(00:02):
It's the moment you didn't know you're waiting for.
He is Carter. He's Chad.
And this is. The Irish 365 Podcast Hi,
welcome into the Irish 365 Podcast.
We got ourselves a Texas A&M preview.
We're coming off a bye week. We're feeling maybe a little
better than we were off the lastspot.
I don't know about you guys, butwe're ready for this game week

(00:22):
for sure. Yeah, I would say I'm definitely
feeling better, but anxious because I didn't think we, I
felt like A&M was a team we could lose to going into the
season and now it's a must win game for us.
So definitely more anxious. How about you, Jordan?
Yeah, I agree. I think I'm excited just for
Notre Dame to get back on the field and play.
So because right now we just gota one game sample size and

(00:43):
people are still, you know what's going on.
So yeah, I mean, it's definitelyeasy to be all negative after
one game and try not to take anything positive.
You lost that game to a very good Miami team who won this
week or won this past weekend. And it has another big game
coming up against, who would have thought USF.
So that'll be a that'll be an interesting one for Miami.
So we look forward to following that one on The CW Network.

(01:04):
When did they start getting football?
I mean, they had a game this past weekend where I was
watching. I was like, CW has football.
But anyways, yeah, I mean, it's definitely like we said, we felt
like Notre Dame could split Miami A&M pre season.
Our our gut. I think all three of us said we
thought we'd probably better chance of losing to A&M than
Miami. So yeah, after losing to Miami,

(01:25):
you're like, uh oh, uh Oh yeah. I mean, that's, that's obviously
everyone's instant reactions andA&M's been a good, has a good
team, has an IO good coaching staff.
Yeah. I mean, I don't think there's
much more positive today by any of they they've they've got a
good football team. Yeah, We knew they'd be good in
the last year. We knew they'd be good by the
end of the season. Kind of felt that way about

(01:46):
Miami, that Miami might strugglea little early, then they'd find
their footing. They'd be much better, you know.
And so I still believe that. I still believe Miami's going to
be a better team at the end of the season.
Oh, yeah, Now, I don't know. And to put a bow on Miami, I
don't know if they will lose focus at some point during the
season and that'll cost them a game they shouldn't lose, much
like us with NIU last year. But I think Miami's a good team

(02:08):
and I think it's definitely a College Football Playoff team if
they stay focused and they and they, yeah, especially with the
cake, if you would. Yeah, especially with the other
ACC teams are doing. But yeah, I mean, we can get
into Notre Dame's bye week. Yeah, and, and going into the
bye week, I think it's interesting 'cause I, you know,
all the emotion you had of losing, not playing well, what
the heck happened? And, and the things I think was
most frustrating about that lossto Miami was the fact that the

(02:31):
two strengths that I felt shouldhave been our strengths let us
down offensive line, defensive backs.
And that's, that's like, OK, that's we had a bad game on
those two fronts. Either the entire season last
year was an apparition or that was just one bad game.
And I'm like, hey, that's one bad game.
So then you you say, OK, well, they got to correct it.
Is this coaching? Is this correctable?

(02:51):
Is this is this play? Is it effort?
And I felt like as much as anything, it was kind of an
effort thing, like guys just notbeing focused, guys kind of
being distracted. And you go into the Dubai week
this week and Notre Dame media has been very silent.
I was going to say, yeah, not quite a whole lot of action
coming out which which you kind of thought could be loud after a

(03:12):
week one loss like that, right? Yeah, but I think it's good.
It's circle the troops, get everybody together.
We got 1 mission, one goal, get everybody focused.
I think that's that's got to be the that has to be what Marcus
Freeman's doing. I don't know that's what he's
doing, but that has to be what he's doing is gathering
everybody together and saying backs against the wall, US
against the world. Now we got to roll.
And that could be a good thing that that could be much like the

(03:35):
Purdue. We could come out against A&M
much like we came out against Purdue last year, or we may come
out and struggle and I don't know.
I'm I'm going to be nervous all day Saturday walking around
campus until that ball kicks off.
I don't feel I felt confident this time last week or two weeks
ago going into Miami, like we'regoing to win.
We're going to win big. I don't have that confidence
going into this game. I'm going to be a little nervous
so. Yeah.
I mean, it's just one of those things where you want to have

(03:58):
all this optimism for this game, right?
Like home opener, another big opponent coming in, crowd's
going to be into the game. I just think about that last
home game we had against IU where the crowd was just rock
and it's another night game. It's not supposed to be murder
and hot this weekend in South Bend.
High 70s, low 80s. It's it's going to be beautiful.
But yeah, Notre Dame doesn't look great in home openers under

(04:18):
Marcus Freeman coming off a lossfor the defense, doesn't look as
great. Can the old line block and SEC
defensive front. Oh well, I guess we got to find
out, right? Well, that'll be the
interesting, that'll be the interesting thing and that'll be
the challenge. And I think, you know, if you've
watched any of the A&M last couple of weeks, we can start
getting in the A and MI guess, unless we want to talk about the
lack of noise coming out of South Bend a little longer

(04:40):
'cause we did talk about this off air, but we'll talk about it
now. I guess.
The whole Shing Gillis Luke Bryan concert going on and
you're not seeing anything posted related to the Notre Dame
players. Yeah, I did not Like they're not
popping up anywhere. And it's like, that's kind of
interesting. Yeah, I didn't see anyone pop up
on stage. I saw maybe one or two players
post pictures at the concert, but I definitely, definitely

(05:03):
wasn't one of those things. We saw every guy in a suite and.
They're they're definitely low key, Yep, focused on, I hope
they're focused on A&M, Yep, is what we're seeing, yeah.
So and I don't care if they wentto the concert but it's just
interesting not seeing them all post.
They're definitely trying to stay lay low and you know what I
mean? Like they're if they went to the
concert the other day off, good for them.
But it's just one of those things where you don't see a
bunch of them posting about it. They'll be trying to blend in,

(05:26):
stay under the radar right now it seems like in my opinion.
Yeah, as a 18 to 20 year old kid, if you're in a big show
like that, putting on your Instagram, yeah, it's pretty
common. Whatever, just it's life.
It's not anything distraction, it's life.
And they're not doing that says OK, yeah, I maybe I'm reading
too much into that, but to me it's more focused.
So at least I hope that's, that's my hope, you know, give

(05:48):
me hope. It's the hope that kills you,
but at least give me hope. All.
Right, so yeah, A and MI think that's a heck of a challenge and
I guess we watched some A and MIknow Jordan, you and I did for
sure. Carter didn't get to watch much
yesterday, this weekend, I should say.
But my take away from A&M, if I was going to sum them up real
quick and what little I've done research on A&M, you know the

(06:11):
good team, a lot of good things going on building on last year.
I'm a huge fan of Elko. So, but this is a more talented,
you need to go back to Duke whenthey had Riley Leonard and
almost beat Notre Dame. This is a more talented version
of that Duke team in the style of play and the way that in the
way they are, they're going to come at us.
So I think that makes them a very dangerous, very scary team

(06:31):
on a lot of different fronts. So what's, what's your take on
them, Jordan? Yeah, I think, you know, Marcel
Reed kind of took over midway through the season last year
kind of full time. So then having a whole offseason
to kind of help grow kind of like you said.
And then when we did kind of thepreview show with their team, I
had them as a run heavy team that I didn't think they would

(06:53):
pass very much. And man, that was completely
wrong. Their narrative the last two
weeks has been and. They've got.
Great ball. Well, yes, that's the crazy part
and I'm like, you know, that's what makes them scary is they're
really good right now throwing the ball and they have good
running backs. They just haven't really had to
utilize them yet. So, and I don't know if that's
just due to their opponents yet,not to say anything that UTSA or

(07:16):
Utah State or you know, but still I don't think they've been
challenged. So they've been able to throw
the ball. Yeah.
Those teams don't have the depthof athlete that they're going to
get into in the the SEC skis. And but A&M's averaging 5 yards
a carry as a team. Yeah.
Now, the quarterback's a mobile quarterback and I think he's
averaging like 7 yards of carry or something.

(07:37):
Ridiculous. He's averaging 5.8 after
yesterday. But yeah, I mean, he's he's
their leading rusher, 18 carries, 105 yards, 5.8 yards
per carry, 24 yards long and only one rushing.
But it's also a thing where I'm like, I is A&M want to rely on
the run more. But do those first two weeks
they could pass the ball on their teams, get the receivers
confident, not show necessarily what they want to show for the

(07:58):
rest of the ICC and maybe Notre Dame those first two weeks.
Well, or is it just game plan? This is the this is the way we
can beat this team. This is what we're going to do.
And again, I think they got the mobile quarterback who's pretty
good, pretty good throwing the ball.
So that makes him dual threaten, that makes him dangerous.
So anyway, I guess what do we think?

(08:18):
What do we think at this point from the A&M perspective?
What's what do we think their game plan is going to be to get
to get and that's why I don't know what I'm I'm curious you
guys thoughts. Yeah, I think Marcel Reed, I
mean, 41 for 62 this year, 509 yards, 66% completion rate and
8.2 yards. I mean, a completion for him is
just he's at a hot start to thisyear.

(08:39):
I think obviously not having twomainstream opponents is kind of
hurt him. Like this dude, this team's been
balling, but he got shaken up atthe end of that last game,
didn't come back in the game. Elkos came out, said he's fine,
he's good to play. So that'll be interesting
because Milos O'Neill definitelynot as athletic who came out for
him. I would be huge if he ended up

(09:00):
playing against Nerdam because yeah, he's definitely a lot less
dual threat. I think he got sacked once or
twice, didn't escape anything. Yeah, held on to the stayed in
the pocket. Held on if I'm A&M after if
you're watching the nerd in Miami, I mean you've got to
you've got to make the nerd in defense show you they can stop
you running the ball. Miami ran over us they threw
across it. I mean, you just, it's got to be

(09:22):
balanced attack. I think in you got to make Notre
Dame see what they can stop and then what they can't stop, go
after them. I think the first quarter is
going to be a pretty even split of passes and run for A&M and
then whatever we're struggling with, that's what they're going
to attack. Elko's a smart guy.
I mean, yeah, you you'd have to imagine for the Notre Dame
defense, the defensive line run game and the corners aren't

(09:42):
going to both struggle again. Now with a corner struggle
because the defensive line can'tget home, could happen.
I mean, you're relying on him. But yeah, I think I think the
corners are going to be better. But that doesn't mean Marcel
Reed can't just go scramble if we got good coverage downfield
for not getting pressure on him.Yeah, that's so I wrote down a
couple points. Marcel Reed throwing the

(10:04):
playmakers in space. That's kind of what they want to
do. They want to get the ball out
and you know, it's it's a small sample size once again with the
Miami, But when they did those bunch receivers and they kind of
got a guy out and open and got him the ball.
That's what I think Texas AM is going to do because they got
three guys that you know, can take the top off.
And that was the other point is they can hit home runs pretty

(10:26):
easily and they've done that. They've had some really long
touchdowns. They want to limit their three
and outs and keep pressure off Reed.
But also with that kind of when I was watching him yesterday,
you know, he he's going to look to throw, but he likes to run.
And when the pocket breaks down,he wants to get out.
So that's why I was thinking from Notre Dame's perspective,

(10:46):
you know, you're going to have to maybe try to spy him or
figure out how to contain him and don't let him run if you do
have good health in the secondary, locking down the
receiver. So that's just from Texas A&M
offensive side. From defensive side, I think
they want to run the ball or sorry, stop the run first
against Notre Dame, get Notre Dame in 3rd and long.

(11:09):
I think, I don't know if you sawthat yesterday, but they had one
guy in three straight plays. He had a sack and he was just
dominating the left tackle. So and York, you're going to see
him. He's a sideline to sideline
linebacker. They're going to use him to run
the to stop the run but also blitz.
And he you know, he's a little tank when you see him out there

(11:32):
and he was playing borderline, I'm going to say like aggressive
after he made some tackles was really hyped and I was the team
was trying to calm him down. So but he kind of see he's their
captain on the defense and kind of makes him go.
High emotion player for sure andand the question is, is he so
high emotion he could he could walk himself into a stupid
penalty. Yep, yeah.

(11:53):
So yeah, from what I saw offensively for A and MI agree
with you guys, it's going to be try and spread us out
defensively, throwing the ball and then take advantage of
running. And I think they're going to try
and force us into a man situation.
And what you're going to see from Reed is the moment our
corners turn their backs to the quarterback, take their eyes off
of him because that's the advantage of playing the zone.

(12:13):
As you keep your eyes on the quarterback, you play man, which
I think we're going to have to do to bring pressure.
Our corners are going to turn their back and he's going to
take off running and and that's just going to give him longer,
bigger, more opportunity runs. And I think they're going to try
and use their running backs between between tackles, between
guards. So I think that's going to be
it. Now, the interesting thing
offensively I saw for Notre Dameopportunity was I think A&M was

(12:36):
kind of like us. They're a little weak in the
defensive tackle area. I thought, I thought, you know,
Utah State and both both teams they played had opportunities
and were taking advantage of running between guard, guard
center. And I think we can make those
opportunities. I mean, I think if I'm Notre
Dame game planning going into this, I'm going to try and get
Price and Love carries up the middle.

(12:57):
And when they try and overload the box, I'm going to start
letting CJ Carter throw to the outside in the edges and maybe
take a shot or two downfield. Because I think there's a recipe
there for Notre Dame to to kind of get balanced.
And I saw the stat and I didn't go back and look it up, but
someone was saying that the lowest number of carries that
Jeremiah Love had last year was against NIU and that's the game
we lost. We had like 5 carries or

(13:19):
something like that. And so anyway, it's like, OK,
are we going to have Jeremiah Love with only 10 carries 2
games in a row? So here's my question for you.
I won't go love. How many carries do you have
price, but how many combined carries?
What do you think they need? Or combined touches, let's say.
Like what would make their own fans happy?

(13:39):
It's got to be over 25. Yeah, no, obviously I went.
But yeah, I I think 25's got to be the number for those two.
Yeah, if we're talking the two of them combined a minimum. 25
to 30. 2525 touches minimum. I would agree between receiving,
receiving catches and running, yeah.
I think 25's got to be the minimum week in week out.

(14:02):
These guys need 25 touches between the two of them.
You you got to get those two guys the ball.
I mean, Price did not play much. This thing happened.
He was the the hot back in the end of the first half yeah.
So yeah, I mean, and they both scored, I believe last year
against A&M, if I remember correctly, They both played
pretty well. And I think Price had the run
were kind of up the middle then bounced it outside and went, I

(14:25):
mean, it was, it wasn't a sweep around the end.
It was a yeah. I mean, yeah, I like both.
Obviously I like both Price and Love, but Price seems to have
more of that. Bounce it outside and go.
Love's going to go hurdle you and then embarrass you.
And they both have such great strength.
They're so fun to watch. But yeah, they've got to get
touches this week. That's that's got to be the key
for the third game offense. And then, yeah, how much more do

(14:47):
we let CJ Carr play since we're at home this week, right?
He's still a young quarterback to show that, but he's at home.
He's not obviously on the road. You're going to be a little more
conservative. You're playing a good defense,
but you got to let him, got to let him do something more than a
screen pass, right? He showed he can throw the ball
down field. He showed he can make plays when
he's under pressure. Obviously if you're under three
guys collapsing all at once, youcan't do anything, but he can be

(15:09):
the guy with his feet a little bit.
So yeah. And we had to see how much more
Den Brock let's car throw down the field this week.
Well, yeah, for sure. I think the throws were RP OS.
You know, we, we talked about itlast week, a lot of screens, a
lot of screens, a lot of screensgoing back, rewatching the game,
digesting it, it was a lot of RPOS.
And so at first I'm like, are wejust throwing screens because we

(15:31):
don't have confidence in the line?
And it's like, no, I don't thinkthat's what it was as much.
Now running the RPO, you have topass block.
You don't know if it's a run or pass.
I, I, I just they need to say we're going to line up, but CJI
don't care what you read. Hand the ball off.
I I don't know what CJ like whathis cue was, you know, you know,
look at where the NS playing or how many guys are in the box.

(15:52):
Like he had some read he was making pre snap post snap,
deciding it was a throw versus arun.
I don't know what they had in queuing on, but I think he
probably has a lot of confidencein his arm and he's not afraid
to sling it. And that's what I saw coming out
of that. Like, OK, so now I think you
just have to call you have you can look like an RPO, but you
say hand it off. I don't care what hand it off.

(16:13):
I think that just he needs some clear direction.
I think those little things Denbrock can fix pretty quickly.
Yeah. And I, I laugh because everybody
was talking fire Denbrock and fire Ash and you know that those
noises were coming from the fringe Notre Dame fans last
week. It's like, come on, we haven't
gotten that much worse. Yeah, it wasn't our best game.
We didn't play well. Credit Miami for playing very
well. But yeah, we didn't play.

(16:34):
We didn't play that bad. So, yeah, I'm.
I'm with you. I think we just have to have
some set runs. They don't have to look like set
runs coming in, but some set runs.
And then I think we have to let CJ take a shot or two downfield.
Yeah, I mean, let him use his arm, but yeah, we can't have
Rared End being or whoever beingour tight ends, being our
freaking #1 receiver for the game.
Yeah, like that's just, it's notgoing to win US a game with kind

(16:55):
of with 90 yards. And yeah, we've got some
explosive guys that made some plays, like Faison started good.
Malkai Fields obviously fumble, his first one made a good catch
though. I mean, we didn't see anything
from Will Paulding. We've heard great, great, great.
House didn't do much. I mean, we've got weapons, which
is just unusual like on the outside for Notre Dame.
So I mean, I we got to get them involved and then you got the
two main horses in the backfield.

(17:16):
Just got to got to share the rock.
There's only one football. That's the hard part, right?
No matter, no matter if we win this game four to nothing,
someone's going to say someone didn't get involved enough.
But I think that's the great thing.
They don't have to. Not every guy on the office has
to play their best game for us to put up some points.
Yeah, yeah. Lloyd Carr, go back to when he
coached Michigan, he loved good quarterback play.
He loved good running back play, more importantly.

(17:38):
So I just opened Grandpa called CJ and said, hey, young man,
yeah, you, you could do a lot better just handing that ball
off to that guy in #4 yeah. So maybe we'll see that.
I don't know. Sorry we got into keys of the
game, but I know or what's the strengths of A&M.
But Jordan, I know you had some stuff on special teams here this
week. Yeah.

(17:59):
So I think Texas A&M with their kind of wide receivers, they've
had two different guys back there returning punts.
And when those guys, I mean, they can take it to the house.
I think they did in Week 1. And they even had two good
returns the other day. So I, I think Notre Dame's
punting last year, I think we kind of even joked about it

(18:19):
early in the season last year, not being, you know, it took
them a while to kind of to get going.
But I'd be fine with kicking directional away or even like
keeping it out of their hands, you know, try to pin him or go
go out of bounds just because I don't want to give them another,
another way to flip the field orany ways for them to score

(18:40):
points. Because I think, you know, they
put up over 40 the past two weeks.
And I think if we can try to limit those additional plays,
then that'll be additional keys that Notre Dame needs to win.
Yeah, and then another interesting thing.
Jared Zirkel is their kicker. He's missed an extra point this
year and he's only one for two on field goals.

(19:01):
Oh, my bad. No, he's perfect on field goals.
So yeah, I just. But he hasn't had to do a whole
lot. No, he's one for two.
My bad. I'm reading my notes wrong.
He's one for two on field goals.Hasn't had to kick much.
Hostile environment with that play factor in this game.
Yeah, I think it will a little bit.
I don't think the noise will affect A and MI think Notre Dame
will be loud. I don't know if the noise will
affect A&M. And my take away from Kyle Field

(19:23):
last year was it was loud, but even when A&M had the ball, it
was loud. Like it just didn't it's, I
don't know, it just it wasn't high, high IQ football fan.
And then I I don't want to say that because I respect the heck
out of the A&M fans, but you know, when your team has the.
Ball, they were juiced. It was week one, yeah.
But when your team has the ball on offense, you usually dial it
down enough that you don't, you don't create a false start, you

(19:45):
know, on your own team. But they were dialed without a
little bit, but they were still pretty loud.
I mean, the 12th man was loud the entire game.
So I think that'll be AI. Don't think the Notre Dame crowd
will disrupt A&M as much, even though I think the Notre Dame
crowd will be loud. But when you pay attention,
Notre Dame. Fans, typically we get a little
quieter when our offense is on, has the ball.
You know, then there's a cheer after the play and then, you

(20:06):
know, it's quiet while they're getting, you know, they're
getting the play in. But then defensively, they
usually usually a little too late.
Sometimes in the Notre Dame crowd, like it's like, OK, get
down to 11 seconds, then they start ramping up the noise in
the play clock. It's like we got to get a little
louder, make it. But with with microphones and
speakers in the helmet and everything else, maybe that's
not as critical as it used to beas far as disrupting into the

(20:27):
plan. But I I don't know.
Crowd noise comes into play against A and MI just yeah my my
expectation. I hope it does.
Yeah, I'd love to see a couple of false starts with the crowd
noise. I know it.
Especially getting that North End zone by the student section,
it can get really loud. Yeah, especially if it's
momentum, my big momentum moments.
But yeah, I think that just one thing I'm curious about is how

(20:47):
many AA and M fans are going to make the trip up to South Bend.
They were a great fan base last year.
Like you said, the most hospitable people you ever meet,
the nicest people. So yeah, I'll be interested to
see how many A&M brings up to South Bend.
It just seems like, I mean, Notre Dame often is known for
having a big away away section. So yeah, what does A&M bring?
When we played Texas, it's probably 10 years ago now, but

(21:10):
Texas brought a huge amount of people.
That was opening weekend, holiday weekend.
But yeah, it'll be interesting how many A&M bring.
And yeah, for Notre Dame fan, just they are the nicest people
who ever just be hospitable. That's all I got to say.
Oh. Yeah, I mean, follow the rules,
welcome to Notre Dame, tell themI hope they have a great time,
and then let's kick their butt once they get on the field cause

(21:31):
'cause A&M fans were freaking awesome.
Absolutely. So yeah, it'll be interesting to
see how many people come up fromAggie Land to watch the game.
I know it's a big game. They've had it on their calendar
for a while. They respect tradition and
college football and they know that, you know, Notre Dame is
one of those traditional spots. You got to, you got an
opportunity for your team to go,you're going to go and you're
going to enjoy the heck out of it.
So. Yeah.
All right, so getting into the betting line this week, this

(21:52):
this spreads grown a little bit in the last couple weeks, which
is interesting because I believepre season it was 3 1/2 to 4 1/2
points. Right now sports books got Notre
Dame at -6 1/2 which I don't love.
Didn't know I. Don't like I'm like, oh, I
usually take Notre Dame on the spread.
I but I'm like, I do not love like I would.

(22:13):
I'm tempted. I won't do it.
But if I was going to bet on this one, I'd I'd probably take
A&M 6 1/2 and like, I think Notre Dame wins, we'll get in
the score partition. Of the money line.
Yeah, I, yeah. But the money lines probably.
It's a trash but. Yeah, I'd say not not worth what
I'd be going for there, right? But interesting.
And then so the money lines -218for the Irish, which is not
crazy appealing. It'll be interesting how that

(22:35):
line moves as we get closer to the kickoff.
That's what I want to see. But then the over under at 50
1/2, which I think is an interesting number where I I and
throw up points Notre Dame. But yeah, how's the defense
going to respond to this one? So yeah, both both lines are
interested to me, not ones I'm super excited they jump on
either way. But yeah, as we sit here today,

(22:58):
I mean we can get in the score predictions next if you want.
If it goes over, I think it favors A&M.
Yeah. I really think going under on
the on the. The the over, under, under,
under. I think going under favors Notre
Dame. Yeah, A. 100% yeah, that's kind
of in my notes that I had when Iwas talking looking at the

(23:19):
defense. But my main point that I had was
cannot give up more than 30 points.
I think that's that's the numberin and I say that because I want
to ask you guys like I'm trying to get away from comparing this
team to last year where Notre Dame, I had confidence that they
would start fast and they would get points on the board and then

(23:41):
just suffocate you on defense and they could win.
They they could only they only needed 15 points, you know, 16
points and they beat you. And I don't think that that's
going to be the mindset this year.
I think that maybe we're going to be more on the offensive side
and say, OK, well, you know, we as long as not we're going to
outscore you, but we're just gotto get more points up than we

(24:04):
did last. Year so and I think that's why
it's so it was so easy to take Notre Dame on the spread last
year in so many games because you're like, oh, it's 7 1/2
points. Our defense is only going to let
up 10. We could probably score 20.
Like we don't think our offense are going to light you up, but
our defense is going to not let up that many points where it's
just like where this year now it's like, which I think is the
hardest part about college football nowadays is that a team

(24:24):
is completely different. Like even if you bring back so
many guys, your team changes year to year so much because the
portals, because the coaching changes.
I couldn't change. Always been I think college
football. But I mean you just really till
you show up week 1 like you don't know what you got.
Who are you and what are? You you think you know what you
got? But the fan base, I mean, yeah.

(24:45):
Oh, that was exactly to Jordan'spoint.
My thought going into the Miami game was our defense will do
enough that our offense will geta lead and then we'll force
Miami to get away from their game plan and try and throw the
ball more. We'll be able to, you know,
bring pressure and, you know, force Beck into a bad throat.
Never happened. Beck had all the time in the
world. We never played with the lead.

(25:05):
So, yeah, can we get the lead and can we force A&M into that
situation now? We didn't do that last year at
A&M. It wasn't like we got a lead.
Dogfight. It was a dogfight.
I mean, it was, it was, yeah. And I think this is going to be
another rock fight. I thought, I thought Miami would
be a rock fight in the first half and then it'd break open
second-half, but it didn't. It almost broke open Miami's way
in the second-half and we came back.

(25:26):
So I, I'm expecting this to be alittle bit more of a rock fight.
And I don't, I don't know that we're going to have that same
game that we saw a lot of Notre Dame last year where they they
got a lead and then force the other team to try and play from
behind. And we're able to really set our
defence up where, hey, we can bring, we can bring in the guys
we know they're going to try andthrow the ball.
Our secondary is going to be able to, you know, set back

(25:46):
there and take advantage of it. I don't see that being the game
plan. And in this one, I think it's
going to be OK. We've got to be sound discipline
somewhere between playing good, solid defense, but also being
able to protect that mobile quarterback, that threat.
And do we do we take KVA? Do we take, you know, him and or
do we take Asbury and say, OK, you're going to be spy at this

(26:09):
point, You know, do we do we setup a spy on on the quarterback
and say this, this guy's a runner and he's really dangerous
when he runs. We need an athlete to just track
him down. So because Kingston I think was
one of the bright spots defensively.
We talked about Drake not reallyshowing up last against Miami,
but Kingston showed up and he was he was flying around making
plays. So I think we got to set up

(26:30):
somewhere in that spy situation defensively as well.
And I think if we do that, we can keep A&M to to low.
As output team, we're going to put up some numbers, right?
Like it's just one of those. You don't feel like you're going
to hold them on 100 yards by anymeans, but yeah.
South Bend but Don't Break is going to be in full effect, I
think this weekend. 100% and yeah what can the offense not

(26:51):
turn the ball over again? Honestly one turnover last week,
defence forced no turnovers. Do we see in a situation for 3rd
aim 2? Turnovers last week.
Two turnovers, yes. The fumble and then the
intersection, yes. So nerdy.
Boston turnover by two. Zero is nerdy.
Is there any chance Nerdyn defense doesn't pick up a
turnover this week? I mean, you know, that's been
the point of or. Yeah, that's what they're trying
to do because Freeman was not happy.

(27:12):
They didn't force anything. They had two.
Yeah, A. And M is not going to.
I don't know if they've turned the ball over yet.
This. Year I I would think A&M was
probably going to be more disciplined than most teams we
play. I would expect them to.
Not I, I say. We don't.
Miles O'Neill had a pick on Saturday, but that's I think

(27:32):
it's their only one. Yeah, I don't.
I don't think A&M turns the ballover.
I don't think we get one this week.
Yeah, now that means we can't turn the ball over.
Yeah, I don't I don't think we're both teams have to play
clean. I'll be surprised if A&M turns
the ball over. Fair enough.
Journey. Anything on that one?
No, yeah, I think Notre Dame just has to get pressure on the

(27:52):
quarterback to try to force him into bad, like a bad play,
whether that's a pick or while he's scrambling, you know,
getting his trip sack, because Ifeel like that's maybe your best
shot at getting a turnover. Yeah.
All right. Well, let's get into score
predictions, then we'll get intoour contest for the week.
That sound good? Let's do it.
All right, anyone want to leave yourself with the bullets score
predictions? Man I was so bad last week I

(28:14):
don't even know if I should be even.
I was going to say you, I guess you were the farthest off.
Right. I was.
I was so confident. I thought we were going to blow
Miami out in the second-half andI got egg on my face.
That happens sometimes. When you're yeah, it happens My
my fandom got in the way of my rationality.
I think this game's low scoring and is the way I see it breaking

(28:36):
up is Notre Dame's going to be alittle conservative early.
And I I think it's going to probably go back and forth, but
I'm guessing somewhere around 2421 final score.
OK, and, and who's got 24? I'm not comfortable.
I, I, I honestly feel like this is a game we're going to, I, I

(28:57):
honestly right now, and it's probably the emotion, it's not
as bad as it sounds, but I really think A&M is going to win
this game 21. You're going to A and M20.
Five I know and I hate to say we're going to 1/2 the the the
fan in me says, oh, you can't say that, but I'm I'm trying to
be a little less fan, a little more rational and I think I
think we could drop this game 2421 and I think it's a late
score and I think it's a touchdown late.

(29:19):
I, I don't even, I think it's a 2 minute drive touchdown to go
ahead and my heart's broken and I'm going to be miserable all
the way home on a night game. And you know, my favorite
restaurant's going to be closed. So I want to be able to stop
there. And it's, it's going to just,
nothing's going to go right. So that's where my head's at
right now. Talk me off the ledge, somebody,
please. Well, we don't often have the

(29:40):
same score prediction, but I've also got 2421.
I am leaning Irish right now. I've got the Irish winning, not
covering that 6 1/2 is a steep hill here.
And I just see. I like that it's been silent on
campus this week. Nothing's really been coming out
reporting wise. I think the defense is going to
come hopefully flying around playing that.

(30:01):
We're going to take your head off energy this week and it's
going to be hard for A&M to score.
And yeah, I think I think den Brock's going to know he's got
to get the ball like he's got tomake things.
He's got to play CJ strengths, but make it simpler for him,
right? So he's going to give him a
chance to throw the ball down field when it's there, but we're
going to run the ball, we're going to run the rock.
So yeah, 2421 Irish. Right.

(30:21):
What are you thinking, Jordan? Well, I'm going to put on my
Homer hat here. So I actually have this as a
little bit more of a track meet.I'm I think that we need we need
to put up points because I thinkA&M is going to put up points.
So I have it 3028 Notre Dame kicking a field goal in the last

(30:45):
doing a 2 minute drive at the end, kicking the field goal.
They're going to it's going to boost us into the rest of the
season, you know, kind of getting these two games out of
the way because this is AI mean.I don't want to be, you know,
over dramatic, but it's a must win.
Notre Dame's got to win. We're coming off a bye.
Marcus Freeman's usually pretty good off of a bye.

(31:06):
We didn't talk about that, but yes, he is normally very good
off a bye. Yeah, and I think no vanilla
offense, I think Den Brock's going to have to scheme guys up.
They're going to get guys open and they're going to, we're
going to put up points and they're going to put up points.
But at the end of the day, NotreDame's going to have to get a
stop or marks down late and kicka field goal, and that's going

(31:27):
to set us up for the rest of theseason, so.
It'd be an it'd be an awesome game.
I hope that's what we see. Yeah, you guys storm the field,
you know, Yeah. You think we're storming the
field for A and MI one of the? I hope no one storms the field,
even if we win A&M like in a great walk off walk off kit.
Even then it's not. A be a tough one, but we don't
get fined from a conference. We can do it whenever we want.

(31:48):
That's right. Take that.
Yeah, I think it it'll be interesting in the whole thing.
You know, you talk about coming off the by the team is focused.
Are they focused? How focused are they getting the
playmakers involved making plays?
Like there's a whole bunch of storylines here.
And and I think this is where we're I think Notre Dame can
lose this game and still make the College Football Playoff.

(32:08):
But it's it's we're not in control of our own destiny.
And if we're lucky enough to make the College Football
Playoff, we are on the road. Pack in our bag.
Going on the road, but on the other side of this, if we win
this game, I don't know that I see us as finishing the top 4.
But I don't think that's out of the question to finish because I
again, I could see Miami winningthe ACC.

(32:31):
I mean, Miami's got a got a couple tough games ahead of
them. Clemson hasn't looked this
great, but Florida State's goingto be a huge game.
Florida State will be huge. UCS is really going to be a big
game in my opinion. Yeah, I think it's going to be a
close. One, they have Florida on their
schedule as well. Yeah, I mean, so.
Florida, they play UCF this weekend and then Florida next
weekend if I'm not misting. If Miami wins out their schedule
this year, and I don't know if they will, but if they went out

(32:52):
their schedule, they're clearly going to finish the season #1 in
the country #2 at worst. Yeah, I mean, I don't see.
And if your only loss for Notre Dame, if your only loss is to
the number two team in the country at their stadium by
three, you could be ranked 4th pretty easy at the end of the
season. Like so I, I, we need help from
Miami. I don't know we're going to get
it. I'm not confident that they

(33:12):
won't have their slip. I think they're capable of
winning out their schedule, but if Notre Dame can win the game
against A and MI think we're still in in the talk for have
hosting a first round buy. Oh yeah, first.
Round game, I don't think the buy.
The buy is possible, but I thinkhosting is definitely on the
table for it. Now we lose to A&M and we make
the College Football Playoff. There's no way I see that being

(33:33):
unless A&M does something amazing and they win the SEC.
If we end up with two losses andit's the SEC champ and the ACC
champ and they both go undefeated, then maybe we could
be into that 5 through 8 with a loss here.
But I still think with the schedule we have ahead of us,
there's opportunities with like USC and some other schools to
get wins, to get ourselves credibility and get ourselves
into the top 12. But I don't like I don't like

(33:55):
being in that position. It was nerve racking to be in
that position where we didn't feel like we could afford to
lose a game after NIU last year.Felt like the playoffs started
way too early for us last year. Yeah.
Yeah. So, so yeah, I think that's
interesting, but I also think I'm nervous and I'm like, but
again, if the team is back against the wall, how does that
change our philosophy? I mean, because they're going to

(34:17):
take shots, they're going to they're going to feel like, hey,
we're losing. We got to we got to air it out.
So maybe maybe a little bit moreoffensive firepower, a little
more fireworks might be in the cold.
Jordan, you might, you might have something there.
All right, well let's get to themoment all these people have
been waiting for on this YouTubevideo.
It's our time for our contest week #2 if you missed it last
week, we're giving away 2 free tickets, the Nerd Inverse

(34:39):
Syracuse game, and you've got a weekly chance to enter.
That's right. We had a winner last week or
after that, that Miami game, getthe rushing yards.
He's he got a free I-65 T-shirt and entered in to win those two
free Syracuse tickets. So you're wondering what's it
going to be this week? What do you got to guess on the
old X page? Do you remember you got to be

(35:00):
following us on X and you've gota comment underneath that post?
Order your different, remember? Oh yeah, you got a, you got a
quote. Repost quote.
Yep, on the old X. On the old X so repost quote on
the old X. We want to see something
different this time. Make it a little harder.
Yep. So on that and what we're going
to do, we said the defense has got to be big this week, right?
That's right. So we want to know how many

(35:21):
yards does the Texas A&M offense?
Total yards. Get on the already Fighting
Irish this week, that's all you got to do.
If you're the closest person on our X page, you'll win a Sweet
Irish 65 T-shirt and enter the Windows 2 Syracuse versus Notre
Dame tickets on Senior Night. There you go, it's that easy.
It's that easy, peeps. It's.

(35:41):
Jordan, anything you want to sayin wrapping up the game week
prep for A&M? Now you guys enjoy the game.
Hey, I work excited. It's good to be on campus.
I'm looking. It's a night game.
The atmosphere is always good. We've got.
Only one night game last year, so it like, you know, it's
Florida State. So it really wasn't it wasn't
great night game. I don't like it was it wasn't

(36:03):
close last year. So yeah, it's exciting to have a
September big match at night game.
And we haven't nailed all the details down, but Maddie didn't
think she's going to be able to make this game and now she is.
So we're going to have the full Irish 365 crew, travel crew on
site. We've got some friends that are
going up with us and we're goingto meet some friends up there on
campus. So it ought to be a great

(36:24):
atmosphere. I'm going to be nervous and a
little, you know. Stomach's going to be gun shy.
Yeah, stomach's going to be feeling I'm.
Not playing, but I'm going to feel like I'm going to feel like
I'm in that I got a game tonightmode, which it's good for.
Good for my old bones to feel that way every night right now
and then. So yeah, I'm excited about it.
So it it ought to be good. There ought to be a lot of a lot
of just jitters, but the atmosphere should be good.

(36:44):
I expect the A&M crowd to be fairly large.
I really do, which will be a lotof fun.
And I expect the Irish to just hopefully.
I said do you expect the arse towin?
I'll. Form my expectation, there you
go, I'm. I'm get that red velvet cake
ready, Yeah. He's going to get the free I do
get. Any red velvet cake at Miami
game? I should have had some, yeah,
some setting. We'll get him a Freeman Red

(37:05):
Velvet Cookie and yeah, he'll behe'll be set to go, who won't be
feeling as nervous. The Freeman Cookie, that it's a
solid cookie. It's full red velvet little
cream cheese icing. It's it works.
That's a good call, Joey. We never think about that last
week. Yeah, we missed that so.
That's probably what we need to get going again.
We need the lucky red velvet. We need something going there.
There we go. We'll get on that.
All right, well, that kind of wraps it up.

(37:26):
We're running out of time here, so apologize to Coach Freeman.
We didn't get him on this week but.
It's going to stay quiet, though.
Coach, you've been doing. Good he's they're staying under
the radar and I like. It all right, sorry, coach.
Maybe next week though, right all.
Right, let's get ready. Let's go Irish.
