Hello lovelies! Thanks for listening (and reading)!

How is your mental health?

Recently (about a month ago) mine wasn't too good.

I had the worst thoughts going through my mind.

What is mental health exactly?

I found this awesome description after this episode was released >> this is from www.mentalhealth.org

"Think of mental health as the soundtrack of someone’s life. Comprising the person’s psychological, emotional, and social well-being, the music can be upbeat at times, and at other times, it’s somber. However, the background melody continually shapes how the person experiences the world, handles stress, builds connections, and finds meaning. Regardless of whether the music hits a high note or skips a beat, someone with good mental health still maintains a sense of harmony."

There were a couple of reasons that contributed to my negative rabbit hole spiral (as I call it).

One was that I didn't get enough rest. The second reason was that I wasn't doing anything that lit me up aka (I wasn't in my zones of genius).

After I heard a podcast episode, I noticed that I wasn't in love with the direction I was going in, business wise. It didn't light me up. Which brings me to what does. Podcasting (as a whole) is my happy place. I love everything from getting my ideas for what I'm gonna podcast about to reaching out to guests to ask them to interview with me to recording the episodes (both solo and interviews) to writing the show notes.

Why do I love all of it? Because it's in my 'Zone of Genius' wheelhouse.

What is a Zone of Genius?

My description is this: It's things that you're good at that also light you up and that you absolutely love to do. It's also things that are extremely easy or 'second nature' to you but not everyone else. Some hints so you can think of what your zones of genius are (if you don't already know). ;-)

Because there's a lot of things that I'm good at that I don't 'love' or 'like' doing. Things that friends and family make remarks about "you're so good at this!" or "you're so good at that!"...only problem? I don't love doing them. So, they're not my zone of genius.

What are my zones of genius?

I've discovered that the following are my zones of genius (in no particular order).

  1. Connecting with others
  2. Encouraging others
  3. Sharing information with others

Podcasting encompasses all 3! :)
