(00:07):
His name is a really funny guyand this is his podcast in your Rise
Crime letter. Hey, everybody, thanks for tuning in. It's in the
Right podcast, episode seventy six.And I'm doing a solo one even though
(00:30):
I don't like him. Yeah, doing it anyway. It's kind of late.
It's around midnight. It's actually exactlymidnight right now. I just got
home. The lighting kind of sucks, but just go home from a Lobos
(00:51):
game. My brother took me tosee the Lobos Senior nights. Lobos beat
Fresno State by about twenty twenty one. Pretty solid beat down. Actually,
I took him to his first Lobo'sgame a few weeks ago against Colorado States
and it was a super fun game. I took him for an early birthday
(01:15):
presence and he had never been tothe pitt before. So pretty cool over
a basketball game anyway, So itwas cool to take him. And Lobos
beat Colorado State. It was rankedat the time. Great game too,
came down to the wire, Loboshit a shot like two point seven left.
(01:38):
Want it's this night was a littledifferent. It's a kind of a
beatdown. He took me for anearly birthday present from me. You have
the same birthday. He's coming upMarch nineteenth, if you want to send
me gifts and shit or you knowwhatever. I like going to games with
him too, because he stays forthe entire game, even if it's an
(02:01):
ass whoopon. I like that.I hate people who leave early. Yeah,
you gotta work early. I getit. Boo fucking who you know.
I also wanted to start off thispodcast by saying, rest in peace
(02:23):
Richard Lewis, stand up comedian.I wasn't a huge fan of his stand
up comedy, but I really likedhim on Curby Your Enthusiasm a lot.
I thought he's pretty solid on there. It's the rest in Peace Richard Richard
Lewis. I just wanted to givean update on what I've been doing.
(02:45):
February was pretty busy, which iswhy I didn't record any podcasts. I
was on the road most of themonth. Didn't bring my microphone with me
either, which was fine because Ididn't really have a ton of downtime.
(03:07):
Started out in Colorado Springs at Looney'sComedy Corner, which was a great club.
I always love going there. Ericthe owner is awesome. STAB's awesome.
We actually uh me and Tim Gaitherdid the weekend there and we filmed
(03:28):
specials for Open Bar Comedy, whichis a little different than Dry Bar Comedy.
Dry Bar is filmed in Utah, but you're not allowed to swear or
talk about sexual intercourse or anything likethat, make any windows or I don't
(03:50):
know. You just have to belike squeaky clean for Dry Bar, and
so open Bar is a little different. You could do whatever he wants.
So we filmed on Saturday. Fridaywas just normal shows. Saturday, we
filmed two sets only thirty minutes. For me, I only have the film
(04:13):
thirty minutes. I think that's whatmost of their specials are, thirty minutes.
So I figured it would be agood way to get rid of thirty
minutes of material that I either don'tdo anymore or jokes that I'm tired of
doing. So that's what I did. And the first show didn't go very
well in my opinion. I mean, I still got laughs and things like
(04:36):
that. I didn't bomb, butit just did not flow well. I
forgot a lot of the jokes becauseI haven't told some of them in years,
and it was just, I don'tknow, it's not a good flow
to its second show. After thatfirst show, I went upstairs to the
(04:58):
green room and you know, reallyworked on the set, like getting getting
all the jokes in order where Iwanted them and things like that. So
the second show went way better, much better flow to it. I even
taped. I taped the set listto one of the speakers on stage just
in case I needed it, butluckily I didn't need to use it at
(05:19):
all, So that was nice. And I feel like the crowd is pretty
pretty good for that one. Notthe best ever, but I mean that's
never gonna happen. When you recorda special, you're always like you always
do a show and you're like,man, I wish I would have recorded
that one for the special, butwho cares. It's done with no clue
(05:44):
when it's gonna come out. ButI will definitely bug the shit out of
everyone when it does. And like, hey, look at these old jokes
and I'm sick of doing don't wantto hear ever again, and you're probably
sick of them too, but herethey are a special. Yeah, it
was fun working with Tim Gaither asalways, you know. And then my
(06:06):
buddy Don Morgan came down Saturday withhis fiance she wasn't his fiance at the
time, but a few days latershe was. I actually house sat for
them the following week in Denver, and Don's a great duty. He's been
on the podcast Super Funny Comic whenhe was doing comedy. Just a super
(06:30):
nice dude. But he asked Medea house sit for him for a week.
Him and is now fiance went toVegas and he proposed. She said
yes, and that was pretty cool, so congrats to them. So yeah,
I got to stay in Denver fora week. I had a really
good time. Had lunch with acouple of old friends. My old roommate
(06:54):
date Guyer, who is a greatmusician, My old uh not roommate but
old writing partner Dennis Dennis Verels heused to do some stand up and great
musician. Also. Always have funwith those guys getting to see them again.
So it's a fun week I did. I ended up doing seven shows
(07:17):
in Denver, four in Colorado Springsseven and Denver. Two of them were
in Boulder at the License Number one, which is in the Hotel Boulderrado building.
Really cool little room there, doneup before, but they switched switch
(07:39):
room, so it's a little better. It's like more the other room was
like more open and kind of Idon't know, it's hard to explain if
you don't see it. I guessthis room is just better for comedy.
But those shows are awesome. Wedid Wednesday and Thursday like Valentine's type shows,
(08:00):
so a lot of like relationship typematerial stuff like that. Got to
perform with hippie man John Nova Sadwho I've known for probably close to twenty
years now. Super funny dude.Corey David this a fairly new guy.
Don't know him very well, buthe was nice enough to give me a
ride to him from the show.Super nice guy, very very funny.
(08:26):
And then Thursday, gotta work withBob Metals, another guy I've known for
probably about fifteen years. So it'sawesome seeing Bob. So those shows are
fun. I got to meet, you know, some new comics that were
on the shows. I met adude from New York City. It was
really cool, very funny. Sothose shows are fun. And then Friday
(08:48):
Saturday, I was at the DenverComedy Lounge, which is a very cool
room in Denver. Obviously they switchedthe room around a little bit too,
and I feel like it's a better, better vibe that way, the way
(09:09):
they have it set up. Sothe five shows there, two on Friday,
three on Saturday. Friday shows arekind of weird, like not big
laughers, but it was still afun, fun time. And then this
all three Saturday shows were awesome.Got to perform with the same comics throughout
(09:31):
the weekend as well. It wasthe Wanda Mayfield is the headliner. She's
from Cleveland. Very funny. DerekLuna from Springfield, Missouri was on the
show. Got to meet him.Very cool. Guy. Joel Vernon was
the host at Maham before. He'sa Denver guy. He looks like one
(09:52):
of the dudes from Revenge of theNerds. I was getting mixed up Lewis
and Gilbert. I think it wasLewis. Well, look up real quick,
not that it matters, but Revengewith the Nerds Lewis, No,
it wasn't Lewis is the other onealready forgot his name. Yeah, so
(10:18):
he looks like the other guy,not Lewis. So yeah, those are
fun shows these Yeah. So doingthree shows on Saturday is fun. So
they have a late show Saturday.I can't it's called like The Naughty Show
or The Dirty Ship, and Ithink the Naughty Show something like that.
(10:39):
So I took advantage of that.I did some of my dirtier stuff for
more fucked up stuff that I sometimeswouldn't do on stage, you know,
or sometimes I would, you know, sometimes I don't give a shit.
It just depends on where I'm at. It's kind of funny, so like,
so you cut our times on thatone. There's supposed to be.
(11:00):
Uh So Tony Bitchcliff was in townperforming and some of his openers were gonna
come do sets, Cam Patterson,Hans Kim, and Casey Rockets And I've
heard of all those dudes. Iknow Casey. I met Casey before,
(11:20):
and I really like him a lot. I think he's super funny, and
uh, he was super nice.I gotta perform with him at the I
was at the Tower City Comedy Festivalin Plano, Texas a couple of years
ago, and I don't know,he was just really fun to watch.
If you get a chance to seehim, it's pretty entertaining. Uh.
Anyways, they were supposed to dosets, and uh, I guess they
(11:43):
just showed up and didn't tell Benthey were running later or anything. So
Ben Ben Crumberg, who runs theDenver Comedy Lounge, told him the fuck
off and they ended up leaving soso they didn't do sets. I thought
that was kind of cool of Bento do that since they and communicate that
they weren't gonna be there on time. You gotta see Zack Moss. Zack
(12:05):
Moss popped in. He's a supersuper nice guy, very funny. He's
got a new record. How he'sshowing us. Uh actually came out on
vinyl, which is super cool.I don't remember the name of it off
the top of my head, butgo check it out. Zack Moss m
(12:28):
A A S. That's how hespells last name. So Denver was cool,
man. I don't know why Icalled you guys man. Uh,
this is how I talk sometimes.I guess I'm doing solo podcasts, fucking
stupid, but I wanted to recordone that's super late, and I doubt
anybody would want to record this lateanyway. Yeah, So Denver is great,
(12:54):
fun shows. And then came backto uh, New Mexico for a
few days, went to the basketballgame, the Colorado State game. Then
I went to Tucson and worked atLaughs and Tucson with Tim Gay three again.
Tim hadn't been there in a longtime, so it's cool to help
(13:15):
him get back into Laughs, youknow, because Tim gets me gives me
a ton of work on the road. So I was able to get him
some work, and I felt niceto do, even though it's not even
close to how much stuff he's gottenme over the years. But tu Son's
(13:37):
great. They one of the bestclubs in the country. Crowds a lot
of crowdwise, I think, andI mean the staff's great. I love
Casey case He's a hell of adude, you know. So we always
have a good time. I alwayshave a good time in Tucson, get
to hang out with my friends.Got to try a new restaurant. A
(13:58):
buddy of mine's a chef there,so I tried. Uh it's called Blanco.
It's the place, and my friendJonathan's a chef over there. Helped
me up some free lunch. Gota breakfast burrito with French fries in it.
(14:20):
And I think about that a lot, even though it just happened not
too long ago. But that wasa damn good burrito. I'm very happy
that it went. But yeah, shows are fun. All these hot crowds
there. I that's funny because Tinda'snot a ton of political stuff. But
(14:43):
we were out selling T shirts andsome lady, uh, you know,
she gave him a nice compliment andthen she's like, can I give you
I make a suggestion, and uh, I just dropped the political stuff especially
now. Blah blah blah. Ohshut up. I'm not a big fan
(15:09):
of political comedy either, But like, nothing he says is really that bad
at all, And it's not likelike it's not a big chunk of his
set. From what I've seen,I usually don't watch towards the end of
its sets. I'm usually setting upmerchandise. But from what I've seen,
(15:33):
it's not anything crazy at all.You know, I don't know. And
the main thing he says is likehe's not a Democrat or a Republican,
So I don't know why. Idon't know. I'll stop talking about it.
Has not a big deal. He'snot going to take your suggestion,
(15:54):
you dumbass. He's been doing itfor a long time and he doesn't need
you to about Yeah. Other thanthat, though, crowds are great.
The guy who hosted it was hisfirst time hosting. That was cool.
That's happened twice this year. We'vegot to work with first time hosts.
(16:18):
The girl in Omaha was the firsttimer, So that's always cool to work
with comics their first weekends and see, like you can kind of see how
their confidence grows throughout the shows. You know, like even though it was
only four shows, you could stilltell, like, you know, from
watching their first set as opposed totheir fourth set or third set of the
week. That's pretty cool to see. It's it's just so much different than
(16:44):
just doing a couple of open micsa week. You know, you get
a little more time to piece thingstogether and figure out what's not working or
what's kind of killing the vibe inyour sets or whatever. And that was
cool. Dude's name was Visy. That's not his real name. I don't
(17:07):
think Visy Thick. That's what hegoes by that stage name. He actually
looked like he looked a lot likePatrick Candelaria, an old l Passo comedian
who passed away sadly. But theowner of the club, Gary Bidham,
also thought he he looked like Patrick. Yeah, he did a great job
(17:33):
and uh and I guess that Iforget her name, but she was really
good, very funny. Getting outof Tucson kind of sucks. I was
supposed to fly out, I supposedto fly home Monday nights, and everything
was great, and then my flightkept getting delayed, and then I got
(17:56):
delayed so much that I was gonnamiss my connecting flights. So there when
I got to the airport, they'relike, oh, we're gonna move your
flight to tomorrow morning, six am, so you have to pay for another
uber and another day of parking atthe airport, and we're not gonna do
shit about it. We're just gonnasay sorry, sorry about that. I
(18:19):
can't do anything about it. Fuckyou Southwest, your pricks A day late
because of you, bucker's. Ohand then the next day when I did
fly out, so I have toget up at fucking three thirty to catch
an uber to the airport. SoI have to side to fight from Tucson
(18:41):
to Denver to Albuquerque. Yeah, that makes sense, right, Tucson to
Denver to Albuquerque. That was mynew flight. A little back tracking a
little bit, so the fight toDenver's fine, maybe got a little bit
(19:06):
delayed. Get to Denver, Ipass out right away. I always pass
out on the plane. You shouldstay up all night pass out on the
plane. So I fall asleeping onthe plane in Denver, barely make it
to like. I had to walkmy ass off to get to that plane.
(19:29):
I think we landed at like eightthirty, eight twenty and it starts
boarding at eight thirty, so Ihad to walk from gate like ce twenty
six to see fifty six. Shedoesn't mean shit to you if you've never
been to the Denver Airport. TheDenver Airport is fucking humongous. That's say
(19:52):
thirty in the morning. I'm tired, out of shape. I gotta walk
my ass off to the gate.My calves are hurting pretty bad, so
I'm walking pretty briskly, you know, pretty brisk walk. And I get
there. Of course they have towait a little bit, and then I
(20:15):
finally get on the plane. They'redoing their little thing, you know,
that's snowing a little bit, andthen I pass out. I wake up
and I feel I'm like, Idon't know how long I was out either.
I was like, I feel likewe're still on the ground. It
(20:40):
doesn't feel like we're in the airat all. And I look out the
window and it's just covered in snow, and I'm like, Okay, we're
definitely not in the air. AndI look at my phone and it's like
ten thirty or something like that. We're supposed to leave. I think the
(21:03):
flight was supposed to leave at likenine, that's like ten thirty, but
we're not at the gates. Icould like I was able to look out
and notice that we weren't at thegates, and then I fell back asleep,
and then uh, we end upback at the gate somehow, like
(21:26):
we had the refuel or something. So some people get off the plane because
they messed meetings or whatever they weregoing to do. So some people get
off the plane. They've got arefuel, and then the ice and we
(21:48):
were there another couple hours. Itseemed like, I don't know. We
didn't end up leaving until one ish, probably after one o'clock because I got
I got home around three that day. I was supposed to get home the
(22:11):
previous night at like ten thirty orsomething. I don't know, but then
I was supposed to be home byeleven thirty or eleven ten thirty, who
knows. The whole point is Igot home super fucking late because of Southwest
(22:32):
bullshit. Anyways, I don't haveto fly the rest of this month,
which is nice, but got abunch of gigs come up. I'm gonna
promote my gigs and then I'm gettingkind of tired. Go watch some TV.
Here's my doord It's March thirteenth,Akama Sky City Casino. That's in
(22:56):
New Mexico, not too far away, about an hour or so. March
fourteenth, Mescalero, New Mexico,in of the Mountain Gods, beautiful casino.
Taking my buddy AJ Martinez with meon these ones. March sixteenth,
(23:17):
I am hosting, guest hosting atTurtle Mountain in Rio Rancho, right down
the street. Here my buddy EddieStevens, who runs that show and normally
hosts. I told him you shouldhave headline one day. I just wanted
to see him headlines. I thinkhe's funny as hell. I said,
if you want to headline one ofthese days, I will host. You
(23:40):
can just sit back and hang outand fucking headline. So he's headlining March
sixteenth. I'm guest hosting. Gotan awesome line up. I can't remember
who I was on it, buta lot of good ones. It's about
seven comics. Then that's it fromMarch on my birthday of course the nineteenth.
(24:00):
I'm going to see Green Jelly onthe fifteenth. Pretty excited about that.
And of course the NCAA Wrestling Tournamentis you know, the following week,
so don't bother me. I'll bewatching that. And if you do
like collag wrestling then you probably don't. But if you do, check out
(24:22):
my podcast, Stop Styling Podcast.Me and Tim Gaither try to do a

Casino, which is where they filmedparts of Kingpin and me and Tim will
like to He gets a little stonedafter the shows. And there's this diner

just talk shit all night, andthen we'll walk around the casino and do
lines from Kingpin at people and theydon't know what the hell we're talking about.
I'd let us walk up to peopleand by who you calling a psycho?

(27:22):
I'm gonna wrap it up right now. I do want to say thank you
to John Singleton from Anesthesia for theoutro music. If you're in Albuquerque,
Anesthesia's playing at the launch Pad onMarch ninth, which is this Saturday,
yep, Saturday. I'm gonna tryto make it to that one if I
(27:44):
can. So it's actually uh,you know John's birthday. It's crazy.
It's John's birthday. So also JarreedReddick's birthday. Who does my intro music
well in pursuit Jared Reddick? Sofucking how crazy is that? Happy Birthdays?
Bowling for Soup also on tour.Jared's doing his country thing. He's
(28:07):

Bowling for Soup shows this year, and I'm pretty excited about that. So
thank you guys for the music.Very thankful for that. They did it
for free. That's how cool theyare. They just put something together and
(28:29):
I love it. I love bothof them. Just awesome, awesome dudes.
Andy, it sounded really cool,so I was like, fuck,
yeah, do it good stuff.Yeah, that's pretty much it. I've
got some cool guests coming up,so hopefully, hopefully this month i'll record
(28:49):
some more with some guests. Ijust need to line up times to do
it and things like that. That'sit for now. Thanks for tuning in.
You can, you know, giveme five star reviews and shit if
you want, even if you don'tlike it, give me a five star
(29:10):
review, you prick. You know. I do it for my friends even
if I don't listen to their podcast, I'll give him a five star review.
You know, I'll even do iton Yelp. If you have a
restaurant, I'll go on there.I'll pretend they'll make up something. You
know, why, this is thebest gravy I've ever had in my life.
I don't even like gravy that much, you know, maybe it is
the best gravy I've ever had.Maybe I don't even have gravy. People
(29:33):
like, what is this guy talkingabout? Don't know? Anyways, shut
up now, trying to hit thirtyminutes, and I got thirty five seconds
left. So if I just keeptalking for thirty seconds, you can shut
it up now if you want. But I'm gonna keep talking for thirty seconds
and see what happens. And yousee this whole thing of me. This
(29:57):
is pretty cool. Huh. Thisis uh, this is a funk pop
of me idea. Yeah, prettydamn similar. Huh. Look at this.
Six seconds left? Should be ControllerQuest. Maybe that's all different around,
(30:18):
and I'll be a VN troller Questand this will be my dummy,
and uh, well, go ontour with the puppet fucker Jeff Dunham puppetfucker.
All right, see you later.Yeah yeah yeah
