The journey to fearlessness can begin not with a mighty roar, but with a whispered prayer. There, on the precipice of our deepest fears, we can find comfort in the divine guidance, even when the answers are not immediate. In our latest podcast, we bare our souls and share our personal stories about facing fear head-on and the solace found in God's providence. We discuss the tools we use to fight fear daily, inspiring our listeners to place their trust in God and embrace fearlessness in their faith.

In Part 1 of this two-part discussion on fear-less, Mary discusses her personal journey of overcoming fear and living fearlessly, providing  valuable insights into the nature of fear, its different forms, and how it can impede our growth. The importance of a robust support system and seeking divine guidance in our journey to fearlessness becomes the cornerstone of our conversation. As we delve deeper into our discussion, remember to live fearlessly, and join our community at periwinklepomegranate.com for additional resources and support. Thank you for joining our conversation, and may you have a blessed day.

Announcer (00:00):
Welcome to In His Hands podcast from Women for
Women.
We're here to help you findpeace in knowing you are in
God's hands.
Our goal is sharing the Word ofGod in simple conversations.
You're here to help you thriveevery day.
And now here are your hosts.

Tiffany Windsor (00:17):
Good morning.
I'm Tiffany Windsor and I'mMary Mary.
Today we want to talk aboutbeing fearless, but may I ask
you to pray us in first.

Mary Koning (00:28):
Yes, in Timothy, god has not given us a spirit of
fear, but of power, love andsound mind.
And, lord, we just ask all ofthose things of you power, love
and a sound mind and it doesn'tcome from us, it comes from you,
and we acknowledge that allgood things come from you.

(00:49):
You're our Father, who providesthose things.
We're thankful that you do.
I confess that I sometimes makeyou small to fit into my vision
of what you aren't doing or howyou're not answering my prayers
, but that's not true.
So I speak against that lie andwe come with supplication for
you to provide all those thingsfor us as wise women of faith,

(01:13):
and we ask all of this in yourprecious son Jesus, his name,
amen, amen, thank you.
I love that this podcast is ona platform called Audacity,
because it's audacious for us tosit here and talk about these
things.

Tiffany Windsor (01:31):
I know.
Yesterday I spent some timebecause we're recording ahead,
so I had to go back to see wherewe were and what's airing and
such, and it was so interestingjust to see the strength of the
topics that we've been talkingabout over these weeks.
I'm very excited abouteverything that we have to say
and that we're willing to share, because what I'm finding is, as

(01:54):
women especially, we may notalways speak up when we should.
That's just an unfolding for meand I wanted to share that.

Mary Koning (02:05):
I think that's on point with what Pastor said
today about what's ourassignment for today.
What's the assignment?
It's interesting that we havethese talks on Sunday after
church and hearing the messageabout praying is a two-way
dialogue, so asking and thenhearing.
I have to ask in part down, butnot so much the hearing.

Tiffany Windsor (02:25):
It's difficult to trust and listening.
What we also have to rememberis we may not get answers right
away and in the moment we may belooking for an answer.
I need to know right away whatI should do.
I think that's a muscle thatyou build up.
The more we pray, the more thatour prayers will be answered.

(02:46):
What I love today that I heardwas pray first.
Pray first.
And again this ties in withfear and fearlessness, because
if we go into prayer first, Ithink that helps to write our
thinking.
Fear can be such a dark spaceand this restrictive space of

(03:08):
not wanting to move and prayermoves you.
So it's not comfortable all thetime, but it's where we should
start Pray first, listen andmove past the fear.

Mary Koning (03:22):
That is so, wise wise woman, and you've also
given me advice when I'veparalyzed with fear is just go
do something.
And the doing of something withmy hands cleaning something,
packing something freeze mybrain.
I'd re listened to our wisewoman talk and I hardly
recognize her and that is soexciting to me.

(03:44):
And I'm trying to go backthrough my journal, my journal,
every day to see what myheadspace was back then and what
happened in the meantime, andthen re listening so that I can
help myself and maybe helpsomebody else.
And what I found was thatcommunity we had dinner with a
sweet friend and she had alsoadvised me that time.

(04:06):
We had dinner with her, butalso a time before, and she made
a motion.
It's her flat hand and a fistof the other hand coming strong.
That hand motion went alongwith.
God has to do this.
It's too big, it's too hard forme, it's too big and too hard
and God will do it.
And he did.
He did.
But not only did he do that, itwas something with finances and

(04:30):
the ex who is problematic, andmoney, and money feels hard
these days just because it's atrust journey and a fear journey
that the Lord's walking methrough.
But he did.
God showed up for me, and so Imade a list back at that time
when I was in fear, of all thethings that I was fearful about

(04:53):
and how God is answering them, and that is exercise and trust,
and that God shows up and hello,he hears and answers prayers.

Tiffany Windsor (05:02):
And I know this but I forget it.
Here's what I loved about whatyou just said is going back and
listening to our Wise Womanpodcast and realizing the growth
that you have gone through.
So I started working on aneasing.
I want to have some sort ofmonthly or bimonthly
communication with everyone andthere's not enough time in our

(05:23):
podcast that when we have nineminutes, 10 minutes, 14 minutes,
that's by our choice of howlong we talk about these topics.
So I started going through andtrying to decide what it is that
I wanted to talk about.
So I've been going back andlistening to our podcasts and as
I was trying to write theintroduction to the first easing

(05:45):
, I went back to remember how westarted and I'm calling him our
driveway chats, For whateverreason, the Lord told us we
needed to go out and buy thisequipment so we could start
recording those chats.
This has never been about howmany people can we reach.
We just had this drive to beable to talk and be fearless in

(06:07):
our talking and be fearless inour growth, and so that's how
that's reflecting for me today, because I was trying to find the
words of how we started.
I don't know how small the Lordor how large the Lord wants
this to be this whole platformto be.
I'm just listening and takingthe steps and doing my work and

(06:30):
so to come out with just thetruth of we need to speak.
That's how it all started.

Mary Koning (06:36):
And I would also like to hear again those tools
that you're using and findingnew ones for fearlessness,
because to me, so much of what Ido requires me to step out onto
thin air.
And I just remember during thedays, dark days, dark nights of
the soul I used to call themduring my divorce where I didn't

(06:57):
have a job and I didn't knowwhat roof was going to be over
my head and where was it goingto house the kids, I felt like I
was windmilling, my hands andarms were just windmilling and I
was like falling out of anairplane with no parachute and
the Lord's like, just stand, canyou just stand?
Because you're actually on thesolid ground, you're on my firm

(07:19):
foundation.
I'm like, oh, why does it feellike falling?
Well, it's because I'm lookingat all around me instead of
looking at the source and theprovider of everything.
And he did.
And so, even though I knew allthat, before the podcast on wise
women, I had forgotten so dearone it's okay to forget, but you

(07:40):
also need to remember.

Tiffany Windsor (07:42):
But we do need to strengthen that memory muscle
and I'll have to look at mynotes from today because I'm
pretty sure pastor talked aboutthat to go to the Lord first as
opposed to going to the fearfirst.
A lot of times then you forgetthe fear, not forget what you're
supposed to.

(08:03):
You're talking about forgetting.
We need to forget the fear.

Mary Koning (08:06):
Oh, that's so good, but the fear leaves the
impression, the imprint, andit's not even an actual thing.
It is the made up, the fear ofwhat could happen, what might
happen and never happens.
I find myself not revisiting, doing the process of did that
fear happen?

(08:26):
Where did it come from?
Where's the source?
Another good friend has taughtme about taking those thoughts
captive, where I thought we'llshoot across our bow like a
missile and we're like, oh nope, not going to let that one land
and we use our weaponry right,Our songs of worship and calling
a friend and praying and doingsomething else, rather than
sitting in the fear.

Tiffany Windsor (08:47):
I have found for me, since I found my
strength in the Lord, that I amconstantly praying.
It's so helpful, especiallywith all of the news that's
going on, everything that's outin the world, and what, of
course, are they trying to do?
They they're trying to have yougo into fear based on news that

(09:10):
may or may not be accurate, that may or may not happen, and,
as you were just talking, I wasjust thinking about that
because I used to spend a lotmore time paying attention to
what's going on in the news andI'm finding that, once I've
switched myself over to havingthe Lord lead me, I don't need
all of that news because theLord has my back.

(09:34):
I don't want it to sound cliche, but I need to spend my time
focusing and listening to theLord and move past the
fear-mongering that our outsideworld is trying to put on us to
pull us away from our moments ofprayer.
I don't know, is thatsimplifying it too much?

(09:55):
I think that's beautiful.

Mary Koning (09:58):
During a recovery group I was a part of for many
years to just sort through themanipulation and false realities
that I was dealing with, therewas a few moments of a bell gong
to my heart, this bell ringingtruth, and that's just what I
feel when I'm with you andyou're speaking truth.

(10:18):
Is it just rings true?
There's that saying, but itechoes in my soul and my heart
and I know it's true.
And those moments are so mucheasier for me to grab and hang
on to.
And one of them that reminds meof something you heard was that
the Lord will take care of you,and I think that was part of
the Wise Women Podcast as wellis that you knew that truth and

(10:40):
you strapped it on, and that'sthe one you wear versus your
fear backpack.

Tiffany Windsor (10:46):
Exactly, and it's so hard for me because I
tend to speak my truth.
In past years, my sisters wouldget very upset with me because
they didn't always want to hearwhat I had to say and it's like
I can't stop myself, as I wastelling you this morning.
It's like that's why I don'thave many friends, because
people don't want to hear thetruth, whether it's coming from

(11:11):
the little tidbits I get or evencoming from someone else.
It's so hard because they getstuck in fear and it's so sad to
me to see how they're notliving their lives and just as
this repeat, it is this filmthat's on repeat after repeat
and they experience the samethings in their lives over and

(11:34):
over again.
If we don't move and grow pastthose moments, it's going to
keep on repeat and I can tellyou you can move past that and
it's okay.
It may be scary, it may be upsand downs, but you will make it
through it and I don't know howto comfort people.
It's not up to me to comfort.

(11:55):
The Lord will put words into mymouth to try to explain to you
and to bring you comfort.
I just encourage you to.
In the moment that that fearpops up, grab another thought.
That's the toolbox.
We keep talking about toolboxes.
It's either having scripture toturn to.
It's the mantra that I did formany years before I became a

(12:16):
Christian, which was cancelclear, bless the fear, choose
again, choose God.
You have to be able to turn offthe noise.
What radio station are you on?
Change the station in your mindto God and not to the fear
station.

Mary Koning (12:34):
I love that and the verses take every thought
captive and sometimes that'sjust not enough.
What's really helped me latelyis the hand motion, the fist on
an open palm, like God has to dothat, and I'm a teacher and
sometimes the kids will see mesaying that and I'm like, no,
I'm taking every thought captiveand they're like, oh, they're

(12:54):
little still and they act beforethey think.

Tiffany Windsor (12:57):
Mary, since we are running out of time today,
let's go ahead and wrap up andcome back next week with part
two of Fearless.

Mary Koning (13:06):
That sounds wonderful and I encourage you to
Fearless my sweet sisters.
