Well, we're finally here. After 16 weeks of training, I'm ready to run marathon No. I've-lost-count. I'm feeling excited. Nervous. Ready. Proud. Talking about the manifestation work I'm doing going into Sunday to take on my next big goal, and answering a listener question about gift giving for runners.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Hey, hey, Emily. Here you're listening to five minute Friday.
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. I'm excited. I'm excited
because as you listen to this, if you listen to
it on Fridays, I know many of you love to
listen to it over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
But I am on my way to Chicago. Let's go.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
I totally lost count of what marathon number this is
for me. I really thought it was sixteen, but it
might be fifteen. So if there's a discrepancy in there
somewhere from when I speak about this, please forgive me.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
But I am. I'm in the excited phase, and I
got here earlier this week when someone said to me,
isn't it just as likely that Sunday could go better
than you? And vision?

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I started in this place of there's no way lightning
is going to strike twice. I had such an amazing
experience in Chicago when I ran this marathon in twenty nineteen.
How would it ever happen again? And then after having
this conversation with a girlfriend, I totally stopped myself and
realized that I was not serving my best interest. And

(01:32):
then admittedly I started to get into this whole manifestation
mindset of what it is that I want on Sunday
and who is the woman that gets that thing. The
thing about manifestation is it's not just like you can
think this thing into existence and then it happens.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
You have to take a line to action.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
And so when I think about the woman that gets
what she wants on Sunday, which is to admittedly run
a certain time and also feel a certain way, I
to the path and get out of my own way
so that those things can happen. So what does this
look like in practice? It means talking to myself with kindness.
It means surrounding myself with people that make me feel

(02:10):
good as I am and lift me up. I could
not be more looking forward to spending time with people
that love me in my heart. I have so many
dear friends that are going to be in Chicago, and
it makes me so happy. It makes me always happy
to spend time with them. But to have these humans
in my sphere when I'm about to do something that

(02:32):
matters so much to me is just so It's such
a beautiful thing.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
And so when we're.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Talking about aligned to action, I am doing the things
that someone that would garner that level of success that
I am seeking and the feeling that I'm seeking on
Sunday would do. I am positive. I'm not allowing limiting
beliefs to get in my way because I know that
limiting beliefs you can't think your way out of them.

(02:58):
They will be reflected in your reality, even if they're
a part of your subconscious. So I am then taking
into my own control, writing, journaling, talking myself into this
and stepping into the goodness that is This is.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Who I am.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
I am someone that can exceed her own wildest dreams.
I am someone who can stand firm in the work
that she has put in. I am someone who knows
what it is that she is capable of and isn't
afraid of working hard for it.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Am I giving.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Myself my own pep talk? Absolutely, But I hope that
this is something that helps you too. Here I am
talking myself through my I am statements a tool that
I use time and time again to root in what
is fact and let any of that nervous energy or
anxiety that's got to go. And so here I am

(03:59):
I'm rambling. I'm manifesting a great day on Sunday. I'm
stepping into who I know that I am through aligned action,
I'm surrounding myself with people that lift me up.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
And I I'm ready to rock.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
I know that when I talk about manifestation, it really
does feels like something that is out of reach for
so many and I too have felt that way previously.
Like I said, but you don't know until you try.
And so why not me? Why not you? Why not
step into something that is great? Because each of us

(04:36):
deserves that. Yeah, So my question for you this week,
my listener question, what is it that you're after and
what aligned action can you take to become the person
that gets that thing? What is the aligned action that
you can take to step into exactly what it is

(04:56):
that you want and who it is that you want
to become. And now a listener question. Hey, Emily, my
boss is one of my favorite people on the planet.
How lucky am I to say that? And he is
running the NYC Marathon next month. It will be his third,
but his last one was about nine years ago. He's
had a couple injuries this training cycle, and he joke
said he's too old, he's forty nine. Anyway, I wanted

(05:19):
to put together a little good luck you killed it
marathon gift bag. I'm wondering if you had any post
marathon musts. I was thinking socks, bio freeze, maybe even
the fuel he likes for during the marathon. Open to ideas,
Thanks and good luck in Chicago, Maria.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Good question.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Okay, A few things that I am always looking for
after a marathon. One a good foot massage, and I
mean like a place to go to get one. So
if you feel comfortable spending that kind of money, maybe
a thirty or fifty dollars gift card for someone to
go get reflexology that is an amazing post marathon or
honestly for any active person, a great gift. The next

(05:57):
thing I would recommend is maybe like a nice can
and some bath salts. So they make candles now, I
got one as a gift last year that said, like,
you ran the marathon, so google marathon candles and you
might find like a cheeky one that makes a great gift.
And then along with that, epsom salt would be really good,
and of course that comes in so many great scents

(06:19):
and smells and whatnot. Then cozy socks, cozy sweats, even
like all of those things, think about your optimal day
of self care and what that involves. It's a good
gift for anyone at any time, but definitely after a marathon.
The last thing I'll say, if you know that they
have a favorite restaurant, perhaps it's always fun to celebrate

(06:41):
a big accomplishment, so a little gift card might be
the nice cherry on top of their recovery Sunday. I
hope this helps make sure you're following along with Hurdle
over on the socials.
