Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hi friends, hello my hormonal people out there,
welcome to I'm Hormonal.
This is episode number 114.
I'm your host, bridget Walton.
I am actually a little plottwist bringing you a mini
episode today.
Normally Tuesdays are for thelong ones, thursdays are for the
minis, but we are flip floppingit this week because today I'm

(00:24):
really excited to bring to afree class.
If you have not yet registered, you still have the chance to do
so if it is Tuesday, june 24thand before 5 pm Pacific.
We haven't started yet, socheck out the link in the show
notes to register for the class,or if you want to be in the

(00:45):
loop for any future classes thatI have, then that is a really
great place for you to start.
The whole reason why I startedI'm Hormonal, why I started this
podcast back in 2023, wasbecause I think that you all,
like you I'm looking at you, I'mpointing at you you deserve

(01:05):
more information and betterinformation about how your body
works, what your hormones aretrying to tell you, how you can
better support them so you canfeel good and live your life and
like, focus on all of the otherstuff that is bringing you joy
and that has so much more tooffer you than just like what's
the thing I should be eating, orhow do I not feel so much pain

(01:29):
in my cramping, those kinds ofthings.
That's what I want for you.
That's why this podcast existsto share that information with
you, so you can figure outwhat's going on.
And, as an extension of that, that's why I have created this
class that's going on thisafternoon, on Tuesday, june 24th

(01:50):
, at 5pm.
So this is just a little minireminder for you to reserve your
seat at the end of the class.
If you stay all the way throughthe end, if you join live, then
you will have the opportunityto win a free one-on-one
coaching session with me.
I would love for you to get inon that, and it's going to be a
fun time.

(02:12):
This class is going to be allabout the rooted method, which
is the method that I use with myclients that I've developed
over the last year plus, inorder to help them see the
transformations in their period,in their acne, in their
bloating that they do.
So it's going to be about therooted method and a 100-day
blueprint for more energy, easier periods and less bloating

(02:34):
, without googling or withoutguessing, because we're done
winging it.
We're done with these blanketrecommendations, blanket
approaches.
What you need to feel better isa plan that is tailored to you,
personalized to you, and youneed a structure or most gals
out there, I know I sure as helldid need a structure of

(02:57):
accountability, this frameworkthat is going to guide me
through these changes that I'mmaking, or that you're making,
to the way that you eat, the waythat you sleep or your bedtime
routine All of these things thatimpact your hormonal health,
the quality of your period, thequality of your digestion, and

(03:18):
more.
So that's what you can expectfrom the class today.
I want to spend just a couple ofminutes talking to you a little
bit more about myself and myown experience with my digestive
issues, with my hormonal issues, so you can understand where
I'm coming from, how I got here, and it really starts back in
2016.
This was a time in my life.

(03:39):
I was a brand new officer inthe Marine Corps.
I was working out a lot.
I was taking this pre-workoutpowder that absolutely ruined my
stomach.
I can't believe I kept takingit for so long after I was
having like absolutely stabbingstomach pains almost daily.

(03:59):
Man, the things you do whenyou're young, I guess.
But it was that, plus a run ofantibiotics that I had to take
which, like, threw just my gutand my digestion into absolute
chaos and the first presentationof that chaos for me, aside
from, like, the stabbing pain,I'd already had acne basically

(04:23):
my entire adult life, but then Ihad this new experience of
having a super itchy vagina, which not fun.
I mean most gals like maybe youcan relate to that, it's
happened at some point to mostof us.
Most people have a yeastinfection at some point, but for
me it wasn't a yeast infection.

(04:44):
There was nothing that I didthat actually helped it to feel
better and I would bring this upwith my providers and there
wasn't really anything that theycould do to help me because it
wasn't presenting as a yeastinfection or BV or anything else
with a name on it.

(05:04):
So that was really frustrating.
I went to I lived in Japan for acouple of years If you've been
listening for a little bit, maybe you know that, but that's
where I was first stationed inthe Marine Corps.
Once I got there, I had anappointment with, like, my
primary care provider kind ofphysician, and he also happened

(05:26):
to be an OBGYN just nuance ofthe military's medical system, I
suppose.
Anyway, he had recommended tome that I do a surgery called a
labiaplasty, just thinking like, okay, if we kind of make things
more symmetrical here, well, that will reduce the irritation,
it'll reduce the friction.

(05:47):
And I was really enthusiasticabout this because the nurse who
was like in on the appointmenttoo, because the doctor was male
, so they have a female nurse inwith you Anyway, she was like,
honestly, like I've had thissurgery myself and it did fix my
irritation.
So I was like, okay, heck, yeah, this is it.

(06:10):
Like, let's do it, let's dothis thing and you probably know
where I'm going with this.
But we did the thing, did thesurgery, and nothing changed.
Nothing changed at all for me.
And I just was like, okay, well, we really did, we did the damn
thing.
And then I'm still here atsquare one Now, this kind of

(06:32):
compounding after years, alsoyears of stress, of travel, of
living in a really sweaty, hotlocation.
I was certainly not eating thebest diet.
I really ate a lot of sugar, looking back at it, and so this
was kind of compounding what wasgoing on with my digestion and

(06:54):
I started to experience a lot ofbloating and I always had acne.
But even when I stopped usinghormonal birth control, I still
had more and more acne.
It just wasn't going away andit wasn't something that
recurred at a certain time of mycycle, it was just ever present
.
Right, maybe that's the samefor you too.

(07:16):
But all of this to say that, asmy irritation, as my itchy vag,
was getting worse, so was my guthealth, which was resulting in
a lot of bloating, and that wasjust like a big hit to my
confidence, a big hit to the waythat I felt in my own clothes.
I remember a handful of yearsago I was on the way to one of

(07:41):
my friend's birthday parties.
It was the first time, like oneof the first times after COVID,
when I properly got dressed tolike go out for drinks kind of
thing, and I just felt so in myclothes that I didn't go, like I
was on the way and I decidednot to go.

(08:02):
So that's kind of man, notsuper fun.
Let me fast forward and kind ofget to the point, or maybe the
next phase of this, which isthat I had this irritation, I
had this bloating, I had thisacne, and this was also around a
time when I noticed that my PMSwas a lot worse.

(08:23):
When I would cry before myperiod started, I would just,
you know, somethinginsignificant would happen, I
would cry and I'm like I knowthat this isn't a big deal, but
I just literally can't help thefact that I'm crying right now
and a time when I'd go down thestairs in my house and my boobs

(08:44):
would hurt from going down thestairs.
So clearly there was somethings that were off with my
digestion, there were somethings that were off with my
hormones, and it really tookputting together two and two the
fact that my gut health wasintrinsically tied to my hormone

(09:05):
health.
Realizing these two things andrealizing that my symptoms were
all stemming from my hormonehealth.
Realizing these two things andrealizing that my symptoms were
all stemming from my gut health.
Naturally, that inspired me toget a hold of my gut health,
bring things back into balance, which I did through a series of
shifts to my diet, shifts to mystress.
I pulled alcohol out of my diet, pulled all these sugars out of

(09:28):
my diet, incorporated somebotanicals and foods that would
be more supportive of a balancedgut microbiome, and that is
what totally turned the tablesfor me.
I had already been on this pathto becoming a women's hormone
coach by that point, because I'deven, in my quest to understand

(09:51):
my own body, I had started totake practitioner level training
in order to see, like, okay, what do I do for myself?
So I'd already done my coachingprogram, I was already working
through my functional hormonespecialist training, but this is
when I was like, okay, we haveto do this.
Like for me, I've spent almosta decade almost a decade of my

(10:17):
life trying to figure out how Ican feel better.
Like this shouldn't be rocketscience.
How do we know so much about Idon't know?
What do we know about Mars, like the, what the surface of
Mars is made of?
But yet none of my physiciansknew why my vagina was itchy and

(10:39):
why it's so much acne.
And so that's all.
To say that it really solidifiedfor me Like I need to share the
things that I know abouthormone health.
I need to share the things thatI know about hormone health.
I need to share the things thatcan help other women have
easier periods and have betterdigestion and just feel

(10:59):
confident in their bodies andlike themselves again and
support their health for thelong run.
So I guess I'm really sharingthat all so that you have a
better idea of where I'm comingfrom.
It's important to me, too, thatI share with you, like why I'm
so passionate about what I'mdoing and why I'm a women's
hormone coach, and why I thinkthis is important and why I'm

(11:21):
here talking about it every weekwith you guys.
But also, you know, if any partof what I shared with you
resonated, if any of thatsounded like you, then I would
love for this next step, ormaybe even this first step for
you in your hormone balancingjourney, to be to join me for

(11:41):
this free class that I havetoday, which is June 24th, so I
will leave you with that.
