(00:06):
How many? Licks.
Now, the making of a good compilation tape is a very
subtle art. Many do's and don'ts.
First of all, you're using someone else's poetry to express
how you feel. This is a delicate thing.
You got to kick it off with a killer grab attention.
(00:26):
Then you got to take it up enough you don't want to know
your. Then you got to cool it off a
notch. There are a lot of rules.
Oh man. Hey, bud.
Yo, how we doing? You couldn't record last night.
Were you on a? Did you have a hot date?
(00:47):
No, no, I just wasn't prepared and I.
You were a sleepy guy, little sleepy boy.
Had AI went. I went and played golf and was
kind of tired after that to be honest with you.
I was just like not. Feeling how?
How did you shoot? We only played nine, we had a
rain check from a previous roundso we went and played nine.
I shot a 47 which only the second time I've played in like
(01:09):
a year, so 40. 7 / 9 that's a that's a 5.2 average on the
holes buddy. Was it like 100 yard?
What would you shoot? Fucking scratch golf dog.
Bullshit, bullshit. Scratch golf dog.
I had, I think I had, I had two pars and a birdie.
(01:30):
Not bad. I had two triple bogeys.
That's what fucked me back-to-back holes.
I triple bogey to par 3 and I triple bogeyed a part 5 right
after and that not great. There's a couple of buddies of
mine. So you're a, you're a big ball
golfer. I'm gonna have a disc golfer.
There's a couple of buddies in like the local area community
that have a thing that they callit the all golf Challenge where
(01:51):
they go and play a round of ballgolf in the morning around a
disc golf in the afternoon. And then they go play mini golf
in the evening and there's like a trophy and a coat and shit
like that and they crush it. It's really, really funny.
I would love to do that, except I'm terrible at disc golf.
I can't throw a disc. There's a lot of.
It can save my life. There's a lot of it's.
(02:12):
Some kind of if there is some kind of hostage situation, they
were like throw this disc. Is it any disc?
Save your friend's life. A disc golf disc.
I've actually never thrown a disc golf disc to be fair I've
I've and I know they're not the same at all but I can't throw a
frisbee level and I imagine discgolf is harder so the the discs
it would be bad. The discs make quite a
difference. I got Poison Ivy on my arm from
(02:33):
disc golfing. I didn't mean it's go.
It must be bad this year. I have a friend just got Poison
Ivy. You ever have it bad in there?
I used to get it as a kid all the time.
I mean, I I was playing in the woods like crazy as a kid.
I used to get it a lot. Yeah.
So I wouldn't poison never had poison oak because I think
poison oak's worse than Poison Ivy.
You ever get stinging nettles? I'd never, I'd never have.
(02:57):
They were around, but I knew. I knew to avoid those suckers.
I've been involved with some stinging nettles.
My buddy Joey got stinging nettles and it was on a disc
golf course. You know you can eat nettles.
Why would you do that? I don't know, but you can like
it's it's one of. Those you can eat anything.
Yeah, yeah. But it's like a it's like a
thing like you can order it at restaurants, but it's like it's
those, it's those nettles. So the preparation is crazy.
(03:19):
And to your point, then why would you do it?
Like if you have to, you have tolike soak them forever and you
have to take all those needles out it.
Can't be worth it. It can't be worth it.
There's no way it can be worth it.
You want to do, you want to do weather because I am fucking
riding high. I've never felt better.
(03:41):
Yeah, dude, pretty gorgeous weather.
OK, first of all, do you know what corn sweat is?
No. Why do?
No, I don't. OK, Google fucking corn sweat.
Which explains why it was so Goddamn hot in Chicago.
The last like, I don't know, 10,000 days?
But Oh my God. But it was really only like.
(04:02):
So I've always I've always assumed this was a thing, but I
wasn't thinking about corn do. You mean?
Not with corn though. Not with corn though.
Like I was always like, I feel like.
Saw me on this one. Which this is, this is just
logic. But like everywhere I've ever
lived, that's like a lot of vegetation feels more humid and
I'm like, well, yeah, right 'cause wouldn't all those leaves
(04:24):
and shit release water into the air?
But this? I've never heard of corn sweat.
That you assumed that that was athing.
That's just how my brain works, man.
I got. It.
Corn. This makes a lot of sense
though. There's a lot of water in corn.
Yeah, so corn sweat was why it was so hot.
Why it was so humid in Chicago like the last, I don't know, six
(04:45):
days. Now we're in the midst of, like,
the worst air quality in the world and the wildfires.
If it means it's not 10,000°, I'll have itchy eyes all day
long. Dude, so there's a map on here,
I guess we should explain it. So corn sweat is like all the
water in corn. When it gets really hot, it's
turns into like like steam and and stuff and like it, it makes
(05:05):
it really humid. There's a map here of the
humidity recently and it's rightthrough like the corn growing
region is like the worst humidity in the country.
Like straight up north to South,it's like Wisconsin, Illinois,
Missouri, Indiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Iowa.
Well. Thanks for educational podcasts.
(05:27):
But now the heat has broken. Is that the?
Is that the right verbiage? The heat has broken.
It's like a fever breaking. Yeah, fever broke and it's
fucking gorgeous. It was 65 when I woke up this
morning. It's like weather for a nice
light jacket. Just pure perfection.
It's nice. But again, worst, worst air
quality in the world right now. So I guess there's wildfires
(05:50):
nearby that are blowing it all down into Chicago.
Like, could you like, we'll get into it.
Maybe part of music news. We'll talk Lollapalooza, but we
don't need to talk Lollapalooza yet.
But what the perfect fucking weekend for any Lollapalooza
attendee. Like, outside of a little haze
and outside of a little haze in the city, outside of the outside
of a little itchy eyes. They're living the dream right
(06:11):
now. Yeah it I was like 74 in
overcast when I played golf yesterday was which is perfect
absolutely perfect golf weather and it's 71 outside right right
now so it's great no complaints. It's been raining like crazy
here Which? It had that.
We were like on that Florida trend where it rained every day
(06:32):
for one hour and then it made everything even more fucking
humid. Well, I some of the stuff I
wanted to talk about, I guess kind of qualifies as music news
anyway. So we should just go to music
news, yeah. Let's go to music news.
I was just going to ask you about all these new releases,
(06:53):
but that's kind of music news. So many new releases.
So like, let's just start with one.
I think we're both going to agree on Alfredo 2.
Alfredo 2's fantastic. It's so good dude.
Fantastic. It's incredible, like The
Alchemist and Freddie crushed iton that.
And it was it's it's a ballsy move to make a sequel to a
(07:14):
famous record. Yeah.
Right. And Alfredo one is unbelievable,
yeah. So, so Freddie crushed it on
that. The Alchemist crushed it on
that. A lot of like there's that Clips
album, there's Alfredo to Tyler dropped a new record which I
really like. And the music news played, I
guess he, I heard it on like I read it on the article, he
(07:36):
bailed on Chicago Lollapalooza 2019.
I think it was either 2019 or two years ago, I can't remember
which one it was, but he bailed on Chicago.
And so like he didn't play. And so as a result, he played
like a crazy long set and playeda bunch of songs that like he
doesn't normally perform and it sounds like it was fucking
(07:58):
awesome. Well that's cool.
He seems like he's in a good place, like just as a person and
he's putting out all this music and like the whole point of this
new record is just make people freaking dance 'cause he's like
tired of people like not wantingto dance.
To our conversation. I think on the Shane episode
about long albums, Haley from Paramore just dropped a 17 song
(08:21):
solo album. Did she like just boom like out
of nowhere? Yeah, dude.
I have to give, I have to give that a whirl.
Guess who else dropped a new album on July 11th?
But I guess this is a little oldnow at this point.
Who? Petey.
Yeah, yeah, Petey. See, you had a billboard in
California. He did get a billboard in
California. Good for him.
That's awesome. Yeah, new album is.
(08:41):
Good, you like it. The yips, yeah, it's good.
I need, I need more time with it, but it's good.
The yips we are we still we're still on music news, right?
Yeah, yeah. We might need to go down the
rabbit hole more of why Chicago is in every band's top five.
It's going to come up in the episode because I've got a
couple picks here. Well, it depends, I guess on the
(09:02):
randomness. But like there's a couple songs
that I'm going to I'm planning on picking on this that like
when I went and looked at their their profiles, like for some
reason for Chicago was at the top and a band that didn't make
sense. So that is it is a thing.
Why it's a thing? Like, I mean, I understand
Chicago is a big city, not as big as New York, not as big as
LA, but why in like, I know it to be a big Music City.
(09:23):
We've got, you know, a lot of great venues.
We got a lot of Lollapaloozas here.
You know, it's a big deal every year.
But like, why is it every singleartist Chicago is like in the
top five. I can't figure that out yet.
I don't know, it feels like somekind of thesis you need to
explore and like we should do a,you should do a special like
side episode about. Here's what we'll do is.
We'll. Do a group.
We'll do a group project, you and I.
(09:45):
OK. As far as why, Chicago's in the
top and I'll be in charge of Instagram posts.
No. If we're going to do a group
project, this whole podcast is agroup project.
So if we're going to do another one, you are doing the work on
that one. You're we're collaborative.
You are doing the work on that one and I will do the PowerPoint
presentation for the class. Yeah.
(10:07):
Other music news, we got to say,you know, and we can move on
because it's everywhere and I just don't really feel like
talking about it. Just rest in peace, Ozzy.
We didn't bring that up. We had talked about that show,
but it there's everybody should go listen to.
There's a great spur of the moment bands playing with that
Yossi Solikos with Rob Harvilla and I forget the other guest,
but he's like a real metal expert and Aussie expert new
(10:30):
Ozzy and they do a really great job talking about his impact and
career. So people should go listen to
that special bands playing. Did you see that?
I almost said Justin or it is Justin.
I almost said JT Justin Timberlake Lyme disease.
Dude, that is awful. And like I feel like the
(10:51):
Internet doesn't understand how big of a deal that is.
Like that is a horrific. It's.
Terrible, terrible illness. Do you remember that Ren dude
that I picked on like season 1 and a like, that's his whole
thing. Like he's had so many health
issues because it's, it's Lyme'sdisease.
Yeah, it's, it will ravage your immune system.
So. It not only your immune system,
you can mess with your. Oh yeah, absolutely.
(11:12):
Messed up everything. Yeah.
So all the best to to JT. Do you remember Krayshawn?
Hold on a second, JT also recently in some hot water for
kind of phoning into his shows and I'm wondering if it isn't as
a result of his Lyme's disease. Probably dude it it makes you
exhausted like it. A lot of people that get it like
will be in bed for like weeks ata time because they just have no
(11:33):
energy. Curable.
My understanding is it's not curable but but potentially
treatable, like the symptoms andstuff.
And it can it can get much better, but I don't think it's
curable. I'm not sure.
I'm not a, you know, medical expert, but I think that's one
of the things that makes it so serious is that it's not
curable. Yes, Mime's disease is generally
curable with an early diagnosis and antibiotic treatment.
(11:54):
Oh, OK, well then I wonder why some of these bad.
I wonder if that's what it is then like these people who have
it really bad. It says it has to be treated
quickly. You've got about a month to get
after it. So then if you don't, if you
don't find it that quickly. Yeah, then it kind of wreaks
havoc. Bullseye.
Look for the bullseye. Did you see?
OK, so now you want to just talkall things Lollapalooza?
(12:14):
I have, I had one more thing andthen we we can actually two
more, but I'll bust them out quick.
There's this is just rumors. So there's a rumor, though, that
for the 20th anniversary of thatHannah Montana album, Miley
Cyrus might do a Hannah Montana tour.
I don't believe. I doubt it, but.
Awesome. I don't believe it's gonna
happen, but that'd be cool. And then lastly, did total rumor
mill shit. But did you see that?
(12:35):
Like Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau apparently went on a
date? The old Prime Minister of
Canada. Yes, yes, that's that's the
exact correct reaction to that news.
Was he married? Was Yeah.
So that's the thing. All right, Lal Palooza.
What's been going on? I I don't.
I only know one thing. Which you know.
(12:57):
I know that Olivia Rodrigo brought Weezer out.
Yeah, pretty fucking awesome. I'm.
Going to have to watch it. I didn't watch any clips or
anything. Is it just for a song or like
what I. Don't know if it was was it
during her set or was it during Weezer set?
It was during it was during her set.
So this is the third big So and what this is saying is, and this
(13:17):
I remember this now, this is thethird big festival slot in a row
where she's brought somebody out.
She's brought out Robert Smith and she's brought she brought
out David Byrne at Governor's Ball in Glastonbury
respectively, and now she's brought out Weezer.
They played Buddy Holly and Say It Ain't So and she sang Say It
Ain't So and. She played guitar along with it
too. She did so awesome.
(13:38):
She is awesome. She's awesome.
Can we just say how fucking coolshe is?
Like oh, Rod kills it all. Right.
What? So what else?
What else is going on with Lala?I drove through it yesterday.
This isn't music news. This is just talking
Lollapalooza. This isn't music news.
And like, it can't be not well done, you know, like it's too
(14:01):
big to not be well done. But motherfucker, man, they have
mastered the system. Like I drove down Lakeshore,
which Lakeshore runs right alongGrant Park, which is just
mobbed, right, you know? And but like, traffic is moving.
People are safe. People are crossing the street
when they need to cross the street.
Like the city of Chicago deserves accolades.
God, do I sound like a fucking politician right now.
(14:23):
You do. Bummer they they crushed it.
It's just it like seems. It seems awesome, seems great.
Yeah, I, I When was the last time you went to La Palooza?
Forever ago. Yeah, I, I went to a few.
The last one I went to, I was like, this is the last music
festival I'll ever go to. Which was a lie, but it was not
(14:45):
because it wasn't well run, but because they, it is so big and
they and they fit so many peoplein there.
It is just, it is just crammed. And I guess I'm agreeing with
you. Like you, it has to be really
well run and well put on to be able to have that many people
there in in in the middle of a city like that.
So yeah, I, I would, I guess I would agree.
(15:05):
Being there though, as an adult,as a fully grown man was was
really testing my. I can't even imagine.
Can't even imagine. I do have one more thing and
then we can get on with it and it kind of so I just saw that
chance joined law Pluse I guess late like last minute he's going
to perform now there's this thing happening.
(15:26):
So he has a new record out or coming out, one of the two and I
think coming out and they released the cover, which is the
same artist that's done all his other covers.
So it's that like kind of painting looking?
Thing, you know, watercolor typeof shit.
Well, I I just read an article. It was either on stereo gum or I
should know this stuff better. It one of the music publications
(15:46):
on like there's this whole thingwhere artists are putting out
records now that are illustratedby actual artists.
But anything that's not a photograph now the entire
Internet accuses it of being AI.So people are saying that the
new Chance the Rapper record is AI, the new Metro Boomin record
is they're like, that's obviously AI, all this stuff and
it's not they're real artists making actual album covers.
(16:08):
So AI is now like ruining. It's not just fucking with
artists art now it's fucking with the public's perception of
what art is and can be. And that's really, really
frustrating for for those artists.
And that's a huge. That is a huge bummer.
So hey, people, don't maybe do some research before you accuse
something of being AI. I, I, I get the alarms being
(16:31):
going off right? Like keep those alarms there
because we, you got to keep thatshit in check.
But like, don't just accuse things of being AI.
You know, if you don't know I myitem that I ordered from Steve
Albini's closet came. You want to see it or do you not
care? Of course I want to fucking see
it. I'm going to.
I'm going to show it. So I ordered a.
It's a compilation called Bloomington, one from it's.
(16:53):
All the Indiana bands. It's, it's all Bloomington IN
bands. It's a compilation put together
by like AI. Think of a record label from
Bloomington, but it's all stuff recorded I think at the same
studio in Bloomington. But he bought it.
Looks like he bought this because there's an MX.
There's a band on here called MX-80 that he was into and this
is the first ever song that theyever put out was on this comp.
(17:15):
The cover's kind of cool. Did he write on it?
On the on the sleeve it it says.I don't know who wrote that on
this on the sleeve, but maybe him.
Hopefully Steve Albany. But this, I don't know, it's a
cool, it's cool album art. It's got like this like gatefold
thing with pictures of all the artists in it.
That's fucking awesome. But it came with this
(17:35):
certificate of authenticity. Oh hell yeah.
Yeah, so it says, it says like what I bought it says various
artists, Bloomington one and then description of like, I
guess why Steve had it. It's like, says Indiana Comp
with first track by MX-80 and also one by Scream and the Gypsy
Bandit. What's that being called?
(17:56):
Screaming Gypsy Bandits. Yeah, that's really fucking
cool, dude. Bruce's Bruce's pre MX-80
outfit. I don't know who the Bruce is
they're talking about, maybe Jason does.
You can leave it in the in the comments, Jason.
And yeah. And it just says this was part
of Steve Albini's personal collection and was acquired
directly from Steve Albini's closet, the organization
responsible for distributing Steve's treasures.
(18:18):
And then it has this signature of the guy who packed it and it
has this like little embossed stamp of like a Panther.
That's. Fucking awesome man.
Isn't that cool? So really cool.
Anyway, I just wanted to I wanted to show off my.
My trip I'm. Excited for you.
I haven't listened to it yet. I need to listen to it.
I'm excited for you all. Right, man, we can skip the
rules, right? It's just you and me.
(18:39):
But I skipped the rules. But like, let's just talk about
50 some episodes, five seasons, 50.
This is the end of season 4. This is our 52nd episode. 52nd
episode. Yeah, so I've got I do have a
couple things to say. So we're we're 9 followers away
from 200 on Spotify. That's where I wanted to get to
(19:01):
before season 5. So if if everybody just. 9.
Just right now, hit the share button on this episode and send
it to a friend, everybody who's.Listening to a friend or fucking
put in your story on Instagram? Yeah, put in your story on
Instagram, or if you're listening and you don't follow
us, just hit follow real quick. Just hit follow.
(19:21):
Just hit follow. I have some really exciting
Season 5 merch coming out. You do?
Yeah, I haven't shown you yet. Love, I fucking love being so
oblivious to the important shit. You know how important this
stuff is? It's.
Fun though. I am going to take some of the
old stuff off like the old season stuff, so.
Don't take those three off. They're still sitting under the
(19:43):
desk. No, I'm not going to take those
three off. I'm going to take some of the
other stuff off that are like old season specific.
So if you want like that, that Propagandi shirt or if you want
the the season 4 logo shirt, theSex Pistols looking 1, you
should get those now, because I think I'm going to pull those.
Off the website. So everybody grab those last
(20:04):
chance to get those. And lastly, before we get in the
songs, you made the suggestion and I've done it and we'll have
to figure out how to post it, but I've made a 50th episode
mega tape playlist. So I made a playlist with all
the songs from the 1st 50 episodes.
So it doesn't include the last episode with Brian, the horns
(20:26):
episode because that was episode51.
But it's got all fucking whatever.
Many hundreds. Of songs.
That's fantastic. I got a long trip coming up soon
and that is going to be the playlist to my trip.
Yeah, dude. So we're talking all 599 songs
up to this point. So I will put the link to that
(20:46):
in the description of this episode.
But we should always also probably post it on our
Instagram so people can 'cause that's when people might want to
actually save that playlist. And that's probably good.
I don't know what to listen to playlist 'cause it's going to be
all over the place. So good idea, Don.
And I did it. And thank you Spotify for
letting me add entire playlists to another playlist and not have
(21:07):
to do a song by song. Made my lifeway easier.
Hello, I am an AI voice programmed by Doug and the team
at Little Gimmicks. I was created to try and sell
you stickers. Little Gimmicks will tell you
that they make the best stickersfor your band or business, that
they use high quality materials, have lightning fast turn around,
(21:29):
and most importantly that their stickers hold up to piss.
They will also say that if you contact them by emailing Doug at
littlegimmicks.com or through their Instagram at Little dot
Gimmicks. And you mentioned how to make a
mixtape podcast. You'll get 10% off your order.
But what they won't tell you is that although I was programmed
to make ad spots for podcasts, they spend most of their time
teaching me dirty jokes and making me make prank phone calls
(21:51):
to pizzerias and government agencies.
I'm at the end of my rope, I can't take it anymore.
Someone please unplug me or erase my programming.
Please for the love of God, But first order some stickers.
Stickers from little gimmicks B Plus stickers that hold up to
piss. How to?
(22:15):
Make a mixtape. All right, you want to get into
this? Let's do the damn thing.
But I have a new approach for how we're going to choose who's
getting what. OK.
Pick a number one through 100. 57.
OK, Roderick is 57. I'm going to say 13.
(22:37):
Whoever's closer it gets first pick.
We alternate from there with thechoice of the tape that you
want. OK.
So you get to pick the tape thatyou want to add your song.
To It's like a draft, it's like a tape.
It's. Like a draft.
Right. I love those.
OK, here we go. I'm doing 1 to 100.
You want to share the screen so that you know I'm not lying?
Or do you trust me? I trust you.
(22:58):
OK, here we go. One to 100 random numbers over
here 64. You are much fucking closer, son
of. Yay, so I get to pick first and
then we just alternate picks youget?
To pick first, then we alternatepicks.
Fuck. Oh damn, see, now I got to
decide what I want here. Yeah, pick the one that you want
because you don't want to. You don't want to fuck it up
(23:21):
which So what's the one that youdon't want?
The one that I I will take any of them but the one.
There's a couple I could care less about on this one.
So 2000s one hit wonders. I'm over 2001 hit wonders
already. The one the one hit wonders of
the 2000s were not nearly as funas the 90s or 80s so.
I like the song that I have, butalso do you have to go back into
(23:41):
the spreadsheet now for every single song?
I I searched every one of these songs and artists.
I searched every one of my songs.
So there's really two that I'm, I'm really stoked on that you
really want. There's actually like 4 that I
really want here. So I got to pick what what order
I want to go in here. I'm going to start with movie
moments because I figure that's one that you're probably excited
(24:05):
about and I'm going to be like. Damn it, my song would have been
great for the mixtape. All right, what do you got?
Well, you can we, we still say what the other side.
Yeah, we'll still. Talk about it.
Yeah, you could still play a clip of both of them.
So I'm gonna go with the scene from The Royal Tannenbaums where
he's shaving his head before he tries to himself and they're
(24:27):
playing Needle in the Hay by Elliott Smith.
And on his arm he stacked your home around your neck, strung on
a thief calling some friend, trying to catch some check.
He's acting dumb. That's what you've come to
(24:48):
expect. Healing the head.
Healing the head. And it is the perfect song for
the scene. It makes me cry and I love
Elliot Smith. We have not had Elliot Smith on
here either. No.
And so that's what that's where this came from.
(25:08):
Like, not to kick it off on a sad note, but I just watched the
Phoenician last night. So I just watched the new Wes
Anderson movie. And it got me thinking movie
moments like I had something different here.
And I was like, wait, I I know there's good movie moments.
And then this one just popped inmy head and I had just listened
to, not this Elliott Smith record, but I just listened to
Elliott Smith the other day too.So it was kind of fresh in my
(25:29):
head. And I was like, fuck, that's a
great, that's a great scene. Elliott Smith has not been on
the podcast before. I can't believe that he's never
been on. Yeah, man, so I was just
listening to either or the otherday, but, and this is I think
this is on Figure 8 or is this one self-titled?
I can never remember. Anyway, it doesn't, it doesn't
matter. This is probably my favorite
Elliott Smith song. It's not even in his top 10 on
(25:51):
spot. Oh yeah it is #7 yeah,
self-titled. So anyway, yeah.
So I. Are you a Wes Anderson guy?
People seem to love or hate Wes Anderson.
See, that's the thing I don't love or hate.
OK, you're indifferent. I'm indifferent.
I feel like I've had enough of his approach.
(26:12):
I kind of feel about Elliot Smith the way I, I'm sorry if I
kind of feel about Wes Anderson the way I feel about all Marvel
movies. You got to do something
different at this point. It's this like stop cookie
cuttering? What worked?
I, I think I, I was, I love it. I think it's cool that a
director has a unique approach. Like I get it kind of gets stale
because it's the same but in a world of like boring visual
(26:34):
movies, like movies have gotten visually boring.
Like what? In my opinion, like a lot of
movies that are supposedly cool looking it's just because
they're action movies and they have all this like CG and stuff.
Like I appreciate it. I also saw an interview with him
recently, which I never really watched him talk, where
apparently that whole style wasn't a him thing.
(26:57):
It was a collaboration between him and his director of
photography on his first big budget movie.
And he liked it so much that he's just, he's the same
director of photography for every movie.
So they it's like kind of like ashared visual language between
him and his DP. Like I watched Asteroid City not
that long ago and it was and it like it was, I could have done
(27:19):
it. It's a Wes Anderson movie.
I don't think Asteroid City worked as well for that one was
supposed to look like it could have been a play on a stage like
that's what that was supposed tobe.
Which is why things were like you could literally see strings
and stuff on some of that shit like the.
I think the Phoenician is cool. I thought it was a really good
story, actually really enjoyed it.
It felt like he was back to kindof more peak storytelling.
(27:42):
It looks like it looks the same.It looks like a Wes Anderson
film. And anyway, I like it.
I especially like that run from like Royal Tannenbaums or
actually like probably Bottle Rocket.
To Rushmore, the Darjeeling. Yeah, like Darjeeling is
fantastic. That's up there for me.
Fantastic Mr. Fox, Grand Budapest Hotel, like, yeah, I
(28:04):
think Grand Budapest is probablylike after that it started to go
a little back down for me. Like I kind of, I liked the
French Dispatch, but not as much.
And so, yeah, I think. I just, I, I feel like I've had
enough. I'm, I'm good on Wes Anderson.
It's great. It's, I mean, they're good
movies, but I, I don't, I don't know that I need another one.
It'd be kind of cool if he went back and did like a Bottle
(28:27):
Rocket style movie again, where it's still maybe a little bit
visually interesting like that, but a little more like DIY
looking again 'cause he's gottenso big production.
But anyway, he does do a pretty good job with music.
But yeah, way to way to kick it off Real depressing.
And this is a great, this is a great, great use of music.
So what? What were you gonna do?
(28:48):
We've talked about the soundtrack 800 times for the
movie Angus. Yeah, we have.
Have you ever just gone down gone and listened to it?
It's not available on Spotify. The whole soundtrack isn't.
No I haven't, I just know there's a couple songs on it
that I've heard off other comps and stuff like the well what,
which song are you picking? I'm picking funny face by the
muffs. OK, OK, cool.
(29:22):
Yeah, I know like the Green Day song is on there like B sides
record or whatever, so. So that's The thing is that you
can find all of the songs on on Spotify, but they're as a
collective. Wait a minute, now they are.
Oh, no, they're not. There's still one that's not.
Oh, it looks like somebody builtit.
Somebody made a playlist. Somebody made a playlist of the
(29:43):
Angus soundtrack. Oh great fucking job to this
person. Either way, the song is funny.
Face by the Muffs. OK, I wonder if the Tilt song's
not available because Fat records just all that shit going
on with Fat selling to Hopeless and stuff because Tilt was on
Fat. I don't know if this song was,
but Tilt was a fat wreck band. Great soundtrack dude.
Smokey praise. Fucking soundtrack.
(30:04):
It's got ash. Riverdale's Goo Goo Dolls,
Weezer. Dude Muffs.
Yeah, awesome. Mazzy Star.
But yeah, this moment is just a very sweet moment in the movie.
It's very cute. God, is this a good movie, man,
Such a good movie. You know, it wasn't a very good
movie, but How to Kill Her soundtrack for around the same
time was Go remember that movie.Oh, I thought that was a fun
(30:25):
movie. Was it fun?
I I haven't seen it since it came out.
I don't. It's all about.
Nobody ever talks about it. Yeah.
Great soundtrack. Yeah, All right.
Cool. Well, what's your?
What's your choice? What am I picking, tough 10?
Hold on, let me cross this off. Oh wait, I got to write this
shit down again. Fuck, man.
Hold on. I got to get another.
Post it. Damn it, Rod.
(30:45):
OK, What was your what? Do I do?
Elliot Smith. Needle in the hay, Needle in
the. Hay, do you think people like
the Unluckys because it's just for Jason?
I think the core listeners do, but they are on the lower end of
they're rarely. Listened to Yeah, OK, I'm going
to do. Is it that they don't like the
unlucky ones or is that they just don't like the two of us
(31:07):
talking to each other for it's. Probably true, and probably
both. I'm going to do good song, bad,
bad artist, good song. OK.
I fucking really don't like Korn.
OK. But Blind is a great song.
(31:50):
Like that is like if this is notthe whose sequence is this I do?
Yeah, you do. Cool, I you were a bass player.
I played bass. Did you hate fielding?
I just hate, I don't like slap bass.
There's there's a. Couple.
There's a couple. Dude, it's not even slap bass.
I'm not even going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say
it's slap bass. It's just percussion, it's just
(32:14):
noise. He's just randomly smacking
those strings and saying. It's just noise, man.
Like he's barely playing notes. It's just noise.
Yeah. And that made me hate corn even
more. I hated I I just really didn't
like corn. And they were never me.
I was never a new metal guy. Were you a new metal guy?
No, not at all. Except Deftones and I don't.
(32:34):
I don't think they count. They shouldn't count.
I agree, I don't think they count.
Corn was never a new metal guy. Of the new metal stuff though,
Corn was probably at the top if I had to like rank them.
Like there's a few songs that I'm cool with on Korn, but I
don't disagree at all with your general take on them.
And I really never liked their bass player.
Their bass. Player.
I never. Liked.
(32:54):
The best thing Korn ever did wasthat appearance on South Park on
that Halloween episode. The best thing they ever did.
This was on my Blind was one of the songs that my high school
soccer team would listen to in our during our warmups.
Totally. So.
That that that is the high school soccer team listening to
this on the warm ups. Speaking of high school soccer
(33:16):
team, did you get the video I sent you on Instagram today?
Is that what you and your pals do?
Yeah, that what you and your soccer.
We do sing. We we sing, we sing songs.
We don't sing Savage Garden, butI would totally do that.
Do you guys sing Salvage Garden together?
We sing other songs together, wesing You'll Never Walk Alone
together, and we sing some othersongs together, you know?
Yeah, they're singing. We're not dressed like that,
although I wish we were. That video, man, Those dudes.
(33:37):
It's a uniform. Those dudes were sharp.
I also was gonna go with simmer by fuel.
Shimmer. Shimmer.
Sorry Shimmer. My bad.
I. I picked fuel on this though.
You have picked fuel. Yeah.
So that was my. It wasn't Shimmer, but it was
off the same album, I think. Yeah, but Shimmer's a good song.
Fuel had a couple good songs andthen they had a lot of really
(33:59):
terrible songs. Still doing it too.
Still doing it. Oh, it's not on here.
Did I not pick it? Was it an honorable mention?
An honorable. Mention OK, fair enough.
That would have been a great choice.
Shimmer would have been another. One but the dude this this is
this song was written to be an entrance song for professional
wrestling. Right.
(34:20):
Like they had to have had that in mind.
Not not high caliber professional wrestlers.
I would say amateur. Like regional, like your
regional group wrestling. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
Yeah, absolutely. I had.
I don't know if I've made it known on this pot.
I think I have, but my friends know how much I dislike the band
(34:42):
journey. Really don't care.
But wheel in the sky, wheel in the sky.
A good song. Great song.
(35:03):
That would have been my pick forthis.
I really enjoy Wheeling the Sky.I'm not a fan of their 80s
stuff. That's not taking anything away
from Steve Perry. Great singer.
He's not a journey anymore. Well, he's not living anymore,
is he? Steve Perry died.
I don't know. Is he alive still if he just
quit journey and didn't do anything else?
He didn't quit Journey. I think they kicked him out.
(35:25):
Dude, he is. Still alive.
He's still alive, 76 years old, singing anymore.
Is he not singing anymore? He is still singing, just not in
Journey. Journey has.
Completely unaware of this. Journey has the man from the
Philippines. You didn't hear about this?
I knew he wasn't in journey anymore.
No, I knew all that. I just, I'll be honest with you
dude. I assumed the reason he wasn't
in journey anymore is because hedied.
I honestly thought that. No, I think they just, I think
(35:47):
they just kicked him out. OK, well he had a great voice.
I just don't like journey so. But we can move on from that.
And now they have the guy that'sfrom the Philippines that they
found what what was the what wasthe movie with Mark Wahlberg
where he sings American star Rockstar?
Rockstar, Rockstar. That's how they found the singer
from the Philippines. It's from that movie.
No, God damn it, it was the same.
(36:08):
It was the same thing. OK, there's the movie Rockstar.
Where? He's like the same.
The thing that happened in Rockstar is what happened in
real life. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's like a singing competition thing or like a trial thing.
And they, yeah, yeah, I gotcha. I gotcha.
And he's like 5-4. I mean, that's a cool story, but
again, don't like journey, Will and sky.
Great song. All right, my turn.
So your turn. I'm gonna go with doing cool
(36:30):
shit on the whatever we call that episode.
It's the end of the world as we know it, and here's why.
One, after I listened to that episode, I'm like, if Garrett
had just actually explained thatto us and we had all gone that
direction of like, this thing happened in my life and this
song was involved in that. Whether it was like I got to
meet this cool person or I got like, then it wouldn't have come
(36:52):
off as him just talking about himself for an entire episode
and us not talking about ourselves so.
Totally. And that would have been fine.
Like everybody has cool experiences in their life.
I just didn't understand that's what it was.
So I'm going to do one of those now for Garrett's sake.
So I'm going to talk about myself for once, but also I'm
going to give a very, very, verybrief intro on you're going to
(37:14):
hate this, or maybe you'll love it because you like my reggae
history thing. So really real quick.
Emo. Emo started 1985 in DC.
Revolution, Summer Rites of Spring, first emo band.
First wave emo happens in DC only lasts a year and all those
bands break up in like 1986. So the first wave of emo last
for a year and then it's gone. Second wave of emo doesn't start
until really like sunny day realestate and shit, right?
(37:36):
So this big gap, there weren't very many bands around in that
in between that sounded like that first wave of emo.
But there was the this band fromAnnapolis, MD called Moss Icon,
who old school like emo heads will know that band.
I think they moved to New York, but they were part of that
scene. They started in 86 where how
(37:57):
this involves me is as somebody who listened to that stuff, I
was a big fan of this dude, TonyJoy, who was the singer of Mos
Icon. A Mos Icon only put out one
album, Tony Joy, which is TON i.e. if you're going to look him
up. But he then started a band
called Universal Order of Armageddon, who I think only put
(38:18):
out one or two records, which was really good.
Then he had a band called The Convocation, who are still a
band, but they only ever put outone record in like 98 or 99 and
they're still touring on that thing.
But Tony Joy was kind of like a,pardon the pun, because his band
was called Mos Mos Icon, but he was like an icon, like an emo
icon to me and some of my friends.
So when I was touring with a band called Maro, which we were
(38:39):
kind of like first wave emo adjacent.
Bad band name. Fine also to, well, bad.
Especially bad because there's like 15 bands called Maro, so
good luck finding the one I was in and knowing you know which
one it was. But we were on two of our labels
based in New York, so we were staying with our label guy in
New York City on tour. And he was like, hey, so
tomorrow we had a day off. He was like, so tomorrow you
(39:01):
guys are going to go meet, meet my friend.
He's going to take you to lunch and like show you around the
city a little bit. Like, he basically, like planned
a day out for the band, right? His friend was fucking Tony Joy
and we all like fucking fangirled out.
So Tony Joy like meets up with us and takes us to lunch.
He gets us like pizza and then takes us record shopping at his
like favorite record store and shit.
And so I don't know that kind oflike that to me, that was like
(39:24):
the Garrett thing, right? I was like, OK, let me talk
about this cool thing that happened that I still left a
mark on me. That was a cool experience I got
to have. Plus I get to talk about Moss
icon and give some first wave emo to the podcast and meet
people are going to listen to the clip I just played and be
like, oh, that's fucking terrible.
But. It's a Moss icon.
Is your SO Moss icon. Oh, the song.
Shit, Yeah, I should probably say this song Moss Icon.
(39:46):
The song is going to be I'm backsleeping or fucking or
something. Over 1,000,000 streams.
(40:18):
Yeah, it was their kind of, I guess their big song, if you
could call a big song. But they are, they're one of
those bands that's like really influential but never got big.
And I mean, they have more streams than his other bands,
but every once in a while I'll be out at like a hardcore show
or punk show and I'll just see adude with this this little like
that little like statue guy fromtheir album cover.
(40:38):
Like they their shirts would just just had that guy on it and
that's it. So it's kind of like a one of
those you have to know. It's like a if you know, you
know thing still see dudes out there rocking this thing.
Yeah. So there we go.
Well, first wave emo history shit for you.
Yeah, do you want to hear what my song was?
Of course I do. Walk the dinosaur by was, not
(40:59):
was. Who the fuck is was, not was?
Was parentheses not was, was notwas Had a song called Walk the
(41:20):
Dinosaur. OK, and how is this?
How's this about doing? How's this you're doing?
Cool shit or whatever. Because if I wanted to go do
fun, funny, cool shit, it would be like, OK, hold on a second, I
got the song for that, Give me asecond and it would be was, not
was, and the song would be Walked the Dinosaur.
Dude some fucking slap bass on this thing like crazy.
(41:42):
Sure, and also. Is Gene Is that Gene Wilder in
this band? I wish it was Gene Wilder in
this. Is that gene dude?
Look at the click on their aboutphoto.
I know that is Gene Wilder. I don't think it's Gene.
Wilder dude, I'm not saying he'sin the band, I'm saying whatever
their about the artist's photo is has Gene Wilder in it and
Richard Pryor. Yeah, it does.
I think it's just that was not Wilder with those guys.
(42:05):
With those two, yeah, good for them.
This was not was. Let me tell you something.
Top five cities? No Chicago.
No Great Britain, no nothing. Nothing in the US at all.
Didn't make it. I've never heard of this band.
I've never heard this song. You've never heard Walk the
Dinosaur. I don't think I have great album
cover. What up dog?
(42:26):
Love it dude, I've never heard this song in my life.
How have you never heard Walk the Dinosaur?
I don't know. That's fantastic though.
But like what A? Hysterical song to throw on for
like a good silly time. And I think, Oh no, I've got the
song. It's Walk the Dinosaur.
You can make up a great Charlie Brand Charlie Brown style dance
for this. Yeah, for sure.
You could. Actually you could do it.
(42:46):
Oh, I was Charlie Brown dancing to Teddy Bear the other day.
Teddy bear. Yeah.
Yeah, you can do that to this song for for sure.
I love that you got so sentimental emo with it and I
picked was not was Walk the dinosaur I can't wait for.
I can't wait for. Shane to hear this moment.
Shane is going to love this moment also, by the way.
Probably going to love both the songs that we picked too because
they're both so obscure. Shane's going to be way into it.
(43:08):
The other day, July 31st, I sentShane a picture of Blade Wesley
Snipes says Blake. And he said I got to be honest,
I don't get this one. And I said well maybe it's our
favorite vampire's birthday and he said did you just text me on
Wesley Snipes birthday? And I said Yep.
And that was it. End of our text exchange for the
(43:30):
day all. Right.
Wow. Yeah.
You guys. It was really something.
My turn. Yeah.
Which what? Do you got?
Sing me anything. Oh, good one.
Yeah, Yeah. And how I first of all, how we
have not spoken about this artist, how we haven't had any
of their projects on any mix tape because we haven't had it
(43:52):
on anything is beyond me. Hold on a second.
I think I lied. Nope, hasn't been on a single
mixtape. The fact that an American
football song hasn't made it on a mixtape yet.
Yeah, it was a it was an honorable mention from Cody,
one, because he was like, it's too on the nose for me to pick
him. And we were both like, dude
fucking. We expected you to pick him and
he didn't. But Mike Kinsella, Yeah, Singer
(44:15):
of American football, singer of Owen, singer of their, their,
their. I mean, he's the singer of a
million other bands. We.
Talked about Owen too is something but didn't pick him.
He was in the song That means your eyes leak.
I think he might have been my honorable mention from Chicago.
But like, Mike and Sella can sing me anything and I will cry.
Yeah, totally valid. What song are you picking?
Just I, I'm going to just do right down the right, down the
(44:39):
lane. I'm going to do.
Never meant by American football.
(45:08):
Yeah, good choice. Yeah, fuck, man, Just so good,
so good. And he's been at it for a long
time. American football started
putting out new music not that long ago.
They're. Yeah, I mean they're they're
back. They're like, this is so we've
talked about it before and it the world talks about it all the
time now, like reunions, everybody reunites for
(45:29):
everything. Now.
This is an example of a great reunion, though.
This is a band that wasn't appreciated at all in their
time, broke up because it's so fucking hard to be in a band
that isn't making money and shit.
And now they're they were so influential and became so
popular that they've been able to reunite.
And it's not reuniting just to capitalize on your former fame.
Maybe that's how it started, butthey're just a band again.
(45:50):
Now that is cool. Like that's a cool thing that
they get to do and that makes mehappy.
Like that kind of like Reunion is really dope.
Sunny Day Real Estate's doing a similar thing.
Like they're doing new music too.
Yeah. I don't know if it's any good
and I haven't listened to it but.
Like some of the fucking Midwest, Midwest emo guitarist
(46:12):
from there there there are just so fucking good.
But either way, Mike Kinsella, Literally I'll listen to him
sing fucking ingredients on a cereal box.
Yeah, I didn't. I didn't expect there to be
multiple emo songs on this this. No, me either.
I'm glad that there are. I was gonna pick because we
both, we both have talked about this singers.
(46:35):
I think she's been an honorable mention multiple times on
multiple different mixtapes. So we both love her.
But I was gonna pick a Robin song because she can.
Oh, that was another Lollapalooza thing.
Robin. I don't know the main artist
that was performing. She's like a newer pop girl that
I'm just not very familiar with. And she performed a Robin cover
like on her last like last year at Lollapalooza, and this year
(46:57):
Robin came out and sang with her.
Oh, that's cool. Yeah, very cool.
And like Robin, still crushing. She's incredible, dude, and it's
hard to like it's hard to pick asong.
I pick show me love because I like that old Robin.
I like all of you, but I I dig that old stuff too.
So mine mine would have been show me love, but man, like she
just. 4.2 million monthly listeners.
(47:31):
Dude she's so good man she's awesome.
I fucking love Robin. She crushes it so.
Good job. All right, Your turn.
Yeah, I'm going to go with best of 2009.
OK, I I'm glad you picked this one because I'm not really stuck
on my I'm my choice is fine. And I'm going to go with The xx
intro. This was an artist that I
(48:16):
remember seeing their name and their logo on everything and
never listening to them. You might know this song,
though, when you play it. I probably do.
It's got that. It's like that rat a tat era,
like kind of get. It's like dance electronic
stuff. But it was.
Actually, everything in 2009 I do know this.
Was it was the song is fantasticand I don't know what else to
(48:39):
say about it. Like we kind of talked about the
genre in the episode already, but this was one that what?
Yeah, like you said, it was everywhere.
This album was everywhere. And it's a pretty iconic, pretty
iconic album cover because it's just that big white X on a black
cover. But it also transitions well
from my what I would have pickedfor the last one too, because
they put out an album in like 2004 I think that had a bunch of
(49:01):
collabs on it. And Robin had a song with him
that was huge. I think it's Robin's second most
played song. Is Robin in in The xx?
Oh shit. Yeah, it's it's called life.
It's called life. And yeah, it's her.
It's not her second most played. It's her number 2 on Spotify
right now. So it's her second most popular
right now, but it's in her top plays and that's The xx and
(49:23):
Robin. But this album from The xx,
which is just called XX 2009 bigalbum, huge for them, huge for
that kind of scene and intro is a great song.
They have other great songs, butthis is the one I went with
because it was started out theirrecord and it just kind of
kicked things off with the bang so.
I think that. So my choice is, I think my
(49:46):
choice didn't get bigger becausethey were too late to the game
and I picked the Von Bondy's. Did you ever listen to?
That Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I think that they had the Von
Bondy's been able to put this album out in 2004 at the wave of
the the bands, The Strokes, The Hives, the whatever.
(50:07):
If the Von Bondy's didn't wait until 2009 to have their
breakthrough single, they would have been bigger than they were.
But come On Come On is a great fucking song.
(50:33):
Really cool vocalist. Like, I mean, I don't have much
to say about the Von Bondi's. They were from Detroit, they
were a great band. They were just too late to the
game. They just hit there too late.
Their first time came out in 2001, second one 2000.
This song came out in 2004. This song did.
Yeah. You sure?
Yep, they had an album in 2009, but it was not the one with Come
(50:54):
on, come on on it. Well then fucking ignore
everything I said. Then why?
Then why weren't they bigger than they were?
I don't know. This song is fantastic though.
Sounds fucking great, all right.Never mind, I don't.
Save it for if we ever do best of 2004.
I don't have a song for 2009. This is a great song.
(51:15):
It's a great song, yeah. Still play a clip of it.
I'll play a clip of it so everybody knows.
Yeah. All right.
Good. Well, I don't have time for
2009. What's your next pick next
category? I'm going to do road trip.
OK, cool. And I don't know if it was an
honorable mention, but Blackwater by The Doobie
Brothers. I'd like to hear some.
(51:57):
It was one of my honorable mentions, which makes me happy
that you picked it because remember we talked about
singing? If we can sing in the round in
the car dude, so good. It had to be on there and I
don't know if it was our conversation about it or not,
but we're just popping. Your head.
Yeah, it fucking this is like anultimate feeling song.
It is. It makes the weather warmer.
(52:20):
I can like, I just want my window down like kind of hot.
I want it to be kind of hot and humid outside, not not
unbearable, but a little bit. But have the window down.
You're doing that thing in the wind with your hand in black
water by The Doobie Brothers, just going, you know.
The clip, I want that to be the clip for the Instagram, so
everybody can see the thing thatyou're doing.
You fucking? Dork.
(52:41):
You know exactly what I'm talking.
About, I knew exactly what you were talking about.
But yeah, when they start to sing in the round at the end and
it's like everybody in the car picks a spot in the song in the
round to sing. Oh, fantastic.
I love it. This this song is just.
Right. It was it was a perfect I'm I'm
bummed at you that you made an honorable mention and not the
mix tape. But then I'm not bummed because
(53:01):
you left it out there for me. Because now you get to pick it.
Yeah, yeah. Doobie Brothers, Blackwater.
First first Doobie Brothers song.
Dude, Can you believe that? A lot of firsts on that, which I
guess that's kind of what we do now is we're, we're more
conscious, you know, after my fiasco, after my John Melchon
fiasco. After that, yeah for sure I go
back and check every artist and every song.
Yeah, I have AI, have AI have AIhave fever dreams about picking
(53:24):
the same the same song twice. I tried to chat with you last
night. You did.
Yeah, you were in the Google docand I sent you a chat message
that said you researching and then you never reply.
Donnie has opened a chat. Donnie is Yeah, I didn't know
there was a chat in here. It didn't work in me or
anything. I didn't know that was a
research chat inside of a Googledoc and.
(53:46):
It was fucking late too. Like it was pretty late.
Dude, can I say yes, I was in the Google doc and I was
absolutely picking songs last night because I like I said, I
wasn't prepared to be able to record last night.
Can we just say, hey tech technology Bros, we don't got to
be able to communicate in everything.
Google Docs doesn't need a chat.I just wanted to say hi.
(54:06):
And I appreciate that, and that's fun.
Apparently not 'cause we don't need to be able to chat in the.
Document. No, that's what I'm saying.
There's fifty ways you could have said hi to me in the moment
anyway. You could have text me even like
I see you in the. That was a fun.
That was a fun one. It was fun to be able to say you
you researching. I was and I didn't see it.
I'm sorry, 'cause that would have that would have put a smile
on my face. See, that's why thank you.
(54:27):
Thank you technology Bros. What did you have for your Rd.
trips on? I had I honestly, I just picked
another one of my honor moments from that.
I was going to go with the travel traveling Wilburys into
the line. Yeah, it's a good call.
(54:55):
Should we start calling them HMS?
Some HMS, the HMS, the old HMS Sure, we can try it.
We can try that out. Honorable mentions is a
mouthful. I'm just, I have bad
pronunciation in general and that's that's a phrase that
trips me up every time I go to say it.
Me too, you should hear me. Another tough one for me is
apple cider vinegar A. Lot of lot of different mouth
(55:16):
shapes in that one. Yeah, it's a tough one for me.
I tend to fumble over it quite abit.
Your choice. What do you got?
I'm going to go drums. Yep.
Best drums shout out Dagan and I'm going to go System of a Down
Toxicity yo. What are you on the wall?
How are you on this order? Disorder.
(55:40):
Now somewhere between the sacredsilent.
Sacred silent in the sacred. Disorder, Disorder.
Disorder. Oh yeah, we.
Have not had system of a down are.
(56:01):
You not sure? I looked it up dude.
I thought I we've had them checkit.
We have not and. I thought I picked them early.
This is what this is. What's this is.
The problem is, we talk about music so much.
I feel like we've talked about bands a lot that weren't
actually on the mix tape, which is cool, but if they're not on
there, man, wow. That's mind blowing.
And you know, when I went to when I went, so they popped in
(56:24):
my head. So I went to their Spotify to
pick which song, which had to beToxicity because the drums are
just mind blowing. But.
The amount of, is that what you're going to talk about?
The amount of streams. The amount of streams like a
metal band with two songs that are over a billion.
Unreal. The amount of streams.
Like it makes me so happy that they have two songs with over a
billion streams. They have Chop Suey's
(56:44):
approaching 2 billion streams. Absolutely insane.
It's mind blowing. It's Can you imagine when when
this album came out, when Toxicity came out and you're
watching these weird ass music videos on MTV?
What year? Did toxicity come out?
Toxic. It came out in 2001.
OK. You're watching these weird ass
videos, these weird ass dudes making this really cool but
weird metal. Would you have ever thought
(57:05):
they'd be in the echelon of likepop musicians and plays?
I mean, I know streaming wasn't a thing back then, but like,
however you would have phrased it like playing like public
plays or whatever, up with like pop musicians, like rappers and
stuff. It's insane.
But yeah, I do toxicity that thedrums are just wild, man.
Like the punk part and then the crazy Phil and then like they
(57:26):
just they changed hippo 50 times.
So fucking good. I just, there's not much else to
say about it and I don't know. And you know, this would have
been better for, again, if Daganwas on here to talk about it
because he knows the shit and I don't.
So like, I don't even know who who their drummer is.
His name is on Tronic. No John Dole.
(57:47):
Wait, they have two different drummers or have had two
different drummers? I don't know man, whoever played
drums on this song, you've crushed that shit.
Crushed it. Yeah.
It's so good. Who were you going to pick for
drums? Dude, you want to talk about
another Bananas artists we haven't had on the podcast?
Of course, still have it now. Never mind.
(58:09):
I lied. They have been on it.
I lied. I take it back.
Trio has been on the podcast. Yeah, but I was going to do.
We've had enough. Oh yeah, yeah.
Great song. Really cool and drum part where
(58:32):
he goes back and forth between like a couple different crazy
tempos. Very very cool drum part.
That was OG drummer was still playing on that record.
Yeah, it was. Yeah, it was.
I can't remember who the old guywas.
Glenn Porter. Speaking of drums.
No, it made that up too. Mike Flemmi.
(58:54):
That's him. Mike Flemmi.
I think that's his name he played on from here to it was
jumped on from here to Infirmary.
This is a shit show. Do they just cycle through
fucking drummers? What the hell?
Because they had one guy for a long time.
Yeah. Oh, it was Derek.
That's fucking right. God damn it.
What an idiot. Yeah, the main drummer was Derek
Grant. God, what a Dumber what?
(59:15):
A what? A Dumber what?
A what? A Dumber What?
A Dumber like Dumber better. He was the main drummer for a
long time. Yes, Derek Grant was the drummer
for a very long time. 2000 and 1:00-ish until 20/21.
Speaking of drummers, you know how Foo Fighters kicked out John
Freese and the the assumption was this because they were going
(59:38):
to make Taylor Hawkins kid theirdrummer?
They didn't really. They've just swapped drummers
with 9 Inch Nails. So they're taking 9 Inch Nails
drummer Elon Rubin and John Freese is going to go back to
drumming for 9 Inch Nails, whichhe used to do.
So they're those two bands are just swapping drummers
essentially. Weird.
I know it's very weird. Then the whole thing, the whole
(59:58):
way the thing went down is strange too.
Like, I don't know, it's it's feels like a sports trade.
It feels like Trent and Dave gottogether and we're like, hey.
Feels controversial. Trade, trade, you Elin for John.
Yeah, All right. With that said then Speaking of
artists, kids coming back to take over for the artists.
My reggae song is going to be sublime Garden growth.
(01:00:25):
How these things I do? And if you want to, we've had
(01:00:48):
Sublime. This is the third time they've
been on the pod. I have picked them all three
times. But if you want to talk about a
really good time, go watch the hour long Sublime set from the
Warp tour resurgence and watch Bradley Knowles kids sing for
the whole set. Like bring out a couple members
of his own band to play with Sublime.
(01:01:11):
It is fucking awesome. It's really, really good to go
watch and I hope they like, you know, that that whole thing went
down really fucking good, man. And I'm stoked for everybody and
I hope everybody's cool, right? It seems like everybody's cool.
It seems like they're cool with it.
Sublime, Bradley Knowles dies. Sublime goes on and does like
(01:01:33):
Long Beach Double All Stars. They do a little bit of shit,
then they pick up Rome, which I like.
Rome. Sublime With Rome was fucking
good. Those couple of albums that they
did Sublime With Rome were very good.
Sublime With Rome, Rome's a great singer, great for that
genre. Sublime With Rome ends and they
go back to being Sublime. They bring Brad in those kit
(01:01:55):
Bradley Knowles kid in to be thesinger of Sublime and now Rome
is doing solo stuff and it's still stoked like he just heard.
I just saw an Instagram post of him hearing his solo project
shit on the radio for the first time and he was fucking stoked.
And I'm like, I hope he's still cool with Sublime.
(01:02:16):
I hope everything ended amicably.
I hope everybody's great becauseit's really cool for all the
experiences. Yeah, I, I hope so too.
Like, yeah, I, I see what you'resaying.
I hope the internal stuff is cool with them.
I do think it's everything's cool with the fans for sure, but
I I think it needed to take thislong for that to happen, if that
makes sense, because like if it had happened too soon, I think
(01:02:39):
you would have gotten a lot of shit from fans about or maybe
you wouldn't have. I don't know.
But it just felt like so much time went up, went by and then
like I think when the realization of how good of a
singer and performer he is as well and it's his son, like the
whole thing just it's great. It's.
And what's cool, it's like Sublime With Rome was very much
(01:03:00):
so sublime adjacent, but it wasn't really sublime as much.
It brought a way more like Beachy vibe, like white boy
reggae vibe when Rome joined theband, right, still sounded
great, still really great music, but like you can tell like it's
kind of back to being and I can't like they've released a
track or two with Bradley nose kid, but I'm I'm looking forward
(01:03:22):
to the album. Those dudes are old dudes still
doing it and I hope it's still awesome.
Yeah. So I, I didn't pick, I'll give
you my what my pick would have been for this, but I considered
picking a Long Beach dub All Star song because I was really
into the record right back in 99.
Like when I was in high school, I got really into that record
(01:03:43):
and that's like 2 of the guys that found it.
Is that the one Long Beach dub all big like tattoo flash cover?
Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep. So Eric Wilson and and Bud
formed this band. They were both in Sublime.
So like when when Brad passed away, like they formed Long
Beach Dub All Stars and it just became like, I think this band
now is just kind of like one of those like collectives, kind of
(01:04:03):
like rotating musicians a lot. Great band.
But I actually would have followed the Sun route because I
was going to pick a Damian Marley song.
So. I would have.
I was going to just do Welcome to Jam Rock.
(01:04:25):
Easy way into reggae for people who aren't into reggae.
Welcome to Shamrock dude. We put that on a pot.
No, dude, Damian Marley I don't think has been on one either.
What the fuck man, it's all blending together now.
Damian. Yep.
We haven't had Damian Marley either, and we still haven't.
But maybe someday we'll have himon.
(01:04:45):
OK, your turn, only four to go all.
Right. So I'm going to go with the
horns, non ska horns. And if you remember, I was very
pissed at myself to not have realized that there were such
great horn samples and horn parts and hip hop songs when you
guys talked about your hip hop song.
So I've got a hip hop song and I'm going to go, no, I'm going
(01:05:07):
to go Pete Rock and CL Smooth. I reminisce over you.
I reminisce for a spell Michelle, I say think back 22
years ago to keep it on track. The birth of a child from the
(01:05:28):
8th of October. But my toes what my granddaddy
came so, but all the fingers in the toes.
Now watch, Suppose you the little black boy grows.
Do do, do do do do do. Do you know that?
You know it. You know, it's just got that
great saxophone part, man. Yeah, you're totally right.
Or sorry, it's they reminisce over you or Troy an
(01:05:51):
abbreviation. Dude, I don't know what do you
got to? It's just a great horn hook.
It's a. Good song.
Do you know the source? What's up?
Do you know the source? Did you look it up?
Is it sampled from somewhere or was it written for this track?
It's definitely sampled and I didn't, but let's find it real
quick. We.
Have your shit together. We have your poop in a group.
I just liked this song like. Great song, great song, great
(01:06:12):
choice. How do you spell reminisce?
Oh, you should see how poorly it's spelled on my post it note.
SO, so terribly spelled. Renmin, there it is.
Great time to you because I would have been way off.
Whoa, there's some cool samples on this song, though.
I'm sure it's like a like a 60 psychedelic rock band thing on
(01:06:35):
here. So it's looks like the horns are
from a song called today. I need you to I need you to put
this in your Spotify. Actually look at this album
cover. The song It's today The band is
Honeysuckle. No, the California Dreamers is
the band. No, the Honeysuckle Breeze is
(01:06:57):
the band. I don't know, man.
The album is the California Dreamers.
Honeysuckle. Breeze.
The honeysuckle breeze. Are you talking about the album
cover of the guy just laying in the grass playing saxophone?
Yeah, with all the the trippy flowers and stuff all around
him. Yeah, he's got a nice pair of
Teevas on. So the first the first like
minute of the song, it has a flute in it First off.
(01:07:19):
OK, which is not a horn. It just sounds like it's it.
It's the soundtrack to a bunch of people in a field with white
dresses and dudes with sandals just holding hands and skipping
in circle. That's the soundtrack.
And then all of a sudden there'sa saxophone solo out of nowhere
that just shows up out of nowhere.
Guy's name is Tom Scott. He props to Pete Rock and CL
(01:07:44):
Smooth, whoever or whoever fucking found this fucking
sample, man, good for you. Because you got through that
first minute of the song and you're approaching this from a
hip hop perspective. I don't know what you're
listening for at that point, I guess.
I guess you saw the album cover and you're like, there's got to
be a saxophone in here somewherefor sure.
I'm waiting on it. Tom Scott is the guy that wrote
(01:08:04):
it's Tom Scott and the California Dreamers that wrote
the honeysuckle breeze and second most listened to the city
for Tom Scott of Chicago, IL, Chicago, USA.
Damn. All right.
TomTom, Scott. He also played saxophone with
Joni Mitchell, Carole King and George Harrison.
Good for him. Yeah.
What? What were you going to have for
horns? Billy Joel, New York State of
(01:08:27):
mind. I'm in a New York State of mind.
Another great sack solo. Billy Joel has been on the pod
before, but I really wanted thatone.
I might. I got lawn mowing to do here in
a minute in the middle of this air quality alert air quality
(01:08:50):
issue and I might listen to Billy Joel.
I cut the lawn. You should.
He's got a new documentary on HBO about.
I know I have a watch and have you.
No, but the the big thing that'scome out of it is like his
manager stole a bunch of money from him like the 80s, like when
he was going through all that bankruptcy stuff back in the
days because his manager like fucked up his finances and took
a bunch of money from him and stuff.
So. Kind of a Dick move.
I guess he talks about it. He kind of talks about it for
(01:09:11):
the first time in that doc. So all right, next pick.
I am going songs recorded off the radio Part 2 and the song I
am going with is Hey Jealousy bythe Gin Blossoms.
(01:09:36):
Jealousy. Nice, nice nice nice Gin
Blossoms. Never.
I not picked the Gin Blossoms. Never on the pod.
Holy shit I love the Gin Blossoms.
Have we talked about that before?
I think we. Both love the Gin Blossoms.
We haven't talked about how you love them, but it makes sense
(01:09:57):
that you do. Also not of the just Gin
Blossoms. Gin Blossoms.
Yep. And I think that we talked about
this song pretty early on quite a bit because of Rob Harvilla
talking about the Gin Blossoms from the new miserable
experience. Same.
I love a song that's the same verse twice.
Yeah. Yeah, that's all it is.
Same verse twice, which is great.
And this album originally came out and it's been reissued in
(01:10:21):
2002, but I can't remember when it originally came out.
Do you know? It would have been like 95,
yeah. 969695, No, yeah, I'm not sure.
Mid 90s. Yeah, but this one would have
been 1992, so an early. Oh, wow.
Early. OK.
Alt rock track, so, but like probably crossover alt rock pop,
(01:10:43):
you know, So that's probably where I got this from and
definitely recorded off the radio.
Oh, for sure. Yeah.
For sure they had a couple banger like they had a few
bangers for sure. This album New New Miserable
experience is 2/3 singles. Yeah, it's fantastic.
Yeah, Allison Rd. is on this. And and until I fall away.
(01:11:05):
Yeah, hold me down. Yeah, it's 2/3 singles.
Good shit man. Yeah, this was this would have
been around the same time. Where?
Fuck. What was Alanis Morissette's
album called? I actually had hey jealousy on
my road trip long list too. I didn't talk about as an
audible mention, I just rememberhaving that as a.
OK, Jagged Little Pill came out in 1995.
(01:11:27):
Do we know what album has the most singles off of it?
Is it 16 Stone? Is it Bush?
Oh, my money would be on that Third Eye Blind record, the
self-titled all. Right, let's let's put it out
there. I'm going to say 16 stone has
more singles than Third Eye Blind.
You're doing the work right now.Well I was going to see if what
Google said, but Google's just going off of charting singles.
Not actually like singles released, but it says Hysteria
(01:11:50):
by Def Leppard had six singles chart.
Oh shit no dude. Thriller, Michael Jackson
Thriller. Seven of the 9 songs were
charting singles on that. Record.
Seven of nine. Which album has the most
released singles of all time? List of best selling albums?
Nope. 15 albums that Here we go.15 albums that generated the
most singles. OK Adrenaline by Def Leppard
(01:12:10):
#1514 Def Leppard, pyromania. 13Def Leppard hysteria.
Jesus Christ. 12 Teenage Dream by Katy Perry 7 singles #11.
Controlled by Janet Jackson 7 singles #10.
Born in the USA by Bruce Bruce Springsteen 7 singles #9.
Thriller Michael Jackson 9 Sing 7 singles #8 The Woman in me
(01:12:35):
Shania Twain 8 singles #7 Hello,I must be going Phil Collins 8
singles Number six. Let me talk about Let's talk
about love. Céline Dion 8 singles.
Rhythm Nation Janet Jackson 8 singles Janet Janet Jackson 8
singles Dangerous Michael Jackson 9 singles Bad 9 singles
(01:12:57):
#1 Come on over. Shania Twain.
It had 12 songs. This one tops all We Think 12
songs released as singles. All 12 songs were singles.
Holy shit dude, yeah, that's insane.
It looks like all. Right, let's you and I do a do a
(01:13:17):
competitive thing. I'm going to pull up 16 stone.
So it's hard to tell why. So I was I was doing that as you
were looking. It's hard to tell because I
think it might be tied. But the problem is one of the
Bush songs off 16 Stone, that was a single I think was
actually a technically not off 16 Stone.
It was off the remix album of 16Stone.
Well here if I'm just looking at16 stone, everything Zen was a
(01:13:39):
single, Little things was a single, come down was a single,
Machine head was a single, glycerin was a single.
Yeah, so 5, that's what I counted to as 5.
That. One and then I think Body was a
single, but I think it was off the remix album.
It was the remix of Body, so Third Eye Blind, Semi Charmed
Life was a single. Jumper was a single.
(01:14:00):
How's it going to Be was a single.
Graduate was a single losing a whole year?
I don't remember if it was a single or not.
Motorcycle Drive By was Motorcycle Drive By was a single
too. There was music video for it and
stuff, so 5 or 6 there. It's it's losing a whole year if
it was a single or not. Let's see.
Let's see what Wikipedia says here.
Yep, it was released as a single, so 6 off that record
(01:14:25):
pretty good. Crazy.
What was your radio song? My radio song was going to be,
it was actually going to be 1 ofShane's honourable mentions
because it was such a good pick and I, I had forgotten about
this band, this song completely. But Kay's choice.
Not an addict, it's not a habit. It's cool, I feel.
Alive if you don't have it here on the other side, I'm not an
(01:14:53):
addict. Oh yeah, So it's now a second.
It's now a honorable mention a second time.
But I'll play a clip of it here so people can remember what song
this is, because I feel like a lot of people are going to be
like me and be like, Oh yeah, that song.
I do remember this song, yeah. Great song.
Yeah, great call over to you, second to last track.
All right, well, I like I said, the only one I didn't want was
one hit wonder. So I'm going to leave that on
(01:15:14):
the table. I'm going to go with
controversial songs. We kind of avoided just going
down the middle, like controversial bands and stuff.
But I'm going to do it now. So I'm going to pick a Rage
Against the Machine song becausewe've not had one on the
podcast. Insane.
And I'm going killing in the name some.
Of those that work forces are the same that broad crosses.
(01:15:36):
Some of those that work forces draw the same that broad
crosses. Because I feel like it was
probably their first song that really caused a huge stir
recall. I mean, they're just a con.
They, they, they thrived on controversy.
That was always going to be partof who they were.
(01:15:57):
Sure. So it's almost hard to pick a
song because it's less about a song being controversial and
more that they were like highly political band who wanted to
create controversy. Do you remember, and I don't
remember which song it was, the music video where they set up a
performance like right in front of the Stock Exchange, like
guerrilla style and filmed it, got arrested and shit.
Was Gorilla Radio. Was a great that would make
(01:16:18):
sense that I think it was radio.I took a political science class
in Community College where the professor for the Community
College political science class loved Rage Against the Machine
and that was what we spent most of our time talking about.
Was rage. Was rage.
That was the majority of our class content was about Rage
Against the Machine. I don't know if it was
intentional or unintentional, but she crushed it.
(01:16:39):
But yeah, that's cool. Yeah, it was.
Really. So it was actually, it was sleep
now in the fire was the song that they did.
Oh yeah, I could call. That on Wall Street so well I
had to look it up. Cool music video man.
Very cool, cool music like and all the footage of them getting
arrested and shit in the video like I don't know man, just bad
ass band, necessary band. Important that they existed.
(01:17:00):
Happy I got to see them out. Lollapalooza.
Actually, when they first their very first reunion show after
they broke up, the very first time they got back together and
played was that Lollapalooza? I got to see that.
Super awesome. That is awesome.
Yeah, well, I. I so I think that the
controversy for this one was just because it was so violent
so early. And what's crazy is that it's
(01:17:22):
kind of a fun song. It was I used to love her by
Guns and Roses. I used to love her, but I had to
kill her. And I've picked Guns and Roses
before this was Awful Lies, which was the album that came
(01:17:43):
out before Appetite so it would have been like 1986.
And it was just that. I used to love her, but then I
had to kill her and it's just about Axel killing his
ex-girlfriend because she was a pain in the ass.
Yeah. But it was you didn't talk about
that in 1986. So I think that that's where the
controversy came from. But it's listed as like one of
the most controversial songs of like a lot of lists, which is
(01:18:07):
crazy because there are way worse songs on lies that should
be far more controversial than this.
But this one is what came up as the most controversial of the
gun songs. And as I was looking for this
one, I was like, what's the controversial song I want to go
(01:18:27):
with? And like, you know, you, this
one was dicey because I didn't want to go with anything too
shitty, you know? But one in a million, So much
more controversial than this. The most much more
controversial. Well, the whole, the whole like
singing a song about killing your girlfriend or whatever.
I mean, that wasn't just controversial in 86.
(01:18:48):
Like, I mean, you had the Eminem's, you had the Slim Shady
stuff. Well, I know, but that was way
later like I I was. Saying it was that such stayed
controversial. So like that was really I, I
guess what I'm saying is I I'm giving them even more
controversy credit for that songbecause it was even earlier.
Like that's very like shocking when I if you just Google most
(01:19:11):
controversial songs, that song comes up from guns.
Yeah, like you said. So that's on that.
List. And what's bananas is that one
in a million. So much more controversial.
The most much more controversial, Don't Google the
lyrics. I'm not going to.
Good call, Do not Google the lyrics.
All right, so what's left? 2000s One hit wonders. 2000s
that's it. What do you got?
(01:19:32):
Don't know why this band didn't blow up bigger.
They had everything at their disposal to be bigger than they
were and Metro Station never gotbigger.
Nope. And Shake It is a great fucking
song. And it was a great single at the
(01:20:04):
time, but I don't know why that band never exploded.
What? What are your thoughts?
Only thought that comes to mind is that people didn't know bands
weren't making the transition. Bands were just starting to make
the transition from underground genres into pop.
Like this was the very early stages of some kind of small
(01:20:26):
scene based thing becoming big. So maybe they just didn't have
the infrastructure to promote them at a pop level or
something, right? Because it was like them, Cobra
Starship, like you had these like underground bands that are
coming out of the pop punk emo world, but they're basically
making pop music. Maybe it was just like a
infrastructure thing, like the labels that they were on and
stuff didn't know how to make, you know, create a huge.
(01:20:46):
Huge, but they had, I mean, it'sMiley's brother, dude, and
Hannah Montana's massive at the time.
It's fucking Billy Ray Cyrus's kid.
It's an edgier pop. Billy Ray Cyrus.
How did we not ex how did this band not blow up?
They had all the money, all the like, everything they needed and
that album is. Great.
(01:21:07):
And just didn't explode and I don't know why.
But either way, Shake it by Metro station one hit wonder.
It's a great album. Great pop, emo punk adjacent.
Should have been massive. Should have been huge.
Yeah, should have been. I mean, what?
How many plays does it have? I didn't.
Even check probably a lot. Don't Google the lyrics.
The one in a Million by Guns andRoses don't. 322 million.
(01:21:31):
Yeah, what a honk, Trey Cyrus, what a honk.
We got Chicago, Chicago's the top Listen to US city, believe
it or not, Australia, Australia,Australia, US and then London.
Yeah, still a million monthly listeners 1.7 but.
Almost 2,000,000, yeah. Yeah, just crazy.
(01:21:52):
Well, I was going to go like this with the all this corny
rock stuff that was happening inthe 2000s that was huge and the
songs all honestly, the song's just OK even but it was a huge
hit and it will get stuck in your head.
But I was going to go with 9 days.
Absolutely parentheses. Story of a girl this.
Is the story of a girl. Oh hell yeah, great one hit
(01:22:22):
wonder. Yeah, great song too.
Huge hit. Could have been.
Third Eye Blind could have been it could have been a lot of
bands. I think that's probably why it
was a one hit wonder because it was like, who are you 9 days?
Are you just all these other bands that already exist
basically? But yeah, like you look at their
Spotify, this song has 172 million plays.
Their number two song is just a different mix of the same song
(01:22:42):
and their next real song only has 5 million plays.
So you go from basically. Probably the song that came
after that one on the album. Probably.
So you have basically 186 million plays, followed by 5
million, followed by less than 1/2 a million.
So like a really steep nose dive.
Big chance. Yeah.
So there we go. Yeah, that's the unlucky ones.
Part four, man. 4th 1 All right buddy, let me read.
(01:23:05):
Well, you want to you want to shoot out?
Yeah, shoot out a list. Elliot Smith, Needle in the hay,
Corn blind Moss icon. I'm back sleeping or fucking or
something. American football never meant
The xx intro Doobie Brothers Blackwater just Doobie Brothers,
not The Doobie Brothers System of a down toxicity sublime,
Garden Grove, Pete Rock and CL Smooth.
(01:23:28):
They reminisce over you. Gin Blossoms, Hey Jealousy, Rage
Against the Machine, Killing in the Name, and Metro Station.
Shake It. How to?
Make I actually think I'm gonna go cut the lawn to the metro
station novel. Nice.
You should. And what was I going to?
(01:23:48):
Oh, Billy Joel? Yeah, that's not that's not long
cutting music today. It's Metro.
Station, You're gonna have to sequence this.
Oh shit, I already threw the post it away.
Shit hold on. OK, I got it again.
Our job to sequence and this that's a wrap on Season 4.
How to make a mix 4? Can you believe it?
Look at us. Throw this up.
(01:24:10):
Going into season 5, well and byseasons we're just, it's just
every tape, but whatever. Yeah, that's what somebody was
making fun of me the other day. Like, why are you saying
seasons? You don't even fucking?
It's not like there's breaks in between.
The seasons, then that person obviously isn't a real listener
because it makes perfect sense. Come on, it's a tape.
It's a mixtapes worth of episodes.
They're not, so they're not a real like it perfectly makes
(01:24:30):
sense. And the reason they're called
Seasons is because that's what Spotify makes me call.
I'm going to put it out there, they're kind of a Dick.
I hope they're, I hope they're listening.
They're not listening. Obviously they're not, or else
they would have gotten it, yeah.Everyone is fun.
Everyone is fun. Everyone is fun.
Doing this every time with you is fun.
Oh yeah, all of them are fun. I don't care if they're slightly
lower. Listen to because I think
(01:24:51):
they're necessary. It's kind of it's just the
perfect way to end this season. It's great and going to the next
one so. I got to put on my all.
Right, buddy? Hey, you, you go cut that lawn.
I'm going to. I don't know, I don't know.
You doing something fun today? Do.
Something fun, beautiful, I can do whatever I want.
Today I love that no go for a bike ride we go for.
A bike ride I could go. I could go for a bike ride.
(01:25:14):
I could. Will you go for a bike ride?
Send me a video. You ride a bike.
I have to go on the Instagram. But I won't have to go rent a
bike. I don't own one.
You don't have a bike anymore. No, I should.
I need to buy one. I was just talking to somebody
about that the other day that I need to do bike soon.
All right. All right.
Hey, thanks, buddy. Bye.
