(00:01):
But his name is a really funnyguy and this is his podcast in the
Rise and Ride podcast letter. Heyeverybody thinks for tuning in. It's in

(00:22):
the right podcast episode seventy one, doing a solo one. It's been a
while. Yeah, it's probably beensince July, I think since I've recorded
one of these. Uh. Idecided to take the month of August off
from comedy and everything, and itwasn't so bad. Didn't do any shows

(00:50):
anything like that. Didn't accord anypodcasts obviously, but uh, yeah,
that's been going on since my lastrecording, which was at the end of
June. End of July. Soundssounds right. I went to Tucson,

(01:10):
performed at Laughs out there and Tucson, I got to perform with a couple
of my buddies, Steve McGrew andReys Mooney's and uh a friend from Albuquerque,
Anthony almon Zar, did a guestspot as well. Uh sounds cool.
I gotta hang out with those guysfor a couple of days. Do
some shows, really good shows.I had a couple of clips to this

(01:34):
podcast here. I had a coupleof fun crowd work episodes happened. I
think they might have been at thesame show even maybe not. I don't
know, it was a long timeago. Well white fuck, I don't

(01:57):
know, man, fine ship, that's good. Where does tacklers doing?
Harry? I don't you gonna wherehis wall? Little book on tape though,

(02:21):
that's pretty funny. The silent forlike forty minutes and the visag there
he is, Hey, that's wherehe goes. He's white, so yeah,

(02:46):
he's hight. What more alcohol?Okay? Good? Yeah? Do
what is thats you're saying? Peopleneed more alcohol to find me? Funny?
I won't know if that's how itis with you with your lips.

(03:14):
Yeah, tea sounds always great.Love going there, great club, great
crowds. Hoping to get back theresoon. I also gotta hang out with
my friend Jessica and make some prankcalls with her nose always it's always a
fun time. I'm still twelve yearsold making prank calls. Yeah. So

(03:35):
after that, I came back home, took the month of August off.
My sister had surgery, so it'skind of looking after her, making sure
she was okay and stuff like that. And she's doing a lot better now.
She still has some pain. Shehad to she had part of her
intestines removed and something on her blackor something gross. I want to talk

(04:00):
about it. Yeah, she's doinga lot better now, which is great.
So I took August off. Myfirst show back was in September fourteenth
or something like that. It's kindof nervous. I was gonna be Rusty's.
I had to do a full thirtyminute set. It's at this at

(04:25):
this bar, it was like likethis little I guess it's like a pot
dispensary place where you can actually hangout and smoke as well. And I
don't know if you know this, but I have asthma and smoke kind of
messes with me sometimes. So Iactually had to sit in the other room

(04:46):
for most of the show, soI didn't get to watch a lot of
it, but just walking through thatroom when I got there, like I
think I got high just from walkingthrough. So it's pretty stunned by the
time I got on stage. Didn'tsmoke anything. But it ended up being
a good shows, you know, pretty solid thirty and a lot of people

(05:06):
were pretty stone, so, youknow, some delayed laughter here and there,
but overall it was a fun show. That same week, man,
I had a lot of fun showsthat it happened in September. So the
following Monday, my buddy Rusty Rutherfordasked me if I would do shared a

(05:31):
gig with him and another comic namedTierney Staley, And so we basically got
paid to hang out on the golfcourse all day and heckle golfers while they
were trying to golf. Sounded likea really fun gig at first, and
then and it was a fun gigoverall. Got to hang out with those

(05:54):
guys all day and you know, laughed a lot and stuff, But it
was harder than I think thought itwas going to be like, you know,
talking shit to your friends and stufflike that, or people in the
crowd. You know, that's prettyeasy, but you're basically just like talking
shit about people's appearances when they comeup to golf, and I don't know,

(06:15):
it's, uh, it's not funto do obviously. You know,
fat guy, You're gonna make fatjokes and stuff like that. So so
that part wasn't as fun. Buta lot of them were good sports,
so that, you know, thatmade it a lot easier. But uh,
I didn't come up with anything forthe women. You know, because,

(06:38):
like I said, you do thejokes based on their appearance, and
you don't want to I don't wantto talk about any of the ladies that
were there. Yeah, it was. It was pretty fun though. It
was you know, most of thepeople took it pretty well. There are
a couple of douchebags here and there, but nothing really bad. But yeah,

(07:00):
the worst part is probably getting upat five in the morning for that.
So the event started at like,we got there at like seven.
I think it ran from eight o'clocktill three ish, I don't know,
golfing in a couple of nights afterthat, I gotta gotta perform at the

(07:25):
Albuquerque Funny Fiesta, which is Albuquerque'son the comedy festival, and they gotta
perform there. It's my first timeperforming at that. I don't know how
many years they've been doing it,but first time sounds fun. Little set
at dry Heat Comedy Club, SoThursday night I had a really solid lineup,

(07:47):
so it's cool. I wish Iwould have gotta stick around and watch
some other shows for the festival, but I had to fly out to Phoenix
Friday morning. Did a Stir Crazycomedy club in Glendale with my buddy Tim
Gather. That's a fun, funroom. It's right there in the West

(08:09):
Gate area, which is nice.I got one really weird, like the
I think it was the first showFriday. Early show was just weird and
like, I don't know, theydidn't really laugh at anything, which makes
it pretty difficult to have fun atall. But the rest week was pretty

(08:31):
good. I mean there was kindof light crowds if I remember right,
it's been a while already, youknow, almost a month. But no,
they were they were fun. Igot to ride in a Tesla for
the first time. Well it's mysecond time. I rode in an uber
to the airport in a Tesla. But the opener, uh god, it

(08:54):
just forgot his name. Uh greatdude too. He he had a Tesla
and he you know, he's makingthat opener money so he can afford a
tesla. So he picked us upSaturday night to go to the show.
He's like just showing us how muchpower it add and how fast it can

(09:16):
go and like a short amount oftime. So just in this little stretch
of road by from the hotel beforewe got to the main road. Uh,
I don't know how fast he went, but holy shit, I think
it's pretty powerful. It's pretty cool. I don't know, that was pretty

(09:41):
cool. I just can't imagine likegoing on the Highway with that thing,
like, I don't know. Yeah, Glendale was a good time. Tom
runs a really good club there. If you have a chance to work it
or go there and catch a show, definitely check it out. And then

(10:03):
after Phoenix, me and Tim flewback to we flew out to La went
and stayed with him for a fewdays so we can film some videos and
do some writing and things like that. And he ended up getting me a
gig on Monday nights and Torrents nottoo far from his house at a venue

(10:26):
called The End, And yeah, that was a really cool venue. I've
done a decent amount of shows inLA and like in the LA area,
that's probably my favorite one I've everdone. The other ones I've done,

(10:48):
I don't know. I did theDining Bar once and no one's Like it
was really tiny and there's no onethere, so it was I don't know,
it's kind of wame. I didSala's Comedy Whole a couple of times
and that was pretty fun. Wehad a decent crowd, but yeah,
this one was really good. Itwas a good, good crowd. Probably

(11:09):
seats about one hundred or so,and I don't I don't think they had
a hundred that night, but itwas pretty pretty full. And it's actually
a little nervous because they had aI mean, the whole lineup was like
you know, at the beginning ofthe show, it was all nationally touring
headliners, you know what I mean. And I had to follow Tim,

(11:30):
which I've never done before because Iusually opened for him, and so that
was that was different. But Idid well. They had a good set
and I actually wrote a joke.Me and Tim were hanging out in Glendale
and I wrote a joke and Igave it to him because it kind of
fits in his set. He triedit out and I got a good laugh,

(11:54):
so I was cool, you gota sent went well. People there
were super cool. Hopefully I goback and do another set there sometimes.
Yeah, they have shows every Monday. I mean, they do open mics
here in there, but I thinkthe Monday night is usually a booked showcase.

(12:15):
So they've got it's pretty solid.Comics. Ornie Adams was headlining the
week after I was gonna be thereand Tim opened for Jeremy Piven there once.
Tim even did a headline show thereon a Saturday night a few weeks
ago. Sounds cool. Then wefilmed the video and I think it's gonna

(12:41):
be pretty funny. We're gonna releasethat. Well, it's almost wrestling season,
so our podcast is starting back upStop styling podcasts, so if you're
into wrestling, check us out.So we'll probably debut the video right around
our first episode should be in acouple of weeks. I still have to

(13:05):
finish editing. It's a pretty longvideo. It's probably gonna be fifteen to
twenty minutes unless I chop it upeven more. But we'll see. I
might piss some people off, butI think it's gonna be pretty funny.
See. I'm excited to get thatpodcast rolling again. Hopefully get this rolling
again. It's hard to I hada couple of guests lined up at the

(13:28):
last couple of couple of months, and I just can never find the right
time in our schedules to do it, even though my schedule's pretty wide open.
But yeah, I'll try to getbetter at doing this. I don't
know. I started this in twentytwenty. I should have over one hundred

(13:50):
episodes now, but I don't.I don't have any you have deleted.
I probably deleted five or six soloepisodes at least, but oh well,
it doesn't matter. It's not likeI'm making money out of this thing or
anie, you know whatever. So, Yeah, wrestling is starting up pretty

(14:11):
soon, which I'm super excited about. Probably won't be able to make it
to Iowa City for any wrestling thisyear. I was kind of hoping too,
but going to Iowa for about aweek to officiate my cousin's wedding and
at the end of November beginning ofDecember. But they don't have any home

(14:33):
duels while I'm there, so Iwon't get us see that, see anything
like that. Iowa football teams kindof I don't know. There's six and
two, but they're kind of hardto watch this year. Their offense is
one of the worst things I've everseen in my life. I think it's

(14:54):
really bad, like they were inworse than the Lobo was on offense,
which was rough. We think aBig ten team could figure out offense,
but it's not going well. Butthere were six and two. They can

(15:16):
keep finding ways to win, saidlast week when they got hosed by the
REF. But that's another story.Anyways, I don't know what else to
talk about, really, So TimWakefield died. Tim Wakefield, former baseball
player, played a long time withthe Boston Red Sox. And actually I

(15:39):
have kind of a funny story aboutTim Wakefield. Back in nineteen ninety two,
I was twelve years old, We'dme and my brother usually gotta go
to like one Iowa Cubs game ofyear Iowa Cubs or the Triple A team
for the Chicago Cubs, and everyyear we gotta go catchup baseball game.

(16:00):
And nineteen ninety two they were playingthe Buffalo Bisons, I think it was.
They were the Trip A team forPittsburgh Pirates at the time, and
they had had an awesome lineup too. They had one of the first three

(16:22):
guys in their lineup hit home runsthat day. It was like back to
back to back. Al Martin wasthe first one. I think Jeff King
was second, and I'm pretty surej Bell was the third guy, but
I don't know if he was inthe minors in nineteen ninety two. I
had to I'd have to look.Anyways, I gotta see three home runs

(16:44):
back to back to back, whichwas pretty impressive. But before the game
started, me and me and mybrother we got to hang out. We
were up in the left field areaand the other team was guess as their
bullpen area maybe, and Tim Wakefieldwas actually warming up over there. He

(17:07):
wasn't pitching that day, but hewas over there throwing some pitches, and
I remember, you know, hewas. He was throwing knuckleballs, and
me and my brother are kind oflaughing and stuff, and so he started
hackling him. I remember saying somethinglike, you're never gonna make it to
the majors throwing like that. Iremember him looking up and kind of laughing,

(17:33):
and I don't know, we justgot packling him, and he was
a good sport about it. Hewas having fun with us, So I
thought that was pretty cool. SoI was like, yeah, I hope
he I hope he makes it themajors because he actually seemed like a cool
guy, you know, And itwas an addict to us about us heckling
him. And then like a monthor two later, he was up in

(17:55):
the bigs like kicking ass. Likehe had a really good rookie season with
the pirates. I think he almostwant the side young even I don't know
if he got votes or whatever becausehe only played half the Europe in the
major leagues. I'd got to lookup his rookie numbers. But I always
kind of followed him throughout his careerand stuff like that. It seemed like

(18:18):
a cool guy. So the restin peace to Tim Wakefield. He was
pretty young, like fifty seven.Maybe he gets said so that sucks.
Anyways, I'm going to go watchthe Monday night football game. Got some
shows coming out November sixteenth. I'llI'll be here in Albuquerque at Boxing Bear
Brewery my pal Big Bennie Martinez. It's his twenty year anniversary show and he

(18:42):
wants me to be a part ofit, so definitely want to. I
want to do that support Bennie. He's always been a good buddy of mine.
So if you're in Albuquerque, camecheck out that show. It's Thursday
night, November sixteenth, Boxing BearBrewery. I don't think the tickets are
on sale yet, but they willbe very soon and I will have a

(19:03):
link to that on Funny Fletcher dotcom. Let's check out the website for
that. Also, I'll be filminga special for dry Bar Comedy, not
dry bar, open Bar. Drybar is the clean comedy open bars knots.

(19:23):
Open Bar is a thing that myfriend Ron fine Gold runs. It's
his version of dry Bar but notClean Comedy. So I'll be recording one
of those specials in Colorado Springs atLooney's Comedy Corner February ninth and tenth.
And I don't think the tickets areon sale for that yet. I'm going

(19:47):
to check the website real quick justto make sure. But once they are
on sale, I'll definitely have themup on my website. Let's yeah,

(20:11):
they're not on there yet, soonce they are up there, I'll get
them on my website, funny flutterdot com. If you go to Funny
flutterer dot com, you can alsosign up for my newsletter. Try to
post one monthly. Sometimes it doesn'thappen. Like August, I didn't post
one just so it's taken a monthoff. Yeah, that's it. That's

(20:33):
it for now. Trying to getsome more guests lined up. Hopefully we'll
have that happen. If not,I'll just record these solo shitty podcasts.
Thanks for checking it out though, also thank you to Jarrett Reddick from Bowling
for Soup for the intro music andJohn Singleton from Anesthesia for outro music.

(20:57):
Another thing I wanted to mention Idid. I did take my nephew to
a couple of concerts. I hadn'tbeen to any concerts this year and then
went to two and three nights,so that was cool. Fear Factory was
one of them. They played atthe Sunshine Theater. Actually saw them play
at the Sunshine in two thousand andone, so it was kind of cool

(21:19):
to see them again. New singer. Do you know the guitar players?
I think the only one that's stillthere. Yeah, it was a cool
show. Lines at the Gate played. My buddy is their tour manager.
He actually gave me a free hat. Also gave me an autogaph CD which
I gave to my nephew, andmy friend's brand Thrall opened the open the

(21:42):
show, so that was really cool. And then two nights later we went
to see Avenge Sevenfold at isletta Amphitheaterand I hadn't been out there in years.
It's cool Amphitheater outdoor. Man,if you haven't seen a Benge sevenfold
in person bucking check them out.I uh, it was pretty blown away

(22:03):
by their show. They put ona really good show. Guitar players awesome.
One of the best live bands I'veever seen. Had to sit through
a shitty band called Falling in Reverse, but it was worth it. Yeah,
Falling in Reverse kind of sucks. And my nephew told me there their
singers are rapists, so fuck him. So yeah. Anyway, thanks for

(22:26):
tuning in. We'll talk to younext time. By everybody,
