As Thanksgiving nears, a holiday that this year serendipitously coincides with my birthday, I’ve found myself reflecting deeply on the role of gratitude in our lives. What if gratitude is truly the fountain of youth? In this episode, we explore how embracing gratitude can redefine aging, particularly for midlife moms like myself. Intrigued by Bruce Lipton’s fascinating insights, we delve into the science of gratitude and its impact on our chromosomes, focusing on telomeres and telomerase, which hold keys to our youthfulness and longevity.

By the way, I give a very very high level overview of Telomeres and Telomerase. By no means do I claim to be an expert, yet it's a fascinating portion of science and understanding. The two scientists that I mentioned, and could not remember their names, are named: Leonard Hayflick and American Anatomist and the other was Elizabeth Blackburn Australian-American Nobel laureate.

For those caught in the whirlwind of societal pressures and personal challenges, we discuss how gratitude can be a powerful tool of empowerment and healing. Our conversation touches on significant themes, such as the negative effects of poor nutrition and societal issues like media-driven narratives of division. Despite these challenges, I share simple yet profound practices, like maintaining a gratitude journal, that can enhance well-being and potentially activate telomerase, promoting cell health and longevity.

Finally, I extend an invitation to a 30-day gratitude challenge and share about upcoming opportunities for personal growth and healing. As we continue our journey together, I encourage everyone to focus on positive emotions and community support. Whether through upcoming energy healing sessions or mentoring chances, there's much to look forward to. Let’s keep our spirits elevated, stay connected, and embrace gratitude as a transformative force in our lives. Happy Thanksgiving, and join me next week for more empowering conversations.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome back to the intuitive mentor mom podcast,
where we explore strategies forgrowing confidence, empowerment
and gaining clarity for midlifemoms.
When life is happening for youand not to you, you can be
living the life of freedom, funand bliss.
I'm your host, tara Michelle.
Let's get to it.

(00:22):
Welcome back to the show.
I'm so excited to be with youguys here today.
So on the last episode I talkedabout, we were going to move
into balance and the importanceof balancing our lives.
But what if I told you thatgratitude is the key to the
fountain of youth?

(00:43):
What if I told you thatgratitude extends your life?
What if I told you that havinga daily practice of full-blown
gratitude is really the key to alife of full joy and

(01:04):
fulfillment?
So I want to talk about thattoday and we're going to add a
small piece of balance.
But reason why I'm bringingthis up and the reason why I
feel this is important to talkabout, is because it's
Thanksgiving next week and thatwas something that dawned on me.
I was like, oh my gosh, we'rein the holidays, thanksgiving is
coming.
Thanksgiving is like tomorrow, not literally, but it's in a few

(01:26):
days.
Let's see.
At the time that this episodecomes out, it will be in four
days and the cool thing is isthis year Thanksgiving lands on
my birthday.
And I'm just going to have funwith that this year, because so
many times I have never beenexcited that my birthday falls

(01:46):
on a holiday every five years.
It was one of those things.
When you're little, you know, when you're little you want to
celebrate your birthday, right,it's a big deal, it's like
exciting.
You're like I'm alive, yay, Iget presents.
Of course that's like, you know, the American way we get all
excited about the presents,right.
But as a little person, mybirthday always fell somewhere

(02:07):
in this holiday and it wouldturn out to not be exciting for
me, because often I couldn'thave a party during that time
because, of course, we were withour family and of course, you
know, other kids were with theirfamilies, so it either had to
become before the holiday orafter the holiday, or sometimes
my experience was that peoplewould just forget about my

(02:30):
birthday, so it was not one thatwas super exciting for me.
However, fast forward, howevermany years it's been, I finally
came to the point and the placewhere it really is a time for me
to celebrate and to be trulygrateful for all that is, and
one of my mentors has me writeout a list, the birthday truck

(02:53):
list like all the things that Iwant to create, all the things
that I desire, all the thingsthat I wish for, and you know.
So I've really turned mybirthday around around, like
it's an opportunity to reallycelebrate who I am and celebrate
this really beautiful gift oflife.
So, with that said, this episodeis really going to be about the

(03:17):
power of gratitude and the giftof life that gives you, the
gift of life that gratitudebrings you, and many of you
probably already know this.
Many of you have heard, youknow.
I mean, there's so many videosand movies and all kinds of

(03:38):
things out there about gratitudeand it has been scientifically
proven that gratitude willextend your life.
How about that Scientificallyproven?
And I'm going to touch a littlebit about that science in this
episode, and I really want allof you that are listening.

(04:02):
The biggest thing I want you totake away from this episode is
just that right now in life asit is, as we're experiencing it,
it's a very tumultuous time onour planet.
We are probably at theprecipice of like the most

(04:22):
amazing transformation, becausewe are transforming a paradigm.
We are transforming generationsof generational breakdowns.
You know violence, hatred, youknow loss, lack, all of it Like
we are breaking down abuse, allof these generational patterns

(04:49):
of conversations that no longerserve humanity, conversations
that no longer serve you, whoyou are.
That's where we're at andthere's a few ways that you can
look at life right now, because, remember, this show is about
life is happening for us, right,it's happening for you, it is
happening for us.

(05:10):
If we were to look at it ashappening for us, this is an
opportunity to make a shift in atransformation and really shift
the way we see our lives.
So, with that said, I need tokeep myself on track here,
because I'm all excited aboutthis topic of gratitude and the
science behind it and how youliterally can extend your life,

(05:32):
you can remove wrinkles off yourface, you can remove and shed
weight that you're carrying,dead weight, whether it's
energetically or physically orall of the above.
Whether it's energetically orphysically or all of the above,
you know, I don't know if youever have you ever known
somebody who one.
Is they kind of toxic?
And when you would see themlike you could just see it.

(05:54):
You know, you just see it allover their face.
You can just see it and theyyou know, the moment they look
at you.
It's like you can feel it, andmaybe you don't know somebody,
but you've seen those people inthe world, right?
And the reason why I say do youknow somebody is because have
you ever seen that person have atransformation such that maybe

(06:15):
they started doingself-development work, maybe
they started doing a deep diveon really owning and healing and
restoring the self-discoverywithin them, right, healing all
of the parts that were no longerworking for them, or healing
all the parts that hurt.
And then you see them after.

(06:36):
Their face is lighter, theirskin changes, their eyes are
softer.
Have you ever seen that?
Have you ever seen that?
Have you ever seen that?
I've seen it.
Not only have I seen it myself, but I've seen it in other
people and it's amazing, and Ijust came across some
information about how thathappens and really it's

(06:58):
gratitude.
Gratitude can truly be afountain of youth in your life.
So let's get to that, okay, because I'm just going to keep
getting excited.
So I knew that I wanted to talkabout life balance, because life
balance is important and lifebalance is super important, and

(07:19):
we will talk about that, and Imyself this week had to balance
life so delicately and I did hita little bit of a under the
weather kind of thing.
I've got a thing that's tryingto come out of my body and I am
moving it out.
But it was a delicate balanceof life this week with new jobs,
job opportunities, job offers, basketball games for my son,

(07:42):
homework for my son work, basketball games for my son,
homework for my son, work, youknow, not to mention the new job
, the old job, you know, as I'mtransitioning out of that, and
then this new opportunity, a newjob opportunity, coming on my
plate.
All these things this week.
Oh, and the Bunko group yes, Ihosted Bunko this week at my
house.
Yes, I play Bunko and it's alot of fun, and don't laugh,

(08:02):
anybody who's going to laugh outthere.
It's a lot of fun.
Anyway, totally juggling, learning how to balance.
But inside of the balance, thethought of gratitude came up.
It's a time of giving thanks.
Thanksgiving is upon us, wejust had a big election.
A lot of people are probablyfeeling all kinds of different

(08:26):
places and you know what you canchoose to let the election
either drag you down or make youhappy.
Whichever way you're sitting,okay, whichever way you're
sitting, you can choose duringthis Thanksgiving holiday to
allow all of that noise todiminish your space and get in

(08:52):
your way and drive your outlookon life, if that's your choice.
But I'm going to encourage andask you to make a new choice Do
not allow any of that outsidenoise.
Now, some people arecelebrating I'm celebrating.

(09:13):
Some people are celebratingOkay, some people aren't
celebrating.
They're going to let that wholething, that whole day in
November, drive them to Godknows what.
But I'm going to say it'sThanksgiving y'all, it's
Thanksgiving y'all.
It's time to turn all of thatenergy into what you can be

(09:36):
grateful for and what you cangive thanks for, and to who.
Who can you be grateful for?
Who can you be thankful for andwhat thankfulness will you?
Will you just be, you know, thanking God for thankfulness?
Will you just be thanking Godfor?

(09:56):
So a little bit about thescience of where this comes from
, or I shouldn't say wheregratitude comes from, but what
gratitude can do to the body.
So, if you're familiar withBruce Lipton, are any of you
familiar with Bruce Lipton?
I love Bruce Lipton so much.
He's a quantum physicist andhe's just a brilliant scientist

(10:17):
and he's written so many amazingbooks the Biology of Belief is
one of my favorite ones but Iwanted to really hear his take
on gratitude and so I went anddid a little search and found a
little video and found a fewmore videos, and then kept doing
a little more, diving into thevideos and I learned about
telomeres and telomerase, Ithink is what it's called, or

(10:43):
telomeres and telomerase is whatit's called.
So the telomeres are theseextensions on the end of every
chromosome, and these telomereslive at the tips of the
chromosomes.
They don't program, okay, theydon't do anything like that.
They're just extenders.

(11:05):
They're extra extensions on thechromosome, extensions on the
chromosome.
When DNA begins losing thetelomeres, the aging process
begins.
And how these telomeres getclipped off or how they get

(11:28):
removed or how we lose them, okay, each time a cell divides a
little bit of that telomeregets broken off, okay.
Now there's a pretty deepscience into how and why that
occurs.
I'm not gonna get into thatright now.
However, they started to lookat well, if that's the case, if

(11:53):
each time a cell divides, comesout, a new cell comes out, these
telomeres get broken off eachtime.
Well then, what does that mean?
How many times before all thetelomeres are gone and the body

(12:14):
just completely the aging likereally begins to break down.
And there was a scientist whofigured out I wish I wrote down
his name.
I did not write down his name,I'll put it in the show notes
though.
Okay, it was 120 years.
Okay, it was 120 years.

(12:37):
Okay, now we all know that welive in a life right now, in a
world where it's not common forpeople to live 120 years, at
least not in this country.
Okay, it does happen in somecountries, not in our country.
It's not common, and there's areason why.
Now, what they also found waswell, is there a way to get
these extensions back?
Well, yes, then anotherscientist whose name I did not

(12:58):
write down, but I will put inthe show notes there's another
scientist's name, a womanscientist that came on the map
and discovered that there'stelomerase, and the telomerase
are what activate and create thetelomeres to grow extensions.

(13:19):
Okay, now, that was your littleone second blip of science
information told by thenon-scientist.
Okay, so these little telomeresbasically it's these telomeres
live on the ends of ourchromosomes, so when cells

(13:40):
divide, when a new cell comesout, it clips off a piece of
that telomere.
Well, then there's thetelomerase who, when activated
properly and are told to dotheir job, will go and create
more of the telomeres.
Okay, so it creates more ofthat extension.
What that means when thathappens, is that cells can just

(14:02):
continue to divide, continue todivide, continue to divide,
continue to divide.
Now, it does not mean that welive forever right Now, it does
not mean that we live foreverright, but it means that you can
lengthen the time of life, oryou can lengthen that youthful
experience in your body.
Well, here's the key, right?

(14:22):
So how do you activate thetelomerase so that they are
creating more of theseextensions?
Because, if you think aboutyour life right now, how many of
those extensions have beenclipped off?
Well, who knows?
Like a lot, right?
However, many years you'restanding here Now, what happens

(14:45):
is what we want to do is we wantto activate those to create
more youthful experience in thebody, in the cells.
How do you do that?
Well, first, let's talk aboutwhat causes the telomerase to
deactivate.
Okay, these telomerase canliterally stop working.

(15:05):
How they stop working?
First and foremost, they stopworking when you have zero
purpose in life, okay, when youfeel lackadaisical, when you
feel you have nothing thatyou're really living for.
And if you look around in ourworld, there's probably a lot of
people feeling like I gotnothing to live for because

(15:27):
they're very plugged into media.
Okay, loss of love.
Let's say you lose a loved one.
Let's say you have no self-lovefor yourself, you just don't
love yourself.
Let's also talk about theviolence on the planet and how
much violence we see.
So if somebody experiences alot of abuse whether it's

(15:48):
domestic abuse, child abuse, ptsd they've watched a lot of
violence these telomerase willliterally start to shut down and
deactivate and that starts theaging process prematurely.
Okay, now, poor nutrition.

(16:10):
So let's say, if you take alook at the American world along
with the American diet, what dowe have?
Poor nutrition, a lot ofviolence, incredible amounts of
abuse, a lot of loss, peoplefeeling as if they have no
purpose.

(16:30):
They feel isolated, a lack oflove, a lack of self-love and,
god knows, a lack of love forothers.
What is the narrative that isbeing pushed in the world right
now, especially in this country, based on a way that you voted

(16:52):
so you'll cut out your friendsand family.
What?
Who would push a narrative asthat?
Thank you, media.
Who would push that.
So let's get back down to thewhy, why.
Why would heads of government, why would heads of media

(17:16):
corporations push the amount ofviolence, loss, lack of love,
poor nutrition to support andpush what Unhealthy, broken down
bodies, unhappy, no longeryouthful and literally shutting

(17:40):
down the experience to live injoy?
Okay, maybe I'm getting a littleoff topic, but I'm getting
pretty passionate.
I'm like, oh my God, you thinkabout it, it's like what?
Now let's get back to whatactivates the telomerase love,

(18:04):
self-care, joy, gratitude,purpose, good nutrition, a
positive outlook on life andbeing of service to others.
So when you are being all thosethings, when you are loving

(18:29):
your life, feeling a purpose, feeling a deep sense of
gratitude, you activate thesebeautiful little telomerase in
your body that go and then talkto the telomeres and say we are
going to ask you to extend and Isay it like that because I want

(18:49):
you to think of your body asthis temple and a community of
all of these beautiful littlebeings, these conscious beings
whether they're amoebas or Idon't even know like all the
little beautiful beings in thebody right, the chromosomes, the
nucleus, all of these thingsare conscious communities in

(19:13):
your body, inside your human.
What do you want to call it Ameat suit?
I hate calling it a meat suit.
It just sounds so gross, butit's true.
Okay, those telomerase go andadd the extensions to the

(19:34):
telomeres which live on the endsof your chromosomes and your
cells can continue to divide andcontinue to thrive, continue to
love, continue to be happy.
And so all it takes is yousitting down and writing out
gratitude every day.
What if you wrote out agratitude list?

(19:55):
What if you just sat andmeditated in the space and
thanked everything around yourworld, from your children to
your pets, to the trees in youryard, to the clean, crispy
sheets that you get to crawlinto bed, to the gas that's in
your car, to the fact that youhave hearing and you can listen

(20:18):
to podcasts, to the fact thatyou can eat delicious food, or
you could choose to eat not sodelicious food, but be thankful
that you have the opportunity.
You have choice.
You have choice in the matterof every single thing you do in
your day.
You have choice to go stand outin the beautiful cold or to

(20:41):
come into a warm home.
You have choice to take a hotbath or a hot shower, like all
of these beautiful things to bethankful for, and so, in this
moment, as I share with all ofyou, like I am thankful that I
get to have this experience ofhaving a podcast and sharing my

(21:02):
stories and sharing the littlewisdom that I have on the 53,
almost 54 years of being on thisplanet, to be able to snuggle
up with my son.
I'm so thankful to snuggle upand cuddle with him every
morning.
I am so thankful for mybeautiful dogs, the family, the

(21:23):
friends that I have.
I am thankful for Culver's andthe ice cream that we got to buy
from them this evening.
I'm thankful for my parents.
I'm thankful for so much.
I am thankful for thisincredible body of mine that
keeps moving and keeps pumpingblood and keeps doing all the

(21:43):
things that it's supposed to do.
You know, life is such ablessing and when you get right
down to really looking around Imean, if you're listening to
this while driving, like, thankyou God, you have a car, you
have a car that's working today, thank you God that you're on
time.
Thank you God that you you know, I don't know got your kids to

(22:06):
school on time, or, thank God,you just got to wake them up,
even if you got them to schoollate because they were late, but
thank God they woke up and youwoke up and everybody's here
today.
There's so much to be gratefulfor, and I just want to take a
moment to share that.
When you begin rooting yourselfinto that energy every morning,

(22:29):
every day, even if you want todo it 10 times a day, or morning
, afternoon and at night, Ipromise you, if you took on
doing a gratitude journal whichI'm going to do this, by the way
, I'm going to do this for thenext 30 days, because I haven't
done this in a long time and Ihaven't stayed really committed
to it I challenge you, do thiswith me from here on out, the

(22:56):
next 30 days.
Do a gratitude journal.
Or even if you just sit in themorning and you wake up and you
put your hands on your heart andyou just say thank you, god for
all the things.
Or it may just be your higherpower, maybe just you're talking
to space because maybe youdon't believe in God.
Whatever it is, whatever it is,that you just sit in that moment

(23:17):
with your eyes closed and youfeel it and you start thanking
your world, thank the universefor all that is in this moment,
world, thank the universe forall that is in this moment, all
that you have the ability tostretch, the ability to stand,

(23:37):
the ability to drink hot coffee, the ability to like snuggle up
to a pet or a friend or a loveror your children.
Thank God that your legs areworking.
Thank God that you can see.
Thank God that you can see.
Thank God that you can hear.
Thank God that you can taste.
You can taste the flavors offood.
Thank you God for every ounceof everything in life.
Thank you God for the job Ihave.

(23:58):
Thank you God for the people Iget to see every day.
Thank you God, whatever it is,and begin to resonate in that
feeling.
And when you resonate in thatfeeling, you will literally feel
your body lift your energy, expand your heart, swell.
You will begin to feel lighter, more joy, more peace, more

(24:24):
gratitude, more peace, moregratitude.
And when you start your day offwith that, every single day, it
is crazy the amount of miraclesand blessings that come your
way.
I mean absolutely wild.
And it will be amazing to seehow your body internally shifts,

(24:45):
your eyes soften, how your bodyinternally shifts, your eyes
soften, your skin radiates andpeople begin to see it.
And it's amazing how manypeople will want to talk to you.
You'll have people randomlywalk up to you and just want to
like talk with you, especiallyat the store happens all the

(25:05):
time, and I encourage you bewith those people because it's a
blessing, because you're ablessing and we get to be
blessings for one another everysingle day.
Like the beautiful joy of justbeing in this world in community
with others.
And think about the communityof others within your body and

(25:30):
the joys that they get to get upevery day, every morning, those
cells wake up with you and theybegin to work with one within
themselves.
Like this unifying force withinyour body.
Unifying force within your bodybegins to work and communicate
in love and in partnership.
You are in partnership withyour body.

(26:00):
It really is that your soul andyour body are in partnership.
Treat it like a temple, love itlike a temple and be thankful
that you are breathing this air, feeling this sunshine, feeling
the crispness of it, of the airor the warmth of the air,
whatever it is, wherever you'restanding.

(26:23):
But on this Thanksgiving, I justwant all of you to feel the
gratitude and the magnitude ofwho you are, the gift that you
are.
Feel that.
Thank that, be that, live that, because you are special, you

(26:43):
are amazing, you radiate love ifyou choose, and I say go, be
that, Go, do that.
And I thank each and every oneof you for being on this journey
with me, for tuning in to myshow and listening.
I hope that what I share makesa difference and resonates and

(27:08):
activates you and inspires youjust to have a new thought for
yourself, to have a newperspective of who you are, to
remind you that you are the mostincredible human being on this
planet.
It just wouldn't be the same.
I wouldn't be the same withoutyou.
We would not be the samewithout each other.

(27:32):
We are all here, workingtogether to raise the frequency
of this amazing planet.
Imagine if 1 million of us in asingle city, 11 million of us,
12 million of us.
Just think in one day what couldoccur if everybody stood rooted

(27:54):
firm in love and gratitude.
It's mind blowing.
I don't even know that we couldreally fathom what's possible.
That's what this is about.
That's what this is about.
This is about standing ingratitude and joy and love.
And let's not just have it oneday a year, y'all, let's make it

(28:15):
an everyday adventure.
So okay, back to the challenge30 days that's kind of a lot.
If you can make it to sevendays, that is a win.
Okay, that's a win, becauseseven days is huge.
But I want to challenge you.
You hit that seven day mark, doeight days.
You hit that eight day mark, do14 days.

(28:37):
You hit that 14 day mark, do 20days.
Keep going, keep going, don'tgive up, don't stop.
And I urge you to come backhere and share with me what
opened up.
Share in the comments whatopened up as a result of you
standing inside of gratitude.

(28:58):
So I didn't want this to be toolong, but I got really excited.
We will get back to balance.
I promise I am going to be alsosharing some really beautiful

wish all of you a beautiful, magical, amazing, safe, joyful,
pleasant Thanksgiving.
Love on friends, love on family.

(29:41):

nice downtime for myself Givethanks to you and love on you.
And if you are going to sharewith friends and family, love on
those friends and family, openyour heart wide, open the doors
wide and just allow love in,allow it to pour through your

(30:05):
body.
It is the elixir and it is thehealing energy.
It is the fountain of youth.
It is that which will keep youyouthful, keep you younger, keep
your body more alive and, yeah,it adds youth and years to your
