En México existen 100 mil personas que han sufrido una amputación en alguna de sus extremidades inferiores a causa de este problema.
Un equipo del Centro de Biotecnología Genómica del IPN, liderado por la Investigadora Mariel Sáenz Santos, desarrolló una innovación que tiene el objetivo de detener a los microorganismos que generan las infecciones en las heridas y úlceras de los pacientes con diabetes antes de que sea demasiado tarde.
