Amid all the hearts and flowers of romance and the prospect of marriage, how many couples take a serious look at how they will manage their money? On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we introduced you to a husband, who along with his wife faced some serious challenges when it came to finances in their marriage. Our guest shared with us 7 key strategies to help couples find solutions to their money conflicts so that they can come back together and honor the Lord with what He has provided. Snips and snails and puppy dog tails or sugar and spice and everything nice, is it possible that at one time telling a boy from a girl was just that simple? We live in a time where agendas have taken the simple beauty of a God-given sexual identity and turned it on its head or even more to the point rejected it outright by a large portion of our society. Instead, young impressionable children are being led astray into gender confusion. Our guests came together to address the slippery slope that so many schools are putting kids on and the high permanent costs they will pay for the damage done to them. Turning to God’s word they laid out what normal, natural child development looks like and gave parents practical guidance to help them help their own children through the sexually misguided teachings of our day, coming into the full beauty of who God created them to be. We gave you and insider peak into the subtle way that people, even believers can get trapped into occultic practices. Our guest a Christian who was also a former new age witch, shared her eye-opening personal story of how she straddled both worlds for a while in her life, what led her down deeper into this deception and what it took for her to turn and rebuild her life with the Lord. She also gave us some timely warnings about the spiritual hunger in kids today and how tarot cards and other forms of divination are being used to provide a quick but false fix to the need that only God can truly satisfy. Marriage is a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be a war zone. There are ways to address and navigate the inevitable conflicts that arise and our guest, a respected psychologist, shared some of the most valuable ones with us. These changes can not only solve the immediate problems but are also steppingstones to building a strong marriage that can weather any future storms. Looking around us the ground seems to be so unstable in the world today.  But Janet and Craig are back once again to reassure us that God who made the world is still in command of it by continuing to teach us how to discern and understand our times us His unchanging truth as our guide.

Hi there. Thanks so much for downloading this particular broadcast
of In the Market with Janet Parshall. And I truly
hope with all my heart that you hear something that
equips edifies, encourage, enlightens, and then in truth, get you
out there in the marketplace of ideas so you can
influence and occupy until he comes. But before you go,
I'd like to tell you about this month's truth tool,
and it very much ties into the marketplace of ideas.

(00:20):
I love Alisa Childers. She is a brilliant Christian apologist,
and she's written a wonderful book called The Deconstruction of Christianity.
Hashtags like deconstruction and evangelical are everywhere, and it really
gives evidence to the fact that there are so many
that are walking away from the faith. It raises the
question why and how do we respond, and what can
we say? What are the roots of this movement? What

(00:41):
really is deconstruction? That's what Alisa does in her book.
She answers all of those questions with powerful biblical eloquence.
It's happening more and more. It's even worked its way
into the church. So you and I need to be
prepared to give a reason for the hope that resides
within us, so we can better contend for the faith
so we know what we believe and why we can
believe it. In the market with Janet Parshall is a

(01:03):
listener supported broadcast, and it's my way of saying thank
you when you give financially. So let me encourage you
to get this book, The Deconstruction of Christianity for a
gift of any amount. Just call 877 Janet 58. That's
877 Janet 58. Pledge your gift. And it's my way
of saying thanks so much for supporting the program. You
can also give online, if you prefer, in the market
with Janet Parshall. Scroll all the way down to the

(01:26):
bottom of the page. There's the cover of the book,
the deconstruction of Christianity, clicking on Make Your Gift, and
likewise you'll also get a copy while you're there, linger
a little bit longer and discover what it means to
be a partial partner. That is my ever enlarging circle
of friends that give every single month to support the broadcast.
They give it a level of their own choosing. They
always get the truth tool, but in addition to that,

(01:48):
they get a weekly newsletter that contains some of my
writing and an audio piece that only gets heard by
my partial partners. So prayerfully consider how you'd like to
support this program, and let me say thank you in advance.
877 Janet 58. 877 Janet 58 or online at in

(02:08):
the broadcast. Important.

S2 (02:15):
Welcome to In the Market with Janet Parshall. Today's program
is where Janet and her husband, Craig, take some of
the stories making headlines this week and offer their insight
and analysis. Before they get started, let's take a quick
look back at some of the highlights from the week.

S3 (02:34):
Satan knows if he can get you divided at the
very core of your relationship in a marriage, then he's
going to win in breaking down the family. If he
breaks down the family, he's going to break down the church,
and then he's going to break down a nation. And Janet,
you work in this space all day, every day. And
I'm trying to boil it down to something very simple

(02:55):
of making peace with your spouse so that Satan can't
divide you at that very personal level when you begin
to make financial decisions together.

S4 (03:06):
A lot of people get married thinking that it is
going to be easy. It'll be relatively bump free. We
won't have to put our work gloves on and work
out our marital salvation over time. So to me, that's
one of the deadlier misbeliefs about marriages. It's just going to,
you know, we're going to walk on sunshine the rest

(03:28):
of our life and just be hap hap happy all
the time. And, uh. To me, marriage is more for
the purpose of maturing you. Helping you to grow into
a more mature, loving human being.

S5 (03:41):
There are children and young adults who have legitimate mental
health issues of stress, anxiety, depression. Perhaps they've been abused.
They don't. They don't know what's going on. And they
think that, oh, I'll just change my gender. Like, that
sounds so simple. And they assume that that will take
care of all of the issues. But as you pointed out,
it does not take care of the issues. And now
we have a misdiagnosed or an underdiagnosed or an accurately

(04:04):
diagnosed mental health issue not being treated.

S6 (04:07):
I think they're very experienced. Um, they're chasing these experiences.
They want to find these answers. And, you know, with
the digital age and TikTok and Instagram and all these
social platforms, you have, uh, people online who are dark
evangelists saying, here, get your tarot cards, read, learn about
your future. These crystals will heal you. And so they're

(04:28):
getting caught up looking in the wrong places, trying to
find that that hunger. They're hungry for God, they're hungry
for Jesus, but they just don't know it.

S2 (04:37):
To hear the full interviews from any of those guests
go to In the Market with Janet Parshall and click
on Past programs. Here's some other stories making headlines this week.

S7 (04:47):
Nintendo is boasting strong early demand of its switch to.
It sold about 6 million units in the seven weeks
following its June launch, the gaming company said in an
earnings update on Friday.

S8 (04:59):
Texas state lawmakers on Thursday held a special legislative session
in Kerrville, the seat of the county hardest hit by
catastrophic flash flooding that killed at least 137 people last month.
One of the deadliest U.S. flood events in decades.

S9 (05:14):
US stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the Dow dropping
about three quarters of a percent, the S&P 500 falling
more than a third of a percent and the Nasdaq
finishing essentially flat but in the red.

S2 (05:28):
Janet and Craig have lots to share, and they'll put
the first story on the table when we return. To
get more information or to download the podcast of any
of the interviews, go to. In the market with Janet Parshall.

S1 (05:51):
There's a difference between healthy reformation of your faith and
destructive deconstruction. The Bible encourages us to examine our beliefs
and align them with truth. That's why I've chosen the
deconstruction of Christianity as this month's truth tool. Learn how
to respond to those walking away from the faith with
compassion and truth. As for your copy of The Deconstruction
of Christianity, when you give a gift of any amount
to in the market, call 877 Janet 58. That's 877

(06:13):
Janet 58 or go to in the market with Janet Parshall.
Happy Friday to you friends. Welcome to In the Market
with Craig and Janet Parshall. That's what happens on Fridays
around here. My dear husband joins us. We put on
our glasses those lens of scripture. We take a look
at the world around us, and we measure what's crooked
and what's not. Thank you. Dwight L Moody for calling

(06:33):
the Bible the straight stick of truth. There's a real
practical application to that. Anybody who's ever worked in their
shop knows that you measure twice, cut once. Right. And
you have to have a plumb line. That's why we
want to take a look at what's being bought and sold,
and just lay it up against the plumb line of
the Word of God. Is it a straight idea built
on everlasting, eternal truth, or is it part of the

(06:53):
crooked and perverse generation in which we find ourselves? We're
called to do just that, by the way. After all,
our Savior was a carpenter. So let's think about making
sure that we measure twice, cut once when it comes
to ideas out there. So Craig and I practice a
kind of applied Christianity, if I can use that phrase.
On Fridays, we take the word of God and we
apply it to the world around us. It's the whole
truth of the whole gospel to the whole world. And

(07:15):
we take a look at what's being bought and sold
out there, and then lay it up against the Word
of God. So we go round robin. We go real fast.
You're going to need two things critical and biblical thinking skills.
And keep your hands inside the ride and your seatbelt
on at all times. Because we move pretty fast through
all these ideas. We're going to start with Israel, because
one of the stories that played over and over and
over and over, and I could keep going over and

(07:36):
over and over again, was that Israel is starving the Gazans.
Not true by any stretch of the imagination. It's a lie.
The UN is a dirty actor in the midst of
all of this. And so there's a whole boatload of news.
And one of the things we subscribe to here is
the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,
all with capital TS, because we follow someone whose name is,
among other things, truth. I am the way he said

(07:58):
the truth and the life, and no man comes to
the father but by me. So we're going to take
a look at whether or not there's any truth in
the idea that apparently Israel is so black hearted that
they are starving the Gazan people. So awful, by the way,
that pictures of starving children are showing up at the
front pages of the New York Times? Or was that
really a starving child? We'll get to that in a minute.

(08:19):
But first I'm going to turn to my good friends
at CBN news. They've got a report to file. Have
a listen.

S10 (08:24):
U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Israel as
international pressure on Israel over the war against Hamas and
Gaza is increasing. This week, a wave of countries announced
it would recognize a Palestinian state if the war doesn't
come to an end soon. Canada followed France and the U.K.
in making the moves. Germany is holding off for now,

(08:47):
but Palestinians are encouraged by what they're seeing so far.

S11 (08:52):
Regarding Canada's recognition. For me, this is an achievement for
us because all the countries have started. France was the first,
then Canada and Spain. It's clear that we have reached
a broader understanding of the Palestinian cause.

S10 (09:05):
But Israel doesn't see it that way. Witkoff met with
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Thursday, and
is touring Gaza with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee
today to inspect distribution of aid. Delivering more food to
Gaza is their first order of business. President Trump tells
NBC news that good management will prevent Hamas from stealing

(09:27):
the aid. Israel is facing mounting pressure, along with claims
of deliberate starvation. Israel's ambassador to the U.S. is blasting
those accusations.

S12 (09:38):
In the month of June, 2134 trucks were sent into Gaza.
Only 260 arrived at their destination. That means 90% was
diverted by Hamas. You want to blame us for that, too?
I mean, for crying out loud. You want to blame
us for conducting a war while we're providing as much

(09:59):
humanitarian aid as possible? Hamas is using this propaganda to
to score points in the international community. And like a
social contagion, everybody is picking this up.

S10 (10:09):
Case in point, the New York Times finally admitted the
photo of an emaciated child in their front page article
on Gaza starvation last Friday actually had a pre-existing medical condition.
Even a former times opinion editor called it, quote, a
remarkable deception. But many believe the global headlines demonized Israel.
Trump posted that the fastest way to end the humanitarian

(10:32):
crisis in Gaza is for Hamas to surrender and release
the hostages.

S13 (10:37):
Mr. Witkoff, you're landing now in Israel. Make this visit. History.

S10 (10:43):
Relatives of Israeli hostages took to the streets of Jerusalem Thursday.
They're depending on Trump. Witkoff and Netanyahu to make something happen.

S13 (10:52):
Please end this nightmare for all the Israeli people.

S14 (10:56):
This is the most Jewish thing to do. This is
the most Christian thing to do. This is the only
correct thing to do.

S10 (11:02):
This group has been in staunch opposition to the way
Netanyahu has handled the war in Gaza. But now that
more countries are joining the UK and France in recognising
a Palestinian state is forcing them to rethink their position,
understanding that it creates a very slippery and dangerous slope.

S15 (11:18):
This is my fear that this is rewarding them while
they are still hostages.

S10 (11:23):
As for Palestine statehood, outspoken Hamas critic and son of
its co-founder summed it up by saying October 7th didn't
happen because Palestinians were denied a state. It happened because
they were given one.

S14 (11:37):
When you're declaring a Palestinian state while there are still
hostages in Gaza, you are saying to all the terror
organizations in the world. Do you want to have an
independent state? Go ahead. Enter to a sovereign country. Abduct.
Kill slaughtered people. Burn babies, rape women, and then the

(12:00):
entire world will be with you and will declare your
new nation. Is this the world we want to live in?

S10 (12:07):
In Jerusalem Paul Pettit, CBN news.

S1 (12:10):
There's so much to unpack in this story. By the way,
I have been posting on my X account all week
on this particular story. Because as the old saying goes,
a picture is worth a thousand words. Front page of
the New York Times. A mother is holding a deeply
emaciated child who turns out was suffering from another disease
might have been cystic fibrosis, I forget, but at the time,

(12:31):
of course, the blaring headline promulgating anti cemetery as well
as absolute journalistic malpractice, saying that this picture represents what
the Israelis are doing with the IDF is doing against
the Palestinian people. and as it turns out, they were lying.
But there's a part of the story that was left
out in that CBN report. You are required in the

(12:52):
School of Journalism when you know factually that you've put
out something that's not true, you're required to do a retraction.
Now newspapers get around this and so do electronic media
in a lot of ways by kind of burying it.
They could say to a judge, hey, we did it.
It just happens to be on page 13. So what
the times did when they issued their retraction and their
mea culpa that they exactly put out a false story

(13:13):
is rather than going to an account where they had
multiple millions of people tied to the New York Times,
they put out this we retract where they only had
tens of thousands of people. So they put it out there.
But the vast majority of people who subscribe to the
New York Times and would be on their preeminent social platforms,
they didn't get this retraction. So it was dirty pool

(13:34):
at best. So they're not starving. And again, it's necessary
to point out that the UN has been the dirty
actor in all of this because they I've seen pictures.
In fact, if you watched my X account this week,
I showed picture after picture after picture of 900 truckloads
of aid that was sitting in a lot, and the
UN refused to distribute it. Now, thanks be to God

(13:56):
that we not only have a great U.S. ambassador to
Israel and former governor Mike Huckabee, but we have a committed,
Bible believing Christian who is an ambassador for Christ first,
before he's an ambassador for the United States. He showed
up with Steve Wycoff today at some of these humanitarian bases,
and he witnessed the distribution of all kinds of aid
when the cameras were there and watching it all game over.

(14:16):
Now the world was watching, and this humanitarian foundation distributed
all kinds of aid to people who truly needed it.
So once again, as I've talked this week with David Brickner,
as I talk regularly with Michael Riedel, as we talk
continually when I talk with Olivier Melnick earlier this week,
this is, at its core, a spiritual issue. So lying, deception,

(14:36):
evil is afoot in all of this. Craig. Your thoughts?

S16 (14:39):
Janet. Just recently Katie Pavelich who you and I know well,
she's a very astute Israel, uh, Israel Observer made this point. History, uh,
announce a history is worth volumes of logic. So a
little bit of history here that she points out, 2005,
when Israel pulled out of Gaza, turned it entirely over

(15:02):
to the Palestinian Authority. They also left behind almost $1
billion worth of greenhouses growing vegetables and fruit, uh, subsidies. Now,
the Palestinian Authority got that as a free gift when
Israel moved out of Gaza. What happened after that? They

(15:22):
didn't protect it. They didn't grow it. They didn't utilize it.
It was allowed to be looted and destroyed. Shortly after that.
The whole history of the mismanagement of the Gaza area
by first the Palestinian Authority, then by terrorists, called Hamas,
is a record of taking opportunities, destroying them in pursuit

(15:46):
of a terrorist agenda.

S1 (15:48):
Yeah, exactly. And and there are many aspects of this story.
So stay with us. As Craig and I kind of
jump around in the various levels of this very complex
and important story. You know, it wasn't just the New
York Times. They have a tattered history, by the way.
Their bias is so bad they're losing subscribers left and right,
because all of a sudden, the New York Times has
been caught on multiple occasions now putting out information that

(16:08):
is the farthest thing from the truth. But this lie,
this photo of this mom holding this poorly, poorly doing child.
And it's a heartbreaking picture, but it is not the
result of the Israelis and the IDF. That story got
picked up and repeated not just in the New York Times,
but in CNN, Sky news, The Guardian, the Daily Mail,
the Daily Express and those and several others. And that's

(16:30):
just the English version that doesn't take into account all
of the foreign press that already has a marked animosity
toward Israel that picked up that story and ran with it.
So this is a troubling pattern of media bias and
a distortion of the truth to demonize. This is why
I think it's an appropriate word. It is spiritual battle
to demonize the nation of Israel. Your thoughts?

S16 (16:51):
Yeah, we're trying to get the word out. And so
is Congress, as a matter of fact. Recently, Senator Tom
cotton was on the well of the Senate making this
very point. Don't create don't believe the propaganda. Know your facts.
And let's put a stop to both the Palestinian movement
and the Hamas terrorist group that has utilized opportunities to

(17:15):
squander all of the benefits, all of the humanitarian aid
that Israel has given it.

S1 (17:20):
Now, that's just the aid part of this story. And
there'll be so much more to talk about if you
listen to this program with any regularity. We are great
allies of the nation of Israel, and I say that unapologetically.
We're going to continue to keep you apprised of what
the stories are, and particularly to take out that flashlight
of truth and shine it when there's deception and really evil,
purposeful Misreporting so that you can create an enemy out

(17:41):
of the nation of Israel, the Jewish state, the Zionist state.
But speaking of states, what about all those countries this
week that said, we support the nation of Palestine? We're
going to talk about that when we return. So again,

(18:17):
take out that straight stick of truth and let's measure
crooked ideas versus the straight stick of God's truth. Okay.
So now what's going to happen at the UN? Well,
there's a little back history here. I want to give
it to you first. In May of 2024, the UN
General Assembly voted to back a Palestinian bid for full membership,
recognizing it as qualified and recommending the UN Security Council
reconsider the matter. Now you can be recognized as a

(18:40):
voting member, but you're not recognized as a nation state. Okay,
so that's the difference. Big difference in 2024 versus 2025.
In September of this year, the UN is reconvening again.
And this time they're going to put forward the idea
of recognizing Palestine as a state. Okay, $64,000 question Where's Palestine?

(19:01):
What are the boundaries? Where is that located? I'm sorry.
And so you've got countries stepping forward that are saying, yes,
you can. When September comes, we're going to be the
first person out of the gate. Emmanuel Macron from France,
who is going to say, yes, we will recognize a
two state solution and we recognize Palestinian state. So what
do the Israelis do? Boy, I love their sense of humor.

(19:22):
On a big building in Israel, in in Tel Aviv
it said Free Paris instead of free free Palestine. It
said free Paris, which was great. Canada has stepped forward.
Germany is on the cusp of doing it. Finland, their leader,
just announced that they were going to do it. So
you begin to see. And by the way, this is
all exciting stuff, folks, because you got the Bible in

(19:43):
one hand, the newspaper in the other, and the nations
are going to rise against the nation. I don't know when.
I'm just telling you that when you start to see
the scenery on the stage move a little bit, you
have to get excited because, behold, your redemption draws nigh.
We're one day closer to his return than yesterday, and
nation will and the words of our Savior become a
cup of trembling to the nations. So animosity is going

(20:05):
to amount. And then when the rapture takes place, remember,
what's the first thing that happens in that seven year period?
It's a false peace. Oh, if there's a false peace,
there has to be some kind of conflict before then, right?
So you start connecting the dots and you're thinking, boy,
I don't know when it's going to happen, but here's
what I do know. It is going to happen. So
a bunch of these nations are going to step forward
and say, we recognize a Palestinian state, which is sound
and fury, signifying nothing. And I can't say it as

(20:26):
good as our Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, who said
it is irrelevant, his words, it doesn't mean anything. First
of all, none of these countries had the ability to
create a Palestinian state. There can be no Palestinian state
unless Israel agrees to it. Number two. They can't even
tell you where the Palestinian state is. They can't tell
you who will govern it. And I think number three,

(20:48):
it's counterproductive. Now, that's the US Secretary of state. Boy,
that tells us very clearly where the US position will
be on this, but it doesn't make any difference. You've
got all of these people that are moving. By the way,
there's a great piece in today's Jerusalem Post with the
headline that says Israel needs an emergency plan to absorb
French Jews after Macron's Palestine recognition. In other words, the

(21:10):
Jews in Paris are going to move out when they're gone,
and you're seeing a greater influx of Muslims in Paris
like you're seeing in the UK.

S16 (21:17):
And increased anti-Semitism.

S1 (21:18):
And that that follows, doesn't it? So again, Marco Rubio
was spot on. You can't define the boundaries of a
nation that has to be pre-existing before you bring it
to the United Nations. The United Nations, with all due respect,
are not kingmakers, nor are they country builders. They were
built for the sole and single purpose of nations working
together to avoid a future world war. Boy, are they

(21:39):
off mission.

S16 (21:40):
Your thoughts? I think it's important to remember that the
United Nations did not create the nation of Israel. If
you want to know who created it, go to the
Old Testament.

S1 (21:50):
Exactly right.

S16 (21:52):
They and the UN will tell you we didn't create Israel.
We recognized its existence. And there are four pillars that
have to be met for tests under international law. Back then,
and it's still in existence today. And one of them
is a land, a land tied number two to a people. Well,

(22:12):
the people group and the land is shown not only
in the accuracy of the history that you see in
the Old Testament, but in archaeology. Constantly archaeological finds are
showing that the history shown in the Old Testament is
is absolutely accurate about King David, about the presence of
the Jews in the land that the Palestinians say is

(22:35):
Palestine and so forth. Also, there has to be, uh,
a system of government and laws. As a matter of fact,
Israel is a shining light next to the United States.
It is one of the most constitutionally minded states, nation
states in the world. There are very few United States

(22:55):
and Israel. And last, it has to have the power
or the ability, through its system of government, to be
responsive and dialogue with other countries, which it has attempted
to do since its founding. But increasingly, the UN has
rebuffed it for reasons that are sometimes border on the ridiculous. Janet,
I'm not a I'm not a fan of the the

(23:18):
current use of Wikipedia for a number of reasons, but
as its founder has criticized, it has a sociological, political and, uh,
kind of a worldview slant that is not accurate. and
that I watch out for. But I have to tell
you that even Wikipedia, and I'm looking at it right now,

(23:39):
describes the Palestinian movement as something that was, quote, formed
in the early 20th century in opposition to Zionism, not
as an advocacy for their right to exist in that land,
but because they didn't want Israel to exist.

S1 (23:58):
Absolutely. By the way, the founder of Wikipedia came to
faith in Christ. Yeah, right. A huge story.

S16 (24:03):
And it's funny how he said, look, I feel compelled
to reveal the truth about what's going on with what
I founded and what I built in terms of Wikipedia.

S1 (24:13):
Bless his heart, particularly on this issue. So again, we've
been to Gaza, okay. And my heart breaks for the
abject poverty in which these people find themselves. But this
is what happens when you're not run by a duly
elected government. You run by a terrorist organization, and you
just nailed it, Craig, when in fact, Golda Meir said
We will only be able to coexist when they start

(24:35):
loving their children as much as we love our children.
Former prime minister of Israel came from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, of
all places, and the reality is that as long as
you wake up every day hoping that the Jews are
thrown from the river, the Jordan to the sea, the Mediterranean,
they will never be a two state solution. When you
existed merely to annihilate a people group, who are your

(24:55):
next door neighbors? So there'll always be something to talk
about with Israel. We wanted to set the facts straight
on some horrific reporting about Israel this week. Back after this.
Jesus told us to go into the world and not

(25:16):
run away from it. And he didn't say it would
be easy. In the market with Janet Parshall is a
program designed to come alongside and walk with you into
the marketplace of ideas. Partial partners are those friends who
support our program on a regular monthly basis. They know
the mandate of influencing and occupying until he comes. So
why don't you become part of the inner circle of support?
Call 877 Janet 58 or go to in the market

(25:36):
with Janet Parshall. By the way, a quick word. This
is the first day of August. Summer's going too fast
and it means we have a brand new truth tool.
So I love, love, love the way Alisa Childers thinks. Boy,
she is one brilliant woman of God. She herself ended
up walking away from the faith, at one point, found

(25:57):
herself in the midst in the throes of progressive Christianity.
And thanks be to God rather than walking away, she
said brilliantly. And this was, I think, the indwelling power
of the Holy Spirit in her life said, no, no, no, no. Test, dig,
find out is everything you've heard, everything you ever believed wrong.
Find out what the Word of God has to say.
And out of that came this brilliantly winsome apologist. And

(26:17):
I just loved the way she writes. So the truth
tool I've chosen for this month is called The Deconstruction
of Christianity what it is, why It's destructive, and how
to respond, and why. I think this is an important
book for every single one of us is you're going
to run into somebody who goes, no, no, I'm spiritual. But,
you know, I don't have anything to do with that
born again Christianity stuff. And you're going to want to
know how to engage. That person who may have never

(26:39):
been saved in the first place, was wounded by the
church and therefore thinks, you know, we're the biggest group
of hypocrites that ever walked the planet. So therefore they're
going to deny Jesus because of the hurt from a
human being, aka C.S. Lewis. Christians of the best argument
for and against Christianity. Or they really got some bad
Bible in their teaching. And so this book helps you
to understand what it is. And in the process, by

(27:00):
the way, even if you're not considering and becoming an
evangelical or you're not deconstructing all these terms that are
pulling so many people into this movement and leading them astray,
the reality is it'll help shore up your truth, your truth,
not your truth. That's. Nope. In fact, she's written about that.
There's no such thing as your truth. It is the truth.
It'll help you know his truth and be a strong

(27:21):
contender for the faith, as we're told to do in
the book of Jude. So brand new truth tool. The
deconstruction of Christianity. Yours for a gift of any amount.
Excuse me. Because we are listener supported. Radio. Just call
eight 7758. That's 877. Janet 58. Give a gift of
any amount, and I'm going to send you a copy
of The Deconstruction of Christianity. You might have a young
person in your life, or a Christian who is starting

(27:43):
to move away from the faith, the great falling away,
as we read about in Scripture. And this book might
help you to know how to winsomely engage that person,
understand where it's coming from and what we can do
to throw out a lifeline. So again, yours for a
gift of any amount. The deconstruction of Christianity. You can
also give online at in the market with Janet Parshall
and today's Friday. Yesterday was Thursday. My partial partners all

(28:05):
got their newest newsletter that comes out weekly. Partial partners
are people who give every single month at a level
of their own choosing. You always get the truth tool,
but in addition to that, you will get a weekly
newsletter that has some of my writing and an audio piece.
Excuse me, that only our partial partners will get. So
consider becoming a partial partner by giving every single month

(28:25):
you decide what level you want to give at. I
just appreciate how many people are coming along and supporting
the program every month. Or if you're interested in just
this book, give a gift of any amount. One time gift.
We're going to send you the deconstruction of Christianity 877
Janet 58 or online at In the Market with Janet Parshall. Oh, okay.
We live in a pluralistic society. What does that mean?

(28:47):
That means in the United States of America, there is
no compelled forced religion. Unlike a communist regime, there's no eradication,
elimination or prohibition for any kind of religion. But that's
different from what England had, which is a state sponsored
kind of religion. The Church of England were not a
theocracy like Iran, where the ayatollahs are running the country.

(29:08):
We have a pluralistic society. That is why our founders,
who came from a wide variety of religious backgrounds, said, uh,
when we start putting together those enumerated rights that belong
to every single citizen of these United States, we're going
to start with the first one that says freedom of religion,
freedom of assembly, freedom of press and freedom of expression.
And so we've got this wonderful protection in our First

(29:28):
Amendment being pluralistic. It means it's a level playing field
and you can't prefer one over the other. In fact,
we wouldn't want that. I don't need that. Neither do you.
The compelling message of the gospel is all we need.
We just have to be obedient to get out there
and share it. That's our problem. It's not that the
government is not doing their job, it's we're not doing
our job to go out and share the good news
of the gospel of Jesus Christ. But I found this

(29:51):
story and I thought, oh boy, this is a wake
up call and a good lesson in civics. I'm not
making this up. I'm reading from their website. The Boston
Police Department is looking to hire Muslims to create a
muslim police force. I'm looking right at their site. The
recruiting event is at the Islamic Center and the officer
organizing it is a Somalian police officer. So they're saying,

(30:14):
come on down. We want to put this panel together.
We want people to respond. In fact, this just happened
last week. Now, if it were right and good and true,
would you have a muslim police squad, would you have
a Orthodox Jewish police squad? Would you have a Church
of Scientology? Would you have a Hindu squad? I know,

(30:34):
how about the born again Christian only police squad? Yeah. No.
In fact, in politics, we have a law. We have
a rule that says there is no religious test for
public office. You can't say if somebody wants to run
for the US Senate. Oh, well, you're a Catholic, therefore
you can't run. We do not. That's prohibited, by the way.
But I do not know what clear thinking people in

(30:56):
Great Beantown were thinking. When they think that somehow you're
going to put together a muslim police force. And it
makes me very curious, thinking people would ask, why are
you supporting Sharia law? Is there a subtext of the
application of American jurisprudence here that you need to have
a muslim police force? And if you're giving due deference,
viewpoint discrimination to all other viewpoints, but you're saying there

(31:19):
can be a muslim police force, when are you sending
up the recruits for the born again Christian police force. Craig.
Your thoughts?

S16 (31:25):
Yeah. Backstory. They formed something called the Muslim Police Officer panel,
and they instituted that in the Islamic Center in Boston
and then started recruiting in the Islamic Center building.

S1 (31:42):
At a religious rite.

S16 (31:44):
Right. So did they go to the the the Catholic cathedral?
Did they go to any Christian churches? Do they go
to a, a Jewish synagogue and and recruit? No they didn't.
So you have to ask why now? Let me let
me sort of wax philosophical here. If I try to

(32:06):
be objective. One possibility is some very dangerous and naive
thinking that they can avoid the, uh, the Boston terrorist
attack scenario in the future if they have a reach
out program.

S1 (32:25):
Like the Marathon Bombers.

S16 (32:26):
But a reach out program would be reach out to
the whole community, right? Or just, let's say, reach out
to the Muslim community. But instead, you're taking the Muslim
community and putting it into the wheels of government and
police enforcement. And it's all that's different.

S1 (32:45):
Yes, Ken, let me pause, because it's a great point.
It's also a fallacious argument because really, it's a denigrating
of the Muslim community, because what you're saying is we're
trying to reach out to you because you're where the
terrorists come from. Well, that's that's not good, right?

S16 (32:57):
It's also naive because, uh, every day and every way,
you know, humans are becoming better and better. Just give
us more reach out programs, more. More nighttime vigils with candlelight, um,
and more education and better policy and human nature will change.
I got.

S1 (33:15):
A book that says otherwise.

S16 (33:16):
Will not change. In fact, as the founder said, when
they had the so-called Federalist Papers, the newspaper opinion pieces, uh,
signed anonymity in anonymity, uh, arguing for this new constitution
to be accepted by all of the states. Uh, they said, look,
if men if all men were angels, we wouldn't need government,

(33:39):
and we certainly wouldn't need a constitution. But that ain't
the case.

S1 (33:43):
Exactly. So if this goes forward and again, it's a
very liberal town. The mayor herself is very progressive. I
guess that's the new word for liberals, um, she declares,
illegally and unconstitutionally. Boston is a sanctuary city. They're not
going to cooperate with Ice. So this will just give
you a sense of the person in leadership and the direction, politically,
of where Boston is going. Uh, well, not everybody necessarily

(34:07):
thinks like that. If you put together specifically a police
force made out of only Muslims, uh, it seems to
me there's a federal constitutional issue there, and somebody could
bring a lawsuit against the city on that.

S16 (34:18):
And there's a difference, by the way. There's a difference
between saying we're going to ban certain religious groups.

S1 (34:23):
Exactly.

S16 (34:25):
Which is unconstitutional, clearly. And there's a difference between that
and saying we have an all comers policy. We don't
care what your religious background is. If you meet our, um,
our examination requirements and our scrutiny and meet the qualifications,
then you can apply. Uh, that's different than saying we're
going to pander to a specific religious group to come

(34:48):
in and police the city.

S1 (34:49):
It's differential treatment. And when it comes to religion, government
can't do that. And the police are an arm of
the government.

S16 (34:56):
Right. So I'd like to see the justification for this.
But like you said, because of the political composition of
the great state of Massachusetts and particularly Boston, apparently they
didn't have a lot of pushback. But maybe they will.
We don't know.

S1 (35:12):
We don't know.

S16 (35:12):
Yet. No. And there's a difference, by the way. Uh, historically,
a lot of, uh, Irish immigrants, uh, found their way
into positions in the police force in the early days
in Boston. You might say, well, there's a good example. No,
what happened was there was an influx of of folks,
legal immigrants from, uh, Ireland that landed and settled in Boston.

(35:36):
So the percentage was high enough where obviously many of
them took a number of positions in government. That's different
than recruiting and saying Irish only.

S1 (35:45):
Well, and it's who does the reach out? The police
department is doing the reach out. Join us at an
Islamic cultural center and will sign you up to be
a police officer with the Boston police, to be a
policeman in the office of to be a policeman in
the Boston Police Department. Now, that is government doing the
reach out. And in so doing, it shows preferential treatment

(36:06):
toward one group. They could have very easily if they had,
you know, where there's a will, there's a way they
could have a class action lawsuit of representatives from a
myriad of other religious groups that file suit against the
city and say, it's prejudicial. You're not going to have
the Jewish police force. You're not going to have the
Hindu police force. You're not going to have the born
again Christian evangelical police force.

S16 (36:26):
Yeah. I you know, I'd love to have a somebody
file a FOIA Freedom of Information request for the discussions
that took place on paper behind this initiative to find
out what's really behind it. And are they really planning
a differential campaign that violates the First Amendment?

S1 (36:46):
So clearly, on its face, unconstitutional. It makes you wonder.
So all I can do is quote the great Mark Wahlberg.
Say hello to your mother for me. Let me take
a break and we'll be right back. This is in
the market with Janet Parshall. Yet another topic on the
other side of this break. Back after this. All right.

(37:13):
This is a good segue, actually, when you think about
the topics that we've been discussing. And this is a
memo that came out obviously terribly underreported in the news
for various obvious reasons. But it was a memo that
got released by the current administration on Monday of this
week that aims to protect religious expression among federal workers.
I'm saying that slowly, because if you work at a

(37:35):
company that makes windshield wipers, this doesn't put you in
this category. These are federal employees, of which there's a boatload.
Number one employer in my town of Washington, DC is
the federal government. But this means federal workers anywhere across
the country. If you work for the federal government, you
fall under this canopy. What does it say? Well, according
to the memo, employees can attempt to persuade coworkers about

(37:56):
why their religious beliefs are correct. Now, let me take
that language and break it down. You know what that
means in language between brothers and sisters who are co
followers of Christ, you can evangelize and you're not going
to get your knuckles rapped by the government or your
supervisor or your boss. In fact, you can do more
than that. The memo outlined conduct that should not result
in disciplinary or corrective action, including displaying Bibles in your office,

(38:20):
including religious artwork, including jewelry. Remember stories people being told
to take their crosses off, posters displaying religious messages and
other things indicating like crosses, crucifixes, mezuzahs and again, all religions.
It's not just this is not giving due deference. Unlike Boston,
this is not giving due deference to one religious group.

(38:40):
It is a religious freedom protection. It is that pluralistic
idea we just talked about a little bit before the.
The memo also said that one or more employees should
be allowed to engage in individual or communal religious expressions,
and that employees can engage in conversations on religious topics,
including attempting I love the language, this you and I,

(39:01):
this is evangelizing. But the government, of course, has to
use 5000 words. So they say, including attempting to persuade
others of the correctness of their own religious views, provided
that such efforts are not harassing in nature. You and me.
That means you can evangelize. Okay. And your boss. Your supervisor.

S16 (39:17):
And by the way, if you use harassment in trying
to somebody coerce somebody into accepting your view of who
Jesus Christ is as a follower of Christ, you're doing
it wrong anyway. Exactly. So these these are common sense,
realistic boundaries. And in fact, when I was reading the policy,
I was looking for the anti harassment part because I

(39:38):
thought you have to have guardrails and that's it.

S1 (39:40):
That's it. And it goes on to say federal workers
can also be this is right from the memo. They
can encourage their coworkers to participate in religious expressions of faith,
such as prayer, to the same extent that they would
be permitted to encourage coworkers participate in other personal activities.
And so the Office of Personnel Management sent the memo
to heads of departments and agencies with guidance on how

(40:01):
to allow personal religious expression by federal employees. Quote, to
the greatest extent possible, this isn't a little this is
a wide open door. To the greatest extent possible, such
an His expression would impose an undue hardship or on
business operations. In other words, you're evangelizing Kent and can't
get in the way of your doing the job that
you were hired to do.

S16 (40:21):
So in other words, if you follow your faith and
you bring it into the workplace as a federal employee,
you are now given breathing room to share that. Live
it out as long as it's reasonable and it's not
oppressive or coercive or harassing of other people.

S1 (40:39):
Listen, you know, this is all temporary. The government is
on his shoulder. There is no perfect government. But I
got to tell you, this Monday, I'm going to talk
to Todd Nettleton. He's going to give us yet again.
That is by the way, let me put a caveat
in there. Unless his second grandbaby does not arrive and
he's not able to talk to me on Monday. But
as of now, he's slated to be with me on Monday.
And we're going to get an updated on the update

(41:00):
on the persecuted church. And you're going to hear country
after country after country, where people are losing their lives,
being put in jail, massacred because they've decided to follow Jesus.
No turning back, no turning back as the song goes.
What this does in the United States is it really
gives you the opportunity now to recognize the fact that
your job, should you be a federal employee, whether it's the,

(41:22):
you know, the the local post office or you're working
in a tax office in Kansas somewhere, if you're a
federal employee, you have this protection. And by the way,
the memo also goes on to say how federal workers
can engage with others about why they think their personal
faith is correct and why others should rethink their own beliefs.
This is one step away from a gospel track if
you're reading this with the lens of Scripture. In other words, full, free,

(41:46):
unfettered opportunity for you to go to work if you're
a federal employee and share the gospel, as long as
it doesn't interfere with the job that you were doing
your tent, making the job that you were doing. This
is this is unbelievable to have something like this in
this country.

S16 (41:58):
If the Bible says, come, let us reason together, then
this is an opportunity to start dialoguing in a civil way.
For for decades and decades, you and I have seen
that the treatment of Followers of Christ, who will be
very diplomatic about the way in which they share their
faith or live it out in modest ways, has come

(42:20):
under tremendous oppression, uh, depending on who's in charge and
depending on which administration and what rules, what policies are enforced.
We have seen this pattern for decades, and for the
first time I'm seeing some breathing room for that to
to be reversed. Now, like you pointed out, Washington flips

(42:41):
with every election. And by the way, I praise God
for the opportunity for elections to make a difference. Yeah.

S1 (42:48):
Um, and this could be a temporary. And again, my
salvation doesn't come by way of Washington, but when the
government does something right. Yay! We need to say thank you, Lord.
And what an opportunity. The memo also says an employee.
I mean, this is a government memo. An employee may
invite another to worship at her church despite belonging to
a different faith. You can work for the government. And. Hey, Susie,

(43:09):
how'd you like to come to church with me on Sunday? Right?
And you're not going to get your knuckles rapped or
reprimanded or be disciplined. And by the way, the federal
government keeps employee files on all of their people, and
you have the opportunity to advance as a civil servant
in your job. So believe me, it's kind of like
the military. That way you don't want any blemish to
be on your record. Well, now you can invite your
coworker to go to church. If you're a federal employee
and not have to worry about the government rapping you

(43:31):
on your knuckles is temporary. We celebrate the victories when
we have them. Thank you God. And now the issue
is not the government. The issue is the follower of Jesus.
You have an open door. Please. If you're a federal worker,
pray about it, take advantage of it and recognize when
you get up and go to work. You may be
working for the government of these United States of America,
but you were sent as an ambassador for a king.
That's the real job definition you have.

S16 (43:54):
You'll remember a case I had in West Point. A
high ranking official in West Point Academy was chastised and
officially reprimanded because he had a Bible verse at the
end of one of his emails. Yeah, well, things are changing,
but they could change again. Bottom line, God's in control.
Let's hear. Have our voices be heard on some of

(44:14):
these public issues in a winsome and biblical way?

S1 (44:18):
Well, and again, thank you, Lord, for this. And we
understand it's temporal. And we thank you so much for
the opportunity, Lord, that you've given us to do this.
Now the onus is on the follower of Christ. You've
got this opportunity. Really? The door is open. Look at
the fields are white with harvest. Are you willing to
now be obedient with feet? Swift with the good news
of the gospel? The government in this moment, and it

(44:40):
only probably will last until maybe three and a half
more years, and then, depending on the outcome of that, election,
may stay in place or may be eliminated. But in
this open door, if you work for the federal government,
you have an opportunity to put on your gospel sandals
and really share the truth. Amazing isn't it? We do
this for another hour. I hope you can listen. If not,
download your favorite podcast where you can find them in

(45:03):
the market with Janet Parshall. See you next time, friends. Thanks.
