After retiring from teaching, I decided to launch a podcast where I chat with people from Binghamton and discusses the nostalgic place I call home. I believe anyone who grew up in Binghamton is either a "Local Legend" or "Binghamton Famous," not just the big names but also the everyday heroes, like the cashier at my favorite childhood grocery store. Binghamton is a special place for me, and I echo our own local legend Rod Serling’s words: "Everyone has to have a hometown, Binghamton's mine." The present moment is often regarded as our "enemy". We as humans seem to be treating the present moment as a steppingstone to the next more seemingly important thing, forgetting that the present moment holds the most power. Shelly and I discuss the importance of practicing this and some tools that help us stay in the moment, so our thoughts don't run away and get the best of us! Thank you for listening.
A brief dive into Crone's drugstores and their founder, Everett "Doc" Crone. This was a place where I would often spend numerous hours browsing the counters and "purchasing" candy or more accurately, charging it to Nelson's account. Ah, the good old days!
