When celebrities clash at a funeral, who gets hurt the most? Welcome to this week’s Indie Artist Music Hustle with Blonde Intelligence. I’m your host Ms. Roni, where I always seek to give you exquisite cranial repertoire. The recent passing of R&B legend Angie Stone should have been a moment for unified grief and celebration of her artistic legacy. Instead, it became the backdrop for yet another chapter in the ongoing Tyler Perry and Monique saga that has left many fans questioning what happened to basic funeral etiquette.

Tyler Perry's decision to highlight Angie's disputes with Universal Music Group over royalty theft during her memorial service struck a discordant note in what should have been a harmonious tribute. While advocating for justice has its place, a funeral represents sacred ground where the focus belongs squarely on honoring the departed. Rather than sharing meaningful stories about Angie's musical contributions or personal character—like her powerful impact during a performance in Pine Bluff that reportedly coincided with a rare day of peace—Perry veered into territory many found inappropriate for the occasion.

Not to be outdone, Monique took to social media to voice her dissatisfaction with Tyler's behavior while simultaneously reigniting their personal feud. Though she offered praise for Angie's talent, her timing and platform choice further complicated an already delicate situation. Both figures' actions serve as a sobering reminder of the responsibility public figures carry, especially during moments of collective mourning. Their conduct raises important questions about the boundaries between personal vendettas and public respect, particularly when a community is processing grief.

Have you noticed other instances where celebrity conflicts overshadowed important moments of remembrance? Share your thoughts and join us next week for more cultural commentary that matters on Indie Artist Music Hustle with Blonde Intelligence.

Welcome to this week's IndieArtist, music Hustle with Blonde
Intelligence.
I'm your host, ms Ronnie, whereI always seek to give you
exquisite cranium repertoire.

(00:37):
This week I had several thingsthat I wanted to talk about,
things that I wanted to talkabout, but for me, the most
pressing thing I think is ofimportance was the I would say
the outburst between Tyler Perryand Monique, and although they
were not in the same ways, Ifeel like both of their conducts

(00:59):
were inappropriate, but I'mgoing to get into it.
The recent passing of R b singerangie stone has sparked a
significant conversation aboutthe conduct public figures
during moments of mourning atangie's funeral.
Tyler perry's decision tomention her ongoing disputes

(01:20):
with universal music groupconcerning alleged royalty theft
has raised eyebrows.
While his intention may havebeen to highlight the struggles
Angie faced in her career, thischoice seemed inappropriate for
such a sacred occasion.
Funerals serve as a space forreflection and remembrance,
where the focus should be onhonoring the deceased rather

(01:42):
than delving into contentiousissues.
For example, a more fittingtribute from Perry to have
included information and storiesabout Angie's contribution to
R&B music, celebrating herartistic legacy rather than her
professional challenges, such asmy most memorable story of

(02:03):
Angie Stone was when she came toPine Bluff a few years ago.
I cannot remember the name ofthe event, but she came in Pine
Bluff.
If anybody know anything aboutPine Bluff is known for its
violence and its killing and notto say anything against Pine
Bluff because I live here and Ilike living here.
But if you google it it wouldsay one of the worst little

(02:25):
towns in America.
But the day that Angie Stonecame there was no violence in
the city at all.
So I think that it's momentslike that that contribute to a
person's memory, and I feel likethe way that they acted to me
was very out of place.
So let me get into the Moniquepart Now.

(02:48):
During the same time, moniquedid not agree with Tyler's
sentiments for Angie when shefelt that he had treated her
poorly and decided to hop herass on social media.
Monique's confrontation withTyler Perry further complicated
an already delicate situation.
Their longstanding feud is wellknown and bringing it to the

(03:09):
forefront during Angie'smemorial detracted from its
purpose of the gathering, whichwas to honor the life and legacy
of Angie Stone.
Funerals should allow thegrieving process to take
precedence, create anenvironment where attendees can
honor the deceased without theweight of personal conflicts
overshadowing the moment.

(03:30):
Now, although Angie did get onsocial media and say something
about this issue before herdeath, I just don't feel like it
was in Tyler's place to bringit up at her funeral.
I feel like that was herfamily's place to act.
Where's the money?
Not Tyler's place to bring itup at her funeral.
I feel like that was herfamily's place to act.
Where's the money?
Not Tyler's?
You agreed to pay for thefuneral.

(03:50):
Leave it at that.
Say some wonderful words aboutthe lady and stay out of her
personal business, because Ibelieve that if she was alive,
she probably would have told youto stay out of her personal
business like that.
So, instead of addressing herand Tyler's dispute dispute,
monique could have chosen toexpress admiration for angie's
talent and influence to theindustry, only because she did

(04:12):
say that you know, give somegood words and said that she
agreed with what tyler saidabout uh uh, angie.
But then she went into but this?
I feel like Monique could havechosen to express admiration and
contribute positively to theatmosphere of remembering her,

(04:35):
and that she should have pickedanother day and another time.
To me, both Tyler Perry andMonique's actions underscore the
essential need for decorumduring sensitification.
Their choices serves as areminder that personal
grievances should be set aside.
Particularly in the context ofmourning, the focus should

(04:57):
remain on the individual beinghonored, in this case Andy Stone
stone, whose life and legacydeserve celebration.
Instead of straying intopersonal conflict, public
figures should model the respectand reverence that such
occasions demand.
By doing so, they not onlyhonor the memory of the deceased
, but also provide comfort tothose who are grieving now.

(05:20):
I don't know if I spoke aboutthis, but I remember when Megan
and Nikki were beefy and Nikkijust went all out the way to try
to inflict emotional pain onMegan by talking about her
deceased mother.
I think people kind of likeslap Nikki on the hands.

(05:42):
But I believe it's becomingmore and more a problem to me.
But in my personal opinion, theactions of Tyler Perry and
Monique during a moment ofremembrance of the great Angie
Stone illustrates thecomplexities of public behavior
during times of loss.
Their decisions to addresspersonal matters in a space

(06:06):
meant for mourning weremisguided.
Moving forward, it is crucialfor public figures to reflect on
their actions and consider howthey can contribute to a
respectful and supportiveenvironment during memorials by
focusing on the positive aspectsof the deceased's life and
legacy.
Tyler, not where the money atDoing this can ensure that such

(06:31):
gatherings remain meaningful andimpactful to all its attendees,
and in this case, whether ornot no, you could attend.
But if you were a fan, friend, afamily member or anything
although Monique wants thatapology from Tyler that he
promised, she may not get it inthe way that she wants it, but

(06:55):
there's no excuse for puttingpersonal warrants ahead of
respect for someone else'smorning of remembrance.
Because you feel like that,it's a perfect time for you to
show your ass again, becauseMonique has showed her ass over
and over again and it's not tosay that people don't like her.
But damn, monique, you havingproblems with your own family

(07:15):
and your own son and you keepharping on Tyler instead of
fixing the things in your lifethat can be fixed.
But that's all that I have fortoday.
