In this episode of The Inclusive Dad podcast, host AAron sits down with Emily Levy, founder of EBL Coaching, to explore practical strategies for inclusive education. Emily shares her journey growing up in special education, the importance of early advocacy, and how research-based multisensory techniques help all students thrive. They dive into empowering parents, navigating IEPs, and the vital role empathy plays in inclusion. Whether you're new to special education or a seasoned advocate, this conversation will leave you inspired and better equipped to support every learner’s success.

Key Takeaways:

Parent Advocacy Matters – Parents know their children best and should lead the charge in education planning and communication.

Multisensory Teaching – Visual, tactile, and auditory methods benefit not just students with disabilities but all learners.

Empathy Builds Belonging – Uplifting students and celebrating strengths helps counter low self-esteem and anxiety.

IEP Clarity – Understanding evaluations and Individualized Education Programs helps parents secure proper support.

Inclusive Classrooms Benefit All – Teaching strategies that help neurodiverse students often support everyone in the room.

Emily’s definition of inclusion:

Inclusion is providing the least restrictive environment for students and including them as much as we can within a population of neurotypical students.
