(00:03):
That's right. It's the fourth weekof the Infectious Group podcast just for Funzies
tournament No Funzies. It's the fourthweek of the New Rounds. The New
Rounds. Yeah, I was like, I feel like we've been hearing this
from I thought your face said itwasn't for Funzies, but it was just
confusion that I wasn't understanding it.So anyways, you are hearing me.
My name is Rosson. Along withme as always is Kyle, and oh

(00:26):
I moved here. I moved youryour drop on the buttons. But Kyle
is with me along with Michelle ishere and she you guys, I wish
we did webcams because she looks sopleased. Every time that drop happened.
She gets so mad. It's it'swonderful you get mad. You should see
the feedback we got on all theepisodes leading up to it. So,

(00:47):
speaking of feedback, last week's episodewas in fact Dermott Kennedy's Without Fear LP
versus Pearl jam Ten. We allvoted on it. Kyle actually voted against
his own record last week, butbased on just Drink the Pearl jam Ten,
it's it's the hell of a record, So Michelle stood her ground.
Dugger heels in. If you knowMichelle personally, that is in no way,
shape or form a surprise. Michellestuck by Dermott Kennedy. So now

(01:11):
we did get a bunch of feedbackthis week, and this week was not
as close as last week's, butthere was still and we just talked about
it right before we go on air. There were a lot of people who
had never heard the record by DermotKennedy. And one of the reasons why
we even started the show was toget more people to listen to more music
and not say, oh, there'snothing out there that I want to listen
to. So it's great for usto see that. That makes me just

(01:34):
as happy as it as if itwould would have won. Yeah, right,
I was getting people to listen toit, So right now, I
wish I had that feeling about petSons, but I just can't. I
just can't. So anyway, speakingof all the feedback, we greatly appreciate
it. Let's get into it.Leave Joe, Oh, why about that
right and Roll be without faith backs? That's all right, David Gilmore,

(01:56):
where would rock and Roll bee withoutfeedback? Who's going first? Michelle and
Kyle got a whole bunch of feedbackto share with everybody. Michelle is sternly
pointing out they're rochan bowing for it. This is exciting both both scissors okay,
paper and rock. Who does thatmean I go first? Second?
Well they go just go first?Would you just go first? Yeah?
You just people to go first, that's what you do. All right,

(02:17):
here we go. Mario g saysthat he starts out, I'm saying he
was not or is not a bigPearl Jam fan. He doesn't dislike them,
but they're kind of just there forhim. He said ten is a
great album from start to finish. This is probably he's only third listen to
the whole record. He says thereare no stinkers as they say they being
you they in air quotes, Yeah, yeah, they being usually they is

(02:38):
the government, but hey but hashtagno stinkers. Yeah. Then he makes
a jab at Dermot Kennedy here andhe says that, yeah, I forgot
about that. Uh, he understandshow you could really enjoy this Mumford and
oh sorry Dermott Kennedy album. Mario, I will say Mario called me this
week to verbalize all of this yeah, so he said he can really enjoy

(03:04):
I don't think so either. Andhe also said, we've heard this album
several times before, and this isan air quote. Yeah, now it's
quotes we have to use. Wedon't have to. He said, it's
pretty much the same all the way. Unfortunately for Dermott, he ran into
an all time great album that hedoesn't stand a chance against, which is
true, which is kind of whathappened with you in your vote, Kyle

(03:25):
said, can't be disrespected any betterlike that? Yeah, he said that
what is the worst song on ten? And which I feel like we all
know My answer is yeah. There'sa lot of feedback about your answers,
but surprisingly his his his vote isfor Pearl Jam. Hard to believe.
There was a signature at the endof Mario's feedback. It's been reacted.

(03:46):
It's been redacted for well, it'sjust you can't say things on the show
unless they're totally factual. Oh yeah, and what he said is the remark
false? The remark well, theremark that he made is invis in progress,
so he can't just state it's comment. Bro, Kyle, what he
got I have something here from StacyR which I presume is the wifeie it
is, she says, Pearl Jam, no question. I like when I

(04:11):
saw that, I was like Ferrettstraightened to the point, you know,
And and I like that because thatencourages that, Like, I feel like
some people might go to our Facebookpage and see, like what a Chris
Adams or James Porter or Mario youknow might write and be like, I
don't know that much about this, you know, And it's okay to stop
by and just be like, here'smy truth bomb. By what else you
got? Kyle Joe Hart says,I really wanted to give that Dermot Kennedy

(04:32):
album that beat that crappy beach Bumsalbum out Lesson before passing judgment, but
life hasn't made that possible. Tenis easily on my top ten favorites of
all time and undeniably the best PJAalbum. So in clear Upisode, I'll
go with ten. So I doappreciate that he tried to find time for
Dermot Kennedy. Also, Ten isnot the best Pearl Jam album. Field

(04:54):
is the best Pearl Jam album,So I'll leave that discussion for a different
day. Oh don't worry, Joeand I have been arguing about me.
Is it really really hard for liketen years at least? So I'll take
that offline with with Joe Michelle. What else you got? Jamie p wrote
another novel which I love to read. His comments are so good, I
know, and they're so detailed. He just put for Pearl gem ten,

(05:14):
I mean, damn, the wholeband is on fire fire is I forgot
what it was in the tournament. There was my entire notes, let's say
Dark Side of the Moon, Myentire notes that I wrote down was I
mean, damn, I hear you, Jamie. He said that the at
the time, the vocals were onlike anything else that we had heard up
to that point. The lyrics werebrave for teckling abuse, suicide, violence,

(05:35):
bullying, and so much more inthose times that were not discussed.
It's a great point. The Aside of this album could go up against
just other any other album A side. And then he lists a couple,
like a dozen different A sides thathe would put it up against and it
would fair. Yeah, never mindthe Black album walked him, Baby,
Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic, Use Your Illusion one and two just
to name a few. Then hegoes on to talk those are all records

(05:57):
that came out the same years stillcame out and anyone that's still talking about
ten, you know what I mean? Like, and I'm not this is
not at all to like bag onone irist over another, but like,
what else do you know of?Really? Who still talks about the amazing
albums that came out in twenty ten? Nobody? But we all know twenty
one by Adele Right, Okay,so Pearl Jam ten was up against the

(06:17):
black album maybe Blood Sugar Sex Magiclike No More Tears. I don't even
know if he mentioned that by OzzieUse Your Illusion one and two, like,
and we still talk about this recordwith reverence like that's how good this
record is? Crazy? But I'msorry, go on. He said,
it bridges the gap between the oldguard of rock and roll and grunge,
which I can get with absolutely,And then he goes on to talk about
Dermot Kennedy. He said he wantedto love or hate this album. He

(06:40):
wanted to hate it because pet Son'slost, but he was left to night
on both accounts. He said, for me, the record does not stand
out from the crowd of music thatfollows in the same formula. Good vocals
over basic chords and the drum machinekicking in when the audience is supposed to
feel something. He said he couldsee how you could sing along to the
in the car to a few songsin that room is the strongest song,
but that it's very formulated, whichI you know, yeah, I don't

(07:03):
think that's necessarily a bad thing.Everything. I mean, of course,
everything with art is subjective, butnone of that is like and this is
the worst thing ever for a dudethat admittedly says he went into it wanting
to either have an extreme emotion.Yes, So he goes on to say
that the rest of them is veryone note and he thinks that, especially
on a debut album, you're gonnahave to show you musical range to the

(07:25):
audience. Is something to look forwardto. And then he's that's conversely,
something that's in favorite of Pearl Jambecause there's so many different sounds on that
one record that they went to expandon later. Yep. And then he
said, you may be surprised toread, but his vote is for ten.
I'm stunned he picked ten Jam tenNo idea, Go ahead, Kyle,
what else we got? Friend ofthe Show Joe friend of the show,
Joe, who are still waiting forto come on this goddamn show.

(07:47):
I know it's insane. Where youat, Joe? You know what?
Not so friend of the show Joe? Ex friend of the Show Joe.
Oh, we don't say ex friendof the show Joe. He said for
me, it's Pearl jam by aCountry Mile ten is flawless start to finish
and is one of, if notthe greatest debut record in the history of
rock music. The songs aren't justgreat, many of them are iconic.

(08:09):
The album is a cornerstone for ageneration and continues to age magnificently, and
I argue that Once is the perfectopening track as it sets up for the
rest of what the album has tooffer. It's so weird that Joe would
say that because our own resident expertsaid, I think you called hold on.
I never said I was an expert. You were an appointed expert.
Yes, for sure. Appointed. You can't help. It's like an honorary

(08:31):
degree. Sure. He also saidthat the album delivered on its promise ten
out of ten. Four ten nowor oh you know what. Acquaintance of
the show Joe demoted. Chris Asays he did listen to Dermott and it's

(08:52):
just not a stale not his jammiejam. He said he should feel like
he should abstain from voting because forme, it's not a coke to PEPSI,
it's more like a beer to water. I don't hate water, but
I enjoy it beer a whole lotmore. Yeah, it sounds like Chris's
voting without voting. He's voting, and there's you have at least one more,

(09:13):
right, right? I got twomore? Oh damn, Mike d
says Pearl jam ten. Bob Marleyonce said one good thing about music when
it hits you feel no pain.Ten does that and it hits you on
the opening track. Bob Marley wasalso using other things, using other things,
not because of music, but that'sa great I'm sorry, go on
if it gets your attention and keepsit. Dermot Kenny didn't do that.

(09:35):
I listened to it and kept hopingit would get better, and it didn't.
It's really not my jammy jam noboy, it's two that are not
doing so much money. They oweus for using that for the trademark.
Yeah well and yeah, well,we'll discuss that with everybody later. Will
you get the bills in the mail. Yeah. After that, I say,
dammy damn Kyle's dammy damn. JeffreyD which is Jeffrey Dobb, And

(10:03):
I assume Jeffrey d last comment orof the feedback and most recent paid supporter
of the show. Thanks Jeffrey Dyes, thank you, thank you, thank
you, thank you. He says, I had never heard of Dermike Kennedy.
However, I went to Amazon Musicand listened Shameless Plug. There it
was on music, and I listenedto the complete album. I will say
that I did enjoy it, andI wasn't expecting that. I'm usually not

(10:26):
a like it first time listener. This guy can write some lyrics. I'm
not sure who dumped him before hewrote this album. But she's not a
nice person I gather from the song. That's one of my favorite comments we
received this week. It says Ithink he might be clinically depressed over it.
The album itself is very monotone tome, the same cadence and the
same tone to his voice. Itisn't unpleasant. I did enjoy it,

(10:48):
but it's nothing I would be listeningto in five years or ten years that
sounds like a Michelle Rio. Yeah, but I will say that though,
and this is what I was talkingabout with with the staying power of ten,
like I truly don't like if wewent in five years in the future,
like as passionately as both of youare about that record, Like I
don't see both of you in fiveyears still being like yeah, but I
just that's fine. You actually doyou liked Ten? I think more than

(11:13):
you figured. You would know forsure, But like I would never got
passed once. I would just neveron my own put on Pearl jam If
it's on the radio, I leaveit. That's because you haven't listened to
Guild front to back yet. Yeah. He also did say that Dermot Kenny
is a tealented lyricist, and hewill give him that now. As for
Pearl Jam ten, there's an absolutemasterpiece of music. There isn't a bad

(11:35):
song anywhere on it. They soundlike not even once, not even once,
no singers. They sound like they'vebeen playing together for decades from once
to release. This album is oneof the best ever from any group.
I can listen to this over andover again. Vetter is the man.
My vote Pearl Jam ten. Wait, so how many people voted for Dermott
Key. There was hold on,let me let me tell you this up

(11:56):
real quick. There was you,and then there was oh you voted and
that last thing. There was actuallymore positive stuff about Dermot Kenny than there
was. Pearl Jam broken down onething. We already mentioned this, but
like just the fact that we havelisteners who will go and give something a
shot that they've never heard of,and almost nobody uses Amazon Music, and

(12:18):
Jeff's like, I'm going to gofind this how I have to? Yeah,
you know what I mean, liketo take an honest listen to it.
And even Joe Hart with everything thathe's got going on, was like,
I still tried to do this. But in his defense, like if
ten is in your top ten recordsof all time, like this one's not
going to come out. You don'tcome out and knock it out. Yeah,
well, one time I had afriend picked this record over pet Sounds,

(12:39):
which like nobody would so you neverknow, I guess so, uh
so Pearl Jam ten moving on tothe tournament, and we are we're getting
down to the nitty gritty now.Yeah, things are about to get real,
real, real tough. Speaking ofthings getting real, tough, Holy
cow. This week's matchup is somethingelse we have. We have one record

(13:01):
that I think head it easy, and you even said it in the episode
where one where you were like, well, if I would have known this
record was going to go up againstthat one, Like you know, we
have Michael Jackson's Thriller knocked out SilverSun Pickups Carnivas, and like you said,
even that, like damn it,you know, I wish this said
and gone up against Thriller. ButPurple Rain has already accomplished a massive feet
in the tournament and took out Fleetwoodmac Rumors, which is crazy. And

(13:26):
that was one of the first episodeswhere we had to put it to a
vote to the crowd because Michelle, you were supposed to pick one, but
you couldn't even make up your mind. So what we have coming up this
week is a record that is universallyloved in Thriller and a record that already
accomplished a massive feet in the tournamentare both meeting head Head, which is
a little bit insane. A littlebit insane things are things are getting crazy,

(13:50):
So we are going to do whatwe always do. Now. Side
note, I say this, Isaid this last week, and I can't
stress enough. We love the feedback. We love the feedback. I love
to read it. I love toread it, and especially I think this
week, I think there's going tobe people that are going to start writing
their comments having made up their mindand then talk themselves in and out of

(14:11):
their decision like four times over thecourse of their Let us see your thought
process. Yeah, yeah, I'mall about seeing that. So I feel
like next week is gonna be likea forty five minute episode of just a
feedback, you know, just readingthe feedback, and I'm going formism.
Give us a minute, We're goingto take a break, and then we
will come back in just a coupleof minutes and give you our votes and
a little chit and a little chatabout how we feel about those two records.

(14:33):
We'll be back with you in justa minute. Once upon a time,
boring, It was the best oftimes. It was the worst.

it was a pretty decisive situation wherePearl jam Ten is moving on in the
tournament, and this week is anythingbut decisive for most folks. I like,

(16:26):
I literally three or four weeks ago, when I knew the matchup was
going to happen, I started thinkingabout it then, So, oh,
I very much have made up mymind. So yeah, you would think
me of all people, where Iknow everybody on the show can't see us,
but I literally on my left flagI have a Michael Jackson tattoo on
the left side and prints on theother. So I'm quite divided about this

(16:48):
whole situation. But I will saythis before we get into the hole what
we decided and discussing it, Iwill tell you that neither of these records
are even my favorites by these artists. Thriller is my fourth favorite Michael Jackson
record, and I couldn't even tellyou Purple Rains at least second or third
for me with I don't know thatI have a favorite from either of these
two artists overall, Oh, yousound like a man who hasn't listening to
Invincible or History enough. Actually,I grew up listening to History because that's

(17:11):
one of the ones my the DoubleDisk is one of the ones my mom's
that is great. I don't evenlike I mean, history continues, you
know, you can't kind of greatesthits as Yeah, you know what I
mean. Yeah, but I yeah, I like Thriller, but it's my
fourth favorite record by him. Soanyways, enough of that, let's move
on to our actual discussion. So, Kyle, which one? If you

(17:32):
got Purple Rain and Thriller both layingon the coffee table, which one you
picking up? Damn it man,Yeah, damn it man. All right,
I had to do some real andwell we'll talk a little bit about
its separation of sentiment versus what isbetter than the other, and I think
that's where we're going with the tournament. Yeah, we'll talk about that a
little bit more with some of thematchups coming. But but go on.

(17:53):
Ultimately chose Purple Rain. Boom.I'm sorry. I thought you were working
a reply to that or have somesort of emotion about it. So that's
why that's why I took a drink, because I thought you were going to
have a coming into a spitting yeah, just all over everything. So yeah,
Purple Rain for Kyle, Michelle, what do you got thriller or purple
Rain. I feel like I knowwhat your answer is and why, but

(18:15):
go on, No, no,I'm thinking of what you get my answer?
I know, because you want tothrow it the other way. Yeah,
because you can't tell them to doa purple Rain. Oh wow.
That first of all I thought.I thought, I'm sure you're going to
say thriller, and I thought itwas going to be based on pyt Along.
No, but I will say this, so after we let it go
to a vote for Purple Rain andFleetwood Mac, every time someone voted for

(18:38):
Purple Rain, and my heart brokea little, which means that I really
wanted Fleetwood Mac twin. But likeI didn't really realize it until people were
saying that they like I rarely sports, but this is like when the New
Jersey Devils beat the Red Wings inthe playoffs and so we all have to
root for them to the end becausethey're I went back to six. That's
terrible. Yeah, So I feellike is my horse now? Yeah?

(19:00):
Yeah? Well so I also chosepurple ring. Oh boy, And here's
here's why. Now, let's lookat this. I guess as much of
it for lack of a better termscientific way. There are stinkers on thriller
and I again, I cried forweeks when Michael Jackson passed. I have
a gigantic poster of him behind me. I have the beat it jacket.
I've got the club. Nobody calledinto question me being a Michael Jackson fan

(19:22):
because I'm picking thriller over or I'msorry, purple ring over Thriller. The
situation is this baby be mine.I could take her leave the lady in
my life, I could take herleave. The most controversial track for me,
The most controversial track for me isPYT. I could take or leave
that track. And like, Iknow, I know everyone on Earth loves
that, but me, like, don't get me wrong, if you put
on PYT, I'm not gonna belike, when's this garbage gonna be over?
But like I would never if Iwas going to make you a playlist

(19:45):
of one hundred Michael Jackson songs, that would be number one hundred and it's
just really it's just yet the othertwo and you said that would be I
wouldn't include them on the phone. They wouldn't make, they wouldn't make at
all, and they does purple rain. I'm gonna do this off the top
of my head. So forgive meif I forget something. Let's go crazy.
Not a stinker, man, takeme with you, Not a stinker.

(20:07):
The beautiful ones, Computer Blue,Oh, Computer Blue. I think
I think you don't get computer becauseyou don't get it. I think it
is because you don't get it.That song, so it's almost a progressive
rock song writing in the middle ofthis album. But so Darling Nikki when
doves cry, I would die foryou, baby, I'm a Star.

(20:30):
Purple Rain. The other day,I was sitting in line waiting for ice
cream in the drive through and wait, do you want to say this for
after the show or does this haveanything to do with was just like,
hey, you guys, guess what. I see the buttons red. But
I need to tell you this icecream story real quick. So I was
sitting in line my car and PurpleRain came on the radio and the song

(20:53):
and I like, so, it'slike ninety degrees outside, and I literally
rolled down my windows and blasted itto like I wanted to treat everybody outside
to that song. And then Iput on the album after that. Purple
the title cut is one of thosesongs that like we've talked about this before
with like Pink Floyd, Like Idon't like that another Brick in the Wall
is what they're known for, youknow it because on the Wall alone,

(21:15):
there's like so much better than thatsong. If Prince was only known for
the title song from Purple Rain,Okay, I album my name on that,
you know what I mean? Imean, it's it's like a ballad
and a blues jam, and thelyrics are deep enough to where it could
mean anything to anyone. Yeah, you know, and I also know people
that are like, fuck, doesPurple Rain mean? You know what I
mean? Like you can you canmake up your own meaning to it.

(21:37):
It very much has. I mean, I think I've explained it to you
before. I haven't I ended upmeaning behind We talked about it this week.
Yeah, like the actual what Prince'smeaning was behind that phrase Purple Rain,
and it's just everything about it isjust perfect. Like if that's all
he was ever known for, Iwould be like, Okay, that's fine.
I'm now, anybody comes over thehouse. I'm gonna play like thirty

(21:59):
seven other Prince records for you.But you know, and again, what
I touched on Earlier is like withMichael Bad, there's not a bad song
on bat, Like the whole recordis flawless front to back. He did
it again with Dangerous. There's likethere's like maybe a stinker and Dangerous.
I feel like people are like,no, there's not, but I think
there's at least one. And thenHistory is freaking flawless for like a bunch
of different reasons. And I would, damn I've been on such an invincible

(22:22):
kick lately that thriller might be windlingits way down to number five. Oh
boy. Yeah. But with PurpleRain, Prince had so many different genres
that it's almost hard for me torank his music. Like Michael is very
in the lane, you know, and it's easy for me to go these
are all R and B records, and I'm gonna it's almost hard for me
to judge Purple Rain against a psychedelicrock record like Around the World in a

(22:44):
Day, or an album with everygenre ever, like a Sign of the
Times or the Symbol record, doyou know what I mean? Like,
it's almost hard for me to evencompare them. I also think that part
of me is like music, snapabout it, Like I don't want Purple
Rain to be my favorite, justbecause you're not supposed to have Purple Rain
your favorite. Yeah. I definitelydidn't like Purple Rain before it was cool.
I like Purple Rain about year anda halfter it was cool. But

(23:07):
the thing with the difference between meand like when everybody else was jumped on
Purple Rain as soon as it cameout. I got into Purple Rain right
before Around the World and a Daycame out, like right before that,
and then I got it. Igot Purple Rain, and I was like,
this is amazing. And then Aroundthe World and a Day came out,
and like me and for other peopleran to buy it because it's so
different than Purple Rain. And Ilove that record so much that it kicked

(23:30):
off like the rest of my Princefandom. So I didn't even really soak
in and appreciate Purple Rain for whatit is until ninety two three four,
Like I really didn't even go backbecause at the time Prince was like every
two minutes, you'd be like that, didn't the Prince album just come out?
Why is there a new Prince album? You know? Yeah, And
even like I talked about The Traina lot that he went on that ridiculous

(23:52):
train and he went out. Butit's like within a year he put out
like a Purple Rain around the worldof a Day Parade, Love Sexy,
Sign of Times, and I feellike I'm forgetting one. But like all
those records came out like one yearapart, and SI of the Times,
they all came out in the sameyear. I was like, what he
recorded a whole bunch of a lotof it in the same year, but
they were all released like one yearapart. Who can understand who amongst this
understands why Warner had a problem withPrince turning into many records, you know.

(24:15):
Warner was like, you know,we have to like promote this for
a minute, you know. Butbut like I literally would turn around it,
Like when Sig of the Times cameout, I was like, how
is that another Prince out? Goddamn it, this is a double Like
it was just amazing to me thatthey did. Now all none of that
discounts Thriller, And I think anybodywho picks Thriller over Purple Rain, in

(24:37):
my opinion, is you're judging itmore on the cultural phenomenon than it was.
You know, Like, also thehits that are on there are just
so it kind of makes makes upfor the stinkers. But yeah, I
just like the princes out in frontto back. Besides, well, like
like mineting a hit today, Ithink today's to day. I don't know

(25:00):
if you guys are going to behere on Friday night or tonight, I
should say, since the episode's comingon on Friday. But if y'all come
over on Friday, I'm gonna playComputer Blue until you get it, and
I will. I think I saidthis during the episode, and you might
not know this, but Computer Blueis actually two songs. He wanted it
was two separate songs, and hedidn't there wasn't space to include bull songs.

(25:22):
Where he put them together into one, so how does that make more
space? He chopped out parts ofeach song and where it shifts in the
middle, where switches to the doodoo doo doo doo, where the basseline
comes in, he like cut theintro off of that song and cut the
outro out of the other and madea perfect fantast. Oh you guys,
she's shaking her head. Yes,she gets it now. I just did
it. She gets it now,sou so believe it or not, and

(25:51):
I get another chance to use adrop. All of us agree that Purple
Rain is right like cool, yep, there is true. Nothing is taking
away from from Thriller. Thriller isa masterpiece in its own right. And
yes, I can say that abouta record with stinkers. I think that
you can be a masterpiece. Still, I had to emotionally detach myself from
that record because I grew up listeningto a lot of Michael Jackson, specifically

(26:14):
that record, and not a lotof print stuff. But the stinkers on
Thriller get in the way of thenon stinkers. Oh, I agree,
and there's nothing stinky about No Pop. I mean like, I literally I
can see from here. I can'tsee the other thing from here, but
literally, I have an exact replicaof the Beater jacket around the corner.

(26:37):
I have an exact replica of theBilly Jean glove. That's how much I
love Moonwalker video game. Yeah yeah, yeah, I can see from here
that I have a roll sized Moonwalkerarcade game. Like, my loyalty to
Michael Jackson cannot be called into questionover this, but I just between the
two records and me personally I almostlook at this as what you talked about
how monsters some of the songs are. For me, I would put up

(27:00):
Beat It, Billy Jean, andHuman Nature like that run. Those three
songs are what I would make mydiscussion against Purple Rain with. Do you
know what I'm saying? I can? I could see that Yeah, like
before you even worry about the titlecut or want to be starting something like
really, to me, the nittygritty boils down to those those three tracks
are the ones that are could eventhose three tracks alone could go up against
Purple Rain. Yes, Like Itold you, I grew up with a

(27:22):
thriller video like scaring the absolute shitout of me, like forever and ever
and ever and ever, and Ijust I don't know, I just uh,
I listened to that record a lotwhen I was younger, and utah,
well, I mean everybody, Istarted listening to Prince later in life
and then came to the realization thatand the other thing and we can't just
doesn't count the tournament. But whenyou listen to like the twelve injurymixes from

(27:44):
Purple Rain and find out that thedude had like more genius than he had
to whittle down, you know, like there's a twelve remix of Let's Go
Crazy, And every time I playedfor somebody, I'm like, this is
the definitive version of the song. It's like three minutes longer than the one
that's on the record, and it'sand it's a ship ton better than the
one that's on the record. Idon't want no, you should. You
haven't heard this. You need tohear it. It's fantastic. I think
you play it for me, didn'tyou? Oh yeah, no, absolutely,

(28:07):
I played it for you. Yeah, and I'm pretty sure the volume
level started like five and it wason like seventeen by the other song.
Ye. Anyways, that is wherewe stand. I'm quite surprised that all
three of us picked the one record. Yeah, and that's the way it's
gonna fall for us. And thatdoesn't mean that that's the winner. We
very well could have the vote gothe other way. You know, you
never know, that's true. Itmight be a super big baby be mind

(28:27):
fan out there who who thinks we'reall crazy. If it is the winner,
will be the first time that Ivoted for the winner. Well,
that'll be in a new accomplishment, achievement unlocked nice. So, as I
mentioned earlier, this episode will beout on Friday morning, and I'll do

(28:48):
the usual social media post. Hey, here's a clip from the episode,
and when you get a chance, let us know. I think the big
thing about this, though, iswe don't have people like there's not gonna
be anybody who has to go lookup one record or the other. I
feel like I'm assuming must have heardboth. Yeah, I feel like they
need to give it a good listenthough, No, go for a refresher
for sure, back to that wellbecause and I feel like I'm like trying
to poison the well here. ButI think if people give Thriller an honest

(29:11):
listen again, I think they willbe like, I don't remember that song
not being so good? You know, are like, you know, people
out the stingers and just remember thereally good ones. Oh and you know
yeah, and you know one morething, Burble Rain. I think it's
timeless as far as the even eventhere's like eighties sounds on there, like
the Minneapolis drum Machine sound that's allthrough that record, It's still timeless.
As soon as you hit baby BeMine, you are in nineteen eighty two,

(29:33):
yeah, you know, and That'sone of my big problems with py
T is the like the robotic voiceand that stuff. I'm like, get
out of here. That's what Isay. That's why I say get out
of voice. So anyways, thisepisode will be up on Friday morning.
We'll put the usual clip up.It'll probably be at a total guess.
It'll be Michelle saying something ridiculous willbe included in the clip, and then
we will say, hey, whenyou get a chance to listen to these

(29:56):
two records, give us your feedback. You don't have to leave a ton
of reasons why. You can justI say, one album or the other.
We definitely want to hear if youdo have a ton of reasons why.
As you heard we there was alot of anguish and despair just now
with the two or the three ofus trying to well not use so much.
You were just like, Nope,Purple Rain, that's it. No,
I do like like you said, there's just there's stinkers on Thriller,
and like the hits do make itlike a great album, right, but

(30:19):
it's just when you put it nextto a proper Rain that has like a
little bit of a stinker, noteven close so anyways, so the winner
of this round will return, andwe're getting down to it now. We
only have I think three episodes leftof the tournament, which is crazy.
Now next week's matchup is going tobe another one that's insane, but for

(30:41):
different reasons. Carol King Tapestry versusLads Up on four. Now both of
these records, not from you,Michelle, but from the listeners both of
these records, one on Sentimental, both of them, Well, all of
the feedback we got on both ofthese records was like I used to get,
you know, high and listen toled Zeppe. I used to drink
and listen to Carol King, youknow that. Like we got this comment

(31:03):
about both records. That record gotme through. Yeah. Yeah, So
I feel like that's going to beanother one where people are going to be
like, yeah, it's gonna befine. And then and then after that
one either led Zeppelin four or Tapestryis going to go up against either Thriller
or Purple Rain. Like things aregetting real over here. Should be a

(31:25):
whole lot of fun. What youknow, Pearl Jam Tennis to go up
against something, Oh yeah, justkidding. I was like, yeah,
it's Pearl jam ten against what winstoday. I'll let it all that out.
I see how it is now youdo the editing, so you out
yours. I want so badly tolike come up with a drop to put
enough her being like you're right,Russ. Anyways, Hey, you guys

(31:49):
are hearing this on Friday. Andif you're hearing this and we sound a
little bit overjoyed and a little bitmore giddy than usual, just wait till
you hear what we have coming foryou on Monday. Holy cow, we
are we are, We are giddy, and we are excited, and we
thank everybody for listening. We thankeverybody for your support. Like I said,

going to cause you with the tournamentgoing for so we greatly appreciate everything about
