(00:22):
and the Welsh.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
What is up in This League Fantasy Baseball Podcast? Bogman Welsh,
it is us and it is the Joe Rico coming
up on the show in just a little bit. Bogman
and Joe Rico talking about some of the latest and
greatest around the baseball sphere. Because I will be jet flying,
limousine riding, woo, I won't. I'll be just driving whole
(00:52):
family to a dance competition.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
I'm exactly what everybody wants to do with their time.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Kelly's our producer on Fantasy Pros, and he was like,
he's like, ooh, do a little staycation. I was like,
ooh no, not at all. Yes, we're staying at a
hotel in the local area. But it ain't no vacation
or staycation or nothing. Kids in crazy dance competition. That's
what's on the docket. But you guys don't care about
(01:20):
that you're gonna get bogged when you're gonna get a rico.
I'm sticking around for the open and we'll do what
is going to probably be one of the last voice smails.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Oh come on now, one more, We'll do one more.
It's gotta be listen.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
One more.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
We gotta get fifteen responses next week. Fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I was gonna say this, we take a break from
it next week and then we'll come back then following week,
and we've got to have a big response. So do
you want do you want to do it? So here? Okay,
so here's your option.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
I want to stick to it.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
We could go next week, but if it is bad again,
it's done for the season, it's done done. Or we
can take a break and then we can come back
the following Let's.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Take a break next week and then come back because
there's there's a lot of NFL draft stuff this week.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Okay, all right, so no voicemails next week, not that
you guys care, but maybe the next week pretty poor showing.
I will hat tip to some of the people that
had not emailed before trying to throw their hat in
the ring. Appreciate you guys doing it, but just slow turnouts.
You guys don't have questions, that's fine. Also, I also
kind of understand like we've made ourselves a little bit
(02:29):
more accessible. I do like two streams a week where
you guys can ask questions. I'm on Fantasy Pros. We're
taking more questions on leading off we do the live shot.
So I get it. But you know, we want to
be a show for the people. But if the people
don't want it, it's all good. So we have a
little version of that that we're gonna be talking about
here in just a little bit. Bugs, I'm going to
present to you an idea. Let's take the way back
(02:51):
machine last week, Okay, only last week where all the
way back, I believe eve uh everybody conspired on Fantasy
Pros against me without my knowledge to everybody loved it.
They created all these things and these ideas of how
(03:13):
Welsh is a big, stupid, fat, dumb idiot. I'm pretty
sure that was most of what they were tobatim. Yeah,
that's why I took it, because I dared question a
player that I loved in questioning Garrett Crochet so much
so that they changed the the titling of my name
to a big L Mike Mayer went out of his
(03:34):
way to record what seemed like a twelve minute video,
great content for two minutes of him ranting about how
could I possibly ever question Garrett Crochet. Just want to
point out them things getting lit up a little bit
this morning. Maybe thanks are gonna level off.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
A tiny It's a day game, day games. He's not good,
everybody all that, you know, back to the night games.
He'll be fine. How Dad's question, He's a creature of
the night.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
So this is like going to the going to the
adult bar in the day versus at night.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
That's right. You have to be a true degenerate to
go there when their sons still out.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
So you'd have to really be into Garrett Crochet with that. Yeah,
I just want to point out, at worst, these are
like low Sea cup level things getting banged around. By
the time this show is done, there's a possibility that
these might be Dolly Parton like.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
So, okay, all right, but but but let's let's take
a step back here real quick. All we enter out
on Crochet, you know you're you're you're still in correct.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
I'm in, I'm in yeah, my whole bit the whole
time before was like, hey, guys, something's off, Like Garrett
Crochet doesn't here was my big thing. He doesn't have
the swing and miss stuff that we were seeing last year.
Like last year, it was everything was coming in devastating
and uh, you know, high big strikeout games even for
(04:52):
the worst team in baseball. This year there's been like
like things have tapered back a tiny bit. And that's
what I saw early on. And my big thing was
it was like, hey, listen, it's cold and stuff, and
you know this adjustment periods. Maybe also something we didn't
consider was maybe him wanting to make some alterations possibly
(05:12):
to being in a more hitter friendly environment. I was
all in. I was higher than most people on Garrett Crochet.
I had him on mile draft team. But I said,
something is just off on the early on set, and
I thought it was good to talk about. And then
that turned into I hate Garrett Crochet, even though I'm
higher than all those fools on there. But you can
kind of see what I'm talking about when we're looking
(05:35):
at his stuff. His fastball is down year over year.
It is down a mile and a half. The forcing
fastball as a total in this game, it's actually up
it's up about a mile on the season average, but
it's still down year over year compared. Then you've got
(05:56):
the cutter. The cutter was like, you know, he wants
to throw that more, going to become devastating.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Da da Dad.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
That pitch it has less wiff on it. It's still
a solid ish pitch. But and by the way, the
VLO is down a mile and a half. And then
today's game it is it's back up to where it
was last year, which is good. But then here here's
the kicker last year and this was something I kept
talking about when he was with the White Sox. Sinker
two percent of the time he threw. This year, twelve
(06:24):
percent of the time. He's forcing cutter sinker. Last year
he was forcing cutter with a little bit more sweeper.
So he's knocked his sweeper percentage down by four percent
a strikeout pitch. He's added in over ten percent more sinkers,
which are not strikeout pitches really, by the way, it's
more induced ground balls, which that makes sense. In your
(06:46):
more hitter friendly environment, you want to maybe bring the
ball down, so you want to compliment with a sinker
and then the cutters and forcing fastball are solid, but
they're not inducing. So that's my whole deal is it
still doesn't white look like the crazy strikeout stuff is there.
And today as we're recording this, it is only what
(07:06):
are we in the second? Third? Second?
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Right now?
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Okay, he's he's gone through two innings.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
It's given up four walks in four ernies.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Don't love that. And guess what eighteen percent with freight
his cutter, no whiffs, fastball and sinker and change up
a tiny bit. It doesn't look good and he's not
throwing strikes. Everything's under fifty percent zone percentage. Something is
weird about Crochet, But I never wanted too many tinkering.
I don't know if it's too much tinkering, but like
(07:39):
my I never gave an application to do anything with
Crochet because you invested so much. But I was like, hey,
it's something to monitor. Something is weird about him. If
you're kind of scared for the ride and you could
sell high, maybe there is something. But I'm still invested
the tinkering. To me, the problem is what I just said.
He added a ton of more sinker and lowered his sweeper,
so you you are throwing a pitch that in theory
(08:02):
is going to induce more contact that you can get
that just gets out, and you got rid of a
strikeout pitch. And by the way, a sinker two fourteen
batting average against but a three twenty two expected batting
average against. Like so he I it looks like he
is scrapped down a tiny bit of the of the
swing and miss stuff, and unfortunately everything is kind of
(08:26):
down a tiny bit. Cutter and for a sinker enforcing
fastball are not quite what they were last year. So
again I don't know what the application is.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
What do you say percentage on the sinker was last
year two percent?
Speaker 2 (08:38):
He threw it. He's throwing at twelve percent of the
time so far this year.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
And it's getting it's not getting hit, but it should
be getting smashed its.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Expect guess what also the cutter one ninety batting average
against two forty eight expected batting average that also had
a thirty three percent with rate last year twenty eight
this year. And if you want strikeout percentages, thirty two
p K percentage last year, the cutter was twenty five
percent this year, so that is also down. So it's
(09:07):
just like, you know, maybe it might equate to him
being like a good, you know, great pitcher still, but
maybe he's not the top five guy, and maybe maybe
he's not gonna lead the league in strikeouts, Like I
don't know, it looks it looks just weird early on.
I believe in him and I like it, but this
is not good. Fifty seven pitches through two and one third.
(09:27):
He is back up right now, three strikeouts, two walks,
four earned four earned runs, and he is maybe gonna
make it to the fifth if he's lucky, if he
is efficient, but he hasn't been. It took him over
fifty pitches to get through two innings. So, yeah, silly
Welsh for even talking about Garrett Crochet, even bringing it up,
by the way, what a silly, silly goose I am.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Let's just say that. Also, Welsh is very upset because
he may or may not have bet on Garrett Crochet today.
So opening up a couple old wounds here, Garrett Crochet
struggling a little bit we don't like.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Also, I bet I bet the under on runs scored
for Seattle in Boston, freaking Brian wu and Garrett Crochet.
They gave up. They get this died in the second
inning over five, five runs, a hit in the second inning.
It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Yeah, Bregman added up one bomb in there has been
good for Boston. But yeah, that's tough starts for Crochet.
We don't like it.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Don't quite love that. Do love all the other stuff.
Love talking with you guys Patreon in this league dot
com sign up today. I am working very hard. It's
very difficult today. I'm probably gonna do it tonight at
the hotel. But the Prospect and Dynasty ranks needs the update.
It's kind of set. But then I got this travel
thing that I'm getting out, so I'm gonna try to
get this out tonight, so be on the lookout for
(10:47):
it on Friday as a post. But we got Prospect ranks,
we got Dynasty ranks. Prospect ADPs are out there. Those
are fun. Plus I got my weekly article that preps

community live streams. Bogman's got a live stream going on

this league dot com, and by the way, you should
(11:31):
if you have a chance, definitely check out the first
day of the NFL live stream to see the absolute
Fire shirt that Bom Bogman is wearing. You look like
you look like you need to be going on like
NFL network type of love. I love this shirt.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Yeah, I think it's pretty funny because you you've been
critical about my outfits recently in fun of my you
made fun of my combo on Monday, and today you
coming in swinging saying you love this shirt. Yeah. My
mommy bought me this shirt, of course, very nice of her.
So yeah, it's it's one of those where you know,
(12:05):
you throw it's like a brand that I haven't worn
before you throw it on, You're like, damn, this looks
this fits kind of nice. I'm gonna go ahead and
buy a bunch more of these so appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Not too shabby, not too shabby. By the way, we'll
give the flowers due Crochet did have a very efficient
third inning, got out of it. He's sixty one through three,
did not have any big blow up there.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
But what about his quadrants? Well, share we gonna talk
about his quadrants and the strikes.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
We're gonna look at them at some point. I don't
have time today because I got to do this show
and then I have to record a video that can
play on leading off tomorrow to Mike Mayor. You know,
I got an idea. Actually, I got an idea for
the video, So make sure you check out Friday. I
won't be there, but I'm gonna kind of be there.
Let's talk about a few of the things that are
going on. By the way, can we speak of flowers?
(12:52):
Just Corbyn Carroll, Let's just say the name again, just
Corbyn Carroll. Corbyn Carroll is best.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Player, doesn't matter to Homer, still lose.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Yeah, it's a I'm a bullpen though, corn. Until Corban
could start throwing the eighth of the ninth, we're gonna
probably have a problem and maybe also manage the team
with Tory Lovello being gone, but until then we at
least have Corbyn Carroll, and in the future at some
point we'll have could tell Marte back with her. But
Corbyn Carroll is he is a gift that keeps on giving.
And I think I told this on the show. I
(13:21):
mentioned that there's a guy that had hit me up
like a week or so ago and was like, hey,
I got this offer to get Marcus, Simeon and Soto,
but I had to give up Carol and then like
jorgesel A or something, and I was like, listen, it's
a good trade. I totally understand it. I personally would
not do that because of what Carol looks like right now.
But I'm you're not making a bad move. So he
(13:42):
does it. And then and then Carol had like the
three stolen base game or whatever, and I just I
message him the I emojis and then he hit me back.
And this is someone I'd never talked to before, and
he was like, He's like, this is so cool. You're
like talking to me. Appreciate that. But he's like, I
gotta be honest with you. I'm having a little bit
of a regret right now.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Yeah, no, it'll it'll get out it'll I.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Mean, I don't have a five month but like it's still.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
You still got Juan Soto. You're doing fine, right, but
it's just Carol is white hot right now, so of
course you're having regret. But yeah, that's a look for
the long term. This is a good deal. You know,
all the annoying tropes you want to say, but it
sucks when you trade a guy when he's white hot
and he just stays hot after you trade him. That's
(14:27):
it hurts sometimes. But I still think that's probably fair.
You said it was Redraft.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
I I think it was Dynasty.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Dynasty, it might have been Redraft. I mean yeah, I
mean it's kind of it's kind of even either way.
But I think that's a fair deal. You didn't get
ripped or anything. Unless Corbyn hits sixty and steals fifty
then yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Well, I mean it looks like he's in a Steel
twelve this season. He just refuses to start stealing bases.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Against need to face mcguel my a.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Go to the A's go again that nine base. Let's
get that. Speaking of the A's, a couple young or
rookie just performances. Nick Kurt's official debut which was awesome.
Weren't we doing the show live when Nick Kurtz got
the call up? He yeah, we were doing the Monday.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
It was a little bit of a bummer because theoretically
he was going to make that debut and it could
have been on my birthday and that would have been super.
But then he they just get Joe lost his mind
because I told him. I was like, well, what they
said is they're calling him up and they're giving him
a day to acclimate, and he turned into old man Joe.
He's like, what are you talking about. I don't know.
(15:42):
I was like, just calm down, like we're good, and
it was It was also you know, Spider Man ak
Patrick Corbyn was on the mound and he kind of
did the business again, so they let him sit. But
he got in his first game and he got his
first hit, first RBI. Also his first embarrassment. He was
trying to catch a fly ball and ripped over the
pitching mound and like hit the ground and it was
(16:03):
like it was pretty bad. But Nick Kurtz in the lineup,
and they also confirm to us he's just not long
term gonna sit versus lefties, So that's great, he's not
going to be a platoon. They also said that they
are going to experiment with soda Strom in the outfield
as well, So Rooker and Sodastrom. Soda Strom is going
to be wild if because he's also going to catch,
he could have catcher, first base, and outfield. He could
(16:24):
be like massively valuable in leagues if he has all
of that position eligibility. So we'll see when it happens.
But they're going to play Kurts every day. This is
why we play the game bugs, this is why we
do it to get guys like him that are going
to be out there all the time. And that first
bat looks solid man.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
Fun to watch. It's funny that you say, you know,
he tripped over the mound and stuff. I was like,
he kind of looks a little Welshish out there. He's
a tall dude, big big boy, like, uh he's and obviously.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
I was like fit if I was like a bit more.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Fit, tripping over the Tripping over the mound is an
ultimate Welsh move to number one. Most well, he's your
spirit animal right now? Like that is Uh, it's pretty funny, dude.
Nicky Kurtz looks like he's gonna be a lot.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Of fember watch to say his name correctly. You go,
Nick Space Space Space kurts.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
No, it's gonna be nicky for me from now on.
It's gonna be Nicki Kurtz. Okay, Nick right, Nick Niki?
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Yeah, the must pick up and out there, and there's
a million questions on him, and you know, everyone's trying
to make it is amazing how every single human being
has Nick Kurtz, Tyler Schoders, from Spencer toorkals and Tristan Casses,
Like every human being has those guys. And they're like,
who do I cut? And it's like, I don't know.
You know, Cossus is starting to kind of bounce back.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Yeah, they had what they do. They told him to
move his hands away from his body. He goes yard
last night like he just looks way better. Slight adjustment.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
He's a great player. He's a great player. Another young
guy that came up Augustine Ramirez or Augustine Ramirez with
Miami Marlins. He's had a cut couple of games in here.
I mean the numbers look stupid because he's hitting eight hundred,
but so far the profile looks great. There's going to
be a lot more swing and missing his game. As
I've kind of mentioned to people, but as you know
(18:11):
my like Layman's report to everybody who was listen, he
hits the ball really hard. He's sneaky athletic. He consistently
hits the ball hard. And you've seen some of those
stolen bases and what's happening. Fifty percent hard hit, sixteen
percent barrel. He's attempted two stolen bases, got one. He's walking.
He just hasn't struck out yet. He's going to level out.
But I just did my what is it, the the
(18:37):
rest of season? Yeah, the rest of season ranks for
fantasy pros. I put Ramierans at catcher fourteen right now,
and that might be selling it a little bit short,
but that's a starter in a fifteen team.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Yeah, I mean he has come up. He's looked good.
He's got a loud swing. That bat gets super high
on the finish too. It's just very interesting. I haven't
seen much of him before, but yeah, he is. He's
hitting the crap out of the ball. Helping me in
one of my leagues out a couple of guys go down,
got to bring up Ramirez and he's filling in for
(19:10):
me quite nicely, So qualifying catcher is amazing. Let's go.
So that looks good so far, so let's end this.
Marlin's lineup is not as bad as we thought coming
in either, like we did. I know, it was one
of those things where we looked at it. I think
you had the tweet on opening Day like this is
one of the worst opening day lineups I've ever seen, and.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
It still looks like it, but you're one hundred percent
it's so much better than what's on.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Nervis is hitting right now, like he did this before
and then disappeared for three years or whatever or two seasons.
So we've seen this from Nervis before. But he's hitting
very well. And I think the top of the lineup's okay, right,
So you know.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Norby, Nervis is there, Hazus, Sanchez is back, You got
Ramirez up, there's other guys I mean.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
In Norby and Sanchez came back.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
That's right, right To be honest with you, like, be
better to go and pull up my tweet about the
Marlins and look at kind of how they've played. Then
it would be to even what do you think I
didn't like Crochet.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
What do you think that? What do you what do
you think the Marlins rank in terms of teams for
batting average this year so far?
Speaker 2 (20:19):
I Edward's gonna hold that up. I'm gonna say they are.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Twenty They're fourth fourth, and batting average goes the Cubs,
the Cards, the Padres, and the Marlins.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
They have a higher batting average than the Diamondbacks. To
wellthy held that.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Down well and you Hananeo and Lords. So there's some
there are two fifty. They're ten points behind their ninth.
Let me look at I think ISO, Yeah, I sow
they're twenty fourth. Are they striking out a bunch? Strikeout rate?
The Marlins are twenty second. Walk rate they are twenty third,
(20:59):
so like they're they're not walking, they're not hitting for
extra bases. They're striking out a decent amount. But the
average is okay. The average is doing pretty good. Their
backpip is first by a lot. By the way, their
batpip is three twenty nine. They're first in the bigs.
Saint Louis second at three seventeen, so a little luck.
(21:19):
But also these guys are playing some station to station,
which means they need to get on stealing some bases here.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Dude, both the Florida teams, the Rays in the Marlins
have had just some sneaky fantasy options from you know, Meisner,
Mangam and Chandler Simpson, and then you come over to
the Marlins and it's like, I mean, Norby's not really sneaky,
but like Nervous has been sneaky, and we've had there
someone else. I mean, I like Edwards and and the
likes are decent, but you know there's some fantasy value
(21:49):
that can be had at Ramirez is one of those.
Day listen Davison Delasanto's we'll see pretty soon, so not
too bad. Speaking of the Marlins also, Max Meyer just
want to throw this out here. I think one of
the so the next two weeks, I think next week
we're gonna do a rank update show where I'm gonna
go through it cause it's kind of like it's just
about a first month. I'll go through and redo, like
(22:11):
here's what the top you know, twelve or fifteen are. Positionally,
that's what we'll do as a focus. The one after that,
we'll probably look at the month of stats as we do,
and we break those down. So I don't even know
if we'll have guess the next two weeks because we're
be focusing on that. But I one struggle I'm really
having is how high do you go with Max Meyer?
Because he looks incredible. Thirty four percent k percentage, walk
(22:33):
rate is down two ERA expected is still in the threes,
so that's fine. But you've got nasty slider that's up
over a mile per hour so far this year with
a fifty percent WIF rate by the way he throws
out as the number one pitch. You've got the four
seam fastball, which is up a mile per hour so
far this year, and it is it's taking the brunt
(22:55):
of batting average, but nothing else is getting hit. And
his change up and it's one fifty four batting average against.
It was two twenty three last year. So it's like
the two big WIF pitches are even better. The fastball
is harder. Max Meyer looks absolutely like just locked in.
He's getting hit kind of hard because of the fastball,
but it's just not amounting to anything. I just don't know.
(23:16):
Is he a top forty, is he a top thirty?
At this point? Who would you rather have? Luis Castillo
or Max Meyer? Zach Gallen or Max Meyer.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
Yeah, didn't we just do Zach Gallen versus Max Meyer?
Would we do that? I think they did that a
couple weeks or a couple of shows.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
It was Shane Boz versus Uh. I thought it was Bos.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Versus Os versus radn Oh, that one I do remember,
because Boz went out and got smashed for Donna.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
I think you were Gallon at that time. Have you changed?
Speaker 3 (23:42):
I No, I don't think I've changed quite yet. But
this is I mean, Max Meyer has been incredible. You're right?
Uh eer is under what is it? Would you say
it is? Right now?
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Two seven point one?
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Two point one?
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Uh one?
Speaker 3 (23:56):
O seven is the whip thirtys pitch forty one strikeouts
like at Kate per nine is insane right now? Like
Max Meyer is playing really well and the Marlins are
hitting better than we expected them to as well. So
a couple of Stours is hitting two ninety one so far.
By the way, Dane Myers is hitting two eighty six.
(24:18):
Eric Wagman, who you made fun of earlier this year
is hitting two seventy four or three bombs like they're
putting it together on offense. So he has a chance
for some wins right now as well. So yeah, Meyer
is definitely moving way up right now.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
It looks very very impressive. The rank thing is going
to be a really big question, and it'll be fun.
It'll be fun to do that next week as we
kind of like relook or you know, like what is
rest of season? Trying to count for rest of season
value guys that are returning and like, really, you know,
good performances. Where were Gyrett Crochet going this as well?
Gret Crochet, by the way into the third inning, our
(24:53):
Crochet look as we're going here, very interesting about Leo Revas.
It's been all fastballs, four seams, two straight sinkers, which
he's not throwing his for steam for strikes.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
I want the quadrants, Give me the quadrants.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
And he just gave up a hit to Leo Rivas
on the cutter. No big deal. Take a little looky
at that, all right, Joe Rico in here. Let's plow
through a little bit of the news and notes a
lot of injury stuff as there kind of always is.
Cory Seger plays on the io with a hamstring strain.
You and Joe just reveling that stuff.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
I don't revel in it. I have a seger in
a keeper league. I don't want him to go down,
but it's just almost an inevitability at this point. It's
going to happen every single.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Year he's thanos his injuries. I am inevitable. Yeah, another
kind of inevitable one. This is the biggest worry it
could be. It could have been a head like head headline,
but Blake Snell was shut down with renewed shoulder discomfort.
So when he threw he said he still didn't feel good.
They didn't like, they didn't kill us with it. They're
(25:57):
not just like everything is falling apart. But they're gonna
to shut him down for a little bit longer.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
That's bad. That's bad. Man. I wasn't I just wasn't
hydrated enough.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Man, I drank a prime. I should have drank some gatorade.
Well I didn't do it.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Yeah. Meryl Kelly left his start the other day and uh,
they were asking him about it the next day, you know.
Todd wassh Todd Walsh, Hey, Meryl Kelly. Uh, just we're
meeting like this again.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Why does he do that? Yeah? Todd Walsh is like
the like the logo reporter.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
He's like a golf guy.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
It feels like he just goes we're here with Meryl Kelly. Meryl,
how did you feel going to Desert Mountain High School
with Bagwin and the Welsh?
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Yeah, actually we graduated like eight years before he got there.
But uh yeah, this, uh uh, these these they asked
him about.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
What was the point you.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Said, no, no, well yeah, they asked him about. He's
because he was left with cramps, and he's like, I
think I'm the most hydrated human being ever in the
history of the world. So there's no way it's hydration.
It cannot be. It just made me immediately thought I
had to be I had to be rated man. But yeah,
it's not good. Renewed shoulder soreness is not good. But
(27:05):
I think what they're gonna do is that, Okay, obviously
we push him a little bit too fast. Let's give
him another two weeks, call him back, see if he
can throw it in without the soreness. I don't think
this is something you go back for another MRI if
he's just sore and it's not like killing him or anything.
But we're gonna get I think no news in the
next couple of weeks. Is good news for Blake's now,
(27:28):
but it's not great.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
It's also not good. None of it's really super great,
is to be honest with you. Edwin Diaz was removed
Wednesday with a hip cramp. Weird thing too. By the way,
did you see the story where it was like team
officials like just looked at him and realized his legs
were different sizes, like one leg, one leg was longer
than the other. Like, what did you hear about that?
Speaker 3 (27:50):
I mean, I think everybody has that right, Like I don't.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Know new thing, but you're just like looking over, You're
just looking around.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
I don't think you can eyeball it for most people,
but I think everyone has like like, hey, slightly longer leg.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Hey, Jim, his right legs a little bit longer. He's like,
oh my god, Bill, you're right about that.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
What do we do?
Speaker 4 (28:09):
What do you do?
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Like extra insult like you have like a a platform on.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Your shoe diatrists, I have no idea. Yeah you figured
it out, is what I would say. Uh, just figure
Quentin Tarantino would know exactly what to do. But indeed,
but yeah, he left with shoulder discomfort too, like some
of these closers I feel like if these two guys
get hurt and miss an extended period of time, you know,
(28:35):
two of the top closers everyone next year, because Devin
Williams has been great either like everyone is going to
be like, don't ever take a closer next year. I
feel like we're gonna get the the over correction.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Yeah, I agree with that. Kate Smith also is kind
of like a must pickup range. It's weird because I
think you should be looking at from the closer market.
I'm into will Vest. I think we had mentioned, man,
there was someone we were just talking about today that
oh it's oh Ryan porter Hodge. Porter Hodge just got
(29:06):
the save after Presley hadn't pitched in Sunday. I think
will Ves porter Hodge are really good. But also like
Kate Smith should be in there just in case this.
If it's really Shoulder discovered that there's something worse, Kate
Smith probably comes a top ten closer if he takes
over for him. If Diaz is out. Really not even sure,
I'd have to go look, you hit up closer monkey,
figure out who the hell the closer is going to
(29:28):
be in New York. But we have to look out
for it. But he's probably gonna keep having hip issues
if his if he's all like googly.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Stick man, Yeah, wells drew one leg too long on him.
I'm pretty good artist problem. I'm pretty good, way better
than me.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
I got smart. Paula Lopez should be back this week.
I believe he's going to be put up. And we
dodged a big bullet Chris Sanchez. They are not doing
an MRI because it just doesn't like me and Rico,
we're talking about like maybe you should just do it
just for the sake of it, but they said, like
no matter what, like it wasn't there was no structural damage.
(30:04):
They felt saw nothing and they're not going to go
for an MRI. No more testing. And the next day
Sanchez said he felt better, so that's good. He should
be back out there. A couple others. Spencer Strider back
on the io with a hamstring strain. Luckily it's on
an arm, so I think we agree with that, and
we dodged a bullet on that one. George Kirby's going
to be facing hitters this week, and I believe it's
(30:25):
going to be in Seattle because he was here in Arizona.
And then I think as I was told he left,
So I'm not really sure what that's going to be. Like,
maybe they're going to send him out to just like
the Tacoma to do a rehab start from Seattle. So
it looks like the timeline is moving up a little bit.
Ajpuck he's done, Like I'm if he's not done, I
will be shocked. Elbow MRI second and third opinions are needed. Yeah,
(30:52):
almost always, Tommy John when you need the second and third.
So AJ Puck has done though, thankfully Justin Martin and
that's unofficial by the way, but thanksfully Justin Martinez looks
to be okay.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
And he came out bits us night. Yeah, yeah, so
he's okay. But yeah, that uh that really sucks, right,
J Puck and actually just came down. CJ Abrams activated today, Okay.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Yeah he was in uh yeah, he was in Triple A.
Jared Jones is getting another MRI this week, gonna start
probably a throwing program. Also, Grayson Rodriguez had I think
a little bit of discomfort going on as well. So
two guys that have been out for a while. We
also say as Suzuki was scratched with some soreness. Lane
Thomas placed on the isle with a castro on the
il Mason Wynn activated. Those are a couple things. Also
(31:35):
a couple of prospect the things. Jace Young was called
up by the Tigers, David Festo was sent down today.
That could be Zebbie Matthews coming soon and Craig Yoho.
People are speculating he could like immediately jump into Saves.
I kind of just don't think so. I think they
would go to Abner before him. But he's super interesting
in the speculation market. So that's a bunch of the injuries.
Those are the stuff and the things, And guess what,
(31:56):
you get more stuff in things with Scott Bogman and
Joe Welsh will shut the hell up and gone and
out of here. Rejoice amongst all of you and enjoy
the Joe Rico and Scott Bogman show coming up after this.
And then we got voicemails. I will be back for that. Hey,
in this league, look at us?
Speaker 4 (32:15):
Who would have thought not me?
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Not me?
Speaker 5 (32:17):
Me?
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Who would have thought not me?
Speaker 5 (32:19):
Not me?
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Who would have thought me? All right?
Speaker 3 (32:33):
Up on the guest line on the in This League
Fantasy Baseball podcast, it is Joe Alrico at Joe Rico
ninety nine on the tweeters, the exes, whatever we're calling it.
I think the Blue Skies as well, right, Joey. So yeah,
we're gonna talk some fantasy baseball. Have you been my friend.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
I've been fantastic, man. It's great when we get to
catch up. No Welsh today. I talk with Welsh enough.
It's going to just catch up with you, my friend.
But yeah, Blue Sky is for me pretty much.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Dad.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
I gotta be honest and remember to post uff on there.
But it's pretty much just the Twitter X machine at
this point.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
I made one. I think I've gone back to it
like three times. I have not done much with it.
I don't do a lot with X either. I'm not
the best social media person, you know. I send funny
memes on I send funny reels on Instagram. That is
like my main social media. I should be way better
at it, but I am not. But today I have
some of ranks for the rest of the season. It's
(33:26):
going to be interesting to see what Joe says about
some of these. And then I have some statements I'm
gonna make and you're just gonna tell me. On a
scale of one to ten, how much do you agree
with this statement? Some of them I do believe, some
of them I don't believe. It's just things I've been hearing.
So it will be interesting to get your responses. Let's
start with ranking some of these guys for the rest
(33:47):
of the season. We're gonna start in the outfield. Cedric
Mullens is off to an insane start, hitting two ninety seven,
six bombs, four swipes. OBP is four forty one Bapep
is an insane three fourteen. The ISOs insane three to eleven.
Is not gonna last.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
We know that.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
But Mike Trout is in here as well, and he
has eight homers on fourteen hits. He has more homers
than he has singles, which probably ain't gonna last either.
His batting average is one sixty nine, the ISO is
three to zho one, but he is striking out almost
at thirty percent right now. He's still walking, which is nice,
(34:29):
but he is not getting hits. And the last one is,
let's just throw a wrench into this with a steady
Eddy that's a little underperforming right now, but it's Ian
Halp two sixty eight twenty one runs, two homers, only
one swipe only thirteen RBIs uh, but you know he
is kind of I would say he's the stable one
out of this group. I feel like we know we're
(34:50):
gonna get He offers you the highest floor. I think
Mullins has the highest ceiling. Maybe not. Maybe it is Trout,
but I'm not a Trout guy. Welsh and I have
gone back and forth on this all offseason. I love him,
He's one of the best players I've ever seen play
the game, but I don't trust that he's going to
stay healthy with this degenerative back issue, so I don't
(35:12):
have him anywhere. What are your thoughts in ranking Mullins, Trout,
and Hap for the rest of the season. What is
your order?
Speaker 4 (35:20):
I'm kind of with you with Trout. I don't trust
him as far as I could throw him, which is
not very far. I would honestly put Ian Happ at
the top of the list, which a lot of people
might think is kind of crazy. But I just got
through listening to Justin Mason breakdown Cedric Mullins. And for
those who are, you know, students of the fantasy world,
they'll remember that Justin was a huge Cedric Mullins fan
A few years ago, and even he's not that interested
(35:42):
in him this year. So the big thing is, if
you look at what he's doing against left handed pitching,
it's kind of remarkable. This season, Cedric Mullins is hitting
three point eighty nine against lefties. He has a as
I lose my place on fan grafts, thirteen hundred ops
against left handed pitching so far this season. For his
career against lefties, he has a two to twenty eight
(36:04):
batting average in a six fifty five OHPS. So this
feels like something that's not going to continue. Obviously, I
don't think Mullens is gonna be bad. I think Mullens
can give you like twenty homers, potentially even thirty stolen bases.
But you know, he's probably a big cell high right
now if you're in a trading league, if you can
capitalize on what he's done so far, if you're looking
at WRC plus across Major League Baseball, he's the third
(36:25):
among all players in WRC plus. It's it's absolutely bananas
now With Trout, I don't want to be Debbie Downer,
but he's probably going to get hurt at some point.
He probably is gonna get hurt he's hitting for power,
but he's also hitting below two hundred. It's kind of
odd the way that he's transitioned these last couple of years,
more selling out for power, not hitting for his hive
have a batting average. It's not a good lineup, and
(36:45):
I just don't really trust him to stay healthy. And
then we have, like you said, Steady Eddie at the
end here, Ian Hap, who every year for the last
three seasons has given you a one to twenty WRC
plus or better twenty one homers, fourteen steals, seventeen homers,
nine steels, twenty five and thirteen very consistent in a
lineup that is fantastic. The Cubs lineup has been really good.
(37:06):
They just scored eighteen runs in a two game series
against the Dodgers. And I think Ian Happ is the
guy who's going to be leading off, probably more often
than not in that lineup. Is the guy that I
would take here, So I would go Hap, Trout and
then probably Cedric Mullins at the back end of it.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
All right, And yeah, you're not Debbie Downe, You're Tommy
Truth over here talking about my trout probably missing some games.
So I'm absolutely with you. Yeah, I think I would
go man, I think I would go hap Mullins Trout,
just because I think Trout's gonna miss games, so I
would probably switch it up just a little bit. I
(37:40):
have held on to I held on to Mullins too long.
I had some good offers. I should have traded him
a while back, shout out to my boy Guthrie, but
did not do it. And now I'm kind of paying.
But you know, we'll see this one Welsh and I
I feel like have done this like three weeks in
a row, and we keep changing our hands. Sure, but
(38:00):
Tyler Soderstrom, Spencer Torkelsen, Ben Rice, it is a tough
one to rearrange here because Soderstrom is insane. I mean,
the ISOs three twenty sixty is nine bombs, nineteen runs,
nineteen RBI two eighty three. It's not even the summer
officially yet, So that ballpark is going to do wonders
(38:21):
for everyone's power in uh in Sacramento there, And this
is the kind of the torque that we thought we
were getting a couple of years ago. To sixty four
average seven homers, seventeen runs, twenty one RBI, OBP is
three seventy three right now. The backpep is not insane.
It's only three zero four, a little higher than his
career of two seventy one. But he's having a great year.
(38:43):
And then Ben Rice from the top rope. I mean,
this guy is crazy outside of elbow injuries. He's in
two eighty eight, seventeen runs, which he had twenty in
fifty games last year. Six homers he had seven in
fifty games last year, and eleven RBI's I even got
two swipes. And his OBP is over four hundred and
four to two right now, and he hits in a
(39:05):
good lineup and a good ballpark. I don't know. I
think when I look at it, I say, okay, I
think the talent, the most talented is Torque to me,
so I have him at one. Really it's between Sodastrim
and Rice for that second spot. For me, it's it's
a little coin flippe. I want to say Rice, I
(39:28):
feel like I just I love his patients at the plate.
He's really locked in right now. I would say if
one is over performing in the most it's him, and
I feel like for Sodastrim too. If I'm going to
be negative about one of these guys. I feel like
the average is going to come back down earth, so
maybe not. What are your thoughts on these three guys?
Speaker 4 (39:48):
This is like if you ever anybody ever seen the
movie back in the Day, Sophie's Choice or you Gotta
choose between your kids. This is kind of that kind
of situation for me. I love all of these guys
so much. I think that he is going to essentially
repeat what we saw in twenty twenty three. Thirty homers,
ninety five, one hundred RIBI not a great batting average,
(40:08):
but maybe in the two fifty range somewhere, maybe two
forty if you're talking about Soderstrom though, I I don't
know how much of a prisoner of the moment I
am to think that he is just like unbelievable. Like
this is especially with the ballpark. I think the ballpark
is also a big factor for me. They're playing in
a minor league ballpark and Soderstrim already having nine homers
(40:31):
before the weather's even gotten warm out there in Sacramento,
Like he could hit thirty five or forty of them
in the lineup in Oakland. Aren't in Oakland. There we go,
I'm doing that day, about once a week, about once
a week, I'm doing that. But the lineup is really solid.
Butler Rooker, Soderstrom, Shave Agaliers Bladet, Jacob Wilson brought up
They've just brought up Colonel Kurtz too. I feel like
(40:54):
for me personally, Soderstrom would be at the top of
the list, but they're so close. And Ben Rice is
I mean, he might be my personal favorite of the bunch,
leading off of the Yankees. Great power, his power metrics
like you almost have to double take when you look
at your fangrafts page. Twenty four percent barrel rate, sixty
four percent heard hit rate, average exit velocity of ninety
(41:17):
five miles an hour, stealing bases, first base, potentially even
getting catcher eligibility because they're gonna run into a situation
where Stanton's gonna come back, They're gonna need to know
jig around a little bit in terms of who's playing where.
I've heard it talked about that maybe Ben Rice picks
up a few games behind the dish, and if he's
catcher eligible as well, that would be pretty big. So I,
honest to God, have a really hard time with this one.
(41:39):
I think I would go Soderstrim, Rice and Torquosin, but
I think all three are gonna smash absolute must roster players,
potentially all three of them all stars. I mean, if
it was for the fact that they're all like the
same position. That's been a problem too, bugs is that
every breakout this year is a first basement, you know,
Aranda Michael Bush. There's so many basement that it's hard
(42:01):
for one manager to pick up all these guys. But
they're all absolute studes. I think, gun to my head
at Sodosham, Rice, Torklessen, but I love all three.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
Who do you want to trade? Like, who do you
think you get the most back for if you trade them?
Speaker 4 (42:13):
I think it's Soderstrom, just based on how hot the
start has been, and I think to your point, the
batting average is probably gonna come down a little bit,
and it already has to some extent. He's sitting in
two eighty three. There was a while there where it
was well over three hundred. So if you're trying to
trade one, or let's say you're just in a situation
where you have too many of these guys, you can't
start them all every day. Sodisham probably makes the most sense.
(42:34):
But man, I love him. I absolutely love his profile.
You're put me through my paces here. I love all
three of these guys.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Yeah, and I feel like we can do this for
a big chunk of the season. I think someone will
fall off, right, It's almost inevitable when you have three
one of them at least will fall off. But yeah,
we're gonna come back to this in like a month
and see where we're all at again. I'm sure. So
it'll be very interesting the next one. Here a couple
of second base when this one's a little different. Not
everyone's off to a hot start here. I'm gonna start
(43:03):
with Bryce rang who is off to a hot start.
Three fifty average, three bombs, eight swipes. He had seven
bombs all year last year, one hundred and fifty five games.
He's got three and twenty five already, twenty four runs,
fourteen RBI. The Batpip is insane. It's four to ten,
like we do. Think he's going to come back down
to earth, of course, but he's having a crazy start.
(43:24):
Ozzie Albi's not so much. He's hitting two thirty four.
He's got four homers, two swipes for only twelve runs.
Eleven RBI. His BATPIP is two thirty four, which is
almost sixty points below his career batpip, So we do
think he's going to come back. And then Jose al
Tuve is hitting two ninety three, He's got three homers,
(43:45):
he's got three swipes, thirteen runs, nine rbi. The whole
Astros offense outside of him was kind of took a
dump for the first month of the season. They're starting
to pick it up right now. Finally you see your
Don started hitting it. Saw Walker hit a bomb the
other day, Paradus is picking it up. Who's the Who's
the kid? Why can't I remember Kim Smith? He's he's
(44:06):
starting to hit really well now. So you know, ranking
these for the rest of the season is difficult because
Terrang is so much hotter than the other two guys.
But the other two guys in Albi's and Altuovay, costs
you so much more in draft capital. So is this
a breakout we're seeing from Terrang and we're buying in
on it, or is this a we're not doing this
(44:27):
hot month here, give me the steady vets.
Speaker 4 (44:31):
So I would still take the steady vets. I think
if I had to arrange these guys, it would be Altuve,
Albi's and Terrang. But it's a lot closer than it
would have been. And I think Terrang's breakout is very legit,
And it's funny if you look at player raiders, especially
if you're an auction type of player, if you're looking
at second baseman. This season, Terrang has been worth thirty
three dollars the next most valuable second baseman twenty two.
(44:53):
He's been just many moons better than anybody else who's
eligible at second base. But the thing that makes me
think it's probably legit, or at least more legit than
we might have thought, is the hard hit data or
ninety three percent ninety three miles an hour average exit velocity.
When he was at eighty seven last year, he has
a eight and a half percent barrel rate when he
was at two and a half last year. He's almost
(45:14):
doubled his heart hit rate. He's hitting the ball hard
fifty percent of the time. Last year was twenty nine,
and he's already hit a ball harder this year than
he ever has in his career one oh nine point
eight on the max ev so in terms of hitting
the ball hard, he's doing things a lot better than
he ever has. Oh swing percentage, which is how much
you chase, he's chasing less. He is swinging a little
(45:34):
bit less, but he's swinging more, or excuse me, just
a slightly bit more. But in the zone he's swinging
quite a bit more. So he's swinging at better pitches.
He's making better decisions to somebody that Justin was just
pointing out to me, and I'm kind of buying into it.
I don't think that he is a huge power guy
all of a sudden, but he could steal fifty bases.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
I mean fifteen, do you?
Speaker 4 (45:53):
I mean yeah, even if he hits like twelve thirteen
homers and steals fifty bags, that's massive, especially because the
batting average is also improved at three point fifty. Right now,
the XBA is at three sixteen. So even if he
does come back to Earth, I don't think that Bryce
Terrang is a guy who's going to be on waiver
wires or anything, which is where I kind of was
thinking he was. I mean, second half last year he
(46:14):
was awful. He really was bad, and I wasn't interested
at all in draft season. I'm kicking myself over it,
and while he is still third of this bunch, in
my mind, his breakout is pretty damn legit.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
Yeah, I mean, he really did seem like a one
trick pony going into the offseason. It's like, Okay, he's
going to steal you a bunch of bases if that's
what you need around where he's going, but you have
to make up power later. Well, if you don't have
to make up power and you don't have to make
up average for him, yeah, like you said, thirty three
dollars player right now, so it makes a lot of sense.
So he is still last for you, though, How do
(46:46):
you order Albi's in Altuove?
Speaker 4 (46:48):
I would put Altuve at the top. I came into
the year I was probably the only person who did this.
I had al Tuova ahead of Ked del Marte in
my second base rankings.
Speaker 3 (46:56):
I just didn't do that. You're insane. What are you doing?
Speaker 4 (46:58):
Come on, I'm insane, But look, hey so far? No, no,
I mean, Martin's been injured. I'm not taking it. No victory,
no April victory laps. I've learned my lesson many many
years ago. I'll still probably take one or two, but
I shouldn't Altuve is just really steady every year. The profile,
you know, never screams that he's going to be a
big power guy. He's getting older, but he just seems
to do excuse me, he seems to just do it
(47:20):
every single year, and he has been doing it again
with Ketl. With Ketl Marte, I just kind of thought
it was a little bit of a blip on the radar,
a massive career year that we were having to buy into.
In the second round, I had him as my number
two guy. But I'm still sticking with Altuve at the top.
There I'll be is. You know, he's been disappointing, but
like you mentioned, you know, he's got a few homers,
(47:40):
a couple of steals. He's still in a very good lineup.
The lineup is going to get Ronald Acunya back very soon,
so there's no real.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
A whole year. Yeah, no, they start recently, but.
Speaker 4 (47:52):
Yeah, they have turned it around, but they kind of
carried over their struggles from last year and a lot
of people started saying, oh my god, is it going
to be another down year for the whole Braves lineup
except for Azuna, Because again Ozuna the only one who
was good last year and this year he's been great again.
Things will start to come together. I mean, we're gonna
talk about one of the Braves in the second here,
who's also turned things around a little bit. Austin Reiley
got it like a little bit of a slow start
(48:13):
and then had a you know, a couple of big games.
So I'm not really worried about the offense as a whole.
I think the Braves are gonna be fine. If this
happens again for the whole year and they struggle again
for the whole season, then maybe we're gonna have to talk.
But I am going Altuve, Albi's and Terrang. But Albi's
and Terreng is probably a lot closer than I would
have imagined it would have been a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
Interesting. Interesting. We'll have another question on Terreng in a
minute here, all right, Speaking of victory laps here, I
mean jung Ulee. You know, I'm not taking one yet.
He got hurt last year and couldn't play the rest
of the season after thirty seven games. So through twenty
four though, hitting three thirty three, he's got three bombs,
three swipes, twenty one runs, fifteen RBI, the batpibs high
(48:53):
three sixty four, but he looks good. I put in
kind of a floor guy here again, Brian Reynolds, who
hit two sixty three, three homers, one swipe, eleven runs
and thirteen RBI. But Michael Harris, I'm putting in this
group as well, cost you more than those other two
U He still has three homers and four swipes, which
is nice, but he's only hitting two thirty three. Bappitp
(49:14):
is super low two fifty seven in his career is
three twenty six. You know, part of that Braves lineup
we were just talking about that just has not looked
right yet. I know, our boy Pisapia was a big
Harris hater coming into the year, and it felt like
he wasn't the only one. There was definitely a camp
of people that just didn't We're not really buying what
Michael Harris was selling. And you know, again, you don't
(49:36):
want to do victory laps if you're them either right now,
because Harris has a full you know, five months or
whatever to make this work. But Jung hou Lee looks
strong right now. Brian Reynolds looks kind of meh right now.
But we know he's gonna go on a nice hot
streak here, and Michael Harris is down in the dumps,
So how do you order these guys for the rest
(49:56):
of the season.
Speaker 4 (49:57):
At the risk of reacting too much to early Sam sizes,
Jung Huley is the top dog Woo for me, just
slightly ahead of Harris. And I was not like my
sometimes co host tomorrow will be my co host Joe
Piezapia in that I hated Michael Harris or anything. I
actually really like Michael Harris. But Jung Hoolee has just
been on another level. And there's nothing in his game
(50:18):
to me that screams like this is gonna come crashing
down to Earth's three sixty four babbitt. Okay, look at
what he was doing in Korea all those years, three
sixty five, three ninety three, fifty two, three seventy three.
His profile is gonna lead to a higher babbit. He's
not the fastest guy in the world, but he's gonna
chip in a few steals. He already has three of
them on four attempts so far. So you're gonna get
a little bit of speed, You're not gonna get a
(50:38):
ton of power, especially in that ballpark. If there's anything
that San Francisco's gonna do is gonna kill left handed power.
But the ballpark is also gonna lead itself to more
extra base hits, just based on the dimensions. And we've
already seen Lee have three homers and he's got a
couple of triples as well, uh, to go along with
already ten doubles, which is just it seems crazy. But
he's hitting three thirty three. I don't think he's gonna
sustain that necessarily, but I think rest of the way
(50:59):
he can probably hit between two ninety and three hundred
and be somebody who's in in contention, I should say
for the batting title in the National League. Probably give you,
you know, ten or twelve homers, ten or twelve steals,
but he's gonna score one hundred runs. He's already got
twenty one runs through twenty four games. That lineup is
not amazing, but the team has done very well so far.
Once Wliadamis picks it up, I have no concerns for them.
(51:21):
So I would put Lee at the top, Michael Harris second,
because it's still a very strong lineup and like we've mentioned,
you know, three homers, four steals in twenty four games.
You're gonna pro rate that. It's I'm not gonna do
the math in my head right now. I can get
it wrong, but it's really solid. So it's like one
fifth of the season, roughly one sixth of the season.
So you're talking like twenty homers, twenty five stolen bases.
(51:42):
That's about what you were expecting. Now, the batting average
being at two thirty three isn't great, but like you mentioned,
two fifty seven on the Babbitt three twenty six for
his career. You know, it's not always quite that easy.
But I think that Harris is still Like if you
look at the rest of season projections on fangrafts, the
lowest rest of season projected batting average is from steamer
at two seventy six, and I think we'd take that,
you know, maybe a little lower than you were hoping for,
(52:04):
but he's a two eighty two career hitter. If he
hit two eighty five this season, I don't think anybody's
gonna be surprised. It's still a very small sample, but
Lee has been so impressive that I would probably still
put him ahead at this point. And then nothing against Reynolds.
He's just the boring one of this tier. He's a
high floor. But that lineup in Pittsburgh, oh my god,
it's awful. I can't watch Pirates games. I don't. It
(52:25):
would have to be like, you know, Scooble's pitching against him,
or if Skeins is on the bomp or something. But
it's hard to watch that team. They are bad. Reynalds' third,
Harris a second, and jung Houli at the top.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
For me, you don't want to see Tommy fan fight
with a bunch of fans. Come on, there's a lot
of funny.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
That was pretty funny. He was due, he was due
for something.
Speaker 3 (52:43):
Stand that guy. But look, he takes his craft very seriously.
He's a professional baseball player for sure, but he does
not like the people he plays in front up at all.
Let's talk about some pitchers, and I kind of have
to put you to the test here with your boy
the three pitchers. We have our Logan Web who's having
an incredible season. He started six games, three and one,
(53:05):
thirty six and a third, forty four strikeouts, only ten walks.
His era is one nine eight, his sierra is only
two and a half. His whip is one one zero
K per nine is the highest of his career at
ten point nine highest you know, strikeout percentage at thirty
point eight two point four eight on the walk percentage
or walk per nine is a little bit higher than
(53:27):
he's had the past few seasons, seven percent a little
bit higher as well. Then Hunter Green, who did get
you know, a dose of reality against Baltimore the other day.
Before that, everyone was putting him in cy Young ads
Zy Young odds. He's two and two thirty and two
thirds thirty five strikeouts, only six walks. His era is
(53:48):
two three five, his sierras just above three. The whip
is zero point seven eight because he's walking nobody one
point seven to six walks per nine that's five point
one percent CSW is the best he's ever had. Swinging
strike rate is the best he's ever had. And then
your boy de Grom only four starts for him, twenty
(54:09):
one and two thirds zho to one, twenty strikeouts the
strikeout the K per nine is eight three to one
strikeout percentage of twenty three percent, walking more than he
typically does as well. This two point nine to one
is not crazy, but it would be his highest in
his career. Eight percent would be his highest by a
pretty significant margin, and his Sierra is three nine four.
(54:30):
So you know, we've heard Justin Mason has told us
all so many times about guys coming off TJ and
their first full year back and control and all that
we expected a little more from de Grom he pitched
at the end of last year. It just hasn't looked
right though. The vlow has been down as well. So
when you're ordering these guys, these guys are probably I
(54:52):
probably put too high of guys here with de Grom,
but I know you were high on de Grom. So
what are your thoughts about ordering web Green into Grom here?
Speaker 4 (55:03):
It is really tricky, and you know, I've gotten myself
in all kinds of trouble. Welsh got me in trouble
when I was on leading off last week asking me
the same kind of question. And I'm gonna give the
same answer that I gave to him, and that's I'm
still taking to Grom And that is probably not a
popular opinion. But he has a three thirty eight ERA
or a three thirty two ERA and a one zero
(55:23):
six whip. That's totally totally fine. I think it's even
gonna get better than that. The main thing is the strikeouts,
and I think part of it comes to he's just
getting the feelback. You know, he was off for so long.
He came back for a couple starts at the end
of last year and then has to get shut down
again because of the off season. And now he's talked
about how he's making a much more concerted effort to
(55:44):
limit his velocity. He doesn't need to throw ninety eight
ninety nine every single pitch. He can still have success
and the ninety six to ninety seven range. And I
think that's what he's trying to do here. And there's
a part of me that thinks he is just still
trying to figure out how to pitch at that velocity
because he's been so used to throwing one hundred percent
every single time for his whole career and it hasn't
(56:04):
really worked out well in terms of thaying healthy. That
now he has really taken his body more seriously, and
I think over the course of the season we're gonna
see a healthy de Gram and still get one hundred
and fifty somewhat innings out of him. I might be nuts.
There's a good chance that I am. But I'm sticking
with my guns considering how early it is and the
fact that it hasn't been that bad. There's one bad part,
but it hasn't been like a disaster, you know.
Speaker 3 (56:23):
Right right, It hasn't been what you want. But you
know he is not sinking like a stone by any
stretch of imagination. He's still a very good picture. So
I just wanted to test you on that one because
I know that's your boy. But I love the commitment
you're you're sticking with him. I think I would probably
have him at the bottom of.
Speaker 4 (56:41):
This fair and it's totally fair, totally, and it's.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
Not because I dislike him. I have him in a
couple spots. Don't come offer me bad offers for him.
Anybody that's listening to this, but I put him at
the bottom. Is like, if you want to give me
a hundred green for him, I'll take him, you know
what I mean, Like if you want to give me
Logan Webb, I'll take him. But I still, yeah, I'm
I'm with you in that. I do think it will improve.
(57:05):
Like you said, he's getting his legs under him, he's
getting back to it, and he is adjusting a little bit,
and you know he's doing it without getting murdered, which
I think is pretty good. Yeah. Now I have some
one through ten statements for you. I'm gonna tell you
the statement. You're just gonna tell me if you agree
with it on a scale of one to ten, where
(57:26):
you're at the first one. We have already talked about him,
so we don't have to go too deep. But let's
just trade Bryce Terrain. I think it is it you
should trade him now. I know a lot of people
are saying that because they think the batting average is
going to come back down. Maybe the homers were fluky.
However you want to say it, you know what I mean.
But is this the time to trade Terrain or are
(57:47):
we keeping him because he's just giving us so much
more than we paid for him.
Speaker 4 (57:51):
Unless you're truly selling high, because sometimes that term gets
thrown around there and then somebody sends me a trade
I sold high, and it's like, no, you didn't sell high.
If somebody's actually will to pay a top fifty to
seventy five overall player for Terring, then I would think
about it. But at the same time, this has found money.
This is finding a twenty on your way to the
corner store on the ground. You know this is what's
happening with Bryce Terrank. He is so much more valuable
(58:14):
than we could have thought because of the power games,
and I think the power games are pretty legit. So
unless you're getting a great offer, I'd be inclined to
stick it out, especially because second basis is awful. It's
really a bad position. If this was a first basement,
like all the other breakouts, would be a lot easier.
But I kind of want to hold onto him unless
it's really a king's ransom I'm getting.
Speaker 3 (58:31):
So it'd be like a three out of ten on
your trade form.
Speaker 4 (58:35):
Yeah, I blew the I blew the format there. I'd
say probably a three or maybe a four. If you
can get like an acepack for him or a true stud,
then I would do it. But if it's like a
marginal cell high, then I would.
Speaker 3 (58:50):
How about trade Jazz Chisholm. I mean, he has seven
homers and six wipes, but he's hitting one sixty five.
We know that's going to come up? Is career backpip
is three to oh one? Is backpup currently is one
fifty four? So are you trading him right now because
you think maybe this is going to sync. The average
(59:11):
is going to be bad because if he sticks in
one fifty four, he's gonna get benched eventually. But I
don't think that's gonna happen. I'm I would say, trade
Jazz right now to me is like a two. I'm
not doing it because I think the average is gonna
come up. But there have been a lot of rumblings.
Speaker 4 (59:27):
I think the average person is going to look right
for the batting average, and they may or may not
even acknowledge because the only narrative I've seen it. Maybe
this is just because New York sports fans are a
little more pessimistic. They're already Sikawan Soto and Queen's.
Speaker 2 (59:40):
No New York.
Speaker 3 (59:42):
They're always patient in kind.
Speaker 4 (59:45):
No understanding, yes, all the above, But I mean, I
don't think the average person if you're trying to trade him,
unless you can solve the person. I'm like, look, he's
got seven homers and six steals already, which your twenty
five games is fantastic. But they're gonna say, look at
the one six batting average, No thank you. So I'm
kind of like a one or at two here. I
don't unless you're trading because Jazz was expensive, Jazz was
(01:00:07):
a second third rounder. Unless you're getting that that level
back a top thirty ish player, I don't think you
should move him.
Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
Yeah, I'm one hundred percent with you. I'm not moving him.
How about this one? This one's interesting. This is Dylan
Moore's year. He's hitting two seventy seventy. He's got five homers,
five swipes already, fourteen runs, seven RBI. Strikeout rate is lower,
I think the walk rate is higher right now, that's
kind of in line. But I mean he's looking good
(01:00:36):
and it feels like every time I look up, and
today he drove in a couple more runs as well. So, like,
Dylan Moore is a Utah guy that qualifies at a
bunch of different positions, and he's hitting well right now,
better than Jazz right So, is this Dylan Moore's year
or is this a hot April and you're just absolutely
not buying it.
Speaker 4 (01:00:55):
I'm not buying it. He's just crushing lefties. He's always
sucked against right handed pitching. This year, if you're looking
at WRC plus three hundred and six against lefties, I'll
use ops because it's a little more mainstream. Fourteen twenty
seven ops against lefties, four ninety four against righty's. He's
not gonna face enough left handed pitchers to have that
kind of value, especially in that ballpark which is just
(01:01:18):
death to hitters, and without there being a really robust
group of guys around him. There's some decent names, but
Dylan Moore is like peak cell high and he's one
of those ones where it's like, who's spying high on
Dylan Moore? But I think the bottom is gonna fall
out from under him.
Speaker 3 (01:01:31):
Get a starter, Get a back end of your rotation, guy,
get some saves, you know what I mean, Like if
you if you have a you know, if you have
a guy to trade, get something you're weak at that
that's if you can. You know, obviously, let's go to
this one. Junior Caminaro will hit forty homers. This is
interesting because he only has five. He's not out there,
(01:01:52):
he's not sold. He doesn't have nine. Right, But everybody
talked about camon Aro in this ballpark before the season started,
and you know he's been he's been having the highest
bat speed out of anybody. He's I feel like when
the weather warms up, he's gonna start dropping nukes, especially
in Tampa. I know that they're avoiding a big chunk
(01:02:14):
of the summer in Tampa because of the weather. That's
why they're doing so many home games now. But this
guy's got a lot of thumb. I think if I'm
picking one through ten on this one, I'm like, at
a seven, I think he's gonna at least come close
to forty.
Speaker 4 (01:02:29):
I think what you mentioned there is really important. That
they're playing a lot of their games now at home
so that they don't run into weather trouble. So he's
not gonna be able to take advantage as much as
we might hope of the warm weather in that ballpark
in July and August.
Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
They's not like the Sacramento guys. But still it'll be there.
Speaker 4 (01:02:45):
It'll be there. It'll be there. It's just it's not
gonna be to the same extent as maybe some people
are thinking. It's like, oh, he's gonna have the whole
summer there, because they are front loading those home games.
But I think forty is probably pushing it a little bit.
I think that I would put it in like the
thirty ish camp. Maybe, yeah, thirty to thirty five range,
So in terms of forty, I'd probably say it's like
(01:03:07):
a five or six for me. He could potentially do
it if he runs really hot, if he has one
of those Kyle Schwarber ten home run months, we could
definitely see it, could definitely see it. But I would
probably take the under forty.
Speaker 3 (01:03:18):
Is the line a couple more bombs? That's going to
be a Corbyn Carrol month, by the way, ten homers,
So my guy is strong right now. How about this one,
Jacob Wilson is the new Luisa Rise?
Speaker 4 (01:03:29):
Yeah? Absolutely, that's a ten out of ten, absolutely, like
nine something like. I don't know that he's not going
to give you the same speed, And honestly, this is
going to sound ridiculous, but he might not have the
same quite power. The power is probably the end of
the power is probably about the same. They're both going
to give you like six or seven homers or something
for the whole year. A Rise maybe gives you a
(01:03:51):
little bit more speed, but same dude, same dude, two
hundred picks later in drafts, more or less with a
better home park and still a really good line. I mean,
the athletics lineup is not something that was expected to
be that good. But they're pretty damn good unit.
Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
Yeah, we just went through when we were talking about
Soda shim like it is. It is a pretty strong lineup.
Wels and I were looking at that today. The Marlins
are fourth in batting average, So in team batting average
right now, they're fourth. You know, they're super low in
ISO and run scored and a bunch of other things,
but batting average they are hitting. How about this one,
(01:04:27):
Pete crow Armstrong is a second round player for the
rest of the season. Dude has ten swipes, five bombs.
He's hitting two ninety four. The backup is kind of
crazy high as three fifty two. That's gonna come down,
but it's not like over four hundred or something absolutely ridiculous. So,
I mean, even on a comeback, Pete crow Armstrong is
having an incredible first month here, Like a second round
(01:04:50):
might be a little rich. Maybe this is low on
the scale, but how high is Pete grow Armstrong if
he's not second round?
Speaker 4 (01:04:57):
Yeah, I'm not thinking he's gonna be a second rounder.
I think he can be like a fifth, sixth round
type of player if things work out well for him.
It's just hard because when you look below the surface,
there's not a lot that's that different from what he's
done in previous years. So I mean it's really just
last year mostly, but twenty three percent strikeout rate, which
was the same as last year, five percent walk rate.
(01:05:20):
The barrel rate is at nine it was at seven
point four last year. The hard hit is at thirty eight,
it was at thirty six. The eggs of velocities are
about the same. There's two small differences that you can
notice here. The main one is that the swinging strike
rate has gone from fifteen point eight to eleven and
a half percent, which is really good. He's not swinging
as much, and you know, just fresh off a show
(01:05:41):
with Justin Mason, I'm gonna mention zone contact percentage seventy
eight percent contacting the zone last year, which is atrocious,
up to eighty eight percent so far this year. So
he's making more contact, he's not swinging and missing as much.
He's already got five homers and ten steals. But at
the same time, I think he's probably a guy where
the value is never going to be higher than it
is to He's probably gonna level off a little bit,
(01:06:01):
and you should probably look to sell him if somebody's
willing to give you. You know, we're talking about him
as a potential second round here. If you're getting back
like a Jazz Chisholm, would you if you can trade
PCA for Jazz? I would do it?
Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
In the hardbeat M Yeah, that one is that one's
tempting man that that's a very good trade. Uh because
way over performer versus way under performers. So yeah, I
think I'm with you. I think I think PCA might
have a little more juice in the fifth or sixth.
I think maybe maybe fourth, like a really good finish
would get him to a third. I don't think he's
(01:06:33):
his second, but he's playing like it right now. How
about this one? Tyler Maley is a top thirty starting
pitcher for the rest of the season. Right now, he
is three and oh twenty six and two thirds and
five starts, twenty five strikeouts, twelve walks. The eras point six,
the sierra is over four right, the whip is point six'.
(01:06:56):
Eight though he's not walking a lot point, NINE i,
guess but he's. NOT i, mean no one's getting on against.
Him swinging strike rate is. FINE csw is about where
it normally is what do you think About molly for
the rest of the.
Speaker 4 (01:07:10):
Season smoking mirrors, Sell, well you CAN i am not
interested In Tyler molly at. All and you mentioned a
couple of the things Like sierra is my personal favorite era,
estimator and he's kind of right where he's been his
whole career four to eleven for his career four oh
seven this. Season all the others are not quite as
severe two EIGHTY xcra two five zero fIF which might
(01:07:32):
lead some people to think he can keep it. Up
but the walks are up more than they have been
in a long time for. Him and he's also getting
very lucky one fifty six babbit when he's a two
ninety two for his. Career nobody's a one fifty six
Babboit Cy young could be reincarnated and he wouldn't have
a one to fifty six Babit and he's stranding ninety
one percent of base runners seventy four for his. Career
(01:07:53):
so it kind of just comes down to the luck
numbers so, far zero percent homer to fly ball, rate
no home runs. Allowed he has had an issue in
those departments fourteen percent homer to fly ball one point
three to Two homer per nine for his. Career this
is the situation where if you can sell him, again
it's not gonna be like you're getting back Logan gilbert
for or anything right, crazy but you're gonna get probably
(01:08:15):
a lot more than you would have got three weeks.
Ago AND i think before the bottom falls out from under,
him you should try maybe in a two for one
type of. Deal yeah maybe, maybe you, know maybe not
a one for one straight up because people are gonna you,
know they're gonna smell. Bs but try and package him
up with.
Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
Somebody, yeah that's What i'm thinking. Too he's a guy
that you add on to a deal right now because he's,
hot so, uh because you're Not, yeah like you, said
you're not getting one for one deals done For Tyler. Molly.
Uh but he does have a great. Start but like you,
said a lot of smoking. Hers how about this last one,
here this is The Andrew heeney we've been waiting, for
uh thirty one and a third and five. Starts he's
(01:08:49):
two and one thirty one, strikeouts only six. Walks his
era is one seven to. Two sierra is sitting at
three zero. Eight his whip is point seven to. Seven
that walk rate is five point one percent one point
seventy two walks per NINE csw is higher than it's
been in the last two. Seasons at twenty nine point
two swing strike rate is the highest it's been in
(01:09:12):
the last three seasons as. Well so when we look
At Andrew, HEENY i feel LIKE i don't ever believe.
HIM i feel like every TIME i bought in On Andrew,
hey he has let me. DOWN i even saw him in.
SPRING i went To bradenton and watched him pitch and
he got. Rocked SO i JUST i feel like every
(01:09:33):
WAY i could be let down By Andrew HEENY i,
have AND i feel LIKE i want to trade him
right now If i'm rostering. Him, obviously me who's been
burned by him, BEFORE i don't roster him. Anywhere but
what are your thoughts On Andrew? Heeny is this not
obviously this is, Sustainable but is a Good Andrew heeny
sustainable for the rest of the.
Speaker 4 (01:09:53):
Season, yeah this isn't gonna keep up to this, degree
BUT i think he can be. GOOD i Think Andrew,
hey you, know if you're looking at certain metrics that
we like to look at that we've already mentioned a
few times on the. Show they're looking about as good
as they ever. Have the hard hit data is. Great
six point three percent barrel rate is one of the
best numbers he's ever put. Up the only time he's
ever had a lower barrel rate was when he pitched
(01:10:14):
as a, rookie and we're talking about a very small sample.
Size hard hit rate this season thirty one percent is.
Excellent he's been thirty nine percent for his career the
last couple of years thirty, nine thirty, eight forty, seven
so big improvements. There The sierra at three h eight
is the second BEST i think of his career outside
of that year where he was A dodger a couple
of years, ago which is one of the only times
(01:10:34):
we've seen him have some sustained success was when he
was pitching for The. Dodgers BUT i, think you, know
outside of probably not returning many victories Because pittsburgh is
not going to win many, GAMES i Think Andrew heeney
is pretty. Solid he's not a guy WHERE i would
be anywhere close to was worried As, molly like get
out from under him today because the end is near
(01:10:56):
type of. STUFF i think you COULD i think you
could and probably should sell. Him but even if you're
holding onto, him let's call, it you, know a deeper
twelve team, league fifteen team, league he's gonna have. Value
just don't expect a ton of. Wins he might have
four wins for the season or five, wins and you
shouldn't be surprised by.
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
That all, Right that's EVERYTHING i have for. You is
there anything we're? Missing are there any points that you've
been making on other shows that we didn't talk about
that you think everybody needs to know about right?
Speaker 4 (01:11:20):
NOW i hope you sold high On kyra And. Paris
that's about the only other one right. NOW i know
there was kind of some debate between The fantasy pros
guys about. This joey p was like a hard, sell
and it's looking pretty good Because kyra And paris is
cooled off like. Crazy he's one where it's, like you
probably can't even sell him at this, point but we're
like last call if he can get out from under.
(01:11:42):
Him the minor league track record remains. Undefeated, yeah, yeah
it usually.
Speaker 3 (01:11:48):
Does. NOW i will, say sometimes guys get the best
instruction in the, biggs you getting the most guys are
getting paid the most. Money the best instruction is still
in the, bigs even though it's a little. Counterintuitive you,
know these guys make too much money to not have
the best. Instruction so sometimes you get up to the,
bigs you change, something something is. Adjusted but, YEAH i
(01:12:08):
mean that run From Kyron paris was. Insane you, know
it's kind of like What Tyler molly's doing right. Now
so you, know so let's not buy all the way into,
that but that it's a good point to. Make some
of these guys and some of these starts are. Crazy
we can't all Be Chris, shelton you know WHAT i. Mean,
so but that is it for this. INTERVIEW i appreciate.
You joe At Joe aurico ninety nine on The twitter,
(01:12:30):
machine and we'll be right back to answer some listener
questions with The welsh.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
Voicemails in this league at gmail dot. Com so you
can record yourself sixty seconds or, less but don't do
it next, week or you could just start setting it
up because we need be doing it next. Week but
probation official probation for it could be in in two.
Weeks but we do The patreon. Post you can email
us and in the, voicemails all this, stuff and thank
you To Joe. Rico that was an amazing interview BECAUSE
i totally just heard it.
Speaker 3 (01:13:07):
All it was really really a good. One and were
you surprised that we didn't talk About Garret crochet at?
All not Even WELL.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
I, am but luckily we're talking about. It AND i
just want to point out he, walked he gave up another,
walk so he has three, walks, five hits four and.
Runs he doesn't.
Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
SAY i want to point. OUT i would love to
point out right now that anytime THAT i mentioned something
that's happening live while we're, recording you want to skip
and say everyone's already seen. This it's all, news by the,
Way JUST i just want to throw that out out
there that, yeah it's a little.
Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
Hypocritical it's a little, hypocritical and it's a little bad
BECAUSE i am kind of hoping he did those tits
get lit just a little bit more fucking really laid,
in because if he's gonna go one more, inning likely
he goes, five gives up four walks three Like i'll
do my video, still but it doesn't hit quite as.
Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
Well i'm just like The Gallon star where he gave
up six in the first two innings and didn't give
anything up for the next four and looked really. Good
like It, well he has to make any, sense.
Speaker 4 (01:14:09):
No but he.
Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
Hasn't that that is a little. Different he definitely has
not looked good. Here he still doesn't have a fifty
percent zone percentage on any pitch he's thrown today through
all these. Innings his, fastball it's not. Great he has
a twenty four percent, rate twenty two PERCENT csw. Percentage
it's just it's it's weird and seattle like often it's,
okay it's not. Great it's not, like you, know you're
(01:14:30):
not like you're facing The yankees or The cubs or
The diamondbacks like it's it's.
Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
Okay it's just not twelth in row The mariners so far.
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
This actually had to. Update let's let me take one
of the cool it's eleven whiffs he has now and,
uh still under fifty percent zone, PERCENTAGE wif percentages, UP
csw percentages up a little.
Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
Bit so he's.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
Okay it's, just you, know Like god, forbid all, right.
Voicemails we've got a couple of things, here not a
ton it's it's, probation but it's also not going to
be here next. Week let's see what's, on and we
got a couple Emails secret, Probation double secret special. Probation
we had a couple different Bill let's go to don
our Boy don for. TODAY i never wants to see
(01:15:10):
these things go, away so he's here for the love
of the. Game Lieutenant, Dome Bob.
Speaker 6 (01:15:16):
Win and The Welsh Lieutenant don appreciate the, pods the
ball bag and all the content every week trying to
keep the ball bag. GOING i know we started this
discussion last year an Annual Dennis green.
Speaker 4 (01:15:27):
List they are who we thought they.
Speaker 6 (01:15:29):
Were just curious a month into the, season who you're
like two or three batters pictures that you think my
list would. Be, Torklesen terrag And. Perdomo they're both they're
all three twenty, five so some time to turn. Around
torklesen is probably the One i'm least confident, on but
curious who's on your. List on the, PICTURES i Have Jack,
(01:15:51):
Flaherty tyler or McGill And Nick, pavetta all pitching above
way above their three year. Averages all of them we
are as about four whips won three one four range
for the last three years all again and a little bit.
OLDER i think it's a little bit late in their
career to have these. Turnarounds so just, curiously what you
guys think fifty seven fifty? Eight? Uh, later guys by.
Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
Just counting, down like what counting down the? Second, Okay
SO i GUESS i got a little. Confused so by
the we are who they thought they? Were is something
body tell your right? Calls, okay but Like torcosen's not
if you didn't Think tourklsin's is gonna be. Special torcosen
has been really good so far this, year so that's
WHY i got a little. Confused and then the back end.
Speaker 3 (01:16:34):
And he thought he was going to be. Good oh,
okay well DIDN'T i think that's like like for, me
it'd Be Jung Hu lee's pretty. Good he is WHO
i THOUGHT i WHO i thought you were once WHEN
i did this before back.
Speaker 2 (01:16:46):
Okay, UH i Mean Peven smith would definitely be having.
THAT i got really.
Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
Right you Got bobachett, right you were On.
Speaker 2 (01:16:55):
Bob, Yeah bobaschett looks a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:16:58):
BETTER i Don't Goldie goldie second the league in.
Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
Hits, Yeah goldie would be another, one for. SURE i,
MEAN i guess the opposite of we thought they are
who they thought they were totallya, LIKE i got that
totally and Dot Jock peterson are LIKE i did not
have that right at.
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
All Jack peterson is so. Bad Robert sowrez is leading
the league and saves another so bad.
Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
One that's a fun. GAME i don't, Know i'd have
TO i Guess i'd have to think about that. More
But peven immediately came to. Mind Boba schet's a pretty
good one as. WELL i probably have a couple OF
i Mean Corbyn. Carroll it Kept corbyn up pretty, high you,
know and he bounced. BACK i think that's a really
good candidate for for this.
Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
Game very.
Speaker 2 (01:17:40):
TRUE i Mean James.
Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
Wood James wood has been. Outstanding Hunter green has been
really good until his last.
Speaker 2 (01:17:48):
Start, also like if you do the, LIKE i don't believe.
IT i THINK. C. J abrams has kind of been
a little little disastrous so far this. Year he's been,
HURT i, know but like all on, Top, well what
did he do before you was? HURT i don't think it.
Speaker 3 (01:18:01):
Was he's playing.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
Hurt, Okay well Then i'm still.
Speaker 4 (01:18:05):
Right two forty.
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
Four, yeah he's kind of who he was last. Year not,
right because he's already. Back, Seeger i'm right about he
is WHO i thought he. Was he is out. Already so,
yeah we'll SEE i mean hopefully hopefully that's not. Long
but BUT i, mean if you were betting right now
on When seeger is, back AND i set the line At.
Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
June, fifteenth oh, under he already said like this Isn't they,
said this isn't one that they think is going to be,
forever like it's it's a it's. Mine, WELL i, mean
let me take a. Look at LEAST i THOUGHT i saw.
That they, said, Like i'll go over. That go, on
he's going to come. Back you think he's going to
go he's one hundred.
Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
Years old right, here and he's had bad hamstring's his whole.
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
Career, okay but this is from The, rangers one of
the radio, people, right hamstring injury low. Grade he's going
on the al but the expectation is he's away only
four or close to the minimum of ten. Days, Okay
so even if it's a little bit, later It's april twenty,
fourth THAT'S.
Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
I, mean, yeah that's like that's Like may, Fourth may,
Fifth so may the fourth be with. You it's somewhere
right outside about that and or already. Started but let,
uh let's go WITH i bet you he will not
be back Before may. Fifteenth i'll say middle Of.
Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
May, okay, Yeah i'll take the under on.
Speaker 3 (01:19:28):
That, oh thank you's.
Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
Back what's the bet?
Speaker 3 (01:19:31):
Do what do? You how about one of these? Shirts?
Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
Oh one of these.
Speaker 3 (01:19:35):
SHIRTS i think they're like thirty. Bucks, yeah it's.
Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
A good it's a good looking. Shirt boggy looks still.
Speaker 3 (01:19:40):
Good and we'll, bet we'll bet one of. THESE i
can't even remember what brand it, is SO i don't.
Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
Know, YEAH i like, that all, Right next, voicemail It's, Trent.
Speaker 4 (01:19:51):
Trent what's?
Speaker 1 (01:19:52):
That?
Speaker 5 (01:19:53):
Fellas looking to do a little speculating on who the
next big offensive prospects are they're going to get the.
CALL i was able to pull In Nick kurtz in
a twenty team guillotine league before you got the. Call
who's going to be the next? Guy i'm looking at
maybe lawlor Or Roman. Anthony both of them look pretty
(01:20:14):
hot right. Now but are they hot enough to get
the call within the next week or? So because in
This Guillotine league bench spons are very, sparse so Basically
i'd be picking them up and taking a hit for
the next week or so until they do get the.
Speaker 4 (01:20:30):
Call so do you think either of these guys are worth?
Speaker 5 (01:20:32):
It if, not is there anybody else you'd speculate?
Speaker 2 (01:20:36):
On right?
Speaker 5 (01:20:36):
Now thank, you, Fellas we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
You it's a vibe just out in the forest calling
from the avi arey, there so you know what it sounded.
Like there's this horror movie called rap, horror horror horror
in a violent, nature and there's always these. Ads they're
like audience members who are disgusted and it's just like it's,
(01:20:59):
fine it's just a horror. Movie but what it is
is it's in the perspective of the, killer but it's
a very quiet movie because it's like you're with you're
in the perspective, first or like like almost video game
version of watching the killer at all, times and he'll
just be like walking around in the woods and it
sounds just like, that you, know because like he's like
(01:21:22):
lea to somebody to kill, them and it'll just be
like birds chirping because he's walking. Through that's the. VIBE
i gop like seven people are going to love that.
Reference no one else is going to care but love
the woods. Here it's so interesting that you say, This,
trent because maybe you don't know. This on in this
league dot com And, PATREON i do a weekly sheet
that is twenty five prospects for redraft every single week
(01:21:44):
updated AND i even do a write up on the
top ten on my vibes and feeling on. Them so
definitely might want to check that, out twenty five prospects for,
redraft and it is based around talent versus WHEN i
think they could come. UP i don't run these, teams
SO i don't exactly. Know But Nick kurts has been
at the top of the list since day, one So
(01:22:06):
i'm with.
Speaker 3 (01:22:07):
You so what do you think about his specific weird
situation in a guillotine are? You are you picking Up
lawler Or anthony and burning a bench spot in a guillotine.
League you mess up in a guillotine, league you're. Gone
i'm assuming you're. Gone maybe it's two weeks at a
time in, baseball but that that stuff's.
Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
Tough, SURE i, mean it doesn't necessarily change in the
guillotinelenue doesn't change. It it's just, like what's your? VIBE
i don't think.
Speaker 3 (01:22:32):
There is a.
Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
Hitter, okay there's one hitter that's beating down the doors
to be called up and could be called up. Soon
but the problem is is Like Nick kurtz was so,
good you had to speculate on and then here's what
the team. Did they started making a little bit of.
Room it's, like, hey rookers a gonna play in the.
Outfield so we saw the end of the. Tunnel we
don't have the end of the there's only one. Prospect
(01:22:54):
we have the end of the tunnel for right. Now
It's Bubba. Chandler Bubba chandler's up to seventy. Pitches he looks,
better his command is, better his change up is. There,
pittsburg they've got a relatively you, know bad back into the.
Rotation we can see what that looks. Like so he's there.
Hitting there's not but on my, Chart Roman anthony would
be the top guy because he has looked really good
(01:23:16):
in the, miners BUT i don't know what the timetable.
Is number two is Another Red, Sox Marcella, mayer because
he's been playing second base And Christian campbell kind of
stinks at second, base SO i could. See but If
mayor comes, up that Affects anthony because Then anthony would
go to the. Outfield SO i don't think those are in.
Question the only guy THAT i think is like really
(01:23:36):
looming Is Jordan, lawler but he'll be up higher on
the next. One we also don't know where the hell he.
Plays it's kind Of Roman anthony right. Now, yeah he's
playing second, Base katel's coming. Back Is katel going TO
Dh we don't. Know lawler is one of the hottest
hitters in the, Miners so IF i were picking, ONE
i GUESS i would probably pick Up lawler right, now
(01:23:58):
BUT i GOTTA i currently have a couple hitters. ABOVE
i just don't think anybody is knocking on the door
like like Like curtis. Was so it's just gonna have
to be something that you, know the team makes a
move or there's an. Injury So i'm not sure in your,
Situation i'm speculating on any offensive. Prospects if you know
your bench spots are super super, valuable because it's just
(01:24:19):
a you're gonna just have to pick. Up i'd list
out the GUYS i think you should pick, up But
i'm not giving you a Guarantee when they're coming up
BECAUSE i got no. IDEA i had absolutely no idea
what these teams are gonna. Do lollers should have already
been up Over Tim tawa And Jorge barosa def out
of here.
Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
Been all, right he's been.
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
Fine But Garrett hampson could could kick rocks And Dred
lawler should be up and he could play multiple. Spots
that's my take on, it all. Right one more, Voicemail.
Steven we Got steven got a dynasty questions Up.
Speaker 7 (01:24:49):
Steven, hey, guys this Is stephen from my backyard In East.
Tennessee hopefully you can hear the frogs brooking and crickets,
chirping setting a beautiful backdrop for A i T l.
Voicemail this is THE i.
Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
Mean this is almost As mr For. Welsh he loves.
Speaker 2 (01:25:12):
IT i have a big old smile on my, face
SO i can just feel like either there's there's so
many trees around that it's like blocking the sun and
it's kind of. Shady, yeah, yeah, exactly and the frogs
AND i don't, Know i'm envisioning like.
Speaker 3 (01:25:26):
Some the sun's going. Down got a beer in your.
HAND i don't think he's on a river mount.
Speaker 7 (01:25:34):
Today wanted to do like a keep trade cut of
three second year players who are performing. Well, uh this
is for a dynasty league and for, CONTEXT i am
a rebuilding, Team so.
Speaker 4 (01:25:56):
Keep that in.
Speaker 7 (01:25:56):
Mind keep trade Cut Jacob, wills P Crow armstrong Or Kyle.
MANZARDO i know that Pe crow technically his third, year
but first year was only sixteen. Games thanks, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
Ooh're definitely Keeping. Pca he's the number one out of that.
Group so it's.
Speaker 2 (01:26:19):
Great because his value might be the highest of anybody
and you might be able to get a. Haul but
to your, POINT i would say Keep pca his Trade
Jacob wilson and then Cut manzardo if that that was the, thing, Right,
yeah what Is manzardo? Hitting it's like two ten or
something like. That he's got, power he's getting in decent spots.
(01:26:41):
ONLINE i don't mind. It he's just not hitting for. Average,
yeah SO i would he would be the cut now
if You Jacob wilson doesn't have a lot of counting,
stats but he you, know huge hitting, streak he gets
on base batting. AVERAGE i just think he's kind of,
sneaky BUT i don't think he's a lot of trade value.
Either that's the. PROBLEM i THINK pca is the only
one with trade.
Speaker 3 (01:27:01):
Value you're, Right you're absolutely right about. That uh, so,
YEAH i guess maybe Trade Pete crow FOR i don't, know,
THOUGH i, mean you haven't done your rest of season rankings.
YET i MEAN i do it like.
Speaker 2 (01:27:16):
Every, week so it's kind of.
Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
Up WHERE'S.
Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
PCA i don't. KNOW i MEAN i moved him up
a few outfield spots for. SURE i already had him pretty, High,
TOBE i.
Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
Mean, yeah but he's been, Amazing like how high does
he need to?
Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
GO i don't know if he needs my? Question, okay
but then it's, like you know it's a PC a or.
Speaker 3 (01:27:38):
Currently he is fifth in fantasy, rankings it Goes Judge
Tucker carrol TATIST. Pca he's. Fifth, YEAH i, okay, no
neither DO. I but, like, uh let's let's look at
some guys that Also.
Speaker 2 (01:27:54):
DYNASTY i think he said this Was, dynasty so that Does,
like of, course it's hard to come off of pc at.
All but that's, why like the only REASON i was
saying trade is the trade value might be Like biserko
for a guy LIKE.
Speaker 3 (01:28:05):
Pca, uh when you TRADE pca For Ta oscar.
Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
In a, Dynasty, No i'll Take Michael. Harris see that's
a really good.
Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
ONE i THINK i Want. PCA i think i'd Want.
Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
Pca pca is pretty massively overperforming his batting average right.
Now he's not hitting the ball a lot. HARDER i,
mean he's just kind of who he was last, year
but also last year like he looked like he was
gonna be a fifteen thirty five, guy and he looks
like he's going to be that. Again so, YEAH i
here's WHAT i would. DO i would Put pca out
there to see if someone goes nutso and wants to.
(01:28:42):
Trade maybe they're frustrated with like a big. TIME i
mean maybe in a dynasty you can go and get you,
know you, KNOW i don't, Know Chris Lee campbell and
something or yeah maybe, ah you, know you never, Know.
JULIO i would just see what it looks like out,
there is the first THING i would, do but likely keep,
him Trade Bob, wilson and THEN i don't know What
manzardo's dynasty value really looks like right, now SO i
(01:29:05):
GUESS i would put him as the.
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
Cut, OKAY i think that's. FAIR i Think manzardo Or.
Wilson you, KNOW i am a little fearful That wilson
turns into a. Rise but he's in that great, Ballpark,
like are you really gonna have no no power this
year in that? Ballpark because if you don't hit bombs
in this, one you're not hitting them anywhere. ELSE i feel,
(01:29:26):
like so we're gonna. LEARNT i understand. That but, yet you,
know If manzarno can get up to two, fifties it's
gonna hit thirty. Homers you're very right about.
Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
That then those two are. Close those two are pretty,
close all. RIGHT i think we had a thing or.
Two let's see on the, emails The Grim reaper came
back and, yeah a. Novel there's no CHANCE i. Can
i'm gonna try to summarize.
Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
As it's just like run it THROUGH, ai run. It.
Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
YEAH i might post this On patreon as a post
in instead of. This at the, end they, go you,
know find yourself the next big replacement. Player The welsh
even has a list On patreon instead of waiting on
me to tell you who is out for for. Count
by the, way we also found out that who DID
i think it? WAS i think it Was, Jag, Yes
(01:30:17):
jag confirmed it's not. Him he had some. Speculations so
we still don't know who this.
Speaker 4 (01:30:21):
Is but, LIKE.
Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
I, mean it's for, sure is It Walt? Whitman it might.
Speaker 2 (01:30:28):
Be so here's some names he. Mentions he Mentions Roman,
Anthony so that's. Bad he mentions all the. INJURY i,
mean what, context.
Speaker 3 (01:30:38):
We're Not we're we're not reading it, OBVIOUSLY i.
Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
DON'T i gonna be honest with. You you got to
give us something. Podcast it's, like, okay here's the beginning of.
It sometimes it's more important to hear the NAMES i
do not mention in these emails and the ONES i.
Do last, WEEK i did not mention the pending return
Of Spinster, strider and now.
Speaker 4 (01:30:54):
We all know.
Speaker 2 (01:30:55):
WHY i just like it's like seven, paragraphs LIKE i can't. Wow,
yeah but he does say tootles at the, end and
that was something that like, That, yeah we were trying
to figure out tootles seems Like. English, Yeah, craig that's
our next guess is This craig could Be craig Because
craig would definitely not want his voice to be heard
because we'd immediately know who it. Was what if it
(01:31:19):
was the what if it was the other remember The
british person who kind of disappeared From vatren and out

One what is Your this is From. Steven what's your
take On Michael? TOLIA i have him in most leagues
and he's killing. Me, Unfortunately tolia is not going to
get it. DONE i think for anybody in the near.
Future my take on it does not look. Good his
barrel is way down from last. Year his strakeouts are way,
up he's not. Walking some of the other stuff is.
(01:33:11):
There he's hitting it, hard his hard hit rate is,
up his launch angle still. Up but he's just he's
making some of the most piss poor. Contacts so he's
just a Cut and if he starts to show sons
of signs of, life then then we'll jump on it.
Speaker 3 (01:33:25):
Too eighty one At home one fourteen on the, road
twelve games, away nine games at. Home so he's just
he's a different player away From.

Today here's a final. Line it Took Garrett crochet one
hundred and ten pitches to get to the fifth, inning
(01:33:56):
but the day is go go either. Way he went,
five he struck out. Nine that looks. Good gave up
five hits though four earned, runs and walked. Five i'm
gonna still make that. Video whip one hundred and ten
pitches to get to the fifth inning and he walked.
(01:34:18):
Five that's not super. Great it doesn't mean you're trading.
HIM i love me Some Garrett. Crochet it just means
that something looks. Off it just doesn't seem like the
