Irish 365 Podcast Welcome into the Irish 365 Boise State
Preview podcast. How we feeling?
I'm feeling good. Yeah, I'm feeling good.
It's game week and I was a little disappointed.

(00:22):
Looking looking forward to this game a lot more coming into the
season. I am now with Boise State
falling off and not being ranked.
Just losing the one week 1. Yeah, I mean, and they lost a
good South Florida team. It wasn't like they lost, but
they haven't played anybody thatgive you.
Concern or they haven't played. Any way to get back in the
rankings? Yeah, But this is a team that I

(00:43):
think could be two loss to the end season.
Hopefully this the second loss is to us, right?
That's what we're expecting, right?
I mean, I'm, I'm fully expectingthe Irish to, you know, come
back home after the Arkansas victory.
And we talked about it during the Arkansas pod.
Like Notre Dame is in playoff mode and they've got to win and
they've got to win impressive fashion.
They've got to put points up a style point.
I hate style points. But they're in a position where,

(01:05):
had they won either A&M or Miami, they wouldn't need style
points. But because they lost both of
those, we have to have some helpand we have to win with style
points. And I, I don't like it, but I do
like this high pressure, this high scoring offense.
I was going to say, I don't knowif it's due to that, that we're
putting up so many points, but it is sure fun to watch.
Yeah, it's it's going to be entertaining.

(01:25):
I mean, it's give me all that this weekend.
I can't wait to get in my seat and see the ball be and hey,
run. I mean, it's not just throwing,
it's running. To an interesting choice, but
the Irish Wear Green game is this week.
So yeah, with the Irish, we'll be wearing green jerseys.
I am assuming, I'm assuming you're assuming that will we
come out with green pants again? All that fun stuff.

(01:47):
I'm sure Indy Uniform Tracker will be on it.
Yeah, we'll watch out for what they've got going on, but.
Yeah. So that'll be interesting what
happens there, the uniform frontand it'll be interesting to see
if Boise comes out in white or they it'd be pretty cool if we
got the green on blue match up in my opinion.
Yeah, if they were to wear the blue.
Yeah, yeah, I think that'd be a cool, cool matchup jersey wise.
But yeah, I don't know what they'll come out in.
And we announced this, you know, pretty far in advance.

(02:09):
And I mean, Boise State blue is their thing that I could see
them planning that ahead of timeand saying, yeah, you wear the
green, we'll wear the blue and and rocking it that direction.
But I think a lot of Boise Statepeople, and I've always heard
Boise State travels well, a lot of Boise State people beginning
of the year had to circle their calendar and say, hey, we want

(02:30):
to come see our team play at. Yeah, especially when they were
coming off of such a great year and the College Football Playoff
and they lost to Penn State. And then, you know, they they
kind of rooted for us and, you know, we beat Penn State, but it
wasn't like we destroyed Penn State.
And you're thinking, Oh my gosh,Notre Dame was so much better to
Penn State. And I think there's a lot of
Boise State fans who felt like they could have played better

(02:52):
and they could have beat Penn State.
They didn't feel like, Oh my gosh, we were so much worse.
We were out classed, out, mannedout, you know, whatever.
So going into it, yeah, they knew they were going to lose
Scataboo. But I thought Gentry.
Or Gentry, I mean we. Were watching some NFL.
Yeah, we were watching NFL the other day, but looking at it,
you're going they felt like theywere going to lose their running

(03:12):
back, but they felt like, OK, we're going to be good still.
And and that's the thing. Are they good and just not
getting the credit because of conference and because of their
wins have been against lesser known lesser, you know, they the
one big game they had, and I quote big game was USF and they
lost it. You know, the Air Force win was
a nice win. I think they're averaging 40

(03:34):
some points a game and their victory is 48.
I think in their victory something like that.
So, so yeah, how good is Boise State coming into this game?
That's the that's the $1,000,000question.
And how good is the Notre Dame defense?
And we talked about it in the post Arkansas game.
It was good to see us hold a high-powered Arkansas offense to
13 points. Yeah, Arkansas with

(03:55):
self-inflicted wounds. Now the question is.
Is that defense? Going to take a step forward and
continue to get better and are they going to be able to
maintain and keep a Boise State offense in check?
And let's let's get into this. Boise State's offense is no
joke. They had a very rough Week 1,
but teams have done that, right?I mean, we we didn't have a

(04:17):
great Week 1. Obviously their offense.
Their worst offensive performance was Yeah 1.
Their offenses put up 520 yards per game, even with a bad week
One. That's their average.
Yeah, 9th in FBS, 299 passing yards a game and 221 rushing
yards per game. Mattson comes back as their
quarterback this year. And yeah, I mean as console

(04:40):
playoff experience. He's got experience.
He's he's an older guy, yeah. He's throwing 60% completion
rates. He's long 75.
I mean, he's he's a good quarterback for them.
He's got experience. Yeah.
So you expect them to be a little more pass heavy and
they're balanced and that'll butthat'll open up the run.

(05:03):
And you know, maybe the talent level from Gentry has fallen
off, but. Yeah, if.
But does it fall off that far? And if you go back and listen to
our preview pod on the season, Isaid, I I think this is a team
that I'm not too shocked they struggled early on because they
they relied so much on Gentry last year that he just did
everything where if they were more balanced last year, I think

(05:24):
they would have been a little more dangerous.
Like, obviously you have a player that's compete for the
Heisman Trophy. That's great.
But they everyone knew what theywere doing every time, right?
They've got three good running backs this year.
None, none with Gentry numbers. But I mean, they're a lot more
balance with the running back carries, 48 carries, 38 carries,
34 carries their top three backs, whereas last year to been
120 for Gentry and 10/5 for everyone else.

(05:46):
So yeah, they're a lot more balance with their backs.
They're throwing the ball. I mean, it's 5050 on their
yards. I mean, I think it's just
they're not as predictable this year and that that's helping
them a lot. So it doesn't surprise me.
Week one they struggled a littlebit more.
Obviously they played their bestopponent of the year Week 1, so
that they always have that. But it's a team that isn't so
reliant on one thing that they're probably a better

(06:08):
overall team. They don't have the best player
anymore, but they're a better team because of it.
Yeah, they they may be ultimately a better team than
they were last year because they're not so predictable in
the run. But yeah, even though they were
predictable in the run, they couldn't stop Gentry.
Like he he was hard to tackle. So it's like, you know what
we're going to do? Yeah, and I don't blame them for
doing it, but I'm just saying I think they might be a better

(06:30):
overall team. Yeah.
And I think that's going to be the interesting thing.
So when I look at this coming in, it's I don't think their
defense is all world. Defense is on 341 yards per
game. So now.
And so Notre Dame's offense has been pretty proficient the last
three weeks. So I feel like it's going to be
our strength of offense versus their weakness on defense.

(06:53):
And then it's going to be their strength on offense against how
good is our defense? That's the that's the question I
keep coming back to. And then I'm, I'm struggling
with, OK, let's just say in a ina perfect scenario, Notre Dame's
defense finds a way to force a turnover to keep this this Boise
State team to under 21 points. Are you starting to buy in that

(07:15):
this defense is coming around atthat point?
Yeah, I mean this or do you needa better performance than that?
And I don't know, Yeah. I'll go.
I mean, this Boise dates team been putting up points the last
three or four weeks. So I'll I'll say if we can hold
them under 20, I'll feel a lot better.
Yeah, but I mean, would it surprise you if they put up 30?
No, I mean, it feels very similar like last week.
We know where offense is going to score.

(07:37):
Just how much is how much is ourdefense going to hold them
right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Get an offensive line, keep playing as good as they have.
They looked really good against Arkansas.
Yeah, I don't think Boise States, are we going to see
Rendell this week, I guess to the question, right?

(07:57):
How about this? I'll ask you this question.
I don't know that we see Rendell.
Do you think we see any? Punts.
Any kicks other than kickoff do you think we see extra?
Points. Yeah, any field goals?
I'll say we see a field goal because yeah, we didn't see one,
dude, No, we didn't see one lastweek, did we?
I'd say we see a field goal thisweek.

(08:20):
Think so. We score a field goal now it
might be in the fourth quarter. OK, well, I'm just that's the
question, right? I mean, how proficient is our
offense going to be against the?I'm, I mean, I'm fully expecting
some more Kenny Minchi time thisweek.
I, I seems like we're going to see Kenny.
Minchi, because I don't see any reason that we're going to try
to hold him under that four games for the red shirt year.

(08:42):
Doesn't seem like that's going to be the case whatsoever.
I don't mean to be this guy, butcalling it out, but it seems
like Kenny Minchi, if CJ Carr isplaying as good as he is, Kenny
Minchi's probably not going to be in Notre Dame next year.
Like it's one of those things you said about Steve Angelli,
right? Like.
Yeah, you won him. Yeah, it's like he's a great
player. I'd love to have him next year,
but for his own personal sake. I love Kitty Menchi and he I

(09:05):
know he loves Notre Dame. And same thing with Angeli.
Angeli didn't want to go to Syracuse, but he had to, like he
had to go somewhere and he was killed at Syracuse until his
Achilles snapped. And just like, I feel sorry for,
I just feel bad for the kid 'cause I mean, Angeli.
And with the line giving the time that CJ Carr had, I think
Angeli could be putting up some pretty good numbers as well.

(09:26):
I mean, he, he had arm talent. He just given time.
He, he was dangerous. So so anyway, all that being
said and done, yeah. I mean, I don't think they're
going to try and hold back any time for Kenny.
I mean, there's there's no reason to at this point.
He's a year ahead of CJ. He's a red shirt sophomore.
I don't know how he's doing class wise if he's ahead of
schedule from summer class and things of that nature.

(09:49):
I could only see Kenny Minchi sticking around one more year.
If like he's a semester away from graduating, come back for
the fall graduate transfer at the end of next season, you
know, and get your Notre Dame degree and then go someplace
else. And he's just got so much talent
though, it feels like, and he's putting out a lot of good game
film. Yes.

(10:10):
So it it just with talent like obviously if he's not getting
any reps and I the transfer Porter doesn't hit as hard but a
quarterback, but a quarterback'sput a backup quarterback's
putting up this much good game film like.
You know where I think he'll go.Where's that?
Tennessee? See, so this is what I've said,
but Tennessee really relies on that deep ball.
He needs to show more. He can hit more guys on the deep

(10:32):
ball more consistently. And yes, I agree with you.
Yeah, and. And I thought Steve Angele was
going to go there. Though I did.
I did too. I thought Angele didn't end up
at Tennessee? But Joey Aguilar's looked very
good. But yeah, he's only a one year
rental for Tennessee. I know that's what I'm thinking
like. But yeah, if Kenny Minchi can
show them on film because, yeah, their offense, you got to throw
a lot. I they throw the deep ball
pretty, pretty often. But yeah, he he would.

(10:53):
But it'd be a place he could go be competing for, you know, be
in the hunt for national championship, get himself ready
for NFL. I definitely.
Close to home, he's a he's a Tennessee guy.
I mean, if he's going to go somewhere, I, I, I hate he's
going to go somewhere we're going to repeat against him.
But I mean, that's, that's modern football, right?
So anyway, yeah, I'm but see, I'm also torn on the whole idea

(11:15):
or we're going to see Menchie because I I'm still not, I'm
still not sold on Notre Dame's defense.
We had one good game against Arkansas, but I also saw some
things that need to be cleaned up.
I saw some things that, you know, Arkansas with
self-inflicted wounds, with droppasses, things of that nature.
So and I'm all over the place onmy score prediction.

(11:39):
I've thought about this a lot and like I could go a lot of
different ways. I can see this game being an A&M
style shootout. I can see this game being an
Arkansas, Arkansas style blowout.
I I can see this going both waysfor Notre Dame.
So I think that's kind of an interesting mix.
I'm hoping to see Kenny Minchi time 'cause if we see Kenny
Minchi fourth quarter every. We see him in the third quarter,

(12:01):
right? Let's see him at halftime.
I'd I mean, and there'll be somegames I.
Think I don't think he's going to play in the halftime, 'cause
if you heard Freeman, I think start in the third quarter,
especially after last week, 'cause we definitely could have.
Seen when the middle eight yeah, win the middle eight yeah it'll
it'll be halfway through the 3rdat.
The earliest the early TJ will play in the third quarter again.
He'll start the third quarter and then.

(12:22):
Then I think it's 4913 and he still came out in the third
quarter like he didn't need to, but I think that's part of the.
I think that's that mentality though, and again, that's that
we got to keep our foot on the pedal.
We've got to win. We've got to win with style
points, which we haven't had to do that in a long time, but
we're in that position this year.
We have to do that. We got to look like.
And we can do that, I think is what you kind of mean at the

(12:42):
same time like. Yeah, we, but we can.
Yeah, we got to look like that. Greatest show on Term?
Times we have to win by style points and can't you know what I
mean? Like true like, but we can like
we have to and we are like, yeah.
So it is interesting. One interesting thing I do want
to get into with Boise State though, which I think can play a
big, big factor in this game, isthey're ranked 109th in penalty

(13:05):
yards per game, averaging 68 1/2.
Undisciplined football. I mean that is just a.
Offense, defense, not good, not good at all.
So I think that would be an interesting thing.
Obviously, coming to Notre Dame Stadium, what would the
atmosphere be like? We'll be rocking and rolling for
a 330 kick. Tough to say.
Yeah. And boys are going to bring a

(13:26):
lot of people, so I don't know if it'll be false starts.
But yeah, expect boys hate to play a little bit undisciplined
football there. I think the crowd I'm, I'm
really kind of curious because the last home game, the crowd
was just kind of not, not. I'd say not comfortable.
Yeah. And then, you know, you had a
really good performance and thenyou had a really good
performance against Arkansas. So you're feeling a little

(13:48):
better. You're two and two, you know, I
mean, and you go back to that A&M game and that place was rock
Brandy. I don't know that Boise State
will bring that much energy to the Notre Dame crowd.
My fear is there'll be a large contingent, there'll be a,
there'll be a blue takeover. You could be 2025%.
I haven't seen anything on SeatGeek.
Later in the week, we'll get Yeah Thursday.

(14:10):
Friday you'll start seeing Yeah,25% of the SeatGeek tickets are
bought. Based on the zip codes of the
credit cards, you know, we expect you know, so next day or
two we'll see that. So I, I expect to be a large
Boise State contingent come out,but only because I think a lot
of people in Boise Stateside were circling their calendar

(14:31):
early in the year to come to this game.
And it's a, it's a, you know, Notre Dame is always a
destination. It's always a place where, you
know, if you don't play us on a regular basis, you want to come
see your team play there, especially if you're looking at
it and saying, you know what, we're a better team than people
give us credit for. Let's knock off a top 20.
The. Top 25 team in Notre Dame who's

(14:54):
looked pretty good their last couple of games because the
Notre Dame defense has shown they'll give up points.
Now you got to figure out if you're Boise, can you stop the
Notre Dame offense? And I think you're going to say,
oh, how am I going to stop them?I'm going to try and be balanced
and I'm going to try and possessthe ball.
I'm not going to be pushing big plays.
I'm going to try to go 4 to 6 yards every play.

(15:15):
That's all I want to do. Run, stay in bounds 4 to 6
yards, run it, pass it. Everything's short.
Just keep chunking out the clock.
Keep it low scoring, you know, and keep keep Notre Dame's
offense off the field and keep Notre Dame's defense on the
field. And as that defense wears down,
those plays get easier and easier and easier.
And that's kind of where I'm, that's kind of where my head's

(15:36):
at on this game going into it. If I'm Boise State's coach,
that's kind of my game strategy.Try to slow it down.
I'm going to slow it down. I'm going to say, hey, we're
going to, we're going to be balanced, but we're not throwing
deep. You know, we'll take our shot
maybe once or twice. Yeah.
What's there? They've got, let me get his name
right here. You can keep going.
But yeah, they've got a guy where they seems that he hits
for the longer the longer balls here.

(15:57):
I've seen that earlier in my notes.
The receiver. Yeah, they they have like 4 or
five receivers though, with all about 10:15 catches, 10 catches,
11 catches, 13 catches. But yeah, they've got Marshall
and Ford who who seem to be their home run hitters averaging
like 21 and 17 yards. I mean, even Cables is averages
16 yards of reception. So yeah, I mean, they've got 4

(16:17):
good. But how much of that yak?
Yeah, I. Don't know.
I haven't studied Boise State enough to know, but yeah, I
mean, if you're going 5-6 yard slants and they're going for 20
yards, that's one thing. If you're going 5-6 yard slang,
you know, or you're throwing 20 yard balls down the field, you
know, I mean, so if I'm Boise State, I'm that's what I'm going
to do to attack Notre Dame. And if I'm Notre Dame, I'm not

(16:38):
worried I'm going to do whateverI want.
I think offensively against Boise State, I don't see
anything that makes me think we can't.
We and and I was sort of trying to think, OK, we were pretty
balanced last week even though CJ has some gaudy numbers.
Yeah, like it was definitely still.
And you know, the couple screen passes went for 40 yards ish

(17:00):
both times and you know, runningbacks got those balls so it felt
like they were long runs. We know that like.
Catching up with height behind the line of scrimmage.
Yeah, we know that Love and Price can take any any run up
the gut and turn it into a home run with just a little bit of a
seam. So I think Notre Dame will
probably stay somewhat balanced.I don't think we'll see Wildcat.
I don't think we'll see much RPOI think we'll see some play

(17:22):
action and I think we'll see, you know, we'll see some some
running on our side and I think that would be intentional.
You want to score somewhat quick, but at the same time you
want to you want to control the ball a little bit on the Irish
side. And that's that's where my
head's at, right. Like if I was going into this
game and all I was doing was trying to win, I would say
control the time of possession, control the clock, long

(17:43):
sustained drives. Yeah, because.
Don't let Boise's high-powered, potentially high-powered offense
have a shot. Yeah, I was going to say, I feel
like for Boise's perspective, though, for the win this game,
like, I don't know, like last year, so easy to say you got to
stop the run against Notre Dame and that's how you beat them,
right. This year it's it's a lot more
difficult like to for a defense, say, all right, we're going to

(18:04):
stop the run because it feels like they're gonna pass on you.
And then once we're passed on you, we can run on you, right?
So you got to pick one. I think it's pick your poison,
right, which I I would if I was their defense, I would say, all
right, we got to stop the run because we're going to hope the
freshman makes it red shirt fresh makes a red shirt freshman
mistake, right? Like that's that's got to be
what you think. But yeah, it seems like their
best strategy defensively would be our office has to keep the

(18:27):
ball like we can't. Notre Dame can't score, but they
don't have the ball. Yeah, you're, we're not going to
let up 50 points if we have 30 minutes of possession, right,
Like or 40 minutes of possession.
So I think that's got to be always just to really play
complimentary football. I would agree that that's got to
be the recipe for success. So we talk about the over under
later. I think if it goes. 64 1/2.

(18:49):
I think if it goes under is in Boise State's favor.
If it goes over, it's in Notre Dame's favor, yeah.
I mean, but I could see Boise State trying to control the
possession and it's still being 2810 Irish.
Like, I can see Notre Dame, I can see Notre Dame hitting the
over on their own this game. Yeah, I mean, we could put.
Well, I, I could also see this game being 2120 and that and
that's where my head is all overthe place right now and I love

(19:10):
that. We talk about like the really
nice games to bet is when it's or like for the offensive props.
It's like when Nerddom's puttingup all these points 'cause you
can pick literally 3 or 4 guys and they could all score 123,
maybe even 4 for Jeremiah. Love touchdowns, but yeah, this
one could feel like, oh, this one.
Yeah. What's What's the Boise State
defense going to do here? Yeah.

(19:31):
So, so I think, I think that's kind of.
Interesting. Yeah, the line's at 17 1/2 for
the Irish, which feels like a lot after Arkansas was 4 1/2 to
6 1/2, depending on where you'regetting it last week and when
you're getting it. And and you talk about Boise
State's defense having having topick their poison.
Yeah, think about the first fourgames.
How many times did CJ Carr throwa bad ball?

(19:53):
Very few. That wasn't intentional
grounding, right? That's his intentional grounding
throws are like the only bad decisions I was going to make.
And like, you know, he's got a couple of those, but it's like,
no, his balls have been well placed.
Like he hasn't thrown very many bad balls.
Or any of the like, terrible coverage.
Yeah, like he's not. He's not.
He threw, I guess I'll take his back against Arkansas early.

(20:15):
He tried to get great house whenhe was in double coverage.
I think it was Faizon was open. I think Love was open on the
other side of the field where hewas really wanting to get great
house the ball. Yeah, he locked it on Great
House. And that's that's the only one I
can think of off the top of my head right now.
And I. It seems like CJ has just bonded
with Great House for some reasonthat those guys have just kind
of, and maybe that's 'cause, youknow, freshman year I, I don't

(20:37):
know, Great House was around himor something.
I mean, I hard to say, but yeah,it's just one of those things
where there's not a lot of bad balls coming out of CJI mean
like those those intentional grounding ones.
But it's like, so now if I'm Arkansas, Boise or Boise, am I
going to say I'm going to try and stop the pass?

(20:59):
Because that just seems like a bad idea.
I mean, I've got to figure out, I've got to figure out, I think
I've got to I think I've got to sell out on stopping the run and
I got to just figure out some way to get like pressure on the
quarterback. I mean, that's and I'm going to
try and keep him from getting the ball.
I mean, that's it. That's, that's my game plan.

(21:19):
If I'm Boise, I'm slowing the game down.
You know, this, this past Sunday, I was coaching at a flag
football game. I felt like the other team could
score more than we could. I went to a huddle, which I hate
to do in flag football, and I slowed the game down because I,
I wanted to give us a chance to,you know, and I, and I think
that's kind of where Boise State's going to be in this
game. It's going to be slow the game
down, keep Notre Dame's offense off the field.

(21:41):
And I think for Notre Dame, I think it's going to be kind of a
little bit of the difference. I think Notre Dame's going to
try and. Tempo.
Tempo, we're going to try and. It was still huddle, but it will
be. We're just trying to put points
up though. We want to be efficient.
I mean, we don't care if a drivetakes 2 minutes or takes 12
minutes. We want to be efficient.
And I think the only time we'll slow down is because we want to
give our defence a break. Like we might, we might not go

(22:02):
for the kill shot every time we can just because we're like, OK,
let's go 1015 yards get, you know, maybe 4 minutes of game
time, but you know, 10 minutes of 15 minutes of real time
because it's another game, home game.
So every time you score, there'sthe time out, 2 1/2 minutes.
You know, there's always there's, there's going to be
plenty of time to get your defense rested.
If you're efficient, you know, you can't score one play every

(22:23):
time, but I think you're going to be able to do that.
And if the if the defense gets rolling, yeah.
And that's the $1,000,000 question, right?
Or my $1,000,000 question. You can say yours first.
Which, which defense are we going to see?
Yeah, my main question is this game take under 4 1/2 hours,
both their home games so far if.They've been marathons, yeah.
Is there. I haven't looked at weather yet

(22:44):
for it's. Supposed to be sunny as of now,
but yeah, it's supposed. To be sunny and warm.
I don't think we're. Supposed to, but just like can
this game not take 4 hours? That would be the question I
guess for me. I hope so.
Hopefully it's that quadruple overtime.
Well, if it's low scoring groundand pound, stay inbounds.
Boise State's. Yeah.
Going to get their way. It should be a a quicker game,

(23:08):
yeah. But if we score, it's one of
those things where that first half against Arkansas took a
while 'cause it was like we scored 49 points, but the
second-half went by really fast,right?
Yeah. So, so it'll be one of the
things that was just my my joke for you.
It'll be a try to see how this feeling just be a normal, normal
length football game. Yeah.
So have you thought about the score prediction?
Yep, I've got one for you. You got one.

(23:29):
You know, I've I haven't yet. So what's Let's talk, let's talk
props, let's talk betting lines.What?
What do you got out there? Yes, 17 1/2 Notre Dame over
Boise State as the favourites over under 64 1/2 touchdown
props and stuff will come out here later in the week so.
So basically 2742 Irish would beVegas somewhere in that

(23:52):
ballpark. Somewhere in there, yeah.
I haven't looked and dug deep into where they got points wise
out there per team, but yeah, that that sounds about right.
Well, you're 17 1/2 points. Notre Dame's going to win by 17.
So yeah, you're going to have tohave that kind of a spread.
So Notre Dame in the mid low 40sand Boise, yeah.
So I've got, you know, my score prediction.

(24:12):
Let me hear it. 5217 Irish. 52 Ilike that I like that I need
that you know and and like literally I have been back and
forth and thought on this yeah the last I don't know, 24 hours
I've been I've been multiple places part of me could see this
game going 7010 Irish, part of me could.

(24:37):
Have indeed. Wow, that'd be awesome.
I I could see the Irish coming out like, you know, maybe it was
the, you know, endorphins, you know, in my head thinking how
great we played against Arkansasand put up all the points.
Yeah. And how we need to put up the
points and like, OK, could couldwe give, could we give Boise
State the Purdue treatment from last year?
I I don't know, but I don't think we'll go that high in the

(25:00):
score. I could also see a scenario
where this game gets slowed downand it becomes a ground and
pound. And then this game was a 1721
game. Like that wouldn't surprise me.
We played what? So we beat Purdue and we scored
49 in the first half last year or something like that.
And then Miami, Ohio, we win 2810 that next.
Week. Exactly.
So yeah. So now I'm like.
Maybe we're too high on the A. Yeah, so we need to win.

(25:23):
We need to cover the spread, right?
We got to win by 20. I mean, we have to, otherwise
it's it's going to be not good. And then like how how good is
our defense? And I'm I'm not sold.
Our defense is there yet. I think Boise State's a chance
to take another step forward andget to where we want to be at

(25:43):
the end of the season, but we'renot there yet.
So I'm thinking this game's going to be 2842.
Yeah, I, I think I, I, I don't know that we're going to cover,
but I don't know that we're going to kick.
And what I'm trying, what I'm trying to figure out is, is this
game going to ever feel, Is it ever going to feel like after

(26:05):
the first quarter, is it going to feel like it's settled and
it's just a matter of going through the motions or is it
going to be a game up until third, fourth quarter?
And you're not going to feel good about it.
Yeah, and my gut feel is we always play better under Freeman
on the road, it seems like. And we had a great you fork high
after Arkansas. Are we going to have the let
down coming into Boise? And I, I feel like we are and I

(26:28):
feel like we're going to we're going to be a little sluggish
early. I won't be surprised if Boise
doesn't get up 14, seven like inthe first quarter and then we
have to fight our way back and then you know, kind of get
things squared away and make some adjustments.
But. That's fair.
Yeah, that. That's kind of where my head's
at right now. And it'll, you know, it'll
probably change putting down game times at least twice, if
not three times. But yeah, I was at one point

(26:48):
thinking we're going to win thisgame 70 to 10.
And then I was like, man, this game could be 2120.
But anyway. So I guess we haven't nailed
down this yet this week. So let's talk about it in front
of the people. We, we, we have.
We weren't running the weekly contest here, right?
That's right, we haven't nailed down what we want to do for the
contest this week. I've got a few different ideas.
Obviously Boise State's offense has been putting up a lot of
yards. Norden has been rushing for a

(27:10):
lot of yards. We did that.
We could do CJ Cars passing yards because I knew, I know we
talked about that one last week. What are what are what are we
leaning this week for the what do you think could be a big
number? This week, I think Notre Dame

(27:31):
running yards could be big this.Week, that's what we did last
week. Going to go back-to-back on it.
I don't know. But I'm with you, I think we
could run for a lot of yards here.
I can see, I mean, I can see us like again, I think they're
going to, I don't know, I, I think they're going to give us,
they're going to try and stop the run.
I think we're going to dominate or we're going to impose our
will on the on the run side of the game.

(27:53):
We could also, what have I been wanting to do?
Faizon's had a lot of good yards.
We could do his receiving yards.Just just faizon.
Just Faizon. All right.
Or we can pick someone else. But yeah, he's he's been the
leading receiver I think 7 catches for like 79 yards last
week. He could have 10 yards, he could
have 120. It's let's do a combo, let's do

(28:14):
face on and and Malachi combined, OK, total yards.
Those two guys combine total yards.
So guy, let's let's make this official because.
I was going to. I was going to say yeah.
We'll clip this. We'll make this official if
you'd like to win two tickets inNotre Dame versus Syracuse and a
Sweet Irish 365. T-shirt.
All you got to do this week is guess Malkai fields and Faison

(28:35):
combined receiving. Yards.
That's right, No rushing. Yards.
No punt return. No Faison passing yards.
Both are receiving yards now. If Faison throws Malkai Fields
together 40 yards, that count This 40 yards will indeed count
for. But you won't get 80.
You'll get. You'll get.
The 40. And you'll, yeah, you'll get a
sweet Irish 365 T sent right to your house.

(28:57):
Yep, you'll be the envy of your neighborhood.
Yep, friends. Yep.
And trolls. Yep, and you'll be entered in to
win our end of the year contest for those two Nerd Inver
Syracuse tickets on Senior Day. You'll get to see two seats to
the best stadium, the cathedral of college football.
That's where it's labeled as. So yeah, I like that one a lot.
I like that. Let's do that so that.
He's on in fields, Malkite Fields, yeah.

(29:17):
Because we're in playoff mode for the Irish, Yeah.
I mean, it's it's just another week of playoff mode.
We've got to win and we've got to win big.
Yeah, I'm a little, like I said,a little apprehensive on that
thought, but I think we can pullthat off.
And you know, and again, it's can't look beyond next week at
this point. The team can't think about
playoffs. The team can only think about
they've got to lock in, take care of business, do what they
need to do and play one game at a time.

(29:39):
And when they got to that mindset last year?
Yeah, things went well, right they.
They started doing all right, sowe need to be back to that
mindset again. Yep.
And yeah, I mean, we're going tobe at the game.
I'm looking forward to Irish wear Green's always a fun one.
So yeah, if you're going to be there this week, wear your green
colors, wear your green shirt, wear all that stuff.
I was going to get in. Let's see, Let's go.

(29:59):
Last week against Arkansas, Malkai Fields had just the one
catcher, 43 receptions. Oh, my bad. 3 receptions, 72
yards. Faison, 89 yards.
So yeah, I mean, that's not a bad week there last week for the
two of them. Yeah, so I mean I they could
easily put. Up 161 last week.

(30:20):
They could, usually. Put up a couple 100.
They, I mean, you could, this could be a 60 yard one.
And yeah, there's different strategies.
We we try to do best without going over but then sometimes.
If someone's close. If someone.
'S like 2 yards off, so that that's our tiebreaker.
If someone's 2 yards away, we should just give it to them.
Yeah, if there's two people thatare 40 yards off and one's over

(30:40):
and one's under, running up to the guy that's under.
Yeah, but we we've had it where it's like predict this and it's
let's say 200 yards. The closest person without going
over is 110 and then one person's 201.
Yeah, two of one's getting it. Yeah, it's the closest eye
breaker is the under. If two people tie and one's
under, they get it. Yeah.
So just be the closest on that one.

(31:01):
But yeah, this could this could literally be a thing where
someone they they could go for 45 yards or they could cause
someone else could step a wheel pulling and great house could
have 400 yards this. Week.
Eli Reardon. Yeah, Good, good guy this week.
So yeah, it it'll be a fun one. But yeah, those two guys get on
them, see how many receiving yards they get.
And yeah, we'll post this on X, make sure you're following us.
All that good stuff. All right, all right.

(31:21):
Anything else on this Boise State?
Irish wear green I guess. Don't wear blue, yeah, I guess.
And don't wear Boise Blue. Especially we should have been
wearing green on this one. We'll we have our green ready
for Washington ready for this Saturday, though.
All right. Well, hey, we're running out of
time for this pod, so let's wrapit up.
We're not have time for guests. Tonight, no guests, sorry.
Jeremiah Love and Marcus Freemanis it.
Sorry, Jeremiah Love for Freeman.
We'll try and get you on soon. Yeah, bye.
