S1 (00:00):
Hi friend, thank you so much for downloading this podcast
of In the Market with Janet Parshall, and it is
my most sincere hope that you are edified, equipped, enlightened,
encouraged and then it makes you just want to get
out there in the marketplace of ideas and influence and
occupy until he comes. But before you start listening, let
me just take a moment of your time to tell
you about this month's truth tool. It's called The Steadfast
Love of the Lord by my friend and frequent guest,

(00:22):
Doctor Sam Storms. You know, he tells us that so
often we struggle with this idea of feeling like we're
loved by God, or that somehow we've done something that
separates us from the love of God. But we fail
to remember the Scripture that reminds us that while we
were yet sinners, not perfect, not all put together, not
everything's all been worked out while we were yet sinners.
That's when Christ died for us. Love is an action word,

(00:44):
and that's what Doctor Sam Storms reminds us in his book,
The Steadfast Love of God. I don't know about you,
but with the headlines of the day, being reminded of
who God is is about the most precious news I
could hear on a regular basis. And I'd love for
you to have a copy written by a man who
understands the Bible and always delivers rich theology. So just
call eight seven, seven Janet 58. When you give a

(01:05):
gift of any amount, because we are listener supported radio,
we're going to send you a copy of The Steadfast
Love of the Lord. 877 Janet 58. That's 877 Janet
58 or go online to In the market with Janet Parshall.
Same thing. Scroll down on the page. You'll see the
cover of Sam's book, The Steadfast Love of the Lord,
clicking on make Your Donation and we'll send it to

(01:26):
you again. Listener supported. And when you give a gift,
it keeps us on the air. And what I want
to do in return is keep you growing forward in
your walk with Jesus Christ. By the way, we also
have a group of friends called Partial Partners. Those are
people who give every single month a they get the
truth tool, b they get a weekly newsletter that always
contains some of my writing and an audio piece that
only my partial partners get. I don't set the level

(01:49):
you do if you become a partial partner, but the
idea here is that you're giving on a monthly basis.
So I want you to know how much I appreciate
that as well. So 877 Janet 58 7758 or online
at In the Market with Janet. When you're on the website,
scroll to the bottom, click on the cover of the
book and it'll walk you through the rest. Thanks so much.
And now, with all my heart, I hope you hear

(02:10):
something today that really changes your perspective and makes you
excited about being a follower of Jesus Christ. Enjoy the program!

S2 (02:19):
Here are some of the news headlines we're watching.

S3 (02:21):
The conference was over. The president won a pledge.

S4 (02:23):
Americans worshiping government over God.

S5 (02:26):
Extremely rare safety move by a 17 years.

S4 (02:29):
The Palestinians and Israelis negotiated.

S5 (02:31):
This is not. Hi friends. Welcome to In the Market
with Janet Parshall.

S1 (02:49):
Very happy Thursday to you. To my partial partners. Don't
forget to check your mailbox because today you get the
email of our newsletter, partial partners or people who give
every single month at a level of their own choosing.
They always get the monstrous tool. And then in addition
to that, they get a weekly newsletter that has my
writing and a bit of audio greeting from me to
my partial partners, and they give every month. That's what

(03:10):
makes them a partner. So if you'd like to be one,
just call 877 Janet 58. That's 877 Janet 58 or
go online to in the market with Janet Parshall. If
you're interested in this month's truth tool, it is by
my friend Doctor Sam Storms. It's the steadfast love of God.
A lot of people struggle with this area. They think
that God stops loving them, that he doesn't love them

(03:32):
because of something they've done. And we fail to understand
exactly what the scriptures teach us about the character of
God and His everlasting love for us. We are reminded
in Scripture that nothing can separate us from the love
of God. But oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, does
the enemy love to take that trample in under his
cloven hoof. And to tell you that's not true at all.

(03:52):
Do not listen to that liar. Kick him to the curb,
as Doctor Carl Payne says, and take some time to
get into the word and read the Steadfast Love of
the Lord by Sam Storms 877 Janet 58. A gift
of any size. I'll send it to you as my
way of saying thank you, because we're listener supported or
online at In the Market with Janet Parshall. So again,
you can be a partial partner or just give one

(04:13):
time and get a copy of this month's truth tool.
Well it happened. I held my breath at step one.
The hostages are going to be released. According to the
information out there, all of them are going to be
set free. All of the bodies of those who were
deceased while they were held under this demonic group, known
as Hamas, are going to be returned as well. It

(04:34):
is supposed to happen sometime Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime,
there's all kinds of details that are coming in, including
but not limited to. The president will be winging his
way to the Middle East for a signing ceremony to
adjudicate this agreement, probably somewhere in Egypt, if you want
more on this information. And I certainly would turn to
CBN news. That's where my friend Chris Mitchell is. He

(04:55):
files this story.

S6 (04:57):
Thank you.

S7 (05:00):
Thank you very much, everybody. You did it.

S8 (05:03):
Some of the hostage family celebrated with President Trump over
the phone. Others celebrated in Tel Aviv's hostage square. President
Trump praised the deal on Fox News with Sean Hannity.

S9 (05:15):
So great for Israel, so great for Muslims, for the
Arab countries, and so great for this country, for the
United States of America. And that we could be involved in,
you know, making a deal like this happen because it was,
you know, many years they talked about peace in the
Middle East. This is more than Gaza. This is peace
in the Middle East.

S8 (05:35):
He talked about what's coming.

S9 (05:37):
You'll see Gaza being rebuilt. We're forming a council that
the Council of Peace, we think it's going to be called,
and it's going to be very powerful. And it's going
to really I think to a large extent, it's going
to have a lot to do with the whole Gaza situation,
people are going to be taken care of. It's going

(05:58):
to be a different world. I think, really, the Middle
East came together.

S8 (06:01):
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released this statement with the approval
of the first phase of the plan. All our hostages
will be brought home. This is a diplomatic success and
a national and moral victory for the State of Israel.
From the beginning, I made it clear we will not
rest until all our hostages return and all our goals

(06:22):
are achieved through steadfast resolve, powerful military action, and the
great efforts of our great friend and ally, President Trump.
We have reached this critical turning point. President Trump is
expected to arrive in Israel on Sunday to celebrate the agreement.
The hostages are expected to be released on Monday, an
achievement Israelis and others worldwide have hoped for and prayed

(06:46):
for more than two years. Chris Mitchell, CBN news, Jerusalem.

S1 (06:52):
So by the way, that Peace Council that the president referenced.
That's one of the 20 points in the 20 point plan.
And again, like you don't stop praying. This is Thursday.
This is not supposed to happen until Monday. Now there's
cheering in the streets. There's global reaction to this. And
blessed are the peacemakers. That's something the president actually put
out on his truth social platform. And we should always

(07:14):
applaud attempts for peace. But you're still dealing with a cobra.
You're still dealing with a monster here. So let's pray
that the hostages are, in fact going to be released,
both dead and alive, come Monday. There's global reaction, as
I said before. Here's a report from a France media outlet.
Have a listen.

S10 (07:31):
For two years, much of the world has been waiting
for this moment. The news of a ceasefire deal in
Gaza and promises for the release of the hostages as
Israelis and Palestinians gathered to express their joy in the streets.
Leaders across the globe chimed in. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas
said he hoped the deal would be a prelude to
a permanent political solution. Israel's prime minister expressed hope that

(07:54):
the hostages would all be home. Donald Trump said blessed
are the peacemakers. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose country
played a role in the negotiations, thanked Donald Trump. Qatar
and Egypt for facilitating the deal, which was met in
Sharm el-Sheikh. Among European leaders, Italy's premier called it extraordinary news.

(08:15):
In Arabic, Hebrew, French and English, Emmanuel Macron posted on
X that the deal was a great hope for the hostages,
their families, the Palestinians in Gaza and the entire region
together to iron out a trade deal. Keir Starmer and
Narendra modi also praised the ceasefire.

S11 (08:34):
Of the peace plan in Gaza. This is a moment
of profound relief that will be felt around the world,
but particularly for the hostages, their families and for the
civilian population of Gaza, who have all endured unimaginable suffering

(08:57):
over the last two years.

S12 (08:59):
Ukraine conflict or.

S13 (09:02):
On the issue of Ukraine and Gaza. India supports all
efforts to restore peace through dialogue and diplomacy.

S10 (09:13):
The Chinese foreign minister said, in turn, that China hoped
for a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire, and said his nation
strongly adheres to the principle that Palestinians should govern Palestine.

S1 (09:25):
I do think the interpreter got that wrong. I'm pretty
sure it's not between India and Gaza. It's Israel and Gaza.
And again, yes, we should very much applaud attempts for peace.
Blessed are the peacemakers. That's what Jesus said. But be
praying because this is step one and my conversation earlier
this week with Doctor Michael Redlich. This is significant because
Hamas has always used hostages as a chess piece to barter.

(09:48):
And don't forget, it isn't just the hostages being released
In exchange, Israel has to send back some pretty nefarious
characters back into Gaza. So be praying this might be
a temporary time out. We'll enjoy it while we get it.
But there is always unrest. And remember, the day is
coming when Israel will become a cup of trembling to
all the nations. But in the meantime, you and I

(10:10):
pray for the peace of Jerusalem back after this. Zephaniah
317 tells us God loves us so much that he
breaks out in song over his children. That's why I've
chosen the steadfast love of the Lord as this month's
truth tool. Learn to know the everlasting, unchanging, soul saving

(10:33):
love of God. As for your copy of the Steadfast
Love of the Lord, when you give a gift of
any amount to in the market, call 87758. That's 877858
or go to in the market with Janet Parshall. So
we just talked about the good news that the hostages
are supposed to be released, and you cannot think about
the Middle East without also considering Iran. Well, according to

(10:57):
an article that ran in today's Jerusalem Post, Iran has
said that it supports any initiatives that end the Israeli
invasion of Gaza and the ongoing genocide in occupied Palestine
and protects the nation's rights in quotes. That's from Iran.
So this is how Iran is greeting the news of
the peace deal that the president was able to achieve
for Gaza. Iran's Foreign Ministry has said that it reaffirms

(11:19):
its support for any initiative aimed at ending the war,
and Iran also says that it wants to see the
IDF withdraw from Gaza to see humanitarian aid increase. That,
according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, who said in a statement.
The statement recalled Iran's previous declaration about ending the Gaza
war and highlighted its diplomatic efforts over the past two years,

(11:40):
particularly within the region. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, that's
the OIC and the United Nations to pressure the Israel
regime and its allies to stop the violence and withdraw
from Gaza. That all. Of course, was reported by Iranian
state media. So what does this mean? What move will
Iran make make next? How, in their calculations, does this

(12:02):
figure into everything that's happening? I can't think of a
better person to talk to because that's just the sob story.
The real story is what God is doing in Iran.
I want to get the real story. You go to
Doctor Who's the founder of Iran Alive Ministries, born into
a muslim family in Iran, came to the US after
the revolution in Iran in 79, came to Christ while
getting his PhD in computer engineering. A grad student at

(12:24):
USC while he was there, he comes to faith in Christ,
plants a church in San Jose, California with Muslim converts.
Hundreds of them. Really a very unique church, one of
its kind in the US. But in 2001, 2001, uh,
the Lord led Hormuz to start something brand new. And
he founded Iran Alive Ministries, which takes satellite TV and

(12:45):
reaches the millions of lost and broken people of Iran
and the people in the Middle East 24 over seven.
And he believes, and I just love getting their newsletter.
He believes beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Iran
is being changed one soul at a time. Hormuz. I
can't tell you how much I appreciate our conversations, and
I love to talk the geopolitics because you're brilliant. You're
not only a wonderfully solid theologian, but you're a brilliant

(13:08):
man who understands the world around us. So I immediately,
once this deal broke, want to find out how Iran
would respond? Give me your take on this. What are
you hearing with boots on the ground?

S14 (13:18):
Well, thank you, Janet, for allowing me to share what
you just said. It's Iran. They're admitting defeat without admitting defeat.
I mean, they had they had Hamas, they had Lebanon,
they had Yemen all weaponized and equipped to attack Israel.
And they did it over many, many years. Now that

(13:41):
they are being defeated, they want to save face. They say, oh,
we're pro peace. Yeah. We support anything that's about peace?
They have no power. They have lost in the, uh,
in the area. Um, they are losing. They already have
lost among their own people. So the Iranian government, as
you know, we have to separate Iranian government and Iranian people.

(14:03):
But the Iranian government is a big trouble with the, uh,
sanctions coming back. You know, uh, it's called Snapchat, uh,
snapback mechanism, a snapback mechanism initiated by the UK, France
and Germany, which means that it's going to bring full
sanctions against Iran. So the government is getting more and

(14:23):
more pressured, um, with, uh, outside government and even there
is a there is a word of maybe, maybe Israel
will attack again. Iran and Iranians are thinking. So how
this is going to how it's going to, uh, you know,
affect us. The Iranian government is trying to survive, but
also at the same time, it's trying to save face.

(14:46):
You know, Iran is a shame and honor and shame culture.
They would do anything to save face. For example, when
Israel attacked Iran and destroyed all these bases and killed
all the commanders. Did you know what Iranian supreme leader say?
He declared victory over Israel. So this is they want

(15:08):
to save face toward the world. And but also they
want to say we are in power to the own people,
saying we are not weak, we are strong. Just dare
to come on the streets. You will see our strength.

S1 (15:21):
Yeah. Exactly right. Let me go back to the sanctions point,
because again, my first response is, and I thank you
so much for reminding us again and again and again,
you have to separate the government and the leaders from
the people of Iran. The people of Iran don't want
a theocracy. They don't want that boot on the back
of their neck any more than you and I would
want that. So when you talk about sanctions, my first
thought is always, you're going to punish the people more

(15:44):
than the leaders. And that's my problem. So the US,
by the way, according to Reuters reporting today, is going
to impose sanctions on China refinery and others for Iranian
oil purchases. So that's the commodity that Iran has to sell.
So if you buy from Iran, we're going to punish
the people who are buying the oil from Iran. And
in turn, that ends up, it seems to me, Hormuz
hurting the Iranian people in some way.

S14 (16:07):
Well, uh, you know, the people say many of them,
they're welcoming sanctions. They have been. And the reason is
this they say we are suffering anyway. The government, even
if they get money, if the sanctions are not there,
we're going to live a miserable life. And they did.
So there is a proof, you know, Obama gave them

(16:27):
billions of dollars to the government of Iran when it
was at its weakest. What did the government of Iran do?
And with that money killed its own people when the
sanctions were removed for many years, what did the government
of Iran do? Expanded its terrorism around the world. The
people were suffering. Even during the war, when the sanctions

(16:48):
were removed, Iranians were miserable. They were coming on the
streets and they were being killed. So the people of
Iran are saying it doesn't make much difference to us
if the if the sanctions are gone. The government gets strong.
If the sanctions are there, our government gets weaker. Our
life is going to be miserable no matter what. So
let's go through this. Hopefully the government will calm down.

(17:12):
That's that's the same reason that they're saying we welcome
Israel attacking Iran. Can you believe it? Many Iranians say
we welcome that. Why? Because they said life cannot be
more miserable than it is right now, at least. Maybe
if Israel attacks Iran, the government of Iran will be destroyed.
And maybe we will see freedom. Maybe we'll see democracy.

(17:35):
Maybe we will have a better life. So Iranians are
very realistic and they've experienced it. Sanctions or no sanctions,
Our life is not going to change with no sanctions.
The government is going to get stronger, but we will
stay miserable.

S1 (17:51):
That is such an important point. Now, when you hear
the headlines of the day, remember what hormones just taught
us so that we can look at this conversation about
sanctions in Iran in a clear perspective. In the meantime,
what is happening to our brothers and sisters? The last
time we met with hummus, we were talking about how
we can help people who are fleeing Iran for safety
because record numbers of people are being executed and Christians

(18:13):
are being hunted down. Look at an update right after this.
Doctor Shariat is with us. Love getting updates from him.
He's the founder of Iran Alive Ministries. Love this ministry.
I hope you do too. I've got a link on
my website, Iran Alive, Iran Alive. In full disclosure, I'm
different because I know about this ministry. You know, like

(18:35):
so many of us, I take my temperature reading on
what we should be thinking about a particular nation, particularly
if it's declared that we're the Great Satan. Exactly how
we should be thinking about that country. But to think
of Iran as a mission field. Thank you for reorientating
my thinking, and for the good news stories that you
tell us on a regular basis, that there is such
an openness now to the gospel. So through Iran Alive Ministries,

(18:58):
that gospel is beamed in 24 over seven and people
are coming to the Lord no matter what the headlines
of the day are, regardless of what the UN believes
or wants, regardless of sanctions that might be imposed. The
gospel changes everything and everyone. And the last time we
got together, we talked about how we could help exiled
leaders find safety. Can you give me an update on

(19:20):
that first? How is that going? And is the situation
as critical now in terms of arrests and hunting down
Christians as it was last month when we talked?

S14 (19:31):
Yes. These leaders are in trouble. Many of our leaders
are inside the country, but some of them had fled Iran,
and they're in Turkey and now the government of Turkey
is sending them back. The government of Iran knows these people.
They know that these people are serving with me. They
know because their faces have been shown on TV. And

(19:54):
now that the Turkish government wants to send want to
send them back, their lives is indefinitely in danger. Arrest,
torture and maybe even execution. So we are helping these leaders.
Are our leaders in Turkey find a safe place, maybe
in Europe, European countries or Canada. And thank you for

(20:18):
bringing that up last week. Last month I talked about
it that many people generously give and we saved four
of them. And the fifth one is on on her way.
And there are several other people, about 4 or 5
more in line to be helped. So I appreciate you
bringing it up. This is saving the leaders. It's saving

(20:41):
our leaders, and I appreciate that.

S1 (20:43):
Well, let me give the website again so that there
are people waiting can be helped as well just by
making it real easy. Iran alive. You're going to be
able to see on the website a place where you
can click on to help those leaders, who's now that
we talk about the persecuted church all the time, this
is the persecuted church, okay? A muslim dominated country like
Turkey is kicking them out, knowing full well that if

(21:04):
they go back into Iran, the government knows who they are,
they're going to hunt them down and who knows what
will happen. And so the idea now is to put
them in protective places until this passes, until they can
go back and remember what Iran or Live Ministry does,
is it trains people in Iran to be brothers and sisters,
to train others. So when the leaders are taken out,

(21:25):
that's kind of like the shepherd for the flocks that
are there. So they very much need to be protected.
So if you are prayerfully considering helping, and I'm thrilled
that so many of you friends did respond the last time,
prayerfully consider that something might be doing again. Iran. Livorno. Iran. Livorno.
So talk to me again about what you're hearing. People
are still receiving the Word of God, and they're still

(21:48):
open to hearing the gospel on a regular basis, even
though ever since there was the attack in Iran going
after the nuclear facilities and like so many and I
stood in opposition to the president on this one, he said,
we're not working for a regime change. I thought, I am.
I would love for there to be a regime change
in Iran. Didn't happen. We saw the sunlight. We thought
maybe there would be this organic movement of the people

(22:10):
to be able to overthrow, know they're well entrenched and
they're seated with super glue in their seats and they're
they're Hormuz for theological reasons. They are trying to foment
this idea of bringing about the sort of apocalyptic end
where the Mahdi will make his appearance. So they're not
going to give this up lightly or ever.

S14 (22:30):
Oh, that's a part of the theology of Shiite Islam. Yeah. Mahdi,
that that he will come back. You know, their theology
Ology says that Maddie comes back when Islam is taking
over the world by force, by war and the war
and the world and stops them, reacts to them, and

(22:52):
they're being defeated. And Maddie comes. So with that theology,
it encourages them to start wars, to go forward because
they know if they lose, Maddie will come and help
them to win the world. They have a mandate, a
mandate to take over the world. And another part of
their theology is this the only way a muslim can

(23:14):
go to heaven is to kill and be killed for
the cause of Islam. So when they have a nuclear
bomb and that's why they're pursuing nuclear bomb, because they
believe when they have a nuclear bomb, they're going to
use it against Israel. And they think this is a
great deal. One of their clerics said that. What a
great deal. Once we have the nuclear bomb, We're going

(23:38):
to attack Israel. We are going to kill 1 million
of them in one day. And of course, they're going
to retaliate with another nuclear bomb. And 1 million of
us are going to be killed in one day. But, hey,
what it what a deal. 1 million of them go
to hell and 1 million of us go to heaven.

(23:59):
See the theology. The Islamic theology doesn't stop them from
violence or even using nuclear bomb. Actually, it encourages them.
That's why Islam is so dangerous to the world. And
Iranian government has been supporting terrorism around the world, and
they're just looking to have a nuclear bomb to do

(24:20):
a greatest terrorist act in the world. We need to
pray against that. We need to weaken the Iranian government,
and we need to change the Iranian government.

S1 (24:29):
Amen and amen. Hormones. I love the way you give
us very, very specific prayer requests. So you just got
a bunch of them about the nation of Iran. Pray
for wisdom and protection for our brothers and sisters in Iran.
They come to faith in Christ exactly the same way
we do, but we don't necessarily sign our death warrants.
They might be. If you feel led to help these

(24:50):
exiled leaders find safety, please Iran alive.org Iran alive. This
is a very tangible, hands on way. You can protect
a brother or a sister who's come to faith in Christ,
and then continue to pray for peace in that part
of the world. And the only way things are changing
is when the false Messiah is replaced with Jesus Christ,

(25:10):
the real Messiah. Pray for real change in Iran. Thank
you as always, blessings back after this. When we tackle
tough issues on in the market, do you find yourself
nodding in agreement? Then why not take the next step
today and become a partial partner? Your monthly gift will

(25:30):
help to keep us on the air, and you'll receive
exclusive behind the scenes resources directly from me, like a
transcript of my weekly commentary and exclusive weekly audio briefing
and more. Become one of our partial partners today by
calling 877 Janet, 58, or go online to in the
market with Janet Parshall. Okay. Time to get out your
prayer list because we're going to lengthen them. I'm going

(25:52):
to say in full disclosure what I say every time
I have been changed by this precious woman, Karen Cavell.
Like so many of you, I wanted to pick up
a rock and throw it at Hollywood because I thought,
can anything good come out of Hollywood taking a verse
out of Scripture and changing it a bit? And I,
like so many, looked at Hollywood as Sodom and Gomorrah,
which is interesting because I am one of those creative people.

(26:12):
My background is in the arts, and you would have
thought I would have had a different perspective on this,
that I would have recognized that a creative God makes
creative children who make creations that reflect him in the
work that they do. And he's not a father who frustrates.
So therefore it follows suit, does it not that he
would draw his children into a world where creative arts
are practiced. Makes sense, but it's tough. It's particularly tough

(26:34):
if you follow Jesus, because somewhere along the way, and
if you want to read a good book about this,
read hidden Art by Edith Schafer. Doctor Francis Schafer's wife.
She'll talk to you about this. It's a fabulous study
of art history, and it follows the track of when
we turn our back on God. What happens in the arts? Well,
the only way we can turn that around is when
people come to faith in Jesus Christ. Your worldview, your
creative abilities change when you come into a personal relationship

(26:56):
with Jesus Christ. So the gentle, caring, constant teaching of
Karen Cavell taught me to look at Hollywood not as
Sodom and Gomorrah, but as Nineveh, and to pray for
revival and to understand that God doesn't draw a ring
about Hollywood and say, I'll be anywhere but here. All
is mine, he said. And he puts his children everywhere
to influence and occupy, and he's not willing that any

(27:17):
should perish. But all would come to redemption, a repentance
through Jesus Christ. So I appreciate the work of the
Hollywood Prayer Network. It is growing and growing and growing.
It is a global prayer movement. It started out with Karen, who,
as she says in her own testimony, found herself with
her feet in two different worlds. She was someone who
had all the cards, all the cards, all the. The

(27:38):
gravitas you needed in Hollywood, knew everything about directing, knew
everything about story writing. But she was also a follower
of Jesus. And as she said before this was birthed,
the church couldn't stand Hollywood. The Hollywood couldn't stand the church.
And so the two shall never meet, right? Karen said, no,
we can build a bridge through prayer. And so it
has exploded since then. And now it is a global

(27:59):
network of people praying all over the world for what's
going on for the greatest group of influencers in the world.
I just love the Hollywood Prayer Network. Twice a month
they send out a call sheet. If you're in the biz,
call sheet means you got to show up on the
set that day. If your name's not on the call sheet,
you get the day off. If you're there, you show up.
You got work to do. I love it because it's
a double entendre for you and me, where to show

(28:19):
up and start praying for the people in this group
of influencers. Karen, thank you so much, boy. I have
so many questions to ask you about the most recent
call sheets that come out there. So, so many things.
First of all, talk to me about And I loved
something you wrote back in September. So I'm going to
hearken back to a September 1st where you talked about
the unknown usher. I love that talk to our friends

(28:41):
why this was put in the newsletter, and who was
this unknown usher, and what impact did he have on
the world?

S15 (28:48):
Oh my gosh, it is so much fun to find
people who are making a difference, but nobody knows it.
You know, we I think when we get to heaven,
we are going to be so surprised at the number
of people that have actually made an eternal difference in
the world and nobody knows it. And that is so
much fun to me. So the unknown usher is a
guy who just shows up and and goes to um,

(29:16):
is ushers at events and prays for people and cares
for them and meets them and makes a difference in
their lives and looks at himself as a missionary. And
we have people in our industry who don't aren't known.
Everybody looks at all the famous people who go to work.
They care about others, their sharing their faith, their bringing

(29:38):
people to, uh, a relationship with Jesus. And they're just
quiet about it, and they're not waving flags and teaching seminars.
And so my message is always, don't assume there aren't
Christians in Hollywood. There are people all over this industry
who are actually making a difference. And they want to

(29:58):
share Jesus, and they're touching people's hearts, but they don't
get the celebrity approach. They don't get known. And yet
they're all over the world, including Hollywood.

S1 (30:10):
Yeah. And you've you've used as a springboard the example
of the Unknown Usher, an unknown tent revival usher who
helped a teenager by the name of Billy Graham find
the Lord. And you talk about, I mean, so. So
his name is emblazoned in lights. But think how the
world would be different if Billy hadn't been led to
the Lord, right?

S15 (30:29):
Exactly. And all he was doing was volunteering at an
event and reached out to the people, and he saw
young kids that he wanted to talk to, and he
invited them in, and he found a seat for them,
and he let them feel valued. And one was Billy Graham,
who life changed in that tent revival. And that's what

(30:49):
we find at the Academy Awards, at the Grammys, at events,
we find people that just feel like the Lord has
called them there. They want to love people and help them,
and they're making an eternal difference. And we have no idea.
So Billy Graham gets famous. But he wouldn't be there
if it wasn't for that usher in the tent revival.

S1 (31:07):
Yeah, exactly. Well, what a wonderful story. And what a
great reminder. Tell me about your app. Hollywood Prayer Network
has a phone app. Tell me about it.

S15 (31:14):
Oh, we love it. It's so much fun. It's a
free app. It gives everything that's going on around the world.
With the Hollywood Prayer Network, we have all of our
global local chapters listed. We have 170 chapters in 42 countries.
We have all the events going on in Hollywood. If
you're in the LA area and you want to join
an event, we have the ability to get a prayer partner.

(31:36):
If you're an intercessor and you'd love to pray for
a Christian in Hollywood, you just go on the app
and click on Prayer Partners, and you can sign up
to be an intercessor and be assigned one. Media missionary
men with men, women with women. We have all of
our local vocational groups. If you're a comedian, if you're
a dancer, if you're a filmmaker, a director, a producer

(31:59):
in animation, you can get involved in a in a
in-person group to build community of like minded people. We
have a parents prayer team where parents of grown kids
or kids of any age are working in the industry.
The parents send their prayer requests into an email with
each other, and they all pray for each other's kids.
Some of the kids are 50 years old. The parents

(32:21):
are praying for. They're not giving up. And so we
just we got the ability to put everything together in
this app, and it's so much fun for us and
just so easy. So that around the world, people can
be connected in an easy way.

S1 (32:39):
Wow. So just go wherever you find apps, look for
the Hollywood Prayer Network, download it on your phone. Right.

S15 (32:44):
That's it. Any app store, just Hollywood Prayer Network and
it'll pull up and it's free.

S1 (32:48):
Excellent. Wow. All right, so tell me. And I know
it's after the fact, but sometimes that's where we get
the better reports. There was actually a faith, sex and
marriage conference that took place, and you were very much
behind it. It was the house of kingdom marriage. Talk
to me about this.

S15 (33:04):
Yes. The house of kingdom marriage is an off. It's
a ministry of Hollywood Prayer network. It's single people who
love the Lord and are frustrated that it's such a
spiritual battle in our city to find a spouse. And
then once you find a spouse, it's such a spiritual
battle to keep good marriages. And so they came to

(33:25):
me and said, can we focus on prayer? This is
a spiritual issue that young Christians, or even middle aged
Christians are not finding each other. So we started this, um,
once a month. Having married couples from solid marriages in Hollywood,
pray for singles who want to get married. And that
has been such a success that a couple of weeks

(33:47):
ago we had a big conference and about 200 people came.
Mostly all single men and women, and had a woman
and her husband. Mia Fields is a singer songwriter who
gave a testimony of her own struggle with dating, um,
a few years ago, and it went viral. And she's
now being asked to go all over the country to

(34:08):
tell her story. And we had her and her husband
speak to our group, and it was so encouraging. And
then we had prayer for everybody, one on one prayer
and group prayer. And we're just getting these people who
want to be married serious about turning to the Lord, praying,
thanking him for what he's going to do, and we

(34:28):
believe we're breaking through the spiritual battle of that.

S1 (34:31):
Wow. And what a how in tune could you be, Karen,
to understand that this is such a struggle? It's a
struggle always. But in Hollywood, which trades in this business, right,
where marriages are not loaned to long to last. You
just thought about Keith Urban and what's her face and
forget exactly Nicole Kidman? Yes, exactly. After 19 years. So
it is hard to keep a marriage together. And you

(34:53):
had a conference and you had people who came and
they were encouraged, which was wonderful. You also had an
award and an Emmy Award, an Emmy writing journalist, rather,
and an actor, producer and a singer. So you literally
pull people out of the industry, committed to Christ, who
want to be able to teach. And you had that
kind of a response. That's the kind of stuff we
don't get to hear, because all of the entertainment shows
out there want to go to the razzmatazz, the sizzle

(35:16):
and the failures. They don't talk about this kind of stuff,
which is why our conversations, I think, are so important.

S15 (35:21):
It is it is important. And one of the things
that you did mention our speakers were Incredible. We had
a a known singer songwriter. We had a known Ted Chen.
He's a known journalist. And then we had Hiram Murray,
who is a very successful actor, and they all had
stories of how God was faithful. It wasn't their timing,

(35:43):
it wasn't their calendar the way they wanted it to go.
But God did better and beyond what they could have imagined.
And 200 people heard this. They got hope and they
got encouragement and they got prayer. And that's all we
can do. We can offer spiritual growth and a hope
that will not disappoint people in Hollywood.

S1 (36:02):
Wow. Now I'm going to ask because a lot of
people are going to wonder if they weren't out in
your neck of the woods and couldn't be there on Saturday,
September 27th for this event. Will any of this ever
be put online for other people who are creative, who
are saying, boy, I would have been there had I known,
or could I get there?

S15 (36:18):
Well, honestly, we would love to. But this one wasn't
because it was. It got into some pretty personal things.
It was about faith, sex and marriage. And so we
we had personal conversations that we just decided was we
wanted the speakers to feel comfortable opening up. And so
we told them we couldn't record it. But we do
a lot. We're going to have events coming up where

(36:40):
we do live streaming, or we do follow up with
video recording of it. So we try to do that
as much as possible.

S1 (36:47):
That, my friends, is a good reason for you to
get that app. So download the app today. Any app store,
the Hollywood Prayer Network app free and you won't miss
a single event. And when they do open up, maybe
you'll find out whether or not there's a live streaming
aspect to it as well. There's more because these come
out twice a month. So we're going to talk about
some of those very specific prayer requests and praises when

(37:07):
we return with Karen Cavell, who is the founder, the woman,
the prayer warrior behind the Hollywood Prayer Network back after this.
What a privilege to spend time with Karen Cavell, founding
director of the Hollywood Prayer Network. And it's a real

(37:28):
easy website, Hollywood Prayer Network with lots of information there
and you can learn about the events. But again, this
app that they've got is one year old. I really
recommend it to you if this is you, if this
is where you live, if you are creative and you
experience some of the challenges and the frustrations that Karen
was talking about, you can be a part of this
even if you're not. Do you believe in the power

(37:49):
of prayer? Do you think that people whom God has
called into this industry need a prayer covering? Absolutely. Do
you think people in the industry who are big names
and think that their whole world revolves, revolves around getting
a statue about yay big made out of gold? No,
that isn't it. They need Jesus and that is an
open mission field. In fact, talking about needing Jesus, I

(38:10):
was sad because I knew his background to read about
the death of Brad Pitt's mom. She was a very
committed Christian, was she not?

S15 (38:18):
Yes, she was and had a great influence on him.
And he was brokenhearted. And that's why we want people
to know. You don't know the background that people come from.
And here Brad has come from a really oh, he
loved his mom solid Christian woman. And so we just
we want people to pray and realize people are one
step away from Jesus sometimes and you just don't know it.

(38:40):
And so this is a reminder to pray for he
and his family.

S1 (38:44):
Yeah, I'm so glad. And on that same note, and
I'm none of this is I know it wouldn't be
in the Prayer Network unless you felt comfortable sharing it.
So I was touched and understanding that there were some
struggles going on in the life of Rick Springfield. And
yet there was a friend that reached out to you
and said, he needs prayer. Tell us more about that.

S15 (39:04):
Yes, we have friends that are walk alongside different celebrities,
different singers, filmmakers, and this friend reached out and literally said,
I really care about him. I've been spending time with
him and he very, very careful and closed enclosed about
about his life. Because as a celebrity, it's more of

(39:25):
a curse than a blessing. You're afraid to say anything
to anybody. But in knowing us, he said, if you
can get your network to pray for him, it can
make an eternal difference. And that that's what makes me
so happy to say people trust us to know our
heart is not to exploit anybody, to not take advantage
of anybody, but to pray that God will come in

(39:47):
and fill their life up with him, his love and
hope and joy and everything he has to offer.

S1 (39:52):
Exactly. Um, you put in the call sheets that apparently,
and this was public knowledge. He was talking at the
concert about his depression and his journey with drugs. He
was drinking during the performance. And that's one of the
reasons why the friend said, reach out. And apparently Rick
has said, I'm not adverse to anything that helps me
be happier and a better person. I could use some
help in that area. I'm always searching. Well, let's hope

(40:14):
his search leads him to the foot of the cross.
And would you have thought to. I'm going to ask
my friends. Would you have thought to pray for Rick Springfield.
I wouldn't, and that's one of the things that the
prayer sheet does, the call sheet does is it brings
to mind opportunities to say, oh yeah, I never thought about, hey,
listen to their music. I watch their movies, pray for them.
I never thought about that before. And that's why I
love what you do through the Hollywood Prayer Network. So

(40:37):
thank you for that. Um, talk to me about, well,
it's just the precious work that you do regularly. You
always talk about industry stuff that's important, where a lot
of people don't necessarily connect the dots but fail to
understand the impact. So when Legendary Pictures and they've got
that kind of Celtic logo that comes up at the
beginning of films when they make a deal with Paramount,
this is a big deal in terms of business. Talk

(40:58):
to me about this and again, why and how should
we be praying?

S15 (41:02):
Well, there are a lot of mergers. There are a
lot of acquisitions of companies. There's a lot of people,
especially at this time in the industry, which is actually
a very bad time financially. Um, we there are a
lot of companies merging, and what happens that affects everybody is,
first of all, the tone of the programming. For instance,
Universal Studios, somebody owns them. The tone, the type of

(41:25):
programming that comes after that because of a new owner,
impacts the world. It also takes away a lot of
jobs because when people buy other companies, they want their
own people coming in and so they get rid of
the others. And so we have we call ourselves a
very nomadic industry because people are are coming in and

(41:46):
out and moving through and looking for more grass for
their cattle to eat. You know, I mean, it just keeps,
keeps moving. But every merger, every acquisition does impact the world.
And so we want people to know about it and
not just think about celebrities, but to think about the
business behind it and how that that changes actual programming

(42:07):
that they're going to get. Their movies will be different.
The TV shows will look different because of whoever the
owner is of the company creating them.

S1 (42:15):
Yeah, exactly. Well, let me give you a perfect example
on this. That's why Netflix is floundering right now, because
they've put out some pretty horrific stuff aimed at kids
and preschool kids that deal with sex and transgenderism. And
so with the advent of social platforms, all it takes
is for one person to say, I'm canceling and another
person does it and another person does it. But there's

(42:36):
a shift now. And apparently Netflix stock tanked after the
word got out because little clips of what was being
aired got posted by people who might not ordinarily see
these programs. And I thought to myself, it isn't just content,
it's leadership. Who sits on your board, who made the
decision to go in this kind of direction as a
result of that, you know, but you taught me a
long time ago, and this is the interesting tension. It's

(42:58):
an entertainment industry, but it's a business first, last and
always business. And you told me business. Exactly. But you
said it's the one area of business where sometimes worldview
will trump the business aspects of it. We don't care.
This is my worldview and I'm going to put it
out there regardless. So how does an entity like Netflix
deal with the fact that their stink, their stock tanks

(43:19):
when they decide to take a hard left turn to
the culture. And moms and dads are going, well, why
should I subscribe to you? You're trying to tell my
child that Strawberry Shortcake now has a transgender character? I
don't want that.

S15 (43:30):
I don't want that. But Netflix did something they didn't realize.
They hired a friend of ours who is a committed
believer to run all of their feature films he started
last year. He's starting to shift the tone and the
feel and the content of the feature films. So while
they're floundering in their in their streaming and their TV area,

(43:52):
there is a solid Christian man at the top of
the features and he is starting to have an impact.
So if people can have more Christians in leadership positions,
the worldview will change the type of content.

S1 (44:05):
Now see, you wouldn't know that friends, if you weren't
connected to the Hollywood Prayer Network with Karen Cavell, I
wouldn't have known that. That is, in the words of
Paul Harvey, that great Radio Hall of Famer. The rest
of the story, you change the leadership. Isn't it interesting
how the perspective and the direction of that platform begins
to change as well? So there's another takeaway for your
prayer list. Pray specifically that God might bring more committed

(44:28):
believers into leadership to help guide and direct these companies.
And so they would move toward family friendly ideas in
their creativity. You don't have to be gross to be
able to bring in a dollar, by the way. In fact,
the lesson they failed to learn over and over and
over again is why family films, PG rated films end
up doing better at the box office than other films.
So I don't know. It's amazing. Karen. Thank you. I

(44:48):
have a million questions to ask you about the call sheet.
I just got to tell my friends this if you
don't get the call sheet, you are missing so much.
I really and truly hope that you will be a
part of this global prayer movement. They have chapters now
all over the globe. They have prayer calls on a
regular basis. They've got calls on Mondays. They got calls
on Friday. They do have other events that you can
be a part of. All of that can be found

(45:10):
on the website. Real easy peasy Hollywood Prayer Network. Thanks, friends.
We'll see you next time.
