When Jenny Fielding faced the monumental task of healing, she discovered the power of pausing. As a physiotherapist intimately familiar with the recovery process, Jenny shares her insights on the art of giving oneself the grace to just be in this week's heartfelt episode.  I review her article as it weaves through the importance of self-care, especially when life's storms, like cancer, challenge us.  I explore the often neglected practice of setting realistic goals and the courage it takes to occasionally hang up our 'super person capes.' This is an open invitation to anyone navigating the tumultuous seas of health and healing, seeking a beacon of community and understanding.

Remember, there's a special gift waiting for you as a token of our shared journey in this nurturing community.

Special Gift for you!

Here is Jenny's article.

Bettina Brown (00:08):
Welcome to this In the Rising podcast short.
This podcast is a companion onyour journey through cancer,
offering support, insights and acommunity for fighters and the
incredible families who stand bythem.
So major life events givepeople the opportunity to stop
and reevaluate what's importantto them.
Sometimes we don't achieve thembecause we can berate ourselves

(00:31):
or we get angry, but none ofthat is really healthy or at all
conducive to healing.
So Jenny Fielding, aphysiotherapist basically a
physical therapist outside theUS, realized this herself and
she realized that she needed tostop, breathe, not schedule, not

(00:52):
set unrealistic goals, juststop, whether realistically.
This is often very difficult, but allowing yourself to do
nothing can give you theopportunity to be something and
someone where being and thepresence of being is prioritized
overdoing.

(01:13):
So what are ways that we canstop and reevaluate what can be
done so we can take the time andget a routine a cup of coffee
or tea or any moment that isavailable to you where it's
silent, or some gentle music tojust be and when you're in this
time, find out what your why isfor absolutely everything that

(01:36):
you do that is important.
So we focus a lot on the what, but from time to time we need to
focus on why and the why behindit and be realistic and honest
with yourself.
What is most feasible for you,and realizing that what is
feasible can be changing fromweek to week, and it can change

(01:59):
from season to season, andsometimes the greatest act of
courage that we can do is totake off that super person cape
who thinks that we can doabsolutely everything all the
time for everyone minusourselves, because without us,
without our own cup overflowing,we have so little to give an

(02:21):
offer.
So tune in on Tuesdays for anempowering journey through
topics that touch your heartrevolving cancer and that
journey, such as relationships, health, self care and mindset
and also join us for all ofthese podcasts to inspire you,
challenge you and enrich yourlife and have a special gift for
you below, and let's build oneanother up.
