Dermott Kennedy's without Fear record against theBeach Boys pet Sounds. Clearly there was
a winner, Clem Well Michelle gavepet Sounds a seven out of ten,
which is obvious that that's exactly whatthat record deserves, so we will circle
back to that later in the tournament. And I had been teasing for weeks

episode seven was going to be theone that I did not envy you in
any way, shape or form about, because we have two gigantic monster records.
I mean, I don't like fourreel. These are monster monster records

guess the first question before we gointo anything else, And normally we wait

it, for one, because itspeaks for itself. And for two,

the first three songs on the recordare the ones that I have the least
about of notes about and because they'reall jams. Secondhand news. That's that's

think it's a lot of people don'tput together the secondhand news goost right in
with the title of the record,like Rumors Dreams, I think is one

of the best track twos in thehistory of the game. Like it just
comes out of all that energy ofsecondhand news and it's like boom boom,

I think never going back again isin my opinion one of the most underrated
Fleetwood Mac songs. It's my favorite. People just don't nobody ever named checks
that song. Yeah. When youif you go up to somebody right now

and go, what's your favorite FleetwoodMax song? You ask one hundred people,
one hundred of them are not goingto say never going back again,
which is a shape. Yeah.Once upon a time, Michelle was like,
this is my favorite song by them, and I was like, I'd
always just like not even paying attentionto it. Yeah, And I started
re listening to it a bunch oftimes and I was like, oh,
man, this is yeah, Ireally liked this song. Lindsey's the Man.
Yeah, No, Lindsay is theMan. Now. Here's where we

run into issues. For me.Songbird is just there now. And I
want to be clear because most peoplelistening to this are probably gonna be like,
oh, there's a Stevie fan.I love Christine McBee. I love
Christine mcviee. I totally get whythe people hate her, because there is
a strong I hate Christine McBee segmentout there. Um. People think her
nose is, her voice is nasily, and a lot of people gloves are

coming off early there's that, andthen there's also the thing where I think
she suffers from you're not Stevie's disease. You know, like a lot of
people are just like so drawn toStevie that they just don't I know,
I know you're talking to a Christinemcviey fan. But the song. My
point is, Songbird is just therefor me. It's not bad and it's

not good. It's just there forme. However, no matter how good
or bad Songbird is, um therecord takes a giant upswing with the huge
one two punch of the chain andyou make love and fun. And then
for me that like again, Iknow, people who we won't even give
you make love and fund of thetime of the time of the day.
Because Christine's singing it, and Ilove that song. I love her voice

on it. You know, that'sreally I think that's a gigantic one two
punch right in the middle of therecord. For me, the biggest problems
of the record come after that.I don't want to know, and oh
daddy, I don't want to know. It's the rest of the record is
so strong that I don't want toknow. Just sounds phoned in to me,
it's just it's all it's I don'twant to call it filler, but

when you put it up against everythingelse on the record, it is filler.
It would be a great hit forsomeone else, but it's not as
anywhere near as good as the restof the songs on Rumors. Does that
make sense? And then Oh Daddyagain, I don't hate Christine. I
just the song is just there.And I think one thing that I don't
like about Oh Daddy is that Steviejust comes right over the top of that

song afterwards with gold Dust Woman toround the record out. Gold Dust Woman
is such a jam. It issuch a jam, and it's a fantastic
closer. And I think that likeevery time I've ever listened to Rumors front
to back, when I don't wantto know when O Daddy starts, I'm
literally being like, how long tillguld tests Woman? You know what I'm

saying. So do you agree?Disagree? Oh? Yeah, I agree
with a lot of what you said. Literally, if you in my own
personal opinion, I do not carewho is singing what, because that entire
it's a masterpiece. It's a rockmasterpiece, not rock, but light rock.

then then it makes the record evenbetter, right because they're all singing
about each other essentially, and uhyeah, I mean at each other about

classic rock or what people are gonnaget all pissed off because I'm classifying it

If you like the type of musicthat it is, if you like
drama, cocaine but cocaine but cocaine, and delicious music, then this is

the record for you. Yeah,delicious music. I think the record before
it is crazy underrated, like thefirst one with Lindsay and Stevie, Like
no one ever pays much attention tothat, and that's a great record.

I think Lindsay and Stevie brought somethingto the band that was born on

that I like about secondhand News asan opener is that it's almost like because
they was straight up outrage among Fleetwoodmacfans that were like, this is not
my Fletwood Mac, you know,due to the Peter Green Welch era before
that, and secondhand News is almostlike, well, if you didn't like
that, sure, shit not gonnalike this, you know, Yeah,

it just it just mount and andit's very parallel to Journey's career too,
Like when Steve Perry came in,a lot of Journey fan Greg Rowley fans
and prior to Steve Perry were supermad when you know, they feeling that

is actually a better record than Butthat's a whole different discussion for another time.
So moving over to Minneapolis and uh, the nineteen eighty four masterpiece of
Purple Rain. I swear I'm gonnatry and keep this short, but I
have no every single song on therecord. Oh you gotta go, do

you? You gotta hurry up andget listening to pet sounds or something that's
a slid or maybe maybe just skiponce and start on Pearl Jam ten from
from even Flow on bringing up someof the past controversy. So for me,
I think Let's Go Crazy it isone of the most underrated track ones
in the history of the game.No one ever talks about what a monster
first track that is. People talkabout Let's Go Crazy, and everybody knows

the song, but no one talksabout it's just a monster, like it
sets up everything about the record thatyou're about to hear. It's just like,
hey, I'm going to just createmy own genre and my own sound
all at once on this this trackand everything else you're going to hear.
So I think it's just a masterdisplay of talent. And take Me with

You goes in completely the opposite directionof Let's Go Crazy. When I was
a kid, I used to think, and when I say what I was
a kid, I mean like tenor twelve, I used to think of
it as like a motown groove,and then as I grew older, I
was like, no, it's noteven a motown groove. It's its own
thing. If you put a guninto my head and said what type of
music is take me with you you, I would just be on the floor,

Computer Blue. I literally have thiswritten down. It's a two fur it's
a dance song in the first halfand it's a rock song in the second
half, and I knew that wasyou're giving me the look. I knew
for upfront that Computer Blue was goingto be the song that you didn't like

Okay, there's it's not exactly astinker um. But for me, computer

the end of the Beautiful Ones upto a dance beat, and then it
just plane turns over to a masterfulrock track. Like there are rock bands
in the eighties that would have lovedfor their entire career to be known for

And truth be told, it istwo different songs that he put down into
one for the record because of timelimits. So he was just like,
well, it was the way thisis gonna work. You know I can
get away with it. I'm Prince. Yeah, Darling Nikki, I think
is the pinnacle of everything Prince wasgoing Yeah, I think, Darling Nikki
is It's it's the pinnacle of everythingPrince was going for from for you up

till nineteen ninety nine. If alienscame down and said, what does Prince
sound like? I would put onDarling Nikki, Like that's the song that
he was trying to make for thefive or six Nuts before a couple bunch

a movie with Adam Sam and Jasont stays pretty in character the whole But

Yeah, I've seen what I've sangwith him? No, boy, I
say I can never take the placewith him. We've seen them probably ten
times, and he stays, youknow, he's not he doesn't think he's
prince. But like with these Michaelimpersonators or tribute artists or Elvis, it
helps if they stay in character.And that was the one time where I
saw him was like, dude,shut up. That's not even the name

of the song. And what's funnyis I've seen him do that song and
they didn't do it that night,which I wouldn't have done anything. So
anyways, flipping over to side twoor the rest of the album, depending
on how you listen to it,um, When Doves Cry is one of
the best and most sexy dance songsof all time. And it's a rock
song. It's not even a dancesong. It's a freaking rock song.

And I don't know if either ofyou know this about this song. Do
you know what? The do youknow what? When Doves Crst missings crying
bass. There's no bassline in thesong When Doves Crst. He's not all
about that bass, not in thatsong, but the lyrics and the melody
are astounding, the way they intertwinedto Cold. Maybe I'm jet, like

the way they weaves underneath. Imean, come on, and it's it's
one of the world's best dance songsand it's a rock song without a bassline.
Come on, baby, I'm astar. I literally the top of
my notes as well. Hot damn, I mean, my thing is this

hot damn. It's another rock andsong. I dare anyone to sit

down on this cut and not instantlybe motivated by the drums, lyrics based
and energy that song. The lyrics, if you listen to the lyrics,
you will be like I can doanything, Like it's such a motivational song,
like I'm a big deal, youknow, And like I say,
the bass of the drums, synth, everything about it is wonderful Purple rain.
What is there to say? It'san amazing way to end the record.

You don't even have to know thestory of the album or the lyrics
of the song. It's much likethe Beautiful Ones, where when you hear
it, you're just like, whathappened? You know? Now, if
you know the meaning behind the song, then it does take on a new
meaning because it is a very positivemessage about hope and whatnot. But if

you don't know that, that's okaytoo, Like it's gonna affect you either
way. So for me, andI told Bothie this, and I'll say
this to all the listeners too.When when we did when we started this
tournament, Kyle and I picked botheight records a piece. And when Kyle
gave me his list, he hadRumors on it, and I originally had
Rumors on my list. I don'teven remember where it was placed, but

I had it on there and Itook it off. So I genuinely love
both of these records. But I'mgoing to tell you here now why I
truly think that Purple Rain is aslightly better record than Rumors. Okay,
ready, Purple Rain works three differentways as an album. Every single song
on this record works on its own. You could put any song on this

album on in any environment and eitherget the party going, or make your
friend feel better with a ballot,or motivate someone or whatever. Every single
song works individually. Secondly, everysong works as a whole. If you
put it on, Let's Go Crazyruns right into take Me with You.
Take Me with You runs right intothe beautiful ones like and I actually didn't

you know, it's funny, Itotally skipped over I would die for you.
That's how god damn good this recordis. It's like, I didn't
even you know when Doves Cry?When that ends, boom boom, you
hear I would die for you inyour head. But you could just put
when Doves Cry on by itself orI would Die for You on itself.
And then third and this is somethingthat rumors can't help, but it also

works as the complete total one ofthe best soundtracks of all time, Like
it tells you the story of themovie as it's happening, and you don't
even have to have seen the movie. You can listen to the record and
just go, well, this isa whole story, right, Yeah,
yeah, I know someone's offer forRain, and it's whomever produced eight MIO.

So that, for me is thebiggest reason why the one edges out
the other is because it works onthree different levels. Not it's not just
one extra level above rumors, it'sit works in a third, you know.
And I maintain you can listen torumors straight through all you want to,

are you going to There's certain songsthat never in your life are you going
to put on one off on Rumors? And everyone you know one of these
songs from Purple Rain is their alltime favorite print song that might not be

not even close to my favorite printsong. But I know like fifty people

damn movie that goes along with it. Um though, I wish there was

get a very sanitize like Bohemian Rhapsody, Like nothing going on. They were

Doves Cry on its own and haveno you could have no idea that the

You know. Anyways, go onthe entire record front back. It flows
very well for my record, Um, it flows really well. I like
the it starts out amazing with secondhand News, and that's a great first
song. I don't even mind.I don't even mind that. Like no,

if that was if that was anybodyelse, I would be like,
write some lyrics, dude, youknow a little. As soon as you
say second hand News, I'm like, Papa, Papa. My favorite part
is a very outra where the wholerecord is amazing and I feel like I
have a very um sentimental attachment toit. It is what my mom played
all the time when I was akid in the Quirins world. It came

in the mail with copies of orwith samples of Tides, and I can
I can in my mind imagine herputting this on and cleaning the house like

to do those windows. So thisI will say that this record has a
leg up only because of the sentimentalreasons, Like it just is attached to

a slid or maybe maybe just skiponce and start on Pearl Jam ten from

I think Let's Go Crazy it isone of the most underrated track ones

first track that is. People talkabout Let's Go Crazy, and everybody knows

you know the meaning behind the song, then it does take on a new

album on in any environment and eitherget the party going, or make your
friend feel better with a ballot,or motivate someone or whatever. Every single
song works individually. Secondly, everysong works as a whole. If you
put it on, Let's Go Crazyruns right into take Me with You.
Take Me with You runs right intothe beautiful ones like and I actually didn't

you know, it's funny, Itotally skipped over I would die for you.
That's how god damn good this recordis. It's like, I didn't
even you know when Doves Cry?When that ends, boom boom, you
hear I would die for you inyour head. But you could just put
when Doves Cry on by itself orI would Die for You on itself.
And then third and this is somethingthat rumors can't help, but it also

works as the complete total one ofthe best soundtracks of all time, Like
it tells you the story of themovie as it's happening, and you don't
even have to have seen the movie. You can listen to the record and

I think Take Me with You wasin the movie for like thirty seconds stops,

other one that I wasn't the biggestfan of it's just there for me is

an upbeat, motivational cut. It'sI don't hate it at all. It's
not a stinker. It isn't it'snot a stinker. If I had to

on the record that don't. They'renot one hundred percent for me, they're
just and maybe if I saw themovie it would change, But I haven't
