După rezultatele primului tur, liderii PNL și PSD se aliază împotriva lui Traian Băsescu. Are loc "faza meciului" la dezbaterea finală dinaintea alegerilor prezidențiale. Băsescu câștigă "la mustață" al doilea mandat de Președinte al României.
