Speaker 1 (01:16):
We run into our friends once a year down in Seaside.
It's good to uh see everybody and to get to
chat about the paranormal. If you haven't major plans, you
still have time. Certain things are going to sell out,
so if you're interested, you might as well just buy
it now. Oregon Ghost Conference dot com. All of those
links are up to the tickets we've got to all
sorts of events that are taking place March twenty first
(01:38):
through the twenty third in Seaside Oregon. We're here with
the conference director who just reminded me that there's only
two weeks until basically the opening of the Oregon Ghost Conference,
which means for me, I'm like, come on, hurry up
and get it done because I want to get there.
And for Rocky, he's like, no, I need like three
(01:59):
more weeks, right, Isn't that true, Rocky, Welcome to program.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
You can always you can always use an extra week
or two. But we get better at it every year.
So I think I'm ready to go. We had a
meeting today and we're getting all the last things wrapped up,
so it looks like it's gonna be a good event.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
This is Lucky number thirteen. Did you ever think you'd
make it this far?
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Well? I hoped we would, but you know, as you
have seen this event grow over the years, it is
kind of morphed into something that I really is bigger
that I ever thought would happened, and it connects with
so many people and just hearing some of the connections
in your last interview of the people that are going
(02:42):
to be there this for this event, it's it's amazing
the community that it's continued to build over the years,
and so I think that's one of the things that's
surprised me, surprise me most.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
And this is a community full of paranormal enthusiasts and
we have quite a few who I would consider to
be experts within the Pacific Northwest here.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Yeah, oh my gosh, we have Sarah Limos coming out.
And as your previous guests talked about Amanda who Amanda
Paulson who was in the involved in the movie that
we're going to be showing The Lady of the Lake
at the Times Theater, And Amanda was part of that movie,
(03:29):
which is a movie about a haunted lake essentially Lake
Crescent and where there's a murder mystery associated with it.
And so I'm kind of excited to see that as well.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Can you tell us what that is? Is that based
on a real true haunting?
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yes, yes, yes, so it's a it's I won't go
into the you know, spoil it, but there was a
body that washed up basically floated to the surface in
the summer of nineteen four and there's been experiences and
people having experiences in and around the lake, and so
this movie kind of covers some of that and goes
(04:10):
into the crime and a little bit more information of
some of that story.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
This is an actual movie, not like a documentary.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
It's it's a documentary.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Oh, it is a documentary. Okay, all right, fantasty all right.
And so tickets for that and for all the other
events are just up at Oregon Ghost Conference cause folks
want to check out the schedule while we're talking here
on This event takes place in Seaside at a venue
that has a little bit of a haunted history of
its own, right.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, it's kind of surprising we decided to move, you know,
or in the city is where the Ghost Conference started.
When we moved it to Seaside, we're kind of wondering,
you know, is Seaside a place for this? Is there
enough haunted places? We got lots of stories actually from
the convention Center with experiences that people had in working
at the convention Center. But since the remodel of the
(05:02):
convention center. Some of those areas aren't accessible. We're not
hearing so many stories in the building itself, but there
is stories there. But surrounding all of the East Side,
as you know, some amazing haunted places like the Bridge,
Tender Starring Night, the Chillamook Lighthouse, and we talk about,
(05:22):
you know, a lot of the businesses on Broadway and
wrap in a lot of the stories of shipwrecks and
some of the other folklore surrounding that area, and some
of the tours and talks.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
And lots of opportunities to catch some of that history.
I can attest Rocky does a great job of explaining
the history at these locations and doesn't do it with
notes or a PowerPoint presentation that he's clicking through. Definitely
knows his stuff. And you've got a new event that
you're doing actually at the conference this year yourself.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, I'm going to actually, you know, since the Ghost
Conference kind of started in organ City, I wanted to
talk about some of my experiences that got me into
the paranormal and some of the mysteries that I've solved.
As you know, when we talk about ghost stories, they're
based on a lot of folklore and mix of history,
and over the years you can actually kind of solve
(06:19):
some of those mysteries and say, actually, yes, connect a
person to the spirit that is being witnessed by people.
So that's almost impossible I talk about to do if
you know, when people go on a ghost to where
they want to know who is this person and you
shake the history of an entire town and try to
(06:40):
narrow that down and actually solve who that person is
and connect it. It's pretty time consuming, and it can
be done. And I've managed to put, you know, some
of those mysteries to rest a little bit in organ City.
There's still plenty mysteries that I'm trying to solve.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Okay, tell us about your main events before we run
out of time.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yeah, So Sarah Lomos is going to be doing Psychic
Gallery reading on Saturday night. That's our big event. The
movie itself that we just spoke about, Lady of the
Lake at the Times Theater. That's going to be Friday
night at ten o'clock. Those are the big ones, and
then we have lots of little events. We have a
lot of investigations. There's the Times Theater investigations sold out,
(07:27):
but there's tickets to the other investigations at the Starry
night In, Old the Sonic Lodge, and the Bridge Tender,
and then we have seances and we have over thirty
some classes, thirty forty classes and over twenty some speakers,
so it's you know, very packed weekends.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Do all of those locations that you mentioned where these
investigations or tours are taking place have their own haunted history?
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah? In fact, actually, you know, some of them were
well known. The Bridge Tender was very well known as
the local haunt, so we latched onto that very quickly
with the owners, worked with them for years. As far
as the Starry night In and the Old the Sonic
Lodge there and Seaside, those were new business or new
buildings that we hadn't investigated, and the owners kind of
(08:18):
let us investigate them to see if we would find anything.
And every year that we've been in those locations, we've
found things going on in the buildings, So we've kind
of learned as we've gone along with those two locations.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
And it's all about having a good time. So if
folks are hearing this and they've never been to the
Oregon Ghost Conference, sum it up for them. In a
minute or so and then tell them how they should
go about making sure they don't miss out by getting
their tickets early on your website.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah, so there really is something for everyone. If you're thinking, oh,
I don't really want to spend the whole weekend, remember
this is the opening weekend to spring Break. You can
actually just come to for the day and there's plenty
of activities to participate in for all age groups. It's
twenty dollars admission to get in and that covers mission
(09:09):
for the entire weekend, for the vendors area and for
the speakers area all day at our classes and events
are kind of sold separately and ticketed. That is available
at Oregon Ghostconference dot com. There's a couple events that
have sold out, but most of the events still have
tickets available.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Awesome. It's so good to have this event still going
and it does continue to grow a year after year.
Even the pandemic couldn't keep you down. So kudos to that.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yeah, yeah, thank you, and I can't wait to see
you again. But two weeks from tomorrow, I guess, is
that right?
Speaker 1 (09:50):
It'll be nice. Always a great hospitality down there at
the Oregon Ghost Conference and as he said, it's twenty
dollars just to get in and see everything that is
included with your general admission a ticket. But trust me,
you're going to want to take part in some of
these other events, especially when you get back to your
hotel on Saturday night and you're like, well, what else
is there to do and you want to go on
(10:10):
one of Rocky's or Petez tours or investigations. If there
are still tickets available, you might want to just go
ahead and do those now. And of course it's almost
spring break and so it's not easy to just to
get a hotel. You want to do that now. And
if you haven't gone to the Oregon Ghost Conference website
to see what kind of deals they have for their
(10:33):
visitors being you, if you want to attend the conference,
just go do that. That would be my word of advice,
And having gone on my first actual investigation ever last
year at the Oregon Ghost Conference. If you're sitting on
the fence and you're thinking, well, do I do it
or do I not? I would say do it? So
(10:55):
that's all I have to say. The Bridge Tender, oh okay, yeah,
can't miss that, but that's sold out, so you can't
do that, but maybe next year.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
There No, there is one of the nights in Stillville.
I think Sunday, Okay, I think the one on the still.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
Okay, well, that is if you're listening to this now.
If you're listening to it like a week from now,
maybe not the case. You'll get there early and often,
as they say, thanks to Rocky, We'll see in seaside
in company.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
All right.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
It is the Oregon Ghost Conference. It is Lucky number
thirteen in Seaside, Oregon, March twenty first through twenty third.
I will see you there. I'll be out in the
lobby when you come in on Saturday and Sunday talking
with great speakers. Good night, friends, God bless
