Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, I'm Kendra Korman .
If you're a coach, consultantor marketer, you know marketing
is far from a perfect science, and that's why this show is
called Imperfect Marketing.
Join me and my guests as weexplore how to grow your
business, with marketing tipsand, of course, lessons learned
along the way.
Hello, and welcome back toanother episode of Imperfect

(00:27):
Marketing.
I'm your host, kendra Korman, and I'm really excited to be
covering this topic of somefrequently asked questions
related to AI that I get.
So there's three main questionsthat I'm going to be covering
today, and if you have any morequestions, always feel free to
reach out at support atKendraCormancom, or you can find

(00:49):
me on LinkedIn, at KendraCorman, or YouTube at Kendra
Corman, so I hope to see youthere.
So the first question that Iget asked a lot and I've been
answering a lot of thesequestions on Facebook and
LinkedIn and pretty mucheverywhere right Is I had AI do
X for me, whatever that contentcreation is, and it feels like

(01:14):
AI wrote it.
So the first question I say iswell, what direction did you
give AI?
And usually it's something likeyou know, please help me write
X.
Here's a couple of things toreference, and they upload a
couple of attachments and thenthey just go ahead and post.
Ai needs a lot more direction.

(01:35):
It was trained on the entireinternet, right, books and
basically everything that'sexisted until today, and I think
that that's pretty amazing thatit does as well as it does, but
really, when we're talkingabout this bland content, it's
from not enough direction.
So there's a couple ofdifferent things that I talk to
people about when they say thatthey have this.

(01:57):
First is give it more direction.
Right, so you want to give itmore information and more
direction.
You want to tell it you're amarketing strategist with 20
plus years of experience, or youare a home health care nurse
that has recently retired after30 years and you are working

(02:18):
with whoever your audience isright, and then you go into I
need help creating whatever itis that you're creating.
Here are some reference piecesand then you want to give them
your voice.
So each voice is very unique.
You could do something likeright in the voice of Barbie, or
Tony Stark is one that I'veused before and you can have

(02:41):
some fun with it.
You could say something likeprofessional yet engaging, or
professional yet friendly, orwrite like you're talking with a
friend over a cup of coffee, etc.
I prefer to train the AI onsamples that I've actually
written for whatever that is.
So if it's a white paperfreebie, or if it's an email

(03:04):
newsletter or a LinkedIn post, Iactually train it on samples
that I actually wrote.
So, things that I wrote I'llput into the AI system and get a
voice back.
One thing to note I'll have theprompt in the show notes for
you if you want to try this, butI have six prompts for my
business, six AI voices, sorry, and one of the voices is for my

(03:29):
LinkedIn profile.
One is my personal LinkedIn, Ishould say.
One is for imperfect marketingsocial posts.
One's for imperfect marketingshow notes.
One is for imperfect marketingYouTube descriptions and titles.
I can keep going, right.
So, yeah, ones for email.
You can have different voicesfor all the different things

(03:51):
that you do, because it's alwaysa little bit different.
Right, your voice on Facebookis a little bit different, maybe
, than Instagram.
Your voice on Instagram mightbe a little bit different than
LinkedIn.
Or you might have the samevoice for Facebook and LinkedIn,
or Facebook and Instagram, butdifferent for LinkedIn.
Really depends on how you wantto address each of these
audiences.
Really depends on how you wantto address each of these

(04:15):
audiences.
So again, if you're gettingstuff that feels bland and not
you, it's probably becauseyou're not giving it enough
information.
So go ahead, use that voiceprompt and find out if you can
get better results that way.
And again, examples AI lovesexamples, so I'll sometimes do.
Here is one that I've writtenbefore Don't use the content

(04:35):
from this, but do use the toneor the structure or something
along those lines.
It's really, really helpful whenyou give it enough direction
like that and you get a muchbetter first draft of whatever
it is that you're creating.
All right, so that's questionone.
Question two that I gotrecently was they were working

(04:57):
with ChatGPT and they'd beenwaiting about two weeks for
their prompt to finish.
I was like something's notright there.
So I thought that was veryinteresting from a technology
perspective.
If you're not getting yourprompt back within a couple of
minutes, something is wrong.

(05:18):
I think her chat froze on thesystem and that she needed to
start a new chat.
Sometimes it doesn't freeze andit just says yeah, I'll get
right on that.
It doesn't do anything.
I don't know why.
It's not free versus paid oranything like that.
Just sometimes it gets in amood and doesn't finish it.

(05:39):
So if you ever experienced that, you want to start your chat
over.
One of the things, though, thatI think caused the issue was too
much in the request.
So you never want to ask the AIsystem to write an entire blog
post or to write 10 social postsat once.
You're going to get one linefor each.

(05:59):
You're going to get a 300 wordblog instead of a 700 word blog.
That's not going to cover thewhole outline.
Ai does much better in pieces, request by request by request,
and then you can edit it to makeit flow, or you can put it all
together and have it, edit itand review it, because it's much
smaller chunk.

(06:20):
So always start with theoutline of whatever it is that
you want to cover having someexamples and things like that
and then, when you're prompting, make sure you're asking for
those key pieces to be includedpiece by piece.
By piece Takes a little bitlonger, but it is so much better

(06:40):
when it comes to results andyou won't be waiting two weeks
for ChatGPT to not respond.
So just something thing to keepin mind there.
Okay, the final question that Iget all the time is on
presentations and people areloving what I'm sharing about
presentations in all of myspeaking gigs and everything

(07:00):
like that, because I think allof us spend a little bit too
much time on presentations.
We're always trying to make itlook pretty, whether you're
using PowerPoint or Canva.
It takes time to typeeverything in slide by slide by
slide.
Yeah, you can go ahead and useCopilot, which is a great tool

(07:23):
inside PowerPoint.
That's Microsoft overlaid onchat, gpt, and it can do some of
it.
It's just not as good.
What I prefer to do is use asystem called Gammaapp.
I've used a system calledBeautifulai, which is very nice
too, but with Gammaapp I'm ableto create a presentation

(07:43):
leveraging AI a couple ofdifferent ways.
I can actually do prettylooking worksheets and social
graphics and everything elsethat goes along with it too.
But what I can do with Gammaappand there's a free version of
it, so feel free to check it allout out is I can create my
outline.
I know what I want on thoseslides.
I know what I want my audienceto take away.

(08:03):
I know my material inside andout.
I'm not really creating stuffand making it up from scratch,
right.
I'm creating content for real.
That's mine.
It's AI assisted, not AIgenerated, and I'm always
talking about AI that way, because AI, again, is only a

(08:24):
bland copycat of you, if you letit be that way.
Okay.
So when I'm creating this AIassisted content, I create the
outline, I put the outline intochat, gpt or cloudai and I ask
it to put it into Markdownformat.
Markdown is a way that forcomputers to understand headings

(08:46):
and subheadings and things likethat, they have hashtags around
headings so that it understandswhat's indented, what's not and
what that hierarchy is.
It's actually a pretty cool wayof using it in your prompts too
.
Just a little pro tip.
But when you're working with AIand creating that presentation

(09:08):
again, start with your own ideas, start with your outline as to
what you want on those slides, have the AI system put it into
Markdown format for you and thenyou can copy and paste it into
Gammaapp and it will go aheadand create each individual slide
for you and you can export itto PowerPoint.
It's so cool.

(09:28):
You can change the images.
It'll generate AI images foryou.
It generates the layouts.
If you don't like the layout, you can change it.
You can create custom themes.
You can use the themes thatthey already have built in and
they've got hundreds of themes.
It feels like I've created minewith my own brand colors and my
logo, so that that's allincluded on the slides wherever

(09:49):
possible.
Some of the images it createsare great.
Some of them need a little bitof work.
I usually leave the images inbecause I use it as a talking
point inside my PowerPointpresentations as to how AI
systems, when they're creatingimages, aren't so good when it
comes to words and letters andthings like that in those images

(10:09):
.
They can get it right some ofthe time, but just not often
enough to make a difference.
But overall, yes, just ajumping in here quickly to share
a couple of questions that I'vebeen getting recently on AI.
So how not to make it like abland copycat?
Check the show notes or thedescription wherever you're
listening or watching, and giveit your voice.

(10:31):
Train it on that.
Number two, if it's waiting fortwo weeks, it's probably
stopped working.
If you don't have a responsewith a couple minutes from any
AI system, there's probably aproblem.
So make sure that you'rebreaking the tasks down little
by little by little, and you'llget much better results.
And then, finally, when you'rebuilding a presentation in AI,

(10:53):
my recommended tool is Gammaapp.
Build your own outline withyour own content and have AI
assist you in creating thatPowerPoint or presentation,
rather than you going ahead andcreating it yourself.
So I hope this helps you andkicks you off into using AI
better and more often.

(11:14):
As always, it would really helpme out if you would rate and
subscribe wherever you'relistening or watching.
Thanks so much and have a greatday.
