Speaker 1 (00:07):
His name is Cher, a really funny guy, and this
is his podcast. In Your Rise Enricaster Fletcher. Hey, everyone,
thanks for tuning in. It's in the RYE Podcast with
Kurt Fletcher. I'm Kurt Fletcher. This episode number eighty one.
(00:29):
I think, yeah, that sounds right. Gonna do a solo
podcast today. We've got some awesome guests coming up next week.
For sure is going to be a William Wheeler, local
Albuquerque comedian. Got some other comedians lined up as well.
First of all, let's talk about tour dates. Got some
(00:52):
tour dates coming up Thursday, Halloween nights. I'll be into
the Mountain Gods down in Mescalero, New Mexico. November twenty first,
I will be in Santa Fe at the Jean Cocteaux
Cinema Theater or whatever. And then November twenty second and
twenty third, albeit its Looney's Comedy Corner in Colorado Springs,
(01:15):
which is where I filmed my special in February that
just came out. It's called Ginger Snaps. That's on YouTube
right now. Go look it up. Kurt Fletcher Ginger Snaps.
One of the clips from that went pretty viral. That
was pretty cool. Got over half a million views. I
(01:36):
think it got about five hundred and ninety five thousand,
which is pretty cool. It doesn't happen very often. For me.
That's never happened, so that's pretty neat. Some some mean
people in the comments, as you can imagine, not very
many though, for five hundred and ninety five thousand views,
(01:58):
you know. But I am gonna find where all the
all those people live and I'm gonna send them some
stuff in the mail or something, or you call the
cops and say say bad things about them and get
them arrested. I haven't decided yet. Maybe you guys can
(02:23):
help me out, or maybe I'll just not do anything
because it's not a big deal. Comments on the Internet,
no big deal. There's way more nice comments than mean ones,
so s yeah. If you haven't seen my special check
it out YouTube Kurt Fletcher Ginger Snaps, filmed by Open
(02:48):
Bar Comedy, So check that out. I've also got some
stickers for sale, you guys. I got this for Pleucher
Comedy stickers bye, and then some other stickers. You can
go to my website Funny fletter dot com check out.
(03:11):
There's a link on there where you can click on
it and you can buy stickers. But what I don't
have is a link to buy T shirts. I have
T shirts. They are my sole custody T shirts. They
are not listed on the website, but you can still
order them from me if you like. Shoot me an email.
They are twenty bucks plus whatever it costs for shipping,
(03:36):
So if you want one of those, hit me up.
I just got back from Canada. I've never been to
Canada until last week, and I had a pretty good time,
even though there weren't very many people at my shows.
(04:01):
So yeah, I flew into Canada played the Comedy Cave
in Calgary. Calgary is a pretty big city, I think
the third largest city in Canada. One of the comedians
told me, and I believed him, so I repeated it
on my podcast. I didn't fact check it at all.
(04:21):
He's lived there for a while, so I'm assuming he's
probably correct. So yeah, I flew on Monday. Monday was
really snowy there and it was a long travel day.
And I walked down to the club Monday nights and
(04:43):
I was one of the few people that walked through
those doors. The others were comedians and staff and no
audience members. So we canceled Monday, which was kind of
nice because I was pretty exhausted and I did not
feel like performing, and so that was nice. One of
(05:07):
the comedians took me down to an open mic to
check it out, so I got to watch a couple
of comics down there. I had some pretty pretty solid
comics at the open mic. They said it was the
longest running open mike and Calgary nineteen years. Pretty crazy.
Let's see, Tuesday was awesome. Tuesday we had we had
(05:27):
our first show. I don't know why I said it
was awesome. It was. It was fun to finally get
to perform. Man, we had a we had a small,
one small crowd. Trying to think of how many people
there were, anywhere between nine and twelve something like that,
(05:49):
and uh, it was. It was a tough forty five minutes,
tell you that. But there were The other comedians were
greats dale Ward I think was one of them, kid
named Jarvis, really funny. Man. I forgot to write down
(06:10):
the other dude's name. I think it was Chris something.
I remember. He had a tattoo of like a pirate
shark on his titty. It's pretty funny. Yeah, they're all great.
All the all the local openers for the entire week,
they were really great. They do it a little different
than they do in the United States. They have each
(06:30):
night there's different openers, so they're all local openers. So
I don't know how many comics ended up opening for me,
but they were all super nice, really funny guys and girls.
There was a girl, Monica. She was very funny. Let's
see Tuesday. Wednesday was another small crowd, also in the
(06:55):
nine to twelve range. That one was a little more
fun than the Tuesday crowd. Thursday was four people. I
know that sounds awful, but they were actually really good people.
(07:15):
There's just two couples. They weren't there together, so it
was like separate tables. At one point, one of the
ladies got up, so I had the rest of the
crowd hide in the corner. So when she came back,
nobody was in there. That was kind of funny. I
need to watch their video see if it was as
funny as I thought it was. On their Friday, we
(07:40):
had two people. Just one couple came in, so I
just did my set at their table. There's no point
in just going on stage and trying to tell them jokes,
so I just went and sat at their table. I
had the other comedians sit around. It was Warren, Warren, Dean,
and Monica and I can't pronounce her last name. But
(08:07):
that was pretty funny. It was a pretty good time.
I had a good time. I feel like those people
had a good time too. And then Saturday we had
a bigger show. We had I don't know how many people,
but definitely double the size of all the other shows.
So that wasn't so bad. And all the people were
super nice. I got to meet a lot of the
people after the shows and stuff like that. It's super
(08:30):
nice people there. Great comedians though, went and had lunch
with one of them, Brian. I can't remember. I didn't
write down any of their last names. I'm an idiot,
but Brian was on a couple of shows, very funny.
Gotta chat with him quite a bit. Warren had me
(08:53):
on his podcast. We recorded a podcast after the Saturday
night show. There's a guy named will Will Collison. He
performed Saturday, super funny. He was running the open mic
on Monday. There's two guys named Anton and they were
both funny. And I'm gonna forget some people's name, there
(09:15):
was a chandler, there was I'm such an asshole. I
didn't write them down. I was trying to remember everyone's names.
But like I said, they have different openers every night,
like two or three openers every night, and so it's
hard to remember so many people's names. The club was
(09:36):
a lot of fun. The club owner and the people
at the club were all super nice. So that was fun.
In the clubs like Rite downtown Calgary, the condos downtown,
so I did a lot of walking. You know, they'll
walk around downtown quite a bit, see some stuff, eat
some pizza, ate a lot of pizza. I like pizza.
(10:00):
So that was pretty cool, just walking around downtown Calgary.
They're gonna have me back next year, uh September, in
September twenty ninth through October fourth. So write that down.
You won't remember. I won't remember. I've got it written down.
It's on my website, Funny Fletcher dot com. That's gonna
(10:23):
be a really short podcast, by the way, because I'm
hungry and so I have nothing to say. Yeah, I
watch my special. That one came out uh Thursday, and
then uh yeah, that video kept blowing up. That was
kind of nice. I think they posted it on Friday
and over half a million views by Sunday Sunday night. Actually, uh,
(10:49):
I was supposed to fly home kind of late. I
wasn't supposed to go until about ten o'clock. And then
you know, my buddy jareded that does the intro took
on my podcast. Here got the little poster of them
in the background there. Jared Reddick Bam, his band Bowling
for Soup was playing in Albuquerque, the last show of
(11:12):
their tour on the on Sunday, so I texted them
to see what time they're going on. It was nine fifteen,
so I wasn't gonna be able to make it for
their entire set. So I was able to switch my flights,
but the only one they had, like cheap enough, was
super early, so I got about an hour of sleep,
(11:35):
woke up, grabbed an uber to the airports, sat in
that line forever, flew to Denver, and the person in
the Denver airport like screwed up and everybody from our
flight had to redo security. We had to walk through
security again, which is a bunch of horse shit. So yeah,
(11:58):
I didn't get a lot of sleep that day, but
I got a Bowling for Soup at the l Ray
Theater and uh, that was pretty cool, and uh, let
me see Jarrett rock Out. He gave me a shout
out from the stage, which was kind of cool. And
they played like a two hour set something like that.
(12:18):
And the opening bands are awesome. They called Makeout and
Adam and the Metal Hawks. Good fucking show. So they're
doing the twenty year anniversary of their album I Hangover
You Don't Deserve And I saw the first show of
the tour in Texas and the last show sounds pretty dope,
(12:42):
pretty fucking dope. Yeah, God damn it. I got ship
else to say, though. This is a good week, you know,
good week in Canada. Fun weekend. I'll be recording more
podcast who got more guests lined up, So I'm pretty
(13:03):
excited about that. Just been watching a lot of horror
movies this month. Been keep a track at about forty
five right now. We're watching Halloween style movies, Halloween horror
horror movies. I was just watching the New Halloween from
(13:23):
twenty eighteen before I started recording this. I think my
favorite one I've watched so far probably probably Terrifier three.
I gotta see that in the theater. It's a double
feature with Terrifier two. So that was pretty cool. You
haven't seen the new Terrifier movie. It's pretty awesome. A
(13:46):
lot of gore, a lot of laughs are at the clown.
Pretty funny, even though he's murdering a bunch of people.
Pretty hilarious. Yeah, I don't have anything else to say.
Come to a show. Watch my special. Watch my music
(14:07):
video that I made with my buddy Tim Gather. He
has a joke about Michael Myers and how he never talks,
and he's like, what if he did talk? What if
he had a lisp. So then I rewrote the lyrics
from Elton John's I'm Still Standing. I changed it to
(14:29):
I'm Still Stabbing, and then shot a music video me
and Tim were performing in Tulsa, and then Tim sang
the saying the lyrics in Michael Myers's voice with a lisp.
So that's super ridiculous. Maybe I'll add it to this
(14:50):
podcast so it almost hits twenty minutes, and you guys
can watch it and hopefully have a laugh because it's
super ridiculous. And uh, I don't know. I hope everyone
has a say Halloween, have fun, you got kids have
fun with those kids, taking them out tricks and treatings
(15:13):
and all. That's uh all. My nephews and stuff are
too old to trick or treat now, so don't get
to do that anymore. That's too bad anyways. Thanks for
tuning in, Buttholes. Thanks to Jared Reddick for intro music,
(15:38):
John Singleton for Anesthesia for outro music. See you next time,
but Holes.
