This is it. Hey, laser clickus.

(00:23):
Welcome to the Ion Cannon Podcast, your source for
entertainment reviews from a Galaxy far, far away.
I'm your host today, Tom, and I'm here with William.
We're going to be talking about all the news that came out of
Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025that just wrapped up yesterday,
meaning they are a day in front of us, which would be today

(00:44):
even, by the way, was not able to make it.
I think with all the news that came out of Celebration Japan,
he kind of fainted because there's a lot of good stuff that
came out and I really don't think he's recovered from all
this information. Well, it was information
overload, though. William and I are going to sit
here today and kind of take overand get into it.

(01:04):
What was announced here at Celebration?
Tom, I, I know you and I, we, wewish we could have gone it, it's
hard to, you know, just, it's, it's a long way to go.
I have a relatively young kid now.
But hey, we're, we're, we're going to be at celebration.
The big, the big at the end, right?
The big news is celebration's coming back. 2027 is for the

(01:24):
50th anniversary of Lucasfilm. It's in your home city, Tom of
Los Angeles. Wait from me, yes it is.
Yep, and so we will be there andI cannot wait.
It'll be it'll be so much fun tocelebrate the 50th anniversary
of of Star Wars and it'll and Star Wars squadrons.

(01:44):
Sorry, Star Wars Starfighter, not squadrons Starfighter is
going to be like a month away from from launch from from
premiering. So I guess a month and 1/2 or
so. So yeah, it's, it's great timing
for the next Star Wars Celebration and very excited.
It'll be not too far away, all things considered.
I mean, I'm, I'm in Seattle, so it's a pretty quick flight for

(02:07):
me as well. Yeah.
Yeah, come down to Burbank from Burbank, get on the freeway.
Boom, you're there. Exactly, exactly.
But there was a a decent amount of stuff that was announced.
I think based on the panels, I, I was skeptical we'd get a ton
of big announcements. I knew we probably would get an
animated series announcement and.

(02:28):
That's one thing we're holding for over to use.
Yeah, there there was. We we've all heard about the
about the the Mandor Grogu. We we knew there was new TV
shows coming and we knew that atleast the Tales was coming for
animation. But we never really knew that
there was going to be another show because they always had a
couple kind of animated things come out right.

(02:50):
But it was nice to see that we are getting like a Darth Maul
series. Yeah.
So that was one of the two, I think, big surprise
announcements being one being Darth Maul, Shadow Lord
premiering next year in 2026 with, of course, the phenomenal
Sam Wintler returning and reprising his role as Lord Maul.

(03:12):
Oh man, I it's too bad Steven was haunted down by the ISB and
and and faded from all those thenews, because it would have been
fun to have him breakdown this as well.
But it's I don't know what you what you think, Tom.
I cannot wait to have a series focused on Maul.
It just sounds incredible. I think the best thing about it

(03:32):
is it's going to continue on at least the part it's going to
continue on from where kind of Solo left off.
So hopefully we're going to see all that and maybe we could get
Kira in that, which would make sense because if he's a if he's
the Stato Lord, then it is his basic back story of how he
became the I Am Lord of the Underworld.

(03:55):
Yeah. So yeah, the, the, the
interesting thing is it takes place one year after the Clone
Wars, so probably a few years before.
My bad. I'm sorry I was so wrapped up
into this. I really didn't.
My bad. I was kind of hoping that it
would take place a little bit further, but nice to know that

(04:16):
it's going to fill in gaps. That's the main thing.
Yeah, and I'm, I'm super excitedto see where they, where they
take this, right? Because even though it's a
little earlier, you're still going to get lots of I'm sure
they're going to get lots of thethe different underworld
criminal organizations. We're going to see mall unite
everyone under the shadow collective.

(04:37):
We've heard some of these stories here and there, but I
it'll be so fascinating to see amall centric series because
typically he's not been the the big bad, right?
He's been or he's been the big bad, but he's never been the
protagonist is what I meant to say.

(04:59):
And in fact, most Star Wars series we've seen books or
comics with the, you know, the bad guy is the protagonist, but
we haven't seen a Star Wars show.
I mean, I guess the closest maybe is the Acolyte where
someone, one of the bad guys is a, is a protagonist.
You know, typically in, you know, Rebels, for example,

(05:22):
right, we'd see mall or even in Clone Wars, we'd see mall and
Dave Filoni and George Lucas would always be like, well, it's
not their story, right? They are they're they're they're
in the series, but their story is rebels, for example, that of
the ghost crew. And so I'm really excited to see

(05:43):
what a mall centric story looks like, you know, especially one
that's so focused on the bad guys.
I I, I, I, I I can't wait. I'm it's another Clone Wars spin
off effectively Bad Batch was a Clone Wars spin off mall shuttle
or it's going to be a Clone Warsspin off.

(06:03):
But you know, we all love the Clone Wars so much.
I think there's it's just I'm excited.
I cannot wait for more Darth Maul.
Yeah, it is going to be fun to pick up where it left off after
the seizure. Mandalore, where he went from
there. Yeah.
And you're right, How he was able to bring in the, you know,

(06:24):
the the Black Sun, the huts, youknow, are the huts actually
going to join in with this? Are they going to stay kind of
on the outside of it? It will be fascinating, Very,
very fascinating. Yeah, I, I, I can't wait.
And and also in an interview on the Celebration live state feed,
Sam Whitwer said we're going to learn some new things about

(06:45):
Maul. He has traits you wouldn't think
he has that makes sense based onwhat he's been through.
So that's a really interesting tease.
I wonder what that will mean in.Practice.
I wonder if they're going to do like a flashback of how he
actually did survive being sliced in half by Obi Wan and
got those spider leg. Because I know that it was.

(07:08):
Yeah. Because if if it is true that he
was able to survive because of all that hate that was inside of
him, how was he able to get to that planet to get those spider
legs? Yeah, that's actually good.
I hadn't thought about that. Like, will we see more?
I mean, will we see more of his backs?
Maybe, maybe we'll even see like, flashbacks in his back
story when he was, you know, an apprentice for Sidious and oh,

(07:32):
you got me. Oh, there's so much potential.
There is. There is, There is.
A lot of back story to fill in that that is going to make the
show fascinating if they decide to do that, because there's only
so much of A flashback you couldget away with before it kind of
gets old. So the pickup point will say how
far of a flashback they're goingto take with this show.

(07:55):
Yeah. Well, I'm excited.
It sounds like there's going to be a new animation style as
well. They did show off a clip
exclusively for attendees. I suspect it's kind of like, you
know, I don't know. I'm very, very interested to see
I, I wonder how much of A how big of a change it'll be versus
just like evolution of the, the animation style.
But hope. There'll be an evolution.

(08:17):
Yeah, but Maul Shadowlord is definitely a highlight and loves
Sam Whitwer and Darth Maul and it's I can't wait.
I cannot wait. Yeah, the other news, and we
kind of alluded to it, I, I guess, as we were talking about
Star Wars Celebration, but that's the announcement during
the Mandalorian Grogu panel of all things, that we're getting

(08:40):
another new film called Star Wars Starfighter premieres May
28th, 2027, so just two years away, Memorial Day 2027.
And it's directed by Sean Levy, of course, to Deadpool and
Wolverine and a bunch of other movies, and starring Ryan
Gosling as as heavily rumored Tom.

(09:03):
Your thoughts on this? My thoughts are I, I would much
rather have, I would almost say like a little bit of a known
name character. I, I look, I appreciate all
these big name actors, actresseswho really want to get into the
Star Wars universe. I, I get it.

(09:23):
Everybody wants to play within it, but there's a certain point
in which you're just like, let like, like, you know, you, you
got Rose Tico, OK, and you've got these these and you've got
John Boyega. You've got, you know, you've got
people who are really, they're actress, but they're not really
up there in stature. I'd like to see somebody like

(09:45):
those. Well, even like.
Actresses, they have the opportunity.
I mean that. That's my feeling.
I hope he pulls it off. I hope he doesn't Take Me Out of
the movie because it is Ryan Gosling.
But I just, I, I'm pretty sure the way Sean Levy's going to do
this, he's done very well with, with Deadpool.
OK, let's see how he does it within the Star Wars universe.

(10:07):
Let's see what he does with RyanGosling to basically make it
like, it's not really Ryan Gosling with the Star Wars
universe. It's this character in the Star
Wars universe, and you forget who the actor is.
Yeah, I mean, I know Ryan Gosling definitely has a
particular style to him. And I, I share your concerns

(10:27):
that it will feel too much like Ryan Gosling rather than Star
Wars. I guess we'll see if that's, you
know, what ends up happening or not.
I certainly hope it feels more like Star Wars.
I agree with you. You know, most of the time, even
Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, evenHarrison Ford at the time,

(10:48):
right. He'd been in some things.
It wasn't like there were complete unknowns, but they
were, they weren't the lead actors, right?
You know, and, and there has been times we have pretty big
name actors, but they're typically supporting roles in
Star Wars, for example, Liam Neeson in The Phantom Menace or
or Seralic Guinness in Attack ofthe New Hope.

(11:11):
Or. You know, Mason do right in in
the prequels. It's you know, they are, you
know, Samuel L Jackson, right, They are, they're well known,
but they're kind of in supporting roles.
I guess one could make the argument that maybe Jude Law and
skeleton crew, but even even that you you can kind of say he

(11:34):
was a sporting role in many ways.
He he was more like a quiet typecharacter.
He wasn't the main. He wasn't up front.
Right, it was the. Kids.
Yeah, he wasn't the character front, right?
Yeah. And so I am, I share your
concerns. It's a little, it's a little
weird to have him headlining a movie, especially with someone
with such a distinct personalitywho kind of seems like.

(11:57):
He plays. I hate to say it kind of seems
like he has a very similar character in most things you see
him in. Yeah, I mean, I didn't, I did
not see him in the sequel to Blade Runner because I know he
was in that. But I just hope, Yeah, I just
hope that. And yes, I don't want to see him

(12:18):
take that character from Blade Runner and be the exact same
character within within Starfighter.
Yeah. You know that that's the only
thing that that kind of would concern me.
Yeah, That said, I'm very excited.
I I, you know, normally I think with a new Star Wars movie, I
would be a little skeptical given their track record so far.

(12:39):
We talked about earlier, I think, I think our was at our
Disney Plus five year anniversary show we talked
about. How their?
Track record, at least they really tried to reassure people
that no, no, no, it's it's actually happening.
I think multiple times. They said it begins production
this fall. They've already written the
script, they're filming this fall.

(13:00):
It's not like they're I. Mean they've got a release date.
They're going to have to. They're going to have to stick
with that. It's not that.
Far two years for a Star Wars movie.
It's tweeters. I mean, I guess the fact they've
already done the script and they've already done a lot of
the stuff that a lot of the pre production helps.
So it's not actually two years, it's two years from announce for
a Star Wars movie. So I think they can do it, but

(13:21):
it is interesting. I'm also excited about the
timeline, right? It's five years after Rise of
Skywalker, so it's the furthest in the timeline we'll have seen
so far. It's, I mean, clearly about
based on the title, Star Wars starfighter, a pilot, you know,
of some sort and going to have alot of starfighters in it.

(13:43):
That's all we really know about it.
That's all we know. I mean, it's it's fascinating
because if Patty Jenkins is still working on her quote UN
quote Rogue Squadron, you know, is that is that still going to
happen because you still keep hearing the rumors.
It's still quote UN quote in development.

(14:03):
I mean, this kind of feels like a replacement for that.
It does, right? And it does.
The title's a little bland O Starfighter.
And actually it is. They've already used that title
for a video game back in the early 2000s, Star Wars
Starfighter. That's right, but.
Whatever, you know it, it's cool.
People love starfighters. Let's I'm excited to see what

(14:24):
they do, where they take it in anew era.
As long, as long as it's a big space battle, give it to me.
Yeah. I mean, we, we've seen many kind
of war movies in which you've seen dogfights.
Let's see a really good dogfightin space.
Yeah, Yep, I I agree. I agree.
And Kathleen Kennedy also reiterated that they're don't

(14:48):
worry, they're still working on Star Wars films from James
Manigold, Charmin obeyed Shenoy,Taika Waititi and a new trilogy
from Simon Kinberg. So she reiterated, don't, don't,
don't worry. They are still all happening.
I know, you know, there's been alot of a lot of stuff happening.

(15:09):
And in the last, a lot of not a lot of films have have made it
out necessarily. But you know, she rated.
Those are still happening. I think I can.
I just say I think the best thing about that is as long as
they don't rush all this and as long as they, let's say, I think

(15:30):
I mentioned before, try and makehim an event film again, I have
no problem with the stuff still stewing, still getting an active
development, but I'd love to seethem released one day.
Yeah. And not just have them go
back-to-back to back-to-back to back get get back to what Star
Wars used to be an event film. Yeah, no, I, I was, it's

(15:52):
actually interesting. I, as we were just talking, I
pulled up the notes from what wehad previously, right.
We knew that when we were talking about the future of
Disney Plus back last November when we knew there was Andor
Season 2, which of course drops in two days as we're releasing
Ahsoka season 2, which we'll talk more about in a little bit.

(16:13):
Mandalorian Season 4, which willcome out after Mandalorian and
Grogu, whatever's next for Star Wars innovation, which we now
know about that small shadow Lord.
And then we talked about some ofthe movies known at the time the
Mandalorian Grogu raised Jedi order movie that's the one by
Charmaine obey Chinoy, the origins of the Jedi movie by
James Mangold, Teko Itd's movie,Sean Levy's movie, of course,

(16:34):
which was just announced. But there's two interestingly.
Well, there's also the Simon Kibbut trilogy, which was
rumored more recently and that wasn't on our list back in
November. But there's also two more that
Kathleen Kennedy did not mentionat Celebration.

(16:57):
One is the Lando Show or movie, which seems to be in
development, still having development challenges.
And the other one, there's a biga big movie that was not
mentioned by Kathleen Kennedy. Do you know which one it is?

(17:17):
I have forgotten. He's a certain major, major
filmmaker in the Star Wars universe who happens to wear a
hat. Oh, Dave Filoni's movie.
Where is it? Is it still happening?
Obviously he's involved in Mandalorian Grogu, but like, we
knew Dave Filoni was supposed tohave a movie.

(17:39):
You're right, I forgot about that.
I don't know like. I.
I what It's interesting KathleenKennedy didn't mention it.
Unless he's still planning a movie, but after Ahsoka season
2. Well, maybe.
Their ongoing development. Maybe she didn't mention it,
but. Right.
Well, maybe they're kind of planning on making that kind of

(18:00):
announcement in 27 at Star Wars Celebration LA.
Yeah, I could see that. I mean that.
That's a possibility. I mean, it's since they've got
so much supposedly quote UN quote in active development.
This may be something to where it's like, and as you've
mentioned, maybe it's going to be coming after Ahsoka season 2.
Then that may be something they don't want to announce now

(18:21):
because he's got to get Mando, you know, Mando Goguru off his
plate, Ahsoka Season 2 off his plate, and then he can focus on
doing his movie. Yeah, yeah.
That's right. So.
Maybe that's why they didn't mention it because it's not an
active or ongoing development, it's just upcoming.
But it is interesting that Filoni's movie was not name
dropped at Celebration. But OK, so we got Star Wars

(18:45):
Starfighter. We have, of course, the
Mandalorian Grogu. That's the panel everyone went
to when they got the they, they, they signed up for the
Mandalayian Grogu panel and weresurprised by the Star Wars
Starfighter news. I didn't think we'd actually get
a film announced at this celebration, but on the
Mandalorian Grogu front, they reiterated that the release date
is May 22nd, 2026. Obviously this was announced at

(19:07):
D23 last year, and they showed acouple actually.
They showed a clip with some really cool action of like
ATATS&ATRTS and BD droids. Rod of the Hut, who was like
looking very, very buff. Maybe he's in like a fight ring

(19:28):
of some sort. Zeb is is showing up which is
really exciting after his. Appearance.
In Mandalorian. Oh yeah, and the fact that he
wasn't in Ahsoka season 2, whichis a little, little
disappointing. So given everyone else was
there. So I'm excited.
Zeb's come back. And then they confirmed that
Sigourney Weaver is going to be playing a unnamed rebel pilot.

(19:51):
She's completely committed to the cause and came up during the
Rebellion and now wants to protect the New Republic and she
hires Dinjarin and Grogut to help her with.
Something which sounds like that's what sets the film.
That's the movie, yeah. So I'm excited I not AI mean we
got some cool tidbits. Not a ton of major announcements

(20:12):
for that film, but still, it's it's cool to see.
You know, and the clip was it was only shown for attendees,
but you can find it online if you look close enough.
And that one was cool too. It it's out there, but it is
cool to see it really cool to see Zepp love to see.
Love to see that transition fromanimation to live action.
That's that's pretty cool. Yeah, let's see, we talked about

(20:36):
animation. Ahsoka is also one we should
talk about. Again, not a ton of news because
they're so early in development, but there's no like, release
date or anything. But Dave Lin did confirm they're
gonna start filming Season 2 as soon as he gets back from Japan.
So next week they announced thatRory McCann is officially taking

(20:57):
on the role of Bailin Skull Given.
Yeah, that was when you watch the panel.
That was kind of hard to watch. It was you could see how
emotional Dave Filoni got. Yeah, it it was very hard to it.
It's it's really cool that was there.
And they also showed some. It must be a costume test of
Rory in that. He looks good.

(21:18):
He looked really good. I mean, I the the the beard was
not as I'm not going to be nitpick.
Beard was not as great, but I could believe it.
I had no problem seeing him as Bailin skull.
You know, it is sad the the circumstances, but I.
Mean it Ray Stevenson's he he just he was phenomenal as bailin

(21:39):
skull and it's it's unfortunate. You know what what happened and
you know his, his death, but theI think it's going to be hard to
replace him. And then Dave Lynn even says
that. But ultimately, you know, they,
they want to continue his story. And he said he talked to Ray
Stevens's family and. And and I think.

(21:59):
That's their blessing. That's going to that's going to
help the character and Roy McCann get through all this and
make it work because of the the the thought they put behind
this. It's going to work out very well
and I'm really looking forward to it.
I was just surprised when they made the announcement that
they're going to start filming basically next week.
Yeah. So that's.
You know it's quick. Yeah, I I wonder if that'll be

(22:21):
next. That'll probably be next year
then I suspect, you know, maybe next spring.
We don't have next year. Yeah, 'cause like, 'cause this
we have. I mean, we'll talk more later
on, but I, I suspect my guess iswe have Andor right now, you

(22:43):
know, over the next month in thefall, we'll have Lego Star Wars,
we'll have visions and then I think next spring probably will
get mall Shadow Lord followed byMandalorian Grogu film lot
premiere in May, followed by Ahsoka, probably late summer
fall time frame with the other visions announcement somewhere

(23:05):
in there as well. We'll come back to that and
then, you know, Star Wars Star Fighter the May after that.
So it seems like they're kind ofsettling into a one to two
Series A year. Which I.
Like 1 animation, one live action, one miscellaneous, you

(23:27):
know, plus maybe I'm. Totally fine with that.
I, I think just to make it to where you're not overly
saturated with Star Wars, but itkeeps it out there enough to
where people are still interested.
And as long as they put a good product, then then the fans are
going to still be there. I think it's going to be fun.
When it comes to the Ahsoka panel, the the very stress that

(23:51):
and stressed very hard that we're going to be seeing massive
battles within this because they're going up against Thrawn.
And the surprise of who's going up against Thrawn is Admiral
Ackbar. Oh.
So cool. I'm so excited to see Ackbar and
Home 1. And I want to see, I, I want to

(24:12):
see the tactics, because we really don't see Admiral Ackbar
with any kind of tactics when we've originally seen him.
I want to see it now. I want to see literally that the
chess match match that's going to happen between Thrawn and
Ackbar, because Thrawn has always been that person that's
been 123 steps ahead of his opponent.
Now let's see how Akbar can counter all that.

(24:34):
And this is live action Akbar. And supposedly the costume is
still going to have the wiggly finger like you originally see
in A New Hope, though it's Akbar, but it's going to stay
true to the actual character in the way he was in the original
films. But I'm just still looking
forward to this because I, I think I did say that when Akbar

(24:55):
gets back for public space, there has to be carnage.
Every, I'm sorry, throng gets back to to has to be carnage.
It it can't when we come back orAhsoka season 2, you have to see
carnage of the New Republic. It can't just be, oh, we're
going to see battle. No, it has to be carnage,

(25:17):
because that's throng. Yeah.
And we're going to get it. Oh we are.
I cannot wait for Ahsoka season 2, it sounds fantastic.
Oh, totally. Yeah.
Also, we're gonna see more Hera,we're gonna see more Ezra, more
Chopper, the Nazi are back. And the best part, Hayden

(25:39):
Christensen is returning again for season 2.
So we're gonna get more flash packs with, I'm assuming with
with Hayden Christensen. And that is just.
I cannot wait. I believe somebody said Ahsoka's
got all those recordings of Anakin, so it is only natural

(26:02):
that you'll see him as a hologram teaching her stuff.
But here's here's what I'm goingto throw out here.
So it seems like Mortis trilogy may be playing a very big part
in Ahsoka season 2. Do you think we may see the sun
in some some way, shape or form?Oh, I would love to.

(26:25):
I would love to see the mortise gods in in season.
I would. I was just thinking that because
you've got Sam, what we're coming back and they show the
father sitting there in full stature as as a rock.
And yes, you see the daughter basically broken.
But when you're thinking about this and the Mortal trilogy is
going to be playing that big of a part, who's to say they can't

(26:46):
theoretically somehow bring thatback?
And as Hayden Christian is coming back as Anakin, who's to
say that somehow, someway, in this adult speculation, you and
McGregor as well, to do a flashback with all three of them
on the mortise planet? Oh, Tom, that'd be so cool.
That'd be so cool. I'll look about it as well in
the show. Cause nothing says they can't do

(27:10):
that. Yeah, yeah, you're right.
There's all sorts of things theycan do well.
I am very very excited for Ahsoka Season 2.
Oh my. I think that's really our that's
our next big live act. We have no no other live action
shows after Andor for the rest of the year so.

(27:31):
It it I think from that point it's just going to be animation
from that point until the next and even animation.
We have a bit of a break this year, so it's going to be a
little bit of a quieter, you know, next probably 9-10 months.
Yeah, before, before the next wave of stuff launches.

(27:52):
I I suspect Mall Shadow Company is going to premiere February,
maybe March. Yeah, we'll see.
Yeah, we'll. We'll see.
We'll make the announcement, yeah.
Speaking of Andor, Andor Season 2, of course, premieres on
Tuesday the 22nd. That's just two days away.
As we're recording this, and hopefully as you're listening to

(28:13):
this, if you're listening on theday we drop this episode, that
means where you know, they had awhole panel on and or it was the
the marquee panel for the Saturday morning.
There's a lot we could talk about, but I think we're going
to save it 'cause they spent an hour teasing and or season 2 and
talking about how great it is. But we actually have our full

(28:39):
spoiler free review of the firstthe entire 12 episode season
dropping tomorrow morning on Monday.
So we've actually already recorded it.
So instead of instead of recapping the Andor panel, we're
just going to say stay tuned fortomorrow, where we'll give you a
spoiler free review of the series, followed by our spoiler

(29:04):
filled discussion of the first 3episode arc on Tuesday the 22nd
right after the episode's release.
So yeah, I think it's, rather than spend a bunch of time here,
we'll just ask you to wait one day.
Yeah, one day. It's gonna be hard.
Yeah, it's gonna be. So hard to talk about this and
not talk about the show. Exactly.

(29:26):
But so just this was a pro. Episode to drop.
Exactly, but there was a really cool stat they actually in
shared there were in season 2 a 140 sets, 24 locations, 700
costumes for the principals alone, 156 creatures, 40 droids,

(29:46):
and over 4100 visual effects shots.
Wow, that's impressive. That's impressive And then also
looks like they had great care in putting this whole thing
together and knew what they weredoing.
Oh yes, and. And you could, you could tell
they loved every minute of it from this, from this.
I got to stop. Hey, it's social impressions are

(30:08):
already out, right? I guess I think you can.
You can safely we can safely saywe loved the season.
And Oh my God, it's so good. Come back tomorrow for our full
thoughts where Tom, Steve and I are going to, you know, give you
a spoiler free review of the 12 episode season.

(30:28):
I'm going to say this, if you thought season 1 was good, Oh my
God, hold on to your hats for season 2.
Yes, yes. And they did premiere the first,
the first of the three episodes that are dropping on Tuesday at
Star Wars Celebration for fans to to watch.
So that that's really cool. I love when they do the
premieres in person. Everyone can enjoy them
together. Yep.

(30:50):
Oh, let's see another one. Star Wars Visions.
They had a Visions Volume 3 headlined the Sunday morning
panel, and they went through a bunch of the different shorts.
There's so much that I don't think we're gonna go through all
of them here. But the the big news is that
October 29th is when Volume 3 drops.
And even bigger news, they're doing a spinoff of Star Wars

(31:13):
Visions called Star Wars VisionsPresents the 9th Jedi.
It's a whole series massage season unclear that will debut
in 2026 that it takes place after the season 1 episode the
9th Jedi. That was I think my favorite of

(31:34):
this or one of my favorites of the Star Wars visions shorts in
season 1. So I mean, Visions has never
really been my cup of tea just because it's I'm not a huge fan
of anime and it's nothing against the artists, the artists
are incredibly talented. It's just not my personal

(31:54):
preference. And how it's a little more like
exaggerated and over the top andstuff.
And the fact that they're not like actually Canon.
And so parties like, ah, it justfeels like fan fiction.
Nothing against the incredible creators who who work on it and
I enjoy watching it, but it's like not something I, you know,
get super excited about. But there is a spinoff coming in

(32:18):
2026 as. Well, yeah, I I kind of agree
with you. I mean, I can't, I can't really
remember many of the Star Wars Vision episodes.
I think the only one that maybe I remember because they had the
puppets there was the one that was done by the creators of
Wallace and Gromit. I like that one that.
One was cute, that 1 was great. OK that was cute and and I

(32:39):
enjoyed it. But when it comes to any of the
other ones, I'm like, I can't even remember which one the 9th
Jedi was. I do remember there was one I
think from the first season I would have liked to have seen
carry on for a a series. I doubt that this 9th Jedi was
it. Yeah, I'm I will watch it.
I will probably find a couple that I like.

(33:00):
But I agree. I'm just not, I'm not into the
the that kind of style and you know.
It. Is good storytelling for what it
is. Yeah, it just doesn't feel like
Star Wars completely. And I think that's kind of what
like I'm like, I like, I don't mind when they do spin offs or
if it's like, you know, humor, like comedy or they're making

(33:20):
fun of Star Wars or, but when it's just like, oh, here's an
anime series, It's kind of it's pretty serious, but it's not
actually fitting into the Canon. It's just like, well, what are
you? What's the, what's the point
personally? So this this news visions volume
three. I was not, I'm not terribly
excited about, well, of course, watch it and review it and the
9th Jedi. I'm like, OK, I guess we got

(33:43):
another. I guess I can't complain about
having more Star Wars content, but doesn't really feel like
Star Wars content in my mind. So yeah, that's kind of where
I'm at there. But Speaking of humor.
I agree with you. Humor though Lego Star Wars
Rebuild the Galaxy pieces of thepast is coming out on September
19th. And this is a prime example of

(34:06):
where I think obviously LEGO's Star Wars not going to be
something that is Canon, right? But it's funny and enjoyable and
light hearted. I think that kind of mixture
works super well. And we're going to see
Chewbacca. We're going to see Jackson from
the comics. Signaugh has a light Saber.

(34:26):
We're going to see Ahsoka with Ashley Eckstein reprising her
role. So excited as a brick head.
Yeah, Tom, your thoughts on Rebuild the Galaxy, Peace of the
Past? This is the Lego Star Wars has
always captured my attention because it's got very funny.
It's just it's it's a whit aboutit that makes it enjoyable to

(34:49):
watch. I love the Lego specials.
I love playing the Lego game because there's the little
quirks about it. I'm more excited about this.
I will be watching this I I evenenjoyed Remember the Freemaker
Adventures That was a Freemaker series.
Phenomenal. Yeah.
So this is something that's like, I'm, I want to see what

(35:10):
they're doing with it because itseems like they are going to
rebuild the Star Wars Galaxy piece by piece and think about
it, get the joke piece by piece because it's Lego and they're
rebuilding it now. So good.
So it's it works and I'm lookingforward to this.
I will be waiting in front of it's Disney Plus right?
Yep. Oh yeah, yeah.

(35:31):
I'll be watching it the day it drops.
Yep, it's it's really good. It's really good.
It should be very fun. Yeah, yeah, they they also had,
you know, they just released theLight and Magic season season 2,
which we did a a little mini review in our spoiler free
impressions of the Andor, the episode where we do the spoiler
free review of Andor as well. So definitely check that out.

(35:55):
Let's see, on the book side of things, I actually didn't think
we talked about this. It was announced since our last
episode, Adam Christopher is going to be writing a new novel
all about Vader prior to A New Hope called Master of Evil and
it comes out in November 11th. That one looks really cool.
I'm excited about that and I like Adam Christopher's last
book. We're getting an Acolyte spin

(36:18):
off book, Acolyte, The Crystal Crown featuring Jackie and Yard
before the events of the series. We're getting Art of Andor and
Art of Acolyte in March and October respectively.
We already knew as an Acolyte visual guide, so that's still
coming up. And some art, you know, nice
books about ILM, 50 Years of Innovation and Doug Chang

(36:41):
cinematic and Star Wars Legacy and a ton of new Star Wars
comics. So some good books there.
In the publishing side, I think Master of Evil is.
It was announced before Celebration, but I think sticks
out and is the most exciting to me personally.
That is the one I'm looking forward to.
Out of all of that art of books,I have so many of them I've

(37:01):
stopped collecting any. Oh, I love the art of books.
I read them all. I buy them all.
I would love the Andor book. I think that would be amazing.
But yeah, I've got I've got so many of them.
I, I just, I, I can't buy anymore.
It's so hard with all these books, but the Mr. Evil one I'm
definitely going to get 'cause that one sounds really good.

(37:22):
And it's it's too bad Steven is not here 'cause there was some
great video game news too. We got the announcement of the
title earlier this week and the first trailer in details about
Star Wars Zero Company, a turn based strategy game from
Bitreactor and Respawn coming out next year in 2026.

(37:46):
The game's description, Zero Company features a gritty and
authentic original story set in the twilight of the Clone Wars
that puts players in control of Hawks, a former Republic officer
who's in charge of an elite squad of cunning operatives.
As an unconventional outfit of professionals for hire hailing
from across the Galaxy, 0 Company must set aside their
differences to take on an emerging threat that will
consume the Galaxy if left unchecked.

(38:11):
And you're going to see the influence of the political
intrigue in Andor, the gritty battles in Rogue One, the wit
and wisdom and New Hope. And so it just, it sounds
really, really, really cool. I'm very excited about this
game. Turn based strategy games are
not my always my favorite genre, but I I'm excited for this.

(38:31):
This is sounds like a really a really cool game.
There are days in which I keep telling myself I need to get
myself a game system and play some of these because this does
sound intriguing, along with, again, Lego Star Wars.
And this way, the three of us can review these games instead
of you and Steven. Always right now we'll, we'll
have to play. We can, we can do some, some

(38:53):
strategic battles together, Tom.Gotta figure this out I.
Exactly I, I. Go back and forth about this.
I may have to break down and buythis.
I think you might have to. I think you might have to, but
yeah, it looks cool. I mean, Gordy Hobb, he always
has the music for the games, andhe's back doing the soundtrack.
Hawks is going to be completely customizable.

(39:15):
Hawks could be. You could be a human, an alien,
even a Droid, which looks cool and you're going to have a we'll
meet other characters like M3 VOor Mevo is how he's pronounced
your Droid pilot on the ship Kaizen.
Some other characters trick who's a clone soldier who's
lacronic wit makes a haunted masks a haunted heart Luco

(39:38):
Bronc, who is an incendiary sharpshooter who stalls it
forgot forgiven the Republic forinvading his home world of
Ambara. That's cool.
Interesting. Kly Caldero, infamous
Mandalorian gunslinger and one of the last surviving members of
the ancient clan Verminoth, and tell a Tog Nath Jedi Padawan on
a quest to complete her fallen master's last mission.

(40:02):
So it looks kind of cool. Cool group.
I am excited. We're going to see, of course,
the Rings of Kafrin. That's where your base is called
The Den. We're going to see Shampala,
Sara Leonas from the Bad Batch, Vandor from Solo, Mapuzzo from
Kenobi and Axis and much more. So it looks like a really,
really fun game. And Tom, another reason for you

(40:25):
get. I love Hondo.
So Hondo is back in Star Wars Outlaws, A Pirate's Fortune,
releasing May 15th, just in timefor my birthday, which I
appreciate. Thank you Ubisoft, and it's
going to take place in the Kepi system.
And it's a new downloadable content for Star Wars Outlaws in

(40:47):
which K Vest and Nick's team up with a legendary Hondo on the
car on a journey that packs picks up.
After the completion of the mainstoryline of the base game,
They'll face off against Stringer Tash and her Rakonda
Raiders, infiltrating the Kepi Tomb to uncover the secrets and
hidden treasures it holds. Along the way, they'll discover
the Mayuki Trade League, who offer new rewards for the

(41:07):
Trailblazer in exchange for competing, completing contracts
to smuggle dangerous goods across the Galaxy.
I really like Star Wars Outlaws.I know it's not a perfect game
necessarily, but it's a lot of fun and they've continued to
improve it after launch and so I'm very excited to dive back
into Star Wars Outlaws on May 15th.

(41:30):
It's intriguing for me because it's Hondo Anaka.
Just to hear is wisecracking again because we we have to go
to, we have to do Smugglers Run to hear Hondo.
I would love to see him come back and do an animated series
again and just hear the wisecracks of Hondo.
Yeah, you know, such a great character.
He's the best. I love Hondo.

(41:51):
Yeah. You can't get, you can't get
better than Hondo. No, you can't.
You cannot. No, well, I I think that about
wraps up the celebration news. It was we got some nice
announcements. I wouldn't say it's the biggest
celebration right now, but you know, it's it's always it's

(42:14):
always at a wonderful time. I love being at celebration.
I was so bummed to miss this andI am excited to re gather gather
with you and ever all of our listeners and ever all the other
Star Wars fans at Star Wars Celebration in 2027.
Yeah. I mean, for me, there's really

(42:34):
no excuse not to be at this one.No, because it is kind of down
the freeway, although I can blame traffic.
I yeah, I expect you to be there, Tom.
Yeah, no, I, I have a feeling because, because even my son
Eric is like, we're going to go.It's like, are you going to live
here three years away, son, anyway.

(42:54):
But yeah, I'm, I'm looking forward to it.
I, I'm, I again, I really wish it was down in Anaheim, but I, I
can live with it being closer tohome.
So it's it's not that bad. Same and I am so excited for
tales of the underworld as well.I we didn't dive into it too
much. I realized we, we mentioned we,
we said we're going to do it on our spoiler free review and talk
about it in our celebration recap.

(43:16):
Star Wars tale. The Tales of the Underworld
comes out in just like 2 weeks Ithink as we're listening to this
two. Weeks.
And it's a Saj, Ventris, CAD Bane.
I cannot wait. 2-2 phenomenal characters.
Hondo and CAD Bane are two of myfavorite characters to come out
of Clone Wars, along with Ahsoka.

(43:38):
And so I'm so excited we're getting a CAD Bane centric, a
set of three episodes. I think for me, out of these,
it's got to be a Saj Ventris because I really want to know
because of the book how she survives and even she hints at
it and how she ends up having, you know, the the how she now

(44:01):
becomes the bounty hunter with the yellow blade.
I want it. I want to see the back story for
her at this point. And I think, and I'm hoping this
is where we're going to get the answer.
Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I think so.
I'm looking forward to this. Yep.
Well, I think that wraps up our recap of Star Wars Celebration

(44:22):
Japan. It was another celebration in
the books. I am very excited to to to join
you again in 2027. But in the meantime, there's
some great stuff coming in the next two years.
I'm glad they're taking a littlemore measured approach.
Not too much content, but still a good amount so.

(44:43):
Yeah, I I appreciate that. I just really make sure that you
get the scripts, the ideas and everything down before you start
going into production because the one thing right now is you
just don't want the people to start burning out on this with
bad stories. Get the stories done first.
Get the idea out there, get it right before you actually start
going into production and then get it out and make it again.

(45:07):
Please make the films event films again and not back-to-back
to back. Yes, and Speaking of great
writing, Star Wars Andor premieres in two days.
It's phenomenal writing. Check back tomorrow morning for
our spoiler free review and eachweek after that for our spoiler
filled discussion and recaps of each episode.

(45:32):
It's it's so awesome and I cannot wait to discuss it with
all of you. I just want to hear everybody's
reaction. I I want to see it through the
game. I hate to see it after each of
the three episodes in each SEC. I want to hear the reaction, but
I want to hear the fans reactionwhen it's all over.
Yeah, that's what I'm really looking forward to.

(45:54):
I'm going to stop right there. Well, I think that wraps it up
for today, but thank you all forlistening and we'll be back
tomorrow with our spoiler free review of Andor Season 2.
