In the Field Audio Bible (04:45):
In
today's episode, we open the
scroll once more, where warningsand promises dance on the same
page, where the weight ofturning back meets the wonder of
pressing on, where hope is nolonger a concept but an anchor.
Pull up a seat.
(05:05):
The scribe has begun to writeagain and the word is still
alive.
The candle burns low tonight.
My hand trembles slightly, notfrom weariness but from the
gravity of what is to come.
There are words I must writenow that some will resist and
(05:32):
others will cling to like breath.
Outside, life hums in quietrhythm.
A woman needs dough whilehumming a tune passed down
through generations.
A merchant yawns, counting thelast of his coins.
(05:54):
A child recites prayers in awhisper, afraid to forget.
And still, this letter is notfor the elite.
It is for them, for theordinary, for the ones who
(06:17):
wonder if they've wandered toofar, for the ones holding on by
a thread, for those who leftfaith behind and for those still
here, but barely.
I've written of the priest whounderstands.
But now I must write ofsomething just as sacred
Endurance, hope, the weight ofnot letting go.
(06:42):
There are verses in thischapter that feel like fire,
words that warn, shake and wakeus, but woven through the heat,
is a thread of promise, awhisper.
God is not unjust.
He sees, he remembers, he holds.
(07:08):
And here, when divine meetshuman again, we discover
something astonishing thatbehind the veil, past our doubts
and failures, hope still holdsfast, Not to us but to Him.
(07:29):
This hope is not wishfulthinking.
It's an anchor planted in thevery presence of God, steady,
unmoving, true.
So I write not to frighten, notto flatter, but to call the
(07:52):
church back to the deep waters,to faith with roots, to love
that labors, to a hope thatdoesn't drift, because the one
who promised is faithful andeven now he intercedes.
(08:12):
We have this hope as an anchorfor the soul, firm and secure.
And so it begins.
This is Hebrews 6, a chapter ofwarning, yes, but also of wild,
(08:35):
untamed grace, of a God whocannot lie, of a promise that
still stands.
As you listen, I invite you toask gently what are you
anchoring your soul to?
What would you change if youbelieved he still holds you even
(08:59):
here?
Let the truth of Hebrews 6settle deep.
Let it speak not just to yourmind but to your weariness.
There is a hope that reachespast the veil.
There is mercy still unfolding.
There is a Savior who has notforgotten you.
(09:21):
The anchor holds, the promisestands and you, beloved, are not
adrift.
He is with you always.
Let's take a moment to quietour hearts and listen to the
(09:42):
word itself.
Let these words sink deep intoyour spirit, bringing comfort,
conviction and encouragement.
Whether you're sitting in aquiet place or out in the world,
allow scripture to meet youright where you are.
Let's listen now to what thescribe, led by the Spirit, wrote
(10:04):
for the weary, the wonderingand the faithful.
I hope you have your favoritecup of tea or coffee.
Sit back, relax and let's stepinto the sacred text of the
Epistle to the Hebrews 6.
(10:46):
The Epistle to the Hebrews 6.
Therefore, let us go on towardperfection, leaving behind the
basic teaching about Christ andnot laying again the foundation.
Repentance from the dead worksand faith toward God,
instruction about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection
of the dead and eternaljudgment.
(11:09):
And we will do this if Godpermits, for it is impossible to
restore again to repentancethose who have once been
enlightened and have tasted theheavenly gift and have shared in
the Holy Spirit and have tastedthe goodness of the word of God
(11:30):
and the powers of the age tocome, and then have fallen away
since, on their own, they arecrucifying again the Son of God
and are holding him up tocontempt.
Ground that drinks up the rainfalling on it repeatedly and
that produces a crop useful tothose for whom it is cultivated,
(11:53):
receives a blessing from God,but if it produces thorns and
thistles, it is worthless and onthe verge of being cursed.
Its end is to be burned over.
Even though we speak in this way, beloved, we are confident of
(12:13):
better things, in your case, things that belong to salvation,
for God is not unjust.
For God is not unjust, he willnot overlook your work and the
love that you showed for hissake in serving the saints, as
you still do, and we want eachone of you to show the same
(12:35):
diligence so as to realize thefull assurance of hope, to the
very end, so that you may notbecome sluggish but imitators of
those who, through faith andpatience, inherit the promises.
When God made a promise toAbraham, because he had no one
greater by whom to swear, heswore by himself, saying I will
(13:00):
surely bless you and multiplyyou.
And thus Abraham, havingpatiently endured, obtained the
promise.
Human beings, of course, swearby someone greater than
themselves, and an oath given asconfirmation puts an end to all
dispute.
In the same way, when Goddesired to show even more
(13:23):
clearly to the heirs of thepromise the unchangeable
character of His purpose, heguaranteed it by an oath, so
that, through two unchangeablethings in which it is impossible
that God would prove false, wewho have taken refuge might be
strongly encouraged to seize thehope set before us.
(13:46):
We have this hope, a sure andsteadfast anchor of the soul, a
hope that enters the innershrine, behind the curtain,
where Jesus, a forerunner on ourbehalf, has entered, having
become a high priest forever, according to the order of
(14:07):
Melchizedek.
So, as we close today, I wantto leave you with something
(14:28):
simple, not a challenge, not achecklist, but a question what
would change in your life if youtruly believed that hope was an
anchor you could hold on to, nomatter the storm?
Hebrews 6 reminds us that God isnot unjust.
(14:51):
He sees your faithfulness, heremembers your love.
He also knows the quiet waysyou've served, the tears you've
hidden, the prayers you didn'thave words for.
And in the middle of all thatuncertainty, he offers something
(15:12):
unshakable A promise sealedwith an oath.
A hope that doesn't depend onyour strength but on your
faithfulness.
Doesn't depend on your strengthbut on your faithfulness.
A hope that reaches past theveil into the very presence of
God.
So how do you live that kind ofhope?
(15:33):
Not by trying harder, not bypretending everything is fine,
but by anchoring your soul inthe one who went before you, the
one who is already in the holyplace, already holding your
future, already praying for yourtoday.
(15:53):
When you feel like giving up,remember he has it.
When you feel like you'redrifting, he has it.
When you feel like you'redrifting, he's still holding the
line.
When you feel forgotten, hecalls you remembered.
When you feel disqualified, hecalls you His.
(16:15):
Let the truth of Hebrews 6,speak gently but clearly.
This week, you're not hoping invain.
Your anchor holds.
Your Savior is near.
So as you reflect on the hopethat holds you, don't walk this
road alone.
We need each other.
(16:36):
Let's become the kind ofcommunity that reminds one
another of what is true.
When the winds pick up, let'sspeak life.
When someone forgets the promise, let's hold fast together,
hearts tethered not to outcomesbut to a faithful God, because
(16:58):
when we hope together, when wetrust together, when we wait and
worship together, we become thekind of church that lives like
we've already glimpsed the mercybeyond the curtain.
So this week, let your anchordown, let His promise steady you
(17:20):
and never forget.
The one who calls you isfaithful and he will do it With
you, with us, always.
Thank you for joining me todayas we journeyed through the
Epistle to the Hebrews 6.
(17:42):
I pray that you carry thesereflections with you into your
day, into your week, and thatyou find strength in knowing God
is with you in every trial, every temptation and every step
of obedience.
If this time in God's Word hasencouraged you, take a moment to
(18:03):
share it with someone who mightneed it, and be sure to join me
next time as we continuewalking through the scriptures,
learning, growing and stayingfaithful in the field of life.
Until next time, may you findpeace in the quiet, trust in
God's call and rest in Hisunchanging love.
