On our next episode of Hoy En Dia TV, our special guest is a catalyst for Sustainable Education, Community Empowerment & Design Excellence. In honor of Women's history month, we are excited to welcome Narkie Nartey, a dynamic leader, strategist, and advocate dedicated to transforming communities through education, innovation, and design. As the Founder and CEO of The Wakaboomee Program 501(c)3, she has built a movement that provides STEAM, Wellness, and Entrepreneurship Education to underserved Pre-K and K-12 students across North Carolina. Under her leadership, Wakaboomee bridges the digital divide, ensuring that every child—regardless of background—has access to the tools needed for success.

Her commitment to community impact extends beyond education. Narkie serves as the Program Manager for the Greater Durham Black Chamber of Commerce (GDBCC), amplifying Black-owned businesses and fostering economic growth through strategic initiatives. She made history as the First Black Female President of the RTP Rotary Club (2022-2023), where she led projects that drive lasting change both locally and globally. Additionally, she plays a key role in shaping public spaces and programs as a Member of the Town of Morrisville Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Advisory Committee and mentors emerging leaders through the GTI/SKEEMA Mentorship Program at North Carolina State University (NCSU). She also serves on the Board of Advisors for EdTech Unite, supporting efforts to bring STEM education to diverse communities.

Beyond her non-profit and community leadership, Narkie is an integral part of the Andre Johnson Architects (AJA) team, a prestigious firm known for its innovative, human-centered, and environmentally responsible designs. Since 2013, AJA has delivered award-winning projects across North Carolina, shaping spaces that elevate human interaction and community engagement. The firm’s work spans both public and private sectors, from intimate 500-square-foot projects to large-scale 300,000-square-foot developments. With a strong emphasis on communication, collaboration, and cultural context, AJA designs spaces that inspire and serve the needs of diverse communities.

Whether she’s advocating for digital equity, championing youth empowerment, or contributing to the design of transformative spaces, Narkie’s mission remains the same—to support all industries and communities by creating real, lasting change. She is a connector, a problem-solver, and a force for progress, making her a sought-after voice in conversations about education, innovation, sustainability, and community development.
