This week, we're taking a pause to celebrate Memorial Day and honor those who have served.

Many people often think of Memorial Day as the start of summer, but I encourage everyone to take a moment to remember those who've sacrificed themselves for our freedom in the United States.

While Veterans Day honors both living and deceased veterans, Memorial Day is also an appropriate time to thank everyone who has served. We've had a few veteran guests on the show thus far, including:

I recommend giving their episodes a listen and reaching out to them to thank them for their service. Happy Memorial Day to you and your family!

(00:05):
Welcome to In The Thick of It.
I'm your host, Scott Hollrah.
All right, this week we're doing something a little bit different for In The Thick of It.
Given that this is a holiday and a very, very special and important holiday,
we're going to actually kind of take a pause from putting out a new episode.

(00:27):
And so what I just ask that everybody who's listening would do is
take some time to reflect on what Memorial Day is actually about.
And most of us, myself included, tend to think about it as the start to summer.
It's the time to get in the pool.
If you're far enough south, it's the time to have that backyard barbecue.

(00:48):
But what Memorial Day is really about is honoring those who have fallen
in the act of preserving our freedom.
And it's because of our freedom that we get to do this podcast.
It's because of our freedom that we get to start businesses and these incredible ventures.
And so freedom isn't free.

(01:09):
And we are so grateful for those who have shed their blood and preserved
this great nation that we get to be a part of.
So please take some time to really ponder that sacrifice.
And while Veterans Day is the day that we honor those who have served, that are still with us,
I think it's appropriate on a day like today to take some time to honor and thank them.

(01:33):
And so small way of doing that.
Maybe if you're really, really in the mood to listen to a great podcast, go back and check
out some of our previous episodes where we've had people who have gotten out of active duty.
We've got people that are still serving in the reserves or have served in the reserves.
And so three that come to mind, Ahmed Qureshi.

(01:56):
His episode came out just a couple of weeks ago,
Clayton Flurry from last fall and in the last couple of months, Drew Murr.
So go, go check those out.
Hit those guys on LinkedIn.
Thank them for their service, and enjoy the Memorial Day.
God bless America.
