(00:03):
OK, welcome to Into the channel podcast premiere about ones
football. I'm rehost Dino de suspicious
and as always, I'm joined by my Co host Mr. Grant Angle.
What's up, man? Buddy, I'm feeling fantastic.
It is the most wonderful time ofthe year.
I'm not talking about the holiday season, what about the

(00:23):
UEFA Women's Champions League? I mean, we're not all the way,
all the way there yet, but we got some big matches coming up
that I think you and I need to discuss expeditiously.
Let's go, but give me a second. Yep, the oven's preheating,
we're getting ready, some balls are getting kicked around,
there's some stretching happening.

(00:44):
We're doing some research, we'vegot some takes ruminating.
We're not going to get into the full blown Champions League
preview. Obviously 99 teams are playing
for a spot in not the group stage, but whatever replace the
group stage, this weird round Robin thing that they've got
going on, which now will will include eighteen teams.
So nine teams are in and nine teams are going to battle it

(01:05):
out. First leg coming up here on
Thursday, September 11th, secondleg next Thursday, September
18th. And there is one team in
particular, my good man, that I want to talk to you about, and
that is. Goddamn.
Our beloved who are we talking about?
Let them know. You're goddamn right it's SK
Bron from beautiful Bergen, Norway.

(01:26):
I can't wait to discuss this. I'm so excited.
I'm actually I'm warm in this hoodie.
Can you just give me like one second here?
Yeah, no doubt. All right, my apologies there.
So now I'm ready. Let's discuss.
Let's discuss the UEFA Women's Champions League in the mighty

(01:48):
SK Bron. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
That is incredibly sharp. What a kid.
Appreciate that. Unbelievable.
You are so ready. I'm sure as everybody knows
watching this broadcast, this isthe 2009, 2010 away kit for SK
Braun. Now the men's side.
Yes, it turns out men do play football as well, but it's able

(02:09):
to pluck this baby off the off the old Internet.
Shout out to Eric Huzel. Klep.
Who's Klepp? Pardon me, Obviously, I'm a
lifelong bronze fan. Yeah.
Shout out to the Who's 20. Shout out to the Who's 25 goals
in two seasons, 2009, 2010. Let's go.
Yeah, had had to be done. Unbelievable, unbelievable shout

(02:30):
out to you. Very bummed I didn't.
I didn't wear my jersey, but I feel like I've gotten I've
gotten some reps out of it, you know, so I'm going to save it.
I'm going to save it. You know, we know that bronze
tournament. It's got some real legs to it.
So there's no rush. I don't need to kind of, you
know, as my mom says, haste makes waste.
We're going to leave, leave thatbaby in in the closet for one of
for one of the big matches. This is just, I don't know what

(02:52):
was a sparring session a little warm up.
Who who, who does our beloved SKBron have on the docket?
Well, it'll. Be taken on Manchester United.
But this is not a Manchester United podcast.
This is all about SK Bron. Let's go, you know.
Made their way, making their wayinto this third qualifying
round, defeating Inter Milan 21-A Valiant come from behind

(03:15):
victory, gave up an early goal almost immediately, got it back,
then gets the winner later on. You know what, if there's one
thing that we like about our pals in Norway, that we like
about SK Bron as a whole. Heart of a lion?
Absolutely. I mean, I think that intra Milan
squad, I'm kind of pulling it uphere because they've got a real
squad. When I was looking at who they

(03:36):
trotted out there, Tessa Wooler,Lena Mcgool.
Tessa Wooler didn't play in thatin that match against Braun, but
Olivia Skoo played for Rosengard, Bruner Sturtier in
goal, Villemsdoltier, who scoredagainst the US, you know, for
Iceland, she's the one that put Inter up.
And let's not gloss over that. This play, this game was played
in Milan on the road. Bron had to go into their house

(03:58):
and come from behind. They get it done.
Zomer's scores in the 13th and then the 56th minute.
One of the patron Saints of the End of the Channel podcast,
Senior Gapsa. You got damn right.
What can't she do? Power, finesse, speed, grace,
every everything that you want in a player.
Obviously you know for for. I'm going to guess most of the

(04:20):
people watching this who who have tuned in specifically for
this episode, you've probably been rocking with us for a
little while. You may even be located in
Bergen, Norway itself. So obviously we love and
appreciate all you guys. But for anybody else who's just
tuning in, like wait a minute, what's happening here?
These two American guys started really enjoying SK Bron in the
202324 Champions League when they just came out and were

(04:45):
super spicy in in a group against Lyon and like we started
to really follow them even before they played Leon.
Then they played Leon in Bergen, get a draw out of it in like an
an incredible match. Get it.
I think it was Galpstead who gotthe equalizer in that match.
And so we've been fans ever since.
So, so that's why all this is happening for anybody who might

(05:05):
be not clued into that just. Yeah, I wanted to talk a little
bit about that Sidney Gobsett goal, just because you mentioned
it. Tremendous power to her game and
the touch that she gets on that one to like, it was like the
power and the finesse in one play because she kind of like
chests it down in traffic. Super duper soft touch.

(05:26):
And then she whips around super violently just just like cracks
into the net. I was like, that's senior
Gobsett right there. That's what I want to see as we
go on into this tournament. She's got eleven goals this year
in top Syrian, leading our beloved SK Bron and I want to
call it one one other player from Scotland, Lauren Davidson,
who scored against Braga 1, you know, in A1 no win.

(05:48):
And that's basically how Braun got here.
They get the win versus Inter, the win versus Braga.
Lauren Davidson also leads SK Braun and assists with eight.
Well, she Co leads senior Gobset.
I mean, what, what can't she do?Also 8 assists for senior
Gobset. So I I, I don't know, man, I'm
just pumped. I don't know, like my my mind's
in a million different places. I can't believe we're here

(06:08):
already. Just a couple days.
Well now we're about a day and ahalf away from from football
kicking off more properly. With this match specifically, is
there anything you're going to be looking for?
I want to be looking for Lauren Davidson because she has a knack
for scoring big goals. She scored a stoppage time goal
versus Rangers on the final day of the 2223 Scottish woman's

(06:30):
Premier League season to clinch the title for her Glasgow City
squad. I, I screwed up a squad and I
can't do. But yeah, I want to, you know, I
want to see this this team get out and run.
Obviously we have a hard time watching full top Syrian matches
over here. So, you know, we're piercing
these together with highlights. I think it's worth pointing out

(06:52):
they are in a top Syrian league title race versus our old pals
Valarenga, who were in last year's Champions League.
Last season in the 2024 Top Syrian, Braun went zero wins, 0
draws, 3 losses versus Valarengain in league play.
They play in that league. They play each other three times

(07:12):
and they had a -5 goal differential already, though
this year as they sit atop the table, they're sitting at two
wins, 0 draws, 0 losses verse Ball Loringa with a + 4 goal
differential. They can get out and run.
They look maybe a wee bit vulnerable on defense at times,
but who cares about that? Because we're in this.
We're in the business of scoringgoals.

(07:33):
That's what we're here to do. Yes, I'm, I'm with that.
And I think I mean, defensively it's going to be interesting
because Manchester United, Elizabeth Turlin on that side, I
mean, she's cooking. If you look at the 2 Champions
League qualifying matches and the opener in WSO, she's got
five goals in those three matches.
Melvin Millar has had two goals to United's tally.

(07:55):
They look OK, but as mentioned, you know, they're probably going
to be up against it and the first tie is in Bergen.
So, I mean, you know, like, let's put off to the side how
Manchester United is going to get to Bergen and how they're
going to get back. You know what, that's something
to be discussed for sure. Whether they'll be flown or
maybe maybe there's there'll be some horse and carriages or

(08:17):
maybe they'll be forced to walk and go on some sort of long
ferry ride. We're not sure.
But either way, doesn't matter how they're going to get there.
They're going to be for a long along evening of of punishing
football, I think. And I think if they if they get
a little bit unlucky with the weather too, I mean, I think
it's still kind of a nice time of year, but you know that that
can always be a factor. How can Manchester United prep

(08:40):
themselves for the intensity andthe toughness?
Because I think even when you watch that Intermatch that that
that Brown defense was all like they were really intense.
I think they got they got inter off guard a little bit.
I think there there could be a little bit of that coming on
Thursday as well for Manchester United.
Yeah, I mean, you mentioned it, you never know with Manchester

(09:02):
United's bum ass ownership, theymight have to hang glide there.
So I mean that could be the toughness that they need to show
just to get to Bergen, Norway. I I do think it's probably
important to to point out a couple things.
First thing being that ElizabethTurland, Norwegian watched her

(09:22):
play in the EUR. One thing that we do know about
the Braun Battalion, the life force behind SK Braun, the one
of the the greatest, not one of what am I talking about, the
greatest supportive group in thehistory of planet Earth.
They're going to Boo the shit out of Elizabeth Turley every
time she gets the ball, and we love that about it.
There's nothing malicious about it.

(09:43):
They're just going to Boo a fellow Norwegian who's playing
on the other team. So there's that that United is
going to have to contend with. And, you know, I think people
are going to be surprised by this because I think people
know, you know, my allegiances in in the in the Women's Super
League, in the English Premier League, on the men's side of
football lie with Manchester City Football Club.
They're my first, my first footballing love.

(10:06):
So I think it's important for meto mention this.
Do you know what I like about this Manchester United side?
No. Not a God damn thing.
I cannot wait for SK Braun to, figuratively speaking, cave
their heads in and knock them out of the Champions League.

(10:28):
They don't deserve to be there. Braun deserves to be there.
I can't wait for it. I mean, I think that this is
this is where we've been leadingto.
We had to sit on the sidelines as Braun supporters last year,
you know, but as you know, the the into the channel Braun
Battalion honorary members that we are, that was that was a
tough 12 months. You know.
Didn't like it? Arsenal.
Arsenal winning the Champions League?

(10:49):
Soften the blow. Sure, that helps.
Helps for you, yes. Now we're back now.
Oh, and you're missing your Manchester City that you
mentioned. Not, not in this, in this
tournament, this competition. So now you're invited.
Your heart just must be pulsating.
Yeah, what what else do I got, buddy?
I mean, this is this is it for me.

(11:09):
So you know, when the draw happened, I, I woke up, I had an
alarm set for the draw, which happened at 3:00 AM Pacific Time
a few weeks back. I woke up to 55.
I watched the draw shake out. I think it was the Austrian team
was one of the first ones drawn.I was like, what would have
liked to play them? And then Braun draws draws

(11:31):
united. And there was a split second
where I was like, wow, isn't that funny how that works out?
And then it was just pure excitement because now I get to
live even more Manchester Unitedsuffering.
I love, I cannot wait. All right, man, anything else
you want to hit? Anything else we need to hit
before we get into this match up?
I know we're going to be back after the first leg with some

(11:52):
proper recaps. I'm not sure if we're going to,
you know, bang through all nine match ups, but we'll definitely
get into it. We're going to cover the teams
that we feel like have some legs.
You know, some of our old friends I think are are in the
mix here trying to work their way into that final 18.
So we will be back after like one, but anything else you want
to hit before we wrap up this SKBron Manchester United preview

(12:15):
I. Believe that was comprehensive
enough. Just as comprehensive as SK
Bron's victory will be over those sheisty Red Devils from
the wrong side of Manchester. You know, I mean, I wouldn't put
it past Bron to to just give them an ass whooping and then
put them on a plane back to Manchester themselves.
Yeah, we'll show your broke ass club owner how to actually

(12:36):
operate a real football club. Oh yeah, all right, man, I
cannot wait. All right, man, I think we did
it. There's been another mini
episode been to the channel. Thank you for watching,

Thank you for rocking with us again with this mini episode and
thank you to my coaches as well,Mr. Grant Engel for bringing.
I mean, I'm not sure if if you get labeled a fashion icon very
often, but I, I like what you'vedone here from a fashion
standpoint, You know, like just letting everybody know what this
show is about, what you're about, what we're about.
And for that, and for many otherreasons, I appreciate you bro.

(13:20):
Likewise, buddy, thank you for the kind words.
You know, I had to, you know, I scoured the Internet.
I knew Bron had black jerseys somewhere.
Even then, this is probably the most color I've worn in several
months. But you know what?
Sometimes you got to do it for the team.
You got to do it for the show. And that's why we appreciate all
of you for rocking with the show.
It's not possible without you. Please drop some more knowledge

(13:42):
in the comments. Help me with the pronunciations
of these names. I can't believe I butchered
Eric. Who's Klep in the opener of the
show? Please forgive me for that.
He's an assistant coach for men's bronze team.
Bronze men's team right now, as a matter of fact.
So who's Klep? The legend?
Shout out to him. Hopefully, hopefully that that
goal scoring mantra, that goal scoring energy continues on the

(14:02):
women's side and we will see youall next time.
Shout out to the who's.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
