Today I want to talk about anarticle that I came across
talking about a low judgmentzone needed to manage the cycle

(00:28):
social needs of breast cancersurvivors.
This article spoke to mebecause it really talked about
depression and anxiety and theability and the need to
acknowledge that.
Dr Anne Blase is a professor inthe division of hematology and
oncology at the University ofMinnesota and she's also the
director of screening, prevention, etiology and cancer

(00:49):
survivorship, which is calledthe SPECS program, and she
really highlights the importanceto document depression, anxiety
and also to acknowledge thatfor some people there is a post
stress disorder from theirtreatment, the idea of
recurrence, the idea that all ofthis can happen once again.
She also gave an example of ayoung woman she was only in her

(01:12):
40s who had already gone throughchemotherapy, surgery and
radiation, went on anti estrogentreatment, had a reaction to
medication and then had to beput off of that.
There's so much that goesthrough this.
It's not just a ribbon, it'snot just that we're going to
come together.
There's an emotional component, and we know that emotional

(01:33):
needs also need to be met, because it has an effect on the
body.
How many of us are emotionaleaters or emotional non eaters?
Right, we know that all ofthese components are together
and it's something we shouldfocus on ourselves and it's
something we can focus on oneanother with.
If you feel that you haveanxiety, stress or anything that

(01:54):
you want to just talk about, Iencourage you to reach out to
find a support group or to finda one on one time for you to
connect with someone, to revealand dig deep into this traumatic
event of your life.
Just because it's commondoesn't mean it's not a big deal
.
So, thank you for your time.
