Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the in This League Fantasy Podcast network, in
This League Fantasy Baseball podcast online at in this League
dot com. Now here's your host, Bogman and the Welsh.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
What's up, friendos of Welcome into the end This League
Fantasy Baseball Podcast. It is Bogman and the Welsh August
eleventh and beyond technically August twelfth, August twelfth and beyond
edition where we're going to be taking a look at
some of the hotness over the last week. Lots of
topics to talk about. Welsh, the new Jeff Passen, Bogman.
(00:37):
Some people are saying it. Some people are saying I
might be the new Shams in the world. Have you
heard these rumors?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Witstopher Kels said that I saw it. Yeah, I did
see that.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Well apparently in that world too. What happens is someone
made the rumor about me doing it, and then twelve
others stole the thing and did not cite that person,
but I did. I broke my first piece of news
and one hundred person had like three other people steal it.
I don't care. While being like this is a fun
thing to be a little bitchy about. Like at the
end of the day, like people cry about that type
(01:11):
of stuff. I got some timestamps, but I did break
I think my first piece of like real news. I've
had like one or two things, but I don't think
it was I honestly, I just don't really remember. This
one was important enough. I happened to go out. It's
kind of my day off. I got a mid week
day off, so I rolled out and by the way,
my day off, I'm here recording a podcast. I rolled
(01:32):
out to the Diamondbacks Rocky facility. Wanted to see some
Ethan Holiday and some case in Cunningham. I get down there,
I walk in. No one's out on the field yet,
no one's there, and then and I'm with a friend
and outwalks this catcher and he just goes, hey, Ethan
Holiday got called up. He's not here, and I'm like oh,
And I look at my friend. I'm like, I feel like,
(01:52):
is that him telling you to go away? It might
have been yeah, one hundred percent, I think, but also
like he didn't say it in the you could definitely
tell people. Sure. But I looked at my friend and
I was like, I'm gonna roll with that, and he's like, oh,
you sure? You comfortable? With it. I'm like, eh, I'll
delete it. If not, we'll see. So I tweeted out
(02:13):
one hundred percent before anybody else it is, I have
the timestamp. Uh there, there's a couple other accounts someone
I know about fifteen minutes later another big one which,
by the way, very funny. They don't follow me on
Instagram where they follow me on Twitter. About forty minutes
after no creditation to Senior Welsh for breaking the news,
they all just broke it themselves. And then Baseball America like,
(02:35):
I don't like twenty minutes ago, I think confirmed it.
That gives a final confirmation. But let's give some credit
where credits deserved. I'm the new Shams, I'm the Whams. Yeah,
it's Hams Whams out here. I got to break the
news before anybody else, literally because a player told me,
and I did not double check my sources and didn't
(02:56):
really take anything else into credit.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
A real journalist in this day and like a real
perch does instantly to my phone and put it out.
As soon as there's a rumor, let's tweet it.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
That's yeah, And I luckily I was correct though. Yeah
it was a very good correct rumor. So yeah, I
get to break some news. So Ryan Spader gave me credit.
He said, great, breaking news is someone that's done a
few of those.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Hey, look at that.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
I'll never do anything again. It was not important either.
It doesn't like nobody cares, like, nobody will care about me.
That's also why I don't care about this type of stuff.
A it won't it won't make me money, and being
nobody cares, no one will care in six hours?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Do you think Spader is disappointed I didn't grow from
the uh the Carls Junior bit.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, he loved that you were being like a fat
mess like that was definitely a big thing on Spada. Yeah,
as a military guy. He definitely let you know about that.
A couple of people, who was the other person that
didn't someone have something like horrific or no, it wasn't.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
But I had a couple of d ms like you're
you're I'm not gonna watch you kill yourself. I'm like, okay,
I mean from Spader, not from Spader. I was like,
Sunder was on the show and You're like, why do
you like this so much? Spader? It's like, because Box
is gonna die? This is insane? Yeah, right, like he
just thought it was nuts. But no, I got I
(04:15):
got a legit message from a couple of people that
are like, I'm not gonna watch you kill yourself. I'm like, bro,
it is a bit. Do you think I'm going and
getting a double Western bacon cheeseburger every day like I
would definitely die day, it's every other day. It's every
other day, stupid, Come on, No, I mean I went,
I drove. I just annoying thing was how far that
(04:37):
Carl Junior is from my house? So I had to
get up and leave and get up off my ass
and leave my house every day to go there to
film a video with you know, it was me eating
fries most of the time. If you see it, I
buy a small fry and I do my bit. So
those people, oh my god, yeah that that could not
(04:58):
that it was not a great bit. Some people thought
it was really funny. Everyone who thought who liked it
liked it for the wrong reasons. I felt like it's one.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Of those things where it's like if we were way
more popular, and it's like, okay, if only fifteen percent
of our audience liked it. But it was like, you know,
Shane Gillis and Matt mcclusker and we were like secret
podcasts and it's like, well, that's one hundred thousand people.
That's okay. But it's like, you know, five thousand people
like us in ten percent and it's like four or
five hundred people really liked the bit, and it's like.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Oh, and by the way, for everyone, send me messages.
Not dead. That was a long time ago. That was like,
was that COVID or right after COVID it's right around question.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, it was a long time and then we reprised
it with you, me and my son when the Diamondbacks
lost the World Series. You went back when you were
out here. But yeah, that was the exciting bit of
the day was I got to break a little news
that was funny. It literally doesn't mean anything. No one
will give me credit or citation because it doesn't really matter,
but it was fun. I got to do that stuff.
(05:59):
I also got to see Tory Leavello, which Be and
Bogs have a disagreement about Tory Levello. I think as
a human, I like Tory Levello maybe more than anybody.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
I think he's just a great as you like to
see him burned at the stake.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
As a manager. He needs to not be a manager anymore.
But like, I find it funny when Tory Leavello says
something and the complete opposite happens. You know, Like every
decision he makes, he's like, I'll put this closer out
to finish out a game. Diamondbacks lose. Where what closure
is he supposed to put in?
Speaker 3 (06:30):
This year? They all suck.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Yeah, he has a roster of garbage around him. Well,
he also makes just the worst decisions. But he two
days ago, he's like, well, on Tuesday, Gabby Moreno and
Pevin Smith and I remember who the other person was,
They're all going to triple a Reno. Now, to his credit,
that might still be the case. But this morning, Miggiy
Montero and Gabrielle Moreno on a cart driving in over
(06:55):
to the Rockies and Gabby played the game, which, by
the way, I just have to you this. Here's another
little funny anecdote. Miguel Montero. Just think about this for
a minute. Miguel Montero with the Diamondbacks Salt River Fields.
I'm not sure if he's ever been on the Rocky
side before he carted in they went the lawn. God
forbid Miggie walk by any people, or Montero walk by
(07:18):
any people. Miggie drove him all the way, like it's
hard to explain, Like you have there's the diamond, and
then behind the whole diamond there's the seats in the grass,
and then there's like facility with like walkways and stuff
where that are player walkways. He drove the walkway all
the way around, past the cages, over to the diamondback
(07:38):
side gates closed, drives all the way back over to
where we are, cuts right into the grass, drives the gray.
He didn't know where the hell he was going.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
I tell you what I keep hearing. I keep hearing
people want you gone. That's what I hear. Miggi drives
all the way around you. He drives all the way
around you to avoid you. The other guy's like the
Holliday's not here, weirdo, get out of here. That's what
I hear. What is happening over at St. River Field.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
But that's how they always do, Dude, the star players
they don't walk. They're too special. You have to have
little rose pedals players. They all the players that played
in the game, they walk themselves.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Walker walk past them. One time and he busted his ass.
Wait for this drive around from him.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Niggy practically picked up Gabby Moreno and set him on
the field, and then Jordan Lawler, are a good seven
minutes before the game, rode in with five other players
that did the long drive over again for him to
play in the game. They if you're a veteran player,
you ain't doing any walking at Salt River. And guess what,
maybe that's why these guys are always hurt. Maybe it's
(08:44):
they're always hurt. They can't they do.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
They're not walker, they're lazy, they're on their phones. They
have no respect for the older generation. All right, it's
because they're not walking around Sole Riverfield. That's exactly why
touch grass kid, Get off the car, get out there.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
So I liked that that Gabby was out here. By
the way, in that game, I didn't get the video.
Lawler absolutely destroyed a ball, hit a homer, and Gabby
was I think two for three and he was catching
some So I think both guys are super close. And
there's a possibility that again Lovela maybe is right, and
maybe Gabby is gonna take a flight out to Reno
or something tonight. But he played today. So, and I
(09:23):
saw case on Cunningham, which I'll talk about in Prospect one.
And you can see on the Twitter when you also
see my time stamp tweet of breaking news. So when
Jeff Passing tweets about it, better site me. That'd be cool, though,
that'd be cool to get sighted by Passing. He's a
little tiny guy. Ever see him in person?
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Uh, I don't think I have.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
I took a picture with Ken Rosenthal and he was
alarmingly small, and then.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Like, yeah, I knew that. I thought Passon was tall.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
No, he's not. I saw him at Rangers camp one time.
It was it was he Do you remember another piece
of breaking Do you remember the infamous picture I took
of de Gram and Greg Maddox that every outlet like
remember that. Yeah, that was the same day Passing was
there and he was like, he was surprisingly small. He
seems like a much.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Jeff pass And height, you know, is like the third
thing that comes up when you google name. He is
five nine son, but.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
It doesn't matter because he's graded his job, his phenomenal
hair and uh yeah he's you know, no, no Jeff
Passing hate here.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
He'll call me.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
I'm five eight, Yeah, sure you are you are you
are a true five eight, You're you're taller than yeah, yeah,
you think I'm five two?
Speaker 3 (10:35):
And then I see you and you go, did you
get taller? Every time? That's how it works. You did
get tall I did not get taller. I've always been
five eight.
Speaker 2 (10:42):

Bogman today? Is Shoeotani a problem? Is he kind of
a problem. We woke up today to another show. Hey Atani? Thing?
(11:23):
The thing is he and his agent are I guess
there's a lawsuit being accused of sabotaging a two hundred
and forty million dollar Whay real estate project. It's all
over the place, there's lots of news that. Let me
see if I can just give you like a quick yeah,
(11:46):
I don't know. It says there was a housing development
on the big island of a Puna coast that brought
him in to endorse. I guess okay, So, according to
the lawsuit filed in Hawaii, nez Blelo, he's.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Just endorsing this. He's not even I'm buying this proble I.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Guess, well, hold on, It says, this is a lawsuit
Otani's agent, nez Bololo, increasingly demanded concessions from developer Kevin
Hayes and real estate broker Tomo Tomoko Matsumato, before demanding
their business partner, Kingsburing Realty Capital drop them from the deal.
(12:23):
Blalo and Otani, who were brought into the venture solely
for Otani's promotion and branding value, exploited their celebrity leverage
to destabilize and ultimately dismantle the plaintiff's role for no
reason other than their own financial self interest. So that's
what the lawsuit claims. So essentially, they're saying that Otani
and the agent made these developers kick this broker out
(12:46):
of the deal and it lost him a bunch of money,
is relatively what it sounds like. It also sounds like
maybe a little cry baby stuff that's in there, but
that's a lot of money.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Name through the mud, so get their money.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
I posed this to you before. I was like, man
on the surface, he kind of just like why, like,
like okay, you see the headline and you're like, sabotage
Otani two hundred and forty million dollars and you're like okay.
Then you read into it and you're like okay. So
essentially what this is like Otani is going to be
a spokesperson. Uh, this broker got taken out of the deal.
He blames Otani and his agent, and now he's pissed
(13:26):
and he wants a bunch of money. When you look
at it from that level, you're like, why why is
this news like out there? Like there's lots of bad
dealings in sports with like players and stuff like that.
But then you go, oh, it's because Otani is the
biggest name in baseball. He was attached to a horrible
scandal before, and maybe there's a bigger problem with him
(13:48):
now that this is out there. My take on it
to you, bagman, is. I think he might. Otani might
be a little dimwitty in that I think he surrounds
himself with maybe the worst human on the planet. It's
kind of hard to imagine that Otani was the one
that's like, get this broker out of here. Agents suck.
Agents are like leeches and stuff like that. Like the
(14:11):
agent is probably the person that did all of this stuff.
Their agents are meant to be bad guys. And there's
other positions that famous people have. If it's security, there
are people that are hired and designed to be bad
and sometimes there are bad people like, uh, what was
it a positi? What was the gambler interpreter? Oh, I
(14:33):
can't remember whatever, Like they're bad people, but there are
people that are meant to be bad guys for people.
And I think Kotani just might have too many bad
guys slash needing to be bad guys around him, because
this story seems like it was just overdrive because of
like his past history. If he didn't have the gambling allegations,
I'm not sure this this feels like this would be
(14:54):
and maybe I'm making too little about it. It might
be a little bit more of a nothing burger. It's like, oh,
it's a realistic.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
No one would care.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Yeah, but it wouldn't be like breaking news all this morning,
Like Otani is attached to another thing. Like I think
he just just surrounded, like he's just really bad advice.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Like he's just with money, that's what. He doesn't care
about anything but baseball. So I think that the money,
the endorsements, all that stuff, Like I'm sure he's not
completely shut off from it, but I think he just
doesn't really care about it. I think all he cares
about his baseball, so like he doesn't notice his idiot
(15:32):
agents or interpreters sealing a bunch of He trusts these people, right,
I think he trusts his uh, his agent a little bit,
or his uh, his interpret a little bit too much,
got him a bunch of money stone from him. Probably
trust this guy a little bit too much, Like oh yeah, sure,
if you say it's sick my name on it, I'm
sure it'll be no problem. And now it's a problem.
I think he's just a little bit too trustworthy of
(15:53):
the people around him.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
But I'm agreeing with you on that. I think I
completely That's what I'm saying. It's like, I like there's
a lot of stuff because because what people are doing
is they're not like reading into it and they're just
like here we go Otani and he's Enron. You know,
it's another deal, like it's always going crazy and it's like, well, no,
what it actually looks like is like, yeah, this guy
that loves baseball, maybe he doesn't do a lot of
work in he's got the people that have to do
(16:14):
the hard things. And then now maybe there's something because
you read more like in the Defendant, they say the
case is about abusive power defendants use threats and baseless
legal claims to force a business partner to betray its
contractual obligations and strip plaintiffs of the very project they
conceived and built. So like the guy is saying, like
the agent told these other people you got to get
(16:35):
this guy out of here because he's whatever. And then
this guy got kicked out, Like maybe that did happen,
but like that's the agent of Otani. Now maybe we're
being you know, uh naive in that Otan and maybe
Otani is secretly out there and he's just like a
superwer and he turns into doctor Evil when the things
he's like hmmm, two and fifty million dollars. You know.
(16:56):
I don't know if that's what's happening, but it just
seems like like, no, he's got the bad pece in
front of him, and anything that he does, it's controversial,
is going to be big news. And that's probably what
this guy, this guy out there that you know, if
he got screwed out of a deal because whatever.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Maybe the agent had said, like Otani pushed me out
and I saw him going to a meeting with Kim
Jong un and Vladimir Putin. All right, this is what's
happening right now, Wake up, America. Come on. Otani's the
bad guy. I think he should. I think this is
all this is nonsense until it's not until some someone
can link Otani to saying these things about this architect.
(17:33):
He's just a guy who let the wrong person invest this, right,
I just think I think that's what this is so
to me until the now listen, I'm glad it's reported,
we know about it, right, but it's a non factor
until it is until we hear definitive evidence of Otani
meddling in this. I don't. I think it just it.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Literally looks like this is all about the agent, Like
Otani's just thrown into it because it's his agent. But
like like it says right, well, it says right here.
This is the last thing it says. Last month, in
what the suit called a coordinated ambush kings Barn which
was like the developer company fired Hayes and Matt Sumoto.
Who I guess I'm having a little trouble figuring out
(18:15):
all the people. Billelo is the agent and Kingsbarn is
the big developer, and then there were these other dudes.
It says, Kingsburg openly admitted during the call that Bilelo
had demanded the terminations of that they were being done
solely to playkate him. The suit said, plaintiffs standals millions
of dollars in compensation tied to projected home building profit
(18:37):
construction management. You so it's exactly what I said, Like,
maybe this.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Agent's money is just pulling Otani's name through to try
to get attentions so they can get their money back.
And this is also a smart thing from them, because
you know, dragging Otani's name to them. Might he might
just be like, hey, look just just pay these guys.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
I also might be like, get this agent out of it,
get it out of whatever this agent did. Yeah, put
Otani into the middle of it. When Otani was out
there to just be you know, a face to it.
So I started spending a lot of time on this.
It's kind of new, but like I think, it just
gets it gets messy. But at the end of the day,
I think the messiness is like, gotta find some good
(19:15):
people to protect you, you know, some good people around you,
because it doesn't seem like there's like the best people
have been surrounded. You got an agent that put you
in a bad spot, and you got an interpreter that
clear yeah yeah, that stole like all your money, so
or you know, still a lot of money. And it's
really messy.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Now anytime anything he gets a parking ticket, it's gonna
be like paid parking tickets, you know, Like it's just
it's just like a crazy thing that's going on.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Is he the joker of parking in the wrong places
in l A.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Yeah, I'm so serious, you know, I don't know. I
don't put any of this like this means nothing to
me with Otani, Like I made a joke about like
the problems. I just think he has the worst people
around him. Worst people around him.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
And this is another Yeah, well he concentrated on baseball
so much, but the you know, the off the field
stuff maybe needs a little concentration. Now if your head
on the squivel so.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Yew, I'm starting to get that money. He deferred all
that money in his contract that was seven hundred.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
Forty million dollars.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Well, no he's not. He's he's the spokesman for that
you know what quarter of a million dollar investment deal
that was going on. He was going to be the
face of it. Uh Otani and WHI probably is gonna
get house or something. It's been pretty sweet. It's my
bucket list. I want to go to Hawaii, always wanted
to go. You try, would you go to Hawaii?
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Okay, that's wrong.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Second, right now, get.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Us that's what I'm That's the sponsorship email I'm waiting
for from fantasy pros. Hey, guys, who wants to go
to Hawaii?
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Me? I want to go right here?
Speaker 2 (20:48):
I want to go to that housing development. Now it's famous.
All right, some more actual baseball stuff. Kyle Rally forty
fifth homer. Kyle Schwarber just hit his forty second I
want to ask you this because I asked Joe this.
I was asked on a CBS hit about this, and
then I just randomly was listening to this the show
that it's called Mostly Sports, and they just randomly brought
(21:10):
this up too. Who do you think is going to
be your league leader in homers? You got a Tani
Messi real Estate Deals, got Aaron Judge, you know who's
kind of been slow to coming back. Kyle Raley leads
the way, but I believe he's hitting under two hundred
since July first, And he got Kyle Schwarber, who is
like three behind Cal. But you know, he has been
(21:31):
the hottest bat in baseball. Between those three, who is
going to be your league leader?
Speaker 3 (21:37):
What does Judge have right now? Thirty seven?
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Thirty seven, He's like eight behind Calany's got forty one,
I think, but Cal's batting average has been pretty stinky.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Yeah, but he just I mean, he just hit a
bunch of homers this week. What are you three or four?
So yeah, I'm it's Cal Raley for me.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Still, I picked Sber, I mean one.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Of those two guys. Uh is fine.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
The time that I did that this information, he had
the most homers since July first, and he had them.
He was tied for the most homer since June first.
That might have tipped a little bit. But and this
is Schwarbert D plus or whatever. He just hit a
homer last night. I think the Phillies are in just
such a good spot. But we are gonna hew. Okay,
(22:20):
how many fifty homerun hitters do you think we're gonna
have this year? I think we have a minimum of.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Fire definitely there. I would say Judging it's thirteen. I
think he gets there.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
What about Otani? He's at forty one right now?
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Yes, I'll say Otani. Yes. Let me just look at
home run leaders right now.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
As long as.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Suarez needs thirteen, I'll say no on him. Cameron Narrow
needs seventeen. I think that's it. So and Uh and Judge,
those are the four.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Okay, so I think we're gonna get three. I think
one of them is gonna fall short. But I think
like Schwarber and cal are locks for fifty.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Do you think I think Judge gets on a heat heater?
Speaker 2 (23:05):
I do too. I think he can get there, but
I actually kind of think he's gonna be the one
that falls short. Do you think anybody gets to sixty. Nah,
I don't either. I think it's going to be like
fifty six Schwarber fifty five cow type of thing.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
I mean, if somebody does, I would pick Schwarber out
of the group to just get hot.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Now, if Cal bounces, you know, has a little dead
cat bounce, Cal could be the one that could get
there fifteen in a month and a half. If he's
back to his like two sixty two seventy ways, that
is definitely possible. But like, let me pull up. Let's
pull up the cow. Because Cal has been a little
bit struggly, but I know he had a good weekend.
(23:48):
Why you're typing Cal in baseball spout? Why would he
not be the first person to show up?
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Now? Who shows up first? Not col Rill? No?
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Not, It wasn't even a Cal al right, So casude,
he has hit He hit one ninety four in the
month of July. In August, he's currently hitting one thirty nine.
But he has twelve homers over those month and a
half periods, So it's ridiculous the amount of homers does
(24:22):
But yeah, dude, well see hits.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
He had.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Twenty three total hits. Half of those were homers, So
like that is like everything and all that he do.
He actually didn't hit a single double in that period
of time, so it was singles and homers. But you know,
that's two months or a month and a half of
hitting under two hundred. That's kind of my thing. And
this is the thing when I was making the case
of like, hey, maybe cal Is not a great MVP candidate.
(24:50):
Is what if he struggles and sucks in the second half.
But I thought that would be tied to the Mariner struggling,
which they're not. Like cal Is still like cal Is struggling,
but the Mariners are picking him up.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
It feels like even though they're struggling, what what's the
MVP race at now? Uh?
Speaker 2 (25:04):
You know, I haven't looked. I would imagine I'd imagine
it's actually messy because like Judge hasn't done anything.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
They just missed the whole bunch of game before it
comsat sick. So I did a show like Roy hasn't
been good, but they keep winning.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
I did a show to two months ago where I
was trying to make the case for to Reak Scooble
to be MVP. So check this out. Judge is minus
one for cal Is plus one ten, and then there
are three guys that are ten or ten plus ten thousand,
(25:41):
so it like flew up Ramirez, Wit and Schooble, So
it is one of those guys. But Cal has moved
to plus and Judge is doing nothing, has just kind
of fallen apart. Tani, by the way, minus ten thousand.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's finny like Schwober hit sixty.
Maybe he counts some talk, but he doesn't play in
the field at all, and Otani also pitches like it's
just hard to say, dude.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Skeins has moved to minus six hundred. Cy Young in
the NL, Nick Kurtz is minus ten thousand al Rookie
of the year's over by to Mike cam Smith and
Drake Baldwin minus won twenty n L. But Isaac Collins
is even money because he has a higher war than
Drake Balden right now, so there's still some open markets.
(26:27):
I don't think it's out of the possibility that Roman
Anthony could jump into that Rookie of the Year market,
but like he doesn't have the counting stats, he has
the underlying stuff. He would just have to go on it,
like Kurtz would have to fall apart and he'd have
to go on a tear. But dudes, like leading off
for the Red Sox, he's hitting like two eighty something
almost a four hundred OVP like he's been sick, but
(26:48):
he just doesn't have close to the counting stats that
Kurtz does. So yeah, that's why he can't ultimately get there.
But that was fun, all right. Some other notes, some
important stuff that's floating out there. Bobby Witt miss Sunday's
game with back stiffness. Was he back on Monday?
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Though I didn't see. I was too busy crying about
the dbags plowing another save.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Oh my god, dude, they had that game like locked too.
I'm looking right now. Bobby wit Whit was in the game.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Yeah, he's two for five, so all good there.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Also in that same game, by the way, James would
two hits really really nice to see that. He's like
tapering back to Let me look at James wood over
the last couple because he's a cut cut candidate for
so many people. I think he's had a couple of
multi hit games. He's up to two sixty come on,
load quicker. He is two thirty one. In August he
(27:42):
hit one eighty eight in July. So he's just kind
of coming back. It's not quite there. Strikeouts are, it's
still kind of a problem.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Five and fourteen. He's got a chance to go thirty twenty.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Yeah, no, I mean, I think the end of the
year line is going to it's gonna look great, but
it can be shadowed into what has been like a
really bad month and a half kind of like caw really,
I mean, he hit one eight eight in July, but
he's up to two thirty one this month. He is
not stealing any bases right now, though he's hit he's
actually only hit three homers since July first. That's actually
(28:16):
kind of a crazy stat. So that was like one
hundred and thirty something at bats. He has only three
homers in which is wildly different than where yeah, I know,
than where he has been at so, but looks like
he's like finding his stride just a tiny bit. Chris
Sale is going to have his first rehab assignment on Tuesday,
so he's going to be back here shortly for you know,
(28:37):
for what, I don't know. You know, it's weird, like
these teams that are not really in it. Because I'm
not speaking out of place, like the braves of Braves
aren't even like in discussion right now, wild.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
Card horrific here they traded out twelve.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
Back in a wildcard. Yeah, but like when I was
thinking about the whole Gabby thing, like why would Gabby
like plates today take a flight to Reno to play tonight?
Like what are they hurrying him back for? Like they
are technically six and a half games out of the
wild Card, so maybe they still think they're putting something together,
Like they're delusional, thank you, Torri.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
I saw I saw someone on Reddit the other day
was like, look, we're only seven and a half games back,
And the first comment was the gift of Michael Jordan
from SNL, going stop get help you know. So, yeah,
it's not happening, but.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
That would like so. But my point is like, why
would you rush like Gabby, why would you rush Saale.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
I don't think they're rushing sale. I think this is
just like, all right, he does his rehab assignment on Tuesday.
It's just a broken rid, you know what I mean.
So it's not an arm issue, it's not something that's
going on that's a good point him into next year.
So maybe he's good enough to throw. Dude's good enough
to throw.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
So it's a good point, and it'd be fantastic for
people if you've got a playoff run. If if Sale
is I wasn't really sure if he was going to
be back at all. If if he's going to come back,
like what he does this?
Speaker 1 (29:56):
What is this?
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Is this triple A or double A? I don't rememb
where he is. Like if he does one or two,
you know, maybe he could be back right at your
playoff run. That's huge for Sale to finish out the
year strong. So I think that's a big one. Jacob Mizarowski,
speaking of injuries through three innings of a simulated game
on Saturday, sixty pitches. It's actually kind of surprising too,
because they said he's gonna missus two starts. I thought
they might baby a tiny bit more. But I think
(30:19):
that's a great sign for them to be back. And dude,
you know, the other thing I've been getting hit up
about left and right is the freaking run the Brewers
are on right now. Insane streak.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
I know, the game win streak that's two this year.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
I think it's isn't it? Schemes Tonight as we're recording this. Yeah,
so like this is the biggest opportunity, well should say
the biggest opportunity, Like they could easily the Pirates, you know,
they win the games. They could lose this streak here,
but if they don't, they've got a road They got
an eight game road trip against the Reds and the Cubs.
(30:53):
So it's like it's gonna come to a close here soon.
But that team man ulpen getting done, starting pitchers get
it done. When they don't get it done, when like
Priester blew up, guys are picking them up offense, they
don't have Churio. Like I think they're a wild team.
I kind of just don't believe them and believe it.
But in like full on baseball narrativey talk like I've
(31:16):
done on some of the CBS, is is like this
is what this is?
Speaker 3 (31:20):
What?
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Like winning teams look like like everyone wants.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
To be Like which want with the Mits?
Speaker 2 (31:24):
And what's wrong with the Yankees? And it's like everything's cold.
They got superstar players and it's like everything is falling apart.
Brewers aren't special. Brewers are like a fine looking team,
but they're like that old Royals team, remember that, Like
Alex Gord and Mike Mustok. They just got a bunch
of pieces that work.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
Is kind of they are kind of special. I'll say
they have Their run differential is one hundred thirty eight.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
It's sick now. And I'm not trying to say I
guess one.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
And seventeen only of the team over one hundred. I
think Philly's in ninety three. Let me look at the AL.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
But what I was trying to say when I when
I say special is they don't have Juan Soto, Pete
Alonzo and Francisco Lindoor. They don't have Yeah, they're not
They're not filled with these superstars. It's like Andrew Vaughan
is picking them up, Isaac Collins is picking them up.
They're able to rally.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
They've got.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
What I said, they don't have Churio, Like like they're
doing all the things that like a team that is
built to win does, and while they're doing it ten
games streak, best run differential in baseball, they have like
one of the biggest Not every team has this, but
I think I think they might have like the best
road record on top of like near home record. And
(32:39):
for perspective, the Mets are like within one game of
the same road record as the Nationals. Think about that,
that's how bad the Mets are on the road. That
the Brewers are not that. So like they're making crazy
stuff happen and they're gonna get Miserowski and Churio back.
So it's like that that is it is a what
they're doing is spec It's just like on paper, it
(33:02):
doesn't look like the team that should be this.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
That's kind of what Yeah, yeah, I'm no, I'm I'm
with you. It's uh, it definitely doesn't look right. And
every time I see Fits, he's like, break up the Brewers, bagman.
They're so good and we started talking about baseball a
little bit, but uh yeah, it's They're a fun ride
right now. This is one where you hope they get
that World Series, right, I mean really hates the Brewers.
(33:26):
I guess maybe Cubbs fans. Doubs definitely would hate that.
Cardinals probably do too, But like I can't stand Ryan Brown,
but I don't know that I hate the Brewers.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Oh yeah, because he's a big fat cheater and cheat cheat.
Yeah yeah, but like they're like the reason you don't
believe is also the reason why they're special, like you
look and you're like Quinn Priester is a magician and
then he got blown up, but then they picked him up.
Jose Kingtana just went six without giving any earned runs.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
He's been pretty good they have.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
But all of these guys that shouldn't be like incredible,
they are step While you have Freddy Peralta, while you
have miz while Woodruff has come back and been awesome.
It's like your I really truely think, truly think it's
like the ancillary pieces. The bottom of the Brewers lineup
last night had three hits, two runs and two RBIs.
That's from the seven, eight to nine hitter. That's not
(34:17):
happening with the Yankees. That's not happening with the Mets.
You know, these teams that are losing, they're not getting
the support in the bullpen, they're not getting the bottom
of the order, and everybody is doing it for the Brewers.
It's crazy and this fantasy relevant. I mean, Ortiz had
a stolen base and he was hitting nine. Isaac Collins
is out there south freelik, Like there's some like rotational
fantasy value out of all of these Brewers guys.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Dude, yeah, there is. I just saw some breaking news.
You want to hear it? All right, it's O's related
that the O's are shutting down Felix, Bautista and Zach
Eflin right now.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
So okay, so say it again.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
No more Batista, Felix Fatista, and Zach Afflin both shut
down for the season.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
So that's like a Keegan age. It can tweet.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
Uh for he just he just blew a save the
other day.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Yeah, I know, but they're still going to him. But
that's probably him. Eflyn's brutal. I thought you were going
to break a new.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Significant shoulder injury and for Batista, and he's gonna have
further examination later this week. Man that after TJ Now
the shoulders going Yeah, not great, man, I.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Thought you were gonna break that. Jeff pass and tweeted
about Ethan holiday incited me. But this is also pretty
important news.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
Oh no, did he No? No, I thought that's what
you were Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
No, No, it's not gonna happen. But I thought that
you were going to have super fun news. Your foot
news was not fun. It was players are gone?
Speaker 3 (35:38):
What a does that? I was looking. I was looking
at standings following along in our discussion on my phone
and then this popped up.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
So yeah, don't love that. Don't love that. Efflyn can
cut dude. I mean Baltimore. Baltimore is ridiculous, by the way,
I said this a whole bunch. But that Yankees team,
if they can get themselves together, they in the season.
I think they have two series against Baltimore. They have
the wins and then they have the White Sox. Like
that's the greatest four game series to end the season
(36:04):
you could have. Why the Yankees didn't go out and
buy pieces, to me is still insane, still crazy, Like
we'll just get David Bednarn schedule. Yeah. Maybe they also,
like they clearly needed it because their bullpen has been steamed.
They had like the fourth worst bullpen in the AL
so far this year, and they.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Got all those truth that the Yankees have, Like I
think it's seven championships since like the modern era, like
nineteen sixty or something and one in the luxury tax era.
Is that right, that's real weird.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Well, they definitely didn't get it. They didn't get in
two thousand and one when you were in the stands
and the Diamondbacks beat the Yankees.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
Yeah, I was they were going for a three peat
and we're not able.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Yeah, Baseball couldn't even try to give me it to
them in two thousand and one and.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
There was the only time everyone was rooting for the
Yankees and they lost.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Luis Gonzales Hero, Arizona Hero. At least you were there,
I was.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
I have my ticket eighteen years old.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
You still have your ticket?
Speaker 3 (37:08):
Yeah, of course, Oh my god, dude.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Should you should have Louis Gonzalez sign it.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Uh, that's a good idea. So I have I have
a ball that I bought after the game. It's an
official World Series ball whatever, and I have the ticket
just slid into the into the holder and it's been
that way. I haven't touched it since the game.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
So I talked after we got to get you hooked
up with Luis Gonzalez. He will sign that. That would
be It's super easy to do. All right, Back to
stuff and things. Blake Snell five innings, ten strikeouts, free
walks against Toronto. There's a lot of like negative nancies
on if they trusted Blake Snell. You can trust Blake Snell.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
He's got you, man, I mean, Jake Sell. Jake Blake
Stale has been great. Uh, Jake Pummer. Uh No, Blake
Snell has been awesome. Uh, he's just been hurt. Like
but when he's been out there, he's been pretty good.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
Yeah. But like I remember I did doing a show
with Rico and was like, I don't know that's starting
Blake Snell.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
It's like, not it. If he's out there, he is
fully hydrated.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Now, he is hydrated as hell. He hasn't gone six
in a single start this year. I got good mine,
but he hasn't given up more than three year in
runs and he's getting his strikeouts, and I feel like
I need I want to do a podcast with Blake Snell.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Man. I know everyone's complaining about money and they're scared,
but I gotta get mine.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
It's like I got a got a mas of Roddy.
He's like he got his crazy cars too, Like he
just does not care. He flaunts that stuff like he
trips me out. He's hilarious. Rookie is speaking of another
Rokye Sazaki making a rehab start on Thursday. The plan
is three innings. Still don't think there's a lot of
fantasy relevance for it. I'm not going out there to
pick him up. If you guys want to. I suppose
you can, but I don't really think there's a great
(38:53):
home for him. But maybe he'll have refound the stuff.
I think he's the next year guy. That's what you
gotta play. Hunter Green is going to start on Wednesday,
thank you very much. Are you golden to put him
out on his first start back?
Speaker 3 (39:05):
I mean golden, I don't know who are they playing again?
A team playing a team? Thank you? Phill not great? No,
then no, I'm not pass I might still do it.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
He's got who he's got going up against Cris Sanchez, though, Skip,
I'm probably still putting him out there. But you know what,
I was putting Ryan Nelson out there yesterday, and Ryan
Nelson was incredible through like four and then he ended
up having a dog crap start because did you see
Merrill by the way, mentioned he was like, yeah, somebody
didn't think through when I got traded. Was seeing that
(39:42):
big sign that showed Corey Seger hitting that homer in
the World Series?
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Yeah, I mean every time I see Cory Seger, I
want tom He's the modern like every Yankee fan feels
about Gonzo.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
So yeah, but like there are dudes that just own
that just own you, and I don't. I don't know
if I know all the other team ones, and I'd
be curious. If people tell, they'll let me know. But
like Andre Ether used to own the Diamondbacks, it wasn't
even funny. Corey Seeger owns the Diamondback Who are those players?
(40:16):
I feel like doesn't judge, like own the Blue Jays
or something like. There's some of those players that they
just absolutely go ham against certain teams. And Corey Seeger
is just he's a nightmare fuel for the Diamondback member.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
Todd Helton used to rock us and Adrian Gonzalez used
to rock our ass.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
When a lot of guys that make a lot of
really good contact that aren't like meant to be power hitters,
that's what the Diamondbacks do. So Ryan Nelson, uh, let's
some other stuff. Josh Hater was held out Monday, dude
to left shoulder discomfort. No why now. Luis Garcia hasn't
played since Thursday with back tightness. That is the Nationals.
Speaker 3 (40:49):
Luis Garcia, you know what that was over the weekend.
Let me see if he played yesterday, because double check,
we were gonna record yesterday, but we just couldn't.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
Yes, it was my fault.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
Garcia did not play. Oh no he did. He just
lowered the lineup he had eight. Yeah, yeah, he played
over the three. It gets pin him and he's been
too right he has. He's not having a great year, remember, but.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Just people falling over themselves, like.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
Sixty one nine homers, nine stolen.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
Bases, mid mid mid mid just sucks.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
Yeah, twenty two doubles nice, but the bombs so not great.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
They got the I think he can kick rock soon.
Let Brady House be like your second basement if you
want or whatever. Like they got all the young guys
that they just drafted. He like will It's like not
long for him Byrobucks and active hitter from the d
I L thank you. Brendonovan scratched on Saturday with groin tightness.
Didn't play on Sunday, but now we have the dreaded.
(41:53):
Did he play on Monday?
Speaker 3 (41:55):
I think he did play. I think I remember seeing
him in there.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
All right, so we're just giving you extra credit.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
News here the Rockies. This this sheet was made for yesterday.
Actually he did not.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
Oh he pinched it. He ended up Yeah, rb I double,
but didn't start. So that's a pretty good sign. Michael
King was activated two innings to earned runs one strikeout
against Boston, so they're gonna baby that bad boy. Cole
Reagan's through his first bullpen. This is I think on Monday, Gary,
(42:30):
Oh okay today, this was today, and ironic, I didn't
see this piece of news gart Cole starting a throwing
program on Monday.
Speaker 3 (42:36):
That was today.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
Also, yeah, good sign, good sign for this coming week.
A couple other just little news and notes that are
floating out there. Luis morales A's prospect. He was able
to get a start two and two thirds, four strikeouts,
but had walk issues five walks, but didn't give up
an earon runs or hit. So super weird. Travis Bazana
option to triple A. I do think that's a guy
(42:58):
that you could potentially see. I think there are clear
cut guys. August sixteenth, it's like the day that's the
day after the fifth fifteenth, but it is the day
where like no prospect can be on the roster for
forty five days, so you can keep his prospect eligibility
their prospect eligibility until next season. So I think like
Bubba Chandler, Andrew Painter, Bryce Eldridge, like those are like
(43:22):
Locke type of dudes. But then there are some guys
that were just sent up to Triple A, Carson Binge,
Jonah Tong, and Travis Bizana. I think all are possibilities
if a team really wants to give them a cup
of coffee. So Bazanna could come up, So just be
on the lookout for it. I wouldn't anticipate, like Jiji
Weatherhold to be another one. I'm not sure I would anticipate.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
So Friday's the last day to get him on the
roster to have him be playoff eligible? Is that the deal?
You know?
Speaker 2 (43:48):
I don't know if it's playoff I think playoff eligible
is August thirty. First, this is prospect eligibility. Oh this
is like yeah yeah, So like they could still be
eligible for the PPI for next season if they do that.
Luis Savarino IL Oblique Strain no Bueno Mount Castle activated.
He's been out since May, while they placed Tyler O'Neill
back on the IL Aaron Nola two and two, three
(44:11):
and two thirds in sixty nine pitches, so not very nice,
but next start he should be up. Christian Xavier five innings,
five k's against Boston. Coming off of Tommy John and
Shye McClanahan surgery to repair a nerve issue, he will
be out till next season.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
So absolute disaster in the beginning of next season is
also in question, they say, with this nerve issue recovering,
so uh, didn't play at all in the beginning of
next year is now in question.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
So don't love it. All right, let's take a break,
we come back. Let's take a look at some of
the pitching performances. Let's use some of the stuff in
things hitters and closers, and we'll do that right after this.
Do you want to do more? You want to stop here,
Let's just stop there? Okay, is this thing for just
some of the hitters. We'll just do it live.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
Yeah, I f I so I added there. I forgot
the hit Yeah I know, I just like, but I
had all the old info, so I deleted it and
just put the link. Cool.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
Yeah, that's perfect. So then we'll just pick up after.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
It's in this league, no one ask anything ever, So
who's in this league?
Speaker 2 (45:17):
Why don't you take a letter? All right, let's take
a look at the hitters. Taking a look at the
hitters over the last seven days. Your hits leader over
the last seven days, Xavier Edwards, and I feel like
he has been on this twice. Here bogs fourteen hits
over the last six games. That almost doesn't seem real.
(45:37):
Five stolen bases as well, Just want to throw that out.
He's probably going to be near the lead, if not
the lead. But Xavier Edwards, dude, level back rising. He's
kind of popped up and down. Hitting over three hundred,
twenty two stolen bases on you know, around four hundred bats,
one homer, no power to speak of, like whatsoever. Looks
like he's lining out to be like a seventy five run,
(46:00):
thirty stolen base, high batting average guy. So it's like
two and a half category player. Think seventy five if
he was like a ninety run player, I think, now
you're like a three category guy. But he's not Chandler
Simpson of the infield. But it's also not too shabby.
And he's your hits leader again.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
And the nice thing is is that that's like two
and a half good categories and then two and a
half that aren't killing you, you know, like that that's
really what makes him valuable is he's also not just
miserable at something else, right maybe, oh no.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
He's the worst at home. He is an absolute nothing
burger at Homers.
Speaker 3 (46:35):
I thought he had like five or six he has one.
Speaker 2 (46:37):
No, he was one, absolutely when he is a the
epitome of a nothing burger in Homers, rbies, you could like,
you know, if he gets to fit on a full season,
maybe he get to fifty. That's like it's a pseudokiy.
That's why I say, if his runs are up, he's
a three category player. Best he could be as a
three and a half category player. He'll never be a
(46:58):
homer guy.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
I mean, I guess he does suck at homers, so
that that's things. But you can make up, Like power
is the one thing that you can definitely make up
so well.
Speaker 2 (47:06):
You can make it up when you're getting a three
hundred average, you're getting thirty plus stolen bases, and you're
getting some runs. That was always my argument of like,
like I would take Xavier Edwards over a rise. You know,
when Arise was hitting for the high average, it was
just like maybe two categories. Yeah, it's it, but like
if you can get the babe run, But that's what
makes it Chanler Simpsons so interesting as well. So he's
(47:27):
up at the tippy top. Junior Camonaro, Carlos Korea, and
Adam Fraser all tied with ten coming in at nine.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
Happy to be back in Houston. Looks like he's got
to be, is it?
Speaker 2 (47:36):
John happy? John? Like wouldn't he wouldn't relent that he
was happy that Correa was back. He's the only Astro
fan I think that exists.
Speaker 3 (47:43):
But like, you got to be happy to get your
crew back, and he's definitely happy that Correa is back. Yeah,
I think most people, the most as fans didn't want
them to take that contract. Like you know, it's a
giant contract. And if you're not if you weren't going
to pay Tucker, why would you go then in trade
for this contract? I think, or if you weren't going
to pay Bragmant. I think that was the initial annoyance
of Astros fans. But like Minnesota paid thirty million of it,
(48:05):
you didn't have to give up that much. Like I
think it just makes sense. You need it, you need
the runs.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
There's a different five. But like I'd be excited if
if Goldchman came back to the Diamondbacks, like I love sure,
but like I guess he also didn't like I don't know.
I felt like if I were an Astro fan, I
would be excited that Korea is back, but John wouldn't
give me anything. He's just like, I just want some
live bodies.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
And it's like John was just like, just give me
somebody that can hit. That's what he wanted at the deadline,
was like, you know, I know we could use the
starter here, we have injuries, but I just want Like
all the Astros fans are frustrated by the you know,
the trainers because they've had so many injuries this year.
And like even the game that I went to, before
first pitch, Jake Myers had to leave and get replaced
(48:46):
defensively before the first pitch of the game. So they've
had some injury issues. They haven't been scoring run so
it's just like, just give me anybody that'll hit.
Speaker 2 (48:56):
You know.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
I'm sure some people are annoyed by Korea because of
the cheating stuff and all that, but they just need
a bat, so.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
Shouldn't be Yeah, but he's been good. Fraser is a
weird one that's in there also on the list. You
had a bunch of guys with nine Perdomo's in there,
Jeffers lux Otanill his real estate deals, and well, I
was going as Collins is the one that I want
to talk about because, as mentioned before, he's up. He's
right there in the NL race. Eight homers, thirteen stolen
(49:25):
bases at two ninety seven average in just under three
hundred at bats. So if you play extrapolation, you're looking
at like, you know, if you want to low end it,
fifteen twenty five, high end it, you could go twenty
thirty if you were to really play it out. Collins
is a pretty damn interesting player. Underlying profile isn't doesn't
(49:46):
to me feel like someone that's sustainable. That would be
my problem with him. Six percent barrel, forty percent hard
hit rate, Okay, does get in the ball in the air,
you like that doesn't hit it hard, doesn't strike you know,
like it's fine, Like these are things that are fine.
So I would lan he's more of a like ten
twenty guy, you know, with a good average, But he's
playing himself into a spot where you know, brew's doom
(50:07):
fine without him right now with Cheerio, and then he
might get himself. I think he's got locked down playing
times of the season. I can pull him up.
Speaker 3 (50:14):
Yeah, no, no, no, don't pull him up. I want
to ask you something. Oh what do you think? What
do you think he's hitting post break?
Speaker 2 (50:20):
Oh gosh, I think he's he's probably murder balling at
like three point fifty.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
Three eighty eight. Yeah, post break, hit two fifty nine
pre break. And he does have massive splits, but it's
they're good still. Is three twenty two against righty's two
fifty five against lefties. That's a massive split, but two
fifty five is fine. And then home and away two
forty seven and three fifty four better on the road,
(50:45):
two forty seven on home, three fifty four away. That's
forty eight games home, forty five games away. So you know,
massive splits, but nothing negative. So yeah, all wheels up,
Frise of Collins. He looks great right now.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
I think there is a wheels up in the Homer department.
You've got your leader, Junior Camonaro, five homers coming in second.
You got Corman, Carroll Shoheio Toni I and Marcelo Zuna
in the three. You got a bunch of dudes with
three like a litany of them, William Contreras, Devers cal
Rally's in their soda Strom Soda. It keeps going down.
Ernie Clement is an interesting one, though high average hasn't
(51:22):
been like a big, big power guy. Let's take a
look at Clement and see if there's anything you could
be down holding. It's eight homers, three stolen basis, so
it's like almost half of his homers came within the
last week. Averages up. Though Buddy is pushing eighty to
ninety runs, which is actually like incredibly impressive because he's
just been out there all year. Kind of a nothing
burger on the RBI department stolen bases. I don't know,
(51:44):
what do you think, Like, I see the points league
appeal that's here with him. You love if there'd be
a power boost, But I just I don't really think
that's real. So I'm a seller on that. I think
you'd have to be desperate for batting average and runs
to roster Clement right now?
Speaker 3 (51:58):
Uh yeah, I think you know Clement is fine, but
he's not special. He's not doing anything great. What Clement
is to me is he is an injury fill in
that won't hurt you, right, Like, he's not killing you anywhere,
but he's definitely not helping you either. He's just kind
of a jag. So he's fine, but wait, wait for
(52:20):
the spike in production to start him unless you have
an injury.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
Going over to runs, Jerks and Profar led the way
this best we could nine runs scored. He also almost
had double the walks to strikeouts and one of the
best catches of the year. Absolutely ridiculous in the corner.
If you guys saw that a couple Homers Corbyn, Carrol
Showho Tani with the second most runs with seven, and
then the sixth marker had a few guys that had Kemin, Arrow,
(52:48):
Rosereina Clement again, Isaac Collins and Katel Marte. What about Profar,
I feel like Profar, I mean, I know, like piece
of PA was just like so negative about Profar with
the whole you know, the PD stuff, Da Da Da
probably is not lighting the world up. He is only
hitting two thirty eight, his expected batting average is even lower,
bigg decrease in hard hit percentage while he's barreling better,
(53:10):
so that this almost feels like sample size doesn't tell everything,
but they're The one noticeable difference here is that he
is hitting the ball a lot less hard, which definitely
would speak to the like performance enhancing people you know
that are like or you know, like that would speak
to that, you know, but he's we're supposed to last long.
(53:31):
I mean, that's what I was actually saying. I was like,
I don't think that to be out of his system
quite like, you know, the what it does for you.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
Is probably yeah, lots of benefits, but it like the
cycles matter and all that stuff, Like maybe he's cycling
completely off. I have no idea, And I think when
you cycle off you feel miserable too.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
It's about like body restoration and like how you can
work out and how your body can keep going. So like, yeah,
maybe there's more fatigue and there's a little bit of
wear down or you know, something like that is floating
out there.
Speaker 3 (53:59):
But man, him than Clement way more. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:03):
Yeah, but that's what kind of my main point, Like
I think Profar is just kind of getting rolling here.
Like I'm not sure if like when I when I look,
I'm like, I don't know if I feel that the
PD stuff like oh, clearly that coming down, Like yeah,
I can't hit the ball hard, He's gonna become super average,
or when you look and it's like, well, hitting the
ball harder, he's not striking out more, he's walking a
(54:23):
little bit more. He's still pulling the ball. He's actually
pulling the ball in the air this year more than
he was last year. And he's got his own contact
percentage two percent better than last year. So it's like,
I don't know that could actually he could maybe still
turn this around and be better. I would. I think
he's a waiver wire pickup floating out there.
Speaker 3 (54:39):
Yeah, I think so too. You know, I'm not I'm
not gonna poo pool him, but yeah, that's what he
is right now. Is he's fifty to fifty on your roster.
Speaker 2 (54:50):
A couple of interesting names in the RBI market more
than anything is just like these names pop up, which
makes it interesting. Two catchers lead. It is cow Rowley
with the most RBIs in last week. But I'll that's
so Drake Baldwin. Drake Baldwin continues to be on that list.
I think, you know, top ten catcher. He floats out there.
They both had ten, Cameron Arow and Ozuna with eight,
Corbyn Carroll with seven with Trey Turner and Luke Keishel
(55:11):
there's another one, Keishel one homer seven RBI eight hits
three eighty one average over this last week Keishel or
Colson Montgomery. I think I asked I think I asked
a Rico that this past week Montgomery just hit another bomb.
His average is still a little stinky Keshell two three
(55:33):
eighty six, five stolen bases in fifty plate appearances with
two homers four to seventy one OBP. You know, like
there's a lot that looks good. Hitting profile is kind
of all over the board right now, like he barrels
and gets it in the air, but he really doesn't
hit it super hard. So I think contact numbers are
hard to kind of, you know, project, But which one
(55:54):
would you want? Montgomery or Keishel.
Speaker 3 (55:56):
I think I want Keishall give me that batting average
in the swipes. I for most of my squads, I
have stone bases. It might matter, or I have a
power I'm looking for stone bases, so that might matter,
like just context, but I think just generally i'd rather
a Kishaw.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
And then on the stolen bases. Exavier Edwards and Jacob
Marcy want to talk about Marci. They both over last
week week have had five. I love the Marlins accounts,
getting excited about it, and like at nauseum, I can
keep explaining how much I love Jacob Marcy succeeding with
how much s I got about Jacob Marci in the AFL.
(56:34):
So it truly makes me happy seeing Marcie succeed. And
then like Josue Bersinio is in like the top thirty
of like Pipelines, New Update, Like those things make me
feel great because people just chirp in like oh and
it's just like okay, well there was a lot more
to it. Jacob Marsci's profile is ridoculous. It's stupid.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
It's it's only.
Speaker 2 (56:54):
Thirty eight bats, but the stuff if qualified, you know
number one and expect the batting average. He's a thirteen
barrel that's like top twenty five percent, a hard hit
rate fifty two. He's the squared up rate, which is
that Mookie Bett thing I was talking about. Great, he's
not chasing, he's not with things locking. He looks ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (57:13):
Yeah all right, Bob, quit listing things. Let me do
this real quick, how far like this as soon as
the struggle happens? How like what is the leash here
because this is what eleven games, twelve games, he.
Speaker 2 (57:26):
Probably shouldn't even be owned in ten team league. So
that's kind of the problem with him. Like if you
want to do the thing in deeper, yeah, like a
week of bad Marcy is a guy that you can drop.
But that's what's nice about especially like there's like the
veterany players when need you, guys at Coles to Montgomery
and Jacob Marcy, like those are prospects that have these
warts that people feel blut about that they're they're a
(57:49):
lot weirder to move. So for me, I just am
like I love these guys because then if they stink
for two or three games, they're so much easier to cut.
But it's like what Marcy's doing right now, the profile
is telling you so much. He's also hitting left, he's
and right. He's so well, but like you just you can't.
It's so hard to pull anything off of like thirty
eight bats. You know, like everything could turn around, but
(58:10):
so far, so good. Five stolen bases and thirty eight bats.
He's got a homer in there. He's hitting the ball
really hard right now. He's getting it in the air,
which are things you love any Walks, so he's really
patient hitter. So Jacob Marcy is someone that you know,
I guess I need to see some like hoojia rathers
like from people. But I think Marcy's a guy. I
(58:32):
think I might go Mark. I mean that one's probably
choked up to like what do you need infield or outfield?
I think you can move either one. So I guess
I would be comfortable moving off of Luke for Marcy
if need.
Speaker 3 (58:43):
Be okay, So he's just in that group. Like what
about Marci versus Profar?
Speaker 2 (58:50):
See that I think I could go Marcie right now
because I feel like I'm not losing too much floor
with Profar and I'll just play the upside game and
I'll just cut Marcie if I need to. But I
would rather play his upside right now.
Speaker 3 (59:01):
I think I'd rather have Profar. But it's not you know,
I'm not dying on that hill, you know what I mean? Like,
I mean, he's a vet. We've seen him do it before.
Maybe things adjust quickly for Marci because his success was
so quick as well. So I think I'd rather go
for a sure thing in Profar. But there is more
upside for Marcie, so I completely understand that play as well.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
With three Josh Naylor and Tyler Tolbert with the Royals.
And then he got you know, a bunch of two's
that are out there in the big stolen based market.
So those are some of your big hitters. Going over
to the pitchers, we got the big guys, some of
the big guys with the high percentages of Jacob de
Gram eight strikeouts and six and two third with three
earned runs, quality start, Shot Too Emanaga. That was it's
(59:44):
the Phillies, by the way, Chow Too Imanaga against the
Cardinals six and two thirds, nine strikeouts, three earned runs,
very nice. Dylan Cees against Boston six innings, two earned runs,
seven k's and if I remember it correctly, they were
just like quick to get him out of there too,
like Mount Press. I think the pitch count might have
even been a tiny bit more manageable.
Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
They just said, like.
Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
We're good and go to that amazing bullpen. So that's
that's I think that it really could be like a
game changer for him, but you know, get him to
lower innings even if you don't get quality starts at
this point, like do anything with Dylan Cees, Brian Wu
Tampa Bay six innings, three and runs, nine strikeouts, Sonny
Gray seven innings, five strikeouts against the Cubs, Chris Sanchez
six innings, six strikeouts, wonner and run against Texas. All
(01:00:31):
pretty dang good starts here against good teams. Like the
only one I see that's questionable is like Emon Auger
against the Cardinals. Like they're not the best right now.
Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
Yeah, they're in the there, I guess right now they're
not playing well, but yeah, but inspected coming in.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
They're not like the Twins, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
Uh, Brandon Woodruff has come back and been just pretty good,
hasn't he has? He had a bad start yet.
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
I think on I thought there was one.
Speaker 3 (01:00:59):
He had one where he went four and a third
against Washington. That was his second start on July twelfth,
and he went four and a third five hits to earn,
but he had ten strikeouts. Every other game is a
quality start. Six innings against Seattle, two hits, five strikeouts,
then six innings against Miami, six strikeouts, one earned at
(01:01:23):
Washington six innings to earned, eight strikeouts, and then this
one against the Mets seven innings to earned, two walks,
eight strikeouts, Woodruff has just come back and picked up
right where he left off with no issues after being
gone for so long.
Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
He's why this team has been so good too. One
hundred percent. Andrew Abbott seven thirds, three and a run,
six strikeouts against the Phillies. Huge start. I know a
Rico is really dicey about that, but Abbot getting going.
I had to pull this up too. Gallon Colorado six innings,
earned run, six strikeouts. I know it's called Colorado and stuff,
and we can kind of pick on that in general.
I guess if you for Gallon right now, yeah, yeah,
(01:02:01):
that's kind of where I was going to go. Like
three starts ago, you know, Pittsburgh, he didn't pitch particularly,
it wasn't horrible with six innings, four and runs, five k's.
I think that's like, that's fine. It's not a quality start,
but it's fine. And then you could pick that. He
did the A's and the Rockies here. But in August
he technically has a two two five ERA, nine strikeouts
(01:02:22):
in twelve innings. He's only given up three ear in runs,
he hasn't given up a homer yet, whips a little
bit high. I think the last three starts have been
kind of promising. I think there's something there, Like I
think Gallon's finding some of that confidence he can in
the season a little bit better. I'm not saying he's
available maybe ten team leagues, he's floating out there. But
what I'm getting is, I feel like my comfort level
(01:02:42):
is rising a little bit with getting him starts on
my own team.
Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
I agree about you, Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
Agree, And we're like eighty percentile range here of ownership
Lozardo against Texas four strikeouts, six innings. You like to
see that Mackenzie Gore good bounce back against the Giant
six innings, ten strikeouts, his ownership percentage you dropped to eighty.
I think after that absolute just I think he's the
opposite of Woodruff.
Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
I think Gore has been bad, Like, isn't this isn't
this like his only good start since the break?
Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
Well that's possible because there's only been a couple, but
like he had a horrific like didn't get to the
second inning, like eight nine earned run.
Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
I'm not sure he was garbage since the break. Okay,
it has been Yeah, one decent start in here, and
that one it wasn't even good against San Diego two
and a third eight five innings with six walks and
four strikeouts. Only one earn against Washington. That one was okay,
five and a third gave up six, three innings, gave
up eight. This is the only good start since the break,
(01:03:40):
and that's five starts.
Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
So but he'd had a great season, so it's like,
you hope that that kind of turns around. When you
look at some lower percentage stuff, these are like under
seventy percent on on Yahoo ed Cabrera eight innings, eleven
strikeouts against Atlanta. Chase Burns. You love this one for
Chase Burns. My boy, I think I was like four
straight games, had ten strikes outs, six innings, one and run,
(01:04:02):
one walk against Pittsburgh. I had a constant argue thing
with piece Apia about Chase Burns because he just got
it in his ass that Chase Burns is a thrower,
not a pitcher. And he's like, it's not even clothes
Burns and Miserski, and I'm like, dude, you're just off.
I'm like, like it's okay, Like we're off about that.
You're just not right about Chase Burns. Now, to be fair,
(01:04:24):
he's got a five VRA completely acknowledge that. But when
we're talking about the totality of like who this guy is,
I'm like, you're you're wrong. He's got a three to
one one expected ERA with a thirty seven percent k
percentage and an eight percent walk rate. Those will fly.
That's an over two run differential between his current and
(01:04:45):
his expected in the positive direction. Yes, it was Pittsburgh,
but Chase Burns Dudish Gildo seven innings, five strikeouts. Sure's
your six innings, five strikeouts, Clayton Kershaws six innings, four strikeouts.
You're picking one? Is it Chase Burns? Are you gonna
go with more of a that like Kershaw or gi
Alito or even Cabrera will throw in there, anybody that's
under the seventy percent.
Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
Marker, No, it's Burns for sure there, And look, the
dude has had eight starts, right is era sucks? It's
five two four, but a siers two five eight.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Yeah, series even better than they expected era. Yeah, So
it's Burns for me with a bullet Burns baby. All right,
these are some under fifty percent performances from this week.
We'll go on little blocks here. Will Warren six and
two thirds seven strikeouts against Minnesota forty nine percent. You
Darvish against the Giants went six one earn run six
strikeouts forty one percent. Jose Kintana Pittsburgh six innings, one
(01:05:37):
and and run three strikeouts, and Jose Siriano gainst the
Dodgers went six innings, he pouk only two hits, know
and run six strikeouts thirty six percent. Pick one from
that group.
Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
Give me a run through the group again.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Will Warren, You, Darvish, Kintana, and Soriano forty nine percent
down to thirty six percent. That's our first group.
Speaker 3 (01:05:59):
Who who does Darvin? I know Darvis has another start
this week. Who is it against?
Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
I guess my question, my answer while you're looking is
Will Warren because I think the Yankee schedule is wildly
favorable for the rest of the way through. I thought
he looked really good. Yes, it's Minnesota. You got a
tough series coming up where you've got I think I
think it's Tampa and Boston, so Will Warren to go
up against Boston. But then, dude, it just keeps going
into like Twins and White Socks and Baltimore and all
(01:06:27):
that type of stuff, and it's just like I like
I like where he's heading a six and two thirds.
You know, they do have depth at the bullpen when
they're locking, it is Will Warren for me.
Speaker 3 (01:06:35):
In that group, Warren is going to have Saint Louis
Darvish has the Dodgers, Kingtana has Cincy in Sinsei, and
Soriano's got the A's in Oakland, So gimme Warren as well.
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Yeah, And I was talking more like rest of season.
If you're doing individual starts, you could definitely play like I.
Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
Think everything is individual starts right now.
Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
But that's a good point.
Speaker 3 (01:07:03):
The rest of the season it's still Will Warn But
I also like Soriano.
Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
The only the only thing I could point to is
I do think Will Warren has rest of season vibes
where I think the next names Yeah, yeah, you're right,
the next group of names aren't exactly rest of season vibes.
Colin Ray twenty three per six and when six innings,
six strikeouts against the Cardinals, gave up one and run
Walker Buehler against the Padres six innings, four strikeouts, nowhere
(01:07:29):
and runs. Toma Yoku Sugano against the A's seven innings,
four strikeouts, Ryan Bergert against the Royals when five and
two thirds with eight strikeouts and I don't even third
throw on Hurston waldr Rett versus Miami six innings, six strikeouts.
Pick one?
Speaker 3 (01:07:44):
Oh god, no, you pick one.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
I don't want one here. Yeah, I think it brought
Walker Bueler. That's encouraging. With this race that's going on,
I guess I would strikeouts. Yeah, but seven innings A's like,
I'm I'm doing best Matt of this group, and you
know what I was going to get the rest of
the I don't think the next group of like eleven
percent down Kate Povich, Tywan Walker, Michaels, Jake, Jack Perkins, McGreevy, Alexander,
(01:08:09):
and Lord. They all had good performances.
Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
I don't know better.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
I'm sure I want to get into streaming unless it's
like a really bad team. I mean, like Jason Alexander
against the Yankees awesome. Michael McGreevey against the Cubs, that's great.
I just don't know my trust level on any of
those guys.
Speaker 3 (01:08:26):
Yeah, I think I'm with you. My trust level is
pretty shakey. I'm looking more for matchups against bad teams
than i am for specific pictures.
Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
Yeah, exactly. All right, So closers, blown saves, slash losses.
David Bednar had a blown save, but I believe he
got the win. Robert Swarez with the blown save, Carlos
Estevez a loss, Kegan Allen a loss, Edwin, Diaz a loss,
Vessia a loss, Hoffman, salf Frank or Hoffman a blown save,
Suth Frank a loss, Hoffman a blown save. I want
to say, oh, you did. I want to say Hellsley
(01:08:56):
had a blown save in there as well.
Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
I think you, yeah, you did. Not the closer Diaz
is the closes, that's true.
Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
I forgot these are like the closers that were the.
Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
Reason I put Saal Frank and Hoffman. Those were both yesterday.
But ginkles to the I l like, no one is left.
They're doing closer by committee with Saal, Frank and Hoffman.
So it's disgusting.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
But yeah, by the way, Jeff Hoffman before that, this
is crap. Andrew Andrew Hoffman, who they got from the Royals.
So south Frank with the loss and Hoffman with the
blown said, there's no guy. I think there is one.
Makes it super interesting about the Mason Miller stuff. You know,
like if there's another one in there. There's been times
where the Padres have got disenchanted with like the fastball
(01:09:36):
stuff with Suarez that could lead to something. Bednar Last
night looked good. He came in and you know it
wasn't a closed situation, but he came in the ninth
with a four run lead, and he locked it down
after Weaver went.
Speaker 3 (01:09:49):
So I think I do if Hater missed his time,
I think that's my he is.
Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
He's already on the I l I think that one
thing put him on the I l oh, yeah, we
we uh, you had the note for it, but like
twenty minutes before we started and we just didn't see it.
It looks like they put him on.
Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
The il Okay, I didn't see that. So Susan got
to save last night. But King has been good. He's
there as well, Okert. I mean, I just don't know
who they're going to go to the night because Susan
got to save. It was four pitches, so it wasn't
like he did a bunch of work. Oker got the
hold on nineteen pitches. They just signed Annuel de la Santo's.
Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
I guess I would lean, I would lean Susa.
Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
Yeah, they got to save last night, so I guess, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
That would be mind lean, but they could also play
rotational stuff, which is kind of nasty. Well, here's some
non closer saves. We had Matt Brash too, because Munos
had thirty six pitches in the previous two days so
on the first save and then nineteen before on the second,
so Brash is always the big setup guy there.
Speaker 3 (01:10:55):
They just keep winning games.
Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
Yeah, Mason Fleuardi, will Ve Bennett, SUSA, who you mentioned,
Ryan kirk Ring, all of those I don't think, I
mean outside of SUSA. That's the one that kind of
I think jumps into this. Everybody else it's kind of
a nothing burger.
Speaker 3 (01:11:12):
Yeah, Invest was nice, but he got the same because
Finnigan got the win that game was tied. The dude,
Yeah yeah, the rest of SUSA is the guy. Out
of this group, Susa's the dude. That's it.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
That's what we got, breaking down some closers, some pitchers, hitters,
lots of other fun stuff. Hopefully getting you guys set
day late. Apologies for that, but getting you guys set
for the episode. I'll be back later in the week.
Enjoy too, because remember only a couple more like two
episode weeks left September, we go down to one. We'll
start kind of also doing some prep into the new year.
But we're here for you and gonna throw this out.
(01:11:48):
There's the potential we might even drop some like live
episodes in September just to answer questions since his playoffs
and stuff. So that could either be done via Patreon
or just on the main stuff. So the big thing
to do follow us on Patreon and subscribe in this
league dot com. We'd love it. We'll love you. Make bogmintaller.
Speaker 3 (01:12:07):
But also.
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
Go and check out YouTube dot com slash in this league,
and then Twitch dot tv slash in this league, just
so you're following all the things. If we do decide
to go live at any time, just make sure you're
there and you're not missing out on any of it.
That is going to do it. I'm still waiting for
my accreditation from Jeff Passen or Rosa Thal or somebody.
We will all wait for it together for Bogman, I'm Welsh.
I'm reporting breaking news. We're out of here.
Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
Goodbye, Siam
