S1 (00:00):
Hi friends, thank you so much for downloading this podcast
and it is my sincere hope that you'll hear something
that will equip you, edify you, encourage you, enlighten you,
and then gently but consistently push you out into the
marketplace of ideas where you can let your light so
shine before men and go and tell them the good news.
Before you listen to this podcast, let me just tell
you about this month's truth tool. It's called The Jesus Book,

(00:20):
written by pastor Jack Graham. I love it because he
really does recognize the fact that biblical literacy is declining,
and that a lot of people think that the Bible
is too complicated, that it's written for pastors or for scholars.
And yet, in truth, Jesus is there from Genesis to Revelation.
And that book was written for every single one of us.
We just need a better way to know how to
study God's Word. And that's exactly what the Jesus Book

(00:42):
is all about. So when you give a gift of
any amount this month, I'm going to give you a
copy of the Jesus Book by doctor Jack Graham. Just
call 877 Janet 58. That's 877 Janet 58 or give
online to in the market with Janet Parshall. Also consider
becoming a partial partner. Partial partners always get the monthly
truth tool, but in addition, they get a weekly newsletter

(01:04):
that includes some of my writing and an audio piece
only from my partial partners. So whether you want to
give one time or you want to support the program
every single month, just call eight 7758 or online at
In the Market with Janet Parshall. Scroll to the bottom
of the page. Thanks so much for letting me take
a moment of your time. And now please enjoy the broadcast.

(01:28):
Hi friends, this is Janet Parshall. Thanks so much for
choosing to spend the next hour with us. Today's program
is prerecorded so our phone lines are not open. But
thanks so much for being with us and enjoy the broadcast.

S2 (01:39):
Here are some of the news headlines we're watching.

S3 (01:41):
The conference was over. The president won a pledge.

S4 (01:43):
Americans worshiping government over God.

S3 (01:45):
Extremely rare safety move by a major.

S4 (01:48):
In 17 years. The Palestinians and Israelis negotiated a.

S3 (01:54):
Truce.

S5 (02:08):
I definitely believe that we're living in the end times,
because just seeing the demise of so many things in
the world, I think it becomes evident. And also because
of the gospel reaching, just because as as you see
in the Bible, the gospel has been traveling westward for
a long time, and now it has hit the final block.
And so that's like the Middle East portion. If you're

(02:30):
looking at the 1040 window. And that's where the gospel
has not been reached. And because we see the trajectory
of the gospel reaching there, according to Matthew, I think 2014,
it says, like every like Wednesday, every every ethnic group hears,
then the end will come. So once that area is

(02:50):
reached according to the word, that's when the end should come.
And so I believe that we are living the end
times because that portion is the remaining portion.

S1 (03:00):
Oh, guess what we're going to talk about this hour
and it always makes the phones ring. Hello friends. Welcome
to In the Market with Janet Parshall. I'm so glad
you're with us. Let me give you the phone number.
I'll give it a few dozen more times during the
course of the hour. But here you're going to need
this this hour. 187754836758775483675. And we're going to talk about

(03:21):
the end times. And you know what. Because it could
be real interesting. You're going to need a guide a
survival guide. And that's what we're going to talk about
this hour. The End Time Survival Guide ten Biblical Strategies
for Faith and Hope in These Uncertain Days. Now, this
isn't designed to scare you. It's just exactly the opposite.
That's why we're going to have this conversation with doctor
Mark Hitchcock, who is renowned for his work on teaching

(03:44):
about prophecy and end times. I always consider it such
a treat personally, when he comes to visit. This dear
man started out thinking he was going to be a lawyer,
went to law school, thought that's where the Lord was
going to call him and how he was going to serve.
And his path got redirected, and so he decided to
do a little stopover at Dallas Theological Seminary. And while
he was there, he picked up a master's and a Ph.D.
and he's been writing books and being a pastor ever

(04:07):
since and speaking at conferences. So he is the pastor
of Faith Bible Church in Oklahoma. And also he is
an associate professor of Bible exposition at Dallas Theological Seminary.
So you can get degrees there and you can go
back and you can teach others so they can likewise
get their degree. But he writes all the time on this.
And one of the reasons why I love Doctor Hitchcock

(04:28):
is because he takes these issues that sometimes we think
reside in the ionosphere, and he brings them down to
the Earth, where you and I live, so we can
better understand what's going on. So questions about the end
times this hour with a man who is a leading
Bible prophecy expert. Mark, what a joy to have you back.
I'm so glad you write prolifically, because it means I

(04:49):
get to have conversation after conversation with you. I'm glad
you're here.

S6 (04:53):
Well, thank you so much for having me again. It's
always great to be on with you and I just
appreciate your program so much.

S1 (04:59):
Oh, Mark, thank you for that. I have to ask you,
I'm sure I've asked you in the past, but just
for friends who don't know the answer. This amazing journey
out of the law and before the pulpit, and writing
and preaching and teaching on this. You know, you could
have said, I'm really going to get into hermeneutics or numerology,
but you went into eschatology. What is it, particularly with

(05:21):
your love of the law, that got you interested in
writing about prophecy and end times? Because some people would say, oh, that. No,
that that's a mysterious kind of area. I don't get it.
It's controversial for some saints, so I think I'm just
going to sidestep it. You dove into the deep end
of the pool. That had to be a passion for you.

S6 (05:37):
Well, it is, and one of the main reasons is,
you know, the Bible when it was written was about 28% prophecy.
And when I began to study the Bible in my
early 20s, I realized that I couldn't really understand the
Bible unless I understood prophecy. So really, in some ways,
my love for Bible prophecy is just simply a love
for the Bible. I love to to study the scriptures

(05:58):
and to me, without a good understanding of eschatology and
Bible prophecy, I find it was hard to put the
Bible together. So that's what it began as. And really,
as I've studied it more, I've just realized how important
it is for us, especially in these times in which
we live today, to understand what's going on in our world. Again,
not to point to every little detail and say, oh,
that's a sign of the times, but it gives us

(06:19):
an understanding of really how the stage is being set
today for what the Bible predicts will come in the future.
So it's just something I've enjoyed. It's really helped me
understand the Bible, and I want to help other people
understand the Bible as well.

S1 (06:31):
Should we be afraid to study this part of the Bible?

S6 (06:34):
No, not at all. I mean, it's the greatest comfort
that we have because, you know, if Jesus isn't coming
back and if we don't live in view of his coming,
then we really don't have any hope. If we get
up every day and our hopes in the government or
the stock market or any something like that. I mean,
you know, it's it's that's a fleeting hope. Um, the
blessed hope is that Jesus is coming back someday. That

(06:55):
those who know him will go to live with him
for all of eternity. You know, when we study prophecy,
we study about the coming kingdom of Jesus on earth.
We study about heaven and eternity. And so, you know,
I tell people, look, I think this world is going
to go through a time of trouble and tribulation in
its future. But I'm the ultimate optimist because if we're
a believer, our future is is unbelievable and the best

(07:15):
is yet to come for us.

S1 (07:17):
That's the hope we hang on to. By the way,
so when somebody reads and I know we're going to
skip around in both the old and the New Testament
as we take a look at this. But when you
look at the book of Revelation, people are saying, well,
you know, is it allegory? Is it fact? I mean,
it's future tense. So can we know for sure? Was
it writing about Rome? Was it really writing about future tense?
I mean, we're talking about dragons and beasts and all

(07:38):
sorts of strange things. So as we open the book
of Revelation, what should our approach be toward our understanding
of the style of the book?

S6 (07:46):
Well, the Book of Revelation calls itself a prophecy at
the beginning and the end. So it's a prophecy. I mean,
it's written in the form of an epistle or a letter.
Like a lot many of the other books in the
New Testament, but it contains apocalyptic imagery. So that's what
the Book of Revelation is. It's a prophecy. Um, it's
written in a form of an epistle, and it contains
apocalyptic imagery. So when we come to this book, it's

(08:09):
a prophecy. And almost everyone agrees that chapters one through
three are things that have already taken place. They're written
back for John's day, but I believe being a futurist
at chapters four and following are still future to our day. Um,
and one of the reasons I believe that is if
you read those chapters with any kind of consistent, literal interpretation,

(08:29):
there's no way that you can see those events as
having already been fulfilled. And if you just take a
totally symbolic or allegorical view of all of that, then
it really doesn't mean anything. And I believe that the
symbols in the book refer to something that's literal. So
it's filled with lots of symbolism, but those symbols refer
to something that's literal. And so our function is our

(08:50):
task is to find out what is the literal referent
that these symbols refer to, and they're really not that
hard to decipher when you get in and get into
kind of the flow of the book.

S1 (08:59):
That is a great answer. And you understand why I
love talking to Doctor Hitchcock. So you've got questions. You've
come to the right place as we talk about the
end times. Listen, you got to survive, okay? It's going
to be interesting. Going to be rocky. So you're going
to need a guide. And that's why Doctor Hitchcock wrote
the End Times Survival Guide. We'll talk about some of
those biblical strategies when we get back. (877) 548-3675. The Bible

(09:29):
wasn't meant to be studied by pastors and scholars only.
It was written for all of us. That's why I've
chosen the Jesus Book as this month's truth tool. Learn
to read, understand, and apply God's Word in a new
and powerful way. As for your copy of the Jesus Book,
when you give a gift of any amount in the market,
call eight 7758. That's eight 7758 or go to in

(09:50):
the market with Janet Parshall.

S7 (09:57):
I think that the Rapture is Christ second coming, but
I think the way the church portrays it is it's
a coming before the final coming, like after the millennium.
And I think that the rapture probably won't happen until

(10:17):
after the millennium.

S8 (10:18):
It's something we're looking forward to as believers. It's something that, uh,
I think it epitomizes the the hope, the hope of
every Christian.

S9 (10:28):
I don't know, it seems to be something on the
culture's mind like that. We're into apocalyptic things, and a
lot of people have this sense that something bad might happen.
I don't know if that's paranoia or if that's of God. Um,
but I could see disasters and things happening, but I
could also see unprecedented great things happening and the kingdom
being built. And Jesus said, the kingdom is like a
mustard seed, and it'll grow and grow and grow and
grow and grow and grow and grow. So we have

(10:49):
to take that into account as well.

S1 (10:52):
All kinds of opinions on the End Times. We're talking
with Doctor Martin Hitchcock, who says, you know what, you're
going to need a guide to get through all of this.
And so he's written a book that gives us ten
biblical strategies for faith and hope in these uncertain days.
By the way, let me just extrapolate something out of
what we just heard, and that is we're going to
if you if we look at what lies ahead in, quote,
the end times. In fact, let me pause before we

(11:14):
go any further. Let me use a good lawyer's approach.
I'm going to ask the witness to define for me
end times. What do we mean?

S6 (11:21):
Well, the term end times. It's different. Translations of the
Bible use different terms. We read the term last days
a lot in the Bible. We're certainly in the last days.
In fact, passages like Hebrews one one and three tell
us that the time between the first and second comings
of Jesus, this whole period is the last days. So,
you know, we're in the last days of the last days.

(11:42):
But people use end times a lot of times to
refer just to the future time of the tribulation. But
I've used that term to just describe the times we
live in now, which are the times that will immediately
proceed and include, you know, the time after the rapture
and the tribulation. So, you know, I've titled this book
The End Times Survival Guide, because if you just talk

(12:03):
to the average person out there, that's what they will say, hey,
we're living in the end times. You know, we're living
in the last days. So it's kind of picking up
on that common thinking that people have. And again, this
book is not about how to physically survive, you know, the, the,
the end times, but it's about spiritual survival for individuals,
for their families. Um, you know, it's some, some good,
just common sense, very, very wonderful biblical strategies in passages

(12:26):
in the Bible that tell us, hey, you know, the
Lord's coming back. Here's how you're to live in these times.
So I've kind of isolated ten of those and focused
on those in the book.

S1 (12:35):
Right? The way we survive spiritually. And I think that's
extremely important. Now I'm entering I'm entering into this with
fear and trepidation, being a Packers fan. But I guess
you're going to have to talk about the bears defense
a little bit. So talk about the 46 defense and
why that's an important strategy.

S6 (12:52):
Well that's right. Yeah. I've used this title of yeah,
the 46 defense. You know, the old bears, 1985 bears
and how they, uh, dominated opposing offenses. But I use
the passage in Philippians four six, you know, the Bible says,
you know, don't worry about anything, but in all things,
by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be
made known to God. And the peace of God that

(13:14):
passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind in
Christ Jesus. And so I use that that analogy of
the 46 defense. That's really our defense against worry and
against anxiety in these times in which we live. And,
you know, it's interesting. The passage says, you know, don't
worry about anything. Or the old King James says, be
anxious for nothing. And so it doesn't say be anxious
or worried about some things or just a few things,

(13:36):
but nothing. And the way we do that is it says,
don't be anxious for anything, but in all things by
prayer and supplication let your requests be made known to God.
So it's thankful. Prayer. That really is the antidote to worry.
And it tells us that if we do take our
cares and our worries to the Lord in thankful prayer,
that he will give us an unassailable peace. It's a

(13:59):
peace of God that passes all understanding, that guards our
heart and our mind. And the word used there for
guard is used of a really a military guard to
set a fortress around our hearts and our minds. And
with all the things going on in our world today
to worry us and our personal lives and internationally, and
all the news that we see now, this is a

(14:19):
great defense that all of us need to employ. And
I had an old friend of mine years ago. It's
kind of a corny old saying, but I loved it.
He used to always say, say when in a fix,
go to Philippians four six. And I've used that many,
many times in my life. And again, it's kind of corny,
but I remembered it, you know, it's and so it's
a great thing to remember, and it's a great chapter
that I have here in the book about, you know,

(14:40):
when you're in a fix, go to Philippians four six
and it's the antidote God's given us. It's the 46
defense against worry.

S1 (14:46):
Yeah, I love that. So let me go back. And
this is why I'm glad I asked you how you
would categorize chronologically what constitutes the end times today forward.
So this idea of worrying is not new to us.
It isn't germane just to quote the end times. It's
a frailty of the human condition where our propensity, I think,
is to worry. So what you're saying is, even when

(15:07):
some of those things that Scripture writes about, when we
grow cold and there's a distance between parent and children
and lovers of self and, you know, immorality is on
the loose. ET cetera. And all those things, not just
counting the concerns in our own little house. Philippians four six. Right.
Be anxious for nothing.

S6 (15:24):
That's right. And what I try to do with all
the chapters in this book is I try to relate
them to statements as well that are made about the
end times. And, you know, Jesus speaks to that. He
he tells people who are living in these difficult times
of the last days. He tells them that they're going
to be weighed down with worries, you know, and the
cares of this world. And so it is a passage

(15:46):
or it's an idea that Jesus relates to the end
times or to the last days when people are going
to be weighed down with all kinds of cares. And
so I've tried to tie each one of these chapters
to something that's related in Scripture, to how we're to
live in these, you know, these last days, these times
where it's so difficult. What Jesus in Luke 21, 34

(16:06):
and 35, he's speaking about the future. He says, walk
you out. Don't let your hearts be dulled by the
worries of this life. You know, don't let that day
catch you unaware like a trap. And so he's telling us, look,
in these times in which we live, one of the
things we're going to be prone to with all that's
happening is worry. And so then I go to Philippians
four six and give us the prescription for that.

S1 (16:27):
Yeah, I love that. And by the way, that's emblematic
of the entire book, ten Biblical Strategies for Faith and
Hope Being the Operative word in these uncertain days. It's
called the End Times Survival Guide, written by our guest,
doctor Mark Hitchcock. Our number (877) 548-3675. When we come back,
I'll take some of your calls. Eight. (877) 548-3675. Do you

(16:48):
have some thoughts about the end times? Are you trying
to figure out how you put one foot in front
of the other? Not walking, but running? Hebrews 12. We're
going to talk about that as a strategy when we return.

S10 (17:16):
Well, the rapture of the church is that moment that
in an instant, those who are true followers of Jesus Christ,
what the Bible says are born again will disappear. It
will be caught away into the heavens to meet Jesus
in the air, and we'll be taken to heaven.

S11 (17:34):
Certainly the seeds of the rapture are in Paul's first
letter to the Thessalonians, when he talks about those who
are alive, being caught up with the dead in the resurrection.
But Paul certainly doesn't delineate a kind of Armageddon, which
I think is very much part of the sort of
popular notion of this kind of moment.

S12 (17:58):
Once the church is out of the way, the Antichrist
will be revealed.

S10 (18:02):
The Antichrist will sign a peace treaty with Israel that
will last seven years, three and a half years into that,
he will break that treaty and actually occupy the the
Jewish temple and set himself up as God.

S3 (18:18):
He will put an end to sacrifice and offering, and
on a wing of the temple he will set up
an abomination that causes desolation.

S1 (18:30):
All of this ties back to our conversation about the
end times, and we need a survival guide. That's what
doctor Mark Hitchcock has written. He writes an awful lot
of books, by the way, on the End Times, I
particularly appreciate this one because it isn't just looking at
the eschatology, that 50 cent theological word that basically means
the end times. It's really sort of answering that question
of how do we live in these latter days? And

(18:51):
I think that helps each and every one of us.
So he offers key biblical strategies, ten of them, so
that we can press forward in both hope and faith.
It's called the End Times Survival Guide. Doctor Hitchcock, of course,
is the senior pastor of Faith Bible Church in Edmond, Oklahoma.
But he also is very much tied back to Dallas
Theological Seminary, where he picked up a couple of degrees
and is an associate professor as well. (877) 548-3675. Glen, let

(19:17):
me welcome you from Wisconsin. Your question please.

S13 (19:20):
See, I'm really confused on the rapture. Um, I grew
up a different religion, but all my friends are leaving me.
They believe in it. And whenever I ask them to
show me where it says that they're done, they're gone.

S14 (19:34):
Okay. So would you like Doctor Hitchcock to show you?

S13 (19:38):
Well, yeah, because when I read, when I read Thessalonians,
I try to figure out who's speaking and what they're
talking about. And I guess I confused where the where
the deceased are.

S6 (19:51):
Yes. Um, whenever a believer today dies, um, that the
material part of that believer is placed in the ground,
their body, the immaterial part of that person goes immediately
to be with the Lord. Uh, the soul, the spirit
goes immediately to the Lord's presence. Paul says, you know,
to be absent from the body is to be present
from the Lord. He says, you know, we're if we're
absent from the body, we're at home with the Lord.

(20:12):
So we our soul, our spirit goes immediately to be
with the Lord one of these days. First Thessalonians four
tells us the Lord's going to come down from heaven,
and it says he's going to bring with him those
who have fallen asleep. Now what he's going to bring
with him is their soul, their spirit, because their bodies
here on the earth and further down there, then it says,
the dead in Christ will rise first. That refers to

(20:32):
their body. Uh, their body will be raised because their
spirits are already with the Lord. So at that point
in time, there will be a rejoining that will take
place A perfected spirit that's been in heaven with the
Lord will be rejoined with an incorruptible, imperishable, immortal body.
And then it says, we who are alive and remain,
that is, the people that are alive when he comes
are going to be caught up. And that's the Greek

(20:55):
word harpazo. That's the word we get rapture from. We're
going to get caught up in the clouds to meet
the Lord in the air. So at the rapture, when
the Lord comes, believers are either going to be dead
or alive. Those who are dead, their bodies will be
raised to be rejoined with their perfected spirits. The Lord
brings with him those of us who are alive will
be transformed. First Thessalonians 15 tells us we will all

(21:17):
be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
as we're caught up to meet the Lord, and we'll
be transformed body, soul, and spirit, than to go to
meet the Lord and to be in his presence. So
the word rapture never appears in most English translations of
the Bible. When the Bible was translated from Greek to
to Latin by a man named Jerome. The Latin word

(21:40):
he used was, uh, was the word rapio. And so
in the Vulgate, the Latin Vulgate, it's called the rapio.
And that's where we got the word rapture. So it's
just a theological term we use to describe the catching
away of God's people that's spoken of in one Thessalonians 417.
So the rapture is clearly a biblical doctrine. Really, the
only thing that we debate is the timing of it.

(22:02):
You know, will it happen before the tribulation? The middle
or the end? But the rapture itself is clearly taught.
I believe in the Bible.

S1 (22:09):
Ah, excellent, Glen. Thank you. And another rapture question, Tara
in Minnesota. Thanks for being here. Your question, please.

S15 (22:17):
If you hear us. Hello. Yeah. I want to know
if the rapture is real.

S6 (22:24):
Well, yeah, I just answered that question, I think. Um,
you know, I'll mention another book editor, Heinsohn and I.
Ed's a really good Bible teacher from Liberty University. He's
the dean of the school of religion there. Ed Heinsohn
and I've written another book called Can We Still Believe
in the rapture? And so people that have a lot
of rapture questions, you might check out that book. It's
very new. We've written it recently. It's got the newest,

(22:45):
most recent scholarship in it. And we try to have
a really good spirit. We're not attacking people that disagree
with us. We're just trying to answer from the Bible
what we believe the Bible teaches about the rapture. So yeah,
the rapture is real. It's going to happen someday. And,
you know, it's just like other prophecies. And we have
a lot of prophecies that the Bible has given that
have already been fulfilled. And so the Bible has 100%

(23:08):
track record of fulfilled prophecy. And the rapture is another
one that's been prophesied that hasn't been fulfilled yet. So
we know it will happen someday. And it it could
be at any moment. So we need to always be ready.

S1 (23:20):
Amen to that. Let me take a break and come
right back. We're going to continue looking at those ten
strategies I referenced running before. I want to talk about
that and why Hebrews 12 is one of those survival
strategies for these latter days. We're visiting with doctor Mark Hitchcock,
who's the author of this, and oh, so many more
books on end times prophecy. This one is called the

(23:40):
End Times Survival Guide ten Biblical Strategies for Faith and
Hope in these Uncertain times. Our number again (877) 548-3675. By
the way, if you like this conversation and are being encouraged,
and I hope you are, I hope you'll support us financially.

S16 (24:56):
Do you think that we are in the end times?

S17 (24:58):
Well, I think it very well could be. But of
course people have been saying, and I'm sure for thousands
of years, based on what they read in the Bible,
I think it's definitely a good time for him to come.
I think there's a lot of us that want want
him to come really, really soon because of the way
the world is getting to be.

S16 (25:12):
Let me ask you something. Do you do you think
you would know who the Antichrist was? Uh.

S17 (25:18):
You know, I I'm not sure. He supposedly fools a
heck of a lot of people, even, uh, by reading
the Bible. I'm not sure you can identify the Antichrist
until it's too late.

S16 (25:30):
Do you think we're in the end times?

S18 (25:32):
I think we're at the break of it. It's, uh.
I mean, look at all the chaos around the world.
The government overthrowing everything. Throwing out stuff that, you know,
it's just. It's a lot of stuff, man.

S16 (25:47):
That's for sure. Let me ask you something. Do you
think that you could identify the Antichrist?

S18 (25:52):
I don't know. Nobody's ever going to know who that
is until it happens.

S16 (25:56):
Do you think we're in the end times?

S19 (25:58):
Yeah. I don't see why not. Like, there's radio stations
out there. So y'all got a good shot.

S16 (26:04):
Why, uh, why do you think that.

S19 (26:07):
There's a lot of empty stations out there?

S16 (26:10):
Uh, let me ask you a question. Do you do
you think you could identify the Antichrist when he shows up?

S19 (26:16):
Probably. So this is some paranormal stuff, right?

S1 (26:22):
I'm stuck on the radio station part, but I digress.
Doctor Mark Hitchcock is with us. Leading Bible prophecy expert,
prolific author. He's written multiple, multiple books on end times.
He's also senior pastor at Faith Bible Church in Edmond, Oklahoma,
and adjunct faculty member of Dallas Theological Seminary. He joins
us today because his latest book is called The End
Times Survival Guide Ten Biblical Strategies for Faith and Hope

(26:46):
in These Uncertain Days, and you can learn more at
our website. In the market with Janet Parshall. Every line
is lit, but I got to go to Hebrews 12.
You unpack this so beautifully in this chapter, Mark. I
love that passage. I've claimed that passage is my life verse.
Why running with perseverance? Why is that so crucial in
these latter days?

S6 (27:06):
Well, the Bible says that our enemy, Satan, the devil,
he's like a roaring lion. He's seeking someone to devour.
And the word devour there literally means to gulp down.
I mean, he's looking for people who are standing still
in life, or believers who aren't progressing in their lives
to attack and come against. And now there's a great
quote I'll just read from the beginning of this chapter

(27:27):
I got from a friend of mine. He says, every
morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it
must outrun the fastest lion, or will be killed Every
morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it
must run faster than the slowest gazelle or it will starve.
It doesn't matter where you're the lion or the gazelle.
When the sun comes up, you'd better be running. And
I like that because, um, you know, that's the same

(27:48):
for us, really. In our lives, every morning when we
wake up as believers, we'd better be running. We'd better
be moving forward in our Christian life. And that's a
common metaphor. When you read the New Testament, it talks
a lot about running. Many passages talk about us running
the race for our life. And so I think it's
a very important principle for us to, uh, Hebrews 12

(28:09):
says to lay aside every encumbrance and the sin that
so easily entangles us and run with endurance the race
that is set before us. And so I think in
these times in which we live, where there's all kind
of entanglements and all kinds of encumbrances, and the enemy
is on the prowl, it's more important than ever for
us as believers that we hit the ground running every
morning in our relationship with the Lord.

S1 (28:31):
Yeah, I love that. Thank you. Mark (877) 548-3675. Jerry, let
me welcome you from Ohio. Your question on the Antichrist.
I'm glad you're here. Please go ahead.

S20 (28:41):
Yeah. My question was, I've been taught that, uh, the
next thing in prophecy to happen will be the Antichrist
being revealed. And my question was, you know, it says
in Second Thessalonians, uh, let's see where it is in
in second. Second Thessalonians two three it says, let no

(29:05):
one deceive you by any means, for that day will
not come unless the falling away comes first. And the
man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition. So
when I'm when I'm. Question is, is the Antichrist going
to come first? And if people are looking for the rapture,
and are they going to be fooled because they're thinking

(29:25):
Jesus is going to come in the rapture and instead
it's going to be the Antichrist coming first?

S6 (29:33):
Well, there's differences of opinion about that. It depends on
where you place the timing of the rapture. Again, you know,
as we've talked about earlier, I believe in the pre-trib rapture.
So I believe the rapture will take place. And when
it says there in Thessalonians, that day won't come unless
the falling away comes. And the man of lawlessness I
take that day is referring back up in the verses

(29:54):
he's just been discussing of the day of the Lord,
which I would refer to as the tribulation period. So
the tribulation period won't come until the apostasy comes, the
falling away and the man of lawlessness is revealed. But
I believe the rapture will occur before that. But again,
there's others that believe the rapture will be at the
middle of the tribulation. Some that believe it will be
at the end. So for those people, they do believe

(30:16):
that the Antichrist will come before the rapture. So again,
it just depends on where you place those events. But
there are other places in the Bible like like Titus
213 that says that we're to be looking for that
blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God
and Savior, Christ Jesus. So it tells us they're be
looking for the blessed hope. It doesn't say be looking
for the Antichrist. So my view is again, people disagree.

(30:39):
But my view is the next event on God's prophetic
calendar will be the rapture. There would be looking for
the blessed hope. Then after that, sometime the man of
lawlessness will be revealed, the Antichrist. And then the day
of the Lord will come or that time of tribulation.

S1 (30:52):
Thank you Jerry. Matthew in Pennsylvania. Appreciate you being here.
Your question please.

S20 (30:58):
Thank you so much for having me, Janet.

S21 (31:00):
And Doctor Hitchcock. What a pleasure. Uh, number one, thank
you so much for your encouragement to run our race. Uh,
it means a lot to all of us. Um, so, um,
I've been studying out, uh, some of the end time stuff.
And if I understand, there will be temple sacrifice in
the tribulation period and the new temple. Is that correct?

S6 (31:21):
Yes. It appears there will be. Yep. There'll be. It'll
be the third temple. Yeah. There's been two that have
been destroyed. There will be a third temple that will
be rebuilt. Yes. And I think there will be sacrifices
is offered there.

S21 (31:33):
Okay, so I am just wanting some confirmation because I
recently recently heard a teaching on temple sacrifice in the millennium.
I wanted to know what your thoughts on that was.

S6 (31:45):
Well, I believe there will be. Again, this is a
whole nother issue. That will be the fourth Jewish temple.
So there have been two destroyed. There'll be one in
the tribulation period built, I believe. I think it could
be built soon. Um, but when Jesus returns. Ezekiel, the
main passage, Ezekiel 40 to 48 describes a scene that
I believe refers to the millennium, and I believe it's

(32:06):
a future temple that will be in Jerusalem. And it
does mention sacrifices being offered there. Now, that causes a
lot of people problems because they'll say, well, you know,
the sacrifice of Jesus was one sacrifice for sin forever.
You know, it was the finished work of Christ. So
why will there be future sacrifices? You know, somehow that
seems to denigrate, you know, the work of Jesus. It's

(32:27):
kind of a retrogression in in theology instead of a
progression that's explained different ways. Some believe that those sacrifices
in the millennium will be like memorial sacrifices. You know,
they'll look back to the death of Jesus, kind of
like the the the Lord's Supper now looks back to
his death. You know, they won't have any atoning value

(32:48):
because obviously the one sacrifice for sin forever paid for that.
They'll just be memorials. Others believe that they'll provide ritual
cleansing for people who are coming to to worship in
that temple because, you know, Jesus will be physically present there. Uh,
God's glory will be present in that future temple. So
people who are coming there that have lived through the
tribulation and gone into the millennium and their human bodies

(33:10):
will still be sinful. So they will have to go
through ritual cleansing or purification by these sacrifices to come
into God's presence. But it's clear that some sacrifices are
being offered in this future temple, so we have to
have some explanation for it. And those are at least
a couple, the main ones that people have about that.

S1 (33:30):
And I thank you, Matthew, for being with us. (877) 548-3675.
Theresa in Idaho. Thank you. We'll take your question, please.

S22 (33:40):
They have to work. They also and that's kind of
new hundred.

S1 (33:50):
Theresa, you're on the air. Do you have a question?

S23 (33:53):
Hold on.

S22 (33:53):
Yes, I. Can you hear me?

S1 (33:56):
I can, thank you. Please go ahead.

S22 (33:59):
Yes. My question is, is that since we, the Bible
talks about our name being blotted out of the Lamb's
Book of Life. So how does that work with the
end times? Once saved. Always saved.

S6 (34:13):
Well, you're. I guess you're probably referring to revelation three five.
He's writing there to the church at Sardis, and he
says to those there who walk, you know, uh, uprightly
and wear white robes. And he says, I will never
blot your name out of the book of life. Now,
some people take because he says that that that means
that some people's names will be blotted out. But he's

(34:36):
referring there to the overcomers. I believe, and overcomers are
believers because first John five four says, this is the
victory that overcomes the world, our faith. And it's actually
a double negative there in the Greek. He says to
these overcomers, he says, your name will never, ever. It's
a double negative, a double negative. There will never, ever
be blotted out of the book of life. So I

(34:58):
see that not as a statement that some people's names,
some believers names will be blotted out of the book
of life. I take that as a strong guarantee that
no believer's name will ever be blotted out of the
book of life. So I think a lot of people
read that passage and kind of turn it on its
head and make it mean the opposite. I think of
what it means. So he says there, if you're an overcomer,

(35:18):
your name will never, ever be blotted out of the
book of life. So to me, that's an assurance to
us that we're eternally secure. So I think the verse
actually supports eternal security. It doesn't go against it.

S1 (35:30):
Wonderful. Thank you for that, Mark. The book that we're
discussing is called The End Times Survival Guide ten Biblical
Strategies for Faith and Hope in These Uncertain Days, and
we've only touched on a few. There are many in
the book that tell us how to put one foot
in front of the other as we're running with perseverance,
that race that's been set before us. You can learn
more by going to. In the market with Janet Parshall.

(35:52):
Scroll down until you see white letters in a red box.
It reads Program Details and audio. Click it over. Take
it to the information page. There's a link to Mark's website.
Lots of great stuff there. And the book we're discussing,
we come back, more of those strategies, more of your
calls on in the market with Janet Parshall.

S24 (36:25):
What do I think will cause the end of the world?
I think God's gonna come back.

S25 (36:29):
I have no idea.

S26 (36:30):
I have no idea. I won't be around.

S27 (36:33):
With Jesus Christ coming back again.

S28 (36:36):
I just think that, uh, throughout history, a lot of
people have misunderstood Bible prophecies, including Pharisees and Sadducees and
such people. And I don't want to be in a
position where I think I have all the answers and
I miss what God is actually doing.

S29 (36:50):
I don't know. That's the only answer I can give you.

S30 (36:52):
I'm going with zombies.

S31 (36:53):
I've never thought about it. Ever.

S32 (36:54):
I just think the world will end in fire.

S33 (36:56):
What I think about is how to make the world
a better place, I think.

S34 (37:00):
Zombie apocalypse. I'm actually kind of very afraid of it
because there's so many diseases. I'm very scared of it.

S35 (37:05):
We're all just going to die.

S36 (37:06):
And a big boom in revelations.

S37 (37:09):
The world will end in revelations.

S38 (37:11):
There's going to be saints and there's going to be
dividing the saints and the sinners. It's going to be
a heaven or a hell. Those that are the righteous
are going to make it into heaven. Those that are
sinners are going to hell. That's how it's going to end.

S39 (37:23):
How do I think it's going to end? It's going
to blow up.

S1 (37:28):
Well, the question is not how is it going to end?
But are you ready when it does end? And doctor
Mark Hitchcock has been asking that question for a long time,
by the way. His latest book is called The End
Time Survival Guide. And he really challenged us to start
thinking strategically. So he gives us ten biblical strategies for
faith and hope in these uncertain days. I'm so glad
that one of the strategies is our becoming more aware

(37:51):
of spiritual warfare. Mark, I'm an old Bible church person myself,
so straight and narrow, you know, and this whole topic
about spiritual warfare I've often said is like goldilocks's porridge
too hot in some churches, too cold in some churches,
just right in other churches. So I want to have
a biblically grounded perspective on this. But do you and
you start with this excellent quote from Doctor David Jeremiah.

(38:11):
Do you agree with him that there's an uptick in
spiritual warfare in terms of activity in these days?

S6 (38:18):
Oh, yes, I believe there definitely is. You know, Satan,
he reads the Bible, too. He knows the Bible, and
I think he realizes that time is short. And I
think that Satan is unleashing an all out effort against
the body of Jesus Christ. And when the church is raptured, someday,
he's going to turn his hatred then against the people

(38:40):
who are left behind, but also against Israel during that time.
And we see that a lot today. But, you know,
the the Bible tells us that we're to to put
on the full armor of God. And, and in Romans
13 it says, this is all, all the more urgent.
For you know how late it is that time is
running out. You know, the night is almost gone. And
he says, put on the armor of light. And so

(39:02):
we're enjoined in the Bible to put on our spiritual
armor in these days, because the time is short. And
think about when Paul was writing this to the Romans.
That was 2000 years ago when he was saying, look,
the night is, you know, the day is almost over.
You know, it's almost night. Um, and so how much
more should we be focused today on putting on the

(39:22):
full armor of God to help us to stand against
the strategies of the enemy.

S1 (39:27):
Yeah. Wow. Thank you for that. One of the many
strategies in the book, The End Times Survival Guide, written
by doctor Mark Hitchcock. (877) 548-3675. Elizabeth in Indiana. Thanks for
being here. And your question, please.

S40 (39:42):
Hi. My question is actually in regards to false prophets
and how we should be aware in the end times
of New Age religion and different churches even, and different
movements that are preaching falsely in Jesus name, and how
we need to be aware and make our family and
friends also aware of that.

S6 (40:02):
Well, that's a good point. Very good point. I mean,
there's a lot of deception out there today, more than
ever at any time in history because of things like,
you know, radio and television and the internet and all
these other things. You know, all of these methods of
technology we have today are wonderful vehicles to get out
the truth, as we're doing on this program right now

(40:22):
that we're on, that's being heard all over the world.
But the downside to that is these same waves are
open to those who are teaching falsehood. And so you're
right to be very aware of that. The Bible tells
us in second Timothy 313 that that evil men and
deceivers will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

(40:43):
So one of the signs of the coming of Christ
is a rise in false teaching and a rise in deception. Um,
one of the the ways the Bible describes this, it
calls it apostasy. And there's an ultimate final falling away
in apostasy that's coming. And it appears today that we're
on the leading edge of that. Um, you know, what
we need to do is, first of all, we need

(41:05):
to know the Bible. You have to know the truth
in order to spot the counterfeit. And so, you know,
I would encourage everyone who's listening to study the Bible. Uh,
read good authors. Um, I went to Dallas Seminary. I
have a lot of confidence in Bible teachers from there. Um,
but to know the truth for yourself to get in
a church that's grounded in the truth. And you know,
if you have doubts about someone, find someone you trust

(41:27):
who knows the Bible and ask about about people before
you become a real follower of them or a listener
of them.

S1 (41:35):
Elizabeth. Thank you. I appreciate your being a part of this.
So let me, because we were talking about spiritual warfare,
let me talk about the Holy Spirit, because that's one
of the strategies you challenge us to constantly be under
the influence of the Holy Spirit. And you quote D.L.
Moody where you say, he said, I can tell you
in five words how Christians can become more holy, useful,
and fruitful. Be filled with the spirit. So this raises

(41:56):
an interesting question. On the day that I received Christ
as my personal Savior, I had the indwelling of the
Holy Spirit. So how can I then be filled with
more of the spirit? Explain that to me.

S6 (42:08):
Yes, that's a good point. When we get my understanding again,
there's people that disagree on these points. You know, I
think you get the spirit later at some point. But
we believe that the Holy Spirit indwells us at the
moment of salvation, because Romans chapter eight and verse nine says,
if anyone does not have the Spirit of God, he's
none of his. So if you don't have the Holy Spirit,
you're not a Christian. So the Holy Spirit indwells us.

(42:28):
He comes to live inside of us. The issue of
the filling of the spirit is not me getting more
of the spirit. It's the spirit getting more of me.
I like the old statement one time someone made, you know,
the spirit is resident within us, but he wants to
be president within us. I mean, he wants to rule
and dominate and control our life. And so the filling

(42:49):
of the spirit is is me as a believer, allowing
the Holy Spirit to control my life, to have influence
over my life. It's pictured in Ephesians 518. It's contrasted
with being drunk. You know, when someone is drunk with alcohol,
the alcohol takes over and controls them. When we're filled
with the spirit, it's the spirit that takes over and
controls our life. And to survive these last days, we

(43:11):
need to be spirit filled believers.

S1 (43:13):
Yes. Amen. Oh, Mark, the book is so good. And
by the way, we've just touched lightly on four of
the ten strategies that Doctor Hitchcock addresses in his book
The End Time Survival Guide. So I hope after hearing
Doctor Hitchcock talk, this has stirred you to say, oh,
I got to read what the other six are. Because
there's a lot of good, healthy, biblical counseling on right

(43:35):
living with both faith and hope in these latter days.
And you'd be right. That's exactly what the book is about.
So check it out at In the Market with Janet
Parshall in the market with Janet Parshall. Again, you're going

the title once more. It's called The End Time Survival
Guide by Doctor Mark Hitchcock. Mark, thank you. Love our
