(00:03):
Oh holy cow, it's an episodeseven of the Bonus Tournament, which I
want to say, is uh goingalong pretty good? And then last week,
well, last week caused the mostcontroversy I've ever heard. I think
it's been great. He's going toown that. So the internet disagrees.
(00:23):
So uh, here we are inepisode seven. We are actually coming to
the end of the first round, which is been a war. I'm gonna
call it between between you and everyone. Yeah, you have you have said
so many things that have caused literallyboth Like you've said things about records that
(00:45):
Kyle brought to this tournament that Kylewas like what. And you've said more
than a few things about records thatI've brought to the tournament that the entirety
of the Internet was like what.So okay, okay. So, for
those of you who may have somesort of stress from last week and forgotten,
or for those of you who haven'tlistened last week, last week was
(01:06):
Dermott Kennedy's without Fear record against theBeach Boys pet Sounds. Clearly there was
a winner, Clem Well Michelle gavepet Sounds a seven out of ten,
which is obvious that that's exactly whatthat record deserves, so we will circle
back to that later in the tournament. And I had been teasing for weeks
(01:27):
before that that this week that we'rein, right here, right now,
episode seven was going to be theone that I did not envy you in
any way, shape or form about, because we have two gigantic monster records.
I mean, I don't like fourreel. These are monster monster records
going up against each other. Sowe have from nineteen seventy seven Fleetwood back
(01:49):
Rumors versus from nineteen eighty four Princeand the Revolution, Purple Rain. I
guess the first question before we gointo anything else, And normally we wait
for your notes till later, butI have the world has to know right
now. Are there any stinkers oneither of these records? There are zero
stinkers. There are zero stinkers. We are toying with the idea at least
(02:10):
records that are seven, because that'sthe line, right, If it's seven
and above is no stinkers? Correct? Holy cow? All right, let's
get ready. So they're at leastseven. I'm not going to spoil anything,
but they're at least seven. Imean, wow, I don't even
know what to do with myself.Let's get ready to this, Kyle,
I'll talk to us a little bitabout about Fleetwood Mac Rumors. Oh man.
You know, off air, Isaid that I didn't have a lot
(02:31):
to say about that because because it'sall hearsaying, do you get it?
Rumors? Um. Not only doI not have a lot to say about
it, for one, because itspeaks for itself. And for two,
I know you have a lot tosay about it. I do, I
do believe it or not. Thefirst three records on or I'm sorry,
(02:53):
the first three songs on the recordare the ones that I have the least
about of notes about and because they'reall jams. Secondhand news. That's that's
how you that's how you start recordsecondhand news, you know, And I
think it's a lot of people don'tput together the secondhand news goost right in
with the title of the record, like Rumors Dreams, I think is one
(03:14):
of the best track twos in thehistory of the game. Like it just
comes out of all that energy ofsecondhand news and it's like boom boom,
like here, you know, we'rejust gonna take this down real quick.
I think never going back again isin my opinion one of the most underrated
Fleetwood Mac songs. It's my favorite. People just don't nobody ever named checks
that song. Yeah. When youif you go up to somebody right now
(03:37):
and go, what's your favorite FleetwoodMax song? You ask one hundred people,
one hundred of them are not goingto say never going back again,
which is a shape. Yeah.Once upon a time, Michelle was like,
this is my favorite song by them, and I was like, I'd
always just like not even paying attentionto it. Yeah, And I started
re listening to it a bunch oftimes and I was like, oh,
man, this is yeah, Ireally liked this song. Lindsey's the Man.
Yeah, No, Lindsay is theMan. Now. Here's where we
(03:58):
run into issues. For me.Songbird is just there now. And I
want to be clear because most peoplelistening to this are probably gonna be like,
oh, there's a Stevie fan.I love Christine McBee. I love
Christine mcviee. I totally get whythe people hate her, because there is
a strong I hate Christine McBee segmentout there. Um. People think her
nose is, her voice is nasily, and a lot of people gloves are
(04:25):
coming off early there's that, andthen there's also the thing where I think
she suffers from you're not Stevie's disease. You know, like a lot of
people are just like so drawn toStevie that they just don't I know,
I know you're talking to a Christinemcviey fan. But the song. My
point is, Songbird is just therefor me. It's not bad and it's
(04:45):
not good. It's just there forme. However, no matter how good
or bad Songbird is, um therecord takes a giant upswing with the huge
one two punch of the chain andyou make love and fun. And then
for me that like again, Iknow, people who we won't even give
you make love and fund of thetime of the time of the day.
Because Christine's singing it, and Ilove that song. I love her voice
(05:06):
on it. You know, that'sreally I think that's a gigantic one two
punch right in the middle of therecord. For me, the biggest problems
of the record come after that.I don't want to know, and oh
daddy, I don't want to know. It's the rest of the record is
so strong that I don't want toknow. Just sounds phoned in to me,
it's just it's all it's I don'twant to call it filler, but
(05:28):
when you put it up against everythingelse on the record, it is filler.
It would be a great hit forsomeone else, but it's not as
anywhere near as good as the restof the songs on Rumors. Does that
make sense? And then Oh Daddyagain, I don't hate Christine. I
just the song is just there. And I think one thing that I don't
like about Oh Daddy is that Steviejust comes right over the top of that
(05:50):
song afterwards with gold Dust Woman toround the record out. Gold Dust Woman
is such a jam. It issuch a jam, and it's a fantastic
closer. And I think that likeevery time I've ever listened to Rumors front
to back, when I don't wantto know when O Daddy starts, I'm
literally being like, how long tillguld tests Woman? You know what I'm
(06:14):
saying. So do you agree?Disagree? Oh? Yeah, I agree
with a lot of what you said. Literally, if you in my own
personal opinion, I do not carewho is singing what, because that entire
it's a masterpiece. It's a rockmasterpiece, not rock, but light rock.
(06:34):
I don't know whatever you want tocategorize it as no, And I
when I say, the only reasonI even brought up who's singing what?
Yeah, well a lot of peopledo care about that. Yeah well no,
no, because people will there arepeople listening who will be like,
oh well, of course you don'tlike that, because Christine singing like You
Make Love and Fund is one ofmy favorite Fliwood Max songs. I told
you guys right before we went onair. As Long as You Follow is
one of my favorite Fliywood Max songs. Everywhere is one of my favorite Fliwood
(06:58):
Max songs. All Christine songs offof other records, well except for You
You Make Loving Fun is on here. But that's the only reason why I
brought up poos singing what, becauseI don't want anybody to be like,
oh well, you just don't likechrist And if you can dig into the
backstory and the drama and all thekinds of crazy stuff that was going on,
then then it makes the record evenbetter, right because they're all singing
about each other essentially, and uhyeah, I mean at each other about
(07:23):
each other. Yeah, boy,I sure wish you hadn't gone to bed
with the bass player. Yeah.Literally, if you see if you like
classic rock or what people are gonnaget all pissed off because I'm classifying it
as a bunch of different stuff. But whatever you want to classify it as.
If you like the type of musicthat it is, if you like
drama, cocaine but cocaine but cocaine, and delicious music, then this is
(07:46):
the record for you. Yeah, delicious music. I think the record before
it is crazy underrated, like thefirst one with Lindsay and Stevie, Like
no one ever pays much attention tothat, and that's a great record.
I mean it's oh, it's right, yeah yeah, but I you know,
I think Lindsay and Stevie brought somethingto the band that was born on
(08:09):
the self titled record before and thentotally brought to fruition. That's one thing
that I like about secondhand News asan opener is that it's almost like because
they was straight up outrage among Fleetwoodmacfans that were like, this is not
my Fletwood Mac, you know, due to the Peter Green Welch era before
that, and secondhand News is almostlike, well, if you didn't like
that, sure, shit not gonnalike this, you know, Yeah,
(08:30):
it just it just mount and andit's very parallel to Journey's career too,
Like when Steve Perry came in,a lot of Journey fan Greg Rowley fans
and prior to Steve Perry were supermad when you know, they feeling that
way in those songs and Steve Perrywas on and then they just fight.
Journey just fired back and was like, well, if you didn't like that,
yeah, we're going to be offin arenas and all over the radio.
(08:52):
You guys, enjoy yourself with yourself righteousness. Yeah. I also
feel that if I'm gonna go onsome streaming service or listen to food mec,
it ends up being rumors nine timesout of ten. And I think
a lot of people are probably likethat because there's so many Yeah, they're
gonna go right to so many greatsongs on that record, and it's just,
uh, it's a it's a goddamnjam. I have a whole sidebar
(09:13):
in my mind all the time. But I personally think Tangle in the Night
is actually a better record than Butthat's a whole different discussion for another time.
So moving over to Minneapolis and uh, the nineteen eighty four masterpiece of
Purple Rain. I swear I'm gonnatry and keep this short, but I
have no every single song on therecord. Oh you gotta go, do
(09:35):
you? You gotta hurry up andget listening to pet sounds or something that's
a slid or maybe maybe just skiponce and start on Pearl Jam ten from
from even Flow on bringing up someof the past controversy. So for me,
I think Let's Go Crazy it isone of the most underrated track ones
in the history of the game.No one ever talks about what a monster
first track that is. People talkabout Let's Go Crazy, and everybody knows
(09:58):
the song, but no one talksabout it's just a monster, like it
sets up everything about the record thatyou're about to hear. It's just like,
hey, I'm going to just createmy own genre and my own sound
all at once on this this trackand everything else you're going to hear.
So I think it's just a masterdisplay of talent. And take Me with
(10:22):
You goes in completely the opposite directionof Let's Go Crazy. When I was
a kid, I used to think, and when I say what I was
a kid, I mean like tenor twelve, I used to think of
it as like a motown groove, and then as I grew older, I
was like, no, it's noteven a motown groove. It's its own
thing. If you put a guninto my head and said what type of
music is take me with you you, I would just be on the floor,
(10:43):
like I would be done, becauseit's it's it's its own thing,
like it's it's completely he doesn't evenfit into a genre at all himself for
anything. Yeah, well that's yeah, you know for sure, Master reinvention
R. And it's all yeah, the Beautiful Ones. My notes started with
I mean damn and then and thenit took me like five minutes to keep
(11:07):
at the beginning. There was liketwelve periods after that. My thing with
the Beautiful Ones is it doesn't matterif you know the story or the exact
lyrics of that. You can listento The Beautiful Ones just with it on
in the background and in mid conversationstop and go, who hurt you?
You know what I mean? Now, that's a ballad, you know,
(11:28):
Computer Blue. I literally have thiswritten down. It's a two fur it's
a dance song in the first halfand it's a rock song in the second
half, and I knew that wasyou're giving me the look. I knew
for upfront that Computer Blue was goingto be the song that you didn't like
because you don't like you don't likeprogression. No, there's no stinkers.
Okay, there's it's not exactly astinker um. But for me, computer
(11:50):
computer Blue does its thing. Itbrings you out of the depression that was
the end of the Beautiful Ones upto a dance beat, and then it
just plane turns over to a masterfulrock track. Like there are rock bands
in the eighties that would have lovedfor their entire career to be known for
the second half of Computer Blue,Like that's how good that song is.
(12:13):
And truth be told, it istwo different songs that he put down into
one for the record because of timelimits. So he was just like,
well, it was the way thisis gonna work. You know I can
get away with it. I'm Prince. Yeah, Darling Nikki, I think
is the pinnacle of everything Prince wasgoing Yeah, I think, Darling Nikki
is It's it's the pinnacle of everythingPrince was going for from for you up
(12:37):
till nineteen ninety nine. If alienscame down and said, what does Prince
sound like? I would put onDarling Nikki, Like that's the song that
he was trying to make for thefive or six Nuts before a couple bunch
of times with us because of allthe controversial yeah, I mean sparked a
nationwide outcry. Did we talk aboutthe little Nike thing? No? Oh,
(12:58):
So, just as a sidebar,we saw Jason Tenner, who is
a prince. Uh what's the wordtribute artists? Yeah, they prefer tribute
Okay, okay, I'm sorry Jasonoffensive. He wouldn't be the first time
she sent up offensive on. JasonTenor is a tribute artist in Vegas,
and we went and saw him andhe there was some drunk guye behind us
(13:20):
the entire time, shutting a littleNikki like literally right behind us. And
finally he was like, there isno Prince song called Little Nikki. That's
a movie with Adam Sam and Jasont stays pretty in character the whole But
this guy was no, no,no, no, no, I'm saying
we've seen oh, you've seen PurpleRain. I've seen it three times.
(13:41):
Yeah, I've seen what I've sangwith him? No, boy, I
say I can never take the placewith him. We've seen them probably ten
times, and he stays, youknow, he's not he doesn't think he's
prince. But like with these Michaelimpersonators or tribute artists or Elvis, it
helps if they stay in character. And that was the one time where I
saw him was like, dude, shut up. That's not even the name
(14:01):
of the song. And what's funnyis I've seen him do that song and
they didn't do it that night, which I wouldn't have done anything. So
anyways, flipping over to side twoor the rest of the album, depending
on how you listen to it,um, When Doves Cry is one of
the best and most sexy dance songsof all time. And it's a rock
song. It's not even a dancesong. It's a freaking rock song.
(14:22):
And I don't know if either ofyou know this about this song. Do
you know what? The do youknow what? When Doves Crst missings crying
bass. There's no bassline in thesong When Doves Crst. He's not all
about that bass, not in thatsong, but the lyrics and the melody
are astounding, the way they intertwinedto Cold. Maybe I'm jet, like
(14:43):
the way they weaves underneath. Imean, come on, and it's it's
one of the world's best dance songsand it's a rock song without a bassline.
Come on, baby, I'm astar. I literally the top of
my notes as well. Hot damn, I mean, my thing is this
in this I'm literally I'm gonna readmy actual notes off of here. Well,
hot damn. It's another rock andsong. I dare anyone to sit
(15:05):
down on this cut and not instantlybe motivated by the drums, lyrics based
and energy that song. The lyrics, if you listen to the lyrics,
you will be like I can doanything, Like it's such a motivational song,
like I'm a big deal, youknow, And like I say,
the bass of the drums, synth, everything about it is wonderful Purple rain.
What is there to say? It'san amazing way to end the record.
(15:28):
You don't even have to know thestory of the album or the lyrics
of the song. It's much likethe Beautiful Ones, where when you hear
it, you're just like, whathappened? You know? Now, if
you know the meaning behind the song, then it does take on a new
meaning because it is a very positivemessage about hope and whatnot. But if
(15:50):
you don't know that, that's okaytoo, Like it's gonna affect you either
way. So for me, andI told Bothie this, and I'll say
this to all the listeners too. When when we did when we started this
tournament, Kyle and I picked botheight records a piece. And when Kyle
gave me his list, he hadRumors on it, and I originally had
Rumors on my list. I don'teven remember where it was placed, but
(16:11):
I had it on there and Itook it off. So I genuinely love
both of these records. But I'mgoing to tell you here now why I
truly think that Purple Rain is aslightly better record than Rumors. Okay,
ready, Purple Rain works three differentways as an album. Every single song
on this record works on its own. You could put any song on this
(16:32):
album on in any environment and eitherget the party going, or make your
friend feel better with a ballot,or motivate someone or whatever. Every single
song works individually. Secondly, everysong works as a whole. If you
put it on, Let's Go Crazyruns right into take Me with You.
Take Me with You runs right intothe beautiful ones like and I actually didn't
(16:53):
you know, it's funny, Itotally skipped over I would die for you.
That's how god damn good this recordis. It's like, I didn't
even you know when Doves Cry?When that ends, boom boom, you
hear I would die for you inyour head. But you could just put
when Doves Cry on by itself orI would Die for You on itself.
And then third and this is somethingthat rumors can't help, but it also
(17:15):
works as the complete total one ofthe best soundtracks of all time, Like
it tells you the story of themovie as it's happening, and you don't
even have to have seen the movie. You can listen to the record and
just go, well, this isa whole story, right, Yeah,
yeah, I know someone's offer forRain, and it's whomever produced eight MIO.
(17:37):
So that, for me is thebiggest reason why the one edges out
the other is because it works onthree different levels. Not it's not just
one extra level above rumors, it'sit works in a third, you know.
And I maintain you can listen torumors straight through all you want to,
(17:57):
and I'm here to back you onthat. But ever in your life
are you going to There's certain songsthat never in your life are you going
to put on one off on Rumors? And everyone you know one of these
songs from Purple Rain is their alltime favorite print song that might not be
your favorite or mine or whatever.Like I Darling Nikki is not even close
(18:17):
to my favorite. Yeah, Ihad to correct myself. Darling Nikki is
not even close to my favorite printsong. But I know like fifty people
who that is. Nobody's favorite songis Computer Blue Lies? Lady? Are
you looking for internet hate? Becauseholy cow man, yeah, a lot
of people. That actually might bemy favorite song on the record. Yeah,
(18:45):
am I in it? Um?So having said that, Kyle before
we go over to No Stingers,McGee over here and she tells us her
thoughts, what what what do yougot on purporing? Um, I disagree
with the thing that you said.Mostly do you see what I'm saying about
the balance between the two. Literally, if I like much like Rumors,
(19:07):
if I'm going to listen to aPrince track like nine Hams out of Ten,
it's gonna be off of purporting andit's a two fur because there's a
damn movie that goes along with it. Um though, I wish there was
a movie that go wrong with rumorsbecause you could see all kinds of like
weird weird sex, and depending onwho owns the rights, when we might
get a very sanitize like Bohemian Rhapsody, Like nothing going on. They were
(19:32):
just sitting around watching sens me straight, you know. So yeah, there
there's you get the movie, yougo along with it, you get that
sexy motorcycle. There's so many things. So I want to be clear when
I mentioned that about the movie thatI'm not lumping the movie and with the
record though ye Like, it's amazingto me that you can listen to When
Doves Cry on its own and haveno you could have no idea that the
(19:53):
movie has never seen the movie.Well, yeah, it's it's eight Mile,
So if you've seen a Mile, you've seen it. I'm not being
funny. It's the same movie. But you could listen to the record and
have no idea and you still getlike there's some stuff going on between this
couple, you know, and thenwhen you watch the movie you're like,
oh, yeah there. It isvery rarely do you have a soundtrack to
a movie that is as huge asthat album is that that is like in
(20:17):
the era that movie could not evenexist and it would be a smash record.
And then turns out you can makeout a soundtrack to a movie,
but it's it's a huge. Youcan turn around and make a movie from
nineteen ninety nine. No, please, anyone from record labels that here's that.
Please don't do that. If thePrince was with us, he could
(20:38):
yeah, you know, he couldturn around and do that, And that's
why he wrote in a theater ofthe mind type away. You know.
So I'm almost scared to turn thesober team both here, give us,
give us your your thoughts on bothMichelle, These both, these records front
to back read like the greatest hitsto me, Like there's I know every
song on the record. Many timesdo you listen to them? For this?
(21:02):
At least five a piece at leastbecause I kept waiting for something to
be like this is why this onebetter? You're looking for, stinkers is
what you're looking for? How manytimes did you come down to the base
when I was working in one ofthose records, was on yeah for the
last week, Yeah, like overand over and over again. Right,
And so to be clear, you'rewhat you're describing right now is what I
did for the last six weeks. You just did it this week. Like
(21:26):
every week, I've been like, all right, I really mold both of
these records over and you're like, you're like, hey, everybody, I
just want to start by saying thisweek I tried. Well, sometimes there's
a clear winner. My only thingis and I agree with you a lot
about rumors, Let's start there. That songbird is just there for me.
It's not it's not a stinker atall. I like it, but it's
(21:48):
not one I won't just put onon my own. Oh Daddy is probably
my least favorite, but I don'tdislike it so like. It's just the
only reason why I have a pointagainst so Daddy is because it's stopping me
from hearing old ust woman. That'sa big deal fight, you know,
Like I literally am like mix startshitting at cowbell. This record is gonna
go to eleven real quick. Youknow, I'm like waiting for that.
(22:11):
You know. Anyways, go onthe entire record front back. It flows
very well for my record, Um, it flows really well. I like
the it starts out amazing with secondhand News, and that's a great first
song. I don't even mind.I don't even mind that. Like no,
(22:33):
if that was if that was anybodyelse, I would be like,
write some lyrics, dude, youknow a little. As soon as you
say second hand News, I'm like, Papa, Papa. My favorite part
is a very outra where the wholerecord is amazing and I feel like I
have a very um sentimental attachment toit. It is what my mom played
all the time when I was akid in the Quirins world. It came
(22:56):
in the mail with copies of orwith samples of Tides, and I can
I can in my mind imagine herputting this on and cleaning the house like
she was just like she's like,I'm going to clean house, I'm gonna
go to town, and this isthe record I put on it. Of
course, she would sit down duringSongbird and No Daddy, because yeah,
she's like, it's it's sounds totake a break. She sit down,
then Golden don't, don't don't.She'd be like, all right, time
(23:18):
to do those windows. So thisI will say that this record has a
leg up only because of the sentimentalreasons, Like it just is attached to
me and coming into this, cominginto this, it was just like this
is this is a record that whichis what I was scared off and I
ain't never scored. Yeah, it'svery ingrained in my child. However,
you have been telling this for likefour days now that you've been dead tied
(23:40):
on the two, which I literallythe first time you texted me that,
like like what if this record isa dead tie? I was like,
I'm making sure I'm making traction.So that record. I can't say enough
good things about it. It isdefinitely one of my favorites to put on
front to back, just listen toand it's it's definitely one of my top
favorite records I think of all thetime. Moving from southern California over to
(24:03):
the cold, cold winds of Minneapolishit us with some Purple Rain knowledge or
newly acquired knowledge. So I wasnever fans not the right word. I
knew who he was and I appreciatedit, but until I met Russ,
I was never like this is myjam, like this is as well for
like a lot of Prince fandom herein Detroit for sure, and it was
(24:26):
something that anything he's been on byme for me by Prince has always been
like oh yeah, and I've goneand listen to things on my own.
So it's definitely I would say it'sa new appreciation for me. And so
it's been probably in the last tenyears that I was like, yeah,
let's let's get into print, whichis understandable. Yeah, like I get
that. I take all comers likeanybody, you know what I mean,
(24:47):
walk, Yeah, you know whatI mean, Like I know, but
there are there are fans of bandsthat are just like, oh, well,
you know, you just gotta doit now? Who cares? Yeah?
Who cares? Yea. The onlything I get mad about with Prince
and this is a total sidebar, but is people that now have become fans
since he passed, And I don'tmind that. That's fine. That are
(25:08):
like empty the Vault, Well, why don't you listen to you know,
well, I mean I mean come, uh like listen listen to Come the
Symbol album, The Gold Experience PlanetEarth thirty one twenty one, and there's
like ten other one night alone,uh plectrum electrum, Like there's literally like
(25:29):
another five to six seven that I'mforgetting right now. How about you listen
to all of that? That youweren't giving Prince the time of day for
the last fifteen years before we worryabout what's in the vault. Like this
is gonna sound so self righteous, but the vault is for me. No,
the vault is for me. Thevault is for the guy who I
bought around the world of the daythrough plectrum electrum the day it came out,
(25:52):
you know what I mean. Like, I was there the whole time.
So I want to hear more prints. You don't get to tell me
you want here, Prince, becauseyeah, I haven't heard what's out there.
He chose great names for his album. Yeah, yeah, fantastic.
Do you know why thirty one twentyone is called thirty one twenty one because
the digits add up to seven.I'm bloom, I know, And seven,
(26:12):
by the way, is probably yourfavorite Prince is my favorite Prince from
an album. And not to bea jerk, but I don't think you
ever would have listened to the somethingif I play it for you. That's
sexy, amf oh god, that'sgood morning papers. My name, my
name is Prince. That's like threealbums later. I mean, just kidding
but saying no, but no,but but say same groove that was Prince
(26:33):
in the New Power Generation. Samesame groove though, you know, uh
but no, but from the ThreeChains of Gold, sexy AMF. My
name is Prince seven obviously. Imean the record just goes on and on
and on. You know, Iwill say rust Before I met you,
I I did not listen to Print. I would listen to Prince a quarter
as much as I do now andnow you Prance. I went from Prince
(26:57):
to Prance real quick, and itwas like, uh, he's got literally
somebody jam, He's literally got somethingfor everyone. Just wait till tomorrow.
But so much the day of thisepisode comes out, I'm getting four Prince
records that I've wanted forever. Yeah, finally Yeah, And one of them
is his jazz album from nineteen ninetynine. That's when I forgot to mention
(27:18):
the Rainbow Children and Holy Cow,like I can't help myself. When he
passed. When he passed, therewas a bunch of people articles that were
like, and he was working ona jazz album when he passed, And
there's like literally a legitimate journalists werelike, oh, I want to hear
a Prince album. Jazz album fromprince. Okay, how about you listen
to the one he listened to,released in nineteen ninety nine called The Rainbow
(27:41):
Children. You know what I mean? Like any there's lots of musicians out
there, and there's musical geniuses, and he fits into the latter definition.
He literal definition. Yes, hehe's just a he's a musical genius and
all and all fases of everything thathe did. So we got any Watson,
So we got through Let's go crazyeight other songs on the record,
(28:06):
Go ahead, I can't. Youliterally took all of my notes. I
was like, these are all thethings except for computer Blue is not your
ye, but you also wouldn't callit a stinker? No, no,
no, And I feel like itdoesn't stick out to me like a sore
thumb on the record, which iswhat I kind of if I don't like
the song and it just sticks outand doesn't belong to what I kind of
think is a stinker is, whichis crazy for this record. And again
(28:29):
I know I'm going hard for thisalbum, but how many different genres are
on this record, including a songwe all agreed you can't even call a
genre? Take me with you?And how does it not stick out,
like how do you come out ofa ripping guitar solo of Let's Go Crazy
and then drop this cheerful take Mewith You? And it doesn't sound out
of place. No, it offthose very well and I'll tell you why
you have to be princed to dothat. And it also sounds like it
(28:52):
goes with the movie, right.I could definitely see what's funny is?
I think Take Me with You wasin the movie for like thirty seconds stops,
which is funny. But the wholerecord, um, I guess the
other one that I wasn't the biggestfan of it's just there for me is
Baby I'm a Star. That's sucha bummer. It's such a it's such
an upbeat, motivational cut. It'sI don't hate it at all. It's
not a stinker. It isn't it'snot a stinker. If I had to
(29:15):
pick, and not even if Ihad to, those are the two songs
on the record that don't. They'renot one hundred percent for me, they're
just and maybe if I saw themovie it would change, But I haven't
seen the movie. Nobly the movie. It's not it's even it's not bad
it's just there. It's plus Andlike I say, for you, having
seen eight mile, you're gonna belike this is the same thing. And
(29:37):
I know you're not gonna be like, oh, Prince ripped off eminent,
but like you're just gonna be likethis hits all the same beatsas right,
one more thing like going toward yourrecord rest since I just keep talking about
great it is is if you justsay rumors in a conversation with somebody,
a rumor is a rumor. Noone has any idea that you're talking about
(29:57):
Fleetwood. If we're talking about mespecifically, and people know what's Yeah,
but if you just say purple Rainin any context, it means Prince.
It's almost at or an adjective ornoun. Yes. Yeah, yeah,
before him, purple Rain was notThey did not exist. It as a
thing that he created. Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure.
Yeah, it's it's a freaking movementand he freaking mastermind, little guy from
(30:22):
Minneapolis dropping all that on us,and then he had so much afterwards.
Anyways, we're focused on this onething, so uh and I kid you
not going into this. Michelle madeit very clear that she had not been
made up her mind yet, Andas I usually do about this time,
I'm going to ask you, haveyou made up your mind? You have
a ruling? She's looking concerned.I did before I sit down. No,
No, I don't. All right, Here's what's gonna happen. We
(30:45):
have worked me well, I know, yeah, well, you know.
Here's what's gonna happen. I'm gonnatake us to break. We're gonna have
some little chit and a little chatoff off air here, and then we
will come back and sort this out. Once upon a time, boring,

this episode as um and I mean, I'm having a fantastic time on this
episode. So let's here. Aftermuch deliberation and actually almost as much off
(33:04):
airtime as as the first half ofthe episode took, uh, I should
say, do you have an announcementfor us, I do here we go.
I can't decide shoot Lizzie Buckingham.I mean even the host of What's
(33:27):
Up with That has weighed in seeingthat was gonna work either way, Like
if if Linday had won, oh, shoot Linda Buckingham, and if Prince
had won, Oh Linda, Iforgot about you. Shoot Lizzie Buckingham.
So we have come to a decisionbetween the three of us that Michelle cannot
(33:50):
decide between these two records. Sowe're gonna kind of throw a hiccup in
here in the tournament, and uh, what are we doing, Facebook poller?
We want all of you to decide. Can I just say that both
these records got a nine out often? Oh Jesus christ Man, I
would rather you did, oh Man? So holy cow, um, I
(34:15):
am you know what. This one'srunning long, very bonus episode. So
I am not gonna address you whatyou just said, Jesus h So,
okay, so let me get somehousekeeping out of the way and then we'll
move on without this is gonna happento holy crapowl. Okay, So,
as you all know, you canvisit infects you screw or I'm sorry anchor
(34:40):
dot FM infects us grew podcast andhit that support button and help us out
for as little as a dollar amonth. I mentioned this on the main
episode last time, but we've hadseveral people in the last couple of weeks
help out. We have some reallycool things coming your way from those who
have helped support us, and thatwill keep us going in including some new
(35:01):
and even cooler ideas that we havecoming up. So please consider doing that
now. Usually we have shock ondiscuss for Michelle's choice here. Yeah,
and I kid you, not literally. I just told Michelle this is probably
the second hardest decision I've ever seenher make in her life was this here.
I really felt bad for you,and I'm not being funny. It
(35:23):

the top of the next one.Speaking of the next episode, this is
the final episode of the first round, which will be our first or I'm
(36:49):
sorry, this will be our lastof the Michelle Decided episodes because, again
of a social media poll, thelisteners have decided that going forward, they
would like to take this out ofyour hands. I don't know why I
know it's crazy. So we mayeven have to discuss doing a like a
Voice or American Idol thing where thelisteners get to vote on bringing an album
(37:10):
back. No no, no nono no no no. Like I don't
know, perhaps the Dark Side ofthe Moon or pet Sounds might get to
come back, but we'll cross thatbridge when we get there. For next
week, we have an album fromtwo thousand and six, Silver Silver Sun
Pickups car Carnivas Carnivas Silversun Pickups Carnivasfrom two thousand and six versus. I
(37:34):
don't even know if anybody's heard ofthis record from nineteen eighty two, Michael
Jackson thriller. So we got areal underdog. It's an R and B
record. It's yeah, Michael Jackson. He's from Gary, Indiana, Garry,
Indiana. Yeah, so it's areally sounds like a stinker, you
know how like a lot of peoplehaven't heard a lot of people haven't heard
(37:57):
of like may Or Hawthorne. Right, it's just Jackson is going places.
And also any Michael Jackson fan that'slistening, that was a pun going places.
That's a that's a pun. That'sa Jackson based pun. I know,
it's for Michael Jackson fans, notfor you who right, So,
