Music, hello and
welcome to intentional,
spiritual living with Brian.
This is season three, EpisodeFive. Today, we're going to
cover some fun stuff. So I'mgonna go a little bit more in
depth on Smoky Quartz as far asbuilding our crystal toolkit,
and that is simply because I'm ahuge fan one of the crystals
that I use the most, and I can'twait to talk about it with you
(00:35):
in a previous episode in SeasonOne, I talked about using a
combination of smoky quartz andrainbow fluoride, and we're
going to expand upon the usagesof this lovely, lovely stone. In
part two, we're going to expandupon our Paranormal Activity
discussion from last week. Wekind of did a little bit of
(00:58):
discussion about my life andthings that have happened early
in my life, that are spiritualand paranormal and
unexplainable. And today, we'regoing to talk about all the
stuff that has happened at ourcrooked cottage Escape Rooms
building that we own at 112South Sandusky Street in
Delaware, Ohio. There's been allkinds of cool and creepy and
weird stuff that's happened overthere. And I know if you love
(01:19):
paranormal, you're going to loveto hear about these discussions.
And then finally, part three,we're gonna pull a three card
Tarot Spread, like we have donein previous episodes, and find
out what the universe and MotherEarth wants us to know for the
weeks ahead. So with no furtherado, we've got a lot to cover. I
am going to get started rightnow.
(01:56):
All right, let's get right intoit, friends, we are halfway
through season three. I can'tbelieve this is the halfway
point. Time has been flyinglately, as I know it has been
for all of you. It's been fungoing through and picking out
these crystals that I know andlove and keep in my toolkit. And
today is probably going to be inmy top two or three to talk
(02:18):
about during this season, andthat is Smoky Quartz. I'm
actually holding a large SmokyQuartz palm stone that is near
and dear to my heart that I'vehad forever, that is stupidly
clear from Brazil. You canactually read newspaper through
it. It's just a beautiful piece.
But I really want to talk aboutSmoky Quartz and why I love it
so much, and then I'll touch ona little bit
(02:41):
of a combination. I talked aboutit in a previous episode that I
will reference for you,and I will talk about a little
ritual you can do with it. Solet's get right to it. Why do I
love Smoky Quartz so much? Well,as we know Smoky Quartz so we
know that clear quartz is themaster crystal that amplifies
everything and holds everything.
(03:02):
It's where we start, and it'swhat we started with on this
podcast, all the way up throughdifferent types of quartzs,
natural Citrine, natural SmokyQuartz, Rose Quartz, and the
list goes on, Gara cell quartzis another good one from
Madagascar. But Smoky Quartzreally has a special place in my
(03:23):
heart. I think we need to talk alittle bit about how Smoky
Quartz is formed quickly. Thisis not a geology podcast,
obviously, but I like to knowthings, and I know you do too.
And so Smoky Quartz is quartz isa rule. Something interesting
about quartz, actually, tobefore I talk about the
radiation. That makes itan interesting factoid about the
(03:46):
mineral quartz. So clear quartz, there is no mining typically of
clear quartz to get clear quartzout of the earth. For the sake
of clear quartz. It's asecondary mineral, even though
it's a master crystal.
Metaphysically, people areusually cutting through layers
(04:07):
and layers of quartz to get tosomething else, whether it be
like a black Tourmaline that'shosted on there anything that's
hosted because a lot of thesesemi precious and precious
stones are surrounded by quartz.
The only quartz that I'm awareof that is mined simply for the
quartz is gears all quartz outof Madagascar. And gears all
quartz is an interesting onetoo. I should talk about that in
(04:28):
a future season. It's kind of aslightly pink. It's not like
Rose Quartz. It's kind of likethe lightest color, pink, with a
little bit of milky translucenceto it. Garrison quartz, and that
is mined out of Madagascar toget gara Sal quartz out of the
earth. But typically, when youmine, when you're getting quartz
and pulling it out of the earth,it's to get to something else.
So just something reallyinteresting for you to know. But
(04:49):
what is so special about SmokyQuartz? So a lot of these
minerals, you know, people oftenask, you know, are these
ethically sourced? And theanswer is, as best we can, you
know.
Um,it's a dangerous job to get this
stuff out of the earth. And alot of the material, the quartz
material, is surrounded withradiation and the Earth's crust.
And so that irradiation of thequartz is what brings about the
(05:12):
smoky color, because itmodifies, and I'm not a
scientist here, but it modifiesa molecular structure and allows
different wavelengths of lightto get in, which makes the Smoky
Quartz its color that it is. AndSmoky Quartz, depending on how
much radiation it's been aroundin heat in the earth,
(05:33):
determines the color of theSmoky Quartz. Smoky Quartz can
be the lightest gray all the wayto nearly opaque black, and
anything in between. I find themost valuable ones in my shop,
the most valuable specimens ofSmoky Quartz are actually kind
of the lighter colors that aregray that you can still see
through. And so that's a littlebit about Smoky Quartz and the
(05:54):
geology of it. But why do I loveit so much? Metaphysically So,
if we view radiation as anegative thing, it's a scary
thing. When we hear radiation,we think of nuclear bombs and
cancer treatments and all thosethings. It's not something we
really want to be around, right?
And so the Smoky Quartz isabsorbing that radiation to get
its color and changing thewavelengths of light to get its
(06:15):
color. And so it's an absorberof and a catalyst of negative,
negative energy, if you will, and its metaphysical usage is
simply to absorb, not nullifyand reflect back, but absorb the
negative energy, which is alittle different than the go to
protective stones of BlackTourmaline and black obsidian,
which nine out of 10 People whenyou talk about metaphysical
(06:40):
usage, somebody comes in thestore, they're looking for a
pile of Black Tourmaline to putin the corners of their house,
or black obsidian to fend offentities and protect and reflect
back, that type of thing, whichis wonderful, and I support all
that. But I what I love aboutsmokey is that I'm not followed
around by entities and chased byentities, and I'm not worried
(07:00):
about that as much, but negative energy I worry
about constantly. People caninflict it upon you. People can
wish it upon you. I'm not sayingit's Hexing, per se, but there
is a lot to be said for wishingill with another human being, if
you will. And that is whereSmoky Quartz shines over black
Tourmaline for certain intendeduses. And so let me explain a
(07:24):
little deeper. So if I wanted tokeep
an entity out of my house, forinstance, if I wanted to protect
my house and repel negativeenergy away so that it could
never get in here, I would useblack Tourmaline. I would put it
in the corners of a room, thattype of thing. And I will have a
(07:45):
section on Black Tourmaline, andit's very similar to black
obsidian, if not exactly thesame. Those are the two go tos
for repelling and protectingfrom bad if you will. And when I
say bad things getting in, SmokyQuartz is like a sponge. It's
like one of those air freshenersthat you can put in a room that
absorbs the odors. It doesn'tsmell like anything. It really
(08:08):
doesn't do anything. It justabsorbs it. And that's what
Smoky Quartz does. And so if youfeel like somebody is wishing
you ill will to the point whereit's starting to work for them,
you feel like you might havebeen hexed. You might have been
cursed if you believe in thattype of thing. Smoky Quartz is
your friend, because what itdoes it is absorbs that and
(08:28):
what's so powerful about theabsorption versus repelling it,
in my opinion, you're never not going to have
negativity around you're nevergoing to have ill will. You're
never not going to havenegativity around you. I
apologize. You're never notgoing to have ill will bestowed
upon you from another humanbeing. It's just how people are.
When people get ahead, whenpeople get something that
another person wants, that'swhen it starts. And some people
(08:51):
take it too far and they theywish ill on you. I've seen it
happen many times, and SmokyQuartz is a great way to deal
with that situation, becauseit's absorbing. Now you may ask
if it's absorbing all thisnegative energy. I'm holding a
piece right now that I've hadfor multiple decades in my hand.
If I'm to think that this palmstone, which is probably two
(09:14):
inches tall by two inches wideand maybe an inch in depth, if
I've had it for, let's say, 20years, what's keeping it, what's
keeping it cleansed, and allthat kind of thing. And we'll
get into that on another episodeof cleansing. I But it's going
to be a really quick section forme. So those are all kinds of
(09:36):
elaborate things people tell youknow, on the night of a full
moon, put it in your windowsill, if it's a if it doesn't
end in it, for instance, youcould soak it in water with some
natural salt, that type ofthing. You could set it near
Selenite. I don't really do anyof that. I do. I have a Selenite
charging plate that I will useto clear out things if I'm in a
hurry and I'm being lazy. Butreally, what I do is another
(09:56):
ritual after I've.
Gotten what I want, or from timeto time, and I will just ask the
universe to cleanse my piece ofSmoky Quartz of any negative to
negativity that it is absorbedfor my good use moving forward,
something like that. And we willhave an entire podcast section
on that. But it doesn't have tobe a ceremonial as you may read
(10:18):
about. So that's just a littlebackground on smoky course and
why it's such a powerful, powerful tool to have in your
toolkit. Because, simply put, you're always going to be
surrounded by negative peopleand negative energy, and there's
always going to be people thatwish ill of you. It cannot be
avoided, and sokeeping a piece with you,
(10:41):
especially in times when you'refeeling a psychic attack,
there's nothing better. Now Itold you that I was going to do
a ritual I want to talk aboutreal quick, another uh,
combination that I talked aboutin a previous episode of this
podcast, and that is thecombination of rainbow fluorite
and smoky quartz and brain fog.
(11:07):
If you head back to season twoof this podcast and listen to
episode two, I did a wholesection on clearing brain fog
with the combination of rainbowfluorite and Smoky Quartz, and
it's pretty cool stuff. It'ssomething that I continually use
in my life. Not everybodysuffers from brain fog the way I
do, but some days I just can'tget it together early enough in
(11:30):
the day. It always comes around, but like, I need to hit the
ground running at eight in themorning or something. And this
is a power combo. So season two, episode two, if you want to hear
all about that, but I havedesigned a really basic ritual
for just Smoky Quartz for thisepisode that I think you're
gonna love. And really all youneed is a quiet space one white
chime candle. We've talked aboutchime candles in the past, but
(11:52):
for anyone new, it's those threeto four inch tall, very skinny
spell candles, or chime candlesthat come in multiple colors,
and you want a white one forthis, and a holder for it, and
your personal piece of SmokyQuartz. And again, if you're
building your toolkit, we'restarting with the basics and
coming up through all 10episodes of this season, I
(12:13):
highly, highly recommend to getyourself your own personal piece
of Smoky Quartz that will bewith you for the rest of your
life. It's not just something touse for a short time. This is an
important, important crystal. Soonce you've gathered your two
materials, which are just SmokyQuartz and white candle, let's
get started. So first thingsfirst, you need us to get in
(12:33):
your quiet space. This is aritual to do just with yourself.
This wouldn't be a group ritual.
So find a time of day and aplace during the time of day
that you can be alone and justsit Indian style on the floor
and hold your Smoky Quartz.
And as you're holding the SmokyQuartz, imagine it absorbing all
(12:56):
the negativity that you'refeeling currently and the era
that you're living in that issurrounding you, and why I
pointed that out the era thatyou're living in. You know,
these things are fleeting, andthey change. And we might feel
attacked by our peers in a jobsetting for two weeks, and that
dissipates. But at the currenttime, you know, we we get this
is getting to know your crystaltoolkit and stuff, and so these
(13:17):
are things you're going to bevisiting. But right now, what
imagine it absorbing all of thenegativity that is surrounding
you.
And just do that for twominutes. If you have five
minutes, do it and and use yourthird eye, your intuition, your
entire chakra system, and justfeel all that negativity around
you, coming into the into yourSnooky courts, okay? And once
(13:39):
you've done that, then lightyour white candle.
Breathe and breathe deeply.
Imagine roots are growing fromyour feet,
and they're going all the waydown deep into the earth.
Now, as you're holding yourSmoky Quartz, you've got those
(14:01):
roots that are coming from yourfeet. You are right now
connected to the earth, andyou're holding your Smoky
Quartz. And we're trying toalleviate negative energy and
negativity that are surroundingus currently. And so I want you
to pull all that negativity inthat you're visualizing and
you're thinking about that'supsetting you into that smoky
quartz and pull it through yourarm, all the way down through
(14:23):
your torso, through your heartchakra, your root chakra, all
the way down through your feet, and send it back into Mother
Earth fast and furiously. Let itflow through you. Feel it.
Because this, if you don'tacknowledge this stuff, you
can't just swish it away. Sofeel that negativity. Feel it
enter into your Smoky Quartz, feel that energy come through
(14:44):
your body, that negativitythat's been plaguing you, and
shove it down into those roots, into the earth. Because what the
Earth does is neutralize that itdoesn't make any difference to
the earth. Negative energy tothe earth,
Mother Earth and Gaia, they cancompletely.
Completely neutralize this. AndI want you to say the following
mantra, after you have releasedall of that energy. And
(15:07):
sometimes, for me, that can take20 minutes, because I have a lot
of things going through my headthat are and I think that things
aren't plaguing me, but when Isit down and focus my energy and
intention on this, I find outthat I have a lot to release.
And so I want you to say thefollowing, I release all
negative energy to the earth. Irelease all stress. I am
grounded to Gaia and wellprotected. So mode it be. Let me
(15:29):
say that one more time, Irelease all negative energy to
the earth. I release all stress.
I am grounded to Gaia and wellprotected so mode it be,
and just meditate with yourcandle until it's done. Burning
a chime candle lasts between 20and 3040, minutes tops, and you
should be well into that now.
Once that's done, the ritual isdone, and you have cleansed
(15:53):
yourself and your life of thenegativity that's been plaguing
you, and you've done that withSmoky Quartz. It's a very, very
powerful practice, and I'm soexcited for each of, every one
of you to try it.
(16:20):
All right, let's talk more aboutparanormal. We had a discussion
last week, a lengthy discussionabout all the paranormal stuff
I've had in my life, in myyounger life, but I want to talk
about the current times andsomething that's been happening
a lot recently.
This is fun stuff for me, I loveparanormal studies, as we find
(16:43):
our niche in the craft. Youknow, I'm a 35 year I keep
saying 35 years because I don'twant to admit how old I am. It's
actually coming closer to 40years of tarot reading, and
that's kind of my specialty. Andcrystals, runes are not my
thing. I like them. I don't knowhow to read them. Well, that
type of thing and paranormalstuff has always been
(17:04):
fascinating, fascinating to me.
And recently it's just blown thedoor open in my life from some
things that have been happening.
And so I want to share them withyou guys, just for pondering and
fun campfire stories, if youwill. But I will tell you right
off the bat, come into the storeand talk to me. Come into the
store and talk to Lori. We'veboth experienced everything I'm
(17:24):
about to tell you here, and I'llexplain to you why Lori and I,
and my partner and I haveexperienced them so paranormal
activity. Soin September of 2019 we opened
ravens cauldron, as you know, and it was at 110 South Sandusky
street, and I mentioned 112South Sandusky Street. It's the
same building, two differentaddresses, two different front
entrances. And so we were thereup until this time of last year,
(17:47):
and then we moved to historicdowntown Delaware because we had
ran out of product space and ourlittle kooky Victorian house
that we were running out of andwe couldn't expand, and we had a
thriving three room escape roombusiness upstairs that we were
running. Because when I boughtthis building, we were running
ravens Calder downstairs, andthe upstairs was just sitting
there, and I that drives mecrazy. I wanted to use it. And
(18:10):
so I decided I wanted to buildescape rooms up there, because
I don't particularly like stripmall escape rooms. I mean,
there's some wonderful ones, butwhen they're sandwiched in
between a Chipotle and a GNC, itloses the vibe for me. And so we
have a authentic Victorian housewith a beautiful carved wood
(18:31):
bridal staircase and a storiedhistory. It's turned over. It's
been apartments, lots of peopleliving there and stuff,
and it's authentic. So enoughabout that. So I bought the
building. We were running theescape rooms upstairs, running
ravens cauldron downstairs. Thefirst week of August of last
year, we moved to downtownDelaware
in an effort to grow ourbusiness of Raven's cauldron,
(18:52):
but also to expand our escaperooms downstairs. We have now
opened another escape roomdownstairs. It's called Crabtree
Manor, death and greed. It's ahuge escape room with a bona
fide, real casket in it, verydifficult. Little kitchen area,
several rooms, really fun.
So why did I tell you all this, and why we talk about this
building? So this building, forlack of a better term, is
(19:15):
crazily haunted. And I meancrazily haunted. I'm taking a
drink of coffee. I apologize.
One quick second.
And when I say crazily haunted,I don't mean scary. I just mean
stuff happens all the time. Andso I had mentioned that my
employee, Lori, she's also oneof my really good friends. We go
over there. We love this stuff, and we have sat for hours at
(19:37):
night, at one in the morning, and all the rooms of this
building, and we know all aboutit, and so I want to just kind
of talk to you aboutthe things that have happened.
So here goes.
I mentioned that the buildinghas a storied past, and when I
say it has a storied past, ithas been so many different
businesses, and it has been cutup into apartments at.
(20:00):
One point when I actually rentedthe building. I rented the
building for a year before Ibought it, and I just had the
little half of the downstairsarea. And then there was a
computer repair companyupstairs. And then the back of
the building, where we have twodifferent escape rooms upstairs
and down was two apartments, very small apartments, but a
(20:20):
gentleman lives upstairs, and alady lived downstairs. This was
all when I when I rented theplace, and then I bought the
place and got those people outso that I could make it what I
wanted. But my point in tellingyou that when we were there,
it's been so many things.
There's been so much energy andso many human beings living
there. I mean, there was abackyard put in the back, and
people would have parties outthere. It's been insurance
agencies, a real estate agency,a hiring agency, and these are
(20:43):
just the things I know. I don'tknow what else it's been. I've
been to The Delaware HistoricalSociety. I've not been able to
find anything, but I'm stillworking on it. One really cool
thing that we found in thebuilding was an electric bill
for one of the apartmentsupstairs, and it was from 1972
we have it in a frame in theescape room, and it was for $7
for the month. Prettyinteresting stuff. So I was born
(21:04):
in 1972 so who knows what allthis If These Walls Could Talk
type of thing.
So what have we had happenthere? So all the while, while
we were running, ravens calledand we had little things happen.
And when I say little, I meanthings that got your attention,
but who knows what it would be.
One thing that sticks out wasBarbara Wagner, who is a dear
(21:30):
friend of mine, and is also avery talented psychic medium,
would come over and we alwayssaw a shadow figure running from
what was my Tarot room under abookshelf into my Tarot room,
that was one thing we wouldhear, a snake type hissing
sound. Lori and I several timesdownstairs, lights would flicker
and turn on and off, but nothingreally concrete. You know, the
(21:52):
stuff that's like you could Ialways look for paranormal stuff
as a way to explain somethingthat's misunderstood, and I
always try to look for thescientific explanation. And so
those were no big deal. But thenonce we started doing
construction on the escape roomupstairs, and what that entailed
was running 1000s of feet ofEthernet cable, putting new
(22:15):
ceiling tiles and putting newdoors and moving things around.
And when we started disturbingthe building, it looks nothing
like it did when we bought it,is when the fun started
happening. And so my contractorone time lost a tool belt that
had hammers and screwdrivers andeverything in it, and it was
(22:38):
really irritating to him, andcome to find out, it was above a
ceiling tile in a room that hewasn't working in that started,
lights would be turned on andoff, computers would be
rebooting all kinds of again, small stuff, until recently. So
let me fast forward and cut tothe chase on what's been
(23:00):
happening recently. So I'vetalked about this in another
episode this season, but Loriand I do a lot of witchy things
over there. I do major, hugecrystal grids. I charge my
skulls. One of my specialties iscrystal skulls.
If you join my email list, youcan read all about it. I'm a
huge believer in the power of acrystal skull. I believe that it
is a vehicle of a human being'sessence, if you will, a human
(23:24):
being's mind. The most importantthing you know, we're not known
for our livers, we're not knownfor our stomachs, We're known
for our personalities, andthat's all contained in your
head. And so when you have acrystal skull, that's
representative of that, andthey're very, very powerful, and
I am very razor focused oncharging them with particular
energies. And so we do some ofthese over at the escape room.
(23:44):
We're building a escape roomright now called Joyce's
dollhouse, but it will not bedone until probably early next
year. And so we use the backroom at the dollhouse to do this
massive crystal grids withhundreds of crystals and very
nice crystal skulls, and wehonor the gods and goddesses.
Usually, we will start somethingwith on the south,
(24:09):
and that is a Earth, thegods and goddesses of the earth
based south, and then we move tothe west, and that's water, and
we take that water to nourishthe earth. And then we move to
the north, and that's the godsand goddesses of fire, and we
use that fire to warm the water,to nourish the earth. And
finally, of the East, it's thegods and goddesses of air, and
(24:30):
that air, oxygen gives us oxygenand able to to breathe life into
that fire, to keep it going, towarm the water, to nourish the
earth, type of thing. So I'mvery much an Elementalist. When
it comes to witchcraft, I likedirections and elements, and so
we do that, amongst a lot ofother things that we call these
gods and goddesses, and to buildup energy into these skulls and
(24:52):
these crystals to manifestwhatever we're trying to
manifest. So I'll leave it atthat. And so these.
Things that I'm talking abouthere, they happen at usually 10
o'clock at night, and they gofrom 10 to 12, and we will walk
in a particular circle andcharge these crystals, and this
is when the fun happens. So thefirst thing I want to tell you
(25:13):
about happened about two monthsago, lawyer and I were doing
that said ritual, and I was, Iwas on the north the fire, and I
was charging a Sardonyx skull.
Sardonyx is a banded type ofCarnelian with a deeper red and
more banding in it. It's allabout vitality and fire and
getting things done. And so Imight have said something like,
(25:34):
gods and goddesses of the of theNorth invoke passion into this
skull, ultimately to invokepassion into me so I can grow X,
Y and Z, something to thateffect. And I was in the middle
of that statement. Now let meback up a little bit to get to
this room I'm talking about, youhave to go through three doors.
You go through one regular doorand then you go through an old,
(25:55):
creaky Victorian door that'sbeen there for over 125 years.
Go through a little room andthen go through another creaky
Victorian door. All those doorswere sealed shut. When we go in
these rooms, we locked theenergy in the room to charge
these skulls, and so those doorswere sealed shut, pulled they
cannot be they're not loosedoors. It can just open on their
own. So again, I was at the godsand goddesses of the North
(26:15):
charging my Sardonyx. I wassaying my mantra, and in the
middle of it, the door waskicked in.
Now, friends, I don't get scaredof much. I'm not scared of
anyone or thing. Really, Iscreamed so loud. Laurie
screamed so loud. We thought wewere done. Then we started
(26:36):
thinking about it, laughing atthe Santa. We're in the in, I
should mention to you, whenwe're in this room, and we're
doing this stuff, it is sensorydeprivation. There is no light
whatsoever. The windows in theentire escape room building are
boarded up from the inside withplywood and painted black
because you need that. You needno you need complete isolation
when you're in an escape roomand complete escapism. And so
(26:58):
that's already been done in thisroom, and so it was so black.
Imagine being in a room withyour eyes closed as tightly as
you can that's as much as wecould see. Imagine standing
there and then having a doorkicked open, and not only
friends was the door kickedopen,
but you could feel the presenceof somebody in the room. And
that's when we were screaming. Ithink I screamed twice, and Lori
screamed twice, and it was sofrightening.
(27:22):
We composed ourself after thescream. Nobody was grabbing us,
nobody was throwing anything. Sowe were we couldn't see
anything. But we're like, well, there's no one in here,
obviously.
And we felt our way through theroom to get out. The door was
never open. We opened the doorto that room, the next door. I'm
like, well, maybe it was thenext door. Long story short,
none of the doors were jarred oropen from what they were when we
(27:45):
initially went in there. So thatwas, that was one of the
scariest, scariest paranormalthings I've ever, ever had
happen to me. It was so scarythat we weren't able to finish
our ritual right away. We wentout to the lobby, the escape
room, and we turned on yachtrock music. I called Dan, my
partner, and we were all justtalking about I needed to calm
(28:06):
down. It took us, like, a halfhour before we can compose
ourselves. So that's number one.
Number two, there are clocks inthis escape room complex. We
have a cat clock that's kind ofcreepy. We have an old antique
Victorian clock above afireplace, and we have another
(28:26):
Victorian clock that moves backand forth with the pendulum in
the back of the kitchenmultiple times. All these clocks
are set to a particular time.
I'm not going to say it in caseany of you come to our escape
room, and I don't want to giveanything away, but they're set
to a particular time so that youhave to solve these puzzles, and
they've been moved and changedmultiple times,
(28:46):
and now for the most concreteevidence of a paranormal
sighting I've ever had, and Iinvite any of you that live in
the area, if you want to seethis video, come into
ravenscauld and I can show it toyou. I am going to post it on
the crooked cottage siteeventually and talk about The
Haunting of this building. ButKatie, our escape room manager,
(29:10):
this would have been on, it'slike two weeks ago. I can get
you the exact date I have it onmy phone called me so we have a
we have an escape room calledthe house in the woods. It was
our original first escape roomupstairs. It's the one that is
so fun. It is so creepy anddark, and we really themed it
multiple rooms. So there's anoutside section of this room, so
(29:33):
you go into several rooms upfront, and then you actually
have to work your way to getoutside, to get some things, to
get back inside, to solve, tosolve your way out of there,
excuse me, and there are camerasin in every single room of every
escape room, and so we canconstantly look at them and see
what's going on. And so Katietexted me this day she was, she
(29:53):
was like, an hour and a halfbefore letting someone into the
house in the woods, and she getsthere early, and was getting the
Mayan temple ready for someoneas well.
And told me to look at thecameras and the house in the
woods outside. And so I did,and oh my god, there was this
apparition. And I'm embarrassedto tell you what it looks like.
It kind of looks like a bananaor a male appendage, for lack of
a better term, but it's, it's,that's what, that's what it
(30:14):
looks like. It's not defined atthe bottom at all. It's kind of
rigid at the bottom. But justthink like a like a banana,
and it is moving up the wall, over to the right and back down.
And this went on for a solid twohours, and it's not moving in
the same pattern either. It'smoving erratically. Now again,
(30:35):
let me re refresh your memory onthis room. There is no light to
be had in this room. There is nowindow in this room. There is an
original window in this room. Ithas been boarded over years ago
from the inside and painted flatblack. There is no door with a
window. There is no lightingeffects in this room. There is
an outhouse in this room thathas a moon cut out of it, that
(30:56):
has a pink and orange and redlight in it that is facing the
opposite way from thisapparition was Katie went into
the room after I saw this, Imight go in there before, before
the people start this tour ofthe house in the woods and tell
me if you can see this. She sawnothing. I saw when she opened
the door on camera, I sawnothing. So I called Chuck.
(31:18):
Chuck is my IT guru, one of mybest friends, and you're in good
hands with Chuck when you needanything it there's so much
technology. A cricket cat isescape rooms. We have a whole
server rack upstairs, ubiquityboxes, everything going on. And
I and he looked at it and wasjust astonished as well, and
recorded the whole thing. So wehave the recording of it for at
least six minutes of it. Thereis friends, there is no
(31:41):
scientific explanation of thisone. And I told you at the
beginning of the story, like, Ireally like to disprove this
stuff. I really like to be like,Okay, well, here's what that
really was. There is nothing.
There is no light source in herefor that to happen. There's no
window. There is no fancyspecial lighting. It's a dark
room. It's got kind ofastroturf. It's supposed to be
(32:04):
outside. There's an outhousethat we built into there, and a
fuse box puzzle, that's it. Anda basement like we built cellar
doors into it that looks likeyou're going into a cellar door
basement to get the final keyout of there. That's it. There's
no special lighting, no nothing.
There is an impossible way.
There is no possible way. Ishould say that that light could
(32:27):
move in the erratic way and itjust again, think about a
banana, and it's moving allaround. Well, what's interesting
too, was that I said, Well, certainly, if this is an
apparition, then it will likelyget scared away when the house,
in the woods, people start goingthrough, and so when they came
through, it was still happening.
And I'm watching the camerafuriously. I was running the
Marysville store this particularday, so I couldn't get there,
(32:48):
and I'm bummed about that, or Iwould have been there. And the
people finally got to theoutside, and you could see it
shining through them.
It was like on this man's leg.
There's two stairs that go downto this outside area, and he was
and that's where it was. Thisapparition was appearing. Was up
and down the wall and on thosestairs. And it was on the human
beings that were in there too.
(33:09):
And it was moving on them, youcould see it. And then after
about five minutes of them beingin there, it just instantly
disappeared, and we have notseen it since. So there is your
story of some of the legend ofcrooked cottage escape rooms.
It's been such a wild ride, andit puts a pep in my step. I
really have loved paranormalstuff all my life and but I've
(33:30):
always disproved it. I've spentthree different nights at the
Mansfield Ohio reformatory whereShawshank Redemption was based
upon and some of it was filmed, and allegedly, that place is
really haunted, and all thesethings and all this
documentation, friends, I havenever felt a thing there I have
(33:51):
been. I've spent the night inthat prison three different
times with the electric off. Andyou walk around with your
friends, and you meet up forpizza at midnight. You stay all
night, and you can bring allthis fancy equipment and all
this stuff I've never, ever felta thing there. And why do I
believe that is this is justnow. I'm going to drift off into
my opinion, and then I'll wrapthis up so we can get on to our
(34:11):
Tarot. But, um, when it comes toparanormal and hauntings, I am
fully of the opinion. You know, everybody says, you know, oh,
the same the sanatorium as anasylum. It's haunted. The
prison's haunted hospital. Idon't find that to be true. Why
would anybody want to haunt ahospital? Nobody wants to be
there. Why would somebody wantto haunt a prison and linger
(34:32):
around there? They don't want tobe there. But I can get on board
with why somebody wouldn't wantto leave someplace that they
loved, and so the crookedcottage escape room has been
many residentialhouses over over many years.
It's been many businesses, andwho knows, but there's some sort
of energy and some sort ofhaunting there, and someone
loves the place. Something elseinteresting about that building
(34:56):
and why it might be comingaround right now is.
It was a very nondescriptbuilding. So when I bought the
building, it was very light graysided. You could tell someone
that lived in Delaware for 30years where it was, and unless
you told them it was right nextto Papa John's and Donatos, they
wouldn't know, because it justkind of blended into the
woodwork. Well, we've had itresided into a dark navy blue. I
(35:18):
mean, I have gutted the entireinside. It's been re plumbed,
rewired. It's all new on theinside, not all new. We kept all
the original wooden stuff, butwe have, we have brought it back
to life. It is not disregarded.
It is beautiful inside. Whenpeople come in there, they're
always shocked because it'sreally on the outside, it's just
a normal looking old house. Whenyou get inside, it's pretty
cool. And so I think my opinionof hauntings is that when
(35:41):
somebody shows something love, like a building and stuff, they
do have energy in them, and itdoes sort of happen, and I think
that's exactly why this buildingis being haunted. So there's
your ghost story of the day.
There's your paranormal story ofthe day. If any of you are local
and listening to this, comevisit the escape rooms and see
what you can find. It is ourfullest intention. Now that we
(36:03):
have this apparition, and wehave proof of it and all these
things happening, we are goingto do paranormal investigations
where people can come. We'rekind of going to do it like at
nine o'clock at night, and youcan stay till as late as, like
three in the morning, and we'llprovide pizza and groups of 10
or so. It's a 2000 square footbuilding with multiple rooms and
(36:24):
stuff, and the hauntings havehappened anywhere and I should
everywhere in the building. It'snot just one place. And I also
should tell you, I mentionedBarbara Wagner the other day.
She's our she's a retiredpsychic medium. She used to do
all our psychic mediumshipteachings, trainings and
readings in our store. She'sjust retired, but she'll still
come out of the woodwork for herfriends. And so I had her come
over there the other day, andshe laid in that room, and she
(36:47):
was aghast with the energy. Imean, she said the floor is
vibrating, and she said my momwas watching and kind of
laughing that we were messingwith ghosts and stuff, and she
felt it all. And we're stillinvestigating as to what it is
and how we can see more. So staytuned for that. I will have an
update if we have any othermajor occurrences. But it's been
(37:08):
a wild, wild ride, and Iencourage you to come visit us.
And if you're into theparanormal, keep an eye out on
our stuff. You are on our on ourstuff. Listen to me on our
socials, on Instagram, Tiktokand Facebook. And if you see us
announce a paranormalinvestigation. Come do it,
because you won't bedisappointed. It's a very, very
cool and active building. Allright, friends coming up, we'll
(37:28):
see what Tarot has to tell usfor the week ahead. You
all right, let's get right on toit, since I was pretty long
(37:51):
winded in our discussion ofparanormal, so let's talk Tarot.
I just shuffled my cards. I'mpulling them right now.
We got the death card, the threeof swords and the nine of cups.
Death, three of swords and Nineof Cups. What does the universe
want us to know? This is aactually, a cool reading. I will
(38:15):
for any newbies to tarot here,I'll quickly talk about the
death card.
Again, I've been reading Tarafor 40 years now, and that's one
of the feared cards, even thoughthere's absolutely nothing to
fear with death, most of usknow. But death card is simply
aboutchange, ushering in change. And
it scares people simply becauseit's kind of a scary looking
(38:37):
card, but it really is atransformation and ending in a
new beginning, and that youcombine, that you combine, if
you could make math out ofwords, transformation plus
endings plus new beginningsequals change and death. It's
about a necessary change, aninevitable change, and that's
where the scary part comes, because some people, we are
(38:59):
hardwired as humans to resistchange of all kinds, and so we
have the three of swords.
And that's all about heartache, sorrow, emotional pain,
but it's coming from our head.
It's the suit of swords. So it'srepresented by air, and it has
to do with active thought. Andso it's not always real. It's
(39:20):
just how we feel, if you will.
And the nine of cups, otherwiseknown in the industry as the
quote, unquote wish card, haseverything to do with being
satisfied, emotionalfulfillment, contentment, your
deepest desires are beingrealized. So when we combine all
these three things, what doesthat mean?
(39:43):
So really, what it means is,it's a journey from sorrow to
joy, and the pain of letting gois absolutely necessary to
achieve our deepest desires. Sowhat do I mean by that? So have
you ever really you've been onone path?
That. Let's think of a goodexample. If I was okay, there's
(40:04):
a person sitting in front of me,and I pulled this three card
reading for them, and it's acollege student that's been
studying accounting for twoyears. They're two years in to
their four year degree, and while they like accounting,
they've started to questionwhether or not that's really
what they want to do, and thistarot card comes up. And so what
(40:24):
does that mean? Well, it's thepain of letting go, like we just
said, a journey from sorrow tojoy. So you've put in money,
effort, energy for two years, into studying accounting, to
build your life in front of youand your career, only to turn
out that that's really not whatyou want to do, and you've loved
accounting since you were infourth grade, and you took a
(40:46):
little class in grade school, and now you're resistant to
change. You're heartbroken notonly because you're not
heartbroken because you knowyou're leaving accounting,
you're heartbroken becauseyou're it's change, and
we don't deal well with that.
But as it comes in, you've beenstudying this accounting stuff,
and you've come to find out thattechnology and computer science
(41:08):
and that type of thing is moreinteresting to you. And so as a
result, you want to switchtracks, and so you're going to
lose a little bit of yourforward momentum, because you've
taken all some of your majorclasses now, and you have to
toss them away to take new ones.
So it's going to put you you'rebehind the eight ball of
graduation, but it's yourdeepest desire, and it's going
(41:29):
to bring a smile to your face.
Simple and easy, that's what theuniverse wants us to know. So
for the week ahead, friends, ifthere's something that you've
been doing and you feel likeyou've lost you've lost your
you've lost your connection toit, but you just keep doing it
and going through the motions.
Honor that energy, honor thatthink about it and think about
(41:53):
making this necessary change toget where you want to be. If
I'll say it 100 times throughthis entire podcast, season
three, season two, season oneand future seasons, is that
change is inevitable, but we arehardwired as humans to resist it
as best we can. That's why thetower card, which is a little
(42:13):
bit more scary change and thedeath card, scare us. Because
it's not that they're scary asmuch as we fear change as
humans, and sometimes thatchange fuels us to tick on
something that you could neverimagine and really, really,
really, truly be the bestversion of ourselves. So divert
(42:34):
that path, if it's necessary.
Think about it this week, takeinventory and make adjustments.
That's all for Tarot this week.
(42:59):
Thank each of you for tuning inthis week. It's been a really,
really fun episode. I reallyadore talking about paranormal
stuff, as you could tell, because I didn't shut up. And I
also really, really lovedtalking about Smoky Quartz this
week, and I really encourageeach of you to try that Smoky
Quartz ritual. And if you don'thave a piece of Smoky Quartz, I
(43:22):
start building your toolkitbecause I just done wonders for
my life. I really cannot stressthat loudly enough. And of
course, I love doing tarot andjust summary, real quick on the
week ahead. Just keep an eye onyour life. Keep an eye on
something that you've beenfollowing because you used to
love it, and maybe you don'tanymore, but you continue to do
it, thinking it's going tochange. Maybe it's time to
(43:44):
change paths. All right, friends, next week will be
episode six, and I look forwardto speaking with each of you
then, until Then, be the bestversion of yourself. Blessed be
you.
