Last week I hit a major milestone: 20 years in emergency medicine! I've now spent almost half my life as an emergency physician and haven't just learned a lot of medicine, but also about humanity as a whole and myself as an individual. The emergency department, or ED as we like to call it, helped me to find my voice and not be afraid to speak out loud. It has helped me to recognize both the large life and death stories but also the smaller moments in between that can be just as valuable. I talk about the pros and cons of the specialty and what keeps me coming back for more! Let me know what you think!
