my favorite song.
I can't stop listening to it. I probably listen to it four
times today. Wow, it's so good.
I have no relationship. I had heard some of these like

(01:30:54):
I'd heard the what's the Bailey Eilish one on that record get is
it guess or is it? Yeah, it's a whole Algebra
remixes, but they're crazy. Ariana Grande Billie Eilish
Bonnevere is on that. 1975 is onone of the songs.
Julian Casablancas is on one of the songs, which is cool.
Yeah, and I respect Charlie X the Extra brat Summer, and she

(01:31:17):
comes back through whatever thissounds.
Andrew all her banger at recordsbefore Brat too like.
I'm trying to learn Japanese in the next seven months.
Completely unrelated. How many hobbies are you going
to have? I couldn't have as many hobbies
as I want. The world's my fucking oyster,
Jess. You see how he gets combative
when you're you're not being combative, you're just trying to
engage him, Hey. Listen, it's competitive.
I got, I got crochet, I got burglary, I got Japanese.

(01:31:41):
Gambling. Gambling, I got hobbies for
days. Car detailing disc golf.
No slow minutes. I got my car detailed the other
day and I thought of you, because it's really vulnerable
when people, we have this one where you just drive through,
but there's actual humans insidecleaning at every single
different stage. But it was the before that I
think is like the most vulnerable part because you see

(01:32:02):
people frantically taking shit out of their car.
And I saw somebody, you know what I mean?
OK. That's Christ.
I was like, you eat shit for breakfast, wasn't it?
Yeah. This guy behind me pulled out a
huge Ziploc bag with like a really sweaty head of cabbage in
it. I found a rotten tomato under

(01:32:23):
somebody's seat before. You did.
What's the craziest? That's the craziest.
No, that's not the craziest shitI found in people's cars.
A lot of I mean how, how crazy, gross or crazy.
I mean either. Gross.
Craziest loaded guns. I have found several loaded
guns, like under people's seats and shit like that.
Grossest is usually just like little kid shit, you know, not

(01:32:47):
like actual poop, but like little kid like, yeah, like
melted gross shit. Like anytime milk is involved,
it's fucking gross. Like if he's drinking milk or
it's like, oh God, yeah, milk isthe word.
Don't give anybody milk in your car.
Milk's got no business being in your car.
But yeah, 4. 20 head of lettuce or cabbage.

(01:33:10):
Why did he have a Ziploc bag of cabbage?
I didn't ask. Him.
Oh, I understand, but I'm. It.
Was a rhetorical question that was me wondering out loud why in
the world somebody would have. He's going to make some warm
coleslaw when he got home. Roderick, it's your turn.
Around I had this one was the closest to being picked because
I figured it was the best I'm ever going to get with picking

(01:33:31):
the Deftones. But actually having You Like It
Don, which is Deftones featuringMaynard from Tool Passenger, and
it's mostly Maynard singing on that song.
It's actually a great song. I don't dislike the Deftones.
Yes. You do I.
Just it just makes me uncomfortable.
I still yet to, I've still yet to pick them, which is fine, but
that's a great song. It's just they're all honestly,

(01:33:51):
the reason I didn't pick it is because it's probably not even
in my top 10 Deftone song. So it just felt a little bit of
a stretch for me. And I'm not a Maynard Keenan fan
per SE, but from my childhood I love this song.
But somebody's watching me. Rockwell featuring Michael
Jackson and then The Crystal Method featuring Filter.

(01:34:12):
Hey Tim, we're still waiting on our fucking filter stuff.
Yeah, we are guy from filter. Still waiting.
No, Tim is supposed to talk to the guy from filter who's
supposed to get us the filter stuff.
They've scented candles for someshit.
I need candles, I need, I need whatever.
Just so they needed scents of candles.
But trip like I do from spawn soundtrack, spawn soundtrack.

(01:34:34):
Remember that soundtrack? Yeah, fuck yeah.
I got a soundtrack song online. Honorable mentions so.
That that's it for me. I mean, I had a couple more like
Electra songs. I'm not going to bother you with
the more Chemical Brothers stuff.
Busta Rhymes featuring Mariah Carey and Flip MO Squad.
I know what you want. Busta kills him in that one.
Mariah is great at features too.Yeah, she has.

(01:34:55):
Got so many good features. She does Silk Sonic after last
night. You got Thundercat and Bootsy
Collins on that one. Why, why, why They got 2 bass
players up in there. Because they can.
Because they can. Shit, I lost my spirit.
Oh my. My soundtrack song was Hero by
Chad Kroeger and Josie Scott, the singer of Saliva off of the

(01:35:17):
Spider Man 3 soundtrack. Yeah.
I remember that song. I remember kind of a great song.
Remember click clip, but click clip, boom.
That was the big Saliva song, I think.
And then my last one, which is not a feature, it is a duet, is
Up Where We Belong by Joe Cockerand Jennifer warns.
That's a beautiful song. That is hard though.
Like when it's a solo artist with another artist.

(01:35:39):
It is just kind of a duet, isn't?
It it was a duet. That one's definitely a duet.
Yeah, 'cause ain't no Mountain High enough.
Is that a duet or no? Marvin Gaye and.
It's a totally, it's totally a duet.
We'll have to do duets as a separate one because that's a
whole other thing we'll have to do.
If you guys get a chance go on Joe Cocker on Spotify and just

(01:36:00):
the best like dude hanging out at a gas station picture.
Of. The guy of Joe Cocker for his
photo. Like that dude's hanging out
outside a gas station right now.Right now.
Still. Yeah, for sure.
You want to read the. Read the list.
Yeah, this is oh man, this is going to take some time.

(01:36:21):
OK, here we go. What's love?
Fat Joe featuring Ashanti, ClintEastwood Gorillas featuring Delt
Shit, The funky Homo Sapien. Bring the Noise Anthrax
featuring Public Enemy, Francis and the Lights.
May I have This Dance featuring Chance the Rapper Under
Pressure, Queen featuring David Bowie.

(01:36:42):
Saw Red Sublime featuring Gwen Stefani sisters are doing it for
themselves. Annie Lennox featuring Aretha
Franklin? Or is it Aretha Franklin
featuring Annie Lennox? Well, it ended up hanging up on
both of their albums, so you could do it either way.
Sounds like a do what? I like the Aretha Franklin
featuring Eurythmics better. Close your eyes and count to

(01:37:02):
fuck. Run the Jewels featuring Zach de
la Rocha The Motown song Rod Stewart featuring the
Temptations Objective Sexuality.Big Boy featuring Phantom Gram,
Phantom Phantom Gram, Phantom Gram.
Phantom. Gram Phantogram, Let Forever Be
Chemical Brothers featuring NoelGallagher and I'm on a boat, The
Lonely Island, featuring T Pain. That's just going to as soon as

(01:37:27):
that song. Everyone.
'S going to smile so many post its.
Good luck sequencing that. I know I feel like there's going
to be a lot of probably frustration and upset, so at
least you'll get engagement. We probably missed a lot of
people's favorite features, so. Yeah, there's a lot.

(01:37:50):
That's fine. How to?
Make. What's it feel like to be the
first three time guest? First three time.
Third time's a charm. Really special, you guys know I
love hanging out with you. It's a good time.
Big time mixie love listening, so it's even more fun to be on

(01:38:13):
here and get to hang out and talk about music with two of my
favorite people. Do you only have the black John
Cusack T-shirt? Yeah.
You don't have the green shirt or the hood or the crew neck.
No, I don't have the crew neck. I want the crew neck but we have
some international shipping issues.
Well, the good news is, is that if you remember, I'm bringing a
Flora and yourself a gift at theend of March.

(01:38:36):
I do. I can bring the great crew neck
with me because I will be in Vancouver for two weeks.
OK, that'll be cool. So I'll bring the great crew
neck with me, which is exciting. What a nice thing to look
forward to the Flora knitted combo for me and her and the how
many mixtapes were. Everything is coming up, Jess.

(01:38:56):
Always is. Yeah, fantastic.
This was a good time. Had fun hanging out.
Always is. Good theme is a really good
theme. It's like midnight where Rod
lives. These three time zone stuff is
for the birds. Yeah, even more impressive that
you were the first three timer because it's such a bitch to
schedule these three time zone. Yeah, not only that, but you got

(01:39:17):
that LinkedIn photo shoot now that we're done.
So I want, I want to miss you, to miss my time with that.
No. I'm howdy here.
Brats. Good time, Sir.
Bye, guys. Still floor, great job.
Thanks for keeping the Internet.Running.
Hey, thanks. Repeat.
Bye.
