Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, yo, man, what a dude? Man? What's up Chicago?
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Y'all mean this main man ox Omny man live from Brooklyn,
New York. Man, you're now tuned into the Infinite Banter
Podcast with my main man, DJ sound Wave Man.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Tune in.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
I know what it is, but.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Here it is another episode of the Infinite Banter podcast.
What is going on? My name is Mark Johns aka
DJ Soundwave. Thanks for checking out the show. This right
here is number two hundred and one. So those of
who listened to the last episode, that was a two
hundred episode of this podcast, going on six years of
doing this thing. So I appreciate everybody who's been listening
(01:05):
and being a part of it from there till now
till here till whenever. Salute to all of you. And
on this episode, the two hundred and first, we've got
hip hop artists from New York ox Omni talk about
his new album, No Prayers to the Devil. So really
looking forward to ox Omni coming on the show talking
to him about this album and much much more. So
stay tuned ox Omni's on the show. We'll get into
(01:28):
his new album, No Prayers to the Devil. Out on
all platforms and for the new year. I'm kind of
excited about this. One of my favorite movie franchises. A
majority of the movies from that franchise are now on
a free platform that I could watch on my phone
or wherever anytime I want. And I'll talk about it
later on in the episode. But I don't know why
I'm hyped for it. I think I just need some
(01:50):
good news. So I'm really excited, and I'll talk about
that at the end of the podcast, So stay tuned
for that. No flashback in this episode because the last
episode was a flat I mean, I guess I could
play the two hour episode as a flashback, but I
think that's crazy. You want to hear some old stuff,
you go back to the last episode. There's plenty of
it in there, so definitely go check out that episode.
(02:11):
Usually just a spot where I play flashback from the
previous episode, so we'll get back to that doing the
next episode. You hear a little clip of ox Omni
when I do the next one coming up here. But
as I did in the last episode, and unfortunately I
have to do again here, so I had to. I
dedicated the last episode to a friend of mine who
passed away Mark Bean's aka Preach, and uh, this is
(02:34):
a really rough one here too, because you know, my
father was in the hospital for over a month, and
in between doing this episode right now and the last one,
you know, it was it was definitely tough to even
think about anything, let alone doing this, you know, silly
thing I do here. So, uh yeah, my father passed
(02:55):
away since the last episode came out, so definitely, you know,
hard to get in the right headspace for anything, just sleeping,
you know, just doing things. So anybody out there who's
lost to parents, you know, I'm sure you guys know
what I'm feeling. And just want to dedicate this episode
to my dad, Robert Jolliffe. He definitely was a fan
(03:18):
of my radio era, especially when I used to work
at the Score Sports station. He used to let me
know whenever he heard my name mentioned, or a few
times I got to pot the mic on and talk,
he always let me know that he heard me, and
just you know, it just it's there's no words I
can really say, especially on this platform. I even hesitate
(03:39):
to even bring it up here, but you know, I
just definitely want to dedicate this episode and basically everything
I do going forward to him. So hopefully I can
stop doing these dedication episodes. It would really be nice, man,
So rest in peace to Pops, my dad, Robert Jolliffe,
and of this episode will be done with intentions of
(04:00):
being dedicated to him. So salutes everybody's been reaching out
and saying nice things and comments and all that. Really
appreciate the support at this time. All right, So let's
get into the episode itself. Kind of fitting that this episode,
it's based on an album has a lot of like
you know, religious feels to it and a lot of
you know, talking about the devil and angels and you know,
(04:25):
struggles in life. It kind of fits in a way.
I don't I'm not saying my dad would listen to
this album, but he would probably appreciate the themes being
said in it in an episode where I'm dedicating it
to him. So let's go ahead and get the show started.

ahead and play a track from his new album, No
Prayers to the Devil. And this track right here might
be my favorite song on the album. I told him
this in the interview. Coming up, what you'll hear shortly,
Guilty is Charged, one of my favorite songs on the
album might be my favorite. So let's go ahead and
get into it. Ox Omne Guiltiest Charged, from his new

Speaker 6 (09:18):

man is losing. He's frowning in this chest mask with
the with the devil for his soul and check me.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
But this does not checkmate.
Speaker 6 (09:34):
I can look into Pusson still has another move, and
you're gonna hit this time movie.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
I don't way in this time of any quality, in
this time of social justice, in this pandemic, in the
sickness and this unappointment, so many of us have frowns
on our faces that we're depressed.
Speaker 6 (09:52):
It looks like the devil was one.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
You know.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
It's like we're defeating.
Speaker 6 (09:56):
But I want you to understand that the king still
has another move.
Speaker 8 (10:00):

Welcome to show rep in New York. Ox Omne aka
ox Don what's up? Man?
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Yo yo yo? What's the man?
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Yeah, man, It's an honor privilege all that to have
you on the podcast man, and been banging out this
album the last couple of days. And for heads who
are not familiar with your work, I know you're big
on the underground scene. Some know US ox Don, some
know us ox Omne. Talk about you know how long
you been in the game and doing this hip hop thing?
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Man?
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Oh man, I mean shoot, I mean you know it's
really I've really been a student my whole life, man,
you know, keep keep going one hundred percent. I've been
a student whole life, you know, always had a passion
for the music, but pursuing it seriously, you know on
some like career career.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Wise, i'd say about five six years on the right.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Yeah, man, was there like a tipping point for you?
Was there like something where's like your pen game got strong,
or was there something that kind of pushed you to
really look at it as more than just something you
kind of do like for fun?
Speaker 6 (11:20):
You know?
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah, yeah, I mean honestly, it's you know, aside from
my love and passion for the for the arts, man,
I would more so say it's it's uh my my fellow.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Comrades who inspired me to want to pursue it seriously,
because you know, I started out.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
With a with a few artists that you guys now
growing to love and know you know what I'm saying,
and just seeing them get to reach the level that
they've got, and it inspired me, like, you know, like shit,
I need to do get myself off too, right?
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Did we come from the same camp, and you know,
I see them getting with it and it's just it's
just inspirational and motivation for me to like believe them
my shit more, you know what I mean. Excuse my language.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
You can swear all you at man, and.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
That's gonna say.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
That's pretty big to think about, because no matter what
you do, I mean me doing this podcasting, you're doing music,
whatever it is you're into, you know, you kind of
need that inspiration to either keep going or know that
you're going on the right path and you're working towards something.
And man, salute to those cats that you definitely you know,
got you inspired. And we know you've done a lot
of work with Rome Streets talk about him and he's
(12:27):
on this album.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Yeah, that's yeah, that's that's the inspiration right there. Man,
that's my brother. Man.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
You know, he's he's a veteran. You know, he's definitely
a veteran now that you know, But to me, he's
my brother man. You know, we started this thing together.
So to see how ands all he's gone with it
definitely has been an inspiration and the motivation for my
drive as well.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Man.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt in this album, No Prayers to
the Devils out now, as I said in the intro,
and Rome Streets is on a track on here called
Kitchen Counter. You must get in that song right right
off the bat Man talk about that track.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Yo man kits and is kind of like I'm hoping
it's as transparent as I was aiming for it to
be with the people, because it's a song that you know,
if you're an artist and you're creative, it doesn't matter
your avenue. You have a starting point where you're you're
aspiring and dreaming to become great at what you do.
And that was kind of like what the song is about,
(13:20):
the humble beginnings. And you know, it all started from
my mother's kitchen counter. I was in the kitchen making
drum patterns and just rhyming and just dreaming on one
day getting played on the radio and things like that,
and I kind of wanted to translate that in the record,
and it's like, you know, it's been a painful journey.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
It wasn't easy to get here. It's been a long journey,
long trying.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Journey, ups and downs in life, man, And that's what
this record is about, you know, the journey to get here,
you know, to finally arrive in a real place where
you're able to, you know, resonate with people through your music.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
That's cool, man. I'm sure she appreciated you hitting on
that counter all the time too. Right now, you're trying
to do something in the kitchen, get out of here.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Yeah, man, I definitely drove a crazy right.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
You just don't use the good pans and the good pots.
You know, you can ding up the counter all you want.
It's fine.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Not the neighbors downstairs.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Oh my god, there it is. See that now I
put another perspective people down or hopefully they're like this.
They heard this album, like you know what, I've seen
it in him all this time when he was banging
on that counter.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
I knew, you know what I mean, this is what's
going on right now there it is.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Yeah, so it all comes full circle, man, and that's
the humble beginnings like you mentioned, and into where you
are today. And I got to give you this album.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Man.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
It's it's definitely there's a lot going on here. It's
so full, it's you know, I feel like like an
energy towards it. And it feels like it's like you
said it already. It kind of takes you to a path,
like a journey of like where you were where you are.
You know, there's a lot going on in this album.
The concept behind it. When you originally came up with it,
you wanted to.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Have I mean, honestly, my goal was to just I
wanted to make a beautiful body of work, you know,
no matter how it went.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
I felt like I at the time, I felt like
I had set the bar high for myself.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
But I feel like I allowed too many different influences
on my previous project. You know, not that it was
a bad thing, but it just didn't feel like one
thousand percent all me, you know what I mean. It
wasn't as the process wasn't as intimate, you know, where
it wasn't a bunch of different producers, it wasn't a
bunch of features.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
It was none of that. With this album, was just
straight organically me being in the space.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
I was in and I, you know, Max and I
kind of just we just locked in because our introduction
was actually on Jenni Saqua the song called Short Shot,
produced by him, and that's when we kind of discovered
that we had a really good chemistry working together and
we kind of just confirmed it during the process of
this album. Man, he helped me to kind of like
(15:57):
translate everything I was going through, you know, up now,
and I would say I executed it, man. You know,
I feel people are definitely seeing where I was at,
you know, and feeling the pain and the struggle that
it took takes to get here and do this, man.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
So yeah, no doubt, man, And I'm sure having a
producer like him, you know, working throughout the whole album
with you it helps the focus too, because he's coming
with a sound that you know you're going to work with,
right that you know what it's going to be.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Like, And well, yeah, I enjoy that. I've come to
enjoy that a lot more. You know, over the years
of being creative, I've worked with multiple different producers on
projects where I'm taking beats from all over the place.
I mean, that's always fun, but it's definitely a different
space when you lock in with one producer and you're
able to create a full body of work. It's definitely
(16:46):
an entirely different experience. And Max was the perfect guy
for this one.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Man.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
That's like, you know, that's really like my brother man
outside the music, you know, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
No doubt, And let's shout him out a little bit.
So ninety four Max produced the whole album, right, And
how long you guys have been knowing each other. This
is the first time did a full album with him, right.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Yeah, this is my first time doing a full album.
I met Max like back around and I'd say about
twenty nineteen or twenty twenty or something like that, and
we kind of like I was introduced to him by
a fellow artist, you know, one of the guys that's
a part of the camp as well, brought me to
the studio and it was like immediate, man, It's instantly.
(17:27):
The minute I heard this production, it was it just
spoke to me, you know, in a way that no
other producers had, you know, they didn't bring that side
of me out at the time, you know. Hearing Max,
it just was it was as if his beats were
like speaking to my experiences. So it was like holy matimony. Man,
It's the best way I could put it. Once we
(17:47):
did short Shot, you know, we kind of gave each
other that look like yo, like who the fuck are you?
He's like you, and I'm like, yeah, I think we
got something here, man, and we it was like I remember,
very very vimbily. Was like one particular time I went
there and you know, I was going through some personal
things and I had about six records, you know, and
(18:09):
I knocked them all out in one night, and he
was just looking at me like, holy shit, this guy
is like a machine and some shit, you know what
I mean, And that's how the album started to be honest,
it was like since that very moment.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
We just locked in man, or he unlocked you too,
you know, like he got you going.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Honestly, that's the best way to put it, yeah man,
he unlocked the unlocked.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
That's the best way to put.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
It, yeah man. And then put you onto because then
you got the beats and everything and the productions and
everything's just coming.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
You know, there's you.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
You notice, man, there's a lot of artists who searched
years and just never get that right team up right,
you know what I mean exactly? Yeah, and it means
something and when it when a piece of work like
this comes out, it's it shows that there was some
sort of collaboration that was meant, you know, to go together. So,
you know, a man suit to you guys, you.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Know, because I've not a lot of other producers who
I'm also looking forward to working with that I have
a great relationship and in friendship with as well, you
know what I'm saying. But it was just something special
and different with me and air Max that definitely guys
look forward to hearing a lot more from me and him.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Man, that's like my my, my home base, you.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Know, producer at this you guys definitely will be getting
a lot more from me and Max Man. But it is,
you know, like you said, it's a special it's definitely
a special thing when you find that producer that just
gets you as an artist, man.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
And that's what it is with me and Max Man.
That's my that's my that's my guy, right.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
And you know there's producers that you probably like a lot,
and I'm sure there's mcs that he likes a lot too,
and you know, sometimes doesn't always clicks as well. And
this one, obviously, you guys are a lot of something
and you know, we gotta we got a classic here
in each other, in each.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Other man, Yeah, for you know, I think I brought
out the best of his production as well, you know
what I mean. So I'm sure you he'll admit that too,
you know. So yeah, man, there you go.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Man.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
And the themes in this one man very biblical too, right,
I mean you got to cover you're playing chess with
the devil. I think I'm thinking when I'm not good
at chess, I can't tell if're winning the game or not.
But it looks like you were.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
I mean, that's the concept of the color Man. It's
very it's very it's very meaningful. You know.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
I felt like what I aimed for was I wanted
people to understand the disparity between good and evil, right
and wrong, you know.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
And it's like we're all conflicted with that as human beings.
You know.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
I think we're all trying to be the best people
we can be for our families and our loved ones.
And you know, we don't want to hurt people in jail.
You know, sometimes it happens, but that's not our intentions.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
So I feel like throughout this life's journey, we we
we we grow, and we start to under understand ourselves
a lot better, you know. And it's like that's what
this was for me, you know, just knowing that I
was I lived my life a certain way because there
was a time in my life when I was in
survival mode, you know, and it was like, Okay, I
got to get out of my situation. And I'm not
(20:55):
thinking that what I'm doing is wrong or bad, you know,
But I end up in situations because of the choices
that I'm making. I realize and I go whole shiit
this Maybe that wasn't Maybe that wasn't the right thing
to do, you know, and it's like, what's the lesson.
What's the lesson is understanding that you know, you got
to learn from your experiences and the mistakes that you made.
And I don't think that that's cool now no more.
(21:18):
People don't highlight that anymore. People don't want to.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Say, yeah, you can screw up, but you gotta make
sure you get it right. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
You gotta make sure that you stay in the light,
you know what I mean. And that's what this album's about,
you know, playing trust with the devil. The game of life.
The wages of the game is your soul. You're either
gonna go to heaven or you're gonna go to hell
quote unquote right.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
But man, you know you don't ye thinking a lot
from what you just said, that is.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
Man, because it's like, look, if you if you continue
to stay on the wrong path, then the devil will win.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
If you stay on the right path, there's always a
chance of hope. You know, God always comes through at
the darkest hour. Not to get all religion but if
you notice, I put the Angel next to me because
she's watching over my moves. And even though it looks
like I'm under pressure and I'm refeated, like I said
on the album, i still have another move because my
king is still on the board.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
I'm not a checkmate, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
Yeah, I was trying to figure that out because, like
I said, I need checkers. You know, it's like that
Denzel quote. You know, I'm only playing checkers. You're playing chess,
you know, whatever that is. And I'm looking at it,
I'm like, yeah, I think he's still got his king there.
If I'm looking at.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
A cardt I definitely do.
Speaker 7 (22:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
And if you listen to the album, there's a skit
that explains the whole concept of the cover. It's telling
you that the king still has another move. So no
matter how dark times are, as long as you stay
righteous and have faith, you will pull through, you know
what I mean. And I'm a testimony of that for
my own life, and I just wanted to share that
with the people.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Man.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
Yeah, you know, I'm out here in Chicago, but I've
been in New York a couple of times, and I
have one of those Metro cards. I kept it here
and I see it on the cover and I was like, hey,
there it is a Metro card right there, there's a pigeon.
You know, it feels very city, you know what I mean,
Like chicag we had pigeons too, you know, you know,
it feels like that.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
I flew the town from New York City, so you know,
I gotta you know, I gotta incorporate the town everything
I do.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
I gotta let the people know where I'm from.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
Man, there is there's no doves in there to pigeons.
That's it's very very much you know New York.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Man, the graffiti and all that.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
The graffiti, you know what I'm saying, all that, man,
it's it's just culture, man, culture, you know, and we
just want to change what's cool.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Man.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
We want to we want to show people that's okay
to be yourself. You don't have to do what everyone
else is doing. You know, just be good, Just actually
be good at whatever it is you do. You know,
put some time into it, put some some real thought
into it.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
And you know, and that's what this says.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
You know, no doubt what part of New York you're from.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Man, I'm originally from Kanasi, Brooklyn.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
But don't I don't like to claim anyone action because
I'm one of those people who just moved around in
New York City for my whole life. Man, I've lived
in Queens, I've lived. The only place I've never lived
was probably the Bronx Man and Staten Island. I'm all
throughout the five borough including the outskirts you know, Long
Island them stead to be exact, and you know, shout
out to all my guys man.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
Man name rings out and all the Burroughs and people know.
You know, that's what's up.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Man. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
Here in Chicago we just go sides the north side,
south side, you know, west side lay our claim is
on the sides of the city. So in New York
obviously much bigger when it comes to that. But man,
salute dude. That's that's pretty cool to hear that. But yeah,
like I said, the themes throughout the album, you know,
got a lot of biblical feel to it, you know
what I mean. And the video for Angelic, I wanted
to get into that, and of course that track itself,
(24:33):
you know, you got the car and everything. I really
like the videos that really makes the song kind of
pop out come on.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Man, that shout out to my boyz media. On the visuals,
Man is a dope dope, dope dope videographer. He's actually
from overseas, but he's he's based based out of New York,
you know right now, So we've we've we've developed, you know,
a good friendship over the years, and you know, as
a result, here we are, man.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
You know that's what's where was that film? I'm sure
with some different spots too, right.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
But yeah, it's a multiple locations in the New York
City area, Manhattan, but the main shot, so I would say,
is Chinatown.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
Okay, right, man? How fun is that to do? I know,
you like get in the studio and all that, but
is it kind of a like a cool is it hard?
Is like work for you? Or you like going out?
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Okay, that's the best part because it's kind of like
the terrry on top.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
You know, after you you've done all the recording and everything,
that's the fun part. Now you can kind of like
paint your pictures visually. And you know, I enjoy it, man, Yeah,
show and proved many.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Every aspect of it is something I enjoy for sure.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
Man, what other videos can we expect anything else coming
from this album?
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Definitely, man, most definitely some more visuals. I'm probably gonna
give you guys at least another two or three more
videos from this album. But aside from that, there's gonna
be merch on the way, there's vinyls on the way,
and I'm also gonna have studies and concepts available for everybody,
So to all the vinyl collect is in the CED
and casette collectors, be on the lookout for sure.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
You go, everybody, make sure you cop that merch and
everything when it comes out. And my favorite track on
here probably is Guiltiest Charge. That's probably my favorite song.
It kind of kicks off the album too, so yeah,
I feel like it sets it up really well. Talk
about that.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Track song too.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
I believe there it is.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
It's very dear to me that record because I'm speaking
on my children, you know, speaking on my other daughter
she's now she's going to be sixteen this year, and
also my son who's going to be thirteen this year.
So you know, it's been a challenge, man. You know,
it's a lot of things surrounding. We all have a story, right,
(26:43):
you know, so right, you know, it's just a piece
of it, you know that part that's particular record touches on,
you know, understanding that you have to take accountability in
life as a parent, as a man, you know, as
a human being. And that's kind of what that record
is for me, man, taking accountability for my shortcomings as
a father, and you know, just you know, a message
(27:04):
to them, like maybe they'll hear it later on in
life and understand it a lot better. You know that
I that I never meant for them to go through
things that they went through when they were younger, and
this is all in the efforts to better myself so
I could be a better fallow for them, man.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Man, salute for that. And that's what's great about doing music, right,
I Mean, you could put all that into an album
or a song and that's there forever. I mean, it's
always going to be there. People can listen to it
years from now and that's part of the legacy and people,
you know, your kids, you know, everybody that knows you
could listen to it like, oh that's what he's talking about.
I get it, you know what I mean. It's it's
different than just like a text or telling something. You know,
(27:38):
what I mean. So sure, man, And I'm sure it's
therapeutic for you too, to.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Like, you know, yeah, passion, Yeah, absolutely, because you know,
it's like a level of vulnerability, you know that you
have to be comfortable with, you know, displaying to the world.
You know, people are gonna have opinions and they're gonna judge,
but I'm not. I don't love for the opinions of others,
you know what I mean, So it's about them. I
only judgment I care about is the babies, the actual people.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
But I'm talking right right sure.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
And I'm one of those dudes. Whenever I see an album,
I look at the titles and like, you know, I'm
like a Walking Dead fans. I saw that title. I
saw stone Colds like wrestling. I'm like, wait, man, I
don't think he's gonna be talk aboutretling, you know what
I mean. It's and I saw Peyton folks. I'm a
rock Kim fans. I'm like, all right, let me. I
can't wait to play these tracks, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (28:23):
You know, and I love that.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
That was my goal to just catch the you know,
the eyes of the people who just you know, doing
going off the face value aspect of the album.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
I wanted it to captivate them, just the cover and
the titles, and it does align. It does have meanings
those titles like Stone Colder.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
It's just this is what I became, Like I felt
like I got There was a point in time when
I had to shut down, you know that self, you know,
certain parts of myself to survive. You know, as I
mentioned earlier, you know it's like survival mode. You know,
you kind of have to take the emotions out of
things and do what you gotta do to get where
you gotta be.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
You know that's it, man.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Yeah, sure, Paid in Full that was a dope record
because that was just speaking on integrity. Paid in Full
is about your integrity. You know, I know that I'm
a trustworthy person. So it's like speaking to the culture
of the streets and you know the people who who
I know have walked the path that I've walked. It's
like the language, you know, a couple of kilos on
her arm could tell I'm good for it.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
It's like I'm not saying I'm.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
A drug dealer, but say I was a drug dealer,
and you know I'm the kind of guy you could
give give give, you know, trust with your product, and
I'm not gonna run off You're trustworthy.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Good for it. I'm gonna bring that money back, you
know what I'm saying. And I had to.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
I had the honor of working with the dope artists
that I you know, I got to build with throughout
the process of the album coming together.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
My boy rocking up. He's overseas and you know, I
kind of owed him.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
A record, so this was like a makeup for that
record that I owe him, and it just came together perfect.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Man. Yeah. Man.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
When I was hearing him too, I was like, man,
where's he from? I trying to pick up on where
his accent was. And yeah, he made some references shade.
He was like one of my favorite singers. I was like,
I said, I'm locked in man when I hear these references.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Killed Yeah, he killed he killed that. He killed that.
Speaker 9 (30:10):
Man.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
He did an amazing job. Man, that's my guy right there.
Definitely look lookout for more more work for me and
him in the future as well, you know.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt man. And like I said, when
I was looking at the titles before I even press play,
I'm like, man, I can't wait to dive into these
tracks because just the titles got me geeked. And yeah,
walking Dead was another track I liked a lot too,
so he definitely want to give a shout out to
that song as well.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Yeah, Walking Dead, Man, that record was just like shit, man,
it was just like, man, this is who I am,
unapologetically or who I was. It was a point in
time when I was just really on that type of time.
And you know, because like I said, this record is
definitely a reflection of who I was and and who
I'm becoming. You know, who I'm becoming now is is
(30:53):
ox omni. You know ox don and Ox in real life,
but definitely two different kind of people.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
You know what, Man, is there a third one? Is there?
Like a trilogy? Is like a third Ox coming?
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I mean, you know, it's yeah, so much multi ego aspect,
it's just a growth aspect aspect. It's kind of like
coming and understand that being a certain way and having
a certain mindset is not healthy for yourself and for
the people that you care about, because sometimes we're selfish,
you know, we can't see anything other than what we're
trying to accomplish in what we want. And there's people
(31:26):
who genuinely has our best interests at heart, who love us,
and we just have a tendency to overlook them and
hurt them sometimes when we're like we have that tunnel
vision mindset of trying to accomplish our goals. So you know,
there was a time when I was like in that
mode man for real, you know, not realizing the people
I was hurting, you know, because it's like I'm so
like tuned into what I got going on in my
(31:48):
personal life. You know, I don't want to get too
much into it via this interview, but no doubt, you know,
but you know, it was like you come out, you
make it out those bad situations and you go, you
see what you do on You see the dammage staring
your face, and if you have a conscience, which is
where I mentioned with disparity of good and evil, the
good wolf the bad wolf, it's like, who do you
(32:08):
want to see? You want to feed the bad wolf.
Some people give up on themselves and they go, you
know what, fuck it. Everybody thinks I'm fuck up anyway.
Everybody think I'm not gonna be shit anyway, So I'm
just gonna be this ain't shit.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Whatever person that's how. Or you could change the narrative,
which is what I'm choosing to do, you know, turn
the pain in the same pain, man.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
You know, and I like that write there it is. Yeah,
that's better than that Lemons quote. You always hear about, right,
your Lemons make whatever it's better.
Speaker 9 (32:40):
There it is.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
But you touched on that earlier too. It's just about
learning from mistakes or learning from your past. And yeah, yeah,
you only get better if you if you learn from it.
Otherwise you just do them again, you know exactly.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
You just get me stuck in this And that's what
what do they call that? Insanity? You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
The sanity is doing the same thing and expecting the
different results. So if you want changing your you got
to switch it up, change the lanes, going to different,
try something new, man. You know, if something's not working,
try something else, you know. You know, I stuck with
the music because there was times when I felt like
it wasn't working, but I saw the potential in it.
I never had anyone telling me, you know, you're not
(33:15):
You're not good at this, This isn't for you.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
You don't got it.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
I knew it was only a matter of time before
I did the right thing for people to understand what
I'm trying to do, you know as an artist.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
Yeah, man, And that's how you lay down that groundwork
for this album. And I'm definitely looking forward to the
next piece of work you do, because I have a
feeling it's just going to grow from there. And you
really spoken something too about you know, doing the same
thing over and over again, because you know, I like
pizza and stuff and I can't keep eating it and
then complain about my weight and cholesterol. So yeah, it's
just right. No matter what it is you do, there's
(33:46):
always some way you could change it.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
So you got it exactly.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
And I definitely wanted to give people the experience I
had as a kid as a listener. I felt like
I enjoyed albums a lot more, you know, in my
younger years because there was more put into it, like
an experience, you know, And I wanted people to have
more than.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Just a us listening and experience.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
I wanted it to take you places and think, for
you to think about your life, for you to think
about your choices, for you to think about who you are.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Who you want to be.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
That's what this albums about and I feel like it's
it's definitely I've been connecting that way man, and I'm grateful.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
For that, you know, yeah, man, and me as a
listener is grateful too, because you could speak on this too.
I mean, nowadays it's all about just put stuff out
and there's really no I don't want to say it,
like it's not really about an album, it's more about
a song, or I'm putting this out. I'm putting out.
I just releasing stuff, you know, oversaturated. And I think
to craft an album and have like a cohesive feeling
(34:41):
from start to finish everything that takes something. Man, there's
something to that for sure.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
It's I feel like what it takes authenticity in my opinion,
you know, I think people are afraid to be authentic
and if they even even if they are, they're only
halfway authentic.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
They're not giving the full layout.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
Like hey, you know, yeah, I'm rich and I used
to be you know, poor, but how did you you know,
what was it like when you were poor?
Speaker 6 (35:05):
Right?
Speaker 1 (35:05):
And you know, it's like that's kind of.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
How I feel, you know, I feel like we got
to give people the full experience, man. You know, we
got to teach the younger generation the truth. You got
to give them truth. You know, you can't just glorify
the certain aspects of the life and don't tell them
what happens if things go wrong.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
You know, we got to give them the whole story,
you know, and.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Sometimes you can learn from other people and it could
save you from making a bad choice.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
You know.
Speaker 4 (35:32):
Man, that's definitely missing your music. You get a lot
of the shiny side, right, the glamours side, but you
don't get you know, the work part or what led
to that part a lot of times, or the in between.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
So yeah, man, that's that's a good more point. Yeah, man,
definitely want to bring up the way you guys flip
that Marvin sample spoiler. I mean, everybody knows who that is.
I mean, I'm not I'm not giving anything away here,
but the way like it led into a favorite episode
like that. It was like, got some Pete rock shit
the way like I heard it, I'm like, oh, okay,
wait wait, now that's the beat for the next song.
And this is crazy. How you guess what that was?
Speaker 2 (36:05):
It was insane because all right, so this is the
story with that record, right. I'm a big I'm a
huge I'm from New York, man, So I know what
I'm saying. I'm a big fan of my New York
comrades and artists that did it before me and during
and and you know, in up and coming.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
I support all my artists, man, you know what I'm saying.
As long as you're good, I'll support you.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
But one of my guys that I've always been just
very inspired by, and you know, I feel honored when
people compare me to him, is Max b You know
what I'm saying, Because I wasn't.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
It wasn't I never consciously wanted to have a melodic style.
I felt like I make the music that I like,
you know what I mean. So I you know, as
a kid, fifty cent was a.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Major influence in my earlier years, and he was probably
one of the first artists that I saw that was
that was comfortable being melodic and still kind of made
it like gangster, you.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Know what I mean at the same time, right, yeah,
and I.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
And I thought that was genius.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
I thought that was the perfect balance to what it
takes to be a complete artist, in my own opinion,
because you know, you have people who it's it just
makes it a little bit more digest in my opinion,
you know, the music is a bit more digestible. It's
not so harsh and hard on people who aren't fans
of the hard, gritty underground ship, you know what I'm saying.
So those people you will attract if you put that
little just add a little softness to it. You know,
(37:24):
I don't know, maybe he's a better word I could use,
but that's what's.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
Yeah, you know he's gonna come back here in that
man hard records are you talking about exactly?
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Man?
Speaker 2 (37:35):
But when you cod, when you really listen deeper, you
will see that language. You will see that I'm not
much different from who you are, your circumstances. But I
just you know, this is my way of saying, let
me you know, you know, let it be more digestible.
So basically I heard the Max V record and and
and it was.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
It was a classic.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
And here in New York City especially, and you know
a lot of us here in New York City, we
we love Max and we love the sound and the
way he used that he's he's brunt to the culture.
So while I was in the studio and our record
came together, I realized, right after we did the record.
During the mixing process, I was like, Yo, this sounds
just like that Max being simple. This is where Max
(38:13):
B got it from. This is where we actually realized. Yeah,
the light bulb came on thing and I was like,
holy shit. I said, you know, it would be really
cool and I mentioned it to Max. I said, let's
be very blatant and let people.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
The ones who know are gonna know. You know, but
even if you don't know, you're gonna enjoy this transition.
And that's kind of what that was.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
We just wanted to highlight to let people know whether
the original record was you know, this is where it
all started, even from Max B.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Max B got it from Marvin Gay, you know what
I'm saying. So here we are crazy man.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
So the backstory of that, see that just like a
little question I had was like, oh, I like how
you flipped it, and he gave me the whole backstory man,
and just it just brings that part of the album
to a whole different level. I think it's like right
in the middle too. So that's what I liked about
it kind of transitions album.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Yeah, it breaks the album right after that. I think
that's right when the album kind of goes into a
different kind of life. I'm on a darker space, you know.
Our album gets a little darker at that point.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
No doubt, no doubt. And to speak on that Marvin
Gaye song, I mean that song has that kind of
feel to it too. It kind of goes from like joyous,
but there's some dark feelings. Yeah, it's all. It's a
lot of method and vibe to it.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
So many technical yeah man, but we stitched this one
together for real meticulously.
Speaker 4 (39:23):
Yeah man, definitely. Man, you guys definitely did your thing
on this album. And uh, I love seeing the science
behind how these albums get crafted like that. And as
a fan, I geek out when I hear the stories
about well here's what we did and here's how it
came about, And you're like, ah shit, all right now
now I have a different every time I go back
and play it, I'm going to have that mindset of like,
now I know the backstory it is and hopefull people listening.
(39:43):
You guys do the same thing when you go seek
this album out, and we might as let people know
where they can find the album, you know, how they
can get in touch with you, follow you online and everything.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
Yeah, for sure. I'm ox Omney on Instagram underscore Omney.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
You can find your Instagram under there, and or you
should be able to find me on Facebook on the
same thing as well. Listen, man, I'm terrible with the
media stuff, guys. You know what I'm saying. Really really
one of those guys that I don't spend a lot
of time on multiple platforms. So honestly, you your best
bet is finding me on Instagram for sure. But on Facebook,
(40:20):
I'm under ox Don Twitter ox Original with two x's
o x X original on Twitter and yeah, I think
it's about it, man, Facebook, ox Don Twitter ox Original,
Instagram o x underscore on me.
Speaker 4 (40:33):
And they got to look up for this merger talking
about vinyl coming and CDs, right.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
Yeah, vinyls on the way. Uh see these tapes on
away merg on away once. Just just keeps stay tuned,
the man, Just just stay tunthed in with me, and
everything will be posted as we go along. You will
get the link for everything. You'll be able to purchase
or pre pre order and advance. Let's go, man.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
There you go follow them on Instagram and Facebook and
Twitter place like that. And when we put out this episode,
as we do with my episodes, I always put links,
you know, to follow the artists that they're listening to,
so you know, stay tuned. I'm on there a lot,
so I'll definitely keep people in tune. What he's doing.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
This is fire. This like for me, this is this
is the greatest feeling. Man. This is better the amount
of money.

Bubba enjoy the rest of your day. Man, thank you
you too.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
Man.
Speaker 4 (45:57):
Big salute to ox Omni for coming on the show
of fun. Talking with him, and it's crazy. The minute
he starts doing the references about you know, certain products,
there's sirens going off in the back. It's pretty crazy
how that. And I told him it's not that you
don't hear it there because we talked about it afterwards.
I was like, man, I can't do anything about taking
those sirens out. When he started talking, he's like, yeah, man,
(46:18):
it's crazy over here. As soon as I started talking
about that, the sirens are going off. So yeah, it's
pretty funny just the timing of that. I mean, I
personally live by, uh not right by, but down the
street from me, about a mile away, there's a firehouse,
and anytime there's like an accident or something over here,
I mean, it's just noise sirens. I'm surprised. See I
(46:41):
say that, watch one start driving by right now. I'm
surprised there's not more siren interference. And I record this
stuff because they're constantly going back and forth over here,
you know, Mount Prospect, you know a lot. It's grimy
over here, you know. But definitely want to give shout
out to Oxy Amity for that album No Prayers to
the Devil, and I did reference in We talked about
(47:01):
the cover where he and the Devil are playing chess,
and I had referenced Denzel wathingts. I wanted to make
sure I was making a good reference. I looked it up,
so that's from Training Day, That's what I thought it was.
And he's yelling at Jake this chess, not Checkers, like
he's yelling at him about you know, how the game
is done. If you've never seen Training Day, I mean
twenty twenty five, put it on your list. You should
(47:22):
have seen it already. It's one of Denzel Washington's best movies,
definitely by far. So just wanted to bring up that
scene and it made me think of another chess reference
from the Wire where d'angelo's teaching the two young hoppers
how to play chess because they're using chess to play
checkers and he's teaching them how it relates to where
they're at. You know how their life actually relates to
(47:45):
the pieces on the chess board. It's pretty cool. I'll
definitely recommend anybody you've never seen The Wire either, some
stuff for you to do. Start the new year, Go
watch the Wire, go watch Training Day, and later on
I'm gonna give you a franchise that you go watch
for free that you need to check out. But let's
get back into the music. Ox Omni's new album No
peris that doubles out right now. Let's play another track
from there. It's called Kitchen Counter. We talked about this
one in the interview. He talked about how he used
(48:06):
to play, you know, in the kitchen and make the
drum sounds and prepare for music that he was doing.
So this is that song right here featuring Roome Streets
ox Omni Kitchen Counter here on the Infinite Banter podcast.
Speaker 5 (48:18):
No.
Speaker 7 (48:18):
I wish somebody would to tell me this guard too much.
I wish somebody would have told me. I wish somebody
would to tell me this guard too much. I wish
somebody would to tell me this gud too much. Say
way I hated Kye, if you know too much? I
wish somebody would have tell me I wish somebody they would.
Speaker 6 (48:38):
To tell me that my miskitten counts home.
Speaker 7 (48:42):
They blamed me on the station it's got a love

Speaker 6 (48:59):
Y'all don't like me truthful, only beaking out profusely. You
that was trying to seduce me. Oh lord, but Ma,
Ma mis get to count your hope. They played me, y'o.
Speaker 7 (49:07):
Let's say with somebody it would have told me this
could hurt too much, say the way that you sit
on me, say way they tried to kill you with
you know too much.
Speaker 6 (49:16):
I wish somebody would have.
Speaker 7 (49:17):
Shown me I was somebody that wouldn't have told me
this could hurt too much. I was somebody that would
have told me I was somebody would have shown me
by Mama miskeet to counsel you.
Speaker 8 (49:31):
Are life showed me better than anybody ever told me.
The bottom in the top both so lonely. If you
love me, then it's deeper than the fuck. You gotta
be my homie. I'm the son and you my earth
(49:52):
king and queen. For what it's worth, resurrected God do
birth you feeling the way y'all feeling we destined that
making work. It's not in the fear me, even though
you know that love hurts painting temper of every game.
Speaker 6 (50:03):
You feel me going to get.
Speaker 8 (50:04):
Skirt and now live in your mind, red free and
in your heart permanently. We wanted to sing till eternity
twin flame if you ever left this guard burning me.
But I've been through the fire to the third degree.
I gave you things I wouldn't share. This like open
heart surgery. Hit it with the depth stoke. She's screaming out.
Speaker 6 (50:23):
Murdered me, mama, miskut to count. I hope they play
me yo.
Speaker 7 (50:32):
Let's say with somebody would have told me this could
hurt too much, Say the way that you used to
know me, Say way they tried to kill you, with
you know too much. I was somebody would have shown me.
I was somebody that wouldn't have told me this could
hurt too much. I was somebody that would have told me.
I was somebody that would have shown me by Mama
(50:54):
miskut to counsel.
Speaker 6 (50:58):
Why didn't you show me? Why don't you show me
the thing a man's most.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (51:09):
I can give you the kind of love, that sweet
kind of love, that special kind of love. Spatn't have
to show you these pressures.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
Why don't you show me your love spressures?
Speaker 9 (51:34):
John Wheed, England. You have better language, better action or activities.
No individual party is going on and they have better parties,
better social lab It's better relaxing, no fighting, no clount is.
It's more enjoyment, more enjoyment.
Speaker 1 (51:52):
Yo, it's your boy, or maybe I'm not your boy,
but it's expensive. You're rocking with my boy Mark. You
know what I'm saying. If answer you check them out,
it's hard for you to leave asshold.
Speaker 4 (52:04):
That is Kirk cosa Veto telling me it's time to go,
and that is exactly what I'm going to do. But
before get out of here, I want to mention a
couple of things real quick. And I've been teasing it
the whole show, so I might as well get to
it right. So on Pluto TV for those of you
who are not familiar. It's an app you could put
on your phone, you can put on your actual television
whatever iPad. It's a lot like two B TV, very
similar there. It's a free app. It has free movies
(52:26):
and TV shows, all that stuff, and occasionally they'll have
like an entire film franchise available for a certain amount
of time that you could watch. Don't remember if it
has commercials or not. I think it does, but anyway,
I was excited to see this because I think it's
like a nice little gift to us fans of this
franchise for the new year. So Pluto TV is going
to have most of the Friday the thirteenth franchise available
(52:50):
on its platform. If I was listening to this podcast
and I heard that, I'd be totally geeked. I am geeked.
But yeah, it's only the first eight, the ones that
were on paramoun for whatever reason. The other ones after that,
like Jason Goes to Hell and Jason Goes to Space,
those are not available because those are New Line Cinema movies,
and to be honest, who cares. You don't need to
(53:10):
watch those. The first eight are all you really care about.
That's all you need to watch. So why am I
saying this? Why am I excited for? I have the
DVD sets, like I mean, I can watch them anytime,
but there's just something cool about at anytime, if I
just want to watch some Camp murders, I can just
pick up my phone and just hit play. You know,
if I got like an hour and a half of
(53:30):
nothing to do, I could sit there and watch Jason's
mom with a sweater walking around, or Jason with a baghead,
or Jason wit a mask, or Jason in Manhattan. All
the things that you get to see in all these movies.
You get to do that on Pluto TV. So I
was kind of geeked to see that. I thought it
was pretty cool. Maybe you know some of you are like,
all right, cool man, I'll pass.
Speaker 1 (53:53):
Good for you.
Speaker 4 (53:54):
It's good for me though, so I'm happy to do that.
So sleute to all my Friday thirteenth fans out there.
I don't know how long they're available to check them
out before they pull them, you know. Of course they
don't have them on during Halloween when I wanted to
watch it. No, they're not there. But in January, yeah,
they're there for you. It's too cold to do anything,
stay in the house, watch people light a fire, roast
(54:15):
marshmallows and then oh, by the way, get taken out
one by one by some crazy dude or the mom
spending on which one you watch?
Speaker 1 (54:24):
All Right?
Speaker 4 (54:24):
That said, for me the Infinite Banter Podcast, I want
to give a big thanks to ox Omni for coming
on the show. Make sure you check out his new album,
No Prayers to the Devil. I already know the next
episode is going to have Tony Boy. He's been on
the show before, about three years ago he was on here,
so he's gonna come on to talk about his new
album Patients Pays. So I already got the next episode
figured out. It's already in the works, so stay tuned
(54:46):
for that episode coming up shortly after this one here.
And once again, it was just really hard for me
to do these episodes here that you know, the one
you're listening to, the one that's coming up, and even
a two hundredth episode because of all this stuff going
on with me personally. And I thank everybody for their
support and they're well wishes. Definitely definitely a tough time.
So this podcast for me, you know, I talk about
(55:09):
it with artists. I even talked about it with ox Omni.
I mean sometimes music for them is therapeutic, and me
doing this it does help me, you know, just to
kind of get some normalcy back after like in a
month or so of just dealing with a lot of
personal stuff and passings of two people that were in
my life. So again, this this episode goes out to
(55:31):
my dad, big comic book fan. He's on who got
me into comic books and all that. He's the one
who started that whole thing for me. So definitely definitely
gonna be tough going forward without him, obviously. So Infinite
Banter Podcast is a rapper episode two hundred and one.

All right, that's it for me. If I'm gonna go
watch Friday thirteenth, Part four, I haven't seen that one
in a while. That's a good one. You haven't seen
the final chapter, which is not the final chapter because
(56:16):
they made more of them, go check it out. But
once again thanks to ox Omni and thanks everybody for
the support for the tough time I've been going through
these last few weeks here, so thanks again for checking
in and until I do another one of these, I'm out.
Speaker 6 (56:31):
Hey, asshole, get.
Speaker 1 (56:32):
Off the road. Being on the Infinite Fana with my
man Mark has been a pleasure.
